Applications of Perron-Frobenius Theory to Population Dynamics

By the use of Perron-Frobenius theory, simple proofs are given of the Fundamental Theorem of Demography and of a theorem of Cushing and Yicang on the net reproductive rate occurring in matrix models of population dynamics. The latter result is further refined with some additional nonnegative matrix theory. When the fertility matrix is scaled by the net reproductive rate, the growth rate of the model is 1. More generally, we show how to achieve a given growth rate for the model by scaling the fertility matrix. Demographic interpretations of the results are given.

Frobenius-Perron theory for projective schemes

The Frobenius-Perron theory of an endofunctor of a $\Bbbk$-linear category (recently introduced in [CG]) provides new invariants for abelian and triangulated categories. Here we study Frobenius-Perron type invariants for derived categories of commutative and noncommutative projective schemes. On Frobenius-Perron Dimension

We propose a notion of Frobenius-Perron dimension for certain free $\mathbb{Z}$-modules of infinite rank and compute it for the $\mathbb{Z}$-modules of finite dimensional complex representations of unitary groups with nonnegative dominant weights. We also provide a lower bound for the Frobenius-Perron dimension of Schubert classes in the quantum cohomology of complex Grassmannians.

Frobenius-Perron Theory of Modified ADE Bound Quiver Algebras

The Frobenius-Perron dimension for an abelian category was recently introduced. We apply this theory to the category of representations of the finite-dimensional radical squared zero algebras associated to certain modified ADE graphs. Frobenius-Perron theory of representation-directed algebras

We study the Frobenius-Perron dimension of representation-directed algebras and quotient algebras of canonical algebras of type ADE, prove that the Frobenius-Perron dimension of a representation-directed algebra is always zero and the Frobenius-Perron dimension of a quotient algebra of canonical algebras of type ADE is 0 or 1. Moreover, we give a sufficient and necessary condition for a quotient algebra of a canonical algebra of type ADE under which its Frobenius-Perron dimension is 0.

Tropical Analysis of the Asymptotics of the Perron-Frobenius Eigenvector

Asymptotic properties of matrices are, in general, difficult to analyze with classical mathematical techniques. Perron-Frobenius theory and frequency convergence for reducible substitutions

We prove a general version of the classical Perron-Frobenius convergence property for reducible matrices. We then apply this result to reducible substitutions and use it to produce limit frequencies for factors and hence invariant measures on the associated subshift. The analogous results are well known for primitive substitutions and have found many applications, but for reducible substitutions the tools provided here were so far missing from the theory.

The higher rank numerical range of nonnegative matrices

In this article the well known "Perron-Frobenius theory" is investigated involving the higher rank numerical range $Λ_{k}(A)$ of an irreducible and entrywise nonnegative matrix $A$ and extending the notion of elements of maximum modulus in $Λ_{k}(A)$. Further, an application of this theory to the $Λ_{k}(L(λ))$ of a Perron polynomial $L(λ)$ is elaborated via its companion matrix $C_{L}$.

Matrix roots of imprimitive irreducible nonnegative matrices

Using matrix function theory, Perron-Frobenius theory, combinatorial matrix theory, and elementary number theory, we characterize, classify, and describe in terms of the Jordan canonical form the matrix pth-roots of imprimitive irreducible nonnegative matrices. Semisimple weak Hopf algebras

We develop the theory of semisimple weak Hopf algebras and obtain analogues of a number of classical results for ordinary semisimple Hopf algebras. We prove a criterion for semisimplicity and analyze the square of the antipode S^2 of a semisimple weak Hopf algebra A. Special modules over positively based algebras

We use the Perron-Frobenius Theorem to define, study and, in some sense, classify special simple modules over arbitrary finite dimensional positively based algebras. For group algebras of finite Weyl groups with respect to the Kazhdan-Lusztig basis, this agrees with Lusztig's notion of a special module introduced in [Lu1].
