The Frobenius-Perron theory of an endofunctor of a category was introduced in recent years [12, 13]. We apply this theory to monoidal (or tensor) triangulated structures of quiver representations.
The Frobenius-Perron theory of an endofunctor of a $\Bbbk$-linear category (recently introduced in [CG]) provides new invariants for abelian and triangulated categories. Here we study Frobenius-Perron type invariants for derived categories of commutative and noncommutative projective schemes. In particular, we calculate the Frobenius-Perron dimension for domestic and tubular weighted projective lines, define Frobenius-Perron generalizations of Calabi-Yau and Kodaira dimensions, and provide examples. We apply this theory to the derived categories associated to certain Artin-Schelter regular and…
In this note, we characterize matrix functions that preserve the strong Perron-Frobenius property using the real Jordan canonical form of a real matrix.
We introduce the notion of the Frobenius-Perron dimension of an integral $\Bbb Z_+$-ring and give some applications of this notion to classification of finite dimensional quasi-Hopf algebras with a unique nontrivial simple module, and of quasi-Hopf and Hopf algebras of prime dimension $p$.
By the use of Perron-Frobenius theory, simple proofs are given of the Fundamental Theorem of Demography and of a theorem of Cushing and Yicang on the net reproductive rate occurring in matrix models of population dynamics. The latter result is further refined with some additional nonnegative matrix theory. When the fertility matrix is scaled by the net reproductive rate, the growth rate of the model is 1. More generally, we show how to achieve a given growth rate for the model by scaling the fertility matrix. Demographic interpretations of the results are given.
We propose a notion of Frobenius-Perron dimension for certain free $\mathbb{Z}$-modules of infinite rank and compute it for the $\mathbb{Z}$-modules of finite dimensional complex representations of unitary groups with nonnegative dominant weights. We also provide a lower bound for the Frobenius-Perron dimension of Schubert classes in the quantum cohomology of complex Grassmannians.
The Frobenius-Perron dimension for an abelian category was recently introduced. We apply this theory to the category of representations of the finite-dimensional radical squared zero algebras associated to certain modified ADE graphs. In particular, we take an ADE quiver with arrows in a certain orientation and an arbitrary number of loops at each vertex. We show that the Frobenius-Perron dimension of this category is equal to the maximum number of loops at a vertex. Along the way, we introduce a result which can be applied in general to calculate the Frobenius-Perron dimension of a radical sq…
We study the Frobenius-Perron dimension of representation-directed algebras and quotient algebras of canonical algebras of type ADE, prove that the Frobenius-Perron dimension of a representation-directed algebra is always zero and the Frobenius-Perron dimension of a quotient algebra of canonical algebras of type ADE is 0 or 1. Moreover, we give a sufficient and necessary condition for a quotient algebra of a canonical algebra of type ADE under which its Frobenius-Perron dimension is 0.
Asymptotic properties of matrices are, in general, difficult to analyze with classical mathematical techniques. In very specific cases, there is a well-known connection between the asymptotic behavior of a matrix's leading eigenvector and the corresponding "tropical" matrix, arising out of the $max$ and $min$ operations innate in tropical analysis. In this paper we examine a more general class of matrices, and explore the extent to which we can generalize the results using tropical techniques. We find that while the original results do not easily generalize, we can still make some useful state…
The spectral radius of matrix, also known as Frobenius-Perron dimension, is a useful tool for studying linear algebras and plays an important role in the classification of the representation categories of algebras. In this paper, we study the Frobenius-Perron theory of the representation categories of bound quiver algebras containing loops, find a way to calculate the Frobenius-Perron dimension of these algebras when they satisfy the commutativity condition of loops. As an application, we prove that the Frobenius-Perron dimension of the representation category of a modified ADE bounded quiver …
We prove a general version of the classical Perron-Frobenius convergence property for reducible matrices. We then apply this result to reducible substitutions and use it to produce limit frequencies for factors and hence invariant measures on the associated subshift. The analogous results are well known for primitive substitutions and have found many applications, but for reducible substitutions the tools provided here were so far missing from the theory.
In the first part we study nearly Frobenius algebras. The concept of nearly Frobenius algebras is a generalization of the concept of Frobenius algebras. Nearly Frobenius algebras do not have traces, nor they are self-dual. We prove that the known constructions: direct sums, tensor, quotient of nearly Frobenius algebras admit natural nearly Frobenius structures. In the second part we study algebras associated to some families of quivers and the nearly Frobenius structures that they admit. As a main theorem, we prove that an indecomposable algebra associated to a bound quiver $(Q,I)$ with no mon…
We consider a finite acyclic quiver $\mathcal{Q}$ and a quasi-Frobenius ring $R$. We endow the category of quiver representations over $R$ with a model structure, whose homotopy category is equivalent to the stable category of Gorenstein-projective modules over the path algebra $R\mathcal{Q}$. As an application, we then characterize Gorenstein-projective $R\mathcal{Q}$-modules in terms of the corresponding quiver $R$-representations; this generalizes a result obtained by Luo-Zhang to the case of not necessarily finitely generated $R\mathcal{Q}$-modules, and partially recover results due to Eno…
We introduce the notion of the full quiver of a representation of an algebra, which is a cover of the (classical) quiver, but which captures properties of the representation itself. Gluing of vertices and of arrows enables one to study subtle combinatorial aspects of algebras which are lost in the classical quiver. Full quivers of representations apply especially well to \Zcd\ algebras, which have properties very like those of finite dimensional algebras over fields. By choosing the representation appropriately, one can restrict the gluing to two main types: {\it Frobenius} (along the diagonal…
In this article the well known "Perron-Frobenius theory" is investigated involving the higher rank numerical range $Λ_{k}(A)$ of an irreducible and entrywise nonnegative matrix $A$ and extending the notion of elements of maximum modulus in $Λ_{k}(A)$. Further, an application of this theory to the $Λ_{k}(L(λ))$ of a Perron polynomial $L(λ)$ is elaborated via its companion matrix $C_{L}$.
In this paper, we study a preprojective algebra for quivers decorated with $k$-algebras and bimodules, which generalizes work of Gabriel for ordinary quivers, work of Dlab and Ringel for $k$-species, and recent work of de Thanhoffer de Völcsey and Presotto, which has recently appeared from a different perspective in work of Külshammer. As for undecorated quivers, we show that its moduli space of representations recovers the Hamiltonian reduction of the cotangent bundle over the space of representations of the decorated quiver. These algebras yield degenerations of ordinary preprojective algebr…
By introducing Frobenius morphisms $F$ on algebras $A$ and their modules over the algebraic closure ${\bar \BF}_q$ of the finite field $\BF_q$ of $q$ elements, we establish a relation between the representation theory of $A$ over ${\bar \BF}_q$ and that of the $F$-fixed point algebra $A^F$ over $\BF_q$. More precisely, we prove that the category $\modh A^F$ of finite dimensional $A^F$-modules is equivalent to the subcategory of finite dimensional $F$-stable $A$-modules, and, when $A$ is finite dimensional, we establish a bijection between the isoclasses of indecomposable $A^F$-modules and the …
We develop the theory of semisimple weak Hopf algebras and obtain analogues of a number of classical results for ordinary semisimple Hopf algebras. We prove a criterion for semisimplicity and analyze the square of the antipode S^2 of a semisimple weak Hopf algebra A. We explain how the Frobenius-Perron dimensions of irreducible A-modules and eigenvalues of S^2 can be computed using the inclusion matrix associated to A. A trace formula of Larson and Radford is extended to a relation between the global and Frobenius-Perron dimensions of A. Finally, an analogue of the Class Equation of Kac and Zh…
