We prove an equivalence of two A-infinity functors, via Orlov's Landau-Ginzburg/Calabi-Yau correspondence. One is the Polishchuk-Zaslow's mirror symmetry functor of elliptic curves, and the other is a localized mirror functor from the Fukaya category of the 2-torus to a category of noncommutative matrix factorizations. As a corollary we prove that the noncommutative mirror functor realizes homological mirror symmetry for any translation parameter $t$.
These are expository notes based on a talk given at the Superschool on derived categories and D-branes at University of Alberta in July of 2016. The goal of these notes is to give a motivated introduction to the Strominger-Yau-Zaslow (SYZ) conjecture from the point of view of homological mirror symmetry.
We study generating functions of certain shapes of planar polygons arising from homological mirror symmetry of elliptic curves. We express these generating functions in terms of rational functions of the Jacobi theta function and Zwegers' mock theta function and determine their (mock) Jacobi properties. We also analyze their special values and singularities, which are of geometric interest as well.
We investigate how ring isomorphisms between mirror closed states of compact toric Fano manifolds come from homological mirror symmetry. A natural closed-open relation on B-side is also discussed.
Polishchuk-Zaslow explained the homological mirror symmetry between Fukaya category of symplectic torus and the derived category of coherent sheaves of elliptic curves via Lagrangian torus fibration. Recently, Cho-Hong-Lau found another proof of homological mirror symmetry using localized mirror functor, whose target category is given by graded matrix factorizations. We find an explicit relation between these two approaches.
Here we carefully construct an equivalence between the derived category of coherent sheaves on an elliptic curve and a version of the Fukaya category on its mirror. This is the most accessible case of homological mirror symmetry. We also provide introductory background on the general Calabi-Yau case of The Homological Mirror Symmetry Conjecture.
We prove homological mirror symmetry for the universal centralizer $J_G$ (a.k.a Toda space), associated to any complex semisimple Lie group $G$. The A-side is a partially wrapped Fukaya category on $J_G$, and the B-side is the category of coherent sheaves on the categorical quotient of a dual maximal torus by the Weyl group action (with some modification if $G$ has a nontrivial center). This is the first and the main part of a two-part series, dealing with $G$ of adjoint type. The general case will be proved in the forthcoming second part [Jin2].
We prove the homological mirror conjecture for toric del Pezzo surfaces. In this case, the mirror object is a regular function on an algebraic torus. We show that the derived Fukaya category of this mirror coincides with the derived category of coherent sheaves on the original manifold.
We prove a conjecture on the relation between dimer models, coamoebas and vanishing cycles for the mirrors of two-dimensional toric Fano stacks of Picard number one. As a corollary, we obtain a torus-equivariant version of homological mirror symmetry for such stacks.
We study homological mirror symmetry for not necessarily compactly supported coherent sheaves on the minimal resolutions of A_n-singularities. An emphasis is put on the relation with the Strominger-Yau-Zaslow conjecture.
This paper gives a new way of constructing Landau-Ginzburg mirrors using deformation theory of Lagrangian immersions motivated by the works of Seidel, Strominger-Yau-Zaslow and Fukaya-Oh-Ohta-Ono. Moreover we construct a canonical functor from the Fukaya category to the mirror category of matrix factorizations. This functor derives homological mirror symmetry under some explicit assumptions. As an application, the construction is applied to spheres with three orbifold points to produce their quantum-corrected mirrors and derive homological mirror symmetry. Furthermore we discover an enumerativ…
We prove homological mirror symmetry for Lefschetz fibrations obtained as disconnected sums of polynomials of types A or D. The proof is based on the behavior of the Fukaya category under the addition of a polynomial of type D.
Gross and Siebert identified a class of singular Lagrangian torus fibrations which arise when smoothing toroidal degenerations, and which come in pairs that are related by mirror symmetry. We identify an immersed Lagrangian in each of these local models which supports a moduli space of objects that is isomorphic to the mirror space, and prove a homological mirror statement along the way.
In this paper, we introduce the interested reader to homological mirror symmetry. After recalling a little background knowledge, we tackle the simplest cases of homological mirror symmetry: curves of genus zero and one. We close by outlining the current state of the field and mentioning what homo- logical mirror symmetry has to say about other aspects of mirror symmetry.
In the case of toric varieties, we continue the pursuit of Kontsevich's fundamental insight, Homological Mirror Symmetry, by unifying it with the Mori program. We give a refined conjectural version of Homological Mirror Symmetry relating semi-orthogonal decompositions of the $B$-model on toric varieties to semi-orthogonal decompositions on the $A$-model on the mirror Landau-Ginzburg models. As evidence, we prove a new case of Homological Mirror Symmetry for a toric surface whose anticanonical bundle is not nef, namely a certain blow-up of $¶^2$ at three infinitesimally near points.
We introduce the notion of a tropical coamoeba which gives a combinatorial description of the Fukaya category of the mirror of a toric Fano stack. We show that the polyhedral decomposition of a real n-torus into (n + 1) permutohedra gives a tropical coamoeba for the mirror of the projective space, and prove a torus-equivariant version of homological mirror symmetry for the projective space. As a corollary, we obtain homological mirror symmetry for toric orbifolds of the projective space.
In this paper we discuss two major conjectures in Mirror Symmetry: Strominger-Yau-Zaslow conjecture about torus fibrations, and the homological mirror conjecture (about an equivalence of the Fukaya category of a Calabi-Yau manifold and the derived category of coherent sheaves on the dual Calabi-Yau manifold). Our point of view on the origin of torus fibrations is based on the standard differential-geometric picture of collapsing Riemannian manifolds as well as analogous considerations for Conformal Field Theories. It seems to give a description of mirror manifolds much more transparent than th…
We prove homological mirror symmetry for the quintic Calabi-Yau 3-fold. The proof follows that for the quartic surface by Seidel (arXiv:math/0310414) closely, and uses a result of Sheridan (arXiv:1012.3238). In contrast to Sheridan's approach (arXiv:1111.0632), our proof gives the compatibility of homological mirror symmetry for the projective space and its Calabi-Yau hypersurface.
Given an algebraic hypersurface $H=f^{-1}(0)$ in $(\mathbb{C}^*)^n$, homological mirror symmetry relates the wrapped Fukaya category of $H$ to the derived category of singularities of the mirror Landau-Ginzburg model. We propose an enriched version of this picture which also features the wrapped Fukaya category of the complement $(\mathbb{C}^*)^n\setminus H$ and the Fukaya-Seidel category of the Landau-Ginzburg model $((\mathbb{C}^*)^n,f)$. We illustrate our speculations on simple examples, and sketch a proof of homological mirror symmetry for higher-dimensional pairs of pants.
We introduce a conjecture on homological mirror symmetry relating the symplectic topology of the complement of a smooth ample divisor in a K3 surface to algebraic geometry of type III degenerations, and prove it when the degree of the divisor is either 2 or 4.
The derived category of coherent sheaves $\mathcal{T}_B$ associated to a birational cobordism which is either a weighted projective space, a stacky Atiyah flip, or a stacky blow-up of a point has a conjectural mirror Fukaya-Seidel category $\mathcal{T}_A$. The potential $W$ defining $\mathcal{T}_{A}$ has base $\mathbb{C}^*$ and exhibits a great deal of symmetry. This paper investigates the structure of the Fukaya-Seidel category for the mirror potentials. A proof of homological mirror symmetry $\mathcal{T}_A \cong \mathcal{T}_B$ for these birational cobordisms is then given.
We discuss homological mirror symmetry of Fermat polynomials in terms of derived Morita equivalence between derived categories of coherent sheaves and Fukaya-Seidel categories (a.k.a. perfect derived categories of directed Fukaya categories), and some related aspects such as stability conditions, (kinds of) modular forms, and Hochschild homologies.
Given a smooth projective toric variety X, we construct an A-infinity category of Lagrangians with boundary on a level set of the Landau-Ginzburg mirror of X. We prove that this category is quasi-equivalent to the DG category of line bundles on X. This establishes part of the Homological Mirror Conjecture for toric varieties.
In this paper we outline a setup for Homological Mirror Symmetry for manifolds of general type. Both Physics and Categorical perspectives are considered.
We study homological mirror symmetry for toric varieties, exploring the relationship between various Fukaya-Seidel categories which have been employed for constructing the mirror to a toric variety. In particular, we realize tropical Lagrangian sections as objects of a partially wrapped category and construct a Lagrangian correspondence mirror to the inclusion of a toric divisor. As a corollary, we prove that tropical sections generate the Fukaya-Seidel category, completing a Floer-theoretic proof of homological mirror symmetry for projective toric varieties. In the course of the proof, we dev…
We prove that the wrapped Fukaya category of a punctured sphere ($S^2$ with an arbitrary number of points removed) is equivalent to the triangulated category of singularities of a mirror Landau-Ginzburg model, proving one side of the homological mirror symmetry conjecture in this case. By investigating fractional gradings on these categories, we conclude that cyclic covers on the symplectic side are mirror to orbifold quotients of the Landau-Ginzburg model.
Homological mirror symmetry (HMS) asserts that the Fukaya category of a symplectic manifold is derived equivalent to the category of coherent sheaves on the mirror complex manifold. Without suitable enlargement (split closure) of the Fukaya category, certain objects of it are missing to prevent HMS from being true. One possible solution is to include coisotropic branes into the Fukaya category. This paper gives a construction for linear symplectic tori of a version of Fukaya category including coisotropic branes by using a doubling procedure, and discussing the relation between the Fukaya cate…
We formulate a constructive theory of noncommutative Landau-Ginzburg models mirror to symplectic manifolds based on Lagrangian Floer theory. The construction comes with a natural functor from the Fukaya category to the category of matrix factorizations of the constructed Landau-Ginzburg model. As applications, it is applied to elliptic orbifolds, punctured Riemann surfaces and certain non-compact Calabi-Yau threefolds to construct their mirrors and functors. In particular it recovers and strengthens several interesting results of Etingof-Ginzburg, Bocklandt and Smith, and gives a unified under…
Katzarkov has proposed a generalization of Kontsevich's mirror symmetry conjecture, covering some varieties of general type. We prove a version of this conjecture in the simplest example, relating the Fukaya category of a genus two curve to the category of Landau-Ginzburg branes on a certain singular rational surface.
We prove Kontsevich's homological mirror symmetry conjecture for certain mirror pairs arising from Batyrev-Borisov's `dual reflexive Gorenstein cones' construction. In particular we prove HMS for all Greene-Plesser mirror pairs (i.e., Calabi-Yau hypersurfaces in quotients of weighted projective spaces). We also prove it for certain mirror Calabi-Yau complete intersections arising from Borisov's construction via dual nef partitions, and also for certain Calabi-Yau complete intersections which do not have a Calabi-Yau mirror, but instead are mirror to a Calabi-Yau subcategory of the derived cate…
In 1999, Khovanov showed that a link invariant known as the Jones polynomial is the Euler characteristic of a homology theory. The knot categorification problem is to find a general construction of knot homology groups, and to explain their meaning -- what are they homologies of? Homological mirror symmetry, formulated by Kontsevich in 1994, naturally produces hosts of homological invariants. Typically though, it leads to invariants which have no particular interest outside of the problem at hand. I showed recently that there is a new family of mirror pairs of manifolds, for which homological …
This is a sequel to our paper arXiv:2008.13462, where we proposed a definition of the Morse homotopy of the moment polytope of toric manifolds. Using this as the substitute of the Fukaya category of the toric manifolds, we proved a version of homological mirror symmetry for the projective spaces and their products via Strominger-Yau-Zaslow construction of the mirror dual Landau-Ginzburg model. In this paper we go this way further and extend our previous result to the case of the Hirzebruch surface $\mathbb{F}_1$.
We prove homological mirror symmetry for the universal centralizer $J_G$ (a.k.a the Toda space), associated to any complex reductive Lie group $G$. The A-side is a partially wrapped Fukaya category on $J_G$, and the B-side is the category of coherent sheaves on the categorical quotient of a dual maximal torus by the Weyl group action (with some modification if the center of $G$ is not connected).
We prove that the derived Fukaya category of the Lefschetz fibration defined by a Brieskorn-Pham polynomial is equivalent to the triangulated category of singularities associated with the same polynomial together with a grading by an abelian group of rank one. Symplectic Picard-Lefschetz theory developed by Seidel is an essential ingredient of the proof.
We use the quilt formalism of Mau-Wehrheim-Woodward to give a sufficient condition for a finite collection of Lagrangian submanifolds to split-generate the Fukaya category, and deduce homological mirror symmetry for the standard 4-torus. As an application, we study Lagrangian genus two surfaces of Maslov class zero, deriving numerical restrictions on the intersections of such a surface with linear Lagrangian 2-tori in in the 4-torus.
We show that the base spaces of the semiuniversal unfoldings of some weighted homogeneous singularities can be identified with moduli spaces of $A_\infty$-structures on the trivial extension algebras of the endomorphism algebras of the tilting objects. The same algebras also appear in the Fukaya categories of their mirrors. Based on these identifications, we discuss applications to homological mirror symmetry for Milnor fibers, and give a proof of homological mirror symmetry for an $n$-dimensional affine hypersurface of degree $n + 2$ and the double cover of the $n$-dimensional affine space br…
In this article, we formulate a planar limited version of the B-side in homological mirror symmetry that formularizes Chern-Simons-type topological open string field theory using homotopy associative algebra ($A_{\infty}$ algebra). This formulation is based on the works by Dijkgraaf and Vafa. We show that our formularization includes gravity/gauge theory correspondence which originates in the AdS/CFT duality of Dijkgraaf-Vafa theory.
This is an expository article describing recent results of the authors and David Nadler on microlocalization, the Fukaya category, and coherent sheaves on toric varieties. The original papers are arXiv:math/0604379, arXiv:math/0612399 and arXiv:0811.1228v1.
We formulate a conjecture which describes the Fukaya category of an exact Lefschetz fibration defined by a Laurent polynomial in two variables in terms of a pair consisting of a consistent dimer model and a perfect matching on it. We prove this conjecture in some cases, and obtain homological mirror symmetry for quotient stacks of toric del Pezzo surfaces by finite subgroups of the torus as a corollary.
We prove homological mirror symmetry for Milnor fibers of simple singularities in dimensions greater than one, which are among the log Fano cases of Conjecture 1.5 in arXiv:1806.04345. The proof is based on a relation between matrix factorizations and Calabi--Yau completions. As an application, we give an explicit computation of the Hochschild cohomology group of the derived $n$-preprojective algebra of a Dynkin quiver for any $n \geq 1$, and the symplectic cohomology group of the Milnor fiber of any simple singularity in any dimension greater than one.
We study Homological Mirror Symmetry (HMS) for $A_n$-resolutions from the SYZ viewpoint. Let $X\to\bC^2/\bZ_{n+1}$ be the crepant resolution of the $A_n$-singularity. The mirror of $X$ is given by a smoothing $\check{X}$ of $\bC^2/\bZ_{n+1}$. Using SYZ transformations, we construct a geometric functor from a derived Fukaya category of $\check{X}$ to the derived category of coherent sheaves on $X$. We show that this is an equivalence of triangulated categories onto a full triangulated subcategory of $D^b(X)$, thus realizing Kontsevich's HMS conjecture by SYZ.
In this paper we consider the oscillatory integrals on Lefschetz thimbles in the Landau-Ginzburg model as the mirror of a toric Fano manifold. We show these thimbles represent the same relative homology classes as the characteristic cycles of the corresponding constructible sheaves under the equivalence of \cite{GPS18-2}. Then the oscillatory integrals on such thimbles are the same as the integrals on the characteristic cycles and relate to genus $0$ Gromov-Witten descendant potential for $X$, and this leads to a proof of Gamma II conjecture for toric Fano manifolds.
We interpret symplectic geometry as certain sheaf theory by constructing a sheaf of curved A_\infty algebras which in some sense plays the role of a "structure sheaf" for symplectic manifolds. An interesting feature of this "structure sheaf" is that the symplectic form itself is part of its curvature term. Using this interpretation homological mirror symmetry can be understood by well-known duality theories in mathematics: Koszul duality or Fourier- Mukai transform. In this paper we perform the above constructions over a small open subset inside the smooth locus of a Lagrangian torus fibration…
In this paper, we apply the idea of T-duality to projective spaces. From a connection on a line bundle on $\mathbb P^n$, a Lagrangian in the mirror Landau-Ginzburg model is constructed. Under this correspondence, the full strong exceptional collection $\mathcal O_{\mathbb P^n}(-n-1),...,\mathcal O_{\mathbb P^n}(-1)$ is mapped to standard Lagrangians in the sense of \cite{nz}. Passing to constructible sheaves, we explicitly compute the quiver structure of these Lagrangians, and find that they match the quiver structure of this exceptional collection of $\mathbb P^n$. In this way, T-duality prov…
We prove that the moduli space of the pseudo holomorphic curves in the A-model on a symplectic torus is homeomorphic to a moduli space of Feynman diagrams in the configuration space of the morphisms in the B-model on the corresponding elliptic curve. These moduli spaces determine the $A_{\infty}$ structure of the both models.
Given a punctured Riemann surface with a pair-of-pants decomposition, we compute its wrapped Fukaya category in a suitable model by reconstructing it from those of various pairs of pants. The pieces are glued together in the sense that the restrictions of the wrapped Floer complexes from two adjacent pairs of pants to their adjoining cylindrical piece agree. The $A_\infty$-structures are given by those in the pairs of pants. The category of singularities of the mirror Landau-Ginzburg model can also be constructed in the same way from local affine pieces that are mirrors of the pairs of pants.
