With the advent of relativistic mechanics, the Lorentz transformation replaced the Galilean transformation based on classical Newtonian mechanics among inertial frames at high uniform velocities, but both transformations are based on Cartesian coordinate system, hence position of particles obtaining linear velocities in space can be obtained. In case where frames are rotating with constant angular velocity, use of Galilean rotational transformation (GRT) is replaced by Franklin transformation, proposed by Philip Franklin in 1922. The modified transformation introduced the concept of rotational motion of points in a rigid body. Both the transformations are based on cylindrical coordinate system. Here we moved a step further for making a relativistic transformation using spherical coordinate system for understanding the behaviour of rotating frames along any axis in the space passing through the center of mass of a symmetrical object (Sphere). We finally came to an understanding about how Special Theory of relativity is found to be applicable in rotational motion using different co-ordinate system.
General-relativistic perturbation equations for the dynamics of elastic deformable astronomical bodies expanded in terms of generalized spherical harmonics
We investigate insterstellar gas spheres by determining the metric functions, the material distribution, and the features of particle orbits in terms of stability and geodesics. An exact solution of the Einstein's equations for interstellar gas clouds is derived that is compatible with the results of recent astronomical measurements. The solution determines the distribution of pressure and density, and it is suitable to describe the energy, speed, trajectory, and further relevant physical features of the cloud's particles. We describe the spacetime inside the nebula and give the density profil…
We consider thin spherical shells of matter in both Newtonian gravity and general relativity, and examine their equilibrium configurations and dynamical stability. Thin-shell models are admittedly a poor substitute for realistic stellar models. But the simplicity of the equations that govern their dynamics, compared with the much more complicated mechanics of a self-gravitating fluid, allows us to deliver, in a very direct and easy manner, powerful insights regarding their equilibria and stability. We explore, in particular, the link between the existence of a maximum mass along a sequence of …
By starting with a seed Newtonian potential-density pair we construct relativistic thick spherical shell models for a Majumdar-Papapetrou type conformastatic spacetime. As a simple example, we consider a family of Plummer-Hernquist type relativistic spherical shells. As a second application, these structures are then used to model a system composite by a dust disk and a halo of matter. We study the equatorial circular motion of test particles around such configurations. Also the stability of the orbits is analyzed for radial perturbation using an extension of the Rayleigh criterion. The models…
This article presents some aspects and experience in the use of algebraic manipulation software applied to general relativity. Some years ago certain results were reported using computer algebra platforms, but the growing popularity of graphical platforms such as Maple allows us to approach the problem of the simplifications of many expressions from another point of view. Some simple algebraic programming procedures are presented (in Maple with the GrTensorIII package) to obtain and study material distributions with spherical symmetry and to search for exact solutions of the Einstein field equ…
In previous work, we derived the most general solution of the collisionless Boltzmann equation describing the accretion of a kinetic gas into a Schwarzschild black hole background, and we gave explicit expressions for the corresponding observables (the current density and stress energy-momentum tensor) in terms of certain integrals over the distribution function. In this article, we numerically compute these integrals for the particular case of the steady-state, spherical symmetric accretion flows which, at infinity, are described by an equilibrium distribution function of given temperature. W…
We construct a self-consistent relativistic Newtonian analogue corresponding to gravitational static spherical symmetric spacetime geometries, staring directly from a generalized scalar relativistic gravitational action in Newtonian framework, which gives geodesic equations of motion identical to those of the parent metric. Consequently, the derived velocity-dependent relativistic scalar potential, which is a relativistic generalization of Newtonian gravitational potential, exactly reproduces the relativistic gravitational features corresponding to any static spherical symmetric spacetime geom…
We present SphericalNR, a new framework for the publicly available Einstein Toolkit that numerically solves the Einstein field equations coupled to the equations of general relativistic magnetohydrodynamics (GRMHD) in a 3+1 split of spacetime in spherical coordinates without symmetry assumptions. The spacetime evolution is performed using reference-metric versions of either the Baumgarte-Shapiro-Shibata-Nakamura equations or the fully covariant and conformal Z4 system with constraint damping. We have developed a reference-metric version of the Valencia formulation of GRMHD with a vector potent…
We consider a further extension of our previous works in the treatment of the three-dimensional general relativistic Poynting-Robertson effect, which describes the motion of a test particle around a compact object as affected by the radiation field originating from a rigidly rotating and spherical emitting source, which produces a radiation pressure, opposite to the gravitational pull, and a radiation drag force, which removes energy and angular momentum from the test particle. The gravitational source is modeled as a non-spherical and slowly rotating compact object endowed with a mass quadrup…
We investigate the three-dimensional motion of a test particle in the gravitational field generated by a non-spherical compact object endowed with a mass quadrupole moment, described by the Erez-Rosen metric, and a radiation field, including the general relativistic Poynting-Robertson effect, coming from a rigidly rotating spherical emitting source located outside of the compact object. We derive the equations of motion for test particles influenced by such radiation field, recovering the two-dimensional description, and the weak-field approximation. This dynamical system admits the existence …
Ameliorating the Courant-Friedrichs-Lewy condition in spherical coordinates: A double FFT filter method for general relativistic MHD in dynamical spacetimes
Some intrinsic tools from the formal theory of variational equations are being demonstrated at work in application to one concrete example of the third-order evolution equation of free relativistic top in three-dimensional space-time. The main goal is to introduce a combined approach consisting in the simultaneous utilization of symmetry principles along with the inverse variational problem considerations in terms of vector-valued differential forms. Next, some simple algorithm of transition between the autonomous variational problem and the variational problem in parametric form is establishe…
We study the development of caustics in shift-symmetric scalar field theories by focusing on simple waves with an $SO(p)$-symmetry in an arbitrary number of space dimensions. We show that the pure Galileon, the DBI-Galileon, and the extreme-relativistic Galileon naturally emerge as the unique set of caustic-free theories, highlighting a link between the caustic-free condition for simple $SO(p)$-waves and the existence of either a global Galilean symmetry or a global (extreme-)relativistic Galilean symmetry.
