When a TeV-scale leptoquark has a sizeable Yukawa coupling, its dominant production mechanism at hadron colliders is the partonic-level lepton-quark fusion. Even though the parton distribution functions for leptons inside the proton are minuscule, they get compensated by the resonant enhancement. We present the first computation of higher order radiative corrections to the resonant leptoquark production cross section at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Next-to-leading (NLO) QCD and QED corrections are similar in size but come with the opposite sign. We compute NLO $K$-factors for a wide range of scalar leptoquark masses, as well as, all possible combinations of quark and lepton flavors and leptoquark charges. Theoretical uncertainties due to the renormalisation and factorisation scale variations and the limited knowledge of parton distribution functions are quantified. We finally discuss how to disentangle the flavor structure of leptoquark interactions by exploiting the interplay between different production channels.
We propose a new sequential jet reconstruction algorithm for future lepton colliders at the energy frontier. The Valencia algorithm combines the natural distance criterion for lepton colliders with the greater robustness against backgrounds of algorithms adapted to hadron colliders. Results on a detailed Monte Carlo simulation of $t\bar{t}$ and $ZZ$ production at future linear $e^+e^-$ colliders (ILC and CLIC) with a realistic level of background overlaid, show that it achieves better performance in the presence of background.
At the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), several far detectors such as FASER and MATHUSLA have been proposed to target the long-lived particles (LLPs) featured with displaced vertices. Naturally one question arises as to the feasibility of installing similar far detectors at future lepton colliders like the CEPC and FCC-ee. Because of the different kinematics of final state particles and the freedom to locate both the experiment hall and the detectors, the future lepton collider with an additional far detector may play a unique role in searching for LLPs. In this study, we consider various location…
The two-photon exclusive production of lepton pairs at the Electron-Ion Collider will open interesting research directions thanks to a very high luminosity and clean experimental conditions. A survey of the scientific potential of such studies is reported. In particular, we consider unique measurements of the proton elastic electromagnetic form-factors and a possibility of studying the anomalous electromagnetic dipole moments of $τ$ leptons.
New physics scenarios beyond the Standard Model (SM) for neutrino mass mechanism often necessitate the existence of a neutral scalar $H$ and/or doubly-charged scalar $H^{\pm\pm}$, which couple to the SM charged leptons in a flavor violating way, while evading all existing constraints. Such scalars could be effectively produced at future lepton colliders like CEPC, ILC, FCC-ee and CLIC, either on-shell or off-shell, and induce striking charged lepton flavor violating (LFV) signals. We find that a large parameter space of the scalar masses and the LFV couplings can be probed at lepton colliders,…
Lepton Flavor Violating (LFV) processes are clear signals of physics beyond the Standard Model. We investigate the possibility of measuring this kind of processes at present and foreseeable future muon-electron colliders, taking into account present day bounds from existing experiments. As a model of new physics we consider a Z' boson with a $U'(1)$ gauge symmetry and generic couplings. Processes that violate lepton flavor by two units seem to be particularly promising.
Resonant production of leptogluons at the FCC based ep and \mup colliders have been analyzed. It is shown that e-FCC and μ-FCC will cover much wider region of e_{8} and μ_{8} masses than the LHC. While leptogluons with appropriate masses (if exist) will be discovered earlier by the FCC pp collider, lepton-proton colliders will give opportunity to handle very important additional information. For example, compositeness scale can be probed up to multi-hundred TeV region.
I present a case for proposed future linear and circular lepton colliders as ideal machines for understanding and exploration. As machines for understanding, they provide unprecedented tools for studying the Higgs and observing phenomena never before seen in nature. As machines for exploration, they are ideally suited to discovering new particles interacting too weakly to be seen otherwise. These arguments for future lepton colliders are largely independent of the as-yet-unknown outcome of the LHC physics program.
Rare B hadron decays provide an excellent test bench for the Standard Model and can probe new physics models. We review the experimental progress of the searches for rare leptonic B decays ($b\rightarrow \ell^+ \ell^-$ and $b\rightarrow s \ell^+ \ell^-$) at LHC and Tevatron experiments.

The future FCC-ee collider is designed to deliver $\mathrm{e^+e^-}$ collisions to study with ultimate precision the Z, W, and Higgs bosons, and the top quark. In a high-statistics scan around the Z pole, $1.3\times 10^{11}$ events $\mathrm{Z}\toττ$ will be produced, the largest sample of $ττ$ events foreseen at any lepton collider. With their large boost, $τ$ leptons from Z decays are particularly well suited for precision measurements. The focus of this report is on tests of lepton universality from precision measurement of $\boldsymbolτ$ properties and on tests of charged lepton flavour viol…
Many new physics scenarios beyond the Standard Model often necessitate the existence of a (light) neutral scalar $H$, which might couple to the charged leptons in a flavor violating way, while evading all existing constraints. We show that such scalars could be effectively produced at future lepton colliders, either on-shell or off-shell depending on their mass, and induce lepton flavor violating (LFV) signals, i.e. $e^+ e^- \to \ell_α^\pm \ell_β^\mp (+H)$ with $α\neq β$. We find that a large parameter space of the scalar mass and the LFV couplings can be probed, well beyond the current low-en…

Electroweak-interacting massive particles (EWIMPs) exist in a broad class of new physics models beyond the Standard Model. Searching for such particles is one of most primary goal at the LHC and future colliders. The EWIMP generally affects the LHC signatures through quantum corrections even without direct productions. By measuring the Standard Model processes precisely, we can indirectly probe the EWIMPs. In this paper, we study the current constraint and future prospect of the EWIMPs by using the precision measurements of mono-lepton production from the charged Drell-Yan processes at hadron …
We present the first study of the production of a Standard Model Higgs boson at a lepton collider in association with a pair of W bosons, $e^+_{} e^-_{} \to W^+_{} W^-_{} H$, in the inverse seesaw model. Taking into account all relevant experimental and theoretical constraints, we find sizable effects due to the additional heavy neutrinos up to -38% on the total cross-section at a center-of-mass energy of 3 TeV, and even up to -66% with suitable cuts. This motivates a detailed sensitivity analysis of the process $e^+_{} e^-_{} \to W^+_{} W^-_{} H$ as it could provide a new, very competitive ex…
Flavor Democracy Hypothesis favors existence of iso-singlet quarks and vector-like charged leptons. Their observation at future colliders could shed light on the nature of mass and mixing patterns of known leptons and quarks, as well as Higgs boson itself. Vector-like quarks are extensively searched by ATLAS and CMS collaborations. Unfortunately, this is not the case for vector-like leptons, while they have actually similar status from phenomenology viewpoint. We argue that vector-like charged leptons should be included into the new physics search programs of future energy frontier colliders. …
We summarize the potential charged lepton flavor violation (LFV) from neutrino mass relevant models, for instance the seesaw mechanisms. In particular, we study, in a model-dependent way, the LFV signals at the high-energy hadron and lepton colliders originating from the beyond standard model (BSM) neutral scalar $H$, doubly charged scalar $H^{\pm\pm}$, heavy neutrino $N$, heavy $W_R$ boson, and the $Z'$ boson. For the neutral scalar, doubly charged scalar and $Z'$ boson, the LFV signals originate from the (effective) LFV couplings of these particles to the charged leptons, while for the heavy…
The fermionic Z-portal dark matter model suffers from severe constraints from direct detection experiments. However, a narrow parameter space around the Z-funnel region is beyond the reach due to the resonance annihilation. In this paper, we provide an intriguing collider prospect for probing the Z-funnel dark matter mass range at the future lepton colliders including the beam polarization feature. We have done a comprehensive analysis for mono-photon signal at the colliders for such a dark matter. A realistic estimation for the 90% C.L. constraints with the systematic beam uncertainties has a…
We study standard electroweak/Higgs processes at the high-energy lepton colliders ILC and CLIC. We identify a subset of three operators in the SMEFT that give leading contributions to these processes at high energies. We then perform a `high-energy fit' including these operators. Our final bounds surpass existing LEP bounds and HL-LHC projections by orders of magnitude. Furthermore, we find that these colliders can probe scales up to tens of TeV, corresponding to the highest scales explored in electroweak/Higgs physics.
We consider the production of W bosons in hadron collisions, and the subsequent leptonic decay W->lnu_l. We study the asymmetry between the rapidity distributions of the charged leptons, and we present its computation up to the next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) in QCD perturbation theory. Our calculation includes the dependence on the lepton kinematical cuts that are necessarily applied to select W-> lnu_l events in actual experimental analyses at hadron colliders. We illustrate the main differences between the W and lepton charge asymmetry, and we discuss their physical origin and the effe…
We study momentum distributions of the final-state charged lepton in ppbar/pp --> ttbar --> l^+ X (l=e or mu) at hadron colliders, i.e., Tevatron and Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in order to explore possible new-physics effects in the top-quark sector. Assuming general model-independent ttbar g + ttbar gg and tbW interactions beyond the standard model, we first derive analytical formulas for the corresponding parton-parton processes. We then compute the lepton angular, energy and transverse-momentum distributions in ppbar/pp collisions to clarify how they are affected by those anomalous couplin…
The inclusion of heavy neutral leptons (right-handed neutrinos) to the Standard Model (SM) particle content is one of the best motivated ways to account for the observed neutrino masses and flavor mixing. The modification of the charged and neutral currents from active-sterile mixing of the neutral leptons can provide novel signatures which can be tested at the future collider experiments. In this article, we explore the discovery prospect of a very heavy right handed neutrino to probe such extensions at the future collider experiments like Large Hadron electron Collider (LHeC) and liner colli…
A light leptophilic boson (scalar or pseudoscalar) has been postulated to explain the muon g-2 anomaly and could be a portal to dark matter. Realizing the leptophilic nature of a singlet boson in the framework of the two-Higgs-doublet-Model of type-X, we identify the parameter space viable for the explanation of the updated muon g-2 discrepancy. It is then shown that such a hypothetical particle will be unambiguously ruled out or discovered via the Yukawa process at a lepton collider designed as a Higgs factory.
We propose a novel idea for probing the Higgs boson couplings through the measurement of hadronic event shape distributions in the decay of the Higgs boson at lepton colliders. The method provides a unique test of the Higgs boson couplings and of QCD effects in the decay of the Higgs boson. It can be used to probe the Yukawa couplings of the light quarks and to further test the mechanism of electroweak symmetry breaking. From a case study for the proposed Circular Electron-Positron Collider, assuming a hypothesis of SM-like theory, light-quark couplings with a strength greater than 9% of the b…
New physics close to the electroweak scale is well motivated by a number of theoretical arguments. However, colliders, most notably the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), have failed to deliver evidence for physics beyond the Standard Model. One possibility for how new electroweak-scale particles could have evaded detection so far is if they carry only electroweak charge, i.e. are color neutral. Future $e^+e^-$ colliders are prime tools to study such new physics. Here, we investigate the sensitivity of $e^+e^-$ colliders to scalar partners of the charged leptons, known as sleptons in supersymmetric …
The Super-Kamiokande atmospheric neutrino data suggest existence of the large lepton-flavor violating (LFV) interaction in the higher energy scale. If the minimal supersymmetric standard model is extended to have right-handed neutrinos, the left-handed sleptons in the second and third generations are expected to have the LFV masses in the minimal supergravity scenario. In this article we study the LFV signals in the left-handed slepton production at $μ^+μ^-$ colliders and $\e^+\e^-$ linear colliders (LC's), $μ^+μ^-(\e^+\e^-)\toτμ+4jets + \E$ and $μ^+μ^-(\e^+\e^-)\toτμl+ 2jets+ \E$. The main ba…
In composite Higgs (CH) models, large mixings between the top quark and the new strongly interacting sector are required to generate its sizeable Yukawa coupling. Precise measurements involving top as well as left-handed bottom quarks therefore offer an interesting opportunity to probe such new physics scenarios. We study the impact of third-generation-quark pair production at future lepton colliders, translating prospective effective-field-theory sensitivities into the CH parameter space. Our results show that one can probe a significant fraction of the natural CH parameter space through the …
A weak singlet charged scalar exists in many new physics models beyond the Standard Model. The discovery potential of the singlet charged scalar is explored at future lepton colliders, e.g. the CEPC, ILC-350 and ILC-500. We demonstrate that one can discover the singlet charged scalar up to 118 GeV at the CEPC with an integrated luminosity of $5~\mathrm{ab}^{-1}$. At the ILC-350 and the ILC-500 with an integrated luminosity of $1~\mathrm{ab}^{-1}$ such a discovery limit can be further improved to 136 GeV and 160 GeV, respectively.
First of all, an importance of the LHC and FCC based energy frontier lepton-hadron and photon-hadron colliders is emphasised. Then arguments favoring existence of new heavy isosinglet down-type quarks and vector-like isosinglet or isodoublet leptons are presented, following by historical arguments favoring new (preonic) level of matter. The importance of Super-Charm factory and GeV energy proton linac for Turkey national road map is argued. Finally, several recommendations for ESPP2020 are suggested.
We study the decay of the $Z$ vector boson into a photon and a massless (invisible) dark photon in high-energy collisions. The photon can be used as trigger for the event, while the dark photon is detected indirectly as missing momentum in the event final state. We investigate the possibility of searching for such a dark photon at the LHC, HL-LHC and future lepton colliders, and compare the respective sensitivities. As expected, the best result is found for the lepton colliders running at the $Z$ mass, FCC-ee and CEPC, with a final sensitivity to branching ratios of order $O(10^{-11})$. We als…
We illustrate the potential of a very high energy lepton collider (from 10 to 30 TeV center of mass energy) to explore new physics indirectly in the vector boson fusion double Higgs production process and in direct diboson production at high energy. Double Higgs production is found to be sensitive to the anomalous Higgs trilinear coupling at the percent level, and to the Higgs compositeness $ξ$ parameter at the per mille or sub-per mille level thanks to the measurement of the cross-section in the di-Higgs high invariant mass tail. High energy diboson (and tri-boson) production is sensitive to …
Various types of electroweak-interacting particles, which have non-trivial charges under the $\mathrm{SU}(2)_L \times \mathrm{U}(1)_Y$ gauge symmetry, appear in various extensions of the Standard Model. These particles are good targets of future lepton colliders, such as the International Linear Collider (ILC), the Compact LInear Collider (CLIC) and the Future Circular Collider of electrons and positrons (FCC-ee). An advantage of the experiments is that, even if their beam energies are below the threshold of the production of the new particles, quantum effects of the particles can be detected …
For the first time, the production of a massive dark photon (DP) in the $γe^-$ scattering at the future lepton colliders ILC, CLIC, and CEPC is examined. The invisible decay mode of the DP is addressed. We have studied both the unpolarized scattering and the collision of the Compton backscattered photons with the polarized electron. The missing energy distributions are shown. We have considered the wide range 10 GeV -- 1000 GeV of the DP mass $m_{A'}$. The excluded regions at the 95\% C.L. in the plane $(\varepsilon, m_{A'})$, where $\varepsilon$ is the kinetic mixing parameter, are obtained.
The investigation of lepton-hadron and photon-hadron collisions at TeV scale is crucial both to clarify the strong interaction dynamics from nuclei to quark-parton level and for adequate interpretation of experimental data from future hadron colliders (LHC and VLHC). In this presentation different TeV scale lepton-hadron and photon-hadron collider proposals (such as THERA, LEP-LHC, QCD Explorer etc) are discussed. The advantages of linac-ring type colliders has been shown comparatively.
We propose a method to probe the coupling of the Higgs to strange quarks by tagging strange jets at future lepton colliders. For this purpose we describe a jet-flavor observable, $J_F$, that is correlated with the flavor of the quark associated with the hard part of the jet. Using this variable, we set up a strangeness tagger aimed at studying the decay $h\to s\bar{s}$. We determine the sensitivity of our method to the strange Yukawa coupling, and find it to be of the order of the standard-model expectation.
After the discovery of the Higgs boson, several future experiments have been proposed to study the Higgs boson properties, including two circular lepton colliders, the CEPC and the FCC-ee, and one linear lepton collider, the ILC. We evaluate the precision reach of these colliders in measuring the branching ratios of the charged lepton flavor violating Higgs decays $H\to e^\pmμ^\mp$, $e^\pmτ^\mp$ and $μ^\pmτ^\mp$. The expected upper bounds on the branching ratios given by the circular (linear) colliders are found to be $\mathcal{B}(H\to e^\pmμ^\mp) < 1.2\ (2.1) \times 10^{-5}$, $\mathcal{B}(H\t…
We present a feasibility study of top-quark mass measurement using the energy distribution of a lepton from a W boson in a top quark decay in pp collisions at the LHC. The proposed method requires only the lepton energy distribution at the parton level. The analysis is performed in the lepton + jets final state by using fast simulation data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of approximately 20 fb-1 at 14 TeV. Events with exactly one lepton, at least 3 jets and at least 1 b jet are selected. The lepton energy distribution at the parton level is obtained by applying the bin-by-bin unfold…
We study the effects of the initial state radiation on the $s$-channel Higgs boson resonant production at $μ^+μ^-$ and $e^+e^-$ colliders by convoluting with the beam energy spread profile of the collider and the Breit-Wigner resonance profile of the signal. We assess their impact on both the Higgs signal and SM backgrounds for the leading decay channels $h\rightarrow b\bar b,\ WW^*$. Our study improves the existing analyses of the proposed future resonant Higgs factories and provides further guidance for the accelerator designs with respect to the physical goals.
We point out that same-sign multilepton events, not given due attention yet for new physics search, can be extremely useful at the Large Hadron Collider. After showing the easy reducibility of the standard model backgrounds, we demonstrate the viability of same-sign trilepton signals for R-parity breaking supersymmetry, at both 7 and 14 TeV. We find that same-sign four-leptons, too, can have appreciable rates. Same-sign trileptons are also expected, for example, in Little Higgs theories with T-parity broken by anomaly terms.
We investigate the prospects for detection of lepton flavour violation in sparticle production and decays at a Linear Collider (LC), in models guided by neutrino oscillation data. We consider both slepton pair production and sleptons arising from the cascade decays of non-leptonic sparticles. We study the expected signals when lepton-flavour-violating (LFV) interactions are induced by renormalization effects in the Constrained Minimal Supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (CMSSM), focusing on the subset of the supersymmetric parameter space that also leads to cosmologically interestin…
We examine the constraints that future lepton colliders would impose on the effective field theory describing modifications of top-quark interactions beyond the standard model, through measurements of the $e^+e^-\to bW^+\:\bar bW^-$ process. Statistically optimal observables are exploited to constrain simultaneously and efficiently all relevant operators. Their constraining power is sufficient for quadratic effective-field-theory contributions to have negligible impact on limits which are therefore basis independent. This is contrasted with the measurements of cross sections and forward-backwa…
In this study, main parameters of Super proton-proton Collider (SppC) based lepton-proton colliders are estimated. For electron beam parameters, highest energy International Linear Collider (ILC) and Plasma Wake Field Accelerator-Linear Collider (PWFA-LC) options are taken into account. For muon beams, 1.5 TeV and 3 TeV center of mass energy Muon Collider parameters are used. In addition, ultimate $μ$p collider which assumes construction of additional 50 TeV muon ring in the SppC tunnel is considered as well. It is shown that $L_{ep}$ $\sim$ $10^{32}$ $cm^{-2}s^{-1}$ can be achieved with moder…
Lepton flavor violation at linear collider experiments is discussed. We show that detectable lepton flavor violation could occur through scalar lepton pair production and decay in the supersymmetric SU(5) grand unified theory in spite of the stringent present experimental constraints by rare process searches. Possible cross sections about 40fb for an e+e- collider and 280fb for an e-e- collider are illustrated.
We consider possible production of heavy leptons via anomalous interactions at future $ep$ colliders (THERA and LHeC), $e^+e^-$ colliders (ILC and CLIC) and $pp$ collider CERN LHC. The production, backgrounds and signatures of heavy leptons are analyzed. We obtain the upper mass limits of 800 GeV at LHeC, 450 GeV at ILC and 650 GeV at LHC for optimal choices of relevant parameters.
A spin-1 weakly interacting vector boson, Z', is predicted by many new physics theories. Searches at colliders for such a Z' resonance typically focus on lepton-antilepton or top-antitop events. Here we present a novel channel with a Z' resonance that decays to 4 leptons, but not to 2 leptons, and discuss its possible discovery at the Large Hadron Collider. This baryonic gauge boson is well motivated in a supersymmetry framework.
We investigate simplified models involving an inert scalar triplet and vector-like leptons that can account for the muon $g-2$ anomaly. These simplified scenarios are embedded in a model that features W' and Z' bosons, which are subject to stringent collider bounds. The constraints coming from the muon $g-2$ anomaly are put into perspective with collider bounds, as well as bounds coming from lepton flavor violation searches. The region of parameter space that explains the $g-2$ anomaly is shown to be within reach of lepton flavor violation probes and future colliders such as HL-LHC and HE-LHC.
We investigate the potentials of high energy lepton-proton colliders to detect a flavor changing $l-l^{\prime}-Z$ or $l-l^{\prime}-γ$ couplings from the processes $ep\toμ(τ)X$ and $μp\to τX$. For the $l-l^{\prime}-Z$ coupling we consider string inspired $E_6$ model whereas $l-l^{\prime}-γ$ coupling is analyzed in the framework of anomalous magnetic moment type interaction (AMMI) model.
New facilities for particle and nuclear physics research, which will be available due to constructing the TESLA linear electron-positron collider tangentially to the HERA proton ring, are discussed.
Options for future $lepton-proton,lepton-nucleus,γ-proton,γ-nucleus$ and FEL$γ-nucleus$ colliders are discussed. In the spirit of this content, we consider TESLAxHERA, LEPxLHC, $μ$xTEVATRON, exRHIC, LinacxLHC, $\sqrt{s}=3TeV$ $μp$ and CLIC based colliders.
We study how to unravel the dark matter blind spots by phase transition gravitational waves in synergy with collider signatures at electroweak one-loop level taking the inert doublet model as an example. We perform a detailed Monte Carlo study at the future lepton colliders in the favored parameter space, which is consistent with current dark matter experiments and collider constraints. Our studies demonstrate that the Circular Electron Positron Collider and other future lepton colliders have the potential to explore the dark matter blind spots.
