In this paper, we construct a scattering theory for classical massive Dirac fields near the "double" horizon of an extreme Kerr-de Sitter blackhole. Our main tool is the existence of a conjugate operator in the sense of Mourre theory. Additionally, despite the fact that effects of the rotation are 'amplified' near the double horizon, we show that one can still reduce our study to a 1-dimensional problem through an appropriate decomposition of the Hilbert space.
In this paper, we propose a survey of the basic geometric properties of Carters Kerr-de Sitter solution to Einsteins equation with positive cosmological constant. In particular, we give simple characterisations of the Kerr-de Sitter analogs of fast, slow and extreme Kerr spacetime and conclude with a discussion on maximal analytical extensions in each of these cases.
Using asymptotic characterization results of spacetimes at conformal infinity, we prove that Kerr-Schild-de Sitter spacetimes are in one-to-one correspondence with spacetimes in the Kerr-de Sitter-like class with conformally flat $\mathscr{I}$. Kerr-Schild-de Sitter are spacetimes of Kerr-Schild form with de Sitter background that solve the $(Λ>0)$-vacuum Einstein equations and admit a smooth conformal compactification sharing $\mathscr{I}$ with the background metric. Kerr-de Sitter-like metrics with conformally flat $\mathscr{I}$ are a generalization of the Kerr-de Sitter metrics, defined ori…
The Newman-Janis algorithm is well known to provide rotating black holes solutions to Einstein's equations from static seeds, through a complexification of a radial and a time coordinates. However, an ambiguity remains for the replacement of the $r^{-1}$ and $r^{-2}$ powers of the radial coordinate. We show here that the two cases are unified by a simple expression which allows its extension to the $r^{2}$ power, characteristic of the de Sitter ($dS$) and anti de Sitter ($AdS$) spacetimes. The formula leads almost automatically to the Kerr and Kerr-Newman-$dS$ and -$AdS$ metrics.
Heun-type exact solutions emerge for both the radial and the angular equations for the case of a scalar particle coupled to the zero mass limit of both the Kerr and Kerr-(anti)de-Sitter spacetime. Since any type D metric has Heun-type solutions, it is interesting that this property is retained in the zero mass case. This work further refutes the claims that $M$ going to zero limit of the Kerr metric is both locally and globally the same as the Minkowski metric.
We show asymptotic completeness for a class of superradiant Klein-Gordon equations. Our results are applied to the Klein-Gordon equation on the De Sitter Kerr metric with small angular momentum of the black hole. For this equation we obtain asymptotic completeness for fixed angular momentum of the field.
In this paper, we provide a new proof of nonlinear stability of the slowly-rotating Kerr-de Sitter family of black holes as a family of solutions to the Einstein vacuum equations with cosmological constant $Λ>0$, originally established by Hintz and Vasy in their seminal work [arXiv:1606.04014]. Using the linear theory developed in an upcoming companion paper, we prove the nonlinear stability of slowly-rotating Kerr-de Sitter using a bootstrap argument, avoiding the need for a Nash-Moser argument, and requiring initial data small only in the $H^6$ norm.
The main topic is the Goursat problem at the horizons for the Klein-Gordon equation on the De Sitter-Kerr metric when the angular momentum per unit of mass of the black hole is small. We solve the Goursat problem for fixed angular momentum n of the field (with the restriction that n is non zero in the case of a massless field).
The study of physical effects of quatum fields in black hole spacetimes, which is related to questions such as the validity of the strong cosmic censorship conjecture, requires a Hadamard state describing the physical situation. Here, we consider the theory of a free scalar field on a Kerr-de Sitter spacetime, focussing on spacetimes with sufficiently small angular momentum of the black hole and sufficiently small cosmological constant. We demonstrate that an extension of the Unruh state, which describes the expected late-time behaviour in spherically symmetric gravitational collapse, can be r…
This note addresses quasinormal mode frequencies of four-dimensional asymptotically de Sitter rotating black holes. The main motivation is that Mathematica 12.1 has implemented a new family of special functions: Heun functions. Using the fact that Teukolsky's equations for Kerr-de Sitter black holes are mapped to Heun's equations, we are able to compute their quasinormal mode frequencies by the Heun function. In this approach, Mathematica normally evaluates these frequencies to arbitrary numerical precision in a few seconds. We further discuss an application to asymptotically flat rotating bla…
We study the Laplace spectra of the intrinsic instantaneous metrics on the event and cosmological horizons of a Kerr-Newman de Sitter space-time and prove that the spectral data from these horizons uniquely determine the space-time. This is accomplished by exhibiting formulae relating the parameters of the space-time metric to the traces of invariant and equivariant Green's operators associated with these Laplacians. In particular, an interesting explicit formula for the cosmological constant is found.
Spatially homogeneous cosmological spacetimes, evolving in the presence of a positive cosmological constant and matter satisfying some reasonable energy conditions, typically approach the de Sitter geometry asymptotically (at least locally). In this work, we propose an alternate way to characterize this phenomena. We focus on a subset of such models admitting a generalized Kerr-Schild representation. We argue that the functions which define such a representation can be chosen, such that, their asymptotic behavior make the evolution towards the de Sitter spacetime manifest through the represent…
We provide the full asymptotic description of the quasi-normal modes (resonances) in any strip of fixed width for Dirac fields in slowly rotating Kerr-Newman-de Sitter black holes. The resonances split in a way similar to the Zeeman effect. The method is based on the extension to Dirac operators of techniques applied by Dyatlov 2011, 2012 to the (uncharged) Kerr-de Sitter black holes. We show that the mass of the Dirac field does not have effect on the two leading terms in the expansions of resonances.
We study the Hamilton-Jacobi and massive Klein-Gordon equations in the general Kerr-(Anti) de Sitter black hole background in all dimensions. Complete separation of both equations is carried out in cases when there are two sets of equal black hole rotation parameters. We analyze explicitly the symmetry properties of these backgrounds that allow for this Liouville integrability and construct a nontrivial irreducible Killing tensor associated with the enlarged symmetry group which permits separation. We also derive first-order equations of motion for particles in these backgrounds and examine so…
In this paper, we prove that the slowly-rotating Kerr-de Sitter family of black holes are linearly stable as a family of solutions to the Einstein vacuum equations with $Λ>0$ in harmonic (wave) gauge. This article is part of a series that provides a novel proof of the full nonlinear stability of the slowly-rotating Kerr-de Sitter family. This paper and its follow-up offer a self-contained alternative approach to nonlinear stability of the Kerr-de Sitter family from the original work of Hintz and Vasy by interpreting quasinormal modes as $H^k$ eigenvalues of an operator on a Hilbert space, and …
We show the existence of exponentially growing finite energy solutions for the charged Klein-Gordon equation on the De Sitter-Kerr-Newman metric for small charge and mass of the field and small angular momentum of the black hole. The mechanism behind is that the zero resonance that exists for zero charge, mass and angular momentum moves into the upper half plane.
Scalar and gravitational perturbations on Kerr-anti-de Sitter (Kerr-AdS) black holes have been addressed in the literature and have been shown to exhibit a rich phenomenology. In this paper we complete the analysis of bosonic fields on this background by studying Maxwell perturbations, focusing on superradiant instabilities and vector clouds. For this purpose, we solve the Teukolsky equations numerically, imposing the boundary conditions we have proposed in\cite{Wang:2015goa} for the radial Teukolsky equation. As found therein, two Robin boundary conditions can be imposed for Maxwell fields on…
It is shown that the Dirac equation is separable by variables in a five-dimensional rotating Kerr-(anti-)de Sitter black hole with two independent angular momenta. A first order symmetry operator that commutes with the Dirac operator is constructed in terms of a rank-three Killing-Yano tensor whose square is a second order symmetric Stackel-Killing tensor admitted by the five-dimensional Kerr-(anti-)de Sitter spacetime. We highlight the construction procedure of such a symmetry operator. In addition, the first law of black hole thermodynamics has been extended to the case that the cosmological…
We establish the full global non-linear stability of the Kerr-de Sitter family of black holes, as solutions of the initial value problem for the Einstein vacuum equations with positive cosmological constant, for small angular momenta, and without any symmetry assumptions on the initial data. We achieve this by extending the linear and non-linear analysis on black hole spacetimes described in a sequence of earlier papers by the authors: We develop a general framework which enables us to deal systematically with the diffeomorphism invariance of Einstein's equations. In particular, the iteration …
We prove the global non-linear stability, without symmetry assumptions, of slowly rotating charged black holes in de Sitter spacetimes in the context of the initial value problem for the Einstein-Maxwell equations: If one perturbs the initial data of a slowly rotating Kerr-Newman-de Sitter (KNdS) black hole, then in a neighborhood of the exterior region of the black hole, the metric and the electromagnetic field decay exponentially fast to their values for a possibly different member of the KNdS family. This is a continuation of recent work of the author with Vasy on the stability of the Kerr-…
Exact solutions of the Dirac general relativistic equation (DE) that describe the dynamics of a massive, electrically charged particle with half-integer spin in the curved spacetime geometry of an electrically charged, rotating Kerr-Newman-(anti) de Sitter black hole (BH) are investigated. We first, derive the DE in the Kerr-Newman-de Sitter (KNdS) BH background using a generalised Kinnersley null tetrad in the Newman-Penrose formalism. In this frame, we prove the separation of the DE into ordinary differential equations for the radial and angular parts. Under specific transformations of the i…
In this paper we develop a general, systematic, microlocal framework for the Fredholm analysis of non-elliptic problems, including high energy (or semiclassical) estimates, which is stable under perturbations. This framework is relatively simple given modern microlocal analysis, and only takes a bit over a dozen pages after the statement of notation. It resides on a compact manifold without boundary, hence in the standard setting of microlocal analysis, including semiclassical analysis. The rest of the paper is devoted to applications. Many natural applications arise in the setting of non-Riem…
