Carina is a nearby young stellar association. So far, only a small number of stars have been clearly identified as members of this association. In this paper we reanalyse the membership of the association in light of Gaia DR2 data, in particular finding that HD 95086 is a potential member (probability of 71%). This star is noteworthy as one of the few stars that hosts both a detected debris disc and a directly imaged planet. It has previously only been considered as a potential member of the Lower Centaurus Crux (LCC) - part of the Scorpius-Centaurus association. We also reanalyse the age of the Carina association. Using a Bayesian inference code applied to infer a solution from stellar evolution models for the most probable (>99%) members of Carina, we infer an age for the association of 13.3$^{+1.1}_{-0.6}$ Myr, much younger than previous studies. Whilst we have revised HD 95086's association membership from LCC to Carina, the fact that we also find Carina to have a younger age, similar to that of LCC, means that the estimates of HD 95086b's mass remain unchanged. However, the younger age of Carina does mean that the companion to another Carina member, HD 44627 (or AB Pic), has a mass that is more clearly in the planet rather than brown dwarf range.
We present a characterization of the new Volans-Carina Association (VCA) of stars near the Galactic plane (b ~ -10 deg) at a distance of ~75-100 pc, previously identified as group 30 by Oh et al. (2017). We compile a list of 19 likely members from Gaia DR2 with spectral types B8-M2, and 46 additional candidate members from Gaia DR2, 2MASS and AllWISE with spectral types A0-M9 that require further follow-up for confirmation. We find an isochronal age of $89_{-7}^{+5}$ Myr based on MIST isochrones calibrated with Pleiades members. This new association of stars is slightly younger than the Pleiad…
OB associations are the prime star forming sites in galaxies. However the detailed formation process of such stellar systems still remains a mystery. In this context, identifying the presence of substructures may help tracing the footprints of their formation process. Here, we present a kinematic study of the two massive OB associations Cygnus OB2 and Carina OB1 using the precise astrometry from the Gaia Data Release 2 and radial velocities. From the parallaxes of stars, these OB associations are confirmed to be genuine stellar systems. Both Cygnus OB2 and Carina OB1 are composed of a few dens…
We present stellar parameters and abundances of 11 elements (Li, Na, Mg, Al, Si, Ca, Ti, Cr, Fe, Ni, and Zn) of 13 F6-K2 main-sequence stars in the young groups AB Doradus, Carina Near, and Ursa Major. The exoplanet-host star ιHorologii is also analysed. The three young associations have lithium abundance consistent with their age. All other elements show solar abundances. The three groups are characterised by a small scatter in all abundances, with mean [Fe/H] values of 0.10 (σ=0.03), 0.08 (σ=0.05), and 0.01 (σ=0.03) dex for AB Doradus, Carina Near, and Ursa Major, respectively. The distribut…
Recently, several studies have shown that young, open clusters are characterised by a considerable over-abundance in their barium content. In particular, D'Orazi et al. (2009) reported that in some younger clusters [Ba/Fe] can reach values as high as ~0.6 dex. The work also identified the presence of an anti-correlation between [Ba/Fe] and cluster age. For clusters in the age range ~4.5 Gyr-500 Myr, this is best explained by assuming a higher contribution from low-mass asymptotic giant branch stars to the Galactic chemical enrichment. The purpose of this work is to investigate the ubiquity of …
The Disk Detective citizen science project recently released a new catalog of disk candidates found by visual inspection of images from NASA's Wide-Field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) mission and other surveys. We applied this new catalog of well-vetted disk candidates to search for new members of nearby young stellar associations (YSAs) using a novel technique based on Gaia data and virtual reality (VR). We examined AB Doradus, Argus, $β$ Pictoris, Carina, Columba, Octans-Near, Tucana-Horologium, and TW Hya by displaying them in VR together with other nearby stars, color-coded to show infra…
The reality of a field Argus Association has been doubted in some papers in the literature. We apply Gaia DR2 data to stars previously suggested to be Argus members and conclude that a true association exists with age 40-50 Myr and containing many stars within 100 pc of Earth; Beta Leo and 49 Cet are two especially interesting members. Based on youth and proximity to Earth, Argus is one of the better nearby moving groups to target in direct imaging programs for dusty debris disks and young planets.
We present a search for stellar members of young associations within 150 pc of the Sun based on Gaia-Tycho and an updated version of the BANYAN $Σ$ software to determine Bayesian membership probabilities that includes Gaia-2MASS color-magnitude diagrams. We identify 32 new F0-M3-type bona fide members of the 10-200 Myr-old Sco-Cen, Carina, Tucana-Horologium, Columba and Octans associations and the AB Doradus, $β$ Pictoris and Carina-Near moving groups. These new bona fide members have measurements of their full kinematics and literature data consistent with a young age. We also confirm the mem…
We assess the current membership of the nearby, young TW Hydrae Association and examine newly proposed members with the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) to search for infrared excess indicative of circumstellar disks. Newly proposed members TWA 30A, TWA 30B, TWA 31, and TWA 32 all show excess emission at 12 and 22 \mum providing clear evidence for substantial dusty circumstellar disks around these low-mass, ~8 Myr old stars that were previously shown to likely be accreting from circumstellar material. TWA 30B shows large amounts of self-extinction, likely due to an edge-on disk geome…
We present a new method based on a Bayesian analysis to identify new members of nearby young kinematic groups. The analysis minimally takes into account the position, proper motion, magnitude and color of a star, but other observables can be readily added (e.g. radial velocity, distance). We use this method to find new young low-mass stars in the βPictoris (βPMG) and AB Doradus (ABDMG) moving groups and in the TW Hydrae (TWA), Tucana-Horologium (THA), Columba, Carina and Argus associations. Starting from a sample of 758 mid-KM (K5V-M5V) stars showing youth indicators such as Hα and X-ray emiss…
We report the results of a new survey of massive, OB stars throughout the Carina Nebula using the X-ray point source catalog provided by the Chandra Carina Complex Project (CCCP) in conjunction with infrared (IR) photometry from the Two Micron All-Sky Survey and the Spitzer Space Telescope Vela--Carina survey. Mid-IR photometry is relatively unaffected by extinction, hence it provides strong constraints on the luminosities of OB stars, assuming that their association with the Carina Nebula, and hence their distance, is confirmed. We fit model stellar atmospheres to the optical (UBV) and IR spe…
We present a new high-mass membership of the nearby Sco OB2 association based on HIPPARCOS positions, proper motions and parallaxes and radial velocities taken from the Kharchenko et al. (2007) catalogue. The Bayesian membership selection method developed makes no distinction between subgroups of Sco OB2 and utilises linear models in calculation of membership probabilities. We select 436 members, 88 of which are new members not included in previous membership selections. We include the classical non members Alpha-Cru and Beta-Cru as new members as well as the pre-main-sequence stars HIP 79080 …
The study of young associations is essential for building a complete record of local star formation processes. The Fornax-Horologium association (FH), including the $χ^1$ Fornacis cluster, represents one of the nearest young stellar populations to the Sun. This association has recently been linked to the Tuc-Hor, Carina, and Columba associations, building an extensive "Austral Complex" almost entirely within 150 pc. Using Gaia astrometry and photometry in addition to new spectroscopic observations, we perform the deepest survey of FH to date, identifying over 300 candidate members, nearly doub…
Galactic Wolf-Rayet (WR) star membership of star forming regions can be used to constrain the formation environments of massive stars. Here, we utilise $\textit{Gaia}$ DR2 parallaxes and proper motions to reconsider WR star membership of clusters and associations in the Galactic disk, supplemented by recent near-IR studies of young massive clusters. We find that only 18$-$36% of 553 WR stars external to the Galactic Centre region are located in clusters, OB associations or obscured star-forming regions, such that at least 64% of the known disk WR population are isolated, in contrast with only …
We present the results of a spectroscopic monitoring campaign devoted to three O-type stars in the Carina nebula. We derive the full SB2 orbital solution of the binary system Tr 16-112, an exceptional dissymmetrical system consisting of an O5.5-6V((f$^+$?p)) primary and a B2V-III secondary. We also report on low-amplitude brightness variations in Tr 16-112 that are likely due to the ellipsoidal shape of the O5.5-6 primary revolving in an eccentric orbit around the system's centre of mass. We detect for the first time a clear SB2 binary signature in the spectrum of HD 93343 (O8 + O8), although …
We have obtained multi-epoch observations of 31 O-type stars in the Carina Nebula using the CHIRON spectrograph on the CTIO/SMARTS 1.5-m telescope. We measure their radial velocities to 1--2 km s$^{-1}$ precision and present new or updated orbital solutions for the binary systems HD 92607, HD 93576, HDE 303312, and HDE 305536. We also compile radial velocities from the literature for 32 additional O-type and evolved massive stars in the region. The combined data set shows a mean heliocentric radial velocity of 0.6 km s$^{-1}$. We calculate a velocity dispersion of $\le9.1$ km s$^{-1}$, consist…
We present new UBVI_C CCD photometry of the young open clusters Trumpler 14 (Tr 14) and Trumpler 16 (Tr 16) in the eta Carina nebula. We also identify the optical counterpart of Chandra X-ray sources and Two Micron All Sky Survey point sources. The members of the clusters were selected from the proper motion study, spectral types, reddening characteristics, and X-ray or near-IR excess emission. An abnormal reddening law R_V,cl=4.4\pm0.2 was obtained for the stars in the eta Carina nebula using the 141 early-type stars with high proper motion membership probability (P_u\geq70). We determined th…
We present an analysis of the WISE photometric data for 829 stars in the Sco-Cen OB2 association, using the latest high-mass membership probabilities. We detect infrared excesses associated with 135 BAF-type stars, 99 of which are secure Sco-Cen members. There is a clear increase in excess fraction with membership probability, which can be fitted linearly. We infer that 41+-5% of Sco-Cen OB2 BAF stars to have excesses, while the field star excess fraction is consistent with zero. This is the first time that the probability of non-membership has been used in the calculation of excess fractions …
Chemical abundances are presented for 19 elements in a sample of 63 red giants in the Carina dwarf spheroidal galaxy (dSph), based on homogeneous 1D/LTE model atmosphere analyses of our own observations (32 stars) and data available in the literature (a further 31 independent stars). The (Fe) metallicity and [$α$/Fe] distribution functions have mean values and dispersions of -1.59 and 0.33 dex ([Fe/H] range: -2.68 to -0.64), and 0.07 and 0.13 dex ([$α$/Fe] range: -0.27 to 0.25), respectively. We confirm the finding of Venn et al. (2012) that a small percentage (some 10% in the present investig…
We describe detailed simulations of X-ray-emitting populations to evaluate the levels of contamination by both Galactic and extragalactic X-ray sources unrelated to a star-forming region under study. For Galactic contaminations, we consider contribution from main-sequence stars and giants (not including cataclysmic variables and other classes of accretion-driven X-ray binary systems) as they make the dominant contribution at the position of the Carina Nebula. The simulations take into consideration a variety of technical factors involving a Galactic population synthesis model, stellar X-ray lu…
We report the first results of imaging the Carina Nebula with Spitzer/IRAC, providing a catalog of point sources and YSOs based on SED fits. We discuss several aspects of the extended emission, including dust pillars that result when a clumpy molecular cloud is shredded by massive star feedback. There are few "extended green objects" (EGOs) normally taken as signposts of outflow activity, and none of the HH jets detected optically are seen as EGOs. A population of "extended red objects" tends to be found around OB stars, some with clear bow-shocks. These are dusty shocks where stellar winds co…
In the last decade many kinematic groups of young stars (<100 Myr) were discovered in the solar neighbourhood. Since the most interesting period of planet formation overlaps with the age of these groups, their well dated members are attractive targets for exoplanet searches by direct imaging. We combined astrometric, photometric and X-ray data, and applied strict selection criteria to explore the stellar content of five nearby moving groups. We identified more than 100 potential new candidate members in the ß Pic moving group, and in the Tucana-Horologium, Columba, Carina, and Argus associatio…
In this research note we identify 130 new M-type candidate members of young associations with the BANYAN $Σ$ tool and recently published trigonometric distances from RECONS and URAT-South. We identify a white dwarf candidate in the AB Doradus moving group, but determine that its cooling age is too large and reject it as a member. Three stars (G 13-39, LHS 2935 and G 152-1) now have complete kinematics and are strong candidate members in the AB Doradus and Carina-Near moving groups, but still lack a confirmation of their young age independent of their kinematics.
The public, all-sky surveys Gaia and TESS provide the ability to identify new young associations and determine their ages. These associations enable study of planetary evolution by providing new opportunities to discover young exoplanets. A young association was recently identified by Tang et al. and F{ü}rnkranz et al. using astrometry from Gaia (called "Group-X" by the former). In this work, we investigate the age and membership of this association; and we validate the exoplanet TOI 2048 b, which was identified to transit a young, late G dwarf in Group-X using photometry from TESS. We first i…
We present a comprehensive investigation of the Epsilon Chamaeleontis association (Epsilon Cha), one of several young moving groups spread across the southern sky. We re-assess the putative membership of Epsilon Cha using the best-available proper motion and spectroscopic measurements, including new ANU 2.3-m/WiFeS observations. After applying a kinematic analysis our final membership comprises 35-41 stars from B9 to mid-M spectral types, with a mean distance of 110+/-7 pc and a mean space motion of (U,V,W)=(-10.9+/-0.8,-20.4+/-1.3,-9.9+/-1.4) km/s. Theoretical evolutionary models suggest Epsi…
Low-mass members of young stellar associations exhibit a wide spread of rotation periods. Such a spread originates from distributions of masses and initial rotation periods. However, multiplicity can also play a significant role. We investigate the role played by physical companions in shortening the primordial disc lifetime. We have compiled the most extensive list of low-mass members of the young 25-Myr beta Pictoris association. We have measured the rotation periods of about all members and used updated UVWXYZ components to assess their membership. We built the rotation period distribution …
We report the results of our search of planet candidates in Open Clusters and Young Stellar Associations based on the TESS Objects of Interest Catalog. We find one confirmed planet, one promising candidate, one brown dwarf, and three unverified planet candidates in a sample of 1229 Open Clusters from the second Gaia data release. We discuss individual planet-star systems based on their basic parameters, membership probability, and the observation notes from the ExoFOP-TESS website. We also find ten planet candidates (P $>$ 95%) in Young Stellar Associations by using the BANYAN $Σ$ Bayesian Alg…
The Chandra Carina Complex Project (CCCP) provides a sensitive X-ray survey of a nearby starburst region over >1 square degree in extent. Thousands of faint X-ray sources are found, many concentrated into rich young stellar clusters. However, significant contamination from unrelated Galactic and extragalactic sources is present in the X-ray catalog. We describe the use of a naive Bayes classifier to assign membership probabilities to individual sources, based on source location, X-ray properties, and visual/infrared properties. For the particular membership decision rule adopted, 75% of CCCP s…
We use new data from Gaia DR2 to confirm that the young L1 $γ$ candidate member of the TW Hya association (TWA) is now a bona fide member with a model-dependent mass estimate of ~15 $M_{Jup}$. The ambiguous M9 $γ$ candidate member 2MASS J12474428---3816464 also gets a higher Bayesian membership probability for TWA membership as a result of Gaia DR2 data and a new radial velocity measurement, but it remains unclear whether it is a true member of TWA or if it is an unrelated young interloper, because it is separated by 4.6 km/s from the locus of TWA members in UVW space.
Previous studies of open clusters have shown that lithium depletion is not only strongly age dependent but also shows a complex pattern with other parameters that is not yet understood. For pre- and main-sequence late-type stars, these parameters include metallicity, mixing mechanisms, convection structure, rotation, and magnetic activity. We perform a thorough membership analysis for a large number of stars observed within the Gaia-ESO survey (GES) in the field of 20 open clusters, ranging in age from young clusters and associations, to intermediate-age and old open clusters. Based on the par…

We report the discovery of new Herbig-Haro (HH) jets in the Carina Nebula, and we discuss the protostellar outflow activity of a young OB association. These are the first results of an HST/ACS H-alpha imaging survey of Carina. Adding to the one previously known example (HH666), we detect 21 new HH jets, plus 17 new candidate jets, ranging in length from 0.005 to 3 pc. We derive jet mass-loss rates ranging from 8e-9 to 1e-6 Msun/yr, but a comparison to the distribution of jet mass-loss rates in Orion suggests that we may be missing a large fraction of the jets below 1e-8 Msun/yr. A key qualitat…
We constrain the proper motions of five OB stars associated with candidate stellar wind bow shocks in the Carina Nebula using HST ACS imaging over 9--10 year baselines. These proper motions allow us to directly compare each star's motion to the orientation of its candidate bow shock. Although these stars are saturated in our imaging, we assess their motion by the shifts required to minimize residuals in their Airy rings. The results limit the direction of each star's motion to sectors less than 90 degrees wide. None of the five stars are moving away from the Carina Nebula's central clusters as…
We study the populations of massive stars in the Carina region and their energetic feedback and ejection of $^{26}$Al. We did a census of the stellar populations in young stellar clusters within a few degrees of the Carina Nebula. For each star we estimated the mass, based on the spectral type and the host cluster age. We used population synthesis to calculate the energetic feedback and ejection of $^{26}$Al from the winds of the massive stars and their supernova explosions. We used 7 years of INTEGRAL observations to measure the $^{26}$Al signal from the region. The INTEGRAL $^{26}$Al signal …
The Carina Nebula harbors a large population of high-mass stars, including at least 75 O-type and Wolf-Rayet stars, but the current census is not complete since further high-mass stars may be hidden in or behind the dense dark clouds that pervade the association. With the aim of identifying optically obscured O- and early B-type stars in the Carina Nebula, we performed the first infrared spectroscopic study of stars in the optically obscured stellar cluster Tr 16-SE, located behind a dark dust lane south of eta Car. We used the integral-field spectrograph KMOS at the ESO VLT to obtain H- and K…
To improve the census of the Upper Sco association (~11 Myr, ~145 pc), we have identified candidate members using parallaxes, proper motions, and color-magnitude diagrams from several wide-field imaging surveys and have obtained optical and infrared spectra of several hundred candidates to measure their spectral types and assess their membership. We also have performed spectroscopy on a smaller sample of previously known or suspected members to refine their spectral types and evidence of membership. We have classified 530 targets as members of Upper Sco, 377 of which lack previous spectroscopy…
Using offset-corrected Gaia-EDR3 parallax measurements and spectrophotometric methods, we have determined distances for 69 massive stars in the Carina OB1 association and associated clusters: Trumpler 16 (21 stars), Trumpler 14 (20 stars), Trumpler 15 (3 stars), Bochum 11 (5 stars), and South Pillars region (20 stars). Past distance estimates to the Carina Nebula range from 2.2 to 3.6 kpc, with uncertainties arising from photometry and anomalous dust extinction. The EDR3 parallax solutions show considerable improvement over DR2, with typical errors $σ_{\varpi}/\varpi \approx$~3-5%. The O-type …
WISEA J080822.18-644357.3, an M star in the Carina association, exhibits extreme infrared excess and accretion activity at an age greater than the expected accretion disk lifetime. We consider J0808 as the prototypical example of a class of M star accretion disks at ages $\gtrsim 20$ Myr, which we call ``Peter Pan'' disks, since they apparently refuse to grow up. We present four new Peter Pan disk candidates identified via the Disk Detective citizen science project, coupled with \textit{Gaia} astrometry. We find that WISEA J044634.16-262756.1 and WISEA J094900.65-713803.1 both exhibit signific…
Nearby young moving groups provide unique samples of similar age stars for testing the evolution of physical properties. Incomplete and/or incorrect group membership classifications reduce the usefulness of the group, which we assume to be coeval. With near-infrared spectra of two candidate members of the TW Hya Association, 2MASS J12354615$-$4115531 (TWA 46) and 2MASS J12371238$-$4021480 (TWA 47), we test their membership by adding radial velocity measurements to the literature. We find that 2MASS J12354615$-$4115531 is a close spectroscopic binary system with a center-of-mass radial velocity…
We present new radial velocity (RV) measurements for 11 candidate young very-low-mass stars and brown dwarfs, with spectral types from M7 to L7. Candidate young objects were identified by features indicative of low surface gravity in their optical and/or near-infrared spectra. RV measurements are derived from high resolution (R=$λ$/$Δλ$=20,000) $J$ band spectra taken with NIRSPEC at the Keck Observatory. We combine RVs with proper motions and trigonometric distances to calculate three-dimensional space positions and motions and to evaluate membership probabilities for nearby young moving group…
We report the serendipitous discovery of several young mid-M stars found during a search for new members of the 30-40 Myr-old Octans Association. Only one of the stars may be considered a possible Octans(-Near) member. However, two stars have proper motions, kinematic distances, radial velocities, photometry and Li I 6708AA measurements consistent with membership in the 8-10 Myr-old TW Hydrae Association. Another may be an outlying member of TW Hydrae but has a velocity similar to that predicted by membership in Octans. We also identify two new lithium-rich members of the neighbouring Scorpius…
We present WISEA J114724.10$-$204021.3, a young, low-mass, high probability member of the TW Hya association. WISEA J114724.10$-$204021.3 was discovered based on its red AllWISE color (W1$-$W2 = 0.63 mag) and extremely red 2MASS $J-K_{\rm S}$ color ($>$ 2.64 mag), the latter of which is confirmed with near-infrared photometry from the VISTA Hemisphere Survey ($J-K_{\rm S}$ = 2.57$\pm$0.03). Follow-up near-infrared spectroscopy shows a spectral type of L7 $\pm$ 1 as well as several spectroscopic indicators of youth. These include a peaked $H$-band shape and a steeper $K$-band slope, traits typi…
Most massive stars belong to multiple systems, yet the formation process leading to such high multiplicity remains insufficiently understood. To help constrain the different formation scenarios that exist, insights on the low-mass end of the companion mass function of such stars is crucial. However, this is a challenging endeavour as (sub-)solar mass companions at angular separations ($ρ$) below 1" (corresponding to 1000-3000 au in nearby young open clusters and OB associations) are difficult to detect due to the large brightness contrast with the central star. With the Carina High-contrast Im…
Based on high-resolution spectra obtained with PHOENIX at Gemini-South, CRIRES at VLT-UT1, and ESPaDOnS at CFHT, we present new measurements of the radial and projected rotational velocities of 219 low-mass stars. The target likely membership was initially established using the Bayesian analysis tool recently presented in \citet{2013malo}, taking into account only the position, proper motion and photometry of the stars to assess their membership probability. In the present study, we include radial velocity as an additional input to our analysis, and in doing so we confirm the high membership p…
The precise parallax, proper motion, and photometric measurements contained in Gaia Data Release 2 (DR2) offer the opportunity to re-examine the membership and ages of Nearby Young Moving Groups (NYMGs), i.e., loose groups of stars of age $\lesssim100$ Myr in the solar vicinity. Here, we analyze the available DR2 data for members and candidate members of the $ε$ Cha Association ($ε$CA) which, at an estimated age of $\sim$3--5 Myr, has previously been identified as among the youngest NYMGs. The several dozen confirmed members of $ε$CA include MP Mus and T Cha, two of the nearest stars of roughl…
WISE J080822.18$-$644357.3 was recently identified as a new M dwarf debris disc system and a candidate member of the 45 Myr-old Carina association. Given that the strength of its infrared excess ($L_{\rm IR}/L_{\rm \star}\simeq 0.1$) appears to be more consistent with a young protoplanetary disc, we present the first optical spectra of the star and reassess its evolutionary and membership status. We find WISE J0808-6443 to be a Li-rich M5 star with strong H$α$ emission ($-125 < \textrm{EW} < -65$ Å over 4 epochs) whose strength and broad width are consistent with accretion at a low level ($\si…
Massive OB stars are critical to the ecology of galaxies, and yet our knowledge of OB stars in the Milky Way, fainter than $V \sim 12$, remains patchy. Data from the VST Photometric H$α$ Survey (VPHAS+) permit the construction of the first deep catalogues of blue excess-selected OB stars, without neglecting the stellar field. A total of 14900 candidates with 2MASS cross-matches are blue-selected from a 42 square-degree region in the Galactic Plane, capturing the Carina Arm over the Galactic longitude range $282^{\circ} \lesssim \ell \lesssim 293^{\circ}$. Spectral energy distribution fitting i…
HD 61005 is a nearby young solar type star that shows a large infrared excess due to a debris disk. The disk has been recently imaged from ground and space, with indications of several components. Some characteristics of the disk suggest the presence of planetary companions around the star, that remain undetected in deep adaptive optics imaging. For a better understanding of the system we aim to refine the determination of the stellar parameters, with emphasis on the stellar age and system orientation. We used ASAS and Hipparcos photometry and FEROS spectra to determine the rotation period, ra…
We seek to update the spectroscopy binary fraction of the SACY (Search for Associations Containing Young stars) sample taking in consideration all possible biases in our identification of binary candidates, such as activity and rotation. Using high-resolution spectroscopic observations we have produced $\sim$1300 cross-correlation functions (CCFs) to disentangle the previously mentioned sources of contamination. The radial velocity values obtained were cross-matched with the literature and were used to revise and update the spectroscopic binary (SB) fraction in each of the SACY association. In…
We present the results of a density-based clustering analysis of the 6-dimensional XYZ Galactic positions and UVW space velocities of nearby ($\leq$ 200 pc) Gaia EDR3 stars with radial velocities using HDBSCAN, in opposition to previous studies that only included positions and tangential velocities. Among the 241 recovered clusters, we identify more than 50 known associations, 32 new candidate stellar streams aged 100 Myr-3 Gyr, 9 extensions of known Theia groups uncovered by Kounkel & Covey (2019), and 8 newly recognized coronae around nearby open clusters. Three confirmed exoplanet-hosting s…
We present a detailed study of the kinematics of M dwarfs in the CARMENES (Calar Alto high-Resolution search for M dwarfs with Exoearths with Near-infrared and optical Echelle Spectrographs) input catalog. We have selected all M dwarfs with known parallactic distance or a good photometric distance estimation, precise proper motion in the literature or as determined by us, and radial velocity measurements. Using these parameters, we computed the M dwarfs galactic space motions (U, V, W). For the stars with U and V velocity components inside or near the boundaries that determine the young disk p…
