We perform a complete study of the low-energy phenomenology of $S_1$ and $S_3$ lepto-quarks, aimed at addressing the observed deviations in $B$-meson decays and the muon magnetic dipole moment. Leptoquark contributions to observables are computed at one-loop accuracy in an effective field theory approach, using the recently published complete one-loop matching of these leptoquarks to the Standard Model effective field theory. We present several scenarios, discussing in each case the preferred parameter space and the most relevant observables.
We study the phenomenology of a particular leptoquark extension of the Standard Model (SM), namely the doublet-singlet scalar leptoquark extension of the SM (DSL-SM). Besides generating Majorana mass for neutrinos, these leptoquarks contribute to muon and electron $(g-2)$ and various lepton flavour violating processes. Collider signatures of the benchmark points (BPs), consistent with the neutrino oscillation data, anomalous muon/electron magnetic moments, experimental bounds on the charged lepton flavour violation observables, etc., are studied at the LHC/FCC with centre-of-mass energies of 1…
We study the phenomenology of electric dipole moments (EDMs) induced in various scalar leptoquark models. We consider generic leptoquark couplings to quarks and leptons and match to Standard Model effective field theory. After evolving the resulting operators to low energies, we connect to EDM experiments by using up-to-date hadronic, nuclear, and atomic matrix elements. We show that current experimental limits set strong constraints on the possible CP-violating phases in leptoquark models. Depending on the quarks and leptons involved in the interaction, the existing searches for EDMs of lepto…
We demonstrate that in a recently proposed unified leptoquark model based on the gauge group $SU(4)_C\times SU(2)_L \times U(1)_R$ significant deviations from the Standard Model values of $R_K$ and $R_{K^*}$ can be accommodated without any need of extra heavy fermions. Low energy data, in particular lepton flavour violating $μ$ decays and $K_L\to e μ$, severely constrain the available parameter space. We show that in the allowed part of the parameter space (i) some of the lepton-flavour-violating tau decay branching ratios are predicted to be close to their current experimental limits. (ii) Th…
We examine new aspects of leptoquark (LQ) phenomenology using effective field theory (EFT). We construct a complete set of leading effective operators involving SU(2) singlets scalar LQ and the SM fields up to dimension six. We show that, while the renormalizable LQ-lepton-quark interaction Lagrangian can address the persistent hints for physics beyond the Standard Model in the B-decays $\bar B \to D^{(*)} τ\barν$, $\bar B \to \bar K \ell^+ \ell^-$ and in the measured anomalous magnetic moment of the muon, the LQ higher dimensional effective operators may lead to new interesting effects associ…
During the past few years, hints of Lepton Flavour Universality (LFU) violation have been observed in $b \to c τ\barν$ and $b \to s \ell^+ \ell^-$ transitions. Recently, the $D^*$ and $τ$ polarization fractions $P_L^{D^*}$ and $P_L^τ$ in $B \to D^* τ\barν$ decay have also been measured by the Belle collaboration. Motivated by these intriguing results, we revisit the $R_{D^{(*)}}$ and $R_{K^{(*)}}$ anomalies in a scalar leptoquark (LQ) model, in which two scalar LQs, one being $SU(2)_L$ singlet and the other $SU(2)_L$ triplet, are introduced simultaneously. We consider five $b \to c τ\barν$ med…
We discuss a new class of neutrino mass models generated in two loops, and explore specifically three new physics scenarios: (A) doubly charged scalar, (B) dark matter, and (C) leptoquark and diquark, which are verifiable at the 14 TeV LHC Run-II. We point out how the different Higgs insertions will distinguish our two-loop topology with others if the new particles in the loop are in the simplest representations of the SM gauge group.
The deviations of $B$-meson decays measured in $R_{D^{(*)}}^{τ\ell}$ and $R_{K^{(*)}}^{μe}$ can be explained by the presence of two scalar leptoquarks, a singlet $S_1$ and a triplet $S_3$, mostly coupled to the third generation. We consider a theory of resonances, as an effective description of a strongly interacting theory, that generates the leptoquarks and the Higgs as Nambu-Goldstone bosons, with the rest of the resonances at a scale of order $10-30\ {\rm TeV}$. We assume anarchic partial compositeness for the flavor of the SM fermions. Under these hypothesis we study whether it is possibl…
We investigate the standard model (SM) with the extension of a charged scalar having fractional electromagnetic charge of $-1/3$ unit and with lepton and baryon number violating couplings at tree level. Without directly taking part in the electro-weak (EW) symmetry breaking, this scalar can affect stability of the EW vacuum via loop effects. The impact of such a scalar, i.e., a leptoquark on the perturbativity of SM dimensionless couplings as well as on new physics couplings has been studied at two-loop order. The vacuum stability of the Higgs potential is checked using one-loop renormalizatio…
We study the impact of triple-leptoquark interactions on matter stability for two specific proton decay topologies that arise at the tree- and one-loop level if and when they coexist. We demonstrate that the one-loop level topology is much more relevant than the tree-level one when it comes to the proton decay signatures despite the usual loop-suppression factor. We subsequently present detailed analysis of the triple-leptoquark interaction effects on the proton stability within one representative scenario to support our claim, where the scenario in question simultaneously features a tree-leve…
We propose a three-loop neutrino mass model with a few leptoquark scalars in $SU(2)_L$-triplet form, through which we can explain the anomaly of $B \to K^{(*)} μ^+ μ^-$, a sizable muon $g-2$ and a bosonic dark matter candidate, and at the same time satisfying all the constraints from lepton flavor violations. We perform global numerical analyses and show the allowed regions, in which we find somewhat restricted parameter space, such as the mass of dark matter candidate and various components of the Yukawa couplings in the model.
In recent years, experiments revealed intriguing hints for new physics (NP) in semi-leptonic $B$ decays. Both in charged current processes, involving $b \to c τν$ transitions, and in the neutral currents $b\to s\ell^+\ell^-$, a preference for NP compared to the standard model (SM) of more that $3σ$ and $5σ$ was found, respectively. In addition, there is the long-standing tension between the theory prediction and the measurement of the anomalous magnetic moment (AMM) of the muon ($a_μ$) of more than $3σ$. Since all these observables are related to the violation of lepton flavor universality (LF…
We put forward the framework of simplified leptoquark models: simple extensions of the Standard Model that serve as benchmarks to test the interactions of leptons with new colored degrees of freedom considered, for instance, in leptoquark or grand unification models. As a first application of the scheme, we analyze the power of precision lepton observables by computing gauge invariant two-loop radiative corrections to the lepton-photon vertex, generated here by Yukawa interactions between the lepton and new colored degrees of freedom. The result, detailed in explicit expressions for the involv…
We present a comprehensive analysis of low-energy signals of hypothetical scalar leptoquark interactions in lepton and kaon transitions. We derive the most general effective four-fermion Lagrangian induced by tree-level scalar leptoquark exchange and identify the Wilson coefficients predicted by the five possible types of scalar leptoquarks. The current constraints on the leptoquark Yukawa couplings arising from lepton and kaon processes are worked out, including also loop-induced transitions with only leptons (or quarks) as external states. In the presence of scalar leptoquark interactions, w…
We investigate the constraints on the leptoquark Yukawa couplings and Higgs-leptoquark quartic couplings for scalar doublet leptoquark $\tilde{R}_2$, scalar triplet leptoquark $\vec S_3$ and their combination with both three generations and one generation from perturbative unitarity and vacuum stability. Perturbative unitarity of all the dimensionless couplings have been studied via one- and two-loop beta-functions. Introduction of new $SU(2)$ multiplets in terms of these leptoquarks fabricate Landau poles at two-loop level in the gauge coupling $g_2$ at $10^{19.7}$ GeV and $10^{14.4}$ GeV, re…
If the leptoquarks proposed to account for the intriguing anomalies observed in the $B$-meson decays, $R_{D^{(\ast)}}$ and $R_{K^{(\ast)}}$, as well as in the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon, $(g-2)_μ$, can be embedded into the scotogenic Dirac neutrino model, all these flavor anomalies, together with the origin of neutrino masses and the nature of dark matter, would be potentially addressed in a unified picture. Among the minimal seesaw, one-loop, and two-loop realizations of the dimension-4 effective operator $\mathcal{L}_{4}$ for the Dirac neutrino masses, we show that plenty of diagr…
In this paper we present the complete one-loop matching conditions, up to dimension-six operators of the Standard Model effective field theory, resulting by integrating out the two scalar leptoquarks $S_{1}$ and $S_{3}$. This allows a phenomenological study of low-energy constraints on this model at one-loop accuracy, which will be the focus of a subsequent work. Furthermore, it provides a rich comparison for functional and computational methods for one-loop matching, that are being developed. As a corollary result, we derive a complete set of dimension-six operators independent under integrat…
We analyze the implications of CP-violating scalar leptoquark (LQ) interactions for experimental probes of parity- and time-reversal violating properties of polar molecules. These systems are predominantly sensitive to the electric dipole moment (EDM) of the electron and nuclear-spin-independent (NSID) electron-nucleon interaction. The LQ model can generate both a tree-level NSID interaction as well as the electron EDM at one-loop order. Including both interactions, we find that the NSID interaction can dominate the molecular response. For moderate values of couplings, the current experimental…

In recent years experiments revealed intriguing hints for new physics (NP) in $B$ decays involving \bctaunu and $b\to s\ell^+\ell^-$ transitions at the $4\,σ$ and $5\,σ$ level, respectively. In addition, there are slight disagreements in $b\to u τν$ and $b\to dμ^+μ^-$ observables. While not significant on their own, they point in the same direction. Furthermore, $V_{us}$ extracted from $τ$ decays shows a slight tension ($\approx2.5\,σ$) with its value determined from CKM unitarity. Additionally, BELLE found hints for an excess in $B_d\toτ^+τ^-$. Concerning NP explanations, the vector leptoquar…
We study contributions of single scalar or vector leptoquark (LQ) to loop-induced Higgs processes, gluon fusion production ($g g \to h$) and $h \to γγ$ decay, by analyzing the current Higgs data from the LHC Run I and II. Scalar LQ is studied in a model independent way, while the vector LQ $U_1(\mathbf{3},\mathbf{1},2/3)$ is discussed in the '4321' model. Constraints on the interactions of LQ and Higgs boson are obtained. We provide a method to determine vacuum expectation values $\upsilon_3$ and $\upsilon_1$ of the new scalar fields $Ω_3$ and $Ω_1$ in the '4321' model via the combination of H…
The observed muon anomalous magnetic moment deviates from the Standard Model predictions. There are two scalar leptoquarks with simultaneous couplings to the quark-muon pairs of both chiralities that can singly explain this discrepancy. We discuss an alternative mechanism that calls for the mixing of two scalar leptoquarks of the same electric charge through the interaction with the Higgs field, where the two leptoquarks separately couple to the quark-muon pairs of opposite chirality structures. Three scenarios that satisfy this requirement are $S_1\,\&\, {S}_3$, $\widetilde{S}_1\,\&\, S_3$, a…
We investigate scenarios with $\mathcal{O}(1\mathrm{\,TeV})$ scalar leptoquarks that act as portals between the Standard Model and Dark Matter. We assume that Dark Matter is a scalar singlet $S$ which couples to a scalar leptoquark $Δ$ and the Higgs boson via the terms in the scalar potential. In addition, the leptoquark is endowed with Yukawa couplings to quarks and leptons that may address the anomalies in $B$ meson decays. We consider the $SS$ annihilation cross sections to estimate the Dark Matter relic abundance and explore the interplay between astrophysical, collider and flavour physics…

We investigate the phenomenology of light GeV-scale fermionic dark matter in $U(1)_{L_μ- L_τ}$ gauge extension of the Standard Model. Heavy neutral fermions alongside with a $S_1(\overline{3}$,$1$,$1/3$) scalar leptoquark and an inert scalar doublet are added to address the flavor anomalies and light neutrino mass respectively. The light gauge boson associated with $U(1)_{L_μ-L_τ}$ gauge group mediates dark to visible sector and helps to obtain the correct relic density. Aided with a colored scalar, we constrain the new model parameters by using the branching ratios of various $b \to sll$ and …
Leptoquarks provide viable solutions to the flavour anomalies, i.e. they can explain the tensions between the measurements and the Standard Model predictions of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon as well as $b\to s\ell^+\ell^-$ and $b\to cτν$ processes. However, leptoquarks also contribute to other flavour observables, such as $ΔF=2$ processes, at the loop-level. In particular, $B_s-\bar B_s$ mixing provides a crucial bound in setups addressing $b\to cτν$ data, often excluding a big portion of the parameter space that could otherwise account for it. In this article, we first derive the …
We study the effect of scalar leptoquarks in the lepton flavour violating $B$ meson decays induced by the flavour changing transitions $b \to q l_i^+ l_j^-$ with $q=s,d$. In the standard model these transitions are extremely rare as they are either two-loop suppressed or proceed via box diagrams with tiny neutrino masses in the loop. However, in the leptoquark model they can occur at tree level and are expected to have significantly large branching ratios. The leptoquark parameter space is constrained using the experimental limits on the branching ratios of $B_q \rightarrow l^+ l^-$ processes.…
We study lepton flavor violating meson decays induced by box diagrams involving a vector leptoquark (LQ) and scalar fields in Pati-Salam (PS) unification with vector-like families. The vector LQ corresponds to the massive gauge boson associated with the PS gauge symmetry breaking and the scalar fields are the physical degrees of freedom of the PS breaking field. The LQ generally causes the rapid flavor violating decays, such as $K_L \to μe$, at the tree-level unless its mass scale is higher than PeV scale. The vector-like families are introduced to suppress the tree-level contributions mediate…
Leptoquarks are hypothetical new particles, which couple quarks directly to leptons. They experienced a renaissance in recent years as they are prime candidates to explain the so-called \textit{flavor anomalies}, i.e. the deviations between the Standard Model predictions and measurements in $b\to s\ell^{+}\ell^{-}$ and $b\to cτν$ processes and in the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon. At the one-loop level these particles unavoidably generate effects in the purely leptonic processes like $Z\to\ell^{+}\ell^{-}$, $Z\toν\barν$, $W\to\ellν$ and $h\to\ell^{+}\ell^{-}$ and can even generate non-…
In this study we present a universal effective action for one-loop matching of all scalar leptoquarks. We use both the Universal One-Loop Effective Action (UOLEA) and covariant diagrams to evaluate the Wilson coefficients directly in the Green basis for up-to dimension-6 operators. On the technical side, we use the newly developed method of evaluating supertraces, to further validate the results stemming from the use of covariant diagrams. As an application, we perform a fully functional matching onto Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT) of a model with two scalar leptoquark fields: a…
We entertain the option of scalar leptoquarks to explain the anomalies in the semi-leptonic decays of $B$-mesons and the discrepancies in the lepton $(g-2)_l$'s including the recent results at Fermilab E989. The $R_{K^{(*)}}$ and $R_{D^{(*)}}$ anomalies can be accommodated by the specific couplings for triplet and singlet leptoquarks, respectively, subject to the bounds from $B\to Kν{\barν}$. We discuss the correlation between the leptonic signatures from leptoquarks such as $μ\to eγ$ and the electric dipole moment of electron and show that desirable neutrino masses can be generated dominantly…
Models with massive vector leptoquarks, resulting from an $SU(4)$ gauge symmetry spontaneously broken at the TeV scale, are of great phenomenological interest given the current "anomalies" in semileptonic $B$ decays. We analyze the relations between low- and high-energy observables in such class of models to next-to-leading order accuracy in the $SU(4)$ gauge coupling $g_4$. For large values of $g_4$, motivated by recent $B$-physics data, one-loop corrections are sizeable. The main effect is an enhanced contribution at low-energy, at fixed on-shell couplings. This result has important implicat…
We study the two scalar leptoquarks capable of generating chirally-enhanced, sign-dependent contributions to lepton magnetic dipole moments (MDMs) and electric dipole moments (EDMs), $R_2\sim (\mathbf{3}, \mathbf{2}, 7/6)$ and $S_1\sim (\mathbf{3}, \mathbf{1}, -1/3)$. We consider the case in which the electron and muon sectors are decoupled, and leptoquark couplings are assigned complex values. Adopting the coupling ansatz that the electron dipole operator is generated by charm-containing loops, and muon dipole operator by top-containing loops, we find that both minimal leptoquark models remai…
We demonstrate viability of the one-loop neutrino mass mechanism within the framework of grand unification when the loop particles comprise scalar leptoquarks (LQs) and quarks of the matching electric charge. This mechanism can be implemented in both supersymmetric and non-supersymmetric models and requires the presence of at least one LQ pair. The appropriate pairs for the neutrino mass generation via the up-type and down-type quark loops are $S_3$-$R_2$ and $S_{1,\,3}$-$\tilde{R}_2$, respectively. We consider two phenomenologically distinct regimes for the LQ masses in our analysis. First re…
The evaluation of one-loop matrix elements is one of the main bottlenecks in precision calculations for the high-luminosity phase of the Large Hadron Collider. To alleviate this problem, a new C++ interface to the MCFM parton-level Monte Carlo is introduced, giving access to an extensive library of analytic results for one-loop amplitudes. Timing comparisons are presented for a large set of Standard Model processes. These are relevant for high-statistics event simulation in the context of experimental analyses and precision fixed-order computations.
The neutrino magnetic dipole moment is studied in a simple extension of the SM augmented with a scalar Leptoquark with quantum numbers $(\bar{\boldsymbol{3}},\boldsymbol{1},1/3)$. In order to reach a sizeable neutrino magnetic moment, we include in the framework the contribution of right-handed neutrinos and analytical result for the one-loop contribution of a scalar LQ is presented. The allowed parameter space is found through recent restrictions on the muon $(g-2)$, the $τ\to μγ$ and the $B_c \to τ^- \bar ν$ decay. It is shown that exist a region of the parameter space where the recent anoma…
We identify the two scalar leptoquarks capable of generating sign-dependent contributions to leptonic magnetic moments, $R_2\sim (\mathbf{3}, \mathbf{2}, 7/6)$ and $S_1\sim (\mathbf{3}, \mathbf{1}, -1/3)$, as favoured by current measurements. We consider the case in which the electron and muon sectors are decoupled, and real-valued Yukawa couplings are specified using an up-type quark mass-diagonal basis. Contributions to $Δa_e$ arise from charm-containing loops and $Δa_μ$ from top-containing loops -- hence avoiding dangerous LFV constraints, particularly from $μ\to e γ$. The strongest constra…
Leptoquarks have been proposed as a possible explanation of anomalies in $\bar{B}\mapsto D^{*} τ\bar{ν} $ decays, the apparent anomalies in $(g-2)_μ$ experiments and a violation of lepton universality. Motivated by this, we examine other motivations of leptoquarks: radiatively induced neutrino masses in the presence of a discrete symmetry that prevents a tree level see-saw mechanism, gauge coupling unification, and vacuum stability at least up to the unification scale. We present a new model for radiatively generating a neutrino mass which can significantly improve gauge coupling unification a…
We show that a modification of the model with a low energy scalar leptoquark state carrying hypercharge $Y=7/6$ allows to accommodate both $R_K<1$ and $R_{K^\ast}<1$, through loop effects, consistent with recent observations made at LHCb. We describe details of the model, compute the relevant Wilson coefficient and, after discussing a number of constraints, we examine the phenomenological consequences of the model. The bounds on the lepton flavor violating decay rates, induced by this model, include $\mathcal{B}(Z\toμτ) \lesssim \mathcal{O}(10^{-7})$, and $\mathcal{B}(B\to Kμτ) \lesssim \mathc…
We investigate all potentially viable scenarios that can produce the chiral enhancement required to simultaneously explain the $(g-2)_{e}$ and $(g-2)_μ$ data with either a single scalar leptoquark or a pair of scalar leptoquarks. We provide classification of these scenarios in terms of their ability to satisfy the existing limits on the branching ratio for the $μ\to e γ$ process. The simultaneous explanation of the $(g-2)_{e,μ}$ discrepancies, coupled with the current experimental data, implies that the $(g-2)_e$ loops are exclusively due to the charm quark propagation whereas the $(g-2)_μ$ lo…
