This paper is devoted to a general solvability of a multi-dimensional backward stochastic differential equation (BSDE) of a diagonally quadratic generator $g(t,y,z)$, by relaxing the assumptions of \citet{HuTang2016SPA} on the generator and terminal value. More precisely, the generator $g(t,y,z)$ can have more general growth and continuity in $y$ in the local solution; while in the global solution, the generator $g(t,y,z)$ can have a skew sub-quadratic but in addition "strictly and diagonally" quadratic growth in the second unknown variable $z$, or the terminal value can be unbounded but the generator $g(t,y,z)$ is "diagonally dependent" on the second unknown variable $z$ (i.e., the $i$-th component $g^i$ of the generator $g$ only depends on the $i$-th row $z^i$ of the variable $z$ for each $i=1,\cdots,n$ ). Three new results are established on the local and global solutions when the terminal value is bounded and the generator $g$ is subject to some general assumptions. When the terminal value is unbounded but is of exponential moments of arbitrary order, an existence and uniqueness result is given under the assumptions that the generator $g(t,y,z)$ is Lipschitz continuous in the first unknown variable $y$, and varies with the second unknown variable $z$ in a "diagonal" , "component-wisely convex or concave", and "quadratically growing" way, which seems to be the first general solvability of systems of quadratic BSDEs with unbounded terminal values. This generalizes and strengthens some existing results via some new ideas.
A Class of Multi-dimensional Backward Stochastic Differential Equations with Singular Generators exhibiting Diagonally Quadratic Growth and Applications
The paper is concerned with adapted solution of a multi-dimensional BSDE with a "diagonally" quadratic generator, the quadratic part of whose $i$th component only depends on the $i$th row of the second unknown variable. Local and global solutions are given. In our proofs, it is natural and crucial to apply both John-Nirenberg and reverse Hölder inequalities for BMO martingales.
In this paper, we study the multi-dimensional backward stochastic differential equations (BSDEs) whose generator depends also on the mean of both variables. When the generator is diagonally quadratic, we prove that the BSDE admits a unique local solution with a fixed point argument. When the generator has a logarithmic growth of the off-diagonal elements (i.e., for each $i$, the $i$-th component of the generator has a logarithmic growth of the $j$-th row $z^j$ of the variable $z$ for each $j \neq i$), we give a new apriori estimate and obtain the existence and uniqueness of the global solution…
In this paper, we study multi-dimensional reflected backward stochastic differential equations with diagonally quadratic generators. Using the comparison theorem for diagonally quadratic BSDEs which is established recently in [14], we obtain the existence and uniqueness of a solution by a penalization method. Moreover, we provide a comparison theorem.
The present paper is devoted to study multi-dimensional coupled FBSDEs with diagonally quadratic generators. Relying on a comparison result obtained in [20], we provide conditions under which there exists a global solution. As a byproduct, we further give a comparison result for this global solution.
The present paper is devoted to the study of diagonally quadratic backward stochastic differential equation with oblique reflection. Using a penalization approach, we show the existence fo a solution by providing some delicated a priori estimates. We further obtain the uniqueness by verifying the first component of the solution is indeed the value of a switching probelm for quadratic BSDEs. Moreover, we provide an extension for the solvability and apply our results to study a risk-sensitive switching problem for functional stochastic differential equations.
In this paper, a systematic investigation is carried out for the general solvability of multi-dimensional backward stochastic Volterra integral equations (BSVIEs) with the generators being super-linear in the adjustment variable $Z$. Two major situations are discussed: (i) When the free term is bounded with the dependence of the generator on $Z$ being of ``diagonally strictly'' quadratic growth and being sub-quadratically coupled with off-diagonal components; (ii) When the free term is unbounded having exponential moments of arbitrary order with the dependence of the generator on $Z$ being dia…
This paper is devoted to study different type of BSDE with delayed generator. We first establish an existence and uniqueness result under delayed Lipschitz condition for non homogenous backward stochastic differential equation with delayed generator. Next, existence and uniqueness result for general fully coupled forward backward stochastic differential equation with delayed coefficients has been derived.
We consider a class of reflected backward doubly stochastic differential equations with time delayed generator (in short RBDSDE with time delayed generator), in this case generator at time $t$ can depend on the values of a solution in the past. Under a Lipschitz condition, we ensure the existence and uniqueness of the solution.
In this note, we study one-dimensional reflected backward doubly stochastic differential equations (RBDSDEs) with one continuous barrier and discontinuous generator (left-or right-continuous). By a comparison theorem establish here for RBDSDEs, we provide a minimal or a maximal solution to RBDSDEs
This note aims to give an explicit solution for backward stochastic Volterra integral equations with linear time delayed generators. The process $Y$ is expressed by an integral whose kernel is explicitly given. The processes $Z$ is expressed by Hida-Malliavin derivatives involving $Y$.
In this paper, we first study one-dimensional quadratic backward stochastic differential equations driven by $G$-Brownian motions ($G$-BSDEs) with unbounded terminal values. With the help of a $θ$-method of Briand and Hu [4] and nonlinear stochastic analysis techniques, we propose an approximation procedure to prove existence and uniqueness result when the generator is convex (or concave) and terminal value is of exponential moments of arbitrary order. Finally, we also establish the well-posedness of multi-dimensional G-BSDEs with diagonally quadratic generators.
The aim of the present paper is to study the regularity properties of the solution of a backward stochastic differential equation with a monotone generator in infinite dimension. We show some applications to the nonlinear Kolmogorov equation and to stochastic optimal control.
In this paper, we focus on the solvability of a class of fractional backward stochastic differential equations (BSDEs, for short) with delayed generator. In this class of equations, the generator includes not only the values of the solutions of the present but also the past. Under Lipschitz condition, the existence and uniqueness of such BSDEs are established. A comparison theorem for this class of BSDEs is also obtained.
In this paper, we study backward stochastic Volterra integral equations of type-I with time delayed generators. Under some condition (small time horizon or a Lipschitz constant), we derive an existence and uniqueness results. Next, with the help of two examples of this BSVIEs we provide this condition is necessary. However, for special class of delayed generators, the previous existence and uniqueness result hold for an arbitrary time horizon and Lipschitz constant. We end this paper by establishing under an additive assumptions, a path continuity property.
In this paper we consider two classes of backward stochastic differential equations. Firstly, under a Lipschitz-type condition on the generator of the equation, which can also be unbounded, we give sufficient conditions for the existence of a unique solution pair. The method of proof is that of Picard iterations and the resulting conditions are new. We also prove a comparison theorem. Secondly, under the linear growth and continuity assumptions on the possibly unbounded generator, we prove the existence of the solution pair. This class of equations is more general than the existing ones.
In this paper, we consider the backward stochastic differential equation (BSDE) with generator $f(y)|z|^2,$ where the function $f$ is defined on an open interval $D$ and locally integrable. The existence and uniqueness of bounded solutions and $L^p(p\geq1)$ solutions of such BSDEs are obtained. Some comparison theorems and a converse comparison theorem of such BSDEs are established. As an application, we give a probabilistic interpretation of viscosity solution of quadratic PDEs.
We deal with backward stochastic differential equations with time delayed generators. In this new type of equations, a generator at time t can depend on the values of a solution in the past, weighted with a time delay function for instance of the moving average type. We prove existence and uniqueness of a solution for a sufficiently small time horizon or for a sufficiently small Lipschitz constant of a generator. We give examples of BSDE with time delayed generators that have multiple solutions or that have no solutions. We show for some special class of generators that existence and uniquenes…
This article is devoted to study the class of backward stochastic differential equation with delayed generator. We suppose the terminal value and the generator to be $L^{p}$-integrable with $p>1$. We derive a new type of estimation related to this BSDE. Next, we establish the existence and uniqueness result in two ways. First, an approximation technics used by Briand et al. (Stochastic Process. Appl. 108 (2003) 109-129) and hence the well-know Picard iterative procedure. Using Picard iterative procedure, we revisit the result of Dos Reis et al. (Stochastic Process. Appl. 121 (9) (2011) 2114-21…
Our aim is to study the following new type of multivalued backward stochastic differential equation: \[ \left\{\begin{array} [c]{r}-dY\left(t\right) +\partialφ\left(Y\left(t\right)\right) dt\ni F\left(t,Y\left(t\right),Z\left(t\right),Y_{t},Z_{t}\right) dt+Z\left(t\right) dW\left(t\right),\;0\leq t\leq T,\medskip\\ \multicolumn{1}{l}{Y\left(T\right) =ξ,}\end{array} \right. \] where $\partialφ$ is the subdifferential of a convex function and $\left(Y_{t},Z_{t}\right):=(Y(t+θ),Z(t+θ))_{θ\in\lbrack-T,0]}$ represent the past values of the solution over the interval $\left[ 0,t\right] $. Our result…
Given $p \in (1, 2)$, we study $L^p$-solutions of a multi-dimensional backward stochastic differential equation with jumps (BSDEJ) whose generator may not be Lipschitz continuous in $(y,z)-$variables. We show that such a BSDEJ with a p-integrable terminal data admits a unique $L^p$ solution by approximating the monotonic generator by a sequence of Lipschitz generators via convolution with mollifiers and using a stability result.
In this paper, we establish a local representation theorem for generators of reflected backward stochastic differential equations (RBSDE), whose generators are continuous with linear growth. It generalizes some known representation theorems for generators of backward stochastic differential equations (BSDE). As some applications, a general converse comparison theorem for RBSDE is obtained and some properties of RBSDE are discussed.

This paper is devoted to solving a multidimensional backward stochastic differential equation with a general time interval, where the generator is uniformly continuous in $(y,z)$ non-uniformly with respect to $t$. By establishing some results on deterministic backward differential equations with general time intervals, and by virtue of Girsanov's theorem and convolution technique, we establish a new existence and uniqueness result for solutions of this kind of backward stochastic differential equations, which extends the results of Hamadene (2003) and Fan, Jiang, Tian (2011) to the general tim…
The theory of backward SDEs extends the predictable representation property of Brownian motion to the nonlinear framework, thus providing a path-dependent analog of fully nonlinear parabolic PDEs. In this paper, we consider backward SDEs, their reflected version, and their second-order extension, in the context where the final data and the generator satisfy $L^1$-type of integrability condition. Our main objective is to provide the corresponding existence and uniqueness results for general Lipschitz generators. The uniqueness holds in the so-called Doob class of processes, simultaneously under…
In this paper, we provide a one-to-one correspondence between the solution Y of a BSDE with singular terminal condition and the solution H of a BSDE with singular generator. This result provides the precise asymptotic behavior of Y close to the final time and enlarges the uniqueness result to a wider class of generators.
In this paper{\}we prove the existence of a solution for reflected backward doubly stochastic differential equations with poisson jumps (RBDSDEPs) with one continuous barrier where the generator is continuous and also we study the RBDSDEPs with a linear growth condition and left continuity in $y$ on the generator. By a comparison theorem established here for this type of equation we provide a minimal or a maximal solution to RBDSDEPs.
For a backward stochastic differential equation (BSDE, for short), when the generator is not progressively measurable, it might not admit adapted solutions, shown by an example. However, for backward stochastic Volterra integral equations (BSVIEs, for short), the generators are allowed to be anticipating. This gives, among other things, an essential difference between BSDEs and BSVIEs. Under some proper conditions, the well-posedness of such kinds of BSVIEs is established. Further, the results are extended to path-dependent BSVIEs, in which the generators can depend on the future paths of unkn…
In a recent paper, Soner, Touzi and Zhang [20] have introduced a notion of second order backward stochastic differential equations (2BSDEs for short), which are naturally linked to a class of fully non-linear PDEs. They proved existence and uniqueness for a generator which is uniformly Lipschitz in the variables $y$ and $z$. The aim of this paper is to extend these results to the case of a generator satisfying a monotonicity condition in $y$. More precisely, we prove existence and uniqueness for 2BSDEs with a generator which is Lipschitz in $z$ and uniformly continuous with linear growth in $y…
We prove the existence of a weak solution to a backward stochastic differential equation (BSDE) $$ Y_t=ξ+\int_t^T f(s,X_s,Y_s,Z_s)\,ds-\int_t^T Z_s\,d\wien_s$$ in a finite-dimensional space, where $f(t,x,y,z)$ is affine with respect to $z$, and satisfies a sublinear growth condition and a continuity condition This solution takes the form of a triplet $(Y,Z,L)$ of processes defined on an extended probability space and satisfying $$ Y_t=ξ+\int_t^T f(s,X_s,Y_s,Z_s)\,ds-\int_t^T Z_s\,d\wien_s-(L_T-L_t)$$ where $L$ is a continuous martingale which is orthogonal to any $\wien$. The solution is const…
In this paper, we consider reflected anticipated backward stochastic differential equations (RABSDEs, for short) with an additional resistance in the generators. Firstly, we study the existence and uniqueness results. In Luo (2020), the condition of a small time horizon is needed. Compared with the proving method in Luo (2020), we use a different proving method to avoid requiring the Lipschitz coefficients of generators $f(t,y,z,θ,\vartheta,m,\bar{m})$ for $y,z,θ,\vartheta$ to be small enough. We only require the Lipschitz coefficient for resistance in generator is small enough. Moreover, a pr…
We consider backward stochastic differential equations (BSDE) with nonlinear generators typically of quadratic growth in the control variable. A measure solution of such a BSDE will be understood as a probability measure under which the generator is seen as vanishing, so that the classical solution can be reconstructed by a combination of the operations of conditioning and using martingale representations. In case the terminal condition is bounded and the generator fulfills the usual continuity and boundedness conditions, we show that measure solutions with equivalent measures just reinterpret…
In this paper, we discuss the solvability of backward stochastic differential equations (BSDEs) with superquadratic generators. We first prove that given a superquadratic generator, there exists a bounded terminal value, such that the associated BSDE does not admit any bounded solution. On the other hand, we prove that if the superquadratic BSDE admits a bounded solution, then there exist infinitely many bounded solutions for this BSDE. Finally, we prove the existence of a solution for Markovian BSDEs where the terminal value is a bounded continuous function of a forward stochastic differentia…
This paper is devoted to study the asymptotic properties for the solution of decoupled forward backward stochastic differential equations with delayed generator. As an application, we establish a large deviation principe for solution of the backward equation.

We study a stochastic optimal control problem for forward-backward control systems with quadratic generators. In order to establish the first and second-order variational and adjoint equations, we obtain a new estimate for one-dimensional linear BSDEs with unbounded stochastic Lipschitz coefficients involving bounded mean oscillation martingales (BMO-martingales for short) and prove the solvability for a class of multi-dimensional BSDEs with this type. Finally, a new global stochastic maximum principle is deduced.
We introduce and study a new type of integral equations called anticipating backward stochastic Volterra integral equations (anticipating BSVIEs). In these equations the generator involves not only the present values but also the future values of the solutions. We obtain the existence and uniqueness theorem and a comparison theorem for the solutions to these anticipating BSVIEs.
We study the existence and uniqueness of minimal supersolutions of backward stochastic differential equations with generators that are jointly lower semicontinuous, bounded below by an affine function of the control variable and satisfy a specific normalization property.
In this paper we study backward stochastic differential equations with general terminal value and general random generator. In particular, we do not require the terminal value be given by a forward diffusion equation. The randomness of the generator does not need to be from a forward equation, either. Motivated from applications to numerical simulations, first we obtain the $L^p$-Hölder continuity of the solution. Then we construct several numerical approximation schemes for backward stochastic differential equations and obtain the rate of convergence of the schemes based on the obtained $L^p$…
The paper deals with the existence and uniqueness of the solution of the backward stochastic variational inequality: \begin{equation} \left\{\begin{array} {l}-dY_{t}+\partial φ(Y_{t})dt \ni F(t,Y_{t},Z_{t})dt-Z_{t}dB_{t},\;0\leq t<T \\ Y_{T}=η, \end{array} \right.\end{equation} where $F$ satisfies a local boundedness condition.
In this paper, we establish representation theorems for generators of backward stochastic differential equations (BSDEs in short), whose generators are monotonic and convex growth in $y$ and quadratic growth in $z$. We also obtain a converse comparison theorem for such BSDEs.
We deal with reflected solutions of anticipated backward doubly stochastic differential equations (RABDSDEs) driven by Teugels martingales associated with Lévy process under a Lipschitz generator where the coefficients of these BDSDEs depend on the future and present value of the solution $\left( Y,Z\right) $. Also we study the existence of a solution for anticipated BDSDEs.
We consider a backward stochastic differential equation with a generator that can be subjected to delay, in the sense that its current value depends on the weighted past values of the solutions, for instance a distorted recent average. Existence and uniqueness results are provided in the case of possibly infinite time horizon for equations with, and without reflection. Furthermore, we show that when the delay vanishes, the solutions of the delayed equations converge to the solution of the equation without delay. We argue that these equations are naturally linked to forward backward systems, an…
In this paper, the existence of $L^p(p>1)$ solutions for one-dimensional backward stochastic differential equations will be shown directly by proving that an approximation sequence is a Cauchy one in the $L^p$ sense.
In this paper, we establish a general representation theorem for generator of backward stochastic differential equation (BSDE), whose generator has a quadratic growth in $z$. As some applications, we obtain a general converse comparison theorem of such quadratic BSDEs and uniqueness theorem, translation invariance for quadratic $g$-expectation.
The problem of finding a martingale on a manifold with a fixed random terminal value can be solved by considering BSDEs with a generator with quadratic growth. We study here a generalization of these equations and we give uniqueness and existence results in two different frameworks, using differential geometry tools. Applications to PDEs are given, including a certain class of Dirichlet problems on manifolds.
This paper deals with the problem of existence and uniqueness of a solution for a backward stochastic differential equation (BSDE for short) with one reflecting barrier in the case when the terminal value, the generator and the obstacle process are Lp-integrable with p in ]1,2[. To construct the solution we use two methods: penalization and Snell envelope. As an application we broaden the class of functions for which the related obstacle partial differential equation problem has a unique viscosity solution.
In this paper, we study the solvability of anticipated backward stochastic differential equations (BSDEs, for short) with quadratic growth for one-dimensional case and multi-dimensional case. In these BSDEs, the generator, which is of quadratic growth in Z, involves not only the present information of solution (Y, Z) but also its future one. The existence and uniqueness of such BSDEs, under different conditions, are derived for several terminal situations, including small terminal value, bounded terminal value and unbounded terminal value.
We consider the problem of viscosity solution of integro-partial differential equation(IPDE in short) with one obstacle via the solution of reflected backward stochastic differential equations(RBSDE in short) with jumps. We show existence and uniqueness of a continuous viscosity solution of equation with non local terms, in case the generator is not monotonous and Levy's measure is infinite.
