Let $G$ be a finite group. The intersection graph of $G$ is a graph whose vertex set is the set of all proper non-trivial subgroups of $G$ and two distinct vertices $H$ and $K$ are adjacent if and only if $H\cap K \neq \{e\}$, where $e$ is the identity of the group $G$. In this paper, we investigate some properties and exploring some topological indices such as Wiener, Hyper-Wiener, first and second Zagreb, Schultz, Gutman and eccentric connectivity indices of the intersection graph of $D_{2n}$ for $n=p^2$, $p$ is prime. We also find the metric dimension and the resolving polynomial of the intersection graph of $D_{2p^2}$.
In this paper,we construct some directed strongly regular Cayley graphs on dihedral groups, these generalizes some earlier constructions. We also characterize some certain directed strongly regular Cayley graphs on dihedral groups $D_{p^α}$,where $p$ is a prime and $α\geqslant 1$ is a positive integer.
In this paper, we characterize some certain directed strongly regular Cayley graphs on Dihedral groups $D_{n}$, where $n\geqslant 3$ is a positive integer.
A regular cover of a connected graph is called {\em cyclic} or {\em dihedral} if its transformation group is cyclic or dihedral respectively, and {\em arc-transitive} (or {\em symmetric}) if the fibre-preserving automorphism subgroup acts arc-transitively on the regular cover. In this paper, we give a classification of arc-transitive cyclic and dihedral covers of a connected pentavalent symmetric graph of order twice a prime. All those covers are explicitly constructed as Cayley graphs on some groups, and their full automorphism groups are determined.
For a group $G$ and a subset $X$ of $G$, the commuting graph of $X$, denoted by $Γ(G,X)$ is the graph whose vertex set is $X$ and any two vertices $u$ and $v$ in $X$ are adjacent if and only if they commute in $G$. In this article, certain properties of the commuting graph of generalized dihedral groups have been studied.
We consider the degree-diameter problem for Cayley graphs of dihedral groups. We find upper and lower bounds on the maximum number of vertices of such a graph with diameter 2 and degree $d$. We completely determine the asymptotic behaviour of this class of graphs by showing that both limits are asymptotically $d^2/2$.
Let $Γ$ be a simple undirected graph on a finite vertex set and let $A$ be its adjacency matrix. Then $Γ$ is {\it singular} if $A$ is singular. The problem of characterising singular graphs is easy to state but very difficult to resolve in any generality. In this paper we investigate the singularity of graphs for which the dihedral group acts transitively on vertices as a group of automorphisms.
In this paper, we give a necessary and sufficient condition for the integrality of Cayley graphs over the dihedral group $D_n=\langle a,b\mid a^n=b^2=1,bab=a^{-1}\rangle$. Moreover, we also obtain some simple sufficient conditions for the integrality of Cayley graphs over $D_n$ in terms of the Boolean algebra of $\langle a\rangle$, from which we find infinite classes of integral Cayley graphs over $D_n$. In particular, we completely determine all integral Cayley graphs over the dihedral group $D_p$ for a prime $p$.
Let $p$ be an odd prime, and $D_{2p}=\langle τ,σ\mid τ^p=σ^2=e,στσ=τ^{-1}\rangle$ the dihedral group of order $2p$. In this paper, we provide the number of (connected) Cayley (di-)graphs on $D_{2p}$ up to isomorphism by using the Pólya enumeration theorem. In the process, we also enumerate (connected) Cayley digraphs on $D_{2p}$ of out-degree $k$ up to isomorphism for each $k$.
Let $p$ be an odd prime, and $D_{2p}=\langle a,b\mid a^p=b^2=1,bab=a^{-1}\rangle$ the dihedral group of order $2p$. In this paper, we completely classify the cubic Cayley graphs on $D_{2p}$ up to isomorphism by means of spectral method. By the way, we show that two cubic Cayley graphs on $D_{2p}$ are isomorphic if and only if they are cospectral. Moreover, we obtain the number of isomorphic classes of cubic Cayley graphs on $D_{2p}$ by using Gauss' celebrated law of quadratic reciprocity.
Let $Γ$ be a simple connect graph on a finite vertex set $V$ and let $A$ be its adjacency matrix. Then $Γ$ is said to be \textit{singular} if and only if $0$ is an eigenvalue of $A.$ The \textit{nullity (singularity)} of $Γ,$ denoted by ${\rm null}(Γ),$ is the \textit{algebraic multiplicity} of the eigenvalue $0$ in the spectrum of $Γ.$ The general problem of characterising singular graphs is easy to state but it seems too difficult in this time. In this work, we investigate this problem for finite graphs on which the dihedral group $D_n$ acts vertex transitively as group of automorphisms. We …
A connected graph whose automorphism group acts transitively on the edges and vertices, but not on the set of ordered pairs of adjacent vertices of the graph is called half-arc-transitive. It is well known that the valence of a half-arc-transitive graph is even and at least four. Several infinite families of half-arc-transitive graphs of valence four are known, however, in all except four of the known specimens, the vertex-stabiliser in the automorphism group is abelian. The first example of a half-arc-transitive graph of valence four and with a non-abelian vertex-stabiliser was described in […
Let $Γ$ be a multigraph with for each vertex a cyclic order of the edges incident with it. For $n \geq 3$, let $D_{2n}$ be the dihedral group of order $2n$. Define $\mathbb{D} := \{(\begin{smallmatrix} 1 & a \\ 0 & 1 \end{smallmatrix}) \mid a \in \mathbb{Z}\}$. In [5] it was asked whether $Γ$ admits a nowhere-identity $D_{2n}$-flow if and only if it admits a nowhere-identity $\mathbb{D}$-flow with $|a| < n$ (a `nowhere-identity $\mathbb{D}_n$-flow'). We give counterexamples to this statement and provide general obstructions. Furthermore, the complexity of the existence of nowhere-identity $\ma…
The \textbf{Co-Prime Order Graph} $Θ(G)$ of a given finite group is a simple undirected graph whose vertex set is the group $G$ itself, and any two vertexes x,y in $Θ(G)$ are adjacent if and only if $gcd(o(x),o(y))=1$ or prime. In this paper, we find a precise formula to count the degree of a vertex in the Co-Prime Order graph of a finite abelian group or Dihedral group $D_n$.We also investigate the Laplacian spectrum of the Co-Prime Order Graph $Θ(G)$ when G is finite abelian p-group, ${\mathbb{Z}_p}^t \times {\mathbb{Z}_q}^s$ or Dihedral group $D_{p^n}$. In this paper we consider the critical group of finite connected graphs which admit harmonic actions by the dihedral group $D_n$. In particular, we show that if the orbits of the $D_n$-action all have either $n$ or $2n$ points then the critical group of such a graph can be decomposed in terms of the critical groups of the quotients of the graph by certain subgroups of the automorphism group. This is analogous to a theorem of Kani and Rosen which decomposes the Jacobians of algebraic curves with a $D_n$-action.
For a nonabelian group G, the non-commuting graph $Γ_G$ of $G$ is defined as the graph with vertex set $G-Z(G)$, where $Z(G)$ is the center of $G$, and two distinct vertices of $Γ_G$ are adjacent if they do not commute in $G$. In this paper, we investigate the detour index, eccentric connectivity and total eccentricity polynomials of non-commuting graph on $D_{2n}$. We also find the mean distance of non-commuting graph on $D_{2n}$.
In this paper we consider the critical group of finite connected graphs which admit harmonic actions by the dihedral group $D_n$, extending earlier work by the author and Criel Merino. In particular, we show that the critical group of such a graph can be decomposed in terms of the critical groups of the quotients of the graph by certain subgroups of the automorphism group. This is analogous to a theorem of Kani and Rosen which decomposes the Jacobians of algebraic curves with a $D_n$-action.
A cascade of dihedral symmetries is hidden in Young's lattice of integer partitions. In fact, for each integer N>2 the Hasse graph of the subposet consisting of the partitions with maximal hook length strictly less than N has the dihedral group of order 2N as its symmetry group. Here a new interpretation of those Hasse graphs is presented, namely as the 1-skeleta of the injective hulls of certain finite metric spaces.
This paper deals with the classification of groups $G$ such that power graphs and proper power graphs of $G$ are line graphs. In fact, we classify all finite nilpotent groups whose power graphs are line graphs. Also, we categorize all finite nilpotent groups (except non-abelian $2$-groups) whose proper power graphs are line graphs. Moreover, we investigate when the proper power graphs of generalized quaternion groups are line graphs. Besides, we derive a condition on the order of the dihedral groups for which the proper power graphs of the dihedral groups are line graphs.
We introduce the notion of an \emph{$n$-dimensional mixed dihedral group}, a general class of groups for which we give a graph theoretic characterisation. In particular, if $H$ is an $n$-dimensional mixed dihedral group then the we construct an edge-transitive Cayley graph $Γ$ of $H$ such that the clique graph $Σ$ of $Γ$ is a $2$-arc-transitive normal cover of $\K_{2^n,2^n}$, with a subgroup of $\Aut(Σ)$ inducing a particular \emph{edge-affine} action on $\K_{2^n,2^n}$. Conversely, we prove that if $Σ$ is a $2$-arc-transitive normal cover of $\K_{2^n,2^n}$, with a subgroup of $\Aut(Σ)$ inducin…
For $k,s\geq2$, the $s$-stable Kneser graphs are the graphs with vertex set the $k$-subsets $S$ of $\{1,\ldots,n\}$ such that the circular distance between any two elements in $S$ is at least $s$ and two vertices are adjacent if and only if the corresponding $k$-subset are disjoint. Braun showed that for $n\geq 2k+1$ the automorphism group of the $2$-stable Kneser graphs (Schrijver graphs) is isomorphic to the dihedral group of order $2n$. In this paper we generalize this result by proving that for $s\geq 2$ and $n\geq sk+1$ the automorphism group of the $s$-stable Kneser graphs also is isomor…
A Cayley (di)graph $Cay(G,S)$ of a group $G$ with respect to $S$ is said to be normal if the right regular representation of $G$ is normal in the automorphism group of $Cay(G,S)$, and is called a CI-(di)graph if there is $α\in Aut(G)$ such that $S^α=T$, whenever $Cay(G,S)\cong Cay(G,T)$ for a Cayley (di)graph $Cay(G,T)$. A finite group $G$ is called a DCI-group or a NDCI-group if all Cayley digraphs or normal Cayley digraphs of $G$ are CI-digraphs, and is called a CI-group or a NCI-group if all Cayley graphs or normal Cayley graphs of $G$ are CI-graphs, respectively. Motivated by a conjecture …
Honeycomb toroidal graphs are trivalent Cayley graphs on generalized dihedral groups. We examine the two historical threads leading to these graphs, some of the properties that have been established, and some open problems.
The power graph of a group $G$ is the graph whose vertex set is $G$ and two distinct vertices are adjacent if one is a power of the other. In this paper, the minimum degree of power graphs of certain classes of cyclic groups, abelian $p$-groups, dihedral groups and dicyclic groups are obtained. It is ascertained that the edge-connectivity and minimum degree of power graphs are equal, and consequently the minimum disconnecting sets of power graphs of the aforementioned groups are determined. Then the equality of connectivity and minimum degree of power graphs of finite groups is investigated an…

We characterize the strong metric dimension of the power graph of a finite group. As applications, we compute the strong metric dimension of the power graph of a cyclic group, an abelian group, a dihedral group or a generalized quaternion group.
Given a finite group with a generating subset there is a well-established notion of length for a group element given in terms of its minimal length expression as a product of elements from the generating set. Recently, certain quantities called $λ_{1}$ and $λ_{2}$ have been defined that allow for a precise measure of how stable a group is under certain types of small perturbations in the generating expressions for the elements of the group. These quantities provide a means to measure differences among all possible paths in a Cayley graph for a group, establish a group theoretic analog for the …
A number of authors have studied the question of when a graph can be represented as a Cayley graph on more than one nonisomorphic group. In this paper we give conditions for when a Cayley graph on an abelian group can be represented as a Cayley graph on a generalized dihedral group, and conditions for when the converse is true.
In this paper, we consider the problem on the existence of perfect state transfer(PST for short) on semi-Cayley graphs over abelian groups (which are not necessarily regular), i.e on the graphs having semiregular and abelian subgroups of automorphisms with two orbits of equal size. We stablish a characterization of semi-Cayley graphs over abelian groups having PST. As a result, we give a characterization of Cayley graphs over groups with an abelian subgroup of index 2 having PST, which improves the earlier results on Cayley graphs over abelian groups, dihedral groups and dicyclic group and det…
We study subclasses of grid intersection graphs from the perspective of order dimension. We show that partial orders of height two whose comparability graph is a grid intersection graph have order dimension at most four. Starting from this observation we provide a comprehensive study of classes of graphs between grid intersection graphs and bipartite permutation graphs and the containment relation on these classes. Order dimension plays a role in many arguments.
We analyse properties of geometric intersection graphs to show the strict containment between some natural classes of geometric intersection graphs. In particular, we show the following properties: - A graph $G$ is outerplanar if and only if the 1-subdivision of $G$ is outer-segment. - For each integer $k\ge 1$, the class of intersection graphs of segments with $k$ different lengths is a strict subclass of the class of intersection graphs of segments with $k+1$ different lengths. - For each integer $k\ge 1$, the class of intersection graphs of disks with $k$ different sizes is a strict subclas…
We investigate which chordal graphs have a representation as intersection graphs of pseudosegments. For positive we have a construction which shows that all chordal graphs that can be represented as intersection graph of subpaths on a tree are pseudosegment intersection graphs. We then study the limits of representability. We describe a family of intersection graphs of substars of a star which is not representable as intersection graph of pseudosegments. The degree of the substars in this example, however, has to get large. A more intricate analysis involving a Ramsey argument shows that even …
We prove that there are intersection graphs of axis-aligned boxes in $\mathbb{R}^3$ and intersection graphs of straight lines in $\mathbb{R}^3$ that have arbitrarily large girth and chromatic number.
We prove that a distance-regular graph with intersection array {56,36,9;1,3,48} does not exist. This intersection array is from the table of feasible parameters for distance-regular graphs in "Distance-regular graphs"\ by A.E. Brouwer, A.M. Cohen, A. Neumaier.
We prove that a distance-regular graph with intersection array $\{55,36,11;1,4,45\}$ does not exist. This intersection array is from the table of feasible parameters for distance-regular graphs in "Distance-regular graphs"\ by A.E. Brouwer, A.M. Cohen, A. Neumaier.
We give a tight bound for the triple intersection numbers of Paley graphs. In particular, we show that any three vertices have a common neighbor in Paley graphs of order larger than 25.
A mixed dihedral group is a group $H$ with two disjoint subgroups $X$ and $Y$, each elementary abelian of order $2^n$, such that $H$ is generated by $X\cup Y$, and $H/H'\cong X\times Y$. In this paper, for each $n\geq 2$, we construct a mixed dihedral $2$-group $H$ of nilpotency class $3$ and order $2^a$ where $a=(n^3+n^2+4n)/2$, and a corresponding graph $Σ$, which is the clique graph of a Cayley graph of $H$. We prove that $Σ$ is semisymmetric, that is, ${\rm Aut}(Σ)$ acts transitively on the edges, but intransitively on the vertices, of $Σ$. These graphs are the first known semisymmetric gr…
We will present a new method, which enables us to find threshold functions for many properties in random intersection graphs. This method will be used to establish sharp threshold functions in random intersection graphs for k-connectivity, perfect matching containment and Hamilton cycle containment.
