We discuss proton decay in a recently proposed model of supersymmetric hybrid inflation based on the gauge symmetry $SU(4)_c \times SU(2)_L \times SU(2)_R$. A $U(1)\, R$ symmetry plays an essential role in realizing inflation as well as in eliminating some undesirable baryon number violating operators. Proton decay is primarily mediated by a variety of color triplets from chiral superfields, and it lies in the observable range for a range of intermediate scale masses for the triplets. The decay modes include $p \rightarrow e^{+}(μ^+) + π^0$, $p \rightarrow \barν + π^{+}$, $p \rightarrow K^0 + e^+(μ^{+})$, and $p \rightarrow K^+ + \barν$, with a lifetime estimate of order $10^{34}-10^{36}$ yrs and accessible at Hyper-Kamiokande and future upgrades. The unification at the Grand Unified Theory (GUT) scale $M_{\rm GUT}$ ($\sim 10^{16}$ GeV) of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) gauge couplings is briefly discussed.
We propose a mechanism to suppress proton decay induced by dimension-5 operators in a supersymmetric SO(10) model. Proton lifetime is directly connected with the intermediate vacuum expectation value which is responsible for the seesaw mechanism. The model shows many consistencies with the present theoretical results such as the components of the two Higgs doublets in the minimal supersymmetric standard model.
Gauge coupling unification in the Supersymmetric Standard Models strongly implies the Grand Unified Theories (GUTs). With the grand desert hypothesis, we show that the supersymmetric GUTs can be probed at the future proton-proton (pp) colliders and Hyper-Kamiokande experiment. For the GUTs with the GUT scale $M_{GUT} \le 1.0\times 10^{16}$ GeV, we can probe the dimension-six proton decay via heavy gauge boson exchange at the Hyper-Kamiokande experiment. Moreover, for the GUTs with $M_{GUT} \ge 1.0\times 10^{16}$ GeV, we for the first time study the upper bounds on the gaugino and sfermion mass…
We propose a mechanism for sufficient suppression of dimension-5 operators for proton decay in a supersymmetric SO(10) model. This mechanism is analogue to the double seesaw mechanism in studying neutrino masses. Only an intermediate VEV instead of an intermediate scale is required so that gauge coupling unification is maintained. The VEV is generated by introducing an anomalous U(1) symmetry whose breaking is at higher scale. The proton decay amplitudes are suppressed by this VEV over the GUT scale. We use $\textbf{45+54}$ in breaking GUT symmetry. $\textbf{120}$ is included so that fermion s…
In minimal supersymmetric SU(5) models, the proton can decay through dimension 5 operators. Since this decay depends directly on the supersymmetric soft masses, it will be constrained by other observables which depend on the soft masses, such as the Higgs mass and the dark matter relic density. In this work, we will examine the upper limit on the proton lifetime in minimal supersymmetric SU(5) with constrained minimal supersymmetric (CMSSM) boundary conditions set at the grand unification scale. We perform a random scan over the variables of the (CMSSM), with of order $10^{6}$ points, and find…
We consider a non-supersymmetric $E_6$ Grand Unified Theory (GUT) with intermediate trinification symmetry $SU(3)_C \times SU(3)_L \times SU(3)_R \times D$ (D denoted as D-parity for discrete left-right symmetry) and study the effect of one-loop threshold corrections arising due to every class of superheavy particles (scalars, fermions and vectors). It is observed that, the intermediate mass scale $M_I$ and $\sin^2θ_W$ remain unaffected by GUT threshold contributions. The threshold modified unification mass scale $M_U$ is in excellent agreement with the present experimental proton decay constr…

We present a minimal renormalizable non-supersymmetric SO(10) grand unified model with a symmetry breaking sector consisting of Higgs fields in the 54_H + 126_H + 10_H representations. This model admits a single intermediate scale associated with Pati-Salam symmetry along with a discrete parity. Spontaneous symmetry breaking, the unification of gauge couplings and proton lifetime estimates are studied in detail in this framework. Including threshold corrections self-consistently, obtained from a full analysis of the Higgs potential, we show that the model is compatible with the current experim…
I present a scenario wherein heavy neutral vector bosons Z', predicted by GUT-inspired U(1)' models, decay into supersymmetric final states, besides the Standard Model channels investigated at the LHC. It is found that accounting for such decays lowers the exclusion limits on the Z' mass at 13 TeV by about 200-300 GeV.
