We calculate the gravitational form factors of the excited $N(1535)$ state with the quantum numbers $I(J^P)=\frac{1}{2}(\frac{1}{2}^-)$ via light cone QCD sum rules (LCSR). To this end, we consider the quark part of the energy-momentum tensor (EMT) current and use the general form of the nucleon's interpolating field as well as the distribution amplitudes (DAs) of $N(1535)$. As both the nucleon and $N(1535)$ couple to the same current, the $N(1535) \rightarrow N$ gravitational transition form factors are entered to the calculations as the main input parameters. First we revisit the transitional gravitational form factors of $N(1535) \rightarrow N$, then extract the values of the form factors of the $N(1535)$ excited state. We observe that the gravitational form factors of $N(1535)$ in terms of $Q^2$ are well described by the multipole fit function. As a byproduct, we also calculate the pressure and energy density at the center of $N(1535)$ and estimate its mechanical radius.
We present the first direct calculation on the gravitational form factors (GFFs) of the $N \rightarrow Δ$ transition using an analytic method, the QCD light-cone sum rules. The matrix element of the quark part of the energy momentum tensor current sandwiched between the nucleon and $Δ$ states are parameterized in terms of five independent conserved and four independent non-conserved GFFs, for calculation of which we use the distribution amplitudes (DAs) of the on-shell nucleon expanded in terms of functions with different twists. We present the results for two sets of light-cone input paramete…
Using the quantum chromodynamics (QCD) equation of state (EoS) from lattice calculations we investigate effects from QCD on primordial gravitational waves (PGWs) produced during the inflationary era. We also consider different cases for vanishing and nonvanishing lepton asymmetry where the latter one is constrained by cosmic microwave background experiments. Our results show that there is up to a few percent deviation in the predicted gravitational wave background in the frequency range around the QCD transition ($10^{-10}- 10^{-7}$~Hz) for different lattice QCD EoSs, or at larger frequencies …
The quark parts of the gravitational form factors of hyperons are calculated by means of the light-cone QCD sum rule. In the calculations, the distribution amplitudes (DAs) of $Σ$, $Ξ$ and $Λ$ together with the general forms of their interpolating currents as well as the quark part of the energy-momentum tensor current are used. These form factors can provide information on their mass and distributions of the angular momentum, energy and pressure inside the hyperons. It is obtained that the $Q^2$ dependencies of the hyperon gravitational form factors are nicely characterized by a multipole fit…
We study the gravitational wave spectrum from the confinement-deconfinement phase transi-tion in the holographic QCD models for both light quark and heavy quark. We obtain the gravitationalwave spectrum in the deflagration, detonation and runaway cases for different chemical potentials and duration of the phase transition. We find that the gravitational wave spectrum could be observed by EPTA/IPTA and eLISA for large chemical potential and short duartion of phase transtions.
We calculate gravitational form factors of vector mesons using a holographic model of QCD. These provide restrictions on the generalized parton distributions of vector mesons, via the sum rules connecting stress tensor form factors to GPDs. We concentrate on the traceless part of the stress tensor, which suffices to fix the momentum and angular momentum sum rules. The vector mesons appear noticeably more compact measured by the gravitational form factors than by the charge form factor.
We construct an improved soft-wall AdS/QCD model with a cubic coupling term of the dilaton and the bulk scalar field. The background fields in this model are solved from the Einstein-dilaton system with a nontrivial dilaton potential, which has been shown to be able to reproduce the equation of state from lattice QCD with two flavors. The chiral transition behaviors are investigated in the improved soft-wall AdS/QCD model with the solved gravitational background, and the crossover transition can be realized. Our study provides a possibility to address the deconfining and chiral phase transitio…
We consider a holographic study of coupling dependent gravitational waves produced by the cosmic first order QCD phase transition at finite baryochemical potential. In the dual description, the first-order QCD phase transition corresponds to the first-order Hawking-Page phase transition in Gauss-Bonnet gravity. At intermediate coupling, we obtain key quantities characterizing the gravitational wave energy density spectrum. We then find that the gravitational waves might be detected for sufficiently large Gauss-Bonnet coupling, while sound waves play an important role in the spectrum. We also c…
The spectrum of gravitational waves that have been produced in inflation is modified during cosmological transitions. Large drops in the number of relativistic particles, like during the QCD transition or at $e^+e^-$ annihilation, lead to steps in the spectrum of gravitational waves. We calculate the transfer function for the differential energy density of gravitational waves for a first-order and for a crossover QCD transition.
We study the gravitational waves produced by the collision of the bubbles as a probe for the cosmological first order QCD phase transition, considering heavy static quarks. Using AdS/QCD and the correspondence between a first order Hawking-Page phase transition and confinement-deconfinement phase transition, we find the spectrum and the strain amplitude of the gravitational wave within the hard and soft wall models. We postulate the duration of the phase transition corresponds to the evaporation time of the black hole in the five dimensional dual gravity space, and thereby obtain a bound on th…
We propose a novel mechanism for the production of gravitational waves in the early Universe that originates from the relaxation processes induced by the QCD phase transition. While the energy density of the quark-gluon mean-field is monotonously decaying in real time, its pressure undergoes a series of violent oscillations at the characteristic QCD time scales that generates a primordial multi-peaked gravitational waves' signal in the radio frequencies' domain. The signal as an echo of the QCD phase transition, and is accessible by the FAST and SKA telescopes.
We calculate the stress tensor, or energy-momentum tensor, form factors of the pion and of axial vector mesons in the chiral limit of a hard wall AdS/CFT model of QCD. One (of the two) pion gravitational form factors is directly related to the second moment of the pion generalized parton distribution, thus providing a sum rule for the latter. As was also the case for vector mesons, both the pion and the axial vector mesons appear strikingly more compact measured by the gravitational form factor than by the electromagnetic form factor.
We calculate the gravitational form factors (GFFs) and pressure, shear and energy distributions for a quark state dressed with a gluon at one loop in QCD. We use the light-front Hamiltonian approach. In the light-front gauge, we use a two-component formalism to eliminate the constrained fields. The state may be thought of as a perturbative model for a relativistic spin $1/2$ composite system having a gluonic degree of freedom. We compare the results with model calculations for a nucleon.
Drastic changes in the early universe such as first-order phase transition can produce a stochastic gravitational wave (GW) background. We investigate the testability of a scale invariant extension of the standard model (SM) using the GW background produced by the chiral phase transition in a strongly interacting QCD-like hidden sector, which, via a SM singlet real scalar mediator, triggers the electroweak phase transition. Using the Nambu--Jona-Lasinio method in a mean field approximation we estimate the GW signal and find that it can be tested by future space based detectors.
Locating the critical endpoint of QCD and the region of a first-order phase transition at finite baryon chemical potential is an active research area for QCD matter. We provide a gravitational dual description of QCD matter at finite baryon chemical potential and finite temperature using the non-perturbative approach from gauge/gravity duality. After fixing all model parameters using state-of-the-art lattice QCD data at zero chemical potential, the predicted equations of state and QCD trace anomaly relation are in quantitative agreement with the latest lattice results. We then give the exact l…
The diffractive photoproduction of $J/Ψ$ on a nucleon, is mostly due to gluonic exchanges at all $\sqrt{s}$. In holographic QCD (large number of colors and strong $^\prime$t Hooft coupling), these exchanges are captured by gravitons near threshold, and their Reggeized Pomeron form asymptotically. We revisit our holographic analysis of the A and D gravitational form factors in light of the new lattice data, and use them to refine our predictions for the photoproduction of $J/Ψ$ near threshold, and the comparison to the GlueX data. We use these results to estimate the scalar and mass radii of th…
By using the quark part of the energy-momentum tensor current, the gravitational formfactors of the $ ρ$ meson are calculated within the light-cone sum rules method. In the considered version, the energy-momentum tensor current is not conserved and as a result, there appear nine formfactors, six (three) of which correspond to the conservation (nonconservation) of the energy-momentum tensor current. We also compare our results with the one existing in the literature.
Cosmological phase transitions can be a source of Stochastic Gravitational Wave (SGW) background. Apart from the dynamics of the phase transition, the characteristic frequency and the fractional energy density $Ω_{\rm gw}$ of the SGW depends upon the temperature of the transition. In this article, we compute the SGW spectrum in the light of QCD equation of state provided by the lattice results. We find that the inclusion of trace anomaly from lattice QCD, enhances the SGW signal generated during QCD phase transition by $\sim 50\%$ and the peak frequency of the QCD era SGW are shifted higher by…
The nuclear configurational entropy (NCE) is employed to derive two parameters encoding the Pomeron Regge trajectory and the spectrum of closed strings, which are also related to the glueball mass, precisely matching data of the TOTEM collaboration at the LHC. In the Regge regime of holographic QCD, the (Reggeized) glueball propagator and the gravitational form factor of the proton occupy a relevant spot in AdS/QCD. They are used for deriving the cross-sections for the TeV scale proton-proton scattering process, which are the main ingredient for computing the NCE. The nuclear configurational s…
The axion solution to the strong CP problem is delicately sensitive to Peccei-Quinn breaking contributions that are misaligned with respect to QCD instantons. Heavy QCD axion models are appealing because they avoid this so-called "quality problem". We show that generic realizations of this framework can be probed by the LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA interferometers, through the stochastic gravitational wave (GW) signal sourced by the long-lived axionic string-domain wall network, and by upcoming measurements of the neutron and proton Electric Dipole Moments. Additionally, we provide predictions for searche…
Taking into account only the quark part of the energy-momentum tensor, the gravitational form-factors of the $ π$ and $ K $ mesons are calculated within the light-cone sum rules method using the distribution amplitudes of these pseudoscalar mesons. The $ Q^2 $-dependence of the relevant form-factors are obtained. Moreover, the mean square mass radii of $ π$ and $ K $ mesons are calculated and we find that $ \sqrt{\langle r_π^2 \rangle} = 0.31 {\rm\ fm} $ and $ \sqrt{\langle r_{K}^2 \rangle} = 0.24 {\rm\ fm} $, respectively. We compare our results for gravitational form-factors with the existin…
The gravitational form factors are related to the matrix elements of the energy-momentum tensor $T^{μν}$. Using the light front wave functions of the scalar quark-diquark model for nucleon predicted by the soft-wall AdS/QCD, we calculate the flavor dependent $A(Q^2)$, $B(Q^2)$ and $\bar{C}(Q^2)$ form factors. We also present all the matrix element of the energy-momentum tensor in a transversely polarized state. Further, we evaluate the matrix element of Pauli-Lubanski operator in this model and show that the intrinsic spin sum rule involves the form factor $\bar{C}$. The longitudinal momentum …
Consistent with cosmological constraints, there are scenarios with the large lepton asymmetry which can lead to the finite baryochemical potential at the cosmic QCD phase transition scale. In this paper, we investigate this possibility in the holographic models. Using the holographic renormalization method, we find the first order Hawking-Page phase transition, between Reissner-Nordstr$\rm\ddot{o}$m AdS black hole and thermal charged AdS space, corresponding to the de/confinement phase transition. We obtain the gravitational wave spectra generated during the evolution of bubbles for a range of…
It is known that the trace anomaly in the QCD energy-momentum tensor $T^{μν}$ can be attributed to the anomalies for each of the gauge-invariant quark part and gluon part of $T^{μν}$, and their explicit three-loop formulas have been derived in the $\overline{\rm MS}$ scheme in the dimensional regularization. The matrix elements of this quark/gluon decomposition of the QCD trace anomaly allow us to derive the QCD constraints on the hadron's gravitational form factors, in particular, on the twist-four gravitational form factor, $\bar{C}_{q,g}$. Using the three-loop quark/gluon trace anomaly form…

One of the biggest puzzles in modern cosmology is the observed baryon asymmetry in the universe. In current models of baryogenesis gravity plays a secondary role, although the process is believed to have happened in the early universe, under the influence of an intense gravitational field. In the present work we resume Sakharov's original program for baryogenesis and propose a central role for gravity in the process. This is achieved through a non-minimal coupling (NMC) between the gravitational field and both the strong interaction field and the quark fields. When in action, the present mecha…
We investigate the nonradial oscillations of newly born neutron stars (NSs) and strange quark stars (SQSs). This is done with the relativistic nuclear field theory with hyperon degrees of freedom employed to describe the equation of state for the stellar matter in NSs, and with both the MIT bag model and the Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model adopted to construct the configurations of the SQSs. We find that the gravitational-mode ($g$-mode) eigenfrequencies of newly born SQSs are about one order of magnitude lower than those of NSs, which is independent of models implemented to describe the equation of…
The North American Nanohertz Observatory for Gravitational Waves (NANOGrav) collaboration has recently reported strong evidence for a stochastic process affecting the 12.5 yr dataset of pulsar timing residuals. We show that the signal can be interpreted in terms of a stochastic gravitational wave background emitted from a network of axionic strings in the early Universe. The spontaneous breaking of the Peccei-Quinn symmetry originate the axionic string network and the QCD axion, the dark matter particle in the model. We explore a non-standard cosmological model driven by an exotic scalar field…
Conformal symmetry has important consequences for strong interactions at short distances and provides powerful tools for practical calculations. Even if the Lagrangians of Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) and Electrodynamics (QED) are invariant under conformal transformations, this symmetry is broken by quantum corrections. The signature of the symmetry breaking is encoded in the presence of massless poles in correlators involving stress-energy tensors. We present a general study of the correlation functions $\langle TJJ\rangle$ and $\langle TTJJ\rangle$ of conformal field theory (CFT) in the flat…

The form factors for the hadron matrix element of the QCD energy-momentum tensor not only describe the coupling of the hadron with a graviton as the ``gravitational form factors'', but also serve as unique quantities for describing the shape inside the hadron reflecting dynamics of quarks and gluons, such as the internal shear forces acting on the quarks/gluons and their pressure distributions. We consider the gravitational form factors for a hadron, in particular, for a (pseudo)scalar hadron and for the nucleon. We derive and clarify the relations satisfied by the gravitational form factors a…
