Based on the Jacobi metric method, this paper studies the deflection of a charged massive particle by a novel four-dimensional charged Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet black hole. We focus on the weak field approximation and consider the deflection angle with finite distance effects. To this end, we use a geometric and topological method, which is to apply the Gauss-Bonnet theorem to the Jacobi space to calculate the deflection angle. We find that the deflection angle contains a pure gravitational contribution $δ_g$, a pure electrostatic $δ_c$ and a gravitational-electrostatic coupling term $δ_{gc}$. We also show that the electrostatic contribution $δ_c$ can also be computed by the Jacobi metric method using the GB theorem to a charge in a Minkowski flat spacetime background. We find that the deflection angle increases(decreases) if the Gauss-Bonnet coupling constant $α$ is negative(positive). Furthermore, the effects of the BH charge, the particle charge-to-mass ratio and the particle velocity on the deflection angle are analyzed.
In this paper, we first use the optical metrics of black-bounce traversable wormholes to calculate the Gaussian curvature. Then we use the Gauss-Bonnet theorem to obtain the weak deflection angle of light from the black-bounce traversable wormholes. Then we investigate the effect of dark matter medium on weak deflection angle using the Gauss-Bonnet theorem. We show how weak deflection angle of wormhole is affected by the bounce parameter $a$. Using the Gauss-bonnet theorem for calculating weak deflection angle shows us that light bending can be thought as a global and topological effect.
The purpose of this Comment is to point out that there are conceptual and mathematical flaws in the analysis in "Light deflection by Damour-Solodukhin wormholes and Gauss-Bonnet theorem, Phys. Rev. D 98, 044033 (2018) by Ali Övgün".
The objective of this paper is to analyze the weak deflection angle of Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity in the presence of plasma medium. To attain our results, we implement the Gibbons and Werner approach and use the Gauss-Bonnet theorem to Einstein gravity to acquire the resulting deflection angle of photon's ray in the weak field limit. Moreover, we illustrate the behavior of plasma medium and non-plasma mediums on the deflection of photon's ray in the framework of Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity. Similarly, we observe the graphical influences of deflection angle on Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity…
In this paper, we study the gravitational lensing by some black hole classes within the non-linear electrodynamics in weak field limits. First, we calculate an optical geometry of the non-linear electrodynamics black hole then we use the Gauss-Bonnet theorem for finding deflection angle in weak field limits. The effect of non-linear electrodynamics on the deflection angle in leading order terms is studied. Furthermore, we discuss the effects of the plasma medium on the weak deflection angle.
We reply to the Comment of Bhattacharya and Karimov on our paper Light deflection by Damour-Solodukhin wormholes and Gauss-Bonnet theorem [arXiv:1811.00768 [gr-qc]]. We address a number of incorrect claims made about our calculations and methodology. We show below that the claims of BK are incorrect, and that there are no problems with the results of Övgün's paper or its implications.
In this paper, we calculate the weak deflection angle by Casimir wormhole and its shadow. To do so, we derive the Gaussian optical curvature and use the Gauss-Bonnet theorem. Then we find the deflection angle by Casimir wormhole in weak field limits. Moreover, we obtain the weak deflection angle in the presence of plasma medium and see the effect of the plasma medium on the weak deflection angle. Moreover, we study a shadow of Casimir wormhole and we plot and discuss them. We show the shadow of Casimir wormhole's behavior when changing the value of $a$.
In this letter, we have investigated the deflection angle of light by wormholes using a new geometrical method known as Gibbons-Werner method (GW). In particular we have calculated the deflection angle of light in the weak limit approximation in two wormhole spacetime geometries: Ellis wormhole and Janis-Newman-Winnicour (JNW) wormhole. We have employed the famous Gauss-Bonnet theorem (GBT) to the Ellis wormhole optical geometry and JNW wormhole optical geometry, respectively. By using GBT, we computed the deflection angles in leading orders by these wormholes and our results were compared wit…
In this letter we apply the Gauss--Bonnet theorem (GB) to calculate the deflection angle by a quantum corrected Schwarzschild black hole in the weak limit approximation. In particular we calculate the light deflection by two types of quantum corrected black holes: the renormalization group improved Schwarzschild solution and the quantum corrected Schwarzschild solution in Bohmian quantum mechanics. We start from the corresponding optical metrics to use then the GB theorem and calculate the Gaussian curvature in both cases. We calculate the leading terms of the deflection angle and show that qu…
The principal objective of this project is to investigate the gravitational lensing by asymptotically flat black holes in the framework of Horndeski theory in weak field limits. To achieve this objective, we utilize the Gauss-Bonnet theorem to the optical geometry of asymptotically flat black holes and apply the Gibbons-Werner technique to achieve the deflection angle of photons in weak field limits. Subsequently, we manifest the influence of plasma medium on deflection of photons by asymptotically flat black holes in the context of Horndeski theory. We also examine the graphical impact of def…
In this paper the problem of gravitational deflection of relativistic charged massive particles in slowly rotating Kerr-Newman black holes is considered. Toward this purpose we have used two methods: Firstly, we have applied the Gauss-Bonnet theorem (GBT) and the optical geometry to evaluate the deflection angle of charged particles. Secondly, we have presented a detailed analysis of the deflection angle by means of the Hamilton-Jacobi equation recovering the same invariant result for the deflection angle in leading order terms. The crucial point behind the first method is to use the correspon…
We apply the Gauss-Bonnet theorem to the study of light rays in a plasma medium in a static and spherically symmetric gravitational field and also to the study of timelike geodesics followed for test massive particles in a spacetime with the same symmetries. The possibility of using the theorem follows from a correspondence between timelike curves followed by light rays in a plasma medium and spatial geodesics in an associated Riemannian optical metric. A similar correspondence follows for massive particles. For some examples and applications, we compute the deflection angle in weak gravitatio…
This paper studies the deflection of charged particles in a dipole magnetic field in Schwarzschild spacetime background in the weak field approximation. To calculate the deflection angle, we use Jacobi metric and Gauss-Bonnet theorem. Since the corresponding Jacobi metric is a Finsler metric of Randers type, we use both the osculating Riemannian metric method and generalized Jacobi metric method. The deflection angle up to fourth order is obtained and the effect of the magnetic field is discussed. It is found that the magnetic dipole will increase (or decrease) the deflection angle of a positi…
In this review, various researches on finding the bending angle of light deflected by a massive gravitating object which regard the Gauss-Bonnet theorem as the premise have been revised. Primarily, the Gibbons and Werner method is studied apropos of the gravitational lensing phenomenon in the weak field limits. Some exclusive instances are deliberated while calculating the deflection angle, beginning with the finite-distance corrections on non-asymptotically flat spacetimes. Effects of plasma medium is then inspected to observe its contribution to the deflection angle. Finally, the Jacobi metr…
The purpose of this article is twofold. First, we extend the results presented in [Gabriel Crisnejo and Emanuel Gallo, Phys.Rev.D 97, 124016 (2018)] to stationary spacetimes. Specifically, we show that the Gauss-Bonnet theorem can be applied to describe the deflection angle of light rays in plasma media in stationary spacetimes. Second, by using a correspondence between the motion of light rays in a cold non magnetized plasma and relativistic test massive particles we show that this technique is not only powerful to obtain the leading order behavior of the deflection angle of massive/massless …
In this paper, using the recent method proposed by Ono, Ishihara and Asada (OIA) who extend the idea of Gibbons and Werner to the stationary and axisymmetric case, we apply the Gauss-Bonnet theorem to the optical metric of the non-rotating and rotating Damour-Solodukhin wormholes spacetimes to study the weak gravitational lensing by these objects. Furthermore, we study the strong gravitational lensing by the non-rotating Damour-Solodukhin wormholes using the Bozza's method to see the differences between the weak lensing and the strong lensing. We demonstrate the relation between the strong def…
In this paper we investigate the strong gravitational lensing with Gauss-Bonnet gravity. By considering the logarithmic term for deflection angle, we obtain the deflection angle $\hatα$ and corresponding parameters $\bar{a}$ and $\bar{b}$. Finally, by using the relations between the observables and lensing parameters, we estimate the observables such as, $θ_{\infty}$, $s$ and $r_m$, for the relativistic images in the Gauss-Bonnet background.
In this letter, we use a recent wormhole solution known as a ringhole [Gonzalez-Diaz, Phys.\ Rev.\ D {\bf 54}, 6122, 1996] to determine the surface topology and the deflection angle of light in the weak limit approximation using the Gauss-Bonnet theorem (GBT). We apply the GBT and show that the surface topology at the wormhole throat is indeed a torus by computing the Euler characteristic number. As a special case of the ringhole solution, one can find the Ellis wormhole which has the surface topology of a 2-sphere at the wormhole throat. The most interesting results of this paper concerns the…
In this paper, we study light rays in a Kazakov-Solodukhin black hole. To this end, we use the optical geometry of the Kazakov-Solodukhin black hole within the Gauss-bonnet theorem. We first show the effect of the deformation parameter $a$ on the Gaussian optical curvature, and then we use the modern method popularized by Gibbons and Werner to calculate the weak deflection angle of light. Our calculations of deflection angle show how gravitational lensing is affected by the deformation parameter $a$. Moreover, we demonstrate the effect of a plasma medium on weak gravitational lensing by the Ka…
In this paper, we use the Gauss Bonnet theorem to obtain the deflection angle by the photons coupled to Weyl tensor in a Schwarzschild black hole and Schwarzschild-like black hole in bumblebee gravity in the weak limit approximation. To do so, we first calculate the corresponding optical metrics, and then we find the Gaussian curvature to use in Gauss-Bonnet theorem, which is first done by Gibbons and Werner. Hence, in the leading order terms we show the deflection angle, that is affected by the coupling between the photon and Weyl tensor, and there is a deviation from the deflecting angle as …
In this article, we demonstrate the weak gravitational lensing in the context of Bocharova-Bronnikov-Melnikov-Bekenstein (BBMB) black hole. To this desire, we derive the deflection angle of light in a plasma medium by BBMB black hole using the Gibbons and Werner method. First, we obtain the Gaussian optical curvature and implement the Gauss-Bonnet theorem to investigate the deflection angle for spherically symmetric spacetime of BBMB black hole. Moreover, we also analyze the graphical behavior of deflection angle by BBMB black hole in the presence of plasma medium.
We study the weak-field deflection of light by mass distributions described by two-power-law densities $ρ(R)=ρ_0 R^{-α}(R+1)^{β-α}$, where $α$ and $β$ are non-negative integers. New analytic expressions of deflection angles are obtained via the application of the Gauss-Bonnet theorem to a chosen surface on the optical manifold. Some of the well-known models of this two-power law form are the Navarro-Frenk-White (NFW) model $(α,β)=(1,3)$, Hernquist $(1,4)$, Jaffe $(2,4)$, and the singular isothermal sphere $(2,2)$. The calculated deflection angles for Hernquist and NFW agrees with that of Keeto…
The deflection angle of Kerr-MOG black holes is studied for different values of the parameter in modified gravity (MOG). To this end, we employ the Gauss-Bonnet theorem, which was first studied by Gibbons and Werner and then extended by Ono, Ishihara and Asada, who use a generalized optical metric where the deflection of light for an observer and source at finite distance. By using this method, we study the weak gravitational lensing by Kerr-MOG black hole. Our computations show that with an increase in the MOG parameter ($α$), the deflection angle becomes significantly larger than that of Ker…
In this paper, we study the weak gravitational lensing in the spacetime of rotating regular black hole geometries such as Ayon-Beato-García (ABG), Bardeen, and Hayward black holes. We calculate the deflection angle of light using the Gauss-Bonnet theorem (GBT) and show that the deflection of light can be viewed as a partially topological effect in which the deflection angle can be calculated by considering a domain outside of the light ray applied to the black hole optical geometries. Then, we demonstrate also the deflection angle via the geodesics formalism for these black holes to verify our…
Recently, a non-trivial $4D$ Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet (EGB) theory of gravity, by rescaling the GB coupling parameter as $α/(D-4)$, was formulated in \cite{Glavan:2019inb}, which bypasses Lovelock's theorem and avoids Ostrogradsky instability. The theory admits a static spherically symmetric black hole, unlike $5D$ EGB or general relativity counterpart, which can have both Cauchy and event horizons. We generalize previous work, on gravitational lensing by a Schwarzschild black hole, in the strong and weak deflection limits to the $4D$ EGB black holes to calculate the deflection coefficients $\bar…
In this paper, we investigate light bending in the spacetime of regular black holes with cosmic strings in weak field limits. To do so, we apply the Gauss-Bonnet theorem to the optical geometry of the black hole; and, using the Gibbons-Werner method, we obtain the deflection angle of light in the weak field limits which shows that the bending of light is a global and topological effect. Afterwards, we demonstrate the effect of a plasma medium on the deflection of light by RBCS. We discuss that increasing cosmic string parameter $μ$ and mass $M_0$ will increase the bending angle.
We investigate the strong gravitational lensing of spherically symmetric black holes in the novel Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet(EGB) gravity surrounded by unmagnetised plasma medium. The deflection angle in the strong deflection limit in EGB spacetime with homogeneous plasma is derived. We find that both the coupling constant $α$ in the novel EGB gravity and the presence of plasma can affect the radius of photon sphere, strong field limit coefficient and other lensing observables significantly. While plasma has little effect on the angular image separation and the relative magnifications as $α/M^2\to …
We consider the problem of gravitational deflection of a propagating relativistic massive particles by rotating black holes (Kerr black holes) and rotating wormholes (Teo wormholes) in the weak limit approximation. In particular we have introduced an alternative way to calculate the deflection angle for massive particles based on the refractive index of the optical media and the Gauss-Bonnet theorem applied to the isotropic optical metrics. The refractive index governing the propagation of massive particles is calculated by considering those particles as a de Broglie wave packets. Finally appl…
Recently, there has been a surge of interest in the 4D Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet (4D EGB) gravity theory which bypasses the Lovelock theorem and avoids Ostrogradsky's instability. Such a novel theory has nontrivial dynamics and presents several predictions for cosmology and black hole physics. Motivated by recent astrophysical observations and the importance of anti-de Sitter spacetime, we investigate shadow geometrical shapes and deflection angle of light from the charged AdS black holes in 4D EGB gravity theory. We explore the shadow behaviors and photon sphere around such black holes, and inspe…
In this work we extend the approach used in [Emanuel Gallo and Osvaldo M. Moreschi, Phys. Rev. D 83, 12 083007 (2011)] to the study of weak gravitational lensing in a plasma medium. First, we present expressions for the deflection angle and optical scalars in terms of the components of the energy-momentum tensor for spherically symmetric lenses surrounded by a cold non-magnetized plasma. Second, we show that the same expressions can be deduced using the Gauss-Bonnet theorem. Finally, we establish a correspondence between the spatial orbits of photons in a non-homogeneous plasma and the non-geo…
Using a new geometrical method introduced by Werner, we find the deflection angle in the weak limit approximation by a spinning cosmic string in the context of the Einstein-Cartan (EC) theory of gravity. We begin by adopting the String-Randers optical metric, then we apply the Gauss-Bonnet theorem to the optical geometry and derive the leading terms of the deflection angle in the equatorial plane. Calculations shows that light deflection is affected by the intrinsic spin of the cosmic string and torsion.
In this paper, we re-examine the light deflection in the Schwarzschild and the Schwarzschild-de Sitter spacetime. First, supposing a static and spherically symmetric spacetime, we propose the definition of the total deflection angle $α$ of the light ray by constructing a quadrilateral $Σ^4$ on the optical reference geometry ${\cal M}^{\rm opt}$ determined by the optical metric $\bar{g}_{ij}$. On the basis of the definition of the total deflection angle $α$ and the Gauss-Bonnet theorem, we derive two formulas to calculate the total deflection angle $α$; (i) the angular formula that uses four an…
In this paper, the gravitational deflection of relativistic massive particles up to the second post-Minkowskian order by static and spherically symmetric wormholes is investigated in the weak-field limit. These wormholes include the Janis-Newman-Winicour wormhole, a class of zero Ricci scalar scalar-tensor wormholes, and a class of charged Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton wormholes. With the Jacobi metric approach, the Gauss-Bonnet theorem is employed to study the gravitational deflection. In this scheme, the deflection angle as a topological effect is considered. Moreover, we analyze the influence of…
In this paper, we study the deflection of light by a class of phantom black hole and wormhole solutions in the weak limit approximation. More specifically, in the first part of this work, we study the deflection of light by Garfinkle-Horowitz-Ströminger black hole and Einstein-Maxwell anti-dilaton black hole using the optical geometry and the Gauss-Bonnet theorem. Our calculations show that gravitational lensing is affected by the phantom scalar field (phantom dilaton). In the second part of this work, we explore the deflection of light by a class of asymptotically flat phantom wormholes. In p…
In this geometrical approach to gravitational lensing theory, we apply the Gauss-Bonnet theorem to the optical metric of a lens, modelled as a static, spherically symmetric, perfect non-relativistic fluid, in the weak deflection limit. We find that the focusing of the light rays emerges here as a topological effect, and we introduce a new method to calculate the deflection angle from the Gaussian curvature of the optical metric. As examples, the Schwarzschild lens, the Plummer sphere and the singular isothermal sphere are discussed within this framework.
In this work, we calculate the quantum correction effects on the deflection of light in the spacetime geometry of a quantum improved Kerr black hole pierced by an infinitely long cosmic string. More precisely, we calculate the deflection angle by applying the Gauss--Bonnet theorem (GBT) to the osculating optical geometries related to the quantum improved rotating black hole in the weak limit approximation. We find that the deflection angle of light is affected by the quantum effects as well as the global topology due to the presence of the cosmic string. Besides, we have managed to find the sa…
Among the higher curvature gravities, the most extensively studied theory is the so-called Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet (EGB) gravity, whose Lagrangian contains Einstein term with the GB combination of quadratic curvature terms, and the GB term yields nontrivial gravitational dynamics in $ D\geq5$. Recently there has been a surge of interest in regularizing, a $ D \to 4 $ limit of, the EGB gravity, and the resulting regularized $4D$ EGB gravity valid in $4D$. We consider gravitational lensing by Charged black holes in the $4D$ EGB gravity theory to calculate the light deflection coefficients in stron…
In the present work we study (i) charged black hole in Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet (EGB) theory, known as Einstein-Maxwell-Gauss-Bonnet (EMGB) black hole and (ii) black hole in EGB gravity with Yang-Mills field. The thermodynamic geometry of these two black hole solutions has been investigated, using the modified entropy in Gauss-Bonnet theory.
Gauss-Bonnet gravity provides one of the most promising frameworks to study curvature corrections to the Einstein action in supersymmetric string theories, while avoiding ghosts and keeping second order field equations. Although Schwarzschild-type solutions for Gauss-Bonnet black holes have been known for long, the Kerr-Gauss-Bonnet metric is missing. In this paper, a five dimensional Gauss-Bonnet approximation is analytically derived for spinning black holes and the related thermodynamical properties are briefly outlined.
In this paper, we will generalize the Gauss-Bonnet gravity to an energy dependent Gauss-Bonnet theory of gravity, which we shall call as the Gauss-Bonnet gravity's rainbow. We will also couple this theory to a Maxwell's theory. We will analyze black hole solutions in this energy dependent Gauss-Bonnet gravity's rainbow. We will calculate the modifications to the thermodynamics of black holes in the Gauss-Bonnet's gravity's rainbow. We will demonstrate that even though the thermodynamics of the black holes get modified in the Gauss-Bonnet gravity's rainbow, the first law of thermodynamics still…
We study the motion of charged and spinning particles and photons in the $4D$ charged Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet (EGB) black hole vicinity. We determine the radius of the innermost stable circular orbit (ISCO) for test particles. We show that the combined effect of the Gauss-Bonnet (GB) coupling parameter and black hole charge decreases the ISCO and the radius of the photon sphere. Further, we study the gravitational deflection angle and show that the impact of GB term and black hole charge on it is quite noticeable. We also consider the effect of plasma and find the analytical form of the deflecti…
We study the shadow cast or silhouette generated by a Kerr-Newman-Kasuya (KNK) spacetime (rotating dyon black hole). It is shown that in addition to the angular momentum of the black hole, the dyon charge also affects the shadow image of the KNK black hole. Moreover, we analyze the weak gravitational lensing by the KNK black hole by using the Gauss-Bonnet theorem. Finally, we find that extra dyon charge decreases both the deflection angle and shadow of the KNK black hole.
This paper deals with five-dimensional black hole solutions in (a) Einstein-Yang-Mills-Gauss-Bonnet theory and (b)Einstein-Maxwell-Gauss-Bonnet theory with a cosmological constant for spherically symmetric space time. The geometry of the black hole thermodynamics has been studied for both the black holes.
In this work, we investigate the weak deflection angle of light from exact black hole within the non-linear electrodynamics. First we calculate the Gaussian optical curvature using the optical spacetime geometry. With the help of modern geometrical way popularized by Gibbons and Werner, we examine the deflection angle of light from exact black hole. For this desire, we determine the optical Gaussian curvature and execute the Gauss-Bonnet theorem on optical metric and calculate the leading terms of deflection angle in the weak limit approximation. Furthermore, we likewise study the plasma mediu…
This paper is devoted to compute the weak deflection angle for Kalb-Ramond traversable wormhole solution in plasma and dark matter mediums by using the method of Gibbons and Werner. To acquire our results, we evaluate Gaussian optical curvature by utilizing the Gauss-Bonnet theorem in the weak field limits. We also investigate the graphical influence of deflection angle $\tildeα$ with respect to the impact parameter $σ$ and minimal radius $r_0$ in plasma medium. Moreover, we derive the deflection angle by using different method known as Keeton and Petters method. We also examine that if we rem…
In this paper, we study the deflection of light by a class of charged wormholes within the context of the Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory. The primordial wormholes are predicted to exist in the early universe, where inflation driven by the dilaton field. We perform our analysis through optical geometry using the Gibbons-Werner method (GW), by adopting the Gauss-Bonnet theorem and the standard geodesics approach. We report an interesting result for the deflection angle in leading-order terms--namely, the deflection angle increases due to the electric charge $Q$ and the magnetic charge $P$, wher…
We report the effect of the cosmological constant and the internal energy density of a cosmic string on the deflection angle of light in the spacetime of a rotating cosmic string with internal structure. We first revisit the deflection angle by a rotating cosmic string and then provide a generalization using the geodesic equations and the Gauss-Bonnet Theorem. We show there is an agreement between the two methods when employing higher order terms of the linear mass density of the cosmic string. By modifying the integration domain for the global conical topology, we resolve the inconsistency be…
We write down an anisotropic solution for a flat 5+1 dimensional Universe in Gauss-Bonnet gravity. In the model under investigation this solution replaces the generalized Kasner solution near a cosmological singularity.
We consider the Gauss-Bonnet corrected Bardeen black hole solution in 4-D AdS space-time. The solution is obtained by the limiting procedure adopted by Glavan and Lin in 4-D Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity. The general form of first law of black hole thermodynamics is utilized to calculate various thermodynamics variables. The solution exhibit P-v criticality and belong to the universality class of van-der Waals fluid. The effect of Gauss-Bonnet coupling is investigated on critical parameters and inversion temperature.
The time delay between two relativistic images in the strong gravitational lensing governed by Gauss-Bonnet gravity is studied. We derive and calculate the expression of time delay due to the Gauss-Bonnet coupling. It is shown that the time delay for two images with larger space each other is longer. We also find that the ratio of Gauss-Bonnet coefficient and the mass of gravitational source changes in the region like $\fracα{M}\in[0,2)$. The time delay is divergent with $\fracα{M}\longrightarrow 2$.
We investigate the Lorentz symmetry breaking effects (LSBE) on the deflection of light by a rotating cosmic string spacetime in the weak limit approximation. We first calculate the deflection angle by a static cosmic string for a fixed spacelike 4-vector case (FSL) with the corresponding effective-string optical metric using the Gauss-Bonnet theorem (GBT). Then, we focus on a more general scenario, namely we calculate the deflection angle by a rotating cosmic string applying the GBT to Randers effective-string metric. We obtain a significant modification in the deflection angle because of the …
We study the massless scalar, Dirac and electro-magnetic fields propagating on a 4D-brane, which is embedded in higher dimensional Gauss-Bonnet space-time. We calculate, in time-domain, the fundamental quasi-normal modes of a spherically symmetric black hole for such fields. We observe also a universal behavior, independent on a field and value of the Gauss-Bonnet parameter, at asymptotically late time.
The influence of non-minimal coupling of a scalar field and the Gauss-Bonnet term on the inflationary stage of evolution of the universe is investigated in this paper. The main cosmological effects of such a coupling were considered. The deviations between Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet inflation and standard one based on Einstein gravity were determined. The corrections of a weak GB coupling preserving the type of the scalar field potential to standard inflationary models is considered as well.
We have investigated tidal forces and geodesic deviation motion in the 4D-Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet spacetime. Our results show that tidal force and geodesic deviation motion depend sharply on the sign of Gauss-Bonnet coupling constant. Comparing with Schwarzschild spacetime, the strength of tidal force becomes stronger for the negative Gauss-Bonnet coupling constant, but is weaker for the positive one. Moreover, tidal force behaves like those in the Schwarzschild spacetime as the coupling constant is negative, and like those in Reissner-Nordström black hole as the constant is positive. We also pr…
We consider black hole in Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet(EGB) gravity in a dynamical setup and also the stationary black hole in recently discovered\cite{Glavan} $4$-dimensional novel Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity. For dynamical EGB black hole in completely local settings we calculate the temperature associated with the horizon. For the stationary black hole in $4$-dimensional novel EGB theory we explore the thermodynamic properties including calculation of temperature and entropy.
