In this paper, we introduce a generalization of corona of graphs. This construction generalizes the generalized corona of graphs (consequently, the corona of graphs), the cluster of graphs, the corona-vertex subdivision graph of graphs and the corona-edge subdivision graph of graphs. Further, it enables to get some more variants of corona of graphs as its particular cases. To determine the spectra of the adjacency, Laplacian and the signless Laplacian matrices of the above mentioned graphs, we define a notion namely, the coronal of a matrix constrained by an index set, which generalizes the coronal of a graph matrix. Then we prove several results pertain to the determination of this value. Then we determine the characteristic polynomials of the adjacency and the Laplacian matrices of this graph in terms of the characteristic polynomials of the adjacency and the Laplacian matrices of the constituent graphs and the coronal of some matrices related to the constituent graphs. Using these, we derive the characteristic polynomials of the adjacency and the Laplacian matrices of the above mentioned existing variants of corona of graphs, and some more variants of corona of graphs with some special constraints.
The subdivision graph $S(G)$ of a graph $G$ is the graph obtained by inserting a new vertex into every edge of $G$. In $\cite{PL}$, two classes of new corona graphs, the corona-vertex of the subdivision graph $G_{1}\diamondsuit G_{2}$ and corona-edge of the subdivision graph $G_{1}\star G_{2}$ were defined. The adjacency spectrum and the signless Laplacian spectrum of the two new graphs were computed when $G_{1}$ is an arbitrary graph and $G_{2}$ is an $r$-regular graph. In this paper, we give the formulate of the resistance distance and the Kirchhoff index in $G_{1}\diamondsuit G_{2}$ and $G_…
An adjacent vertex distinguishing total $k$-coloring $f$ of a graph $G$ is a proper total $k$-coloring of $G$ such that no pair of adjacent vertices has the same color sets, where the color set at a vertex $v$, $C^G_f(v)$, is $\{f(v)\} \cup \{f(vu)|u \in V (G), vu \in E(G)\}$. In 2005 Zhang et al. posted the conjecture (AVDTCC) that every simple graph $G$ has adjacent vertex distinguishing total $(Δ(G)+3)$-coloring. In this paper we confirm the conjecture for many coronas, in particular for generalized, simple and $l$-coronas of graphs, not relating the results to particular graph classes.
In this paper, we introduce two new graph operations, namely, the subdivision vertex-edge neighbourhood vertex-corona and the subdivision vertex-edge neighbourhood edge-corona on graphs $G_1$, $G_2$ and $G_3$, and the resulting graphs are denoted by $G_1^S\bowtie (G_2^V\cup G_3^E)$ and $G_1^S\diamondsuit(G_2^V\cup G_3^E)$, respectively. Whereafter, the normalized Laplacian spectra of $G_1^S\bowtie (G_2^V\cup G_3^E)$ and $G_1^S\diamondsuit(G_2^V\cup G_3^E)$ are respectively determined in terms of the corresponding normalized Laplacian spectra of the connected regular graphs $G_{1}$, $G_{2}$ and…
In this paper, we study the existence of perfect state transfer and pretty good state transfer in vertex complemented coronas. We prove that perfect state transfer in vertex complemented coronas is extremely rare. In contrast, we give sufficient conditions for vertex complemented coronas to have pretty good state transfer.
In this paper, we investigate the existence of Laplacian perfect state transfer and Laplacian pretty good state transfer in vertex complemented coronas. We prove that there is no Laplacian perfect state transfer in vertex complemented coronas. In contrast, we give a sufficient condition for vertex complemented coronas to have Laplacian pretty good state transfer.
Let $G=(V(G),E(G))$ be a graph with vertex set $V(G)$ and edge set $E(G)$. The subdivision graph $\mathcal{S}(G)$ of a graph $G$ is the graph obtained by inserting a new vertex into every edge of $G$. Let $G_1$ and $G_2$ be two vertex disjoint graphs. The subdivision-vertex neighbourhood corona of $G_1$ and $G_2$, denoted by $G_1 \boxdot G_2$, is the graph obtained from $\mathcal{S}(G_1)$ and $|V(G_1)|$ copies of $G_2$, all vertex disjoint, and joining the neighbours of the $i$th vertex of $V(G_1)$ to every vertex in the $i$th copy of $G_2$. The subdivision-edge neighbourhood corona of $G_1$ a…
Let $G = (V, E)$ be a finite simple undirected graph without $K_2$ components. A bijection $f : E \rightarrow \{1, 2,\cdots, |E|\}$ is called a {\bf local antimagic labeling} if for any two adjacent vertices $u$ and $v$, they have different vertex sums, i.e. $w(u) \neq w(v)$, where the vertex sum $w(u) = \sum_{e \in E(u)} f(e)$, and $E(u)$ is the set of edges incident to $u$. Thus any local antimagic labeling induces a proper vertex coloring of $G$ where the vertex $v$ is assigned the color(vertex sum) $w(v)$. The {\bf local antimagic chromatic number} $χ_{la}(G)$ is the minimum number of colo…
Dominator coloring of a graph is a proper (vertex) coloring with the property that every vertex is either alone in its color class or adjacent to all vertices of at least one color class. A dominated coloring of a graph is a proper coloring such that every color class is dominated with at least one vertex. The dominator chromatic number of corona products and of edge corona products is determined. Sharp lower and upper bounds are given for the dominated chromatic number of edge corona products. The dominator chromatic number of hierarchical products is bounded from above and the dominated chro…
The subdivision graph $\mathcal{S}(G)$ of a graph $G$ is the graph obtained by inserting a new vertex into every edge of $G$. Let $G_1$ and $G_2$ be two vertex disjoint graphs. The \emph{subdivision-vertex corona} of $G_1$ and $G_2$, denoted by $G_1\odot G_2$, is the graph obtained from $\mathcal{S}(G_1)$ and $|V(G_1)|$ copies of $G_2$, all vertex-disjoint, by joining the $i$th vertex of $V(G_1)$ to every vertex in the $i$th copy of $G_2$. The \emph{subdivision-edge corona} of $G_1$ and $G_2$, denoted by $G_1\circleddash G_2$, is the graph obtained from $\mathcal{S}(G_1)$ and $|I(G_1)|$ copies…
For a graph G, the graph R(G) of a graph G is the graph obtained by adding a new vertex for each edge of G and joining each new vertex to both end vertices of the correspond- ing edge. Let I(G) be the set of newly added vertices. In this paper, we derive closed-form formulas for resistance distance and Kirchhoff index of generalized R-vertex and R-edge corona whenever G and Hi are arbitrary graph. These results generalize the existing results in [9].
The distinguishing number (index) $D(G)$ ($D'(G)$) of a graph $G$ is the least integer $d$ such that $G$ has an vertex labeling (edge labeling) with $d$ labels that is preserved only by a trivial automorphism. The neighbourhood corona of two graphs $G_1$ and $G_2$ is denoted by $G_1 \star G_2$ and is the graph obtained by taking one copy of $G_1$ and $|V(G_1)|$ copies of $G_2$, and joining the neighbours of the $i$th vertex of $G_1$ to every vertex in the $i$th copy of $G_2$. In this paper we describe the automorphisms of the graph $G_1\star G_2$. Using results on automorphisms, we study the d…
A vertex coloring of a graph $G$ is an assignment of colors to the vertices of $G$ such that every two adjacent vertices of $G$ have different colors. A coloring related property of a graphs is also an assignment of colors or labels to the vertices of a graph, in which the process of labeling is done according to an extra condition. A set $S$ of vertices of a graph $G$ is a dominating set in $G$ if every vertex outside of $S$ is adjacent to at least one vertex belonging to $S$. A domination parameter of $G$ is related to those structures of a graph satisfying some domination property together …
A vertex $v\in V(G)$ is said to distinguish two vertices $x,y\in V(G)$ of a nontrivial connected graph $G$ if the distance from $v$ to $x$ is different from the distance from $v$ to $y$. A set $S\subset V(G)$ is a local metric generator for $G$ if every two adjacent vertices of $G$ are distinguished by some vertex in $S$. A local metric generator with the minimum cardinality is called a local metric basis for $G$ and its cardinality, the local metric dimension of G. In this paper we study the problem of finding exact values for the local metric dimension of corona product of graphs.
In this paper, for a graph G and a family of partitions P of vertex neighborhoods of G, we define the general corona G \circ P of G. Among several properties of this new operation, we focus on application general coronas to a new kind of characterization of trees with the domination subdivision number equal to 3.
Graph operations are crucial for building complicated network architectures from simple graphs. In [7], authors defined two new variants of Corona product and investigated some topological indices. In this paper, we extended the work and found the formulas of forgotten, first hyper Zagreb, and reduced second Zagreb indices for Corona join product and sub-division vertex join products of graphs.
Let $G_1$ and $G_2$ be two graphs on disjoint sets of $n_1$ and $n_2$ vertices, respectively. The corona of graphs $G_1$ and $G_2$, denoted by $G_1\circ G_2$, is the graph formed from one copy of $G_1$ and $n_1$ copies of $G_2$ where the $i$-th vertex of $G_1$ is adjacent to every vertex in the $i$-th copy of $G_2$. The neighborhood corona of $G_1$ and $G_2$, denoted by $G_1\diamond G_2$, is the graph obtained by taking one copy of $G_1$ and $n_1$ copies of $G_2$ and joining every neighbor of the $i$-th vertex of $G_1$ to every vertex in the $i$-th copy of $G_2$ by a new edge. In this paper, t…
In this paper, we provide a correct proof for the lower bounds of the local antimagic chromatic number of the corona product of friendship and fan graphs with null graph respectively as in [On local antimagic vertex coloring of corona products related to friendship and fan graph, {\it Indon. J. Combin.}, 5(2) (2021) 110--121]. Consequently, we obtained a sharp lower bound that gives the exact local antimagic chromatic number of the corona product of friendship and null graph.
We find the asymptotic behavior of the Steiner k-diameter of the $n$-cube if $k$ is large. Our main contribution is the lower bound, which utilizes the probabilistic method.
A vertex $x$ in a graph $G$ resolves two vertices $u$, $v$ of $G$ if the distance between $u$ and $x$ is not equal to the distance between $v$ and $x$. A function $g$ from the vertex set of $G$ to $[0,1]$ is a resolving function of $G$ if $g(R_G\{u,v\})\geq 1$ for any two distinct vertices $u$ and $v$, where $R_G\{u,v\}$ is the set of vertices resolving $u$ and $v$. The real number $\sum_{v\in V(G)}g(v)$ is the weight of $g$. The minimum weight of all resolving functions for $G$ is called the fractional metric dimension of $G$, denoted by $\dim_f(G)$. In this paper we reduce the problem of com…
Considering a graph $H$ of order $p$, a generalized $H$-join operation of a family of graphs $G_1,..., G_p$, constrained by a family of vertex subsets $S_i \subseteq V(G_i)$, $i=1,..., p,$ is introduced. When each vertex subset $S_i$ is $(k_i,τ_i)$-regular, it is deduced that all non-main adjacency eigenvalues of $G_i$, different from $k_i-τ_i$, for $i=1,..., p,$ remain as eigenvalues of the graph $G$ obtained by the above mentioned operation. Furthermore, if each graph $G_i$ of the family is $k_i$-regular, for $i=1,..., p$, and all the vertex subsets are such that $S_i=V(G_i)$, the $H$-genera…
The neighborhood corona $G \star H$ is the graph obtained by taking one copy $G$ and $|G|$ copies of $H$, and joining each vertex of the $j$th copy of $H$ to all neighbors of $v_{j}$ in $G$. In this paper, we study the state transfer of neighborhood coronas related to the adjacency matrix. Concretely, we provide some necessary conditions under which the neighborhood corona $G \star H$ admits perfect state transfer, and obtain a new family of graphs with pretty good state transfer based on neighborhood coronas.
Given simple graphs $G_1$ and $G_2$, the neighbourhood corona of $G_1$ and $G_2$, denoted $G_1\star G_2$, is the graph obtained by taking one copy of $G_1$ and $|V(G_1)|$ copies of $G_2$, and joining the neighbours of the $i$th vertex of $G_1$ to every vertex in the $i$th copy of $G_2$. In this paper we determine the adjacency spectrum of $G_1 \star G_2$ for arbitrary $G_1$ and $G_2$, and the Laplacian spectrum and signless Laplacian spectrum of $G_1\star G_2$ for regular $G_1$ and arbitrary $G_2$, in terms of the corresponding spectrum of $G_1$ and $G_2$. The results on the adjacency and sign…
Crapo introduced a construction of interval partitions of the Boolean lattice for sets equipped with matroid structure. This construction, in the context of graphic matroids, is related to the notion of edge activities introduced by Tutte. This implies that each spanning subgraph of a connected graph can be constructed from edges of exactly one spanning tree by deleting a unique subset of internally active edges and adding a unique subset of externally active edges. Since the family of vertex independent sets does not give rise to a matroid structure we can not apply Crapo's construction on th…
A subset of vertices of a graph is minimal if, within all subsets of the same size, its vertex boundary is minimal. We give a complete, geometric characterization of minimal sets for the planar integer lattice X. Our characterization elucidates the structure of all minimal sets, and we are able to use it to obtain several applications. We characterize uniquely minimal sets of X: those which are congruent to any other minimal set of the same size. We also classify all efficient sets of X: those that have maximal size amongst all such sets with a fixed vertex boundary. We define and investigate …
For simple graphs $G$, $G_1$ and $G_2$, we denote their double corona based on $R$-graph by $G^{(R)}\otimes{\{G_1,G_2\}}$. This paper determines the normalized Laplacian spectrum of $G^{(R)}\otimes{\{G_1,G_2\}}$ in terms of these of $G$, $G_1$ and $G_2$ whenever $G$, $G_1$ and $G_2$ are regular. The obtained result reduces to the normalized Laplacian spectra of the $R$-vertex corona $G^{(R)}\odot{G_1}$ and $R$-edge corona $G^{(R)}\circleddash{G_2}$ by choosing $G_2$ or $G_1$ as a null-graph, respectively. Finally, applying the results of the paper, we construct infinitely many pairs of normali…
We study $Q$-polynomial distance-regular graphs from the point of view of what we call descendents, that is to say, those vertex subsets with the property that the width $w$ and dual width $w^*$ satisfy $w+w^*=d$, where $d$ is the diameter of the graph. We show among other results that a nontrivial descendent with $w\ge 2$ is convex precisely when the graph has classical parameters. The classification of descendents has been done for the 5 classical families of graphs associated with short regular semilattices. We revisit and characterize these families in terms of posets consisting of descend…
In this paper, we introduce central vertex corona, central edge corona, and central edge neighborhood corona of graphs using central graph. Also, we determine their adjacency spectrum, Laplacian spectrum and signless Laplacian spectrum. From our results, it is possible to obtain infinitely many pairs of adjacency (respectively, Laplacian and signless Laplacian) cospectral graphs. As an application, we calculate the number of spanning trees and the Kirchhoff index of the resulting graphs.

Given a set of vertices $S=\{v_1,v_2,...,v_k\}$ of a connected graph $G$, the metric representation of a vertex $v$ of $G$ with respect to $S$ is the vector $r(v|S)=(d(v,v_1),d(v,v_2),...,d(v,v_k))$, where $d(v,v_i)$, $i\in \{1,...,k\}$ denotes the distance between $v$ and $v_i$. $S$ is a resolving set of $G$ if for every pair of vertices $u,v$ of $G$, $r(u|S)\ne r(v|S)$. The metric dimension $dim(G)$ of $G$ is the minimum cardinality of any resolving set of $G$. Given an ordered partition $Π=\{P_1,P_2, ...,P_t\}$ of vertices of a connected graph $G$, the partition representation of a vertex $…
In this paper, we determine the two normalized Laplacian spectrum of generalized subdivision- vertex corona, subdivision-edge corona for a connected regular graph with an arbitrary reg- ular graph in terms of their normalized Laplacian eigenvalues. Moreover, applying these results, we find some non-regular normaliaed Laplacian cospectral graphs. These results generalize the existing results in [11].
A tree $T$ in an edge-colored graph $H$ is called a \emph{monochromatic tree} if all the edges of $T$ have the same color. For $S\subseteq V(H)$, a \emph{monochromatic $S$-tree} in $H$ is a monochromatic tree of $H$ containing the vertices of $S$. For a connected graph $G$ and a given integer $k$ with $2\leq k\leq |V(G)|$, the \emph{$k$-monochromatic index $mx_k(G)$} of $G$ is the maximum number of colors needed such that for each subset $S\subseteq V(G)$ of $k$ vertices, there exists a monochromatic $S$-tree. In this paper, we prove that for any connected graph $G$, $mx_k(G)=|E(G)|-|V(G)|+2$ …
If $G=(V_G, E_G)$ is a graph, then $S\subseteq V_G$ is a global defensive $k$-alliance in $G$ if (i) each vertex not in $S$ has a neighbor in $S$ and (ii) each vertex of $S$ has at least $k$ more neighbors inside $S$ than outside of it. The global defensive $k$-alliance number of $G$ is the minimum cardinality among all global defensive $k$-alliance in $G$. In this paper this concept is studied on the generalized hierarchical, the lexicographic, the corona, and the edge corona product. For all of these products upper bounds expressed with related invariants of the factors are given. Sharpness …
Let $[n]=X_1\cup X_2\cup X_3$ be a partition with $\lfloor\frac{n}{3}\rfloor \leq |X_i|\leq \lceil\frac{n}{3}\rceil$ and define $\mathcal{G}=\{G\subset [n]\colon |G\cap X_i|\leq 1, 1\leq i\leq 3\}$. It is easy to check that the trace $\mathcal{G}_{\mid Y}:=\{G\cap Y\colon G\in \mathcal{G}\}$ satisfies $|\mathcal{G}_{\mid Y}|\leq 12$ for all 4-sets $Y\subset [n]$. For $n\geq 25$ it is proven that whenever $\mathcal{F}\subset 2^{[n]}$ satisfies $|\mathcal{F}|>|\mathcal{G}|$ then $|\mathcal{F}_{\mid C}|\geq 13$ for some $C\subset [n]$, $|C|=4$. Several further results of a similar flavor are esta…
$S$ is a resolving set for $G$ if for every pair of vertices $u,v$ of $G$, $r(u|S)\ne r(v|S)$. The metric dimension of $G$, $dim(G)$, is the minimum cardinality of any resolving set for $G$. Let $G$ and $H$ be two graphs of order $n_1$ and $n_2$, respectively. The corona product $G\odot H$ is defined as the graph obta…
The zero forcing number of a graph $G$, denoted by $Z(G)$, is the minimum cardinality of a set $S$ of black vertices (where vertices in $V(G)\setminus S$ are colored white) such that $V(G)$ is turned black after finitely many applications of $"$the color change rule$"$: a white vertex is turned black if it is the only white neighbor of a black vertex. In this paper, we study the zero forcing number of corona product, $G\odot H$ and lexicographic product, $G\circ H$ of two graphs $G$ and $H$. It is shown that if $G$ and $H$ are connected graphs of order $n_{1}\geq2$ and $n_{2}\geq2$ respectivel…
A vertex cover of a graph $G = (V, E)$ is a set $X \subseteq V$ such that each edge of $G$ is incident to at least one vertex of $X$. A dominating set $D \subseteq V$ is a total dominating set of $G$ if the subgraph induced by $D$ has no isolated vertices. A $(γ_t-τ)$-set of $G$ is a minimum vertex cover which is also a minimum total dominating set. In this article we give a constructive characterization of trees having a $(γ_t-τ)$-set.
For a vertex $x$ of a graph $G$, let $N_G[x]$ be the set of $x$ with all of its neighbors in $G$. A set $C$ of vertices is an {\em identifying code} of $G$ if the sets $N_G[x]\cap C$ are nonempty and distinct for all vertices $x$. If $G$ admits an identifying code, we say that $G$ is identifiable and denote by $γ^{ID}(G)$ the minimum cardinality of an identifying code of $G$. In this paper, we study the identifying code of the corona product $H\odot G$ of graphs $H$ and $G$. We first give a necessary and sufficient condition for the identifiable corona product $H\odot G$, and then express $γ^{…
An antimagic labeling of a graph $G$ is a $1-1$ correspondence between the edge set $E(G)$ and $\lbrace 1,2,...,|E(G)|\rbrace$ in which the sum of the labels of edges incident to the distinct vertices are different. The edge corona of any two graphs $G$ and $H$, (denoted by $G$ $\diamond$ $H$) is obtained by joining one copy of $G$ with $|E(G)|$ copies of H such that the end vertices of $i^{th}$ edge of $G$ is adjacent to every vertex in the $i^{th}$ copy of $H$. In this paper, we provide an algorithm to prove that the following graphs admit an antimagic labeling: $-$ $n$-barbell graph $B_n$, …
Let $G$ be a simple graph with $m$ edges and $H_i$, $1\leq i \leq m$ be simple graphs too. The generalized edge corona product of graphs $G$ and $H_1, ..., H_m$, denoted by $G \diamond (H_1, ..., H_m)$, is obtained by taking one copy of graphs $G$, $H_1, ..., H_m$ and joining two end vertices of $i$-th edge of $G$ to every vertex of $H_i$, $1\leq i \leq m$. In this paper, some results regarding the $k$-distance chromatic number of Generalized edge corona product of graphs are presented. Also, as a consequence of our results, we compute this invariant for the graphs $K_n \diamond (H_1, ..., H_m…
A graph $G$ of order $n>2$ is pancyclic if $G$ contains a cycle of length $l$ for each integer $l$ with $3 \leq l \leq n $ and it is called vertex-pancyclic if every vertex is contained in a cycle of length $l$ for every $3 \leq l \leq n $. A graph $G$ of order $n > 2$ is Hamilton-connected if for any pair of distinct vertices $u$ and $v$, there is a Hamilton $u$-$v$ path, namely, there is a $u$-$v$ path of length $n-1$. The graph $ B(n)$ is a graph with the vertex set $V=\{v \ | \ v \subset [n] , | v | \in \{ 1,2 \} \} $ and the edge set $ E= \{ \{ v , w \} \ | \ v , w \in V , v \subset w $ o…
