Iterated Hopf Ore extensions (IHOEs) over an algebraically closed base field k of positive characteristic p are studied. We show that every IHOE over k satisfies a polynomial identity, with PI-degree a power of p, and that it is a filtered deformation of a commutative polynomial ring. We classify all 2-step IHOEs over k, thus generalising the classification of 2-dimensional connected unipotent algebraic groups over k. Further properties of 2-step IHOEs are described: for example their simple modules are classified, and every 2-step IHOE is shown to possess a large Hopf center and hence an analog of the restricted enveloping algebra of a Lie k-algebra. As one of a number of questions listed, we propose that such a restricted Hopf algebra may exist for every IHOE over k.
In this paper, we study pointed rank one Hopf algebras and Hopf-Ore extensions of group algebras, over an arbitrary field $k$. It is proved that the rank of a Hopf-Ore extension of a group algebra is one or two or infinite. It is also shown that an arbitrary (finite or infinite dimensional) pointed Hopf algebra of rank one is isomorphic to a quotient of a Hopf-Ore extension of its coradical, a group algebra. We classify the finite dimensional simple modules and describe a family of indecomposable modules over a Hopf-Ore extension $H=kG(χ, a,δ)$ and its quotient $H'$ of rank one, where $χ(a)\ne…
Motivated by the construction of new examples of Artin-Schelter regular algebras of global dimension four, J.J. Zhang and J. Zhang (2008) introduced an algebra extension $A_P[y_1,y_2;σ,δ,τ]$ of $A$, which they called a double Ore extension. This construction seems to be similar to that of a two-step iterated Ore extension over $A$. The aim of this paper is to describe those double Ore extensions which can be presented as iterated Ore extensions of the form $A[y_1;σ_1, δ_1][y_2;σ_2, δ_2]$. We also give partial answers to some questions posed in Zhang and Zhang (2008).
We derive necessary and sufficient conditions for an Ore extension of a Hopf algebra to have a Hopf algebra structure of a certain type. This construction generalizes the notion of Hopf-Ore extension, called a generalized Hopf-Ore extension. We describe the generalized Hopf-Ore extensions of the enveloping algebras of Lie algebras. For some Lie algebras g, the generalized Hopf-Ore extensions of U(g) are classified.
For iterated Ore extensions satisfying a polynomial identity we present an elementary way of erasing derivations. As a consequence we recover some results obtained by Haynal in "PI degree parity in q-skew polynomial rings" (J. Algebra 319, 2008, 4199-4221). We also prove, under mild assumptions on $R_n=R[x_1;\si_1,\de_1]...[x_n;\si_n;\de_n]$ that the Ore extension $R[x_1;\si_1]...[x_n;\si_n]$ exists and is PI if $R_n$ is PI.
Let $B$ be a Poisson algebra $\Bbb C[x_1,\ldots, x_k]$ with Poisson bracket such that $$\{x_j,x_i\}=c_{ji}x_ix_j+p_{ji}$$ for all $j>i$, where $c_{ji}\in\Bbb C$ and $p_{ji}\in\Bbb C[x_1,\ldots,x_i]$. Here we obtain an iterated skew polynomial algebra such that its semiclassical limit is equal to $B$ and the results are illustrated by examples.
It is proved that the Poisson enveloping algebra of a double Poisson-Ore extension is an iterated double Ore extension. As an application, properties that are preserved under iterated double Ore extensions are invariants of the Poisson enveloping algebra of a double Poisson-Ore extension.
We prove that the universal enveloping algebra of a Poisson-Ore extension is a length two iterated Ore extension of the original universal enveloping algebra. As consequences, we observe certain ring-theoretic invariants of the universal enveloping algebras that are preserved under iterated Poisson-Ore extensions. We apply our results to iterated quadratic Poisson algebras arising from semiclassical limits of quantized coordinate rings and a family of graded Poisson algebras of Poisson structures of rank at most two.
Brown, O'Hagan, Zhang, and Zhuang gave a set of conditions on an automorphism $σ$ and a $σ$-derivation $δ$ of a Hopf $k$-algebra $R$ for when the skew polynomial extension $T=R[x, σ, δ]$ of $R$ admits a Hopf algebra structure that is compatible with that of $R$. In fact, they gave a complete characterization of which $σ$ and $δ$ can occur under the hypothesis that $Δ(x)=a\otimes x +x\otimes b +v(x\otimes x) +w$, with $a, b\in R$ and $v, w\in R\otimes_k R$, where $Δ: R\to R\otimes_k R$ is the comultiplication map. In this paper, we show that after a change of variables one can in fact assume th…
We investigate when a skew polynomial extension T = R[x; σ, δ] of a Hopf algebra R admits a Hopf algebra structure, substantially generalising a theorem of Panov. When this construction is applied iteratively in characteristic 0 one obtains a large family of connected noetherian Hopf algebras of finite Gelfand-Kirillov dimension, including for example all enveloping algebras of finite dimensional solvable Lie algebras and all coordinate rings of unipotent groups. The properties of these Hopf algebras are investigated.
In this paper, we study the representations of the Hopf-Ore extensions $kG(χ^{-1}, a, 0)$ of group algebra $kG$, where $k$ is an algebraically closed field. We classify all finite dimensional simple $kG(χ^{-1}, a, 0)$-modules under the assumption $|χ|=\infty$ and $|χ|=|χ(a)|<\infty$ respectively, and all finite dimensional indecomposable $kG(χ^{-1}, a, 0)$-modules under the assumption that $kG$ is finite dimensional and semisimple, and $|χ|=|χ(a)|$. Moreover, we investigate the decomposition rules for the tensor product modules over $kG(χ^{-1}, a, 0)$ when char$(k)$=0. Finally, we consider the…
Panov proved necessary and sufficient conditions to extend the Hopf algebra structure of an algebra $R$ to an Ore extension $R[x;σ,δ]$ with $x$ being a skew-primitive element. In this paper we extend Panov's result to Ore extensions over weak Hopf algebras. As an application we study Ore extensions of connected groupoid algebras.
In this paper, we continue our study of the tensor product structure of category $\mathcal W$ of weight modules over the Hopf-Ore extensions $kG(χ^{-1}, a, 0)$ of group algebras $kG$, where $k$ is an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero. We first describe the tensor product decomposition rules for all indecomposable weight modules under the assumption that the orders of $χ$ and $χ(a)$ are different. Then we describe the Green ring $r(\mathcal W)$ of the tensor category $\mathcal W$. It is shown that $r(\mathcal W)$ is isomorphic to the polynomial algebra over the group ring $\math…
We show that if $A$ is a finite dimensional associative $H$-module algebra for an arbitrary Hopf algebra $H$, then the proof of the analog of Amitsur's conjecture for $H$-codimensions of $A$ can be reduced to the case when $A$ is $H$-simple. (Here we do not require that the Jacobson radical of $A$ is an $H$-submodule.) As an application, we prove that if $A$ is a finite dimensional associative $H$-module algebra where $H$ is a Hopf algebra $H$ over a field of characteristic $0$ such that $H$ is constructed by an iterated Ore extension of a finite dimensional semisimple Hopf algebra by skew-pri…
In order to study AS-regular algebras of dimension 5, we consider dimension 5 graded iterated Ore extensions generated in degree one. We classify the possible degrees of relations and structure of the free resolution for extensions with 3 and 4 generators. We show that every known type of algebra of dimension 5 can be realized by an Ore extension and we consider which of these types cannot be realized by an enveloping algebra.
Two-dimensional integrable differential calculi for classes of Ore extensions of the polynomial ring and the Laurent polynomial ring in one variable are constructed. Thus it is concluded that all affine pointed Hopf domains of Gelfand-Kirillov dimension two which are not polynomial identity rings are differentially smooth.
Let $K$ be a field, let $σ$ be an automorphism of $K$, and let $δ$ be a derivation of $K$. We show that if $D$ is one of $K(x;σ)$ or $K(x;δ)$, then $D$ either contains a free algebra over its center on two generators, or every finitely generated subalgebra of $D$ satisfies a polynomial identity. As a corollary, we are able to show that the quotient division ring of any iterated Ore extension of an affine domain satisfying a polynomial identity either again satisfies a polynomial identity or it contains a free algebra over its center on two variables.
In this paper, we define and study the universal enveloping algebra of a Poisson superalgebra. In particular, a new PBW Theorem for Lie-Rinehart superalgebras is proved leading to a PBW Theorem for Poisson superalgebras, we show the universal enveloping algebra of a Poisson Hopf superalgebra (resp. Poisson-Ore extension) is a Hopf superalgebra (resp. iterated Ore extension), and we study the universal enveloping algebra for interesting classes of Poisson superalgebras such as Poisson symplectic superalgebras.
A differential-algebraic geometric analogue of the Dixmier-Moeglin equivalence is articulated, and proven to hold for $D$-groups over the constants. The model theory of differentially closed fields of characteristic zero, in particular the notion of analysability in the constants, plays a central role. As an application it is shown that if $R$ is a commutative affine Hopf algebra over a field of characteristic zero, and $A$ is an Ore extension to which the Hopf algebra structure extends, then $A$ satisfies the classical Dixmier-Moeglin equivalence. Along the way it is shown that all such $A$ a…
A double Ore extension was introduced by James Zhang and Jun Zhang [26] to study a class of Artin-Schelter regular algebras. Here we give a definition of Poisson double extension which may be considered as an analogue of double Ore extension and show that algebras in a class of double Ore extensions are deformation quantizations of Poisson double extensions. We also investigate the modular derivations of Poisson double extensions and the relationship between Poisson double extensions and iterated Poisson polynomial extensions. Results are illustrated by examples.
In this paper, we establish a structure theorem for connected graded Hopf algebras over a field of characteristic $0$ by claiming the existence of a family of homogeneous generators and a total order on the index set that satisfy some desirable conditions. The approach to the structure theorem is constructive, based on the combinatorial properties of Lyndon words and the standard bracketing on words. As a surprising consequence of the structure theorem, we show that connected graded Hopf algebras of finite Gelfand-Kirillov dimension over a field of characteristic $0$ are all iterated Hopf Ore …
We give infinite triangularization and strict triangularization results for algebras of operators on infinite dimensional vector spaces. We introduce a class of algebras we call Ore-solvable algebras: these are similar to iterated Ore extensions but need not be free as modules over the intermediate subrings. Ore-solvable algebras include many examples as particular cases, such as group algebras of polycyclic groups or finite solvable groups, enveloping algebras of solvable Lie algebras, quantum planes and quantum matrices. We prove both triangularization and strict triangularization results fo…
We study finite dimensional representations over some Noetherian algebras over a field of characteristic zero. More precisely, we give necessary and sufficient conditions for the category of locally finite dimensional representations to be closed under taking injective hulls and extend results known for group rings and enveloping algebras to Ore extensions, Hopf crossed products and affine Hopf algebras of low Gelfand-Kirillov dimension.
We analyse the proof of the main result of a paper by Cuadra, Etingof and Walton, which says that any action of a semisimple Hopf algebra $H$ on the $n$th Weyl algebra $A=A_n(K)$ over a field $K$ of characteristic $0$ factors through a group algebra. We verify that their methods can be used to show that any action of a semisimple Hopf algebra $H$ on an iterated Ore extension of derivation type $A=K[x_1;d_1][x_2;d_2][\cdots][x_n;d_n]$ in characteristic zero factors through a group algebra.
All iterated skew polynomial extensions arising from quantized universal enveloping algebras of Kac-Moody algebras are special examples of a very large, axiomatically defined class of algebras, called CGL extensions. For the purposes of constructing initial clusters for quantum cluster algebra structures on an algebra R, and classification of the automorphisms of R, one needs embeddings of R into quantum tori T which have the property that R contains the corresponding quantum affine space algebra A. We explicitly construct such an embedding A \subseteq R \subset T for each CGL extension R usin…
Let $H$ be a connected graded Hopf algebra over a field of characteristic zero and $K$ an arbitrary graded Hopf subalgebra of $H$. We show that there is a family of homogeneous elements of $H$ and a total order on the index set that satisfy several desirable conditions, which reveal some interesting connections between $H$ and $K$. As one of its consequences, we see that $H$ is a graded iterated Hopf Ore extension of $K$ of derivation type provided that $H$ is of finite Gelfand-Kirillov dimension. The main tool of this work is Lyndon words, along the idea developed by Lu, Shen and the second-n…
We introduce and study the definition, main properties and applications of iterated twisted tensor products of algebras, motivated by the problem of defining a suitable representative for the product of spaces in noncommutative geometry. We find conditions for constructing an iterated product of three factors, and prove that they are enough for building an iterated product of any number of factors. As an example of the geometrical aspects of our construction, we show how to construct differential forms and involutions on iterated products starting from the corresponding structures on the facto…
A combinatorial interpretation is given of Devlin's word problem underlying the classical center-focus problem of Poincare for non-autonomous differential equations. It turns out that the canonical polynomials of Devlin are from the point of view of connected graded Hopf algebras intimately related to the graded components of a Hopf algebra antipode applied to the formal power series of Ferfera. The link is made by passing through control theory since the Abel equation, which describes a center, is equivalent to an output feedback equation, and the Hopf algebra of output feedback is derived fr…
We consider systems of combinatorial Dyson-Schwinger equations (briefly, SDSE) X_1=B^+_1(F_1(X_1,...,X_N))...X_N=B^+_N(F_N(X_1,...,X_N)) in the Connes-Kreimer Hopf algebra H_I of rooted trees decorated by I={1,...,N},where B^+_i is the operator of grafting on a root decorated by i, and F_1...,F_N are non-constant formal series. The unique solution X=(X_1,...,X_N) of this equation generates a graded subalgebra H_S of H_I. We characterize here all the families of formal series (F_1,...,F_N) such that H_S is a Hopf subalgebra. More precisely, we define three operations on SDSE (change of variables…
We analyze the homothety types of associative bilinear forms that can occur on a Hopf algebra or on a local Frobenius \(k\)-algebra \(R\) with residue field \(k\). If \(R\) is symmetric, then there exists a unique form on \(R\) up to homothety iff \(R\) is commutative. If \(R\) is Frobenius, then we introduce a norm based on the Nakayama automorphism of \(R\). We show that if two forms on \(R\) are homothetic, then the norm of the unit separating them is central, and we conjecture the converse. We show that if the dimension of \(R\) is even, then the determinant of a form on \(R\), taken in \(…
Let $(A,Δ)$ be a multiplier Hopf algebra. In general, the underlying algebra $A$ need not have an identity and the coproduct $Δ$ does not map $A$ into $A\otimes A$ but rather into its multiplier algebra $M(A\otimes A)$. In this paper, we study {\it some tools} that are frequently used when dealing with such multiplier Hopf algebras and that are typical for working with algebras without identity in this context. The {\it basic ingredient} is a unital left $A$-module $X$. And the basic construction is that of extending the module by looking at linear maps $ρ:A\to X$ satisfying $ρ(aa')=aρ(a')$ wh…
A ring R shall be called F-noetherian if every finite subset of R is contained in a (left and right) noetherian subring of R . For example, every commutative ring is tightly F-noetherian in the sense that every finite subset of R generates a noetherian subring of R . F-noetherian rings have many interesting linear algebra properties which we refer to as the full strong rank condition, fully stably finite, and more generally the basic condition. We also study some basic ring-theoretic properties of F-noetherian rings such as localizations of F-noetherian rings. The F-noetherian property is pres…
