A system of interacting multiclass finite-state jump processes is analyzed. The model under consideration consists of a block-structured network with dynamically changing multi-colors nodes. The interaction is local and described through local empirical measures. Two levels of heterogeneity are considered: between and within the blocks where the nodes are labeled into two types. The central nodes are those connected only to the nodes of the same block whereas the peripheral nodes are connected to both the nodes of the same block and to some nodes from other blocks. The limits of such systems as the number of particles tends to infinity are investigated. Under regularity conditions on the peripheral nodes, propagation of chaos and law of large numbers are established in a multi-population setting. In particular, it is shown that, as the number of nodes goes to infinity, the behavior of the different classes of nodes can be represented by the solution of a McKean-Vlasov system. Moreover, we prove large deviation principles for the vectors of empirical measures and the empirical processes.
We present an algorithm to solve BSDEs with jumps based on Wiener Chaos Expansion and Picard's iterations. This paper extends the results given in Briand-Labart (2014) to the case of BSDEs with jumps. We get a forward scheme where the conditional expectations are easily computed thanks to chaos decomposition formulas. Concerning the error, we derive explicit bounds with respect to the number of chaos, the discretization time step and the number of Monte Carlo simulations. We also present numerical experiments. We obtain very encouraging results in terms of speed and accuracy.
Spatially structured neural networks driven by jump diffusion noise with monotone coefficients, fully path dependent delay and with a disorder parameter are considered. Well-posedness for the associated McKean-Vlasov equation and a corresponding propagation of chaos result in the infinite population limit are proven. Our existence result for the McKean-Vlasov equation is based on the Euler approximation, that is applied to this type of equation for the first time.
In this paper, we establish a large deviation principle for a stochastic evolution equation which describes the system governing the nematic liquid crystals driven by pure jump noise. The proof is based on the weak convergence approach.
In this paper, we establish a large deviation principle for the stochastic generalized Ginzburg-Landau equation driven by jump noise. The main difficulties come from the highly non-linear coefficient. Here we adopt a new sufficient condition for the weak convergence criteria, which is proposed by Matoussi, Sabbagh and Zhang (2021).
We obtain large deviation results for a two time-scale model of jump-diffusion processes. The processes on the two time scales are fully inter-dependent, the slow process has small perturbative noise and the fast process is ergodic. Our results extend previous large deviation results for diffusions. We provide concrete examples in their applications to finance and biology, with an explicit calculation of the large deviation rate function.
We establish uniqueness for a class of first-order Hamilton-Jacobi equations with Hamiltonians that arise from the large deviations of the empirical measure and empirical flux pair of weakly interacting Markov jump processes. As a corollary we obtain a large deviation principle for the trajectory of the empirical measure and empirical flux pair of such processes. As a second corollary we get same result in the setting where the jump-rates are time-periodic, with period-length that decreases to 0.
Moderate deviation principles for stochastic differential equations driven by a Poisson random measure (PRM) in finite and infinite dimensions are obtained. Proofs are based on a variational representation for expected values of positive functionals of a PRM.
Uniform large deviation principles for positive functionals of all equivalent types of infinite dimensional Brownian motions acting together with a Poisson random measure are established. The core of our approach is a variational representation formula which for an infinite sequence of i.i.d real Brownian motions and a Poisson random measure was shown in [5].
We prove strong small deviations results for Brownian motion under independent time-changes satisfying their own asymptotic criteria. We then apply these results to certain stochastic integrals which are elements of second-order homogeneous chaos.
IIn this paper we provide predictable and chaotic representations for Itô-Markov additive processes $X$. Such a process is governed by a finite-state CTMC $J$ which allows one to modify the parameters of the Itô-jump process (in so-called regime switching manner). In addition, the transition of $J$ triggers the jump of $X$ distributed depending on the states of $J$ just prior to the transition. This family of processes includes Markov modulated Itô-Lévy processes and Markov additive processes. The derived chaotic representation of a square-integrable random variable is given as a sum of stocha…
We consider a jump-diffusion process on a bounded domain with reflection at the boundary, and establish long-term results for a general additive process of its path. This includes the long-term behaviour of its occupation time in the interior and on the boundaries. We derive a characterization of the large deviation rate function which quantifies the rate of exponential decay of probabilities of rare events for paths of the process. The characterization relies on a solution of a partial integro-differential equation (PIDE) with boundary constraints. We develop a practical implementation of our…
Recently a considerable interest has been paid on the estimation problem of the realized volatility and covolatility by using high-frequency data of financial price processes in financial econometrics. Threshold estimation is one of the useful techniques in the inference for jump-type stochastic processes from discrete observations. In this paper, we adopt the threshold estimator introduced by Mancini where only the variations under a given threshold function are taken into account. The purpose of this work is to investigate large and moderate deviations for the threshold estimator of the inte…

This work studies a two-time-scale functional system given by two jump-diffusions under the scale separation by a small parameter $\varepsilon \rightarrow 0$. The coefficients of the equations that govern the dynamics of the system depend on the segment process of the slow variable (responsible for capturing delay effects on the slow component) and on the state of the fast variable. We derive a moderate deviations principle for the slow component of the system in the small noise limit using the weak convergence approach. The rate function is written in terms of the averaged dynamics associated…
We study the small noise asymptotics for two-dimensional Navier-Stokes equa- tions driven by Levy noise. Central limit theorem and moderate deviation are established under appropriate assumptions, which describes the exponen- tial rate of convergence of the stochastic solution to the deterministic solution.
For one-dimensional stochastic Burgers equation driven by Brownian motion and Poisson process, we study the $ψ$-uniformly exponential ergodicity with $ψ(x)=1+\|x\|$, the moderate deviation principle and the large deviation principle for the occupation measures.
A moderate deviation principle as well as moderate and large deviation inequalities for a sequence of elements living inside a fixed Wiener chaos associated with an isonormal Gaussian process are shown. The conditions under which the results are derived coincide with those of the celebrated fourth moment theorem of Nualart and Peccati. The proofs rely on sharp estimates for cumulants. As applications, explosive integrals of a Brownian sheet, a discretized version of the quadratic variation of a fractional Brownian motion and the sample bispectrum of a spherical Gaussian random field are consid…
The large deviations principle for the empirical measure for both continuous and discrete time Markov processes is well known. Various expressions are available for the rate function, but these expressions are usually as the solution to a variational problem, and in this sense not explicit. An interesting class of continuous time, reversible processes was identified in the original work of Donsker and Varadhan for which an explicit expression is possible. While this class includes many (reversible) processes of interest, it excludes the case of continuous time pure jump processes, such as a re…
The aim of this paper is threefold. Firstly, we prove the existence and the uniqueness of a global strong (in both the probabilistic and the PDE senses) $\mathrm{H}^{1}_2$-valued solution to the 2D stochastic Navier-Stokes equations (SNSEs) driven by a multiplicative Lévy noise under the natural Lipschitz on balls and linear growth assumptions on the jump coefficient. Secondly, we prove a Girsanov-type theorem for Poisson random measures and apply this result to a study of the well-posedness of the corresponding stochastic controlled problem for these SNSEs. Thirdly, we apply these results to …
A deterministic walk in a random environment can be understood as a general random process with finite-range dependence that starts repeating a loop once it reaches a site it has visited before. Such process lacks the Markov property. We study the exponential decay of the probabilities that the walk will reach sites located far away from the origin. We also study a similar problem for the continuous analogue: the process that is a solution to an ODE with random coefficients. In this second model the environment also has "teleports" which are the regions from where the process can make disconti…
In this paper, the large deviations on trajectory level for ergodic Markov processes are studied. These processes take values in the non-negative quadrant of the two dimension lattice and are concentrated on step-wise functions. The rates of jumps towards the axes (jump down) depend on the position of the process -- the higher the position, the greater the rate. The rates of jumps going in the same direction as the axes (jump up) are constants. Therefore the processes are ergodic. The large deviations are studied under equal scalings of both space and time. The scaled versions of the processes…
We consider a family of continuous processes $\{X^\varepsilon\}_{\varepsilon>0}$ which are measurable with respect to a white noise measure, take values in the space of continuous functions $C([0,1]^d:\mathbb{R})$, and have the Wiener chaos expansion \[ X^\varepsilon = \sum_{n=0}^{\infty} \varepsilon^n I_n \big(f_n^{\varepsilon} \big). \] We provide sufficient conditions for the large deviations principle of $\{X^\varepsilon\}_{\varepsilon>0}$ to hold in $C([0,1]^d:\mathbb{R})$, thereby refreshing a problem left open by Pérez-Abreu (1993) in the Brownian motion case. The proof is based on the …
We prove the large deviation principle for the trajectory of a broad class of mean field interacting Markov jump processes via a general analytic approach based on viscosity solutions. Examples include generalized Ehrenfest models as well as Curie-Weiss spin flip dynamics with singular jump rates. The main step in the proof of the large deviation principle, which is of independent interest, is the proof of the comparison principle for an associated collection of Hamilton-Jacobi equations. Additionally, we show that the large deviation principle provides a general method to identify a Lyapunov …
In this paper, we consider McKean-Vlasov stochastic differential equations (MVSDEs) driven by Lévy noise. By identifying the right equations satisfied by the solutions of the MVSDEs with shifted driving Lévy noise, we build up a framework to fully apply the weak convergence method to establish large and moderate deviation principles for MVSDEs. In the case of ordinary SDEs, the rate function is calculated by using the solutions of the corresponding skeleton equations simply replacing the noise by the elements of the Cameron-Martin space. It turns out that the correct rate function for MVSDEs i…
In this paper, we establish a large deviation principle for a fully non-linear stochastic evolution equation driven by both Brownian motions and Poisson random measures on a given Hilbert space $H$. The weak convergence method plays an important role.
We prove a large-deviation principle (LDP) for the sample paths of jump Markov processes in the small noise limit when, possibly, all the jump rates vanish uniformly, but slowly enough, in a region of the state space. We further discuss the optimality of our assumptions on the decay of the jump rates. As a direct application of this work we relax the assumptions needed for the application of LDPs to, e.g., Chemical Reaction Network dynamics, where vanishing reaction rates arise naturally particularly the context of mass action kinetics.
This paper is devoted the the study of the mean field limit for many-particle systems undergoing jump, drift or diffusion processes, as well as combinations of them. The main results are quantitative estimates on the decay of fluctuations around the deterministic limit and of correlations between particles, as the number of particles goes to infinity. To this end we introduce a general functional framework which reduces this question to the one of proving a purely functional estimate on some abstract generator operators (consistency estimate) together with fine stability estimates on the flow …
The paper deals with a family of jump Markov process defined in a medium with a periodic or locally periodic microstructure. We assume that the generator of the process is a zero order convolution type operator with rapidly oscillating locally periodic coefficient and, under natural ellipticity and localization conditions, show that the family satisfies the large deviation principle in the path space equipped with Skorokhod topology. The corresponding rate function is defined in terms of a family of auxiliary periodic spectral problems.
We study McKean-Vlasov equations where the coefficients are locally Lipschitz continuous. We prove the strong well-posedness and a propagation of chaos property in this framework. These questions can be treated with classical arguments under the assumptions that the coefficients are globally Lipschitz continuous. In the locally Lipschitz case, we use truncation arguments and Osgood's lemma instead of Grönwall's lemma. This approach entails technical difficulties in the proofs, in particular for the existence of solution of the McKean-Vlasov equations that are considered. This proof relies on a…
In this article, we establish a propagation of chaos result for weakly interacting nonlinear Snell envelopes which converge to a class of mean-field reflected backward stochastic differential equations (BSDEs) with jumps and right-continuous and left-limited obstacle, where the mean-field interaction in terms of the distribution of the $Y$-component of the solution enters both the driver and the lower obstacle. Under mild Lipschitz and integrability conditions on the coefficients, we prove existence and uniqueness of the solution to both the mean-field reflected BSDEs with jumps and the corres…
We prove moderate deviation principles for the tagged particle position and current in one-dimensional symmetric simple exclusion processes. There is at most one particle per site. A particle jumps to one of its two neighbors at rate $1/2$, and the jump is suppressed if there is already one at the target site. We distinguish one particular particle which is called the tagged particle. We first establish a variational formula for the moderate deviation rate functions of the tagged particle positions based on moderate deviation principles from hydrodynamic limit proved by Gao and Quastel \cite{g…
For a given one-dimensional random walk $\{S_n\}$ with a subexponential step-size distribution, we present a unifying theory to study the sequences $\{x_n\}$ for which $\mathsf{P}\{S_n>x\}\sim n\mathsf{P}\{S_1>x\}$ as $n\to\infty$ uniformly for $x\ge x_n$. We also investigate the stronger "local" analogue, $\mathsf{P}\{S_n\in(x,x+T]\}\sim n\mathsf{P}\{S_1\in(x,x+T]\}$. Our theory is self-contained and fits well within classical results on domains of (partial) attraction and local limit theory. When specialized to the most important subclasses of subexponential distributions that have been stud…
We establish a Sanov type large deviation principle for an ensemble of interacting Brownian rough paths. As application a large deviations for the ($k$-layer, enhanced) empirical measure of weakly interacting diffusions is obtained. This in turn implies a propagation of chaos result in rough path spaces and allows for a robust subsequent analysis of the particle system and its McKean-Vlasov type limit, as shown in two corollaries.
We study large deviation probabilities for a sum of dependent random variables from a heavy-tailed factor model, assuming that the components are regularly varying. We identify conditions where both the factor and the idiosyncratic terms contribute to the behaviour of the tail-probability of the sum. A simple conditional Monte Carlo algorithm is also provided together with a comparison between the simulations and the large deviation approximation. We also study large deviation probabilities for stochastic processes with factor structure. The processes involved are assumed to be Levy processes …
A large deviation principle is established for a two-scale stochastic system in which the slow component is a continuous process given by a small noise finite dimensional Itô stochastic differential equation, and the fast component is a finite state pure jump process. Previous works have considered settings where the coupling between the components is weak in a certain sense. In the current work we study a fully coupled system in which the drift and diffusion coefficient of the slow component and the jump intensity function and jump distribution of the fast process depend on the states of both…
We prove a sample path Large Deviation Principle (LDP) for a class of jump processes whose rates are not uniformly Lipschitz continuous in phase space. Building on it we further establish the corresponding Wentzell-Freidlin (W-F) (infinite time horizon) asymptotic theory. These results apply to jump Markov processes that model the dynamics of chemical reaction networks under mass action kinetics, on a microscopic scale. We provide natural sufficient topological conditions for the applicability of our LDP and W-F results. This then justifies the computation of non-equilibrium potential and expo…
Let $σ_t(x)$ denote the implied volatility at maturity $t$ for a strike $K=S_0 e^{xt}$, where $x\in\bbR$ and $S_0$ is the current value of the underlying. We show that $σ_t(x)$ has a uniform (in $x$) limit as maturity $t$ tends to infinity, given by the formula $σ_\infty(x)=\sqrt{2}(h^*(x)^{1/2}+(h^*(x)-x)^{1/2})$, for $x$ in some compact neighbourhood of zero in the class of affine stochastic volatility models. The function $h^*$ is the convex dual of the limiting cumulant generating function $h$ of the scaled log-spot process. We express $h$ in terms of the functional characteristics of the …
We consider a system of particles which interact through a jump process. The jump intensities are functions of the proximity rank of the particles, a type of interaction referred to as topological in the literature. Such interactions have been shown relevant for the modelling of bird flocks. We show that, in the large number of particles limit and under minimal smoothness assumptions on the data, the model converges to a kinetic equation which was derived in earlier works both formally and rigorously under more stringent regularity assumptions. The proof relies on the coupling method which ass…
