The high-energy scattering of massive electroweak bosons, known as vector boson scattering (VBS), is a sensitive probe of new physics. VBS signatures will be thoroughly and systematically investigated at the LHC with the large data samples available and those that will be collected in the near future. Searches for deviations from Standard Model (SM) expectations in VBS facilitate tests of the Electroweak Symmetry Breaking (EWSB) mechanism. Current state-of-the-art tools and theory developments, together with the latest experimental results, and the studies foreseen for the near future are summarized. A review of the existing Beyond the SM (BSM) models that could be tested with such studies as well as data analysis strategies to understand the interplay between models and the effective field theory paradigm for interpreting experimental results are discussed. This document is a summary of the EU COST network "VBScan" workshop on the sensitivity of VBS processes for BSM frameworks that took place December 4-5, 2019 at the LIP facilities in Lisbon, Portugal. In this manuscript we outline the scope of the workshop, summarize the different contributions from theory and experiment, and discuss the relevant findings.
We identify two types of well-motivated, so-far experimentally unexplored LHC signatures of extended Higgs sectors: First, Higgs-to-Higgs decay signatures that involve (at least) two Beyond-the-Standard Model (BSM) neutral scalar bosons, $ϕ_i \to ϕ_j ϕ_k$. These signatures are discussed in the framework of the Two-Real-Singlet-Model (TRSM), which can furthermore exhibit cascades of Higgs-to-Higgs decays leading to multi-Higgs final states. Second, the charged Higgs boson decay to a W boson and a neutral BSM Higgs boson, which can easily become the dominant decay within the Two-Higgs-Doublet-Mo…
We consider the possible production of the Higgs Boson in association with a top-quark pair and its subsequent decay into a tau-lepton pair or a W-boson pair. This process can give rise to many signatures of the Higgs boson. These signatures can have electrons, muons, tau jets, bottom jets and/or light flavour jets. We analyze the viability of some of these signatures. We will look at those signatures where the background is minimal. In particular, we explore the viability of the signatures "isolated 4 electron/muon" and "isolated 3 electron/muon + a jet" The jet can be due to a light flavour …
If the Higgs boson is a pseudo Nambu-Goldstone boson (PNGB), the $hZγ$ contact interaction induced by the $\mathcal{O}(p^4)$ invariants of the non-linear sigma model is free from its nonlinearity effects. The process $h\rightarrow Zγ$ can be used to eliminate the universal effects of heavy particles, which can fake the nonlinearity effects of the PNGB Higgs boson in the process $h\rightarrow V^*V$ ($V=W^\pm$,\ $Z$). We demonstrate that the ratio of the signal strength of $h\rightarrow Zγ$ and $h\rightarrow V^*V$ is good to distinguish the signature of the PNGB Higgs boson from Higgs coupling d…
We consider the process $p p \to t {\bar t} H$. This process can give rise to many signatures of the Higgs boson. The signatures can have electrons, muons and jets. We consider the signatures that have two electrons/muons and jets. Tagging of a tau jet and a bottom jet can help reduce the backgrounds significantly. In particular, we examine the usefulness of the signatures "isolated 2 electrons/muons + a bottom jet + a tau jet", "isolated 2 electrons/muons + 2 tau jets", "isolated 2 electrons/muons + 2 bottom jets + a tau jet", and "isolated 2 electrons/muons + a bottom jet + 2 tau jets". We f…
The resonance production of new chiral spin-1 bosons and their detection through the Drell--Yan process at the CERN LHC is considered. Quantitative evaluations of various differential cross-sections of the chiral bosons production are made within the CalcHEP package. The new neutral chiral bosons can be observed as a Breit--Wigner resonance peak in the invariant dilepton mass distribution, as usual. However, unique new signatures of the chiral bosons exist. First, there is no Jacobian peak in the lepton transverse momentum distribution. Second, the lepton angular distribution in the Collins-So…
In supersymmetric theories of nature the Higgsino fermionic superpartner of the Higgs boson can arise as the lightest standard model superpartner depending on the couplings between the Higgs and supersymmetry breaking sectors. In this letter the production and decay of Higgsino pairs to the Goldstone fermion of supersymmetry breaking and the Higgs boson, h, or gauge bosons, Z or $γ$ are considered. Relatively clean di-boson final states, hh, $h γ$, hZ, $Z γ$, or ZZ, with a large amount of missing energy result. The latter channels provide novel discovery modes for supersymmetry at high energy …
The charged Higgs boson is a smoking gun of extensions of the standard model with multiple Higgs-doublets, and has been searched for at various collider experiments. In this paper, we study signature of a light charged Higgs boson produced by top quark pairs at the LHC, with subsequent three-body decays into a W boson and a pair of bottom quarks. Cross sections on final states of two W bosons plus four bottom quarks have been measured by the ATLAS collaboration at the LHC 13 TeV. We reinterpret the experimental data under the scenario of a light charged Higgs boson, and find improved agreement…
The alignment phenomenon, that the 125 GeV $h^0$ boson so resembles the Standard Model Higgs boson, can be understood in a two Higgs doublet model without discrete symmetry. New Yukawa couplings $ρ_{tt}$ and $ρ_{tc}$ offer new avenues to discover the extra scalar $H^0$ and pseudoscalar $A^0$. We propose to search for $cg \to tH^0$, $tA^0$ followed by $H^0$, $A^0 \to t\bar t$, $t\bar c$, where same-sign dileptons could be the harbinger, with triple-top, in the signature of three leptons plus three $b$-jets, as confirmation. Discovery could touch upon the origin of baryon asymmetry of the Univer…
We study the LHC signatures of new gauge bosons in the gauge-invariant minimal Higgsless model. It predicts an extra pair of W_1 and Z_1 bosons which can be as light as ~400GeV and play a key role in the delay of unitarity violation. We analyze the W_1 signals in pp --> W_0Z_0Z_0 --> jj4\ell and pp --> jj W_0Z_0 --> jj3\ellνprocesses at the LHC, including the complete electroweak and QCD backgrounds. We reveal the complementarity between these two channels for discovering the W_1 boson, and demonstrate the LHC discovery potential over the full range of allowed W_1 mass.
The production of doubly charged Higgs bosons (H^{\pm\pm}) at the CERN LHC can give rise to distinctive multi-lepton signatures. The discovery potential of H^{\pm\pm} can be optimized by considering a search strategy which is sensitive to both of the dominant production mechanisms, q\bar q\to H^{++}H^{--} and q\bar {q'}\to H^{\pm\pm}H^{\mp}. We compare the discovery potential for the signatures of exactly four leptons and at least three leptons in the final state, using the same set of cuts. We have carried out fast detector simulations at the LHC for both signal and backgrounds for a wide ran…
The HyperCP collaboration has observed three events for the decay $Σ^+ \to p μ^+ μ^-$. The three events may be interpreted as a new narrow-width CP-odd scalar $a$ with the mass $214.3 \pm 0.5$ MeV. Here $a$ decays dominantly into di-muon ($μ^+μ^-$). As the consequence of tiny mass difference between $m_a$ and 2$m_μ$ ($2 m_μ \approx$ 211.3 MeV), di-muon will be boosted to almost the same direction at colliders. Such kind of di-muon events have been overlooked in the past experiments. Provided that the precision data preferred light SM-like Higgs boson $h$ decays dominantly into $a a$ other than…
Thermal dark matter scenarios based on light (sub-GeV) fermions typically require the presence of an extra dark sector containing both a massive dark photon along with a dark Higgs boson. The latter generates both the dark photon mass and an additional mass term for the dark sector fermions. This simple setup has both rich phenomenology and bright detection prospects at high-intensity accelerator experiments. We point out that in addition to the well studied pseudo-Dirac regime, this model can achieve the correct relic density in three different scenarios, and examine in details their properti…
We study $4b+2τ$ and $4b+1τ$ signatures of heavy neutral and charged Higgs bosons originating from cascade decays of pair-produced new quarks. Decays of vectorlike quarks through heavy Higgses can easily dominate in the two Higgs doublet model of type-II, and the studied signatures are common to many possible decay chains. We design search strategies for these final states and discuss the mass ranges of heavy Higgs bosons and new quarks that can be explored at the Large Hadron Collider as functions of branching ratios in a model independent way. We further combine the results with a similar st…
We explore an intriguing possibility to test the type-II seesaw mechanism of neutrino mass generation at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). We show that the lepton-number-violating signatures of heavy Majorana neutrinos N_i (for i=1, 2, 3) and doubly-charged Higgs bosons H^++(H^--) can be closely correlated with each other in a class of TeV-scale type-II seesaw models. Taking the minimal version of such models for example, we calculate the cross sections of pp -> l^+_αl^+_βX (l^-_αl^-_βX) processes mediated separately by N_1 and H^++(H^--), and illustrate their nontrivial correlation at the LHC.
Identification of beyond-standard-models including WIMP dark matter is studied in four particle final state with a W boson pair and a WIMP pair at the International Linear Collider. Models with different spin structures give distinguishable production angle distributions. After the mass determination in each model, the production angle is reconstructed using the four momentum of W bosons with a back-to-back constraint. Three models of Inert Higgs, Supersymmetry and Little Higgs are considered. Discrimination power at 200 fb and 40 fb signal cross section with 500 fb-1 luminosity at sqrt(s) = 5…
We point out that W' bosons may decay predominantly into Higgs particles associated with their broken gauge symmetry. We demonstrate this in a renormalizable model where the W' and W couplings to fermions differ only by an overall normalization. This "meta-sequential" W' boson decays into a scalar pair, with the charged one subsequently decaying into a W boson and a neutral scalar. These scalars are odd under a parity of the Higgs sector, which consists of a complex bidoublet and a doublet. The W' and Z' bosons have the same mass and branching fractions into scalars, and may show up at the LHC…
Motivated by our limited knowledge of the Higgs couplings to first two generation fermions, we analyze the collider phenomenology of a class of two Higgs doublet models (2HDMs) with a non-standard Yukawa sector. One Higgs doublet is mainly responsible for the masses of the weak gauge bosons and the third generation fermions, while the second Higgs doublet provides mass for the lighter fermion generations. The characteristic collider signatures of this setup differ significantly from well-studied 2HDMs with natural flavor conservation, flavor alignment, or minimal flavor violation. New producti…
We examine the potential signatures of the Higgs boson when it decays into a tau-lepton pair. We show that with the proper identification of the tau-jet, this decay mode can lead to the identification of the Higgs boson over most of the intermediate mass range (\mW $<$ \mH $<$ 2 \mW).
The breakdown of the SU(6) global symmetry to its SU(5) subgroup, that contains the standard model (SM) gauge group, in the E6 inspired composite Higgs model (E6CHM) results in a set of pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone bosons (pNGBs). This set, in particular, involves the SM-like Higgs doublet and a SM singlet boson. In the limit when CP is conserved the SM singlet scalar A is a CP-odd state that does not mix with the SM-like Higgs. The interactions of A with exotic matter beyond the SM, which ensures anomaly cancellation and approximate gauge coupling unification, can induce couplings of this pseudosca…
The search for evidence of beyond Standard Model Higgs bosons is an integral part of the Higgs boson studies at the LHC. This article reviews recent beyond Standard Model Higgs boson searches using Run I LHC proton-proton collision data recorded by the ATLAS detector. In particular, searches for Higgs boson cascades, double Higgs boson production, scalar particles decaying to $γγ$ pairs, flavor changing neutral currents involving Higgs bosons, and Higgs bosons decaying to invisible particles are discussed. No significant deviations from the background expectations are found and corresponding c…
Recent results from the Tevatron are reported on Higgs boson searches in models beyond the standard model (SM). The models include fermiophobic Higgs bosons, the extension of the SM to a fourth generation of fermions, supersymmetric scenarios and heavy Higgs boson cascade decays.
Searches for dark matter at colliders typically involve signatures with energetic initial-state radiation without visible recoil particles. Searches for mono-jet or mono-photon signatures have yielded powerful constraints on dark matter interactions with Standard Model particles. We extend this to the mono-Z signature and reinterpret an ATLAS analysis of events with a Z boson and missing transverse momentum to derive constraints on dark matter interaction mass scale and nucleon cross sections in the context of effective field theories describing dark matter which interacts via heavy mediator p…
We revisit the exclusive signature $e^\pm (μ^\pm) + b\bar b$ in the associated production of the intermediate mass Higgs boson with a $W$ boson. We show that it is feasible to use this signature to identify the Higgs boson in the lower intermediate mass region ($90$ to $130$ GeV) at the LHC with reasonable acceptance cuts by assuming effective bottom-jet identification. We further demonstrate that the background can be reduced with judicious cuts down to the level of the signal.
We study LHC Higgs signatures from topflavor seesaw realization of electroweak symmetry breaking with a minimal gauge extension SU(2) x SU(2) x U(1). This elegant renormalizable construction singles out top quark sector (instead of all other light fermions) to join the new SU(2) gauge force. It predicts extra vector-like spectator quarks (T, B), new gauge bosons (W', Z'), and a pair of neutral Higgs bosons (h, H). We demonstrate that for the lighter Higgs boson h of mass 125GeV, this model predicts modified Higgs signal rates in h --> γγ, WW*, ZZ* channels via gluon fusions, in h --> tau tau m…
The hadronic tau decay channel offers by far the best signature for heavy charged Higgs boson search at the LHC in the large $\tanβ$ region. By exploiting the distinct polarization of the tau and its large transverse mass, along with the accompanying missing--$p_T$, one can probe for a charged Higgs boson up to a mass of about 600 GeV in an essentially background-free environment. The transverse mass distribution of the tau jet also provides a fairly unambiguous estimate of the charged Higgs boson mass.
The opposite states of the $τ$ polarization resulting from the charged Higgs boson and the $W$ boson decays can be exploited to enhance the $H^\pm$ signal in the inclusive 1-prong hadronic decay channel of $τ$. We suggest practical methods of sharpening up the $H^\pm$ signature in the top quark decay at LHC using this idea. As a result one can carry on the charged Higgs boson search to within $\sim 20 GeV$ of the parent top quark mass over the full parameter space of the MSSM.
Charged Higgs boson can exist in many physics beyond the standard models (BSM) and it is the obvious BSM signal. We briefly describe why the 125GeV scalar discovered at the LHC must have (heavy) companion: the charged Higgs boson, in a new paradigm. We then focus on the charged Higgs phenomenology, especially on how to measure $\tanβ$ precisely utilizing the top quark polarization information.
The discovery of the Higgs boson at the LHC opened up a new possibility to obtain a precise understanding of the origin of mass and the structure of the vacuum. Several theories beyond the Standard Model predict an extended Higgs sector, with additional scalar particles. We outline the complementary search possibilities for these beyond Standard Model Higgs bosons at the LHC and at possible future high-energy collider facilities.
We study the signature of $H^\pm$ decay into $h^0W$ at the LHC in SUSY models. It has only marginal viability in the MSSM. But in the singlet extensions like the NMSSM one can have a spectacular signature for $H^\pm$ decay into $(h^0,A^0)W$ over a significant domain of parameter space.
In these proceedings, we review results for several di-boson production processes beyond NLO QCD at high transverse momenta using the VBFNLO Monte-Carlo program together with the LOOPSIM method. Additionally, we show for the WZ production process how higher order QCD corrections can resemble anomalous coupling effects.
Technicolor models with the GIM mechanism are successful solutions to common problems of technicolor model building. These models have a rich set of new particles and interactions. We present the spectrum of the lightest exotic particles in such models and their signatures in present and future collider experiments.
We analyze the prospect for observing the lightest and heaviest CP-even neutral Higgs bosons ($ϕ=h,\;H$) in their decays to flavor violating $b\bar{s}$ (with charge conjugate) final states at the future Large Hadron electron Collider (LHeC), in the framework of the Two Higgs Doublet Model type III (2HDM-III) assuming a four-zero texture in the Yukawa matrices and a general Higgs potential. We consider the charge current production processes $e^- p \to ν_e ϕq_f$ ($ϕ= h, \; H$), with the flavor violating decays of the Higgs bosons. We consider scenarios of the model which are consistent with cur…
We study LHC Higgs signatures from the extended electroweak gauge symmetry SU(2) x SU(2) x U(1). Under this gauge structure, we present an effective UV completion of the 3-site moose model with ideal fermion delocalization, which contains two neutral Higgs states (h, H) and three new gauge bosons (W', Z'). We study the unitarity, and reveal that the exact E^2 cancellation in the longitudinal WW scattering amplitudes is achieved by the joint role of exchanging both spin-1 new gauge bosons and spin-0 Higgs bosons. We identify the lighter Higgs state h with mass 125GeV, and derive the unitarity b…
We show how the well studied $γγ$ inclusive Higgs signal can be used at the Large Hadron Collider to test Gauge Mediated Supersymmetry Breaking scenarios in which a rather heavy Higgs boson decays into two light neutralinos, the latter yielding two photons and missing (transverse) energy
We analyze some signatures of neutral Higgs bosons, produced in high energy proton (anti)proton collisions, which decay primarily to top quarks. This channel is clouded by a large irreducible $t\bar t$ background. We investigate the $t\bar t$ invariant-mass distribution in the lepton+jets decay mode of $t\bar t$ and a $t\bar t$ spin-spin correlation in the dilepton decay mode. At the LHC such Higgs bosons can be detected in the $t\bar t$ invariant-mass spectrum, and the spin-spin correlation studied by us is also sensitive to a Higgs boson if this particle has a sizeable pseudoscalar component…
The most general Two Higgs Doublet Model potential without explicit CP violation depends on 10 real independent parameters. Excluding spontaneous CP violation results in two 7 parameter models. Although both models give rise to 5 scalar particles and 2 mixing angles, the resulting phenomenology of the scalar sectors is different. If flavour changing neutral currents at tree level are to be avoided, one has, in both cases, four alternative ways of introducing the fermion couplings. In one of these models the mixing angle of the CP even sector can be chosen in such a way that the fermion couplin…
The conventional signature for grand unified theories (GUT) is the proton decay. Recently, some models in extra dimensions or with specific discrete symmetries, which aim at solving the doublet-triplet problem, allow the color-triplet in the TeV mass region by suppressing the Yukawa couplings of the triplets to matter fermions. We study the hadronic production and detection of these TeV colored Higgs bosons as an alternative signature for GUT, which would behave like massive stable charged particles in particle detectors producing a striking signature of a charged track in the central tracking…
In these proceedings I cover the latest results on the production and decay of the recently discovered Higgs boson. While the spin and properties of the new boson, such as its mass and couplings to bosons and fermions, are covered in a separate report, I focus on individual results in the main channels we use to study the properties of the new boson and to search for its possible cousins, with the focus on the latest results from the LHC and the Tevatron collaborations.
In this study, we investigate the light charged Higgs boson production via $pp \rightarrow H^\pm bj$ in the type-I configuration of the Two-Higgs Doublet Model (2HDM). In the viable parameter space, assuming either $h$ or $H$ is the SM-like Higgs boson observed at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), we focus on the bosonic decays $H^\pm \rightarrow W^\pm A/h$ and examine the final states arising from the above charged Higgs production and decay. We show here that the suggested signatures can have sizable rates, reaching the pb level, when the top quark is produced on-shell and $\tanβ$ is small.
The process $e^- γ\to e^+ W_R^- W_R^-$ is studied in the framework of the Left-Right symmetric model. It is shown that this reaction and $e^- γ\to l^+ W_R^- W_R^-$ for the arbitrary final lepton are likely to be discovered for CLIC collider option. For relatively light doubly charged Higgs boson its mass does not have much influence on the discovery potential, while for heavier values the probability of the reaction increases.
The present status of ATLAS searches for Higgs bosons in extensions of the Standard Model (SM) is presented. This includes searches for the Higgs bosons of the Two-Higgs-Doublet Model (2HDM), the Minimal Supersymmetric Model (MSSM), the Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Model (NMSSM) and models with an invisibly decaying Higgs boson. A review of the phenomenology of the Higgs sectors of these models is given together with the search strategy and the resulting experimental constraints.
This paper studies the utility of the processes $γγ\to γγ$, $γZ$, and $ZZ$ in searching for sources of CP violation arising from energy scales beyond the production thresholds of planned future colliders. In the context of an effective Lagrangian approach we consider the most general set of CP odd SU(2) $\times$ U(1) operators that give rise to genuinely quartic gauge boson couplings which can be probed in $2 \to 2$ scattering processes at a $γγ$ collider. We study each process in detail, emphasizing the complementary information that is obtained by varying the initial beam polarizations. Fina…
Recently Weinberg suggested that Goldstone bosons arising from the spontaneous breakdown of some global hidden symmetries can interact weakly in the early Universe and account for a fraction of the effective number of neutrino species N_eff, which has been reported persistently 1 σaway from its expected value of three. In this work, we study in some details a number of experimental constraints on this interesting idea based on the simplest possibility of a global U(1), as studied by Weinberg. We work out the decay branching ratios of the associated light scalar field $σ$ and suggest a possible…

We investigate the possible detection of the Hypercharge Axion (HCA) in colliders. The HCA is a hypothetical pseudoscalar that couples to weak hypercharge topological density and could potentially explain the dominance of matter over antimatter in the observable universe. If the HCA exists, it can be produced in colliders via vector boson fusion or in association with a photon or with a Z boson, and detected by looking for its decay into photons or Z bosons. We find that for certain values of the HCA mass and coupling scales, both of the order of a TeV, existing data from the Large Hadron Coll…
In singlet extensions of the two Higgs doublet model, a light CP-odd Higgs boson (A) can significantly modify decay modes of the charged Higgs, without necessarily affecting decay modes of the standard model-like Higgs boson. These effects can be sizable even if the doublet component of the light CP-odd Higgs is small, so that constraints from Upsilon decays and direct CP-odd Higgs production do not apply. We study a scenario in which the charged Higgs is produced in top quark decays, t -> H+ b, with dominant H+ -> W A. We focus on the CP-odd Higgs mass range below the bb threshold. We summari…
There are lots of new physics models which predict an extra neutral gauge boson, referred as Z'-boson. In a certain class of these new physics models, the Z'-boson has flavor-dependent couplings with the fermions in the Standard Model (SM). Based on a simple model in which couplings of the SM fermions in the third generation with the Z'-boson are different from those of the corresponding fermions in the first two generations, we study the signatures of Z'-boson at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and the International Linear Collider (ILC). We show that at the LHC, the Z'-boson with mass around…
In this paper, we discuss the potential of observing heavy neutrino ($ν_h$) signatures of a $U(1)_{B-L}$ enlarged Standard Model (SM) encompassing three heavy Majorana neutrinos alongside the known light neutrino states at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). We exploit the theoretical decay via a pair of heavy (non-SM-like) Higgs boson and $Z'$ production followed by $ν_h \rightarrow l^\pm W^{\mp (*)}$ and $ν_h \rightarrow ν_l Z^{(*)}$ decays, ultimately yielding a $3l+2j+E_{T}^{\rm{miss}}$ signature and, depending upon how boosted the final state objects are, we define different possible selecti…
The gauge coupling unification can be achieved at a unification scale around 5 x 10^{13} GeV if the Standard Model scalar sector is extended with extra Higgs-like doublets. The relevant new scalar degrees of freedom in the form of chiral Z* and W* vector bosons might "be visible" already at about 700 GeV. Their eventual preferred coupling to the heavy quarks explains the non observation of these bosons in the first LHC run and provides promising expectation for the second LHC run.
Electroweak baryogenesis (EWBG) in the MSSM can account for the cosmological baryon asymmetry, but only within a restricted region of the parameter space. In particular, MSSM EWBG requires a mostly right-handed stop that is lighter than the top quark and a standard model-like light Higgs boson. In the present work we investigate the effects of the light stop on Higgs boson production and decay. Relative to the standard model Higgs boson, we find a large enhancement of the Higgs production rate through gluon fusion and a suppression of the Higgs branching fraction into photon pairs. These modif…
In the framework of the RSII-n model with n compact and one infinite extra dimensions, we study the production of Z-bosons and photons, which escape into the bulk, in association with a jet in pp collisions at the LHC energies. This would show up as the process pp -> jet+bulk. We calculate the distributions in the jet transverse momentum and rapidity and compare them with the Standard Model background pp->jet +ν\barν.We find that the models with n>3 can be probed at the collision energy 14 TeV, while searches at 7 TeV are sensitive to models with n>5 only.
One of the most-studied signals for physics beyond the standard model in the production of gauge bosons in electron-positron collisions is that due to the anomalous triple gauge boson couplings in the $Z γ$ final state. In this work, we study the implications of this at the ILC with polarized beams for signals that go beyond traditional anomalous triple neutral gauge boson couplings. Here we report a dimension-8 CP-conserving $Z γZ$ vertex that has not found mention in the literature. We carry out a systematic study of the anomalous couplings in general terms and arrive at a classification. We…
We discuss three promising diagnostic probes of the couplings of a possible heavy $Z'$ boson at hadron colliders: the forward-backward asymmetry into leptons, the rare decay $Z' \ra W^{\pm} \ell^{\mp} ν$, and associated production $pp \ra Z'W,\; Z'Z$. A general model-independent framework is proposed for interpreting these and other data. Clean tests of whether a new $W'$ couples to right-handed currents, of the ratio $g_R/g_L$ of gauge couplings, and of the non-abelian vertex in left-right symmetric models are described.
We carry out an event generator based study to evaluate the usefulness of the the exclusive signature ``$e^\pm (μ^\pm) + 2$ bottom jets'' in discovering the Higgs boson at the Tevatron. Using an event generator, we show that with enough luminosity, one should be able to detect the Higgs boson up to the mass of about 130 GeV. We consider a slightly modified version of the above signature that includes one extra jet. This new signature is more useful because it increases the number of signal events significantly.
We study the collider signatures of a T-odd gauge boson $W_{H}$ pair production in the Littlest Higgs Model with T-parity (LHT) at Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and Linear Collider (LC). At the LHC, we search for the $W_{H}$ boson using its leptonic decay, i.e. $pp\to W_{H}^{+}W_{H}^{-}\to A_{H}A_{H}\ell^{+}ν_{\ell}\ell^{\prime-}\barν_{\ell^{\prime}}$, which gives rise to a collider signature of $\ell^{+}\ell^{\prime-}+\met$. We demonstrate that the LHC not only has a great potential of discovering the $W_{H}$ boson in this channel, but also can probe enormous parameter space of the LHT. Due to …
A systematic analysis of the like-sign dipleton signature for gluino production at LHC is performed in the $R$-conserving minimal supersymmetric standard model, taking into account the top quark and Higgs boson effects in the cascade decay. We consider two representative values of the gluino mass, 300 and 800 GeV, along with those of the other SUSY parameters. While the top quark contribution is kinematically suppressed for the former case it is very import for the latter. Ways of separating the signal from the background are discussed. One expects a viable LSD signals upto a gluino mass of $\…
Convincing and direct evidence for dark matter (DM) on galactic scales comes from the observation of the rotation curves of galaxies. At particle colliders, searches for DM involve the production of a pair of stable electrically neutral and weakly interacting particles with a signature of missing transverse energy ($E^{\rm T}_{\rm miss}$) recoiling against a SM particle. The resulting signature yields a final state denoted as X+$E^{\rm T}_{\rm miss}$, where the SM particle X is emitted as initial state radiation. The Higgs boson discovery at the LHC opens a new window into the searches for new…
