We study parafermion vertex algebras $N_{-3/2}(\frak{sl}(2))$ and $N_{-3/2}(\frak{sl}(3))$. Using the isomorphism between $N_{-3/2}(\frak{sl}(3))$ and the logarithmic vertex algebra $\mathcal{W}^{0} (2)_{A_2} $ from [2], we show that these parafermion vertex algebras are infinite direct sums of irreducible modules for the Zamolodchikov algebra $\mathcal{W}(2,3)$ of central charge $c=-10$, and that $N_{-3/2}(\frak{sl}(3))$ is a direct sum of irreducible $N_{-3/2}(\frak{sl}(2))$-modules. As a byproduct, we prove certain conjectures about the vertex algebra $\mathcal{W}^0(p)_{A_2}$. We also obtain a vertex-algebraic proof of the irreducibility of a family of $\mathcal W(2,3)_{c}$ modules at $c=-10$.
In this paper, we establish the connection between the quantized W-algebra of ${\frak sl}(2,1)$ and quantum parafermions of $U_q(\hat {\frak sl}(2))$ that a shifted product of the two quantum parafermions of $U_q(\hat {\frak sl}(2))$ generates the quantized W-algebra of ${\frak sl}(2,1)$.
For the current realization of the affine quantum groups, a simple comultiplication for the quantum current operators was given by Drinfeld. With this comultiplication, we prove that, for the integrable modules of $U_q(\hat {\frak sl}(2))$ of level $k+1$, $x^\pm(z)x^\pm(zq^{\pm 2}) \cdot\cdot\cdot x^\pm(zq^{\pm 2k})$ are vertex operators satisfying certain q-difference equations, and we derive the quantum parafermions of $U_q(\hat {\frak sl}(2))$.
In this note we present an explicit realization of the affine vertex algebra $V^{cri}(\frak{gl}(1 \vert 1)) $ inside of the tensor product $F\otimes M$ where $F$ is a fermionic verex algebra and $M$ is a commutative vertex algebra. This immediately gives an alternative description of the center of $V^{cri}(\frak{gl}(1 \vert 1) ) )$ as a subalgebra $M _ 0$ of $M$. We reconstruct the Molev-Mukhin formula for the Hilbert-Poincare series of the center of $V^ {cri}(\frak{gl}(1 \vert 1) )$. Moreover, we construct a family of irreducible $V^{cri}(\frak{gl}(1 \vert 1))$ -modules realized on $F$ and pa…
We determine Zhu's algebra and C_2-algebra of parafermion vertex operator algebras for sl_2. Moreover, we prove the C_2-cofiniteness of parafermion vertex operator algebras for any finite dimensional simple Lie algebras.
The rationality of the parafermion vertex operator algebra associated to any finite dimensional simple Lie algebra and any nonnegative integer is established and the irreducible modules are determined.
The quantum dimensions and the fusion rules for the parafermion vertex operator algebra associated to the irreducible highest weight module for the affine Kac-Moody algebra A_1^{(1)} of level k are determined.
It is proved that the parafermion vertex operator algebra associated to the irreducible highest weight module for the affine Kac-Moody algebra A_1^{(1)} of level k coincides with a certain W-algebra. In particular, a set of generators for the parafermion vertex operator algebra is determined.
The structure of the parafermion vertex operator algebra associated to an integrable highest weight module for any affine Kac-Moody algebra is studied. In particular, a set of generators for this algebra has been determined.
The irreducible modules for the parafermion vertex operator algebra associated to any finite dimensional Lie algebra and any positive integer are identified, the quantum dimensions are computed and the fusion rules are determined.
In this paper, the irreducible modules for the $\mathbb{Z}_{2}$-orbifold vertex operator subalgebra of the parafermion vertex operator algebra associated to the irreducible highest weight modules for the affine Kac-Moody algebra $A_1^{(1)}$ of level $k$ are classified and constructed.
This paper is about the orbifold theory of affine and parafermion vertex operator algebras. It is known that the parafermion vertex operator algebra $K(sl_2,k)$ associated to the integrable highest weight modules for the affine Kac-Moody algebra $A_1^{(1)}$ is the building block of the general parafermion vertex operator $K(\mathfrak{g},k)$ for any finite dimensional simple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ and any positive integer $k$. We first classify the irreducible modules of $\mathbb{Z}_{2}$-orbifold of the simple affine vertex operator algebra of type $A_1^{(1)}$ and determine their fusion rul…
We study the commutant $L_{\widehat{\frak{sl}}_{2}}(n,0)^c$ of $L_{\widehat{\frak{sl}}_{2}}(n,0)$ in the vertex operator algebra $L_{\widehat{\frak{sl}}_{2}}(1,0)^{\otimes n}$, for $n\geq 2$. The main results include a complete classification of all irreducible $L_{\widehat{\frak{sl}}_{2}}(n,0)^c$-modules and a proof that $L_{\widehat{\frak{sl}}_{2}}(n,0)^c$ is a rational vertex operator algebra. As a consequence, every irreducible $L_{\widehat{\frak{sl}}_{2}}(n,0)^c$-module arises from the coset construction as conjectured in \cite{LS}.
The parafermionic cosets $C_k = \mathrm{Com} (H, L_k(\mathfrak{sl}_2) )$ are studied for negative admissible levels $k$, as are certain infinite-order simple current extensions $B_k$ of $C_k$. Under the assumption that the tensor theory considerations of Huang, Lepowsky and Zhang apply to $C_k$, all irreducible $C_k$- and $B_k$-modules are obtained from those of $L_k(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$, as are the Grothendieck fusion rules of these irreducible modules. Notably, there are only finitely many irreducible $B_k$-modules. The irreducible $C_k$- and $B_k$-characters are computed and the latter are sho…
It is proved that the regularity of parafermion vertex operator algebras associated to integrable highest weight modules for affine Kac-Moody algebra A_1^{(1)} implies the C_2-cofiniteness of parafermion vertex operator algebras associated to integrable highest weight modules for any affine Kac-Moody algebra. In particular, the parafermion vertex operator algebra associated to an integrable highest weight module of small level for any affine Kac-Moody algebra is C_2-cofinite and has only finitely many irreducible modules. Also, the parafermion vertex operator algebras with level 1 are determin…
For the cyclic group $\mathbb{Z}_3$ and positive integer $k$, we study the representations of the orbifold vertex operator algebra $L_{\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}_2}}(k,0)^{\mathbb{Z}_3}$. All the irreducible modules for $L_{\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}_2}}(k,0)^{\mathbb{Z}_3}$ are classified and constructed explicitly. Quantum dimensions and fusion rules for the orbifold vertex operator algebra $L_{\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}_2}}(k,0)^{\mathbb{Z}_3}$ are completely determined.
It is proved that for a vector space W, any set of parafermion-like vertex operators on W in a certain canonical way generates a generalized vertex algebra in the sense of [DL2] with W as a natural module. This result generalizes a result of [Li2]. As an application, generalized vertex algebras are constructed from Lepowsky-Wilson's Z-algebras of any nonzero level.
The following integrability theorem for vertex operator algebras V satisfying some finiteness conditions(C_2-cofinite and CFT-type) is proved: the vertex operator subalgebra generated by a simple Lie subalgebra {\frak g} of the weight one subspace V_1 is isomorphic to the irreducible highest weight \hat{\frak g}-module L(k, 0) for a positive integer k, and V is an integrable \hat{\frak g}-module. The case in which {\frak g} is replaced by an abelian Lie subalgebra is also considered, and several consequences of integrability are discussed.
In this paper, the structure of the parafermion vertex operator algebra associated to an integrable highest weight module for simple affine Lie superalgebra $osp(1|2n)$ is studied. Particularly, we determine the generators for this algebra.
The trace functions for the Parafermion vertex operator algebra associated to any finite dimensional simple Lie algebra $\g$ and any positive integer $k$ are studied and an explicit modular transformation formula of the trace functions is obtained.
For the Klein group $K$ and a positive integr $k$, irreducible modules of the orbifold vertex operator algebra $L_{\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}_2}}(k,0)^{K}$ have been classified and constructed in \cite{JWa}. In this paper, we determine completely the fusion rules of $L_{\widehat{\frak{sl}_2}}(k,0)^{K}$.
We consider several vertex operator (super)algebras closely related to $V_{-1}(\frak{sl} (n) )$, $n \ge 3$ : (a) the parafermionic subalgebra $K(\frak{sl}(n),-1)$ for which we completely describe its inner structure, (b) the vacuum algebra $Ω(V_{-1}(\frak{sl} (n) ) )$, and (c) an infinite extension $\mathcal U$ of $V_{-1}(\frak{sl} (n) )$ constructed by combining certain irreducible ordinary modules with integral weights. It turns out that $\mathcal U$ is isomorphic to the coset vertex algebra $\frak{psl}(n|n) _1 / \frak{sl}(n)_1$, $n \ge 3$. We show that $V_{-1}(\frak{sl}(n))$ admits precisel…
An irreducible module for the parafermion vertex operator algebra $K(\mathfrak{sl}_2,k)$ is said to be of $σ$-type if an automorphism of the fusion algebra of $K(\mathfrak{sl}_2,k)$ of order $k$ is trivial on it. For any integer $k \ge 3$, we show that there exists an automorphism of order $2$ of the subalgebra of the fusion algebra of $K(\mathfrak{sl}_2,k)^{\langle θ\rangle}$ spanned by the irreducible direct summands of $σ$-type irreducible $K(\mathfrak{sl}_2,k)$-modules, where $θ$ is an involution of $K(\mathfrak{sl}_2,k)$. We discuss some examples of such an automorphism as well.
In this paper, we continue the study on toroidal vertex algebras initiated in \cite{LTW}, to study concrete toroidal vertex algebras associated to toroidal Lie algebra $L_{r}(\hat{\frak{g}})=\hat{\frak{g}}\otimes L_r$, where $\hat{\frak{g}}$ is an untwisted affine Lie algebra and $L_r=$\mathbb{C}[t_{1}^{\pm 1},\ldots,t_{r}^{\pm 1}]$. We first construct an $(r+1)$-toroidal vertex algebra $V(T,0)$ and show that the category of restricted $L_{r}(\hat{\frak{g}})$-modules is canonically isomorphic to that of $V(T,0)$-modules.Let $c$ denote the standard central element of $\hat{\frak{g}}$ and set $S…
We construct a vertex representation for the quantum toroidal algebra through the quantum general linear algebra. Using a new realization of the quantum general linear algebra we construct vertex operators for root vectors on the basic representation of the affine Lie algebra $gl_n$ and show that the simple generators give rise a realization of the quantum toroidal algebra with two parameters.
For the simple Lie algebra $ \frak{so}_m$, we study the commutant vertex operator algebra of $ L_{\hat{\frak{so}}_{m}}(n,0)$ in the $n$-fold tensor product $ L_{\hat{\frak{so}}_{m}}(1,0)^{\otimes n}$. It turns out that this commutant vertex operator algebra can be realized as a fixed point subalgebra of $L_{\hat{\frak{so}}_{n}}(m,0)$ (or its simple current extension) associated with a certain abelian group. This result may be viewed as a version of level-rank duality.
A {\em $3$-graph} is a connected cubic graph such that each vertex is is equipped with a cyclic order of the edges incident with it. A {\em weight system} is a function $f$ on the collection of $3$-graphs which is {\em antisymmetric}: $f(H)=-f(G)$ if $H$ arises from $G$ by reversing the orientation at one of its vertices, and satisfies the IHX-equation. Key instances of weight systems are the functions $φ_{\frak{g}}$ obtained from a metric Lie algebra $\frak{g}$ by taking the structure tensor $c$ of $\frak{g}$ with respect to some orthonormal basis, decorating each vertex of the $3$-graph by $…
For the Klein group $K$, $k\in\mathbb{Z}_{\geqslant 1}$ and $m\in\mathbb{Z}_{\geqslant 4}$, we study the representations of the orbifold vertex operator algebra $L_{\hat{\mathfrak{sl}_2}}(k,0)^{K}$ and the commutant vertex operator algebra of $L_{\hat{\mathfrak{so}_m}}(3,0)$ in $L_{\hat{\mathfrak{so}_m}}(1,0)^{\otimes 3}$ which can be realized as the orbifold vertex operator subalgebra $L_{\hat{\mathfrak{sl}_2}}(2m,0)^{K}$ or its extension. All the irreducible modules for $L_{\hat{\mathfrak{sl}_2}}(k,0)^{K}$ and $C_{{L_{\hat{\mathfrak{so}_m}}(1,0)}^{\otimes 3}}({L_{\hat{\mathfrak{so}_m}}(3,0)}…
In this paper, we explore natural connections among trigonometric Lie algebras, (general) affine Lie algebras, and vertex algebras. Among the main results, we obtain a realization of trigonometric Lie algebras as what were called the covariant algebras of the affine Lie algebra $\widehat{\mathcal{A}}$ of Lie algebra $\mathcal{A}=\frak{gl}_{\infty}\oplus\frak{gl}_{\infty}$ with respect to certain automorphism groups. We then prove that restricted modules of level $\ell$ for trigonometric Lie algebras naturally correspond to equivariant quasi modules for the affine vertex algebras $V_{\widehat{\…
In this paper, a continuation of \cite{MPS}, we investigate the $S_3$-orbifold subalgebra of $(\mathcal{V}_c)^{\otimes 3}$, that is, we consider the $S_3$-fixed point vertex subalgebra of the tensor product of three copies of the universal Virasoro vertex operator algebras $\mathcal{V}_c$. Our main result is construction of a minimal, strong set of generators of this subalgebra for any generic values of $c$. More precisely, we show that this vertex algebra is of type $(2,4,6^2,8^2,9,10^2,11,12^3)$. We also investigate two prominent examples of simple $S_3$-orbifold algebras corresponding to ce…
Let $V$ be a strongly regular vertex operator algebra and let $\frak{ch}_V$ be the space spanned by the characters of the irreducible $V$-modules.\ It is known that $\frak{ch}_V$ is the space of solutions of a so-called \emph{modular linear differential equation (MLDE)}.\ In this paper we obtain a near-classification of those $V$ for which the corresponding MLDE is irreducible and monic of order $2$.\ As a consequence we derive the complete classification when $V$ has exactly two simple modules.\ It turns out that $V$ is either one of four affine Kac-Moody algebras of level $1$, or the Yang-Le…
The standard modules for an affine Lie algebra $\ga$ have natural subquotients called parafermionic spaces -- the underlying spaces for the so-called parafermionic conformal field theories associated with $\ga.$ We study the case $\ga = \widehat{sl}(n+1,\C)$ for any positive integral level $k \geq 2.$ Generalizing the $\cal Z$-algebra approach of Lepowsky, Wilson and Primc, we construct a combinatorial basis for the parafermionic spaces in terms of colored partitions. The parts of these partitions represent ''Fourier coefficients'' of generalized vertex operators (parafermionic currents) and c…
Let $\tilde{\mathfrak{g}}$ be the affine Lie algebra of type $A_{2l}^{(2)}$. The integrable highest weight $\tilde{\mathfrak{g}}$-module $L(kΛ_0)$ called the standard $\tilde{\mathfrak{g}}$-module is realized by a tensor product of the twisted module $V_L^T$ for the lattice vertex operator algebra $V_L$. By using such vertex algebraic construction, we construct bases of the standard module, its principal subspace and the parafermionic space. As a consequence, we obtain their character formulas and settle the conjecture for vacuum modules stated in arXiv:math/0102113.
Starting from bosonization, we study the operator that commute or commute up-to a total difference with of any quantized screen operator of a free field. We show that if there exists a operator in the form of a sum of two vertex operators which has the simplest correlation functions with the quantized screen operator, namely a function with one pole and one zero, then, the screen operator and this operator are uniquely determined, and this operator is the quantized virasoro algebra. For the case when the screen is a fermion, there are a family of this kind of operator, which give new algebraic…
The level 1 highest weight modules of the quantum affine algebra $U_q(\widehat{\frak{sl}}_n)$ can be described as spaces of certain semi-infinite wedges. Using a $q$-antisymmetrization procedure, these semi-infinite wedges can be realized inside an infinite tensor product of evaluation modules. This realization gives rise to simple descriptions of vertex operators and (up to a scalar function) their compositions.
The purpose of this work is to illustrate in a family of interesting examples how to study the representation theory of vertex operator superalgebras by combining the theory of vertex algebra extensions and modular forms. Let $L_k\left(\mathfrak{osp}(1 | 2)\right)$ be the simple affine vertex operator superalgebra of $\mathfrak{osp}(1|2)$ at an admissible level $k$. We use a Jacobi form decomposition to see that this is a vertex operator superalgebra extension of $L_k(\mathfrak{sl}_2)\otimes \text{Vir}(p, (p+p')/2)$ where $k+3/2=p/(2p')$ and $\text{Vir}(u, v)$ denotes the regular Virasoro vert…
There is an embedding of affine vertex algebras $V^k(\mathfrak{gl}_n) \hookrightarrow V^k(\mathfrak{sl}_{n+1})$, and the coset $\mathcal{C}^k(n) = \text{Com}(V^k(\mathfrak{gl}_n), V^k(\mathfrak{sl}_{n+1}))$ is a natural generalization of the parafermion algebra of $\mathfrak{sl}_2$. It was called the algebra of generalized parafermions by the third author and was shown to arise as a one-parameter quotient of the universal two-parameter $\mathcal{W}_{\infty}$-algebra of type $\mathcal{W}(2,3,\dots)$. In this paper, we consider an analogous structure of orthogonal type, namely $\mathcal{D}^k(n) …
We introduce a subalgebra $\overline F$ of the Clifford vertex superalgebra ($bc$ system) which is completely reducible as a $L^{Vir} (-2,0)$-module, $C_2$-cofinite, but it is not conformal and it is not isomorphic to the symplectic fermion algebra $\mathcal{SF}(1)$. We show that $\mathcal{SF}(1)$ and $\overline{F}$ are in an interesting duality, since $\overline{F}$ can be equipped with the structure of a $\mathcal{SF}(1)$-module and vice versa. Using the decomposition of $\overline F$ and a free-field realization from arXiv:1711.11342, we decompose $L_k(\mathfrak{osp}(1\vert 2))$ at the crit…
The abelian and monoidal structure of the category of smooth weight modules over a non-integrable affine vertex algebra of rank greater than one is an interesting, difficult and essentially wide open problem. Even conjectures are lacking. This work details and tests such a conjecture for $L_{-\frac{3}{2}}(\mathfrak{sl}_3)$ via a logarithmic Kazhdan-Lusztig correspondence. We first investigate the representation theory of $\overline{U}^H_i(\mathfrak{sl}_3)$, the unrolled restricted quantum group of $\mathfrak{sl}_3$ at fourth root of unity. In particular, we analyse its finite-dimensional weigh…
