We show that, up to strong cocycle conjugacy, every countable exact group admits a unique equivariantly $\mathcal{O}_2$-absorbing, pointwise outer action on the Cuntz algebra $\mathcal{O}_2$ with the quasi-central approximation property (QAP). In particular, we establish the equivariant analogue of the Kirchberg $\mathcal{O}_2$-absorption theorem for these groups.
We classify equivariant *-homomorphisms between C*-dynamical systems associated to actions of finite groups on C*-algebras with the Rokhlin property. In addition, the given actions are classified. An obstruction is obtained for the Cuntz semigroup of a C*-algebra allowing such an action. We also obtain an equivariant UHF-absorption result.
For a locally compact group $G$ and a strongly self-absorbing $G$-algebra $(\mathcal{D},δ)$, we obtain a new characterization of absorption of a strongly self-absorbing action using almost equivariant completely positive maps into the underlying algebra. The main technical tool to obtain this characterization is the existence of almost equivariant lifts for equivariant completely positive maps, proved in recent work of the authors. This characterization is then used to show that an equivariant $C_0(X)$-algebra with $\mathrm{dim}_{\mathrm{cov}}(X)<\infty$ is $(\mathcal{D},δ)$-stable if and only…
We show an equivariant Kirchberg-Phillips-type absorption theorem for pointwise outer actions of discrete amenable groups on Kirchberg algebras with respect to natural model actions on the Cuntz algebras $\mathcal{O}_\infty$ and $\mathcal{O}_2$. This generalizes results known for finite groups and poly-$\mathbb{Z}$ groups. The model actions are shown to be determined, up to strong cocycle conjugacy, by natural abstract properties, which are verified for some examples of actions arising from tensorial shifts. We also show the following homotopy rigidity result, which may be understood as a prec…
We prove that each exponential functor on the category of finite-dimensional complex inner product spaces and isomorphisms gives rise to an equivariant higher (ie. non-classical) twist of $K$-theory over $G=SU(n)$. This twist is represented by a Fell bundle $\mathcal{E} \to \mathcal{G}$, which reduces to the basic gerbe for the top exterior power functor. The groupoid $\mathcal{G}$ comes equipped with a $G$-action and an augmentation map $\mathcal{G} \to G$, that is an equivariant equivalence. The $C^*$-algebra $C^*(\mathcal{E})$ associated to $\mathcal{E}$ is stably isomorphic to the section …
We define equivariant semiprojectivity for C*-algebras equipped with actions of compact groups. We prove that the following examples are equivariantly semiprojective: arbitrary finite dimensional C*-algebras with arbitrary actions of compact groups; the Cuntz algebras ${\mathcal{O}}_d$ and extended Cuntz algebras $E_d,$ for finite $d,$ with quasifree actions of compact groups; the Cuntz algebra ${\mathcal{O}}_{\infty}$ with any quasifree action of a finite group. For actions of finite groups, we prove that equivariant semiprojectivity is equivalent to a form of equivariant stability of generat…
Let $T$ be a circle and $LT$ be its loop group. Let $\mathcal{M}$ be an infinite dimensional manifold equipped with a nice $LT$-action. We construct an analytic $LT$-equivariant index for $\mathcal{M}$, and justify it in terms of noncommutative geometry. More precisely, we construct a Hilbert space $\mathcal{H}$ consisting of "$L^2$-sections of a Clifford module bundle" and a "Dirac operator" $\mathcal{D}$ which acts on $\mathcal{H}$. Then, we define an analytic index of $\mathcal{D}$ valued in the representation group of $LT$, so called Verlinde ring. We also define a "twisted crossed product…
Let $T$ be a circle group, and $LT$ be its loop group. We hope to establish an index theory for infinite-dimensional manifolds which $LT$ acts on, including Hamiltonian $LT$-spaces, from the viewpoint of $KK$-theory. We have already constructed several objects in the previous paper \cite{T}, including a Hilbert space $\mathcal{H}$ consisting of "$L^2$-sections of a Spinor bundle on the infinite-dimensional manifold", an "$LT$-equivariant Dirac operator $\mathcal{D}$" acting on $\mathcal{H}$, a "twisted crossed product of the function algebra by $LT$", and the "twisted group $C^*$-algebra of $L…
Let $A$ be a simple infinite dimensional stably finite unital C*-algebra, and let $B$ be a centrally large subalgebra of $A$. We prove that if $A$ is tracially ${\mathcal{Z}}$-absorbing if and only if $B$ is tracially ${\mathcal{Z}}$-absorbing. If $A$ and $B$ are also separable and nuclear, we prove that $A$ is ${\mathcal{Z}}$-absorbing if and only if $B$ is ${\mathcal{Z}}$-absorbing.
This paper gives a free entropy theoretic perspective on amenable absorption results for free products of tracial von Neumann algebras. In particular, we give the first free entropy proof of Popa's famous result that the generator MASA in a free group factor is maximal amenable, and we partially recover Houdayer's results on amenable absorption and Gamma stability. Moreover, we give a unified approach to all these results using $1$-bounded entropy. We show that if $\mathcal{M} = \mathcal{P} * \mathcal{Q}$, then $\mathcal{P}$ absorbs any subalgebra of $\mathcal{M}$ that intersects it diffusely …
Let $T$ be the circle group and let $LT$ be its loop group. We formulate and investigate several topological aspects of the $LT$-equivariant index theory for proper $LT$-spaces, where proper $LT$-spaces are infinite-dimensional manifolds equipped with "proper cocompact" $LT$-actions. Concretely, we introduce "$\mathcal{R}KK$-theory for infinite-dimensional manifolds", and by using it, we formulate an infinite-dimensional version of the $KK$-theoretical Poincaré duality homomorphism, and an infinite-dimensional version of the $\mathcal{R}KK$-theory counterpart of the assembly map, for proper $L…
Given a Fell bundle $\mathcal{B}=\{B_t\}_{t\in G}$ over a LCH group and a closed subgroup $H\subset G,$ we show that all the *-representations of $\mathcal{B}_H:=\{B_t\}_{t\in H}$ can be induced to *-representations of $\mathcal{B}$ by means of Fell's induction process; which we describe as induction via a *-homomorphism $q^{\mathcal{B}}_H\colon C^*(\mathcal{B})\to \mathbb{B}(X_{C^*(\mathcal{B}_H)}).$ The quotients $C^*_H(\mathcal{B}):=q^{\mathcal{B}}_H(C^*(\mathcal{B}))$ are intermediate to $C^*(\mathcal{B})= C^*_G(\mathcal{B})$ and $C^*_{r}(\mathcal{B})=C^*_{\{e\}}(\mathcal{B})$ because ever…
