Dominator coloring of a graph is a proper (vertex) coloring with the property that every vertex is either alone in its color class or adjacent to all vertices of at least one color class. A dominated coloring of a graph is a proper coloring such that every color class is dominated with at least one vertex. The dominator chromatic number of corona products and of edge corona products is determined. Sharp lower and upper bounds are given for the dominated chromatic number of edge corona products. The dominator chromatic number of hierarchical products is bounded from above and the dominated chromatic number of hierarchical products with two factors determined. An application of dominated colorings in genetic networks is also proposed.
Let $G$ be a simple graph of order $n$. A majority dominator coloring of a graph $G$ is proper coloring in which each vertex of the graph dominates at least half of one color class. In this paper we study properties of the majority dominator coloring of a graph. We obtain tight upper and lower bounds in terms of chromatic number, dominator chromatic number, maximum degree, domination and independence number. We also study majority dominator coloring number of sele…

Moreover, we calculate explicitely the total dominator chromatic number of the middle graph of several known families of graphs.

Here, we study the total dominator coloring on central graphs by giving some tight bounds for the total dominator chromatic number of the central of a graph, join of two graphs and Nordhaus-Gaddum-like relations. Also we will calculate the total dominator chromatic number of the central of a path, a cycle, a wheel, a comp…
We define a $P$-compelling coloring as a proper coloring of the vertices of a graph such that every subset consisting of one vertex of each color has property $P$. The $P$-compelling chromatic number is the minimum number of colors in such a coloring. We show that this notion generalizes the dominator and total dominator chromatic numbers, and provide some general bounds and algorithmic results. We also investigate the specific cases where $P$ is that the subset contains at least one edge or that the subset is connected.

The total dominator chromatic number $χ_d^t(G)$ of $G$ is the minimum number of colors among all total dominator coloring of $G$. In this paper, we study the total dominator chromatic number of some specific graphs.

Given a graph $G$, the total dominator coloring problem seeks a proper coloring of $G$ with the additional property that every vertex in the graph is adjacent to all vertices of a color class. We seek to minimize the number of color classes. We study this problem on several classes of graphs, as well as finding general bounds and characterizations. We also show the relation between total dominator chromatic number and chromatic number and total domination number.
In this paper we present an algorithm for finding a minimum dominator coloring of orientations of paths. To date this is the first algorithm for dominator colorings of digraphs in any capacity. We prove that the algorithm always provides a minimum dominator coloring of an oriented path and show that it runs in $\mathcal{O}(n)$ time. The algorithm is available at https://github.com/cat-astrophic/MDC-orientations_of_paths/.

The neighbourhood corona of two graphs $G_1$ and $G_2$ is denoted by $G_1 \star G_2$ and is the graph obtained by taking one copy of $G_1$ and $|V(G_1)|$ copies of $G_2$, and joining the neighbours of the $i$th vertex of $G_1$ to every vertex in the $i$th copy of $G_2$. This paper serves as the first extension of the topic of dominator colorings of graphs to the setting of digraphs. We establish the dominator chromatic number over all possible orientations of paths and cycles. In this endeavor we discover that there are infinitely many counterexamples of a graph and subgraph pair for which the subgraph has a larger dominator chromatic number than the larger graph into which it embeds. Finally, a new graph invariant measuring the difference between the dominator chromatic number of a graph and the chromatic number of that graph is established and studied. The …
For a graph $G = (V(G), E(G))$, a dominating set $D$ is a vertex subset of $V(G)$ in which every vertex of $V(G) \setminus D$ is adjacent to a vertex in $D$. The domination number of $G$ is the minimum cardinality of a dominating set of $G$ and is denoted by $γ(G)$. A coloring of $G$ is a partition $C = (V_{1}, ... ,V_{k})$ such that each of $V_{i}$ in an independent set. The chromatic number is the smallest $k$ among all colorings $C = (V_{1}, ... ,V_{k})$ of $G$ and is denoted by $χ(G)$. A coloring $C = (V_{1}, ... ,V_{k})$ is said to be dominator if, for all $V_{i}$, every vertex $v \in V_{…
Let $G=(V,E)$ be a graph with no isolated vertices. A vertex $v$ totally dominate a vertex $w$ ($w \ne v$), if $v$ is adjacent to $w$. A set $D \subseteq V$ called a total dominating set of $G$ if every vertex $v\in V$ is totally dominated by some vertex in $D$. The minimum cardinality of a total dominating set is the total domination number of $G$ and is denoted by $γ_t(G)$. A total dominator coloring of graph $G$ is a proper coloring of vertices of $G$, so that each vertex totally dominates some color class. An adjacent vertex distinguishing total $k$-coloring $f$ of a graph $G$ is a proper total $k$-coloring of $G$ such that no pair of adjacent vertices has the same color sets, where the color set at a vertex $v$, $C^G_f(v)$, is $\{f(v)\} \cup \{f(vu)|u \in V (G), vu \in E(G)\}$. In 2005 Zhang et al. posted the conjecture (AVDTCC) that every simple graph $G$ has adjacent vertex distinguishing total $(Δ(G)+3)$-coloring. In this paper we confirm the conjecture for many coronas, in particular for generalized, simple and $l$-coronas of graphs, not relating the results to particular graph classes.
A proper $[k]$-total coloring $c$ of a graph $G$ is a mapping $c$ from $V(G)\bigcup E(G)$ to $[k]=\{1,2,\cdots,k\}$ such that $c(x)\neq c(y)$ for which $x$, $y\in V(G)\bigcup E(G)$ and $x$ is adjacent to or incident with $y$. Let $\prod(v)$ denote the product of $c(v)$ and the colors on all the edges incident with $v$. For each edge $uv\in E(G)$, if $\prod(u)\neq \prod(v)$, then the coloring $c$ is called a neighbor product distinguishing total coloring of $G$. we use $χ"_{\prod}(G)$ to denote the minimal value of $k$ in such a coloring of $G$. In 2015, Li et al. conjectured that $Δ(G)+3$ colo…
A vertex coloring of a graph $G$ is an assignment of colors to the vertices of $G$ such that every two adjacent vertices of $G$ have different colors. A coloring related property of a graphs is also an assignment of colors or labels to the vertices of a graph, in which the process of labeling is done according to an extra condition. A set $S$ of vertices of a graph $G$ is a dominating set in $G$ if every vertex outside of $S$ is adjacent to at least one vertex belonging to $S$. A domination parameter of $G$ is related to those structures of a graph satisfying some domination property together …
A domination coloring of a graph $G$ is a proper vertex coloring of $G$ such that each vertex of $G$ dominates at least one color class, and each color class is dominated by at least one vertex. The minimum number of colors among all domination colorings is called the domination chromatic number, denoted by $χ_{dd}(G)$. In this paper, we study the complexity of this problem by proving its NP-Completeness for arbitrary graphs, and give general bounds and characterizations on several classes of graphs. We also show the relation between dominator chromatic number $χ_{d}(G)$, dominated chromatic n…
Let $G = (V, E)$ be a finite simple undirected graph without $K_2$ components. A bijection $f : E \rightarrow \{1, 2,\cdots, |E|\}$ is called a {\bf local antimagic labeling} if for any two adjacent vertices $u$ and $v$, they have different vertex sums, i.e. $w(u) \neq w(v)$, where the vertex sum $w(u) = \sum_{e \in E(u)} f(e)$, and $E(u)$ is the set of edges incident to $u$. Thus any local antimagic labeling induces a proper vertex coloring of $G$ where the vertex $v$ is assigned the color(vertex sum) $w(v)$. The {\bf local antimagic chromatic number} $χ_{la}(G)$ is the minimum number of colo…
A graph is equitably $k$-colorable if its vertices can be partitioned into $k$ independent sets in such a way that the number of vertices in any two sets differ by at most one. The smallest $k$ for which such a coloring exists is known as the \emph{equitable chromatic number} of $G$ and it is denoted by $χ_{=}(G)$. In this paper the problem of determinig $χ_=$ for coronas of cubic graphs is studied. Although the problem of ordinary coloring of coronas of cubic graphs is solvable in polynomial time, the problem of equitable coloring becomes NP-hard for these graphs. We provide polynomially solv…
A graph is equitably $k$-colorable if its vertices can be partitioned into $k$ independent sets in such a way that the number of vertices in any two sets differ by at most one. The smallest $k$ for which such a coloring exists is known as the equitable chromatic number of $G$ and denoted $χ_{=}(G)$. It is known that this problem is NP-hard in general case and remains so for corona graphs. In "Equitable colorings of Cartesian products of graphs" (2012) Lin and Chang studied equitable coloring of Cartesian products of graphs. In this paper we consider the same model of coloring in the case of co…
The minimum number of total independent partition sets of $V \cup E$ of a graph $G=(V,E)$ is called the \emph{total chromatic number} of $G$, denoted by $χ''(G)$. If the difference between cardinalities of any two total independent sets is at most one, then the minimum number of total independent partition sets of $V \cup E$ is called the \emph{equitable total chromatic number}, and is denoted by $χ''_=(G)$. In this paper we consider equitable total coloring of coronas of cubic graphs, $G \circ H$. It turns out that, independly on the values of equitable total chromatic number of factors $G$ a…
In this paper, we provide a correct proof for the lower bounds of the local antimagic chromatic number of the corona product of friendship and fan graphs with null graph respectively as in [On local antimagic vertex coloring of corona products related to friendship and fan graph, {\it Indon. J. Combin.}, 5(2) (2021) 110--121]. Consequently, we obtained a sharp lower bound that gives the exact local antimagic chromatic number of the corona product of friendship and null graph.
A vertex coloring of a graph $G$ is distinguishing if non-identity automorphisms do not preserve it. The distinguishing number, $D(G)$, is the minimum number of colors required for such a coloring and the distinguishing threshold, $θ(G)$, is the minimum number of colors~$k$ such that any arbitrary $k$-coloring is distinguishing. Moreover, $Φ_k (G)$ is the number of distinguishing coloring of $G$ using at most $k$ colors. In this paper, for some graph operations, namely, vertex-sum, rooted product, corona product and lexicographic product, we find formulae of the distinguishing number and thres…
Felsner, Hurtado, Noy and Streinu (2000) conjectured that arrangement graphs of simple great-circle arrangements have chromatic number at most $3$. Motivated by this conjecture, we study the colorability of arrangement graphs for different classes of arrangements of (pseudo-)circles. In this paper the conjecture is verified for $\triangle$-saturated pseudocircle arrangements, i.e., for arrangements where one color class of the 2-coloring of faces consists of triangles only, as well as for further classes of (pseudo-)circle arrangements. These results are complemented by a construction which ma…
