We reconsider decays of pseudoscalar mesons (P) to neutrino pairs and possibly additional photons in presence of (light) Majorana neutrinos. For this purpose we derive a model-independent general parametrization of neutrino mass matrices with physically interpretable and irreducible set of parameters. The parametrization is valid for any number of neutrinos and interpolates smoothly between the heavy Majorana and the (pseudo)Dirac neutrino limits. We apply the new parametrization to the study of $P \rightarrow νν$ and $P \rightarrow ννγ$ decays within the SM extended by additional singlet fermions. We update the SM predictions for the branching ratios of $B_{s,d} \rightarrow ννγ$ and discuss the sensitivity of the $B_{s,d} \rightarrow E_{\rm miss} (γ)$ decays to neutrino mass and mixing parameters.
We study the invisible Majorana fermions of $χ$ in bottomed baryon decays with flavor-changing neutral currents (FCNCs) based on the model-independent effective Lagrangian between the quarks and invisible particles. From the bounds of the coupling constants extracted from the experiments, we examine the decay branching ratios of $Λ_b\toΛχχ$, $Ξ_b^{0(-)}\toΞ^{0(-)}χχ$, $Λ_b\to n χχ$, $Ξ_b^{-}\to Σ^{-} χχ$, $Ξ_b^{0}\to Σ^{0} χχ$, and $Ξ_b^{0}\to Λχχ$, which can be as large as $6.3,~9.2,~5.7,~5.8,~2.7$, and $1.0\times10^{-5}$ for $m_χ=2$ GeV, respectively. Some of these decays are accessible to t…
In this paper, we study the FCNC decay processes of $B$ and $B_c$ meson, in which one invisible particle is emitted. Both the spin-0 and spin-1 cases are considered. The model-independent effective Lagrangian is introduced to describe the coupling between the light invisible boson and quarks. The constraints of the coupling coefficients are extracted by experimental upper limits of the missing energy in $B$ meson decays. The bounds are used to predict the upper limits of branching fractions of corresponding $B_c$ decays, which are of the order of $10^{-6}$ or $10^{-5}$ when final meson is pseu…
The theoretical calculation of pseudo-scalar leptonic decay widths into an invisible ALP, $M \to \ell\, ν_\ell\, a$, is reviewed. Assuming generic flavour-conserving ALP couplings to SM fermions and a generic ALP mass, $m_a$, the latest experimental results for pseudo-scalar leptonic decays are used to provide updated bounds on the ALP-fermion Lagrangian sector. Constrains on the ALP-quark couplings obtained from these channels are not yet competitive with the ones derived from FCNC processes, like $M\to P\,a$ decays. These leptonic decays can, however, provide the most stringent model-indepen…
The flavor-changing neutral current decay processes of the $B$ and $B_c$ mesons with the final states involving spin-$1/2$ particles are investigated. By considering the background of the Standard Model where $ν\barν$ contributes the missing energy and the experimental upper bounds for the branching fractions, we get the constraints of the coupling constants of the quark-antiquark and the assumed invisible particles $χ\barχ$. The constraints of the coupling constants are then used to study the similar processes of the $B_c$ meson. At some specific region of $m_χ$, the upper limit of BR($B_c\to…
We revisit calculations of invisible widths of heavy mesons in the standard model, which serve as benchmarks for the studies of production of light, long-lived neutral particles in heavy meson decays. We challenge the common assumption that in the standard model these widths are dominated by meson decays into a two-neutrino final state and prove that they are dominated by decays into four-neutrino final states. We show that current estimates of the invisible widths of heavy mesons in the standard model underestimate the effect by orders of magnitude. We examine currently available experimental…
We study the $B_C$ meson rare decay in order to search for the Majorana neutrino signal. It is found that the the corresponding decay rate is sensitive to the Majorana neutrino mass and mixing angles. The signal of $B_C^\pm\to l_1^\pm l_2^\pm M^\mp $ induced by the Majorana neutrino within the mass region $m_π<m_n<m_B$ may be observed at LHCb.
In light of current atmospheric neutrino oscillation data, we revisit the invisible decay of the standard model Higgs boson and other pseudoscalar mesons which can be enhanced because of large number of KK modes in models with right handed singlet neutrinos in large extra dimensions. We find that the invisible decay rate of Higgs can be as large as $H\to b \bar b $ decay rate only for a very restricted region of parameter space. This parameter space is even further restricted if one demands that the dimensionless neutrino Yukawa coupling $ł$ is O(1). We have also studied the scenarios where si…
B meson semi-leptonic rare decays are sensitive to new physics beyond standard model. We study the $B^{-}\to π^{-}μ^{+}μ^{-}$ process and investigate the Majorana neutrino contribution to its decay width. The constraints on the Majorana neutrino mass and mixing parameter are obtained from this decay channel with the latest LHCb data. Utilizing the best fit for the parameters, we study the lepton number violating decay $B^{-}\to π^{+}μ^{-}μ^{-}$, and find its branching ratio is about $6.4\times10^{-10}$, which is consistent with the LHCb data reported recently.
A search for the invisible decays of $ω$ and $ϕ$ mesons in $J/ψ\to ω(ϕ)η$ transitions has been performed by the BESIII Collaboration very recently. Inspired by this experimental study, we compute the lowest order contribution to branching ratios of ${\cal B}(V\to\barνν)$ with $V$ denoting $ρ,\;ω,\;ϕ$, as the standard model background to these invisible decays. Our predictions are far below the upper bounds given by the BESIII experiment. We also analyze the $J/ψ\to η(η^\prime)\barνν$ processes, and estimate their decay rates. Furthermore, the invisible decays of light pseudoscalar mesons $P$ i…

In this paper, we study the light scalar and pseudoscalar invisible particles in the flavor changing neutral current processes of the $B_c$ meson. Effective operators are introduced to describe the couplings between quarks and light invisible particles. The Wilson coefficients are extracted from the experimental results of the $B$ and $D$ mesons, which are used to predict the upper limits of the branching fractions of the similar decay processes for the $B_c$ meson. The hadronic transition matrix element is calculated with the instantaneously approximated Bethe-Salpeter method. The upper limit…
We study lepton number violating decays of charged K, D, D_s, B and B_c mesons of the form M^+\to {M'}^-\ell^+\ell^+, induced by the existence of Majorana neutrinos. These processes provide information complementary to neutrinoless double nuclear beta decays, and are sensitive to neutrino masses and lepton mixing. We explore neutrino mass ranges m_N from below 1 eV to several hundred GeV. We find that in many cases the branching ratios are prohibitively small, however in the intermediate range m_π< m_N < m_{B_c}, in specific channels and for specific neutrino masses, the branching ratios can b…
Some of the outstanding questions of particle physics today concern the neutrino sector, in particular whether there are more neutrinos than those already known and whether they are Dirac or Majorana particles. There are different ways to explore these issues. In this article we describe neutrino-mediated decays of charged pseudoscalar mesons such as $π^{\pm}$, $K^{\pm}$ and $B^{\pm}$, in scenarios where extra neutrinos are heavy and can be on their mass shell. We discuss semileptonic and leptonic decays of such kinds. We investigate possible ways of using these decays in order to distinguish b…
We study the possibility of having CP asymmetries in the decay Kaon(+/-) -> pion(-/+) lepton(+/-) lepton(+/-) (lepton = muon or electron). This decay violates Lepton Number by two units and occurs only if there are Majorana particles that mediate the transition. Even though the absolute rate is highly suppressed by current bounds, we search for Majorana neutrino scenarios where the CP asymmetry arising from the lepton sector could be sizeable. This is indeed the case if there are two or more Majorana neutrinos with similar masses in the range around 10^2 MeV. In particular, the asymmetry is po…
In the recent note we argued that most of the available positive and negative neutrino oscillation data can be incorporated in a four-neutrino weak interaction model with one physical condition: thorough maximal mixing of the neutrino components in each of the two mass doublets. On the level of CP-invariance an extended Pontecorvo analogy between the neutrino oscillations and the K^0-meson oscillations, which implied maximal violation of the lepton charge conservation in the neutrino mass matrix exclusively, can afford a physical clue to the three data dictated assumptions in a model with thre…
We discuss same-sign dilepton production mediated by Majorana neutrinos in high-energy proton-proton collisions $pp\ra \ell^+ \ell^{\prime +}X$ for $\ell,~ \ell^\prime = e,~ μ,~ τ$ at the LHC energy $\sqrt{s}=14$ TeV, and in the rare decays of $K$, $D$, $D_s$, and $B$ mesons of the type $M^{+}\ra M^{\prime -}\ell ^{+}\ell ^{\prime+}$. For the $pp$ reaction, assuming one heavy Majorana neutrino of mass $m_N$, we present discovery limits in the $(m_{N},|U_{\ell N}U_{\ell^\prime N}|)$ plane where $U_{\ell N}$ are the mixing parameters. Taking into account the present limits from low energy experi…
The galactic center excess of gamma ray photons can be naturally explained by light Majorana fermions in combination with a pseudoscalar mediator. The NMSSM provides exactly these ingredients. We show that for neutralinos with a significant singlino component the galactic center excess can be linked to invisible decays of the Standard-Model-like Higgs at the LHC. We find predictions for invisible Higgs branching ratios in excess of 50 percent, easily accessible at the LHC. Constraining the NMSSM through GUT-scale boundary conditions only slightly affects this expectation. Our results complemen…
The Schechter-Valle theorem states that a positive observation of neutrinoless double-beta ($0νββ$) decays implies a finite Majorana mass term for neutrinos when any unlikely fine-tuning or cancellation is absent. In this note, we reexamine the quantitative impact of the Schechter-Valle theorem, and find that current experimental lower limits on the half-lives of $0νββ$-decaying nuclei have placed a restrictive upper bound on the Majorana neutrino mass $|δm^{ee}_ν| < 7.43 \times 10^{-29}~{\rm eV}$ radiatively generated at the four-loop level. Furthermore, we generalize this quantitative analys…
Electron beam fixed target experiments such as NA64 and LDMX use missing energy-momentum to detect the production of dark matter and other long-lived states. The most studied production mechanism is dark Bremsstrahlung through a vector mediator. In this work, we explore a complementary source of missing energy-momentum signals: Bremsstrahlung photons can convert to hard vector mesons in exclusive photoproduction processes, which then decay to dark matter or other invisible particles, such as neutrinos. We find that existing NA64 data can improve the leading constraints on invisible light vecto…
We survey a few minimal scalar extensions of the standard electroweak model that provide a simple setup for massive neutrinos in connection with an invisible axion. The presence of a chiral $U(1)$ à la Peccei-Quinn drives the pattern of Majorana neutrino masses while providing a dynamical solution to the strong CP problem and an axion as a dark matter candidate. We paradigmatically apply such a renormalizable framework to type-II seesaw and to two viable models for neutrino oscillations where the neutrino masses arise at one and two loops, respectively. We comment on the naturalness of the eff…
In this work we study the current bounds from the CEνNS process and meson invisible decays on generic neutrino interactions with sterile neutrinos in effective field theories. The interactions between quarks and left-handed SM neutrinos and/or right-handed neutrinos are first described by the low-energy effective field theory (LNEFT) between the electroweak scale and the chiral symmetry breaking scale. We complete the independent operator basis for the LNEFT up to dimension-6 by including both the lepton-number-conserving (LNC) and lepton-number-violating (LNV) operators involving right-handed…
Lepton number violation (LNV) can be induced by Majorana neutrinos in four-body decays of the neutral B meson and the top quark. We study the effects of Majorana neutrinos in these |ΔL|=2 decays in an scenario where a single heavy neutrino can enhance the amplitude via the resonant mechanism. Using current bounds on heavy neutrino mixings, the most optimistic branching ratios turn out to be at the level of 10^{-6} for \bar{B} -> D^+e^-e^-π^+ and t -> bl^+l^+W^- decays. Searches for these LNV decays at future facilities can provide complementary constraints on masses and mixings of Majorana neu…
Lepton-number violation can be induced by the exchange of an on-shell Majorana neutrino $N$ in semileptonic $|ΔL|=2$ decays of the $B_s$ meson, $B_s^0 \to P^-π^-μ^+ μ^+$ with $P=K, D_s$. We investigate the production of such a heavy sterile neutrino through these four-body $μ^+μ^+$ channels and explore the sensitivity that can be reached at the LHCb and CMS experiments. For heavy neutrino lifetimes of $τ_N$ = [1, 100, 1000] ps and integrated luminosities collected of 10 and 50 fb${}^{-1}$ at the LHCb and 30, 300, and 3000 fb${}^{-1}$ at the CMS, we find a significant sensitivity on branching f…
We investigate the possible contribution of Majorana neutrinos to $B$ meson decays in an effective interaction formalism, in the mass range $0.5$ GeV $<m_N<5 $ GeV. We study the decay of the $B^-$ meson via $B^- \to μ^- μ^- π^+$ at LHCb, which is a signal for leptonic number violation and the presence of Majorana neutrinos, and put bounds on different new physics contributions, characterized by their Dirac-Lorentz structure. We also study the bounds imposed by the radiative $B$ decay ($B^- \rightarrow μ^- νγ$) results from Belle. The obtained bounds are more restrictive than previous values fo…
This paper reviews some aspects of the physics of neutrinos, in particular neutrino masses and the issue of Dirac versus Majorana neutrinos. The see-saw mechanism is described and it is argued that the Majorana nature of neutrinos can be tested by measuring the invisible decays of the Higgs particle, as its decay into neutrinos is determined by their Yukawa couplings, i.e. the Dirac masses, rather than the physical Majorana masses. The measurement would allow us to probe the scale M of the large Majorana masses for right-handed singlet neutrinos. The optimal machine for performing such a measu…
We review the detection of the Delta L=2 semileptonic meson decays of the form M(+) -> M'(-) lepton(+) lepton(-) that we studied in a previous work, mediated by a Majorana neutrino with a mass in the range between the masses of the initial and final mesons. For such range of masses, the Majorana neutrino will go on its mass shell and the two charged leptons will appear at displaced vertices or, if the lifetime is long enough, most secondary vertices will fall outside the detector. We study the consequences of this effect on the experimental searches and limits that can be extracted.
The possible existence of Majorana neutrinos can be tested through the study of processes where the total lepton number $L$ is violated by two units ($ΔL=2$). In this work, the production of an on-shell Majorana neutrino with a mass around $\sim$ 0.2 GeV to a few GeV is studied in $ΔL= 2$ decays of the $B_c$ meson. We focus on the same-sign di-muon channels: three-body $B_c^- \to π^+μ^-μ^-$ and four-body $B_c^- \to J/ψπ^+μ^-μ^-$ and their experimental sensitivity at the LHCb. In both channels, we find that sensitivities on the branching fraction of the order $\lesssim 10^{-7} \ (10^{-8})$ migh…
We study the invisible scalar of $S$ in charmed meson and baryon decays with flavor-changing neutral currents (FCNCs) based on the model-independent effective Lagrangian between the quarks and invisible scalar. From the bounds of the coupling constants extracted from the recent BES III experiment on the decay of $D^{0}\toπ^{0}\barνν$, we predict that the decay branching ratios of $D^{+}\toπ^{+}S$, $D_s^+\to K^+S$, $Λ_c\to pS$, $Ξ_c^{0(+)}\to Σ^{0(+)}S$, and $Ξ_c^0\toΛS$ can be as large as $10.6,~2.53,~2.39,~0.963,~5.77$, and $2.92\times10^{-4}$ with $m_{_S}\approx 1.1~{\rm GeV}$, respectively.…
We consider effects of coloured scalar mediators in decays $c\to u \, {\it invisibles}$. In particular, in these processes, as invisibles, we consider massive right-handed fermions. The coloured scalar $\bar S_1\equiv (\bar 3, 1, -2/3)$, due to its coupling to weak singlets up-quarks and invisible right-handed fermions ($χ$), is particularly interesting. Then, we consider $\tilde R_2 \equiv (\bar 3, 2, 1/6)$, which as a weak doublet is a subject of severe low-energy constraints. The $χ$ mass is considered in the range $(m_K - m_π)/2\leq m_χ\leq (m_D - m_π)/2$. We determine branching ratios for…
WIMPless dark matter offers an attractive framework in which dark matter can be very light. We investigate the implications of such scenarios on invisible decays of bottomonium states for dark matter with a mass less than around $5 {\rm GeV}$. We relate these decays to measurements of nucleon-dark matter elastic scattering. We also investigate the effect that a coupling to $s$ quarks has on flavor changing $b\to s$ processes involving missing energy.
We investigate the possibility of a fourth sequential generation in the lepton sector. Assuming neutrinos to be Majorana particles and starting from a recent - albeit weak - evidence for a non-zero admixture of a fourth generation neutrino from fits to weak lepton and meson decays we discuss constraints from neutrinoless double beta decay, radiative lepton decay and like-sign di-lepton production at hadron colliders.
We show that the standard model (SM)-like Higgs boson may decay into neutrinos with a sizable decay branching ratio in one well-known two Higgs doublet model, so-called neutrinophilic Higgs model. This could happen if the mass of the lighter extra neutral Higgs boson is smaller than one half of the SM-like Higgs boson mass. The definite prediction of this scenario is that the rate of the SM-like Higgs boson decay into diphoton normalized by the SM value is about 0.9. In the case that a neutrino is Majorana particle, a displaced vertex of right-handed neutrino decay would be additionally observ…
This paper is designed to calculate the branching ratio of four-body decays of $B$ meson with lepton number changed by 2. With the new experimental data limit to lepton-number violation processes, we update the upper limits of mixing parameters between heavy Majorana neutrino and charged leptons. Afterwards, we calculate the branching ratio of $B^0(P)\rightarrow D^{*-}(P_1)\ell^+_1(P_2)\ell^+_2(P_3)M_2^-(P_4)$ using the updated parameters. It is found that the most hopeful decay channel is $B^0(P)\rightarrow D^{*-}(P_1)e^+_1(P_2)e^+_2(P_3)ρ^-(P_4)$ or $B^0(P)\rightarrow D^{*-}(P_1)e(μ)^+_1(P_2…
An observation of any lepton number violating process will undoubtedly point towards the existence of new physics and indirectly to the clear Majorana nature of the exchanged fermion. In this work, we explore the potential of a minimal extension of the Standard Model via heavy sterile fermions with masses in the $[ 0.1 - 10]$ GeV range concerning an extensive array of "neutrinoless" meson and tau decay processes. We assume that the Majorana neutrinos are produced on-shell, and focus on three-body decays. We conduct an update on the bounds on the active-sterile mixing elements, $|U_{\ell_α4} U_…
Within the framework of physics beyond the standard model we study the possibility that mesons produced in the atmosphere by the cosmic ray flux, decay to heavy Majorana neutrino and these mostly to photons in the low mass region. We study the photon flux produced by sterile Majorana neutrinos ($N$) decaying after passing through a massive and opaque object such as a mountain. In order to model the production of $N$'s in the atmosphere and their decay to photons, we consider the interaction between the Majorana neutrinos and the standard matter as modeled by an effective theory. We then calcul…
Lepton number violation processes can be induced by the Majorana neutrino exchange, which provide evidence for the Majorana nature of neutrinos. In addition to the natural explanation of the small neutrino masses, Type-I seesaw mechanism predicts the existence of Majorana neutrinos. The aim of this work is to study the B meson rare decays $B^{+} \to K^{(*)+}μ^+μ^-$ in the standard model and its extensions, and then to investigate the same-sign decay processes $B^{+}\to K^{(*)-}μ^{+}μ^+$. The corresponding dilepton invariant mass distributions are predicted. It is found that the dilepton angula…
We probe the effective field theory extending the Standard Model with a sterile neutrino in B meson decays at B factories and lepton colliders, using angular and polarization observables. We put bounds on different effective operators characterized by their distinct Dirac-Lorentz structure, and probe the $N$-mediated B decays sensitivity to these interactions. We define a Forward-Backward asymmetry $A_{FB}^{\ell γ}$ between the muon and photon directions for the $B \to μνγ$ decay, which allows us to separate the SM contribution from the effective lepton number conserving and violating processe…
The lepton-number-violating decays of $B^+, D^+$ and $D_s^+$ mesons induced by the doubly charged Higgs boson have been studied. It is found that although the yielded results of the branch ratio are much smaller than the present limits from the data they are consistent with the previous conclusions calculated in the framwork of relativistic quark model where the processes happened via the light Majorana neutrinos.
Recent studies of novel four-body lepton number violating decays of $τ$ leptons and neutral $B$ mesons are summarized and updated. These decays are assumed to be enhanced by the exchange of resonant Majorana neutrinos. It is shown that the $τ^- \to π^+l^-l^-ν_τ$ decay channels, with $l=e$ or $μ$, can provide stronger constraints on the mixing vs. mass parameter space of resonant Majorana neutrinos than analogous three-body decays of charged $B$ mesons.
Motivated by the recent investigation of neutrinoless $τ$-lepton decays by the CLEO collaboration, we perform a systematic analysis of such decays in a possible new-physics scenario with heavy Dirac/Majorana neutrinos, including heavy-neutrino nondecoupling effects, finite quark masses, and quark as well as meson mixings. We find that $τ$-lepton decays into an electron or muon and a pseudoscalar or vector meson can have branching ratios close to the experimental sensitivity. Numerical estimates show that the predominant decay modes of this kind are $τ^-\to e^-ϕ$, $τ^-\to e^-ρ^0$, and $τ^-\to e…
We investigate the possibility of a fourth sequential generation in the lepton sector. Assuming neutrinos to be Majorana particles and starting from a recent - albeit weak - evidence for a non-zero admixture of a fourth generation neutrino from fits to weak lepton and meson decays we discuss constraints from neutrinoless double beta decay, radiative lepton decay and like-sign dilepton production at hadron colliders. Also an idea for fourth generation neutrino mass model building is briefly outlined. Here we soften the large hierarchy of the neutrino masses within an extradimensional model that…
Kinematic variables designed for pairwise decays to partly undetected final states -- a prominent example being $M_{T2}$ and its Lorentz-invariant version $M_2$ -- have been extensively deployed in high-$p_T$ collider searches. A new range of potential applications at flavour facilities -- where $B$ mesons or $τ$ leptons are also pairwise produced -- was recently proposed. One general challenge in these decays arises if both the signal parent and the 'other' parent, often used as a tag, decay semi-invisibly. In such cases, which notably include semi-leptonic tags, signal identification is gene…
We study the rare decays of charged π mesons, π+ to e+ e+ μ- anti-ν_μ and π+ to e+ μ- e+ ν_e, induced by a sterile neutrino N with a mass in the range m_μ< m_N < m_π. The first process violates Lepton Number by two units and so occurs only if N is Majorana, while the second process conserves Lepton Number and occurs irrespective of the Majorana or Dirac character of N. We study a way to distinguish the Majorana vs. Dirac character of N in these processes using the muon spectrum. We also find that the branching ratios could be at the reach of high luminosity experiments like Project X at FNAL o…
Several beyond the Standard Model scenarios introduce new heavy neutrinos, whose Dirac or Majorana nature could be tested by comparing the rates of lepton number violating and lepton number conserving processes: a Dirac fermion induces only the latter, while a Majorana one predicts the same rate for both of them. Nevertheless, in the presence of more than one Majorana fermion, this picture may change drastically due to interference effects. We focus on lepton number violating and lepton flavour violating semileptonic meson decays induced by two heavy Majorana fermions, exploring the necessary …
Goldstone boson decays of P-wave $D_s^{**}$ mesons are studied within the framework of Heavy Hadron Chiral Perturbation Theory. We first analyze the simplest single kaon decays of these strange charmed mesons. We derive a model independent prediction for the width of $D_{s2}$ and use experimental information on $D_{s1}$ to constrain the S-wave contribution to $D_1^0$ decay. Single and double pion decay modes are then discussed and shown to be significantly restricted by isospin conservation. We conclude that the pion channels may offer the best hope for detecting one strange member of an other…
The Majorana nature of neutrinos can be experimentally verified only via {\it lepton-number} violating processes involving charged leptons. We study 36 lepton-number violating ($\lv$) processes from the decays of tau leptons and pseudoscalar mesons. These decays are absent in the Standard Model but, in presence of Majorana neutrinos in the mass range $\sim 100 \mev$ to $5 \gev$, the rates for these processes would be enhanced due to their resonant contribution. We calculate the transition rates and branching fractions and compare them to the current bounds from direct experimental searches for…
In this article we study the rare B-meson decay via two on-shell almost-degenerate Majorana Heavy Neutrinos, into two charged leptons and two pseudoscalar mesons ($B^{\pm} \to D^0 \ell^{\pm}_1 \ell^{\pm}_2 π^{\mp}$). We consider the scenario where the heavy neutrino masses are $\sim 2$ GeV and the heavy-light mixing coefficients are $|B_{\ell N}|^2 \sim 10^{-5}$, and evaluate the possibility to measure the CP-asymmetry at Belle II. We present some realistic conditions under which the asymmetry could be detected.
We consider a scenario of Low Scale Seesaw where the masses of its heavy Majorana neutrinos are arranged in a pattern of three pairs of quasi degenerate ones, in the range of O(1-6 GeV). Since they can violate lepton number by two units, they contribute to rare decays of Ds and Bc mesons, providing, besides, conditions for maximal CP violation. We found that new phenomenology is possible depending on how many of on-shell pairs mediate these decays. In particular, we present new constraints on muon-heavy neutrinos mixing parameters.

Neutrinoless hadron Lepton Number Violating (LNV) decays can be induced by virtual Majorana neutrino, which in turn indubitably show the Majorana nature of neutrinos. Many three-body LNV processes and Lepton Flavour Violating (LFV) processes have been studied extensively in theory and by experiment. As a supplement, we here study 75 four-body LNV (LFV) processes from heavy pseudoscalar $B$ and $D$ decays. Most of these processes have not been studied in theory and searched for in experiment, while they may have sizable decay rates. Since the four-body decay modes have the same vertexes and mix…
We hunt for and discuss manifestly CP-violating effects which are mediated by Majorana phases. These phases are present if the Standard Model neutrinos are Majorana particles. We argue that while Majorana phases do affect the strength of neutrinoless double beta decay (a well known fact), they do so in a way that involves no manifest violation of CP. The conditions for manifestly CP-violating phenomena -- differences between the rates for CP-mirror-image processes -- are presented, and three examples are discussed: (i) neutrino-antineutrino oscillation; (ii) rare decays of K and B mesons and t…
