We give some necessary and some sufficient conditions for the complete monotonicity on the negative half-line of a Mittag-Leffler function of Le Roy type. It is conjectured that the underlying positive random variable, when it exists, must be logarithmically infinitely divisible.
Our aim in this report is to investigate the asymptotic behavior of Mittag-Leffler functions. We give some estimates involving the Mittag-Leffler functions and their derivatives.
In this paper some Turán type inequalities for classical and generalized Mittag-Leffler functions are considered. The method is based on proving monotonicity for special ratio of sections for series of Mittag-Leffler functions. Some applications are considered to Lazarević and Wilker-type inequalities for classical and generalized Mittag-Leffler functions. At the end some open problems are formulated.
In this paper, we present an extension of Mittag-Leffler function by using the extension of beta functions (Özergin et al. in J. Comput. Appl. Math. 235 (2011), 4601-4610) and obtain some integral representation of this newly defined function. Also, we present the Mellin transform of this function in terms of Wright hypergeometric function. Furthermore, we show that the extended fractional derivative of the usual Mittag-Leffler function gives the extension of Mittag-Leffler function.
This paper deals with a Euler type integral operator involving k-Mittag-Leffler function defined by Gupta and Parihar [8]. Furthermore, some special cases are also taken into consideration.
In this paper we consider the problem on estimates for Mittag-Leffler functions with the smooth phase functions of two variables having singularities of type $D_{\infty} $, $D_{4}^{\pm}$ and $A_{r}$. The generalisation is that we replace the exponential function with the Mittag-Leffler-type function, to study oscillatory type integrals. We extend results of paper \cite{Ruzhansky} and \cite{Ruzhansky2021} to two-dimensional integrals with phase having some simple singularities.
We consider the asymptotic expansion of the generalised exponential integral involving the Mittag-Leffler function introduced recently by Mainardi and Masina [{\it Fract. Calc. Appl. Anal.} {\bf 21} (2018) 1156--1169]. We extend the definition of this function using the two-parameter Mittag-Leffler function. The expansions of the similarly extended sine and cosine integrals are also discussed. Numerical examples are presented to illustrate the accuracy of each type of expansion obtained.
We aim to introduce a new extension of Mittag-Leffler function via q-analogue and obtained their significant properties including integral representation, q-differentiation, q-Laplace transform, image formula under q-derivative operators. We also consider some particular cases to give the applications of our main results.
The main object of this paper is to present a new generalized beta function which defined by three parametres Mittag-Leffler function. We also introduce new generalizations of hypergeometric and confluent hypergeometric functions with the help of new generalized beta function. Furthermore, we obtained various properties of these functions such as integral representations, Mellin transforms, differentiation formulas, transformation formulas, recurrence relations and summation formula.
In this manuscript we define the right fractional derivative and its corresponding right fractional integral for the recently introduced nonlocal fractional derivative with Mittag-Leffler kernel. Then, we obtain the related integration by parts formula. We use the $Q-$operator to confirm our results. The corresponding Euler-Lagrange equations are obtained and one illustrative example is discussed.
This paper aims to investigate properties associated with fractional integral operators involving the three-parameters Mittag-Leffler function in the kernels with respect to another function. We prove that the Cauchy problem and the Volterra integral equation are equivalent. We find a closed-form to the solution of the Cauchy problem using successive approximations method and $ψ$-Caputo fractional derivative.
There is no unified method to solve the fractional differential equation. The type of derivative here used in this paper is of Jumarie formulation, for the several differential equations studied. Here we develop an algorithm to solve the linear fractional differential equation composed via Jumarie fractional derivative in terms of Mittag-Leffler function; and show its conjugation with ordinary calculus. In these fractional differential equations the one parameter Mittag-Leffler function plays the role similar as exponential function used in ordinary differential equations.
We introduce and study the properties of a new family of fractional differential and integral operators which are based directly on an iteration process and therefore satisfy a semigroup property. We also solve some ODEs in this new model and discuss applications of our results.
We define an analogue of the classical Mittag-Leffler function which is applied to two variables, and establish its basic properties. Using a corresponding single-variable function with fractional powers, we define an associated fractional integral operator which has many interesting properties. The motivation for these definitions is twofold: firstly their link with some fundamental fractional differential equations involving two independent fractional orders, and secondly the fact that they emerge naturally from certain applications in bioengineering.
In this survey we stress the importance of the higher transcendental Mittag-Leffler function in the framework of the Fractional Calculus. We first start with the analytical properties of the classical Mittag-Leffler function as derived from being the solution of the simplest fractional differential equation governing relaxation processes. Through the Sections of the text we plan to address the reader in this pathway towards the main applications of the Mittag-Leffler function that has induced us in the past to define it as the Queen Function of the Fractional Calculus. These applications conce…
Integral Mittag-Leffler, Whittaker and Wright functions with integrands similar to those which already exist in mathematical literature are introduced for the first time. For particular values of parameters, they can be presented in closed-form. In most reported cases, these new integral functions are expressed as generalized hypergeometric functions but also in terms of elementary and special functions. The behavior of some of the new integral functions is presented in graphical form. By using the MATHEMATICA program to obtain infinite sums that define the Mittag-Leffler, Whittaker, and Wrigh…
The main objective of this article is to present $ν$-fractional derivative $μ$-differentiable functions by considering 4-parameters extended Mittag-Leffler function (MLF). We investigate that the new $ν$-fractional derivative satisfies various properties of order calculus such as chain rule, product rule, Rolle's and mean-value theorems for $μ$-differentiable function and its extension. Moreover, we define the generalized form of inverse property and the fundamental theorem of calculus and the mean-value theorem for integrals. Also, we establish a relationship with fractional integral through …
We prove two inequalities for the Mittag-Leffler function, namely that the function $\log E_α(x^α)$ is sub-additive for $0<α<1,$ and super-additive for $α>1.$ These assertions follow from two new binomial inequalities, one of which is a converse to the neo-classical inequality. The proofs use a generalization of the binomial theorem due to Hara and Hino (Bull. London Math. Soc. 2010). For $0<α<2,$ we also show that $E_α(x^α)$ is log-concave resp. log-convex, using analytic as well as probabilistic arguments.
We consider the asymptotic expansion of the single-parameter Mittag-Leffler function $E_a(-x)$ for $x\to+\infty$ as the parameter $a\to1$. The dominant expansion when $0<a<1$ consists of an algebraic expansion of $O(x^{-1})$ (which vanishes when $a=1$), together with an exponentially small contribution that approaches $e^{-x}$ as $a\to 1$. Here we concentrate on the form of this exponentially small expansion when $a$ approaches the value 1. Numerical examples are presented to illustrate the accuracy of the expansion so obtained.
We establish a new formula for the fractional derivative with Mittag-Leffler kernel, in the form of a series of Riemann-Liouville fractional integrals, which brings out more clearly the non-locality of fractional derivatives and is easier to handle for certain computational purposes. We also prove existence and uniqueness results for certain families of linear and nonlinear fractional ODEs defined using this fractional derivative. We consider the possibility of a semigroup property for these derivatives, and establish extensions of the product rule and chain rule, with an application to fracti…
We introduce a new derivative, the so-called truncated $\mathcal{V}$-fractional derivative for $α$-differentiable functions through the six parameters truncated Mittag-Leffler function, which generalizes different fractional derivatives, recently introduced: conformable fractional derivatives, alternative fractional derivative, truncated alternative fractional derivative, $M$-fractional derivative and truncated $M$-fractional derivative. This new truncated $\mathcal{V}$-fractional derivative satisfies properties of the entire order calculus, among them: linearity, product rule, quotient rule, …
Motivated essentially by the success of the applications of the Mittag-Leffler functions in many areas of science and engineering, the authors present in a unified manner, a detailed account or rather a brief survey of the Mittag- Leffler function, generalized Mittag-Leffler functions, Mittag-Leffler type functions, and their interesting and useful properties. Applications of Mittag-Leffler functions in certain areas of physical and applied sciences are also demonstrated. During the last two decades this function has come into prominence after about nine decades of its discovery by a Swedish m…
This paper presents a first result of a long term research project dealing with the construction of d-orthogonal polynomials with Hahn's property. We shall show that the latter class could be characterized by expanding a polynomial as a finite sum of first derivatives of the elements of the sequence and we shall explain how this characterization could be used to construct Hahn-classical d-orthogonal polynomials as well. In this paper we look for solutions of linear combinations of the first derivatives of two consecutive elements of the sequence by considering the derivative operator and Delta…
In this study our aim to define the extended $(p,q)$-Mittag-Leffler(ML) function by using extension of beta functions and to obtain the integral representation of new function. We also take the Mellin transform of this new function in terms of Wright hypergeometric function. Extended fractional derivative of the classical Mittag-Leffler(ML) function leads the extended (p,q)-Mittag-Leffler(ML) function.
The zero distribution of sections of Mittag-Leffler functions of order >1 was studied in 1983 by A. Edrei, E.B. Saff and R.S. Varga. In the present paper, we study the zero distribution of linear combinations of sections and tails of Mittag-Leffler functions of order >1.
We establish a new natural extension of Mittag-Leffler function with three variables which is so called "trivariate Mittag-Leffler function". The trivariate Mittag-Leffler function can be expressed via complex integral representation by putting to use of the eminent Hankel's integral. We also investigate Laplace integral relation and convolution result for a univariate version of this function. Moreover, we present fractional derivative of trivariate Mittag-Leffler function in Caputo type and we also discuss Riemann- Liouville type fractional integral and derivative of this function. The link …
This paper proposes a global Padé approximation of the generalized Mittag-Leffler function $E_{α,β}(-x)$ with $x\in[0,+\infty)$. This uniform approximation can account for both the Taylor series for small arguments and asymptotic series for large arguments. Based on the complete monotonicity of the function $E_{α,β}(-x)$, we work out the global Padé approximation [1/2] for the particular cases $\{0<α<1, β>α\}$, $\{0<α=β<1\}$, and $\{α=1, β>1\}$, respectively. Moreover, these approximations are inverted to yield a global Padé approximation of the inverse generalized Mittag-Leffler function $-L_…
The paper by R. Garrappa, S. Rogosin, and F. Mainardi, entitled {\em On a generalized three-parameter Wright function of the Le Roy type} and published in [Fract. Calc. Appl. Anal. {\bf 20} (2017) 1196-1215], ends up leaving the open question concerning the range of the parameters $α, β$ and $γ$ for which Mittag-Leffler functions of Le Roy type $F_{α, β}^{(γ)}$ are completely monotonic. Inspired by the 1948 seminal H. Pollard's paper which provides the proof of the complete monotonicity of the one parameter Mittag-Leffler function, the Pollard approach is used to find the Laplace transform rep…
In this paper we study linear and nonlinear fractional differential equations involving the Caputo fractional derivative with Mittag-Leffler non-singular kernel of order $0<α<1.$ We first obtain a new estimate of the fractional derivative of a function at its extreme points and derive a necessary condition for the existence of a solution to the linear fractional equation. The obtained sufficient condition determine the initial condition of the associated fractional initial value problem. We then derive comparison principles to the linear fractional equations. We apply these principles to obtai…
In reaction rate theory, in production-destruction type models and in reaction-diffusion problems when the total derivatives are replaced by fractional derivatives the solutions are obtained in terms of Mittag-Leffler functions and their generalizations. When fractional calculus enters into the picture the solutions of these problems, usually available in terms of generalized hypergeometric functions, switch to Mittag-Leffler functions and their generalizations into Wright functions and subsequently into Fox functions. In this paper, connections are established among generalized Mittag-Leffler…
In this paper we consider the problem of estimation of oscillatory integrals with Mittag-Leffler functions in two variables. The generalisation is that we replace the exponential function with the Mittag-Leffler-type function, to study oscillatory type integrals.

Generalization of the integral representation of the gamma function has been obtained, which shows that the Hankel contour assumes rotation in the complex plane. The range of admissible values for the contour rotation angle is set. Using this integral representation, generalization of the integral representation of the Mittag-Leffler function has been obtained that expresses the value of this function in terms of the contour integral.
In this paper the Mittag-Leffler function is given through the exponential functions for any rational derivatives of m/n order, where m<n, n>1 are natural irreducible numbers (if n=1 then m is also equal to unity). Unlike the previous papers the given formulas do not contain integrals.
We consider two operations on the Mittag-Leffler function which cancel the exponential term in the expansion at infinity, and generate a completely monotonic function. The first one is the action of a certain differential-difference operator, and leads to a characterization via some necktie domain. The second one is the subtraction of the exponential term itself multiplied by an incomplete Gamma function. These results extend previous works by various authors.
In this paper we survey the properties of the Schelkunoff modification of the Exponential integral and we generalize it with the Mittag-Leffler function. So doing we get a new special function (as far as we know) that may be relevant in linear viscoelasticity because of its complete monotonicity properties in the time domain. We also consider the generalized sine and cosine integral functions
We introduce new fractional operators of variable order on isolated time scales with Mittag-Leffler kernels. This allows a general formulation of a class of fractional variational problems involving variable-order difference operators. Main results give fractional integration by parts formulas and necessary optimality conditions of Euler-Lagrange type.
The problem of calculating the Mittag-Leffler function $E_{ρ,μ} (z)$ is considered in the paper. To solve this problem integral representations for the function $E_{ρ,μ}(z)$ are transformed in such a way that they could not contain complex variables and parameters. Integral representations written in this form allow one to use standard methods of numerical integration to calculate integrals contained in them. To verify the correctness of the integral representations obtained the function $E_{ρ,μ}(z)$ was calculated both with the use of obtained formulas and with the use of known representation…
Very recently, some authors have studied new types of fractional derivatives whose kernels are nonsingular. In this article, we study Sturm-Liouville Equations ($SLEs$) in the frame of fractional operators with Mittag-Leffler kernels. We formulate some Fractional Sturm-Liouville Problems ($FSLPs$) with the diffferential part containing the left and right sided derivatives. We investigate the self-adjointness, eigenvalue and eigenfunction properties of the corresponding Fractional Sturm-Liouville Operators ($FSLOs$) by using fractional integration by parts formulas. The nabla discrete version o…
This paper deals with the solution of unified fractional reaction-diffusion systems. The results are obtained in compact and elegant forms in terms of Mittag-Leffler functions and generalized Mittag-Leffler functions, which are suitable for numerical computation. On account of the most general character of the derived results, numerous results on fractional reaction, fractional diffusion, and fractional reaction-diffusion problems scattered in the literature, including the recently derived results by the authors for reaction-diffusion models, follow as special cases.
The paper explores various special functions which generalize the two-parametric Mittag-Leffler type function of two variables. Integral representations for these functions in different domains of variation of arguments for certain values of the parameters are obtained. The asymptotic expansions formulas and asymptotic properties of such functions are also established for large values of the variables. This provides statements of theorems for these formulas and their corresponding properties.
The integral representation of the two-parameter Mittag-Leffler function $E_{ρ,μ}(z)$ is considered in the paper that expresses its value in terms of the contour integral. For this integral representation, the transition is made from integration over a complex variable to integration over real variables. It is shown that as a result of such a transition, the integral representation of the function $E_{ρ,μ}(z)$ has two forms: the representation ``A'' and ``B''. Each of these representations has its advantages and drawbacks. In the paper, the corresponding theorems are formulated and proved, and…
The paper presents an integral representation of the two-parameter Mittag-Leffler function $E_{ρ,μ}(z)$ and singular points of this representation have been studied. It has been found that there are two singular points for this integral representation: $ζ=1$ and $ζ=0$. The point $ζ=1$ is a pole of the first order and the point $ζ=0$, depending on the values of parameters $ρ,μ$ is either a pole or a branch point, or a regular point. The subsequent study showed that at some values of parameters $ρ,μ$ with the help of the residue theory one can calculate the integral included in the studied integ…
We consider an integral transform introduced by Prabhakar, involving generalised multi-parameter Mittag-Leffler functions, which can be used to introduce and investigate several different models of fractional calculus. We derive a new series expression for this transform, in terms of classical Riemann-Liouville fractional integrals, and use it to obtain or verify series formulae in various specific cases corresponding to different fractional-calculus models. We demonstrate the power of our result by applying the series formula to derive analogues of the product and chain rules in more general …
Integral representations play a prominent role in the analysis of entire functions. The representations of generalized Mittag-Leffler type functions and their asymptotics have been (and still are) investigated by plenty of authors in various conditions and cases. The present paper explores the integral representations of a special function extending to two variables the two-parametric Mittag-Leffler type function. Integral representations of this functions within different variation ranges of its arguments for certain values of the parameters are thus obtained. Asymptotic expansion formulas and…
In this paper, the generalized fractional integral operators of two generalized Mittag-Leffler type functions are investigated. The special cases of interest involve the generalized Fox--Wright function and the generalized M-series and K-function. In the next Section 2 we first recall some generalized fractional integral operators among the most widely used in fractional calculus. Section 3 is devoted to the definitions of M-series and K-function and their relations to special functions. In Sections 4 and 5, effective fractional calculus of the generalized M-series and the K-function is carrie…
The linear operator $c + (-Δ)^{α/2}$, where $c > 0$ and $(-Δ)^{α/2}$ is the fractional Laplacian on the periodic domain, arises in the existence of periodic travelling waves in the fractional Korteweg--de Vries equation. We establish a relation of the Green's function of this linear operator with the Mittag--Leffler function, which was previously used in the context of Riemann--Liouville's and Caputo's fractional derivatives. By using this relation, we prove that Green's function is strictly positive and single-lobe (monotonically decreasing away from the maximum point) for every $c > 0$ and e…
