Quantum discord is an effective measure of quantum correlation introduced by Olliver and Zurek. We evaluate analytically the quantum discord for a large family of non-X-states. Exact solutions of the quantum discord are obtained of the four parametric space for non-X-states. Dynamic behavior of the quantum discord is also explored under the action of the Kraus operator.

By analyzing the symmetry of geometric global quantum discord we give an approach for deriving analytical formulae of the extremum problem which lies at the core of computing the GGQD for arbitrary two-qubit states. We study the level surfaces of quantum discord for a class of two-qubit states with parallel nonzero Bloch vectors. The dynamic behavior of quantum discord under decoherence is investigated. A type of two qubits Josephson charge system is constructed in this paper, and properties of the quantum discord (QD) as well as the differences between thermal QD and thermal entanglement were investigated. A detailed calculation shows that the magnetic flux $Φ_{Xk}$ is more efficient than the voltage $V_{Xi}$ in tuning QD. By choosing proper system parameters, one can realize the maximum QD in our two qubits Josephson charge system.
We investigate decoherence-free evolution (DFE) of quantum discord (QD) for two initially-correlated qubits in two finite-temperature reservoirs using an exactly solvable model. We study QD dynamics of the two qubits coupled to two independent Ohmic reservoirs when the two qubits are initially prepared in X-type quantum states. It is found that reservoir temperature significantly affects the DFE dynamics. We address the experimental determination of entropic quantum discord for systems made of a pair of polarization qubits. We compare results from full and partial tomography and found that the two determinations are statistically compatible, with partial tomography leading to a smaller value of discord for depolarized states. We present an efficient method to solve the quantum discord of two-qubit X states exactly. A geometric picture is used to clarify whether and when the general POVM measurement is superior to von Neumann measurement. We show that the sudden change of quantum correlation can occur even when only one part of the composite entangled state is exposed to a noisy environment. Our results are illustrated through the action of different noisy environments individually on a single qubit of quantum system. Composite noise on the whole of the quantum system is thus not the necessarily condition for the occurrence of sudden transition for quantum correlation.

We study the problem of remote control of quantum correlations (discord) in a sub-system of two qubits (receiver) via the parameters of the initial state of another sub-system of three qubits (sender) connected with the receiver by the inhomogeneous spin-1/2 chain. We introduce the notion of quantum dissension for a three-qubit system as a measure of quantum correlations. We use three equivalent expressions of three-variable mutual information. Their differences can be zero classically but not so in quantum domain. It generalizes the notion of quantum discord to a multipartite system. There can be multiple definitions of the dissension depending on the nature of projective measurements done on the subsystems.
