We study one-dimensional excited random walks with non-nearest neighbor jumps. When the process is at a vertex that has not been visited before, its next transition has a positive drift to the right, possibly with long jumps. Whenever the process visits a vertex that has already been visited in the past, its next transition is the one of a simple symmetric random walk. We give a sufficient condition for the process to have positive speed.
We consider the model of the one-dimensional cookie random walk when the initial cookie distribution is spatially uniform and the number of cookies per site is finite. We give a criterion to decide whether the limiting speed of the walk is non-zero. In particular, we show that a positive speed may be obtained for just 3 cookies per site. We also prove a result on the continuity of the speed with respect to the initial cookie distribution.

We consider a class of self-interacting random walks in deterministic or random environments, known as excited random walks or cookie walks, on the d-dimensional integer lattice. The main purpose of this paper is two-fold: to give a survey of known results and some of the methods and to present several new results. The latter include functional limit theorems for transient one-dimensional excited random walks in bounded i.i.d. cookie environments as well as some zero-one laws. Several open problems are stated.

We introduce a method for studying monotonicity of the speed of excited random walks in high dimensions, based on a formula for the speed obtained via cut-times and Girsanov's transform. While the method gives rise to similar results as have been or can be obtained via the expansion method of van der Hofstad and Holmes, it may be more palatable to a general probabilistic audience. We also revisit the law of large numbers for stationary cookie environments. In particular, we introduce a new notion of $e_1-$exchangeable cookie environment and prove the law of large numbers for this case.

This example confirms that a result of Mountford, Pimentel and Valle (2006), which gives a sufficient condition for excited random walks in deterministic environment to have positive speed, can not be extended to ergodic random environment.

We study nearest neighbor random walks on fixed environments of $\mathbb{Z}$ composed of two point types : $(1/2,1/2)$ and $(p,1-p)$ for $p>1/2$. We study the speed of a biased random walk on a percolation cluster on $\Z^d$ in function of the percolation parameter $p$. We obtain a first order expansion of the speed at $p=1$ which proves that percolating slows down the random walk at least in the case where the drift is along a component of the lattice.

We prove a quenched functional central limit theorem for a one-dimensional random walk driven by a simple symmetric exclusion process. This model can be viewed as a special case of the random walk in a balanced random environment, for which the weak quenched limit is constructed as a function of the invariant measure of the environment viewed from the walk.
