In this paper we present new theoretical results for the Dantzig and Lasso estimators of the drift in a high dimensional Ornstein-Uhlenbeck model under sparsity constraints. Our focus is on oracle inequalities for both estimators and error bounds with respect to several norms. In the context of the Lasso estimator our paper is strongly related to [11], who investigated the same problem under row sparsity. We improve their rates and also prove the restricted eigenvalue property solely under ergodicity assumption on the model. Finally, we demonstrate a numerical analysis to uncover the finite sample performance of the Dantzig and Lasso estimators.
We investigate the problem of estimating the drift parameter of a high-dimensional Lévy-driven Ornstein--Uhlenbeck process under sparsity constraints. It is shown that both Lasso and Slope estimators achieve the minimax optimal rate of convergence (up to numerical constants), for tuning parameters chosen independently of the confidence level, which improves the previously obtained results for standard Ornstein--Uhlenbeck processes. The results are nonasymptotic and hold both in probability and conditional expectation with respect to an event resembling the restricted eigenvalue condition.
We construct a least squares estimator for the drift parameters of a fractional Ornstein Uhlenbeck process with periodic mean function and long range dependence. For this estimator we prove consistency and asymptotic normality. In contrast to the classical fractional Ornstein Uhlenbeck process without periodic mean function the rate of convergence is slower depending on the Hurst parameter $H$, namely $n^{1-H}$.
It is considered Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process $ x_t = x_0 e^{-θt} + μ(1-e^{-θt}) + σ\int_0^t e^{-θ(t-s)} dW_s$, where $x_0 \in R$, $θ>0$, $ μ\in R$ and $σ> 0$ are parameters. By use values $(z_k)_{k \in N}$ of corresponding trajectories at a fixed positive moment $t$, a consistent estimate of each unknown parameter of the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck's stochastic process is constructed under assumption that all another parameters are known.
In this article, we study the problem of parameter estimation for a discrete Ornstein - Uhlenbeck model driven by Poisson fractional noise. Based on random walk approximation for the noise, we study least squares and maximum likelihood estimators. Thus, asymptotic behaviours of the estimator is carried out, and a simulation study is shown to illustrate our results.
We prove some efficient inference results concerning estimation of a Ornstein-Uhlenbeck regression model, which is driven by a non-Gaussian stable Levy process and where the output process is observed at high-frequency over a fixed time period. Local asymptotics for the likelihood function is presented, followed by a way to construct an asymptotically efficient estimator through a suboptimal yet very simple preliminary estimator.
Assuming that a threshold Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process is observed at discrete time instants, we propose generalized moment estimators to estimate the parameters. Our theoretical basis is the celebrated ergodic theorem. To use this theorem we need to find the explicit form of the invariant measure. With the sampling time step arbitrarily fixed, we prove the strong consistency and asymptotic normality of our estimators as the sample size tends to infinity.
We consider the problem of asymptotically efficient estimation of drift parameters of the ergodic fractional Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process under continuous observations when the Hurst parameter $H<1/2$ and the mean of its stationary distribution is not equal to zero. In this paper, we derive asymptotically efficient rates and variances of estimators of drift parameters and prove an asymptotic efficiency of a maximum likelihood estimator of drift parameters.
We consider the problem of parameter estimation for the partially observed linear stochastic differential equation. We assume that the unobserved Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process depends on some unknown parameter and estimate the unobserved process and the unknown parameter simultaneously. We construct the two-step MLE-process for the estimator of the parameter and describe its large sample asymptotic properties, including consistency and asymptotic normality. Using the Kalman-Bucy filtering equations we construct recurrent estimators of the state and the parameter.
In this work we present a Gaussian process that arise from the iteration of p fractional Ornstein-Uhlenbeck processes generated by the same fractional Brownian motion. This iteration results, when the values of lambdas are pairwise differents, in a particular linear combination of those processes. Although for $H>1/2$ each term of the linear combination is a long memory processes, we prove that it results in a short memory processes. We include applications to real data that show improvement in predictive performance compared with different ARMA models.
Let the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process $(X_t)_{t\ge0}$ driven by a fractional Brownian motion $B^{H }$, described by $dX_t = -θX_t dt + σdB_t^{H }$ be observed at discrete time instants $t_k=kh$, $k=0, 1, 2, \cdots, 2n+2 $. We propose ergodic type statistical estimators $\hat θ_n $, $\hat H_n $ and $\hat σ_n $ to estimate all the parameters $θ$, $H $ and $σ$ in the above Ornstein-Uhlenbeck model simultaneously. We prove the strong consistence and the rate of convergence of the estimators. The step size $h$ can be arbitrarily fixed and will not be forced to go zero, which is usually a reality. The …
This paper is devoted to parameter estimation of the mixed fractional Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process with a drift. Large sample asymptotical properties of the Maximum Likelihood Estimator is deduced using the Laplace transform computations or the Cameron-Martin formula with extra part from \cite{CK19}
In the present paper we study the asymptotic behavior of the auto-covariance function for Ornstein-Uhlenbeck (OU) processes driven by Gaussian noises with stationary and non-stationary increments and for Hermite OU processes. Our results are generalizations of the corresponding results of Cheridito et al. \cite{CKM} and Kaarakka and Salminen \cite{KS}.
We discuss estimation problems where a polynomial is observed under Ornstein Uhlenbeck noise over a long time interval. We prove local asymptotic normality (LAN) and specify asymptotically efficient estimators. We apply this to the following problem: feeding noise into the classical (deterministic) Hodgkin Huxley model of neuroscience, we are interested in asymptotically efficient estimation of the parameters of the noise process.
We consider the problem of estimation of the drift parameter of an ergodic Ornstein--Uhlenbeck type process driven by a Lévy process with heavy tails. The process is observed continuously on a long time interval $[0,T]$, $T\to\infty$. We prove that the statistical model is locally asymptotic mixed normal and the maximum likelihood estimator is asymptotically efficient.
We investigate the large deviation properties of the maximum likelihood estimators for the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process with shift. We estimate simultaneously the drift and shift parameters. On the one hand, we establish a large deviation principle for the maximum likelihood estimates of the drift and shift parameters. Surprisingly, we find that the drift estimator shares the same large deviation principle as the one previously established for the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process without shift. Sharp large deviation principles are also provided. On the other hand, we show that the maximum likelihood e…
We refer by threshold Ornstein-Uhlenbeck to a continuous-time threshold autoregressive process. It follows the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck dynamics when above or below a fixed level, yet at this level (threshold) its coefficients can be discontinuous. We discuss (quasi)-maximum likelihood estimation of the drift parameters, both assuming continuous and discrete time observations. In the ergodic case, we derive consistency and speed of convergence of these estimators in long time and high frequency. Based on these results, we develop a test for the presence of a threshold in the dynamics. Finally, we ap…
We establish large deviation principles for the couple of the maximum likelihood estimators of dimensional and drift coefficients in the generalised squared radial Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process. We focus our attention to the most tractable situation where the dimensional parameter $a>2$ and the drift parameter $b<0$. In contrast to the previous literature, we state large deviation principles when both dimensional and drift coefficient are estimated simultaneously.
New results on functional prediction of the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process in an autoregressive Hilbert-valued and Banach-valued frameworks are derived. Specifically, consistency of the maximum likelihood estimator of the autocorrelation operator, and of the associated plug-in predictor is obtained in both frameworks.
