In this work, we study the $S$, $P$ and $D$ wave resonance contributions to three-body decays $B_{(s)} \to [ D^{(*)}, \bar{D}^{(*)} ] K^+K^-$ by employing the perturbative QCD (PQCD) approach, where the kaon-kaon invariant mass spectra are dominated by the $f_0(980),f_0(1370),$ $ϕ(1020),ϕ(1680),f_2(1270),f^{\prime}_2(1525),f_2(1750)$ and $f_2(1950)$ resonances. The $KK$ $S$-wave component $f_0(980)$ is modeled with the Flatté formalism, while other resonances are described by the relativistic Breit-Wigner (BW) line shape. The corresponding decay channels are studied by constructing the kaon-kaon distribution amplitude $Φ_{KK}$, which captures important final state interactions between the kaon pair in the resonant region. We found that the PQCD predictions for the branching ratios for most considered decays agree with currently available data within errors. The associated polarization fractions of those vector-vector and vector-tensor decay modes are also predicted, which are expected to be tested in the near future experiments. The invariant mass spectra for the corresponding resonances in the $B_{(s)} \to [D^{(*)}, \bar{D}^{(*)} ] K^+K^-$ decays are well established, which can be confronted with the precise data from the LHCb and Belle II experiments.
In this work, we study the ($S$, $P$ and $D$)-wave $K^+K^-$ contributions to $B\to KKK$ decays in the perturbative QCD approach at leading order. Within the two-meson wave functions describing the nonperturbative dynamics in the kaon-pair for different waves, we calculate the branching fractions and the direct $CP$ asymmetries of these decay modes in the corresponding resonance regions. Most of our numerical results are well consistent with the current measurements. We note that the narrow-width approximation is invalid in the quasi-two-body decays $B\to Kf_0(980)\to KKK$. For other decays, un…
We extend our recent works on the $P$-wave two-pion resonant contributions to the kaon-pion cases in the hadronic charmless $B$ meson decays by employing the perturbative QCD approach. The concerned decay modes are analysed in the quasi-two-body framework by parameterizing the kaon-pion distribution amplitude $Φ_{K π}^{\rm P}$, which contains the final state interactions between the kaon and pion in the resonant region. The relativistic Breit-Wigner formula for the $P$-wave resonant state $K^*(892)$ is adopted to parameterize the time-like form factor $F_{Kπ}$. We calculate the $CP$-averaged b…
We present a particle-level study of the Standard Model non-resonant Higgs-pair production process in the $b\bar{b}b\bar{b}$ final state, at the Large Hadron Collider at $\sqrt{s}=14$ TeV. Each Higgs boson is reconstructed from a pair of close-by jets formed with the anti-$k_t$ jet clustering algorithm, with radius parameter $R=0.4$. Given the kinematic properties of the produced Higgs bosons, this Higgs reconstruction approach appears to be more suitable than the use of large-radius jets that was previously proposed in the literature. We find that the sensitivity for observing this final stat…
We analyze the prospects for resonant di-Higgs production searches at the LHC in the $b\bar{b} W^+ W^-$ ($W^{+} \to \ell^{+} ν_{\ell}$, $W^{-} \to \ell^{-} \barν_{\ell}$) channel, as a probe of the nature of the electroweak phase transition in Higgs portal extensions of the Standard Model. In order to maximize the sensitivity in this final state, we develop a new algorithm for the reconstruction of the $b \bar{b} W^+ W^-$ invariant mass in the presence of neutrinos from the $W$ decays, building from a technique developed for the reconstruction of resonances decaying to $τ^{+}τ^{-}$ pairs. We s…
We consider the resonant production of fermions from an oscillating axial background. The classical evolution of the axial field is given by that of a massive pseudovector field, as suggested by the renormalizability of the theory. We look upon both the massive and the massless fermion production from a perturbative point of view. We obtain the corresponding spectrum and angular distributions for the different spins or helicities in the particular case of a spatial-like axial field. We also extend our study to the non-perturbative regime in the massless case and compare the results with the pe…
The prospects of observing the non-resonant di-Higgs production in the Standard Model at the proposed high energy upgrade of the LHC, $viz.$ the HE-LHC$~$($\sqrt{s}=27~{\rm TeV}$ and $\mathcal{L} = 15~{\rm ab^{-1}}$) is studied. Various di-Higgs final states are considered based on their cleanliness and signal yields. The search for the non-resonant double Higgs production at the HE-LHC is performed in the $b\bar{b}γγ$, $b\bar{b}τ^{+}τ^{-}$, $b\bar{b}WW^{*}$, $WW^{*}γγ$, $b\bar{b}ZZ^{*}$ and $b\bar{b}μ^{+}μ^{-}$ channels. The signal-background discrimination is performed through multivariate a…
Intense field quantum field theory (IFQFT) is used to determine new phenomenological predictions arising from Compton scattering and pair production in a strong laser field. This theory utilizes exact solutions of fermions embedded in external plane waves which carry over to a strong field fermion propagator. When these strong field fermions also interact with probe photons, the transition probability is enhanced in a series of resonances when the kinematics allow the virtual fermion to go on-shell. An analysis of parameters shows that contemporary experiments could already produce these predi…
In this paper we make a systematic study of the semileptonic decays $B/B_s \to (η,\etar, G)(l^+l^-,l\barν,ν\barν)$ by employing the perturbative QCD (pQCD) factorization approach. The next-to-leading-order (NLO) contributions to the relevant form factors are included, and the ordinary $η$-$\etar$ mixing scheme and the $η$-$\etar$-$G$ mixing scheme are considered separately, where $G$ denotes a pseudoscalar glueball. The numerical results and the phenomenological analysis indicate that (a) the NLO contributions to the relevant form factors provide 25% enhancement to the leading-order pQCD predi…
Latest results from a study of baryon ground and resonant states within relativistic constituent quark models are reported. After recalling some typical spectral properties, the description of ground states, especially with regard to the nucleon and hyperon electromagnetic structures, is addressed. In the following, recent covariant predictions for pion, eta, and kaon partial decay widths of light and strange baryon resonances below 2 GeV are summarized. These results exhibit a characteristic pattern that is distinct from nonrelativistic or relativized decay studies performed so far. Together …
We review standard applications of perturbative QCD to baryon production, and argue by examining data that it is generally relevant at high but experimentally feasible momentum transfers. Then we consider some new initiatives, particularly meson photoproduction off baryons and the seeming quagmire of Delta(1232) electroproduction.
Non-resonant diagrams in radiative four-fermion processes

The rare decay B^+ \to D_s^+ \bar K^{*0} can occur only via annihilation diagrams in the Standard Model. We calculate the branching ratio in perturbative QCD approach based on k_T factorization theorem. We found that the branching ratio of this decay is about of order 10^{-8}, which may be sensitive to new physics.
We develop perturbative QCD formalism for three-body nonleptonic $B$ meson decays. Leading contributions are identified by defining power counting rules for various topologies of amplitudes. The analysis is simplified into the one for two-body decays by introducing two-meson distribution amplitudes. This formalism predicts both nonresonant and resonant contributions, and can be generalized to baryonic decays.
Single field baryogenesis, a scenario for Dirac leptogenesis sourced by a time-dependent scalar condensate, is studied. We compare the creation of the charge asymmetry by the perturbative decay of the condensate with the nonperturbative decay, a process of particle production commonly known in the context of inflation as preheating. The nonperturbative channel dominates when the coupling of the scalar field to leptons is sufficiently large.
We have investimated the effect of the isospin 1/2, J^P = 0^+ resonant state K^*_0(1950) on the decays D^0 ->\bar{K}^{0}ηand D^0 ->\bar{K}^0 η' as a function of the branching ratio sum r =Br(K^*_0(1950)->\bar{K}^0η)+ Br(K^*_0(1950)->\bar{K}^0 η' and coupling constants g_{K^*_0\bar{K}^0η}, g_{K^*_0\bar{K}^0η'}. We have used a factorized input for D^0 -> K^*_0(1950) weak transition through a πK loop. We estimated both on- and off-shell contributions from the loop. Our calculation shows that the off-shell effects are significant. For $r\geq 30%$ a fit to the decay amplitude A(D^0 -> \bar{K}^0 η')…
The nonleptonic two-body $B^{\ast}$ ${\to}$ $\bar{D}D$ weak decays are studied phenomenologically with the perturbative QCD factorization approach. It is found that the $B_{s}^{{\ast}0}$ ${\to}$ $D_{s}^{-}D_{s}^{+}$, $B_{d}^{{\ast}0}$ ${\to}$ $D_{d}^{-}D_{s}^{+}$, and $B_{u}^{{\ast}+}$ ${\to}$ $\bar{D}_{u}^{0}D_{s}^{+}$ decays have branching ratios ${\gtrsim}$ $10^{-9}$, and might be promisingly measurable at the running LHC and forthcoming SuperKEKB experiments in the future.
In frame of a phenomenological approach based on Compton-like Feynman amplitudes, we study multi-pion production in antiproton nucleon collisions. The main interest of this reaction is related to the possibility to study the properties of the presumable $\bar N N$ atom and of its resonances. For the case of formation of a scalar or pseudoscalar resonant state, with $I^G(J^{P})=1^-(0^{\pm}),~0^+(0^-)$ numerical results are obtained. The differential cross section in an experimental set-up where the pions invariant mass is measured, is given with explicit dependence on the lepton pair and pions …
A formalism is discussed that allows for a straightforward treatment of the relativistic three-body problem while keeping the correct analytic structure. In particular it is demonstrated that sacrificing covariance for analyticity can be justified by the hierarchy of different contributions in the spirit of an effective field theory. For definiteness the formalism is applied to the $KK\bar K$ system allowing for the emergence of the $a_0(980)$ and the $f_0(980)$ as hadronic molecules. For simplicity all inelastic channels are switched off.
Perturbative corrections of the order of $α_s$ to inclusive double differential lepton distribution from $b$ quark decay are considered. A perturbative correction to the charged lepton energy spectrum has been calculated for an arbitrary charged lepton mass. The perturbative contribution suppresses the partial rate but almost does not change the shape of energy distribution. Applications of our result to semileptonic B meson decays are briefly discussed.
We study preheating, i.e., non-perturbative resonant decay, of flat direction fields, concentrating on MSSM flat directions and the right handed sneutrino. The difference between inflaton preheating and flaton preheating, is that the potential is more constraint in the latter case. The effects of a complex driving field, quartic couplings in the potential, and the presence of a thermal bath are important and cannot be neglected. Preheating of MSSM flat directions is typically delayed due to out-of-phase oscillations of the real and imaginary components and may be preceded by perturbative decay…
The $\bar{B}_{q}^{\ast}$ ${\to}$ $DP$, $DV$ weak decays are studied with the perturbative QCD approach, where $q$ $=$ $u$, $d$ and $s$; $P$ and $V$ denote the ground $SU(3)$ pseudoscalar and vector meson nonet. It is found that the branching ratios for the color-allowed $\bar{B}_{q}^{\ast}$ ${\to}$ $D_{q}ρ^{-}$ decays can reach up to $10^{-9}$ or more, and should be promisingly measurable at the running LHC and forthcoming SuperKEKB experiments in the near future.
We study the polarized $Λ_b$ baryon semileptonic decay $Λ_b \to Λ_cl{\barν}$ using perturbative QCD factorization theorem. In this approach heavy baryon transition form factors are expressed as the convolutions of hard $b$ quark decay amplitudes with universal $Λ_b$ and $Λ_c$ baryon wave functions. With the heavy baryon wave functions determined in our previous work, we predict the asymmetry parameter $α({\hat e})\equiv (N_+-N_-)/(N_++N_-)=-0.31 {\bf P}\cdot{\hat e}$, where ${\bf P}$ is the $Λ_b$ baryon polarization, ${\hat e}$ a unit vector perpendicular to the $Λ_b$ baryon momentum, $N_+$ ($…
We compute the next-to-leading order perturbative QCD corrections to the correlators of nucleon interpolating currents in relativistic nuclear matter. The main new result is the calculation of the O(alpha_s) perturbative corrections to the coefficient functions of the vector quark condensate in matter. This condensate appears in matter due to the violation of Lorentz invariance. The NLO perturbative QCD corrections turn out to be large which implies that the NLO corrections must be included in a sum rule analysis of the properties of both bound nucleons and relativistic nuclear matter.
In the framework of Perturbative QCD (PQCD) approach we study the direct $CP$ asymmetry for the decay channel $\bar{B}_{s}\rightarrow Pπ^+π^-$ around the resonance range via the $ρ-ω$ mixing mechanism (where P refer to pseudoscalar meson). We find that the $CP$ asymmetry can be enhanced by $ρ-ω$ mixing when the masses of the $π^+π^-$ pairs are at the area of $ρ-ω$ resonance, and the maximum $CP$ asymmetry can reach 59{\%} for the relevant decay channels.
We compute the light antiquark flavor asymmetry in the proton using the Chiral Quark Model ($χ_{\rm QM}$). The distribution functions for the light antiquarks $\bar{d}(x)$ and $\bar{u}(x)$ have been extracted with the help of experimental data from NuSea/E866 and HERMES for the Bjorken$-x$ range $0.015 < x < 0.35$ as well from the most recent SeaQuest data for an extended $x$ range $0.13 < x < 0.45$. Our results on the $\bar{d}(x)-\bar{u}(x)$, $\frac{\bar{d}(x)}{\bar{u}(x)}$ and Gottfried Integral $I_G$ are in agreement with the experimental data and confirm the presence of enhanced $\bar{d}$ …
We develop perturbative QCD factorization theorem for the semileptonic heavy baryon decay $Λ_b \to Λ_c l\barν$, whose form factors are expressed as the convolutions of hard $b$ quark decay amplitudes with universal $Λ_b$ and $Λ_c$ baryon wave functions. Large logarithmic corrections are organized to all orders by the Sudakov resummation, which renders perturbative expansions more reliable. It is observed that perturbative QCD is applicable to $Λ_b \to Λ_c$ decays for velocity transfer greater than 1.2. Under requirement of heavy quark symmetry, we predict the branching ratio $B(Λ_b \to Λ_c l{\…
We demonstrate that the two major complementary pictures of large N_c baryon resonances--as single-quark orbital excitations about a closed-shell core [giving SU(2N_F) x O(3) multiplets], and as resonances in meson-baryon scattering amplitudes--are completely compatible in a specific sense: Both pictures give rise to a set of multiplets of degenerate states, for which any complete spin-flavor multiplet within one picture fills the quantum numbers of complete multiplets in the other picture. This result is demonstrated by: (i) straightforward computation of the lowest multiplets in both picture…
The general analysis of the differential cross section and various polarization observables is performed for the process $e^+ + e^- \to N + \bar N +π^0 $ assuming that the annihilation occurs through the exchange of one virtual photon. The dependence of the differential distributions over invariant variables is derived for the reaction $e^+ + e^- \to N + \bar N +π^0 $ in the so-called non-resonant mechanism, applying the conservation of the hadron electromagnetic currents and the P-invariance of the hadron electromagnetic interaction. The detection in an exclusive experimental set up where the…
The $\bar B_s^0\to (D^0,\bar D^0) π^+π^-$ is induced by the $b\to c \bar us$/$b \to u\bar cs$ transition, and can interfere if a CP-eigenstate $D_{\rm CP}$ is formed. The interference contribution is sensitive to the CKM angle $γ$. In this work, we study S-wave $π^+π^-$ contributions to the process in the perturbative QCD factorization. Under the factorization framework, we adopt two-meson light-cone distribution amplitudes, whose normalization is parametrized by the S-wave time-like two-pion form factor with the resonance contributions from $f_0(500)$, $f_0(980),f_0(1500),f_0(1790)$. We find …
In perturbative QCD approach, we study the direct $CP$ violation in the decay of $\bar{B}_s^0\toρ(ω)ϕ\to {π^+}{π^-}ϕ$ via isospin symmetry breaking. An interesting mechanism involving the charge symmetry violating between $ρ$ and $ω$ is applied to enlarge the $CP$ violating asymmetry. We find that the $CP$ violation can be enhanced by the $ρ-ω$ mixing mechanism when the invariant masses of the $π^+π^-$ pairs are in the vicinity of the $ω$ resonance. For the decay process of $\bar{B}^0_{s}\toρ(ω)ϕ\to{π^+}{π^-}ϕ$, the maximum $CP$ violation can reach $5.98\%$. The possibility of detecting the $C…
We compute the $O(α_s)$ corrections to the Wilson coefficients of the dimension five operators in inclusive semileptonic $B$ decays in the limit of a massless final quark. Our calculation agrees with reparameterization invariance and with previous results for the total width and places constraints on the shape functions that enter those decays.
We present new results for the renormalisation and subtraction constants for the four fermion Delta F=2 operators, computed non-perturbatively in the RI-MOM scheme (in the Landau gauge). From our preliminary analysis of the lattice data at beta=6.45, for the B-bar B mixing bag-parameter we obtain B_B^{RGI} = 1.46(7)(1).
We discuss QCD radiative corrections to the production of a heavy neutral resonance $Z'$ at the LHC assuming that it decays into a $ t\bar t$ final state. Compared to previous studies, our computation includes top quark decays as well as interference between the $Z'$ signal process and the QCD $t \bar t$ background. The interference contribution appears for the first time at next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD and requires new one-loop amplitudes that are not present when signal and background are treated separately. We describe some examples of how QCD radiative corrections may influence both the…
Although the two-body charmed decays $B_{(s)} \to \bar D_{(s)}^{(*)}P$ and $\bar D_{(s)}^{(*)}V$, where $P$($V$) denotes a light pseudoscalar(vector) meson, are CKM suppressed comparing with the $B_{(s)} \to D_{(s)}^{(*)}P$ and $ D_{(s)}^{(*)}V$ decays, they are important in the CKM angle $γ=ϕ_3$ extraction method. We investigated these decays in the perturbative QCD approach to the leading order of $m_D/m_B$ and $Λ_{\rm{QCD}}/m_D$ expansion. We find that the nonfactorizable emission diagrams and the annihilation diagrams are not negligible in many of these channels. The numerical results show…
We present a new classification scheme of baryon ground states and resonances into SU(3) flavor multiplets. The scheme is worked out along a covariant formalism with relativistic constituent quark models and it relies on detailed investigations of the baryon spectra, the spin-flavor structure of the baryon eigenstates, the behaviour of their probability density distributions as well as covariant predictions for mesonic decay widths. The results are found to be quite independent of the specific types of relativistic constituent quark models employed. It turns out that a consistent classificatio…
We present an analysis of the static properties of heavy baryons at next-to-leading order in the perurbative expansion of QCD. We obtain analytical next-to-leading order three-loop results for the two-point correlators of baryonic currents with one finite mass quark field for a variety of quantum numbers of the baryonic currents. We consider both the massless limit and the HQET limit of the correlator as special cases of the general finite mass formula and find agreement with previous results. We present closed form expressions for the moments of the spectral density. We determine the residues…
We apply perturbative QCD factorization theorems to inclusive heavy hadron decays, and obtain simultaneously a low semileptonic branching ratio $B(B\to Xl\barν)=10.16%$, the average charm yield $<n_c>=1.17$ per $B$ decay, a small lifetime ratio $τ(Λ_b)/τ(B_d)=0.78$, and the correct absolute decay widths of the $B$ meson and of the $Λ_b$ baryon.
The dependence of the nucleon polarization in the reaction $e^+ + e^- \to N + \bar{N} +π^0 $ over different invariant variables in frame of the non-resonant mechanism, has been derived. The nucleon polarization is expressed in terms of six invariant complex amplitudes, assuming the conservation of the hadron electromagnetic currents and the P-invariance of the hadron electromagnetic interaction. An inclusive experimental setup when the proton (or the antiproton) and the pion are detected in coincidence is considered. Numerical estimations were performed for the so called normal polarization in…
The study of the process phi-->gamma K0 bar(K0) is calculated to be 5.10^(-8) in a scheme which takes into account the different isospin channels involved, I=0,1 with the resonant, f_0(980), a_0(980), and non resonant contributions.
The electromagnetic properties of baryon octet are studied in the perturbative chiral quark model (PCQM). The relativistic quark wave function is extracted by fitting the theoretical results of the proton charge form factor to experimental data and the predetermined quark wave function is applied to study the electromagnetic form factors of other octet baryons as well as magnetic moments, charge and magnetic radii. The PCQM results are found, based on the predetermined quark wave function, in good agreement with experimental data.
We use QCD sum rules to compute matrix elements of the Delta B=2 operators appearing in the heavy-quark expansion of the width difference of the B_s mass eigenstates. Our analysis includes the leading-order operators Q and Q_S, as well as the subleading operators R_2 and R_3, which appear at next-to-leading order in the 1/m_b expansion. We conclude that the violation of the factorization approximation for these matrix elements due to non-perturbative vacuum condensates is as low as 1-2%.
Many newly discovered excited states are interpreted as bound states of hadrons. Can these hadrons also form resonant states? In this paper, we extend the complex scaling method (CSM) to calculate the bound state and resonant state consistently for the $Λ_c D(\bar D)$ and $Λ_c Λ_c (\bar Λ_c)$ systems. For these systems, the $π, η, ρ$ meson exchange contributions are suppressed, the contributions of intermediate- and short-range forces from $σ/ω$ exchange are dominant. Our results indicate that $Λ_c D$ system can not form bound state and resonant state. There exist resonant states in a wide ran…
It is clear that matter is dominant in the Universe compared to antimatter. We call this problem baryon asymmetry. The baryon asymmetry is experimentally determined by both cosmic microwave background and big bang nucleosynthesis measurements. To resolve the baryon number asymmetry of the Universe as well as neutrino oscillations, we study a radiative seesaw model in a modular $A_4$ symmetry. Degenerate heavy Majorana neutrino masses can be naturally realized in an appropriate assignments under modular $A_4$ with large imaginary part of modulus $τ$, and it can induce measured baryon number via…
We compute the shear viscosity of two-flavor QCD plasma in an external magnetic field in perturbative QCD at leading log order, assuming that the magnetic field is weak or soft: $eB\sim g^4\log(1/g)T^2$. We show that the shear viscosity takes a form $η=\barη(\bar B)T^3/(g^4\log(1/g))$ with a dimensionless function $\barη(\bar B)$ in terms of a dimensionless variable $\bar B=(eB)/(g^4\log(1/g)T^2)$. The variable $\bar B$ corresponds to the relative strength of the effect of cyclotron motions compared to the QCD collisions: $\bar B\sim l_{mfp}/l_{cyclo}$. We provide a full numerical result for t…
Within pNRQCD we compute the masses of spin-averaged triply heavy baryons using the now-available NNLO pNRQCD potentials and three-body variational approach. We focus in particular on the role of the purely three-body interaction in perturbation theory. This we find to be reasonably small and of the order 25 MeV Our prediction for the Omega_ccc baryon mass is 4900(250) in keeping with other approaches. We propose to search for this hitherto unobserved state at B factories by examining the end point of the recoil spectrum against triple charm.
We examine the issue of generating the perturbatively absent ${\bf 10} \cdot {\bf 10} \cdot {\bf 5}^H$ SU(5)/flipped SU(5)Yukawa couplings in type II D-brane orientifold compactifications of string theory both at the perturbative (PER) and the non-perturbative (NP) level. We find at the PER level, higher order terms like $ {\bf 10} \cdot {\bf 10} \cdot {\bf{\bar 5}}^H \cdot{\bf{\bar 5}}^H \cdot {\bf{\bar 5}}^H \cdot {\bf{\bar 5}}^H \cdot {\bf 1}^H \cdot {\bf 1}^H$ in SU(5) may be responsible for the relevant quark mass generation in models with general intersecting D6-branes. Euclidean D2-bran…
The QCD-string model for baryons derived by Simonov and used for the calculation of baryon magnetic moments in a previous paper is extended to include also perturbative gluon and meson exchanges. The mass spectrum of the baryon multiplet is studied. For the meson interaction either the pseudoscalar or pseudovector coupling is used. Predictions are compared with the experimental data. Besides these exchanges the influence of excited quark orbitals on the baryon ground state are considered by performing a multichannel calculation. The nucleon-Delta splitting increases due to the mixing of higher…
A recent claim that in quantum chromodynamics the gluon propagator vanishes in the infrared limit, while the ghost propagator is more singular than a simple pole, is investigated analytically and numerically. This picture is shown to be supported even at the level in which the vertices in the Dyson-Schwinger equations are taken to be bare. The running coupling is shown to be uniquely determined by the equations and to have a large finite infrared limit.
