Gauge coupling unification in the Supersymmetric Standard Models strongly implies the Grand Unified Theories (GUTs). With the grand desert hypothesis, we show that the supersymmetric GUTs can be probed at the future proton-proton (pp) colliders and Hyper-Kamiokande experiment. For the GUTs with the GUT scale $M_{GUT} \le 1.0\times 10^{16}$ GeV, we can probe the dimension-six proton decay via heavy gauge boson exchange at the Hyper-Kamiokande experiment. Moreover, for the GUTs with $M_{GUT} \ge 1.0\times 10^{16}$ GeV, we for the first time study the upper bounds on the gaugino and sfermion masses. We show that the GUTs with anomaly and gauge mediated supersymmetry breakings are well within the reaches of the future 100 TeV pp colliders such as the ${\rm FCC}_{\rm hh}$ and SppC, and the supersymmetric GUTs with gravity mediated supersymmetry breaking can be probed at the future 160 TeV pp collider.

Prediction of low-mass $W_R$ and $Z_R$ gauge bosons in popular grand unified theories has been the subject of considerable attention over the last three decades. In this work we show that when gravity induced corrections due to dim.5 operator are included the minimal symmetry breaking chain of $SO(10)$ and $E_6$ GUTs can yield $W_R^{\pm}$ and $Z_R$ bosons with masses in the range $(3-10)$ TeV which are accessible to experimental tests at the Large Hordan Collider. The RH neutrinos turn out to be heavy pseudo-Dirac fermions. The model can fit all fermion masses and manifest in rich structure of…
In this talk we discuss the possibility to test the hypothesis, which has been proposed to explain the tension between the mass-squared differences of the solar neutrino and KamLAND experiments by the non-standard flavor-dependent interaction in neutrino propagation, with the atmospheric neutrino observations at the future Hyper-Kamiokande experiment.
Dark matter and neutrinos provide the two most compelling pieces of evidence for new physics beyond the Standard Model of Particle Physics but they are often treated as two different sectors. In this paper, we consider how neutrino observables can be used to constrain the parameter space of different models where active neutrinos interact with DM via mediators of different spins. We study for the first time the sensitivity of the Hyper-Kamiokande detector to neutrinos produced from MeV Dark Matter annihilation. In particular, we find that thermally produced DM candidates with masses between 15…
In the minimal SUSY SU(5) GUT with $O(1)$ TeV SUSY particles and $O(1)$ or below self-coupling for the GUT-breaking Higgs field, the width of the dimension-6 proton decay is suppressed below the reach of Hyper-Kamiokande. In this paper, we point out that a SUSY SO(10) GUT which adopts only ${\bf 45}_{\rm H}+{\bf 16}_{\rm H}+{\bf \overline{16}}_{\rm H}$ GUT-breaking Higgs fields leads to an enhanced dimension-6 proton decay width detectable at Hyper-Kamiokande. The enhancement is because the SU(5)-breaking VEV of ${\bf 45}_{\rm H}$ arises due to Planck-suppressed terms, $W\propto ({\bf 45}_{\rm…
A variety of new physics scenarios allow for neutrinos to up-scatter into a heavy neutral lepton state. For a range of couplings and neutrino energies, the heavy neutrino may travel some distance before decaying to visible final states. When both the up-scattering and decay occur within the detector volume, these "double bang" events produce distinctive phenomenology with very low background. In this work, we first consider the current sensitivity at Super-Kamiokande via the atmospheric neutrino flux, and find current data may already provide new constraints. We then examine projected future s…
Hyper-Kamiokande (HK) is a next generation large water Cherenkov detector to be built in Japan, based on the highly successful Super-Kamiokande detector. HK will offer a broad science program such as neutrino oscillation studies, proton decay searches, and neutrino astrophysics with unprecedented sensitivities. This paper describes the overview and physics potential of HK.
CPT invariance is one of the most fundamental symmetries in nature and it plays a major role in the formulation of Quantum Field Theory. Although no definitive signal of CPT violation has been observed so far, there are many reasons to carefully investigate various low-energy phenomena that can provide better probes to test CPT symmetry. In this context, neutrino experiments are expected to provide more stringent bounds on CPT invariance violation when compared to the existing bounds from the Kaon system. In this work, we investigate the sensitivity of the upcoming long-baseline experiments: H…
We investigate the ability of the upcoming Hyper-Kamiokande (Hyper-K) neutrino experiment to detect new physics phenomena beyond the standard, three-massive-neutrinos paradigm; namely the existence of a fourth, sterile neutrino or weaker-than-weak, non-standard neutrino interactions. With both beam-based neutrinos from the Japan Proton Accelerator Research Complex (J-PARC) and atmospheric neutrinos, Hyper-K is capable of exploring new ranges of parameter space in these new-physics scenarios. We find that Hyper-K has comparable capability to the upcoming Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DU…
Testing, in a non-trivial, model-independent way, the hypothesis that the three-massive-neutrinos paradigm properly describes nature is among the main goals of the current and the next generation of neutrino oscillation experiments. In the coming decade, the DUNE and Hyper-Kamiokande experiments will be able to study the oscillation of both neutrinos and antineutrinos with unprecedented precision. We explore the ability of these experiments, and combinations of them, to determine whether the parameters that govern these oscillations are the same for neutrinos and antineutrinos, as prescribed b…
Measurements of the solar neutrino mass-squared difference from KamLAND and solar neutrino data are somewhat discrepant, perhaps due to nonstandard neutrino interactions in matter. We show that the zenith angle distribution of solar neutrinos at Hyper-Kamiokande and the energy spectrum of reactor antineutrinos at JUNO can conclusively confirm the discrepancy and detect new neutrino interactions.
Hyper-Kamiokande (Hyper-K) succeeds the very successful Super-K experiment and will consist of a large detector filled with 260~kton purified water and equipped with 40\% photo-coverage. Physics program of Hyper-K is broad, covering from particle physics to astrophysics and astronomy. The Hyper-K 1$^{st}$ detector will be built in Japan, and the 2$^{nd}$ detector is considered to be built in Korea because locating the 2$^{nd}$ detector in Korea improves physics sensitivities in most cases thanks to the longer baseline ($\sim$1,100~km) and larger overburden ($\sim$1,000~m) for Korean candidate …
We study origin, consequences and testability of a hypothesis of `partial $μ$-$τ$' reflection symmetry. This symmetry predicts $ |U_{μi}|=|U_{τi}|~(i=1,2,3) $ for a single column of the leptonic mixing matrix $U$. Depending on whether this symmetry holds for the first or second column of $U$ different correlations between $θ_{23}$ and $ δ_{CP} $ can be obtained. This symmetry can be obtained using discrete flavour symmetries. In particular, all the subgroups of SU(3) with 3-dimensional irreducible representation which are classified as class C or D can lead to partial $μ$-$τ$ reflection symmet…
We study the ability of the Hyper-Kamiokande (HyperK) experiment, currently under construction, to constrain a neutrino signal produced via the annihilation of dark matter captured in the Sun. We simulate upward stopping and upward through-going muon events at HyperK, using Super-Kamiokande (SuperK) atmospheric neutrino results for validation, together with fully and partially contained events. Considering the annihilation of dark matter to various standard model final states, we determined the HyperK sensitivity to the dark matter spin-dependent scattering cross-section. We find that HyperK w…
Measuring the CP-violating phase by a long base-line neutrino experiment with Hyper-Kamiokande
We study the sensitivity of a long-base-line (LBL) experiment with neutrino beams from the High Intensity Proton Accelerator (HIPA), that delivers 10^{21} POT per year, and a proposed 1Mt water-Cherenkov detector, Hyper-Kamiokande (HK) 295km away from the HIPA, to the CP phase ( delta_{M N S} ) of the three-flavor lepton mixing matrix. We examine a combination of the nu_mu narrow-band beam (NBB) at two different energies, vev{p_pi}=2, 3GeV, and the bar{nu}_mu NBB at vev{p_pi}=2GeV. By allocating one year each for the two nu_mu beams and four years for the bar{nu}_mu beam, we can efficiently me…
We study the proton lifetime in the $SO(10)$ Grand Unified Theory (GUT), which has the left-right (LR) symmetric gauge theory below the GUT scale. In particular, we focus on the minimal model without the bi-doublet Higgs field in the LR symmetric model, which predicts the LR-breaking scale at around $10^{10\text{--}12}$ GeV. The Wilson coefficients of the proton decay operators turn out to be considerably larger than those in the minimal $SU(5)$ GUT model especially when the Standard Model Yukawa interactions are generated by integrating out extra vector-like multiplets. As a result, we find t…
In this work, we investigate the dark sector of a supersymmetric axion model, consisting of the late-decaying gravitino/axino dark matter and axion dark radiation. In the early universe, the decay of the scalar superpartner of the axion (saxion) will produce a large amount of entropy. The additional entropy can not only dilute the relic density of the gravitino/axino dark matter to avoid overclosing the universe but also relax the constraint on the reheating temperature $T_{R}$ after inflation. Meanwhile, the axion dark radiation from the saxion decay will increase the effective number of neut…
Indirect detection of dark matter via its annihilation products is a key technique in the search for dark matter in the form of weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs). Strong constraints exist on the annihilation of WIMPs to highly visible Standard Model final states such as photons or charged particles. In the case of s-wave annihilation, this typically eliminates thermal relic cross sections for dark matter of mass below $\cal{O}$(10) GeV. However, such limits typically neglect the possibility that dark matter may annihilate to assumed invisible or hard-to-detect final states, such as …
We identify a previously untapped discovery channel for grand-unification monopoles, arising from their ability to catalyse the direct decay of protons into monoenergetic 459 MeV antineutrinos within the Sun. Previous analyses omit this possibility as it necessarily involves an electroweak suppression factor, and instead search for the unsuppressed 20-50 MeV neutrinos produced via two-stage proton decays. By accounting for the relative difference in interaction cross section and experimental background at typical neutrino detection experiments, we demonstrate that this new channel in fact poss…

In minimal supersymmetric SU(5) models, the proton can decay through dimension 5 operators. Since this decay depends directly on the supersymmetric soft masses, it will be constrained by other observables which depend on the soft masses, such as the Higgs mass and the dark matter relic density. In this work, we will examine the upper limit on the proton lifetime in minimal supersymmetric SU(5) with constrained minimal supersymmetric (CMSSM) boundary conditions set at the grand unification scale. We perform a random scan over the variables of the (CMSSM), with of order $10^{6}$ points, and find…
A Galactic supernova (SN) axion signal would be detected in a future neutrino Mton-class water Cherenkov detector, such as the proposed Hyper-Kamiokande in Japan. The main detection channel for axions is absorption on the oxygen nuclei in the water. The subsequent oxygen de-excitation leads to a potentially detectable gamma signal. In this contribution we present a calculation of the SN axion signal and discuss its detectability in Hyper-Kamiokande.
We investigate the precision with which the supernova neutrino spectra can be reconstructed in water Cherenkov detectors, in particular the large scale Hyper-Kamiokande and Super-Kamiokande. To this aim, we consider quasi-thermal neutrino spectra modified by the Mikheev-Smirnov-Wolfenstein effect for the case of normal ordering. We perform three 9 degrees of freedom likelihood analyses including first inverse-beta decay only, then the combination of inverse beta decay and elastic scattering on electrons and finally a third analysis that also includes neutral scattering neutrino-oxygen events. …

Proton decay is one of the most important predictions of the grand unified theory (GUT). In the supersymmetric (SUSY) GUT, proton decays via the dimension-five operators need to be suppressed. In the $SO(10)$ model where ${\bf 10}+\overline{\bf 126}$ Higgs fields couple to fermions, neutrino oscillation parameters including the CP-violating Pontecorvo-Maki-Nakagawa-Sakata (PMNS) phase can be related to the Yukawa couplings to generate the dimension-five operators in the unified framework. We show how the suppressed proton decay depends on the PMNS phase, and stress the importance of the precis…
In this paper we examine gauge coupling unification of the the non-SUSY SO(10) grand unified theory proposed by Babu and Mohapatra at the two loop level. This theory breaks down to the standard model in a single step and has the distinguishing feature of TeV non-standard model scalars. This leads to a plethora of interesting new physics at the TeV scale and the discovery of new particles at the LHC. This model gives rise to testable proton decay, neutron-antineutron oscillations, provides a mechanism for baryogenesis, and contains potential dark matter candidates. In this paper, we compute the…
In preparation for upcoming nucleon decay searches at Hyper-Kamiokande, it is important to derive a theoretical upper bound on the proton lifetime in a general class of grand unified theory (GUT) models. In this paper, we make an attempt along this direction for non-SUSY SU(5) models, under the mild restrictions that only one or two SM-decomposed multiplets are singularly light, and that the SU(5) gauge theory is asymptotically free and thus there are no too large representations in the model. We derive criteria for SM-decomposed multiplets that potentially enhance the proton lifetime when the…
We construct a supersymmetric flipped SU(5) grand unified model that possesses an $R$ symmetry. This $R$ symmetry forbids dangerous non-renormalizable operators suppressed by a cut-off scale up to sufficiently large mass dimensions so that the SU(5)-breaking Higgs field develops a vacuum expectation value of the order of the unification scale along the $F$- and $D$-flat directions, with the help of the supersymmetry-breaking effect. The mass terms of the Higgs fields are also forbidden by the $R$ symmetry, with which the doublet-triplet splitting problem is solved with the missing partner mech…
The trilepton nucleon decay modes $p \rightarrow e^+ νν$ and $p \rightarrow μ^+ νν$ violate $|Δ(B - L)|$ by two units. Using data from a 273.4 kiloton year exposure of Super-Kamiokande a search for these decays yields a fit consistent with no signal. Accordingly, lower limits on the partial lifetimes of $τ_{p \rightarrow e^+ νν} > 1.7 \times 10^{32}$ years and $τ_{p \rightarrow μ^+ νν} > 2.2 \times 10^{32}$ years at a $90 \% $ confidence level are obtained. These limits can constrain Grand Unified Theories which allow for such processes.
Hyper-Kamiokande will be a next generation underground water Cherenkov detector with a total (fiducial) mass of 0.99 (0.56) million metric tons, approximately 20 (25) times larger than that of Super-Kamiokande. One of the main goals of Hyper-Kamiokande is the study of $CP$ asymmetry in the lepton sector using accelerator neutrino and anti-neutrino beams. In this paper, the physics potential of a long baseline neutrino experiment using the Hyper-Kamiokande detector and a neutrino beam from the J-PARC proton synchrotron is presented. The analysis uses the framework and systematic uncertainties d…
We point out that two models that reconcile the neutron lifetime anomaly via dark decays of the neutron, also predict dark matter-neutron ($\barχ-n$) annihilation that may be observable in neutron-antineutron oscillation and proton decay searches at Super-Kamiokande, Hyper-Kamiokande and DUNE. We study signatures of $\barχn\to γπ^0$ (or multi-$π^0$) and $\barχn\to ϕγπ^0$ (or $ϕ+$multi-$π^0$), where $ϕ$ is an almost massless boson in one of the two models.
The supersymmetric SU(5) grand unified theory with the gauge symmetry broken by the Hosotani mechanism naturally solves the mass hierarchy problem between the colored Higgs triplet and the electroweak Higgs doublet, and predicts the existence of adjoint chiral superfields with masses of the order of the supersymmetry breaking scale as a byproduct. In addition to the two SU(2)_L Higgs doublets of the minimal supersymmetric standard model, the Higgs sector is extended by an SU(2)_L triplet chiral supermultiplet with hypercharge zero and a neutral singlet one. Such new triplet and singlet chiral …

The next-generation neutrino experiment JUNO will determine the solar oscillation parameters - $\sin^2 θ_{12}$ and $Δm^2_{21}$ - with great accuracy, in addition to measuring $\sin^2θ_{13}$, $Δm^2_{31}$, and the mass ordering. In parallel, the continued study of solar neutrinos at Hyper-Kamiokande will provide complementary measurements in the solar sector. In this paper, we address the expected sensitivity to non-universal and flavour-changing non-standard interactions (NSI) with $d$-type quarks from the combination of these two future neutrino experiments. We also show the robustness of thei…
We discuss proton decay in a recently proposed model of supersymmetric hybrid inflation based on the gauge symmetry $SU(4)_c \times SU(2)_L \times SU(2)_R$. A $U(1)\, R$ symmetry plays an essential role in realizing inflation as well as in eliminating some undesirable baryon number violating operators. Proton decay is primarily mediated by a variety of color triplets from chiral superfields, and it lies in the observable range for a range of intermediate scale masses for the triplets. The decay modes include $p \rightarrow e^{+}(μ^+) + π^0$, $p \rightarrow \barν + π^{+}$, $p \rightarrow K^0 + …
Non-supersymmetric SO(10) grand unified theories provide a framework in which the stability of dark matter is explained while gauge coupling unification is realized. In this work, we systematically study this possibility by classifying weakly interacting DM candidates in terms of their quantum numbers of $\text{SU}(2)_L \otimes \text{U}(1)_Y$, $B-L$, and $\text{SU}(2)_R$. We consider both scalar and fermion candidates. We show that the requirement of a sufficiently high unification scale to ensure a proton lifetime compatible with experimental constraints plays a strong role in selecting viabl…
