We prove Macdonald-type deformations of a number of well-known classical branching rules by employing identities for elliptic hypergeometric integrals and series. We also propose some conjectural branching rules and allied conjectures exhibiting a novel type of vanishing behaviour involving partitions with empty 2-cores.

Starting from a recently found branching formula for the six-parameter family of symmetric Macdonald-Koornwinder polynomials, we arrive by degeneration at corresponding branching rules for symmetric hypergeometric orthogonal polynomials of Wilson, continuous Hahn, Jacobi, Laguerre, and Hermite type.
A one-parameter generalisation R_λ(X;b) of the symmetric Macdonald polynomials and interpolations Macdonald polynomials is studied from the point of view of branching rules. We establish a Pieri formula, evaluation symmetry, principal specialisation formula and q-difference equation for R_λ(X;b). We also prove a new multiple q-Gauss summation formula and several further results for sl_n basic hypergeometric series based on R_λ(X;b).

We give a new theta-function identity, a special case of which is utilised to prove Kawanaka's Macdonald polynomial conjecture. The theta-function identity further yields a transformation formula for multivariable elliptic hypergeometric series which appears to be new even in the one-variable, basic case.
We use elliptic Taylor series expansions and interpolation to deduce a number of summations for elliptic hypergeometric series. We extend to the well-poised elliptic case results that in the $q$-case have previously been obtained by Cooper and by Ismail and Stanton. We also provide identities involving S. Bhargava's cubic theta functions.
Using multiple q-integrals and a determinant evaluation, we establish a multivariable extension of Bailey's nonterminating 10-phi-9 transformation. From this result, we deduce new multivariable terminating 10-phi-9 transformations, 8-phi-7 summations and other identities. We establish a number of extensions of the well-poised Bailey lemma and elliptic well-poised Bailey lemma. As application we prove some new transformation formulae for basic and elliptic hypergeometric series, and embed some recent identities of Andrews, Berkovich and Spiridonov in a well-poised Bailey tree.
In this paper we present a unified approach to the spectral analysis of an hypergeometric type operator whose eigenfunctions include the classical orthogonal polynomials. We write the eigenfunctions of this operator by means of a new Taylor formula for operators of Askey-Wilson type. This gives rise to some expressions for the eigenfunctions, which are unknown in such a general setting.
