Flexible and efficient manipulation of magnetic configurations can be challenging. In the design of practical devices, achieving a high effective magnetic field with a low working current is under tight demand. Here, we report a unique method for efficient magnetism modulation by direct current injection in magnetic Weyl semimetal Co3Sn2S2. We demonstrate that the modulation process stems from current-assisted domain wall motion. Through two independent methods, we reveal that the spin-transfer torque efficiency of Co3Sn2S2 reaches as high as 2.4-5.6 kOe MA^(-1) cm^2, and the threshold current density for driving the magnetic domain walls is as low as <5.1*10^5 A/cm^2 without an external field, and <1.5*10^5 A/cm^2 with a moderate external field. Our findings manifest a new and powerful approach for sub-micron magnetism manipulation, and also open the door towards a new paradigm of spintronics that combines magnetism, topology, and metallicity for low-energy consumption memory and computing.
We study the enhancement of the magnetic transition temperature $T_c$ due to incident light in ferromagnetic semiconductors such as EuS. The photoexcited carriers mediate an extra ferromagnetic interaction due to the coupling with the localized magnetic moments. The Hamiltonian consists of a Heisenberg model for the localized moments and an interaction term between the photoexcited carriers and the localized moments. The model predicts a small enhancement of the transition temperature in semi-quantitative agreement with the experiments.
The interplay between magnetism, band topology, and electronic correlation in low dimensions has been a fascinating subject of research. Here, we propose two-dimensional (2D) material systems which demonstrate such an interesting interplay. Based on first-principles calculations and structural search algorithms, we identify three lowest energy 2D CoSe structures, termed as the $α$-, $β$-, and $γ$-CoSe. {We show that $α$- and $β$-CoSe are two rare examples of 2D antiferromagnetic metals, which are related to their Fermi surfaces nesting features, and meanwhile, $γ$-CoSe is a ferromagnetic metal…
Magnetism in Weyl semimetals is desired to investigate the interaction between the magnetic moments and Weyl fermions, e.g. to explore anomalous quantum Hall phenomena. Here we demonstrate that proton irradiation is an effective tool to induce ferromagnetism in the Weyl semimetal TaAs. The intrinsic magnetism is observed with a transition temperature above room temperature. The magnetic moments from d states are found to be localized around Ta atoms. Further, the first-principles calculations indicate that the d states localized on the nearest-neighbor Ta atoms of As vacancy sites are responsi…
We address the importance of the modern theory of orbital magnetization for spintronics. Based on an all-electron first-principles approach, we demonstrate that the predictive power of the routinely employed "atom-centered" approximation is limited to materials like elemental bulk ferromagnets, while the application of the modern theory of orbital magnetization is crucial in chemically or structurally inhomogeneous systems such as magnetic thin films, and materials exhibiting non-trivial topology in reciprocal and real space,~e.g.,~Chern insulators or non-collinear systems. We find that the mo…
We perform classical Monte Carlo and stochastic Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert simulations to study temperature dependent magnetism of Kagome antiferromagnet (AFM) Weyl metal $\text{Mn}_3\text{Ge}$ and find that a long range chiral order sets in at a transition temperature well below the N{é}el temperature ($T_N$). Based on the crystalline symmetries, imposed by the chiral magnetic order, we argue for the presence of multiple iso-energetic Weyl nodes (nodes that are at same energy and with congruent Fermi surface around them) near chemical potential. Using the semi-classical Boltzmann equations, we s…
A recent experimental study (Phys. Rev. Appl. 9, 024023, 2018) on paramagnetic CeCo$_3$ finds that Magnesium alloying induces a ferromagnetic transition with intrinsic properties large enough for permanent magnet applications. Here we explain these surprising results \textit{via} a first principles study of the electronic structure and magnetism of Magnesium-alloyed CeCo$_3$. We find the origin of this Magnesium-induced ferromagnetic transition to be Stoner physics - the substantial increase in the Fermi-level density-of-states $N(E_F)$ with Mg alloying. Our calculations suggest that both Ce a…
The noncentrosymmetric ferromagnetic Weyl semimetal CeAlSi with simultaneous space-inversion (SI) and time-reversal (TR) symmetry breaking provides a unique platform for the exploration of novel topological states. Here, by employing electrical and thermoelectrical transport, angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES), high-pressure techniques, and band calculations, we demonstrate that magnetism and pressure can serve as efficient parameters to tune the positions of Weyl nodes in CeAlSi. At ambient pressure, an anomalous Hall effect (AHE) and an anomalous Nernst effect (ANE) arise in t…
Chemisorption on ferromagnetic and non-magnetic surfaces is discussed within the Newns-Anderson-Grimley model along with the Stoner model of ferromagnetism. In the case of ferromagnetic surfaces, the adsorption energy is formulated in terms of the change in surface magnetic moments. Using such a formulation, we address the issue of how an adsorbate's binding strength depends on the magnetic moments of the surface and how the adsorption process reduces/enhances the magnetic moments of the surface. Our results indicates a possible adsorption energy scaling relationship in terms surface magnetic …
Electron spin resonance spectra of copper phthalocyanine doped with alkaline metals (AxCuPc) have been investigated. The temperature dependence of ESR spectra indicates the ferromagnetic behavior. The Curie-Weiss temperature varies from 30K to 115K depending on the stoichiometry x of samples. Some particles of polycrystalline samples were attracted to a weak magnet at temperature slightly higher than 77K. The observed magnetism is caused by unpaired pi-electrons of phthalocyanine anions on the Eg doubly degenerated molecular orbital. The observed ferromagnetism can be understood within the fra…
Recently intrinsic ferromagnetism in two-dimensional(2D) van der Waals materials was discovered [1, 2, 3]. A monolayer of Chromiun triiodide(CrI3) is ferromagnetic while a bilayer structure was reported to be anti-ferro magnetic, moreover an external electric field changes its magnetic phase [4]. We have studied the two found in nature stackings of CrI3 bilayers and found that indeed the magnetic phase of one of them can be tuned by an external electric field while the other remains ferromagnetic. We simulate those results with ab initio calculations and explain them with a simple model based …
The van der Waals ferromagnet Fe$_3$GeTe$_2$ has recently attracted extensive research attention due to its intertwined magnetic, electronic and topological properties. Here, using high-resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy, we systematically investigate the temperature evolution of the electronic structure of bulk Fe$_3$GeTe$_2$. We observe largely dispersive energy bands that are narrowed by a factor of 1.6 compared with ab-initio calculation. Upon heating towards the ferromagnetic transition near 225 K, we observe a massive reduction of quasiparticle coherence in a large ener…
DyFeO3 exhibits a weak ferromagnetism (TNFe ~ 645 K) that disappears below a spin-reorientation (Morin) transition at TSRFe ~ 50 K. It is also known that applied magnetic field induces ferroelectricity at the magnetic ordering temperature of Dy-ions (TNDy ~ 4.5 K). Here, we show that the ferroelectricity exists in the weak ferromagnetic state (TSRFe < T < TN,C) without applying magnetic field, indicating the crucial role of weak ferromagnetism in inducing ferroelectricity. 57Fe Mössbauer studies show that hyperfine field (Bhf) deviates from mean field-like behaviour that is observed in the wea…
The discovery of magnetic topological semimetals recently attracted significant attention in the field of topology and thermoelectrics. In a thermoelectric device based on the Nernst geometry, an external magnet is required as an integral part. We report a zero-field Nernst effect in a newly discovered hard-ferromagnetic kagome-lattice Weyl-semimetal Co3Sn2S2. A maximum Nernst thermopower of 3 microvolt/K at 80 K in zero field is achieved in this magnetic Weyl-semimetal. Our results demonstrate the possibility of application of topological hard magnetic semimetals for low-power thermoelectric …
We have investigated the electronic and magnetic properties of Co$_{1-{\rm x}}$Fe$_{\rm x}$Sb$_{3}$ skutterudites from density functional theory and Monte Carlo simulations. We find that above a certain threshold in the Fe concentration, somewhere between x=0.125 and x=0.25, Co$_{1-{\rm x}}$Fe$_{\rm x}$Sb$_{3}$ is ferromagnetic with an atomic moment which increases asymptotically towards about 1 $μ_{B}$/Fe and a non-zero Curie temperature which reaches 70 K for FeSb$_{3}$. Ferromagnetism is favored due to a Stoner instability in the electronic structure, where a large density of states at the …
We demonstrate the electrical and optical control of ferromagnetism in semiconductor heterostructures at high temperatures of 100-117 K. The heterostructures consist of Mn delta-doped GaAs and p-type AlGaAs, where the overlap of the hole wavefunction with the Mn delta-doping profile leads to high ferromagnetic transition temperature TC of over 100 K (max. 172 K). We are able to isothermally change the paramagnetic state to the ferromagnetic state and vice versa, by applying a gate electric-field or by light irradiation. The large modulation of TC (DTC ~15 K) at high temperatures (> ~100 K) dem…
Based on high-throughput first-principles calculations, we evaluated the anomalous Hall and anomalous Nernst conductivities of 266 transition-metal-based ferromagnetic compounds. Detailed analysis based on the symmetries and Berry curvatures reveals that the origin of singular-like behaviour of anomalous Hall/Nernst conductivities can be mostly attributed to the appearance of Weyl nodes or nodal lines located in the proximity of the Fermi energy, which can be further tailored by external stimuli such as biaxial strains and magnetic fields. Moreover, such calculations are enabled by the automat…
Weyl semimetals are playing a major role in condensed matter physics due to exotic topological properties, and their coexistence with ferromagnetism may lead to enhanced spin-related phenomena. Here, the inverse spin Hall effect (ISHE) in the ferromagnetic Weyl-semimetal Heusler alloy Co$_2$MnGa was investigated at room temperature by means of electrical spin injection in lateral spin valve structures. Spin transport properties such as spin polarization and spin diffusion length in this material were precisely extracted in order to estimate the spin Hall angle $θ_{\textrm{SH}}$, which was foun…
Nanoscale CeO2 (nanoceria) is a prototypical system that presents d0 ferromagnetism. Using a combination of x-ray absorption spectroscopy, x-ray magnetic circular dichroism and modelling, we show that nanostructure, defects and disorder, and non-stoichiometry create magnetically polarized Ce 4f and O 2p hybridized states captured by the vacancy orbitals (Vorb) that are vital to ferromagnetism. Further, we demonstrate that foreign ions (Fe and Co) enhance the moment at Ce 4f sites while the number of Vorb is unchanged, pointing clearly to the mechanism of orbital hybridization being key missing…
We investigate the contributions of finite-temperature magnetic fluctuations to the thermodynamic properties of bcc Fe as a function of pressure. First, we apply a tight-binding total-energy model parameterized to first-principles linearized augmented planewave computations to examine various ferromagnetic, anti-ferromagnetic, and noncollinear spin spiral states at zero temperature. The tight-binding data are fit to a generalized Heisenberg Hamiltonian to describe the magnetic energy functional based on local moments. We then use Monte Carlo simulations to compute the magnetic susceptibility, …
Using a first principles based, magnetic tight-binding total energy model, the magnetization energy and moments are computed for various ordered spin configurations in the high pressure polymorphs of iron (fcc, or $γ$-Fe, and hcp, or $ε$-Fe), as well ferromagnetic bcc iron ($α$-Fe). For hcp, a non-collinear, antiferromagnetic, spin configuration that minimizes unfavorable ferromagnetic nearest neighbor ordering is the lowest energy state and is more stable than non-magnetic $ε$ iron up to about 75 GPa. Accounting for non-collinear magnetism yields better agreement with the experimental equatio…
The high-spectral-resolution spectroscopic studies of the energy gap evolution, supplemented with electronic, magnetic and structural characterization, show that the modification of the GaAs valence band caused by Mn incorporation occurs already for a very low Mn content, much lower than that required to support ferromagnetic spin - spin coupling in (Ga,Mn)As. Only for n-type (Ga,Mn)As with the Mn content below about 0.3% the Mn-related extended states are visible as a feature detached from the valence-band edge and partly occupied with electrons. The combined magnetic and low-temperature phot…
Recently discovered ferromagnetism of the layered van der Waals material VI$_3$ attracts much research attention. Despite substantial progress,in the following important aspects no consensus has been reached: (i) a possible deviation of the easy axis from the normal to the VI$_3$ layers, (ii) a possible inequivalence of the V atoms, (iii) the value of the V magnetic moments. The theoretical works differ in the conclusions on the conduction nature of the system, the value and the role of the V orbital moments. To the best of our knowledge there is no theoretical works addressing issues (i) and (…
The signature of magnetism without a ferromagnet in a non-magnetic heterostructure is novel as well as fascinating from fundamental research point of view. It has been shown by Al'Mari et al: that magnetism can be induced at the interface of Cu/C60 due to change in density of states. However, the quantification of such interfacial magnetic moment has not been performed yet. In order to quantify the induced magnetic moment in Cu, we have performed X-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD) measurements on Cu/C$_{60}$ multilayers. We have observed room temperature ferromagnetism in Cu/C$_{60}$ sta…
Conventional magnetism occurs in systems which contain transition metals or rare earth ions with partially filled $d$ or $f$ shells. It is theoretically predicted that compounds of groups IA and IIA with IV and V, in some structural phases, are ferromagnetic half-metals which made them new candidates for spintronics applications. Employing density functional theory (DFT) we investigate magnetism in binary compounds CaN and CaAs. Regarding the structure of analogous magnetic materials and experimental results of CaAs synthesis, we have considered two cubic structures: rocksalt (RS) and zincblen…
Light-matter strong coupling in the vacuum limit has been shown to enhance material properties over the past decade. Oxide nanoparticles are known to exhibit weak ferromagnetism due to vacancies in the lattice. Here we report the 700-fold enhancement of the ferromagnetism of YBa$_2$Cu$_3$O$_{7-x}$ nanoparticles under cooperative strong coupling at room temperature. The magnetic moment reaches 0.90 $μ_{\rm B}$/mol, and with such a high value, it competes with YBa$_2$Cu$_3$O$_{7-x}$ superconductivity at low temperature. This strong ferromagnetism at room temperature suggest that strong coupling …
We experimentally demonstrate the existence of magnetic coupling between two ferromagnets separated by a thin Pt layer. The coupling remains ferromagnetic regardless of the Pt thickness, and exhibits a significant dependence on temperature. Therefore, it cannot be explained by the established mechanisms of magnetic coupling across nonmagnetic spacers. We show that the experimental results are consistent with the presence of magnetism induced in Pt in proximity to ferromagnets, in direct analogy to the well-known proximity effects in superconductivity.
Magnetic Weyl semimetals are expected to have extraordinary physical properties such as a chiral anomaly and large anomalous Hall effects that may be useful for future, potential, spintronics applications. However, in most known host materials, multiple pairs of Weyl points prevent a clear manifestation of the intrinsic topological effects. Our recent density functional theory (DFT) calculations study suggest that EuCd$_{2}$As$_{2}$ can host Dirac fermions in an antiferromagnetically (AFM) ordered state or a single pair of Weyl fermions in a ferromagnetically (FM) ordered state. Unfortunately,…
Results of the first principles study on the electronic structure and magnetism of the superconducting weak ferromagnet Y$_4$Co$_3$, are presented. Using the full potential Korringa-Kohn-Rostoker (FP-KKR) method, densities of states, dispersion curves and magnetic moments were calculated for quasi-ordered structural model of the compound in the framework of the local density approximation. Spin-polarized KKR calculations confirm that weak ferromagnetic properties of Y$_4$Co$_3$ can be attributed to only one cobalt atom located on (2b) site in the unit cell, while other twenty Co and Y atoms ac…
Using first-principles density functional calculations we demonstrate that ferromagnetism can be induced and modulated on an otherwise paramagnetic Pd metal thin-film surface through application of an external electric field. As free charges are either accumulated or depleted at the Pd surface to screen the applied electric field there is a corresponding change in the surface density of states. This change can be made sufficient for the Fermi-level density of states to satisfy the Stoner criterion, driving a transition locally at the surface from a paramagnetic state to an itinerant ferromagne…
Magnetism of the spin-$\frac12$ $α$-KVOPO$_4$ is studied by thermodynamic measurements, $^{31}$P nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), neutron diffraction, and density-functional band-structure calculations. Ferromagnetic Curie-Weiss temperature of $θ_{\rm CW}\simeq 15.9$ K and the saturation field of $μ_0H_s\simeq 11.3$ T suggest the predominant ferromagnetic coupling augmented by a weaker antiferromagnetic exchange that leads to a short-range order below 5 K and the long-range antiferromagnetic order below $T_{\rm N}\simeq 2.7$ K in zero field. Magnetic structure with the propagation vector $\ma…
We employ the dynamical mean field approximation to perform a systematic study of magnetism in Ga_{1-x}Mn_xAs. Our model incorporates the effects of the strong spin-orbit coupling on the J=3/2 GaAs valence bands and of the exchange interaction between the randomly distributed magnetic ions and the itinerant holes. The ferromagnetic phase transition temperature T_c is obtained for different values of the impurity-hole coupling J_c and of the hole concentration n_h at the Mn doping of x=0.05. We also investigate the temperature dependence of the local magnetization and spin polarization of the h…
Magnetic ordering of itinerant fermionic systems is at the forefront of condensed matter physics dating back to Stoner's instability. Spin-orbit coupling (SOC) which couples two essential ingredients of an itinerant fermionic system, namely spin and orbital motion, opens up new horizons to this long-standing problem. Here we report that the itinerant ferromagnetism is absent in 3D Fermi gas with a Weyl SOC and various itinerant spin density waves emerge instead, which is deeply rooted in the unique symmetry and spin-momentum locking effect in spin-orbit coupled systems. What is more appealing …
We point out that, contrary to an assertion by Chen, Bergman and Burkov [Phys. Rev. B 88, 125110 (2013)], the non-quantized part of the intrinsic anomalous Hall conductivity can indeed be expressed as a Fermi-surface property even when Weyl points are present in the bandstructure.
We propose a model of carrier-mediated ferromagnetism in semiconductors that accounts for the temperature dependence of the carriers. The model permits analysis of the thermodynamic stability of competing magnetic states, opening the door to the construction of magnetic phase diagrams. As an example we analyze the stability of a possible reentrant ferromagnetic semiconductor, in which increasing temperature leads to an increased carrier density, such that the enhanced exchange coupling between magnetic impurities results in the onset of ferromagnetism as temperature is raised.
The design and synthesis of targeted functional materials have been a long-term goal for material scientists. Although a universal design strategy is difficult to generate for all types of materials, however, it is still helpful for a typical family of materials to have such design rules. Herein, we incorporated several significant chemical and physical factors regarding magnetism, such as structure type, atom distance, spin-orbit coupling, and successfully synthesized a new rare-earth-free ferromagnet, MnPt5As, for the first time. MnPt5As can be prepared by using high-temperature pellet metho…
We have studied the properties of relatively thick (about 120 nm) magnetic composite films grown by pulsed laser deposition method using (GaSb)$_{0.59}$(MnSb)$_{0.41}$ eutectic compound as a target for sputtering. For the studied films we have observed ferromagnetism and anomalous Hall effect above the room temperature, it manifests the presence of spin-polarized carriers. Electron microscopy, atomic and magnetic force microscopy results suggests that films under study have homogenous columnar structure in the bulk while MnSb inclusions accumulate near it's surface. This is in good agreement w…
We investigate the macroscopic and microscopic physical properties of the solid solution of Ce$_{1-x}$Pr$_{x}$AlGe. The series tunes from CeAlGe with its multi-$\vec{k}$ structure and a major Moment in the ab-plane, to PrAlGe with an easy-c-axis ferromagnetic ground state co-existing with a low density of nanoscale textured magnetic Domain walls. Using AC-, DC-susceptiblity, resistivity, specific heat, muon spin relaxation/rotation and neutron scattering we analyze the magnetic ground state of the series. We provide further evidence supporting our previous claim for spin-glass like properties …
The electronic properties of the polar interface between insulating oxides is a subject of great current interest. An exciting new development is the observation of robust magnetism at the interface of two non-magnetic materials LaAlO_3 (LAO) and SrTiO_3 (STO). Here we present a microscopic theory for the formation and interaction of local moments, which depends on essential features of the LAO/STO interface. We show that correlation-induced moments arise due to interfacial splitting of orbital degeneracy. We find that gate-tunable Rashba spin-orbit coupling at the interface influences the exc…
Magnetic Weyl fermions, which occur in magnets, have novel transport phenomena related to pairs of Weyl nodes, and they are, of both, scientific and technological interest, with the potential for use in high-performance electronics, spintronics and quantum computing. Although magnetic Weyl fermions have been predicted to exist in various oxides, evidence for their existence in oxide materials remains elusive. SrRuO3, a 4d ferromagnetic metal often used as an epitaxial conducting layer in oxide heterostructures, provides a promising opportunity to seek for the existence of magnetic Weyl fermion…
Ferromagnetic topological semimetals due to their band topology co-existing with intrinsic magnetization exerted important influences on early study of topological fermions. However, they have not been observed in experiments up to now. In this work, we propose that rutile CrO$_{2}$, a widely used half-metallic ferromagnetic material in magnetic recording taps, exhibits unexpected ferromagnetic topological features. Using first-principles calculations and symmetry analysis, we reveal that rutile CrO$_2$ hosts the triple nodal points in the absence of spin orbital coupling (SOC). By taking into…
High-quality (001)-oriented (pseudo-cubic notation) ferromagnetic YTiO$_3$ thin films were epitaxially synthesized in a layer-by-layer way by pulsed laser deposition. Structural, magnetic and electronic properties were characterized by reflection-high-energy-electron-diffraction, X-ray diffraction, vibrating sample magnetometry, and element-resolved resonant soft X-ray absorption spectroscopy. To reveal ferromagnetism of the constituent titanium ions, X-ray magnetic circular dichroism spectroscopy was carried out using four detection modes probing complimentary spatial scale, which overcomes a…
We report the magnetic and electronic transport properties of the inversion and time-reversal symmetry breaking Weyl semimetal NdAlGe. This material is analogous to NdAlSi, whose helical magnetism presents a rare example of a Weyl-mediated collective phenomenon, but with a larger spin-orbit coupling. Our neutron diffraction experiments revealed that NdAlGe, similar to NdAlSi, supports an incommensurate Ising spin density wave ($T_{\text{inc}}=6.8$ K) with a small helical spin canting of 3$^\circ$ and a long-wavelength of $\sim$ 35 nm, which transitions to a commensurate ferrimagnetic state bel…
Two-dimensional (2D) materials have attracted great attention and spurred rapid development in both fundamental research and device applications. The search for exotic physical properties, such as magnetic and topological order, in 2D materials could enable the realization of novel quantum devices and is therefore at the forefront of materials science. Here, we report the discovery of two-fold degenerate Weyl nodal lines in a 2D ferromagnetic material, a single-layer gadolinium-silver compound, based on combined angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy measurements and theoretical calculation…
The origin of anomalous Hall effect (AHE) in magnetic materials is one of the most intriguing aspect in condensed matter physics and has been controversial for a long time. Recent studies indicate that the intrinsic AHE is closely related to the Berry curvature of occupied electronic states. In a magnetic Weyl semimetal with broken time-reversal symmetry, there are significant contributions on Berry curvature around Weyl nodes, which would lead to a large intrinsic AHE. Here, we report the large intrinsic AHE in the half-metallic ferromagnet Co3Sn2S2 single crystal. By systematically mapping o…
Electrical control of magnetism is a long-standing goal in physics and technology, recently developed electrolyte gating techniques providing a promising route to realization. Validating a recent theoretical prediction, here we demonstrate large enhancement of electrostatic modulation of ferromagnetic order in ion-gel-gated ultrathin La$_{0.5}$Sr$_{0.5}$CoO$_{3-δ}$ by thickness-tuning to the brink of a magnetic percolation transition. Application of only 3-4 V then drives a transition from a short-range-ordered insulator to a robust long-range ferromagnetic metal, realizing giant electrostatic…
We use a previously proposed theory for the temperature dependence of tunneling magnetoresistance to shed light on ongoing efforts to optimize spin valves. First we show that a mechanism in which spin valve performance at finite temperatures is limited by uncorrelated thermal fluctuations of magnetization orientations on opposite sides of a tunnel junction is in good agreement with recent studies of the temperature-dependent magnetoresistance of high quality tunnel junctions with MgO barriers. Using this insight, we propose a simple formula which captures the advantages for spin-valve optimiza…
Reports of emergent conductivity, superconductivity, and magnetism at oxide interfaces have helped to fuel intense interest in their rich physics and technological potential. Here we employ magnetic force microscopy to search for room-temperature magnetism in the well-studied LaAlO3/SrTiO3 system. Using electrical top gating to deplete electrons from the oxide interface, we directly observe an in-plane ferromagnetic phase with sharply defined domain walls. Itinerant electrons, introduced by a top gate, align antiferromagnetically with the magnetization, at first screening and then destabilizin…
Magnetic topological materials have recently drawn significant importance and interest, due to their topologically nontrivial electronic structure within spontaneous magnetic moments and band inversion. Based on first-principles calculations, we propose that chromium dioxide, in its ferromagnetic pyrite structure, can realize one pair of type-II Weyl points between the $N$th and $(N+1)$th bands, where $N$ is the total number of valence electrons per unit cell. Other Weyl points between the $(N-1)$th and $N$th bands also appear close to the Fermi level due to the complex topological electronic …
