In this article we study the rare B-meson decay via two on-shell almost-degenerate Majorana Heavy Neutrinos, into two charged leptons and two pseudoscalar mesons ($B^{\pm} \to D^0 \ell^{\pm}_1 \ell^{\pm}_2 π^{\mp}$). We consider the scenario where the heavy neutrino masses are $\sim 2$ GeV and the heavy-light mixing coefficients are $|B_{\ell N}|^2 \sim 10^{-5}$, and evaluate the possibility to measure the CP-asymmetry at Belle II. We present some realistic conditions under which the asymmetry could be detected.
In this work, we study the lepton number violating tau decays via two intermediate on-shell Majorana neutrinos $N_j$ into two charged pions, and a charged lepton $τ^{\pm} \to π^{\pm} N_j \to π^{\pm} π^{\pm} \ell^{\mp}$. We consider the scenario where the heavy neutrino masses are within $0.5$ GeV $\leq M_N \leq 1.5$ GeV. We evaluated the possibility to measure the modulation of the decay width along the detector length for these processes at taus factories, such as Belle II. We study some realistic conditions which could lead to the observation of this phenomenon at futures $τ$'s factories.
The inelastic dark matter model is one kind of popular models for the light dark matter (DM) below $O(1)$ GeV. If the mass splitting between DM excited and ground states is small enough, the co-annihilation becomes the dominant channel for thermal relic density and the DM excited state can be long-lived at the collider scale. We study scalar and fermion inelastic dark matter models for $ {\cal O}(1) $ GeV DM at Belle II with $ U(1)_D $ dark gauge symmetry broken into its $Z_2$ subgroup. We focus on dilepton displaced vertex signatures from decays of the DM excited state. With the help of preci…
A range of flavour physics observables show tensions with their corresponding Standard Model expectations: measurements of leptonic flavour-changing neutral current processes and ratios of semi-leptonic branching fractions involving different generations of leptons show deviations of the order of four standard deviations. If confirmed, either would be an intriguing sign of new physics. In this manuscript, we analyse the current experimental situation of such processes and for the first time estimate the combined impact of the future datasets of the Belle II and LHCb experiments on the present …
We propose a new search for light scalar singlets in rare meson decays. For tiny interactions, the scalar is long-lived at detector scales and decays into displaced pairs of leptons or light mesons. We show that Belle II has a remarkable potential to probe scalars in the GeV range with couplings as small as $10^{-5}$. The predicted sensitivity is higher than at the long-baseline experiments FASER and NA62. We also investigate signatures of invisibly decaying scalars in rare meson decays with missing energy.
A simultaneous fit is performed to the $e^+e^-\to Λ_c^+Λ_c^-$ cross section data measured by Belle and BESIII from threshold up to 5.4 GeV. In order to accommodate both the BESIII measurement near threshold and the Belle observation of a resonance $Y(4630)$, we build a composite PDF with a Breit-Wigner resonance and a continuum contribution to model the full cross section line shape of $e^+e^-\to Λ_c^+Λ_c^-$. The fit gives a mass of $M=[4636.1_{-7.2}^{+9.8} ($stat$)\pm 8.0($syst$)]$~MeV/$c^2$, a width of $Γ_{\rm tot}=[34.5_{-16.2}^{+21.0} ($stat$)\pm 5.6($syst$)]$~MeV, and $Γ_{e^+ e^-}\mathcal…
We report on the extrapolated measurements related to the flavour-changing-neutral-current(FCNC) $b\rightarrow s$ and $b\rightarrow d$ transitions with the Belle II data. The branching fraction(BF) and raw asymmetry measurements of the exclusive decay $\bar{B}\rightarrow X_{q}γ$, time-dependent $CP$ asymmetry in the transition $b\rightarrow sγ$, angular analysis of $B\rightarrow K^*ll$ and $B\rightarrow X_sll$ are discussed. We also report on the searches for the decay $B\rightarrow hνν$. Most of these analyses are extrapolated with 5 and 50 ab$^{-1}$ Belle II data.
Motivated by the possibility of the low value of sin2βin the measurements of BABAR and BELLE collaborations, we have explored the possibilty of construction of reference unitarity triangle using the unitarity of the CKM matrix, the existence of nonzero CP violating phase δand the experimental values of the well known CKM elements, without involving any inputs from the processes which might include the new physics effects. The angles of the reference triangle are evaluated by finding δthrough the Jarlskog's rephasing invariant parameter J. The present data and the unitarity of the CKM matrix gi…
In view of the projected high number of produced $B$ mesons in Belle II experiment ($\sim 10^{10}$ per year), in addition to the presently ongoing LHC-b, we calculate the rate of decay for the rare decays of $B$ mesons via a sterile on-shell neutrino $N$, which subsequently may decay leptonically or semileptonically within the detector: $B \to (D^{(*)}) \ell_1^{\pm} N$, then $N \to \ell_1^{\pm} \ell_2^{\mp} ν$ or $N \to \ell^{\pm} π^\mp$. Here, $\ell_1 \not= \ell_2$ in order to avoid serious QED background. We account for the possible effects of the strong neutrino lifetime on the observabilit…
The experimental measurements of flavor-changing neutral-current B-meson decays governed by b --> s + (gamma, l^+ l^-) transitions have entered a new level of precision. Recent results by Belle, CDF, Babar, and LHCb on B -->K^(*) l^+ l^- and B_s --> mu^+ mu^- decays are used in model-(in)dependent analyses to test the Standard Model predictions and to derive stronger constraints on nonstandard contributions. While in agreement with the Standard Model, they still leave sizable room for new physics.
We present an extensive analysis of rare K decays, in particular of the two neutrino modes K+->pi+ nu nu-bar and KL->pi0 nu nu-bar, in the Minimal Supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model. We analyse the expectations for the branching ratios of these modes, both within the restrictive framework of the minimal flavour violation hypothesis and within a more general framework with new sources of flavour-symmetry breaking. In both scenarios, the information that can be extracted from precise measurements of the two neutrino modes turn out to be very useful in restricting the parameter space …
We study effects of supersymmetric particles in various rare B decay processes as well as in the unitarity triangle analysis. We consider three different supersymmetric models, the minimal supergravity, SU(5) SUSY GUT with right-handed neutrinos, and the minimal supersymmetric standard model with U(2) flavor symmetry. In the SU(5) SUSY GUT with right-handed neutrinos, we consider two cases of the mass matrix of the right-handed neutrinos. We calculate direct and mixing-induced CP asymmetries in the b to s gamma decay and CP asymmetry in B_d to phi K_S as well as the B_s--anti-B_s mixing amplit…
The recent measurements on $R_D$, $R_{D^*}$ and $R_{J/ψ}$ by three pioneering experiments, BaBar, Belle and LHCb, indicate that the notion of lepton flavour universality is violated in the weak charged-current processes, mediated through $b \to c \ell \bar ν_\ell$ transitions. These intriguing results, which delineate a tension with their standard model predictions at the level of $(2-3)σ$ have triggered many new physics propositions in recent times, and are generally attributed to the possible implication of new physics in $ b \to c τ\bar ν$ transition. This, in turn, opens up another avenue,…
We consider light neutralinos of mass about 1 GeV, produced from $τ$ lepton rare decays at Belle II, in the context of R-parity-violating (RPV) supersymmetry. With large and clean samples of $τ$ leptons produced at the Belle II experiment, excellent sensitivity to such light neutralinos with the exotic signatures of displaced vertices is expected. We focus on two benchmark scenarios of single RPV operators, $λ'_{311} L_3 Q_1 \bar{D}_1$ and $λ'_{312} L_3 Q_1 \bar{D}_2$, which induce both the production and decay of the lightest neutralino. For the reconstruction of a displaced vertex, we requir…
We study rare radiative leptonic decays $B_{(s)}\to e^+e^-γ$ and $B_{(s)}\to μ^+μ^-γ$ within relativistic quark model. In addition to previous analysis we give the estimations of the branching ratios for four values of the minimal photon energy, which correspond to photon selection criteria of the Belle and LHCb detectors. We find out that the branching ratios only slightly change. The highest values corresponding to $E^γ_{min}=80 \textrm{MeV}$ are ${\cal B}(\bar B^0_s\to e^+e^-γ)=18.5\times10^{-9}$ and ${\cal B}(B^0_s\to μ^+μ^-γ)=11.9\times10^{-9}$. We present the distribution of the forward-…
B-meson decays play an important role in flavour physics. The $B \rightarrow πK$ decays are dominated by QCD loop diagrams (penguins) but also electroweak penguins, where New Physics may enter, have a significant impact on the decay amplitude. Since measurements from B-factories indicate deviations from the Standard Model picture, we perform a state-of-the-art analysis to explore the correlation of the CP asymmetries and to get an updated picture. We propose a strategy for the optimal determination of the parameters which describe electroweak penguin effects and apply it to current data, utili…
The current wealth of charmless B decay data may suggest the presence of final state rescattering. In a factorized amplitude approach, better fits are found by incorporating two SU(3) rescattering phase differences, giving delta ~ 65 degree and sigma ~ 90 - 100 degree. Fitting with unitarity phase phi_3 as a fit parameter gives phi_3 ~ 96 degree, the CP asymmetries A_{pi pi}, S_{pi pi} agree better with BaBar, and the sigma phase is slightly lower. Keeping phi_3 = 60 degree fixed in fit gives S_{pi pi} ~-0.9, which agrees better with Belle. With the sizable delta, sigma rescattering phases as …
In this white paper for the Snowmass process, we review the status and prospects of the field of rare decays of b and c hadrons. The role that rare decays play in the search for physics beyond the Standard Model is emphasised. We stress the complementarity of a large set of relevant processes and outline the most promising directions. The experimental opportunities at Belle II, BES III, ATLAS, CMS, LHCb, and at future machines are discussed. We also summarize the challenges that need to be addressed on the theory side to achieve theory uncertainties for rare decays that match the expected expe…
We compare the Standard Model (SM) predictions for the differential branching ratio of the rare $B\to K^*ν\barν$ decays using $B \to K^*$ form factors obtained from holographic light-front QCD (hLFQCD) and Sum Rules (SR) Distribution Amplitudes. For the total branching ratio, we predict $\mathcal{BR}(\process)_{\rm hLFQCD}=(6.36^{+0.59}_{-0.74})\times 10^{-6}$ and $\mathcal{BR}(\process)_{\rm SR}=(8.14^{+0.16}_{- 0.17})\times 10^{-6}$. More interestingly, we find that the two model predictions for the differential branching ratio are sufficiently different at low momentum transfer, so that fut…
We review some selected rare B decays calculated in next-to-leading order accuracy in the Standard Model (SM). These include the radiative decays $B \to (X_s,K^*,ρ)γ$ and the semileptonic decays $B \to (X_s,K,K^*) \ell^+ \ell^-$, for which new data from the BABAR and BELLE collaborations have been presented at this conference. SM is in agreement with the current measurements within the theoretical and experimental errors. The impact of rare B-decays on the CKM phenomenology is quantitatively discussed.

Recently, Belle Collaboration has reported the measurement of the spin-flipping transition $Υ(4S) \to h_b(1P)η$ with an unexpectedly large branching ratio: $\mathcal{B}(Υ(4S) \to h_b(1P)η) =(2.18\pm 0.11\pm 0.18)\times 10^{-3}$. Such a large branching fraction contradicts with the anticipated suppression for the spin flip. In this work, we examine the effects induced by intermediate bottomed meson loops and point out that these effects are significantly important. Using the effective Lagrangian approach (ELA), we find the experimental data on $Υ(4S) \to h_b(1P)η$ can be accommodated with the r…
We review the phenomenology of the rare decay \bar B -> X_s l+ l-. We present the results of a detailed phenomenological analysis and discuss the role of the decay in the search for new physics at present and future colliders. Moreover, we extensively elaborate on the size of electromagnetic logarithms ln(m_b^2/m_l^2) in view of experimental cuts. We point out the differences in the analyses of BaBar and Belle and give suggestions on how to treat collinear photons in the experimental analyses. These recommendations correspond precisely to theoretical prescriptions and can be combined with meas…
We study rare three-body decays of the Omega baryon using SU(3) chiral perturbation theory, the successful effective field theory of quantum chromodynamics at low energies. At leading order, we calculate the branching fractions of the decay $Ω^- \to Ξππ$ for all possible combinations of pions. For one channel we find an order-of-magnitude discrepancy between theory and experiment. This tension is known to exist in the non-relativistic limit, and we confirm that it remains in the relativistic calculation. Fairly independent of the values of the low-energy constants we establish lower limits for…
$L_μ-L_τ$ gauge boson ($Z'$) with a mass in the MeV to GeV region can resolve not only the muon $g-2$ excess, but also the gap in the high-energy cosmic neutrino spectrum at IceCube. It was recently proposed that such a light gauge boson can be detected during the Belle II experiment with a luminosity of 50 ab$^{-1}$ by the $e^+ e^- \to γ+\slashed{E}$ process through the kinetic mixing with the photon, where the missing energy $\slashed{E}$ is from the $Z' \to \barνν$ decays. We study the phenomenological implications when a pair of singlet vector-like leptons carrying different $L_μ- L_τ$ cha…
Rare charm decays offer the unique possibility to explore flavour-changing neutral-currents in the up-sector within the Standard Model and beyond. Due to the lack of effective methods to reliably describe its low energy dynamics, rare charm decays have been considered as less promising for long. However, this lack does not exclude the possibility to perform promising searches for New Physics per se, but a different philosophy of work is required. Exact or approximate symmetries of the Standard Model allow to construct clean null-test observables, yielding an excellent road to the discovery of …
In this work, the lepton-number-violating processes in $|ΔL|=2$ decays of $Λ_b^0$ baryon, $Λ_b^0 \to p π^+μ^- μ^-$ and $Λ_b^0 \to Λ_c^+ π^+μ^- μ^-$, are investigated for the first time, via an intermediate on-shell Majorana neutrino $N$ with a mass in the GeV scale. We explore the experimental sensitivity of these dimuon channels at the LHCb and CMS experiments, in which heavy neutrino lifetimes in the accessible ranges of $τ_N = [1, 100, 1000]$ ps are considered. For a integrated luminosity collected of 10 and 50 fb${}^{-1}$ at the LHCb and 30, 300 and 3000 fb${}^{-1}$ at the CMS, we found si…
In light of recent experimental information from the CLEO, BaBar, KTeV, and Belle collaborations, we investigate some consequences of the possibility that a light spin-one particle is responsible for the three Sigma^+ -> p mu^+ mu^- events observed by the HyperCP experiment. In particular, allowing the new particle to have both vector and axial-vector couplings to ordinary fermions, we systematically study its contributions to various processes involving b-flavored mesons, including B-Bbar mixing as well as leptonic, inclusive, and exclusive B decays. Using the latest experimental data, we ext…
We give a status report on inclusive rare B decays, highlighting recent developments and open problems. We focus on the decay modes $B \to X_{s,d} γ$, $ B \to X_s \ell^+\ell^-$ and $B \to X_s ν\bar ν$ and on their role in the search for new physics. Most of the inclusive rare B decays are important modes of flavour physics due to the small hadronic uncertainties. They can be regarded as laboratories to search for new physics. We collect the experimental data already available from CLEO and the $B$ factories BABAR and BELLE. We review the NLL and NNLL QCD calculations of the inclusive decay rat…
The decay $B^0_d \to D^+ D^-$ offers an interesting probe of CP violation, but requires control of penguin effects, which can be done through $B^0_s \to D^+_s D^-_s$ by means of the $U$-spin flavour symmetry of strong interactions. Recently, the Belle collaboration reported indications of large CP violation in the $B^0_d$ decay, which were, however, not confirmed by BaBar, and first signals of the $B^0_s$ channel were observed at the Tevatron. In view of these developments and the quickly approaching start of the LHC, we explore the allowed region in observable space for CP violation in $B^0_d…
Rare semileptonic decays of B and B_c mesons are investigated in the framework of the QCD-motivated relativistic quark model based on the quasipotential approach. Form factors parametrizing the matrix elements of the weak transitions between corresponding meson states are calculated with the complete account of the relativistic effects including contributions of intermediate negative energy states and relativistic transformations of the meson wave functions. The momentum transfer dependence of the form factors is reliably determined in the whole accessible kinematical range. On this basis the …
Rare inclusive $B$ decays such as $\bar{B}\to X_{s(d)} \ell^+\ell^-$ are interesting probes for physics beyond the Standard Model. Due to the complementarity to their exclusive counterparts, they might shed light on the anomalies currently seen in exclusive $b \to s$ transitions. Distinguishing new-physics effects from the Standard Model requires precise predictions and necessitates the control of long distance effects. In the present work we revisit and improve the description of various long distance effects in inclusive decays such as charmonium and light-quark resonances, nonfactorisable p…
We analyze patterns from CP-violating new physics (NP) in hadronic and semileptonic rare charm $\vert Δc \vert=\vert Δu\vert=1$ transitions. Observation of direct CP-violation in hadronic decays, as in $ΔA_{\text{CP}}$, provides opportunities for $c \to u \,\ell^+ \ell^-$, $\ell=e,μ$ transitions, and vice versa. For the concrete case of flavorful, anomaly-free $Z^\prime$-models a NP-interpretation of $ΔA_{\text{CP}}$ suggests measurable CP-asymmetries in semileptonic decays such as $D \to π\, \ell^+ \ell^-$ or $D \to ππ\, \ell^+ \ell^-$. Conversely, an observation of CP-violation in $c \to u\,…
The newly observed $X, Y, Z$ exotic states are definitely not in the standard $Q\bar Q'$ structures, thus their existence composes a challenge to our understanding on the fundamental principles of hadron physics. Therefore the studies on their decay patterns which are determined by the non-perturbative QCD will definitely shed light on the concerned physics. Generally the four-quark states might be in a molecular state or tetraquark or their mixture. In this work, we adopt the suggestion that $Y(4630)$ is a charmonium-like tetraquark made of a diquark and an anti-diquark. If it is true, its fa…
A resonance $Y(4630)$ at the invariant mass spectrum of $Λ_c \barΛ_c$ observed by the Belle Collaboration triggers a hot discussion about its inner structure. Since it preferably decays into two charmed baryons $Λ_c\barΛ_c$, it is tempted to conjecture it as a tetraquark. Because the dominant decay portal $Y(4630)\to Λ_c \barΛ_c$ is close to the energy threshold, the final state interactions may be significant and result in other baryonic and/or mesonic final states whose branching fractions are sizable to be measured in the future experiments. In this work we calculate the branching ratios of…
Production of $f_0(1710)$, a theoretical endeavor of pure scalar glueball state, is studied in detail from exclusive rare B decay within the framework of perturbative QCD. The branching fraction for $B^\pm \to K^{*\pm} f_0(1710) \to K^{*\pm} (K \bar K)$ is estimated to be about $8 \times 10^{-6}$, while for $B^\pm \to K^\pm f_0(1710) \to K^\pm (K \bar K)$ it is smaller by roughly an order of magnitude. With the accumulation of almost 1 billion $B \bar B$ pairs from the B{\tiny A}B{\tiny AR} and Belle experiments to date, hunting for a scalar glueball via these rare decay modes should be attain…
We study the effect of scalar leptoquarks in the lepton flavour violating $B$ meson decays induced by the flavour changing transitions $b \to q l_i^+ l_j^-$ with $q=s,d$. In the standard model these transitions are extremely rare as they are either two-loop suppressed or proceed via box diagrams with tiny neutrino masses in the loop. However, in the leptoquark model they can occur at tree level and are expected to have significantly large branching ratios. The leptoquark parameter space is constrained using the experimental limits on the branching ratios of $B_q \rightarrow l^+ l^-$ processes.…
The $B^0_{s,d} \to J/ψη^{(\prime)}$ decays provide new terrain for exploring CP violation. After briefly discussing $η$-$η'$ mixing, we analyse the effective lifetimes and CP-violating observables of the $B_s$ channels, which allow us to probe New-Physics effects in $B^0_s$-$\bar B^0_s$ mixing. We have a critical look at these observables and show how hadronic corrections can be controlled by means of the $B_d$ decays. Using measurements of the $B^0_{s,d}\to J/ψη^{(\prime)}$ branching ratios by the Belle collaboration, we discuss tests of the $SU(3)_F$ flavour symmetry of strong interactions, …
Experimental era of rare $B$-decays started with the measurement of $B \to K^* γ$ by CLEO in 1993, followed two years later by the measurement of the inclusive decay $B \to X_s γ$, which serves as the standard candle in this field. The frontier has moved in the meanwhile to the experiments at the LHC, in particular, LHCb, with the decay $B^0 \to μ^+ μ^-$ at about 1 part in $10^{10}$ being the smallest branching fraction measured so far. Experimental precision achieved in this area has put the standard model to unprecedented stringent tests and more are in the offing in the near future. I revie…
We discuss the connections between the recently observed Higgs-like particle and rare B decays in the context of two Higgs doublet models (2HDMs). The measured decays of the Higgs boson to fermions and gauge bosons, along with the observation of the decay B_s -> μ+ μ-, place stringent restrictions on the allowed parameter space of 2 Higgs doublet models. Future measurements of h0 -> γγcan potentially exclude type I 2HDMs, while the parameters of other 2HDMs are already severely restricted. The recent observations of the h0 -> τ+ τ- and h0 -> b bbar decays further constrain the models.
Exploring correlations between the CP asymmetries of $B^0_d\toπ^0K_{\rm S}$ following from an isospin relation, we uncover new tensions with the Standard Model in data for neutral $B\toπK$ decays. Should this intriguing picture originate from New Physics, a modified electroweak penguin sector provides a key scenario. It includes models with extra $Z'$ bosons, which offer attractive ways to resolve anomalies in $B\to K^{(*)}\ell^+\ell^-$ measurements. We present a new strategy to reveal the underlying physics, apply it to current $B\toπK$ data, and discuss the excellent prospects for Belle II.
We investigate the possibility that scalar leptoquarks generate consequential effects on the flavor-changing neutral-current decays of charmed hadrons into final states with missing energy ($\not\!\!E$) carried away by either standard model or sterile neutrinos. We focus on scenarios involving the $R_2$, $\tilde R_2$, and $\bar S_1$ leptoquarks and take into account various pertinent constraints, learning that meson-mixing ones and those inferred from collider searches can be of significance. We find in particular that the branching fractions of charmed meson decays $D\to M\!\not\!\!E$, $M=π,ρ…
We consider the prospects for measuring distinctive signatures of the CP-violating phases in the minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (MSSM) in light of the limits on sparticle masses from searches at the LHC. We use the CPsuperH code to evaluate model predictions and scan the parameter space using a geometric approach that maximizes CP-violating observables subject to the current upper limits on electric dipole moments (EDMs). We focus on the possible CP-violating asymmetry $A_{\rm CP}$ in $b \to s γ$ decay and on a possible CP-violating contribution to the $B_s - \overline{…
The LHC is the new b-hadron factory and will be dominating flavour physics until the start of Belle II, and beyond in many decay modes. While the $B$ factories and Tevatron experiments are still analysing their data, ATLAS, CMS and LHCb are producing interesting new results in CP violation and rare decays, that set strong constraints on models beyond that SM and exhibit some discrepancies with the SM predictions. The LHCb collaboration used the LHC 50 ns ramp-up period of July 2015 to measure the double-differential $J/ψ$, $J/ψ$-from-$b$-hadron and charm cross-sections at $\sqrt{s} = 13$ TeV. …
We consider effects of coloured scalar mediators in decays $c\to u \, {\it invisibles}$. In particular, in these processes, as invisibles, we consider massive right-handed fermions. The coloured scalar $\bar S_1\equiv (\bar 3, 1, -2/3)$, due to its coupling to weak singlets up-quarks and invisible right-handed fermions ($χ$), is particularly interesting. Then, we consider $\tilde R_2 \equiv (\bar 3, 2, 1/6)$, which as a weak doublet is a subject of severe low-energy constraints. The $χ$ mass is considered in the range $(m_K - m_π)/2\leq m_χ\leq (m_D - m_π)/2$. We determine branching ratios for…
The anti-triplet charmed baryon decays with the light scalar mesons are rarely measured, whereas the recent observation of the Cabibbo-favored $Λ_c^+\to Ληπ^+$ decay hints a possible $Λ_c^+\toΛa_0(980)^+,a_0(980)^+\to ηπ^+$ process. We hence study the $Λ_c^+\toΛa_0(980)^+$ decay. Particularly, it is found that the final state interaction can give a significant contribution, where $Σ^{+}(1385)$ and $η$ in $Λ_c^+\to Σ^{+}(1385)η$ by exchanging a charged pion are transformed as $Λ$ and $a_0(980)^+$, respectively. Accordingly, we predict ${\cal B}(Λ_c^+\toΛa_0(980)^+)=(1.7^{+2.8}_{-1.0}\pm 0.3)\ti…
