We study the resonances of the Laplacian acting on the compactly supported sections of a homogeneous vector bundle over a Riemannian symmetric space of the non-compact type. The symmetric space is assumed to have rank-one but the irreducible representation $τ$ of $K$ defining the vector bundle is arbitrary. We determine the resonances. Under the additional assumption that $τ$ occurs in the spherical principal series, we determine the resonance representations. They are all irreducible. We find their Langlands parameters, their wave front sets and determine which of them are unitarizable.
The notion of Gelfand pair (G, K) can be generalized if we consider homogeneous vector bundles over G/K instead of the homogeneous space G/K and matrix-valued functions instead of scalar-valued functions. This gives the definition of commutative homogeneous vector bundles. Being a Gelfand pair is a necessary condition of being a commutative homogeneous vector bundle. For the case in which G/K is a nilmanifold having square-integrable representations, in a previous article we determined a big family of commutative homogeneous vector bundles. In this paper, we complete that classification.
Let D be a bounded symmetric domain of tube type . We show that the image of the Poisson transform on the degenerate principal series representation attached to the Shilov boundary of D is characterized by a covariant differential operator on a homogeneous line bundle on D.
In his famous paper [2], Demazure introduced certain indecomposable modules and used them to give a short proof of Bott's theorem. In this paper we consider a generalization of these modules and give their cohomology.
Let $G$ be a locally semisimple ind-group, $P$ be a parabolic subgroup, and $E$ be a finite-dimensional $P$-module. We show that, under a certain condition on $E$, the nonzero cohomologies of the homogeneous vector bundle $\mathcal{O}_{G/P}(E^*)$ on $G/P$ induced by the dual $P$-module $E^*$ decompose as direct sums of cohomologies of bundles of the form $\mathcal{O}_{G/P}(R)$ for (some) simple constituents $R$ of $E^*$. In the finite-dimensional case, this result is a consequence of the Bott-Borel-Weil theorem and Weyl's semisimplicity theorem. In the infinite-dimensional setting we consider,…
In this paper we characterize minimal free resolutions of homogeneous bundles on P^2. Besides we study stability and simplicity of homogeneous bundles on P^2 by means of their minimal free resolutions; in particular we give a criterion to see when a homogeneous bundle is simple by means of its minimal free resolution in the case the first bundle of the resolution is irreducible.
The description of the Paley-Wiener space for compactly supported smooth functions $C^\infty_c(G)$ on a semi-simple Lie group $G$ involves certain intertwining conditions that are difficult to handle. In the present paper, we make them completely explicit for $G=\mathbf{SL}(2,\mathbb{R})^d$ ($d\in \mathbb{N}$) and $G=\mathbf{SL}(2,\mathbb{C})$. Our results are based on a defining criterion for the Paley-Wiener space, valid for general groups of real rank one, that we derive from Delorme's proof of the Paley-Wiener theorem. In a forthcoming paper, we will show how these results can be used to s…
Let $G$ be a semisimple algebraic group and $B$ a Borel subgroup. We consider generalisations of Lusztig's q-analogues of weight multiplicity, where the set of positive roots is replaced with the multiset of weights of a $B$-submodule of an arbitrary finite-dimensional $G$-module.
We study the stability of some homogeneous bundles on P^3 by using their representations of the quiver associated to the homgeneous bundles on P^3. In particular we show that homogeneous bundles on P^3 whose support of the quiver representation is a parallelepiped are stable, for instance the bundles E whose minimal free resolution is of the kind 0 --> S^{l_1, l_2, l_3} V (t) --> S^{l_1 +s, l_2, l_3} V (t+s) --> E --> 0 are stable.
Let $A$ be an abelian variety over a field. The homogeneous (or translation-invariant) vector bundles over $A$ form an abelian category ${\rm HVec}_A$; the Fourier-Mukai transform yields an equivalence of ${\rm HVec}_A$ with the category of coherent sheaves with finite support on the dual abelian variety. In this paper, we develop an alternative approach to homogeneous vector bundles, based on the equivalence of ${\rm HVec}_A$ with the category of finite-dimensional representations of a commutative affine group scheme (the "affine fundamental group" of $A$). This displays remarkable analogies …
Given a rational homogeneous variety G/P where G is complex simple and of type ADE, we prove that all tangent bundles T_{G/P} are simple, meaning that their only endomorphisms are scalar multiples of the identity. This result combined with Hitchin-Kobayashi correspondence implies stability of these tangent bundles with respect to the anticanonical polarization. Our main tool is the equivalence of categories between homogeneous vector bundles on G/P and finite dimensional representations of a given quiver with relations.
It is known that all the vector bundles of the title can be obtained by holomorphic induction from representations of a certain parabolic Lie algebra on finite dimensional inner product spaces. The representations, and the induced bundles, have composition series with irreducible factors. Our first main result is the construction of an explicit differential operator intertwining the bundle with the direct sum of its factors. Next, we study Hilbert spaces of sections of these bundles. We use this to get, in particular, a full description and a similarity theorem for homogeneous $n$-tuples of op…
A symbolic calculus for a pseudo-differential operators acting on sections of a homogeneous vector bundle over a compact homogeneous space $G/H$ with compact $G$ and $H$ is developed. We realize the symbol of a pseudo-differential operator as a linear operator acting on corresponding irreducible unitary representations of $H$ valued in the algebra $C^\infty(G)$ of smooth functions. We write down how left invariant vector fields of $SU(2)$ act on the sections of homogeneous vector bundles associated to the fibration $\mathbb{T}\hookrightarrow SU(2)\rightarrow\mathbb{C}P^1$, which is known as th…
The quantum general linear supergroup GLq(m|n) is defined and its structure is studied systematically. Quantum homogeneous supervector bundles are introduced following Connes' theory, and applied to develop the representation theory of GLq(m|n). Quantum Frobenius reciprocity is proven, and a Borel - Weil theorem is established for the irreducible covariant and contravariant tensor representations.
It is known that all the vector bundles of the title can be obtained by holomorphic induction from representations of a certain parabolic group on finite dimensional inner product spaces. The representations, and the induced bundles, have composition series with irreducible factors. We give a condition under which the bundle and the direct sum of its irreducible constituents are intertwined by an equivariant constant coefficient differential operator. We show that in the case of the unit ball in $\mathbb C^2$ this condition is always satisfied. As an application we show that all homogeneous pa…
We describe the cohomology groups of a homogeneous vector bundle $E$ on any Hermitian symmetric variety $X=G/P$ of ADE type as the cohomology of a complex explicitly described. The main tool is the equivalence between the category of homogeneous bundles and the category of representations of a certain quiver ${\cal Q}_X$ with relations, whose vertices are the dominant weights of the reductive part of $P$. This equivalence was found in some cases by Bondal, Kapranov and Hille and we find the appropriate relations for any Hermitian symmetric variety, computing them explicitly for Grassmannians.
We consider a uniform $r$-bundle $E$ on a complex rational homogeneous space $X$ %over complex number field $\mathbb{C}$ and show that if $E$ is poly-uniform with respect to all the special families of lines and the rank $r$ is less than or equal to some number that depends only on $X$, then $E$ is either a direct sum of line bundles or $δ_i$-unstable for some $δ_i$. So we partially answer a problem posted by Muñoz-Occhetta-Solá Conde. In particular, if $X$ is a generalized Grassmannian $\mathcal{G}$ and the rank $r$ is less than or equal to some number that depends only on $X$, then $E$ split…
Let \(X=G/K\) be a noncompact complex Grassmann manifold of rank \(r\). Let \(τ_l\) be a character of \(K\), \(G\times_P{\C}\) and \(G\times_K{\C}\) the homogeneous line bundles associated with the representations \(σ_{λ,l}=τ_l\otimes a^{ρ-iλ}\otimes 1\) of \(P=MAN\) and \(τ_l\) of \(K\). We give an image characterization for the Poisson transform \(P_{λ,l}\) of \\\(L^2\)-sections of the unitary principal series representations of \(G\) parametrized by \(σ_{λ,l}\). More precisely for real and regular parameter \(λ\) in \(\mathfrak{a}^\ast\) we prove that \(P_{λ,l}\) is an isomorphism from \(L^…
Let $G$ be the identity component of the isometry group for an arbitrary curved two-point homogeneous space $M$. We consider algebras of $G$-invariant differential operators on bundles of unit spheres over $M$. The generators of this algebra and the corresponding relations for them are found. The connection of these generators with two-body problem on two-point homogeneous spaces is discussed.
For the exterior algebra E over a vector space, we consider general maps E^a -> E(1)^b and general symmetric and skew-symmetric maps E^a -> E(1)^a and describe the associated exterior algebra resolutions. Using the theory of homogeneous bundles on homogeneous varieties we also describe the exterior algebra resolutions of much wider classes of maps E^a -> E(r)^b.
We give a complete characterization of invariant integrable complex structures on principal bundles defined over hermitian symmetric spaces, using the Jordan algebraic approach for the curvature computations. In view of possible generalizations, the general setup of invariant holomorphic principal fibre bundles is described in a systematic way.
We study the Fourier transform for compactly supported distributional sections of complex homogeneous vector bundles on symmetric spaces of non-compact type $X = G/K$. We prove a characterisation of their range. In fact, from Delorme's Paley-Wiener theorem for compactly supported smooth functions on a real reductive group of Harish-Chandra class, we deduce topological Paley-Wiener and Paley-Wiener-Schwartz theorems for sections.
We prove that for an irreducible representation $τ:GL(n)\to GL(W)$, the associated homogeneous ${\bf P}_k^n$-vector bundle $W_τ$ is strongly semistable when restricted to any smooth quadric or to any smooth cubic in ${\bf P}_k^n$, where $k$ is an algebraically closed field of characteristic $\neq 2,3$ respectively. In particular $W_τ$ is semistable when restricted to general hypersurfaces of degree $\geq 2$ and is strongly semistable when restricted to the $k$-generic hypersurface of degree $\geq 2$.
$G$-equivariant convolutional neural networks (GCNNs) is a geometric deep learning model for data defined on a homogeneous $G$-space $\mathcal{M}$. GCNNs are designed to respect the global symmetry in $\mathcal{M}$, thereby facilitating learning. In this paper, we analyze GCNNs on homogeneous spaces $\mathcal{M} = G/K$ in the case of unimodular Lie groups $G$ and compact subgroups $K \leq G$. We demonstrate that homogeneous vector bundles is the natural setting for GCNNs. We also use reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces to obtain a precise criterion for expressing $G$-equivariant layers as convol…
Given a Lie group $G$, a compact subgroup $K$ and a representation $τ\in\hat K$, we assume that the algebra of $\text{End}(V_τ)$-valued, bi-$τ$-equivariant, integrable functions on $G$ is commutative. We present the basic facts of the related spherical analysis, putting particular emphasis on the rôle of the algebra of $G$-invariant differential operators on the homogeneous bundle $E_τ$ over $G/K$. In particular, we observe that, under the above assumptions, $(G,K)$ is a Gelfand pair and show that the Gelfand spectrum for the triple $(G,K,τ)$ admits homeomorphic embeddings in $\mathbb C^n$. In…
Let X=G/B be a complete flag variety, and L' and L" two line bundles on X. Consider the cup product map H^{d'}(X,L') x H^{d"}(X, L") --> H^{d}(X,L), where L=L' x L" and d=d'+d". We answer two natural questions about the map above: When is it a nonzero map of irreducible G-representations? Conversely, given generic irreducible representations V' and V" of G, which irreducible components of V' x V" may appear in the right hand side of the map above? We also give bounds on the multiplicities appearing in a tensor product, and relate these considerations to the boundary of the Littlewood-Richardso…
We complete our recent classification of compact inner symmetric spaces with weakly complex tangent bundle by filling up a case which was left open, and extend this classification to the larger category of compact homogeneous spaces with positive Euler characteristic. We show that a simply connected compact equal rank homogeneous space has weakly complex tangent bundle if and only if it is a product of compact equal rank homogeneous spaces which either carry an invariant almost complex structure (and are classified by Hermann), or have stably trivial tangent bundle (and are classified by Singh…
Let P be a parabolic subgroup of a semisimple complex Lie group G defined by a subset Σof simple roots of G, and let E_ϕbe a homogeneous vector bundle over the flag manifold G/P corresponding to a linear representation ϕof P. Using Bott's theorem, we obtain sufficient conditions on ϕin terms of the combinatorial structure of Σfor some cohomology groups of the sheaf of holomorphic sections of E_ϕto be zero. In particular, we define two numbers d(P), l(P) such that for any ϕobtained by natural operations from a representation of dimension less than d(P) the q-th cohomology group of E_ϕis zero fo…
We study the geometry of equivariant, proper maps from homogeneous bundles $G\times_P V$ over flag varieties $G/P$ to representations of $G$, called collapsing maps. Kempf showed that, provided the bundle is completely reducible, the image $G\cdot V$ of a collapsing map has rational singularities in characteristic zero. We extend this result to positive characteristic and show that for the analogous bundles the saturation $G\cdot V$ is strongly $F$-regular if its coordinate ring has a good filtration. We further show that in this case the images of collapsing maps of homogeneous bundles restri…
Quantum homogeneous supervector bundles arising from the quantum general linear supergoup are studied. The space of holomorphic sections is promoted to a left exact covariant functor from a category of modules over a quantum parabolic sub-supergroup to the category of locally finite modules of the quantum general linear supergroup. The right derived functors of this functor provides a form of Dolbeault cohomology for quantum homogeneous supervector bundles. We explicitly compute the cohomology groups, which are given in terms of well understood modules over the quantized universal enveloping a…
