We study how to unravel the dark matter blind spots by phase transition gravitational waves in synergy with collider signatures at electroweak one-loop level taking the inert doublet model as an example. We perform a detailed Monte Carlo study at the future lepton colliders in the favored parameter space, which is consistent with current dark matter experiments and collider constraints. Our studies demonstrate that the Circular Electron Positron Collider and other future lepton colliders have the potential to explore the dark matter blind spots.
The dark matter (DM) blind spots in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) refer to the parameter regions where the couplings of the DM particles to the $Z$-boson or the Higgs boson are almost zero, leading to vanishingly small signals for the DM direct detections. In this paper, we carry out comprehensive analyses for the DM searches under the blind-spot scenarios in MSSM. Guided by the requirement of acceptable DM relic abundance, we explore the complementary coverage for the theory parameters at the LHC, the projection for the future underground DM direct searches, and the indirec…
We consider a framework where the Standard Model is augmented by a second SU(2) scalar doublet and by a real scalar singlet that, protected by a Z2 symmetry, provides a particle Dark Matter candidate. We show that this setup allows for doubly blind spots at both collider searches for anomalies in the Higgs invisible decay width, and at direct Dark Matter detection. The blind spots originate from cancellations between interfering diagrams featuring different neutral scalar exchanges, and from cancellations driven by the two-Higgs doublet structure in the vertex coupling the singlet state with t…
Spin-independent cross-section for neutralino dark matter scattering off nuclei is investigated in the NMSSM. Several classes of blind spots for direct detection of singlino-Higgsino dark matter are analytically identified, including such that have no analog in the MSSM. It is shown that mixing of the Higgs doublets with the scalar singlet has a big impact on the position of blind spots in the parameter space. In particular, this mixing allows for more freedom in the sign assignment for the parameters entering the neutralino mass matrix, required for a blind spot to occur, as compared to the M…
A substantial contribution to the SM-like Higgs mass may come from the mixing with the lightest singlet-dominated scalar in NMSSM for moderate or large values of $\tanβ$ [1]. The LSP neutralino in this model may also contain the singlet component - singlino. In this work we analyze the direct detection cross section for a Higgsino-singlino LSP with the emphasis on possible direct detection blind spots in the parameter space. Correlations between the LSP properties and the effects in the Higgs sector coming from the mixing are also discussed.
We study the spin-independent neutralino Dark Matter scattering off heavy nuclei in the MSSM. We identify analytically the blind spots in direct detection for intermediate values of $m_A$. In the region where $μ$ and $M_{1,2}$ have opposite signs, there is not only a reduction of the lightest CP-even Higgs coupling to neutralinos, but also a destructive interference between the neutralino scattering through the exchange of the lightest CP-even Higgs and that through the exchange of the heaviest CP-even Higgs. At critical values of $m_A$, the tree-level contribution from the light Higgs exchang…
Motivated by the absence of dark matter signals in direct detection experiments and the discovery of gravitational waves (GWs) at aLIGO, we discuss the possibility to explore a generic classes of scalar dark matter models using the complementary searches via phase transition gravitational waves and the future lepton collider signatures. We focus on the inert scalar multiplet dark matter models and the mixed inert scalar dark matter models, which could undergo a strong first-order phase transitions during the evolution of the early universe, and might produce detectable phase transition GW sign…

In this paper we study the presence of generalized blind spots, i.e. regions of the parameter space where the spin-independent cross section for dark matter direct detection is suppressed, in the context of a generic 2HDM and a minimal fermionic Higgs-portal dark sector. To this end, we derive analytical expressions for the couplings of the dark matter to the light and heavy Higgses, and thus for the blind spot solutions. Unlike the case of a standard Higgs sector, blind spots can occur even without a cancellation between different contributions, while keeping unsuppressed and efficient the an…
We evaluate the impact of one-loop electroweak corrections to the spin-independent dark matter (DM) scattering cross-section with nucleons ($σ_{\rm SI}$), in models with a so-called blind spot for direct detection, where the leading-order prediction for the relevant DM coupling to the Higgs boson, and therefore $σ_{\rm SI}$, are vanishingly small. Adopting a simple illustrative scenario in which the DM state results from the mixing of electroweak singlet and doublet fermions, we compute the relevant higher order corrections to the scalar effective operator contributions to $σ_{\rm SI}$, stemmi…
The LUX experiment has recently set very strong constraints on spin-independent interactions of WIMP with nuclei. These null results can be accommodated in NMSSM provided that the effective spin-independent coupling of the LSP to nucleons is suppressed. We investigate thermal relic abundance of singlino-higgsino LSP in these so-called spin-independent blind spots and derive current constraints and prospects for direct detection of spin-dependent interactions of the LSP with nuclei providing strong constraints on parameter space. We show that if the Higgs boson is the only light scalar the new …
Conditions for strong first-order phase transition and generation of observable gravitational wave (GW) signals are very restrictive to the profile of the Higgs potential. Working in the minimal extension of the SM with a new gauge singlet real scalar, we show that the production of signals relevant for future GW experiments, such as LISA, can favor depleted resonant and non-resonant di-Higgs rates at colliders for phenomenologically relevant regimes of scalar mixing angles and masses for the heavy scalar. We perform a comprehensive study on the emergence of these di-Higgs blind spot configura…
Spectra for the emission of charged leptons from evaporating hot-spots of preconfining phase in SU(2) Yang-Mills thermodynamics are computed. Specifically, we consider charged single and dileptons with their spectra being functions of energy and invariant mass, respectively. In the former case, our results relate to narrow and correlated electron and positron peaks measured in supercritical heavy-ion collisions performed at GSI in the 1980ies. In the latter case, we point out how strongly the spectra depend on typical kinematic cuts (CDF analysis of Tevatron Run II data). We also propose a sce…
Using a simplified model framework, we assess observational limits and discovery prospects for neutralino dark matter, taken here to be a general admixture of bino, wino, and Higgsino. Experimental constraints can be weakened or even nullified in regions of parameter space near 1) purity limits, where the dark matter is mostly bino, wino, or Higgsino, or 2) blind spots, where the relevant couplings of dark matter to the $Z$ or Higgs bosons vanish identically. We analytically identify all blind spots relevant to spin-independent and spin-dependent scattering and show that they arise for diverse…
Pseudo-Goldstone dark matter is a thermal relic with momentum-suppressed direct-detection cross section. We study the most general model of pseudo-Goldstone dark matter arising from the complex-singlet extension of the Standard Model. The new U(1) symmetry of the model is explicitly broken down to a CP-like symmetry stabilising dark matter. We study the interplay of direct-detection constraints with the strength of cosmic phase transitions and possible gravitational-wave signals. While large U(1)-breaking interactions can generate a large direct-detection cross section, there are blind spots w…
Using the existing simplified model framework, we build several dark matter models which have suppressed spin-independent scattering cross section. We show that the scattering cross section can vanish due to interference effects with models obtained by simple combinations of simplified models. For weakly interacting massive particle (WIMP) masses $\gtrsim$10 GeV, collider limits are usually much weaker than the direct detection limits coming from LUX or XENON100. However, for our model combinations, LHC analyses are more competitive for some parts of the parameter space. The regions with direc…
We describe a region of the No-Scale F-SU(5) supersymmetric model with TeV-scale vector-like matter multiplets that is potentially opaque to LHC observations based upon top quark reconstruction. Possessing a 100% on-shell branching fraction for gluino to light stop decays, the gluino-light stop mass splitting in F-SU(5) lies very close to the top quark rest mass in the region 810 (650) <~ M(gluino) (M(light stop)) <~ 1170 (975) GeV. For unboosted gluino pair-production, this could render two soft top quarks in the dominant 4-top signature, greatly reducing the likelihood for discrimination fro…
A cosmological observable measured in a range of redshifts can be used as a probe of a set of cosmological parameters. Given the cosmological observable and the cosmological parameter, there is an optimum range of redshifts where the observable can constrain the parameter in the most effective manner. For other redshift ranges the observable values may be degenerate with respect to the cosmological parameter values and thus inefficient in constraining the given parameter. These are blind redshift ranges. We determine the optimum and the blind redshift ranges of cosmological observables with re…
In the framework of the MSSM, we examine several simplified models where only a few superpartners are light. This allows us to study WIMP--nucleus scattering in terms of a handful of MSSM parameters and thereby scrutinize their impact on dark matter direct-detection experiments. Focusing on spin-independent WIMP--nucleon scattering, we derive simplified, analytic expressions for the Wilson coefficients associated with Higgs and squark exchange. We utilize these results to study the complementarity of constraints due to direct-detection, flavor, and collider experiments. We also identify parame…
