The symmetric orbifold of $\mathbb{T}^4$ is the CFT dual of string theory on AdS$_3\times {\rm S}^3 \times \mathbb{T}^4$ with minimal NS-NS flux. We study its symmetry algebra and provide evidence that it does not have any deformation parameter. This suggests that the symmetric orbifold is (at least locally) the most symmetrical CFT in its moduli space.
The most general large ${\cal N}=4$ superconformal ${\cal W}_{\infty}$ algebra, containing in addition to the superconformal algebra one supermultiplet for each integer spin, is analysed in detail. It is found that the ${\cal W}_{\infty}$ algebra is uniquely determined by the levels of the two $\mathfrak{su}(2)$ algebras, a conclusion that holds both for the linear and the non-linear case. We also perform various cross-checks of our analysis, and exhibit two different types of truncations in some detail.
We present a new supersymmetric integrable model: the $N=2$ superconformal affine Liouville theory. It interpolates between the $N=2$ super Liouville and $N=2$ super sine-Gordon theories and possesses a Lax representation on the complex affine Kac-Moody superalgebra ${\hat {sl(2| 2)^{(1)}}}$. We show that the higher spin $W_{1+\infty}$-type symmetry algebra of ordinary conformal affine Liouville theory extends to a $N=2\; W_{1/2 + \infty}$-type superalgebra.
The affine Yangian of $\mathfrak{gl}_1$ is known to be isomorphic to ${\cal W}_{1+\infty}$, the $W$-algebra that characterizes the bosonic higher spin -- CFT duality. In this paper we propose defining relations of the Yangian that are relevant for the ${\cal N}=2$ superconformal version of ${\cal W}_{1+\infty}$. Our construction is based on the observation that the ${\cal N}=2$ superconformal ${\cal W}_{1+\infty}$ algebra contains two commuting bosonic ${\cal W}_{1+\infty}$ algebras, and that the additional generators transform in bi-minimal representations with respect to these two algebras. …
I summarize and discuss some recent results on formulating actions of six-dimensional superconformal field theories using the language of higher gauge theory. The latter guarantees mathematical consistency of our constructions and we review crucial aspects of this framework, such as $L_\infty$-algebras and corresponding kinematical data given by higher connections. We then show that there is a mathematically consistent non-Abelian extension of the self-dual string equation which satisfies many physical expectations. Our construction favors a particular higher gauge group leading us to higher p…
We discuss BPS solitons in gauged ${\cal N}=2$, D=4 supergravity. The solitons represent extremal black holes interpolating between different vacua of anti-de Sitter spaces. The isometry superalgebras are determined and the motion of a superparticle in the extremal black hole background is studied and confronted with superconformal mechanics. We show that the Virasoro symmetry of conformal mechanics, which describes the dynamics of the superparticle near the horizon of the extremal black hole under consideration, extends to a symmetry under the $w_{\infty}$ algebra of area-preserving diffeomor…
Based on the structure of the three-dimensional superconformal algebra we show that every irreducible ${\mathcal N}=6$ three-dimensional superconformal theory containes exactly one conserved U(1)-symmetry current in the stress tensor supermultiplet and that superconformal symmetry of every ${\mathcal N}=7$ superconformal theory is in fact enhanced to ${\mathcal N}=8$. Moreover, an irreducible ${\cal N}=8$ superconformal theory does not have any global symmetries. The first observation explains why all known examples of ${\mathcal N}=6$ superconformal theories have a global abelian symmetry.
Superconformal tensor calculus on an orbifold S^1/Z_2 is given in five-dimensional (5D) spacetime. The four-dimensional superconformal Weyl multiplet and various matter multiplets are induced on the boundary planes from the 5D supermultiplets in the bulk. We identify those induced 4D supermultiplets and clarify a general method for coupling the bulk fields to the matter fields on the boundaries in a superconformal invariant manner.
We consider the non-relativistic c -> \infty contraction limit of the (N=2k)- extended D=4 superconformal algebra su(2,2;N), introducing in this way the non-relativistic (N=2k)-extended Galilean superconformal algebra. Such a Galilean superconformal algebra has the same number of generators as su(2,2|2k). The usp(2k) algebra describes the non-relativistic internal symmetries, and the generators from the coset u(2k)/usp(2k) become central charges after contraction.
Within the framework of six-dimensional ${\cal N}=(1,0)$ conformal supergravity, we introduce new off-shell multiplets ${\cal O}{}^{*}(n)$, where $n=3,4,\dots,$ and use them to construct higher-rank extensions of the linear multiplet action. The ${\cal O}{}^{*}(n)$ multiplets may be viewed as being dual to well-known superconformal ${\cal O}(n)$ multiplets. We provide prepotential formulations for the ${\cal O}(n)$ and ${\cal O}{}^{*}(n)$ multiplets coupled to conformal supergravity. For every ${\cal O}{}^{*}(n)$ multiplet, we construct a higher derivative invariant which is superconformal on …
Aharony, Bergman, Jafferis and Maldacena have recently proposed a dual gravitational description for a family of superconformal Chern Simons theories in three spacetime dimensions. In this note we perform the one loop computation that determines the field theory superconformal index of this theory and compare with the index computed over the Fock space of dual supersymmetric gravitons. In the appropriate limit (large $N$ and large $k$) we find a perfect match.
Using the off-shell formulation for ${\cal N}=2$ conformal supergravity in four dimensions, we describe superconformal higher-spin multiplets of conserved currents in a curved background and present their associated unconstrained gauge prepotentials. The latter are used to construct locally superconformal chiral actions, which are demonstrated to be gauge invariant in arbitrary conformally flat backgrounds. The main ${\cal N}=2$ results are then generalised to the ${\cal N}$-extended case. We also present the gauge-invariant field strengths for on-shell massless higher-spin ${\cal N}=2$ superm…
This is the 8th article in the collection of reviews "Exact results in N=2 supersymmetric gauge theories", ed. J. Teschner. The article reviews the superconformal index. It is often simpler to calculate than instanton partition functions, but nevertheless allows one to perform many nontrivial checks of conjectured dualities. It turns out to admit a representation in terms of a new type of topological field theory associated to the Riemann surfaces $C$ parameterising the class $\cal S$ theories.
We analyze the constraints imposed by unitarity and crossing symmetry on the four-point function of the stress-tensor multiplet of ${\cal N}=8$ superconformal field theories in three dimensions. We first derive the superconformal blocks by analyzing the superconformal Ward identity. Our results imply that the OPE of the primary operator of the stress-tensor multiplet with itself must have parity symmetry. We then analyze the relations between the crossing equations, and we find that these equations are mostly redundant. We implement the independent crossing constraints numerically and find bou…
We find and classify the simplest ${\cal N}=2$ SUSY multiplets on AdS$_4$ which contain partially massless fields. We do this by studying representations of the ${\cal N}=2$, $d=3$ superconformal algebra of the boundary, including new shortening conditions that arise in the non-unitary regime. Unlike the ${\cal N}=1$ case, the simplest ${\cal N}=2$ multiplet containing a partially massless spin-2 is short, containing several exotic fields. More generally, we argue that ${\cal N}=2$ supersymmetry allows for short multiplets that contain partially massless spin-$s$ particles of depth $t=s-2$.
We study the quantum Seiberg-Witten periods of ${\cal N}=2$ superconformal field theories which are obtained by taking the scaling limit of ${\cal N}=2$ $SU(N_c)$ SQCD around the superconformal fixed point. The quantum Seiberg-Witten curves of these superconformal field theories are shown to be classified into the Schrödinger type and the SQCD type, which depend on flavor symmetry at the fixed point. We study the quantum periods and compute the differential operators which relate the quantum periods to the classical ones up to the fourth-order in the deformation parameter.
We provide the geometrical meaning of the ${\cal N}=4$ superconformal index. With this interpretation, the ${\cal N}=4$ superconformal index can be realized as the partition function on a Scherk-Schwarz deformed background. We apply the localization method in TQFT to compute the deformed partition function since the deformed action can be written as a $δ_ε$-exact form. The critical points of the deformed action turn out to be the space of flat connections which are, in fact, zero modes of the gauge field. The one-loop evaluation over the space of flat connections reduces to the matrix integral…
Dual conformal symmetry and Yangian symmetry are symmetries of amplitudes that have aided the study of scattering amplitudes in highly supersymmetric theories like ${\cal N}=4$ SYM and ABJM. However, in general such symmetries are absent from the theories with lesser or no supersymmetry. In this paper, we show that the tree level $2\to 2$ scattering amplitude in the 3d ${\cal N}=2$ Chern-Simons theory coupled to a fundamental chiral multiplet is dual superconformal invariant. In the 't Hooft large $N$ limit, the $2\to 2$ scattering amplitude in this theory has been shown to be tree-level exact…
We propose a prescription to calculate the superconformal index of the ${\cal N}=4$ $U(N)$ supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory with finite $N$ on the AdS side. The finite $N$ corrections are included as contributions of D3-branes wrapped around three-cycles in $\boldsymbol{S}^5$, which are calculated as the index of the gauge theories realized on the wrapped branes. The single-wrapping contribution has been studied in a previous work, and we further confirm that the inclusion of multiple-wrapping contributions correctly reproduces the higher order terms as far as we have checked numerically.
In this note we calculate the fusion coefficients for minimal series representations of the N=2 superconformal algebra by using a modified Verlinde's formula, and obtain associative and commutative fusion algebras with non-negative integral fusion coefficients at each level. Some references are added.
I review the approach [1] to the one-loop low-energy effective action in the hypermultiplet sector for N=2 superconformal models. Any such a model contains an N=2 vector multiplet and some number of hypermultiplets. We found a general expression for the low-energy effective action in the form of a proper-time integral. The leading space-time dependent contributions to the effective action are derived and their bosonic component structure is analyzed. The component action contains terms with three and four space-time derivatives of component fields and has the Chern-Simons-like form.
By coupling {\cal N}=8 superconformal matter to {\cal N}=8 superconformal Chern-Simons gravity in three dimensions we obtain theories with novel terms in the scalar potential leading to AdS_3 solutions and superconformal symmetry breaking. If we start from the theory derived by Bagger, Lambert and Gustavsson, our coupled theory either inherits the SO(4) gauge group or reduces it to SO(3). If the construction is instead based on a free matter theory we find that the gravitational topological gauging also requires the introduction of a Chern-Simons gauge sector resulting in a consistent theory f…
We summarise some of our recent works on $L_\infty$-algebras and quasi-groups with regard to higher principal bundles and their applications in twistor theory and gauge theory. In particular, after a lightning review of $L_\infty$-algebras, we discuss their Maurer-Cartan theory and explain that any classical field theory admitting an action can be reformulated in this context with the help of the Batalin-Vilkovisky formalism. As examples, we explore higher Chern-Simons theory and Yang-Mills theory. We also explain how these ideas can be combined with those of twistor theory to formulate maxima…
We find a general formula for the operator mixing on the $\mathbb{S}^4$ of chiral primary operators (CPO) for the ${\cal N}=4$ theory at large $N$ in terms of Chebyshev polynomials. As an application, we compute the correlator of a CPO and a Wilson loop, reproducing an earlier result by Giombi and Pestun obtained from a two-matrix model proposal. Finally, we discuss a simple method to obtain correlators in general ${\cal N}=2$ superconformal field theories in perturbation theory in terms of correlators of the ${\cal N}=4$ theory.
We show that extremal correlators in all Lagrangian ${\cal N}=2$ superconformal field theories with a simple gauge group are governed by the same universal Toda system of equations, which dictates the structure of extremal correlators to all orders in the perturbation series. A key point is the construction of a convenient orthogonal basis for the chiral ring, by arranging towers of operators in order of increasing dimension, which has the property that the associated two-point functions satisfy decoupled Toda chain equations. We explicitly verify this in all known SCFTs based on $\mathrm{SU}(…
We calculate the superconformal indices of recently discovered three-dimensional N=4,5 Chern-Simons-matter theories and compare them with the corresponding indices of supergravity on AdS4 times orbifolds of S7. We find perfect agreement in the large N and large k limit, provided that the twisted sector contributions at the fixed loci of the orbifolds are properly taken into account. We also discuss the index for the so-called "dual ABJM" proposal.
We construct a kappa-symmetric Green-Schwarz action for type IIA string theory on AdS_2. As a candidate holographic dual, we consider superconformal matrix quantum mechanics, given by the Marinari-Parisi model with vanishing or logarithmic superpotential. We derive that the super-eigenvalues form a consistent subsector, and that their dynamics reduces to that of the supersymmetric Calogero-Moser model. The classical string action and the matrix model both have an infinite set of conserved charges, that include an N=2 target space super-Virasoro symmetry. As a microscopic test of the duality, w…
We provide an example of an extremal chiral ${\cal N}=2$ superconformal field theory at $c=24$. The construction is based on a ${\mathbb Z}_2$ orbifold of the theory associated to the $A_{1}^{24}$ Niemeier lattice. The statespace is governed by representations of the sporadic group $M_{23}$.
We study one-loop low-energy effective action in the hypermultiplet sector for ${\cal N}=2$ superconformal models. Any such a model contains ${\cal N}=2$ vector multiplet and some number of hypermultiplets. Gauge group $G$ is assumed to be broken down to $\tilde{G}\times K$ where $K$ is an Abelian subgroup and a background vector multiplet belongs to the Cartan subalgebra corresponding to $K$. We find a general expression for the low-energy effective action in a form of a proper-time integral. The leading space-time dependent contributions to the effective action are derived and their bosonic …
Two-dimensional hybrid superstring on singular Calabi-Yau manifolds is studied by the field redefinition of the NSR formalism. The compactification on singular Calabi-Yau fourfold is described by N=2 super-Liouville theory and N=2 Landau-Ginzburg models. We examine the world-sheet topological N=4 superconformal algebra, which is useful to identify physical states of the theory. It is shown that the space-time superconformal symmetry is not compatible with this original topological algebra. A new model is proposed by modifying the topological superconformal generators, which is consistent with …
Just as parallel threebranes on a smooth manifold are related to string theory on $AdS_5\times {\bf S}^5$, parallel threebranes near a conical singularity are related to string theory on $AdS_5\times X_5$, for a suitable $X_5$. For the example of the conifold singularity, for which $X_5=(SU(2)\times SU(2))/U(1)$, we argue that string theory on $AdS_5\times X_5$ can be described by a certain ${\cal N}=1$ supersymmetric gauge theory which we describe in detail.
It was observed some time ago by Shatashvili and Vafa that superstring compactification on manifolds of exceptional holonomy gives rise to superconformal field theories with extended chiral algebras. In their paper, free field realisations are given of these extended superconformal algebras inspired by Joyce's constructions of such manifolds as desingularised toroidal orbifolds. The purpose of this note is to give another realisation of these algebras starting not from free fields, but from the superconformal algebras associated to Calabi--Yau manifolds. These superconformal algebras, original…
We show that specializations of the 4d $\mathcal{N}=2$ superconformal index labeled by an integer $N$ is given by $\textrm{Tr}\,{\cal M}^N$ where ${\cal M}$ is the Kontsevich-Soibelman monodromy operator for BPS states on the Coulomb branch. We provide evidence that the states enumerated by these limits of the index lead to a family of 2d chiral algebras $\mathcal{A}_{N}$. This generalizes the recent results for the $N=-1$ case which corresponds to the Schur limit of the superconformal index. We show that this specialization of the index leads to the same integrand as that of the elliptic genu…
In the framework of six-dimensional conformal field theories with ${\cal N}=(1,0)$ supersymmetry we develop the map between the holographic description, the field theoretical description and the associated Hanany-Witten set-ups. General expressions that calculate various observables are presented. The study of string solitons singles out a special background of Massive IIA on which we show (by explicitly finding a Lax pair) that the Neveu-Schwarz part of the string sigma model is classically integrable. We study the particular dual conformal field theory and compute some of its observables.
We present explicit free field representations for the $N=4$ doubly extended superconformal algebra, $\tilde{\cal{A}}_γ$. This algebra generalizes and contains all previous $N=4$ superconformal algebras. We have found $\tilde{\cal{A}}_γ$ to be obtained by hamiltonian reduction of the Lie superalgebra $D(2|1;α)$. In addition, screening operators are explicitly given and the associated singular vectors identified. We use this to present a natural conjecture for the Kac determinant generalizing a previous conjecture by Kent and Riggs for the singly extended case. The results support and illuminat…
We explicitly construct a family of ${\cal N}=4$ superconformal mechanics of dyonic particles, generalizing the work of Anninos et al.\,\cite{Anninos:2013nra} to an arbitrary number of particles. These mechanics are obtained from a scaling limit of the effective Coulomb branch description of ${\mathcal N}=4$ quiver quantum mechanics describing D-branes in type II Calabi-Yau compactifications. In the supergravity description of these D-branes this limit changes the asymptotics to AdS$_2\times $S$^2\times$CY$_3$. We exhibit the $D(1,2;0)$ superconformal symmetry and conserved charges of the mech…
We study the superconfomal index of four-dimensional toric quiver gauge theories using a Bethe Ansatz approach recently applied by Benini and Milan. Relying on a particular set of solutions to the corresponding Bethe Ansatz equations we evaluate the superconformal index in the large $N$ limit, thus avoiding to take any Cardy-like limit. We present explicit results for theories arising as a stack of $N$ D3 branes at the tip of toric Calabi-Yau cones: the conifold theory, the suspended pinch point gauge theory, the first del Pezzo theory and $Y^{p,q}$ quiver gauge theories. For a suitable choice…
We study surface defects in 4d $\mathcal{N}=1$ $SU(N)$ superconformal gauge theories of class $\mathcal{S}_k$ obtained from the 6d (1,0) theories of type $A_{N-1}$, which are worldvolume theories on $N$ M5-branes at $\mathbb{C}^2/\mathbb{Z}_k$ singularities, compactified on Riemann surfaces with punctures. First we apply a method based on Riemann surface description and obtain the superconformal index of the theories in the presence of surface defects labelled by arbitrary symmetric representations of $su(N)$. Then we propose another description for the same surface defects, which involves 4d-…
We show that conformal manifolds in $d\geq 3$ conformal field theories with at least 4 supercharges are Kähler-Hodge, thus extending to 3d ${\cal N}=2$ and 4d ${\cal N}=1$ similar results previously derived for 4d ${\cal N}=2$ and ${\cal N}=4$ and various types of 2d SCFTs. Conformal manifolds in SCFTs are equipped with a holomorphic line bundle ${\cal L}$, which encodes the operator mixing of supercharges under marginal deformations. Using conformal perturbation theory and superconformal Ward identities, we compute the curvature of ${\cal L}$ at a generic point on the conformal manifold. We s…
In this note we classify the necessary and the sufficient conditions that an index of a superconformal theory in $3\leq d \leq 6$ must obey for the theory to have enhanced supersymmetry. We do that by noting that the index distinguishes a superconformal multiplet contribution to the index only up to a certain equivalence class it lies in. We classify the equivalence classes in $d=4$ and build a correspondence between ${\cal N} = 1$ and ${\cal N}>1$ equivalence classes. Using this correspondence, we find a set of necessary conditions and a sufficient condition on the $d=4$ ${\cal N} = 1$ index …
We study extremal correlation functions of chiral primary operators in the large-N SU(N) ${\cal N} = 2$ superconformal QCD theory and present new results based on supersymmetric localization. We discuss extensively the basis-independent data that can be extracted from these correlators using the leading order large-N matrix model free energy given by the four-sphere partition function. Special emphasis is given to single-trace 2- and 3-point functions as well as a new class of observables that are scalars on the conformal manifold. These new observables are particular quadratic combinations of…
We use the superconformal bootstrap to derive exact relations between OPE coefficients in three-dimensional superconformal field theories with ${\cal N} \geq 4$ supersymmetry. These relations follow from a consistent truncation of the crossing symmetry equations that is associated with the cohomology of a certain supercharge. In ${\cal N} = 4$ SCFTs, the non-trivial cohomology classes are in one-to-one correspondence with certain half-BPS operators, provided that these operators are restricted to lie on a line. The relations we find are powerful enough to allow us to determine an infinite numb…
There is a complex conformal transformation, which maps the $D$ - dimensional real Minkowski space on a bounded set in the $D$ - dimensional complex vector space. It generalizes the Cayley map from $D=1$ dimensions to higher space-time dimensions. This transformation provides a very convenient coordinate picture for Conformal Field Theories called compact picture. In this paper we extend the compact picture coordinates for superconformal field theories in four space-time dimensions.
As an extension of the recent construction of generalised Fayet-Iliopoulos terms in ${\cal N}=1$ supergravity given in [1], we present self-interactions for a vector multiplet coupled to conformal supergravity. They are used to construct new models for spontaneously broken local supersymmetry.
The fermionic NSR string possesses a hidden N = 2 superconformal algebra on the world-sheet. In this work, we show how to use an isomorphism of this algebra, the so-called spectral flow, for construction of a subspace of physical states of the string, on which space-time supersymmetry acts. This construction is an alternative to the GSO-projection in string theory.
We consider the exact coupling constant dependence of extremal correlation functions of ${\cal N} = 2$ chiral primary operators in 4d ${\cal N} = 2$ superconformal gauge theories with gauge group SU(N) and N_f=2N massless fundamental hypermultiplets. The 2- and 3-point functions, viewed as functions of the exactly marginal coupling constant and theta angle, obey the tt* equations. In the case at hand, the tt* equations form a set of complicated non-linear coupled matrix equations. We point out that there is an ad hoc self-consistent ansatz that reduces this set of partial differential equation…
The embedding diagrams of representations of the N=2 superconformal algebra with central charge c=3 are given. Some non-unitary representations possess subsingular vectors that are systematically described. The structure of the embedding diagrams is largely defined by the spectral flow symmetry. As an additional consistency check the action of the spectral flow on the characters is calculated.
A quantum deformation of 4-dimensional superconformal algebra realized on quantum superspace is investigated. We study the differential calculus and the action of the quantum generators corresponding to $sl_q(1|4)$ which act on the quantum superspace. We derive deformed $su(1|2,2)$ algebras from the deformed $sl(1|4)$ algebra. Through a contraction procedure we obtain a deformed super-Poincar{é} algebra.
This review covers a number of applications of conformal field theory methods for perturbative calculations in N=4 Super Yang-Mills and ABJM theory. After motivating the role of superconformal symmetry for elementary particle physics research, we review some basic facts about conformal symmetry and conformal transformations of fields in a pedagogical manner. The implications for perturbative quantum field theory calculations are discussed in terms of Ward identities. Recent developments and relations between amplitudes, correlators and Wilson loops are reviewed for N=4 Super Yang-Mills as well…
We consider the 4d superconformal index for ${\cal N}=2$ gauge theories on $S^1 \times L(r,1)$, where $L(r,1)$ is a Lens space. We focus on a one-parameter slice of the three-dimensional fugacity space and in that sector we show S-duality. We do so by rewriting the index in a way that resembles a correlation function of a 2d TFT, which however, we do not identify.
We develop a general formalism to study the three-point correlation functions of conserved higher-spin supercurrent multiplets $J_{α(r) \dotα(r)}$ in 4D ${\cal N}=1$ superconformal theory. All the constraints imposed by ${\cal N}=1$ superconformal symmetry on the three-point function $\langle J_{α(r_1) \dotα(r_1)} J_{β(r_2) \dotβ(r_2) }J_{γ(r_3) \dotγ(r_3)}\rangle$ are systematically derived for arbitrary $r_1, r_2, r_3$, thus reducing the problem mostly to computational and combinatorial. As an illustrative example, we explicitly work out the allowed tensor structures contained in $\langle J_…
We propose a new duality between two 3d $\mathcal{N}=8$ superconformal Chern-Simons-matter theories: the $U(3)_1 \times U(3)_{-1}$ ABJM theory and a theory consisting of the product between the $\left(SU(2)_3\times SU(2)_{-3}\right)/\mathbb{Z}_2$ BLG theory and a free ${\cal N} = 8$ theory of eight real scalars and eight Majorana fermions. As evidence supporting this duality, we show that the moduli spaces, superconformal indices, $S^3$ partition functions, and certain OPE coefficients of BPS operators in the two theories agree.
We consider the expectation value $\langle \cal W \rangle$ of the circular BPS Wilson loop in ${\cal N}=2$ superconformal $SU(N)$ gauge theory containing a vector multiplet coupled to two hypermultiplets in rank-2 symmetric and antisymmetric representations. This model admits a regular large $N$ expansion, is planar-equivalent to ${\cal N}=4$ SYM theory and is expected to be dual to a certain orbifold/orientifold projection of AdS$_5\times S^5$ superstring theory. On the string theory side $\langle\cal W \rangle $ is represented by the path integral expanded near the same AdS$_2$ minimal surfa…
We study a superconformal index for ${\cal N}=4$ super Yang-Mills on $S^1 \times S^3$ with a half BPS duality domain wall inserted at the great two-sphere in $S^3$. The index is obtained by coupling the 3d generalized superconformal index on the duality domain wall with 4d half-indices. We further consider insertions of line operators to the configuration and propose integral equations which express that the 3d index on duality domain wall is a duality kernel relating half indices of two line operators related by the duality map. We explicitly check the proposed integral equations for various …
The supergravity dual of superconformal anomaly in a four-dimensional supersymmetric gauge theory is investigated. We consider a well-established dual correspondence between the ${\cal N}=1$ $SU(N+M)\times SU(N)$ supersymmetric gauge theory with two flavors of matter fields in the bifundamental representation of gauge group and the type IIB superstring in the space-time background furnished by the Klebanov-Strassler (K-S) solution. The D-brane configuration for these two dual theories consists of N D3 branes and M fractional $D3$ branes in the singular space-time composed of a direct product o…
The particular model of d5 higher derivative gravity which is dual to ${\cal N}=2$ $Sp(N)$ SCFT is considered. A (perturbative) AdS black hole in such theory is constructed in the next-to-leading order of the AdS/CFT correspondence. The surface counterterms are fixed by the conditions required for a well-defined variational procedure and the finiteness of AdS space (when the brane goes to infinity). A dynamical brane is realized at the boundary of an AdS black hole with a radius that is larger than the horizon radius. The AdS/CFT correspondence dictates the parameters of the gravitational dual…
It was known that the ABJM matrix model is dual to the topological string theory on a Calabi-Yau manifold. Using this relation it was possible to write down the exact instanton expansion of the partition function of the ABJM matrix model. The expression consists of a universal function constructed from the free energy of the refined topological string theory with an overall topological invariant characterizing the Calabi-Yau manifold. In this paper we explore two other superconformal Chern-Simons theories of the circular quiver type. We find that the partition function of one theory enjoys the…
We study a class of two-dimensional ${\cal N}=(0, 4)$ quiver gauge theories that flow to superconformal field theories. We find dualities for the superconformal field theories similar to the 4d ${\cal N}=2$ theories of class ${\cal S}$, labelled by a Riemann surface ${\cal C}$. The dual descriptions arise from various pair-of-pants decompositions, that involves an analog of the $T_N$ theory. Especially, we find the superconformal index of such theories can be written in terms of a topological field theory on ${\cal C}$. We interpret this class of SCFTs as the ones coming from compactifying 6d …
We use AGT correspondence between N=2 SUSY Yang-Mills theory on ${\mathbb R}^4/{\mathbb Z}_2$ and two-dimensional CFT model with the algebra $ {\cal H} \oplus \hat{sl}(2)_2 \oplus \text{NSR}$ to obtain the explicit expressions for 4-point NSR conformal blocks including Ramond fields in terms of Nekrasov partition functions and correlation functions of $\hat{sl}(2)_2$ WZW model.
