A subspace H of a Leibniz algebra L is called a quasi-ideal if [H;K] + [K;H] \subseteq H + K for every subspace K of L. They include ideals and subalgebras of codimension one in L. Quasi-ideals of Lie algebras were classified in two remarkable papers of Amayo. The objective here is to extend those results to the larger class of Leibniz algebras, and to classify those Leibniz algebras in which every subalgebra is a quasi-ideal.
A subalgebra $B$ of a Leibniz algebra $L$ is called a weak c-ideal of $L$ if there is a subideal $C$ of $L$ such that $L=B+C$ and $B\cap C\subseteq B_{L}$ where $B_{L}$ is the largest ideal of $L$ contained in $B.$ This is analogous to the concept of a weakly c-normal subgroup, which has been studied by a number of authors. We obtain some properties of weak c-ideals and use them to give some characterisations of solvable and supersolvable Leibniz algebras generalising previous results for Lie algebras. We note that one-dimensional weak c-ideals are c-ideals, and show that a result of Turner cl…
A subalgebra S of a Leibniz algebra L is called self-idealizing in L if it coincides with its idealizer IL(S). In this paper we study the structure of Leibniz algebras, whose subalgebras are either ideals or self-idealizing.
This paper concerns the study of Leibniz algebras, a natural generalization of Lie algebras, from the perspective of centralizers of elements. We study conditions on Leibniz algebras under which centralizers of all elements are ideals. We call a Leibniz algebra, a CL-algebra if centralizers of all elements are ideals. We discuss nilpotency of CL-algebras.
In this paper, we compare the abelian subalgebras and ideals of maximal dimension for finite-dimensional Leibniz algebras. We study Leibniz algebras containing abelian subalgebras of codimension 1, solvable and supersolvable Leibniz algebras for codimensions 1 and 2, nilpotent Leibniz algebras in case of codimension 2 and we also analyze the case of k-abelian p-filiform Leibniz algebras. Throughout the paper, we also give examples to clarify some results and the need for restrictions on the underlying field.
The paper is devoted to the so-called complete Leibniz algebras. It is known that a Lie algebra with a complete ideal is split. We will prove that this result is valid for Leibniz algebras whose complete ideal is a solvable algebra such that the codimension of nilradical is equal to the number of generators of the nilradical.
In this paper we classify solvable Leibniz algebras whose nilradical is a null-filiform algebra. We extend the obtained classification to the case when the solvable Leibniz algebra is decomposed as a direct sum of its nilradical, which is a direct sum of null-filiform ideals, and a one-dimensional complementary subspace. Moreover, in this case we establish that these ideals are ideals of the algebra, as well.
Engel subalgebras of finite-dimensional Leibniz algebras are shown to have similar properties to those of Lie algebras. Using these, it is shown that a left Leibniz algebra, all of whose maximal subalgebras are right ideals, is nilpotent. A primitive Leibniz algebra is shown to split over its minimal ideal and that all the complements to its minimal ideal are conjugate. A subalgebra is shown to be a Cartan subalgebra if and only if it is minimal Engel, provided that the field has sufficiently many elements. Cartan subalgebras are shown to have a property analogous to intravariance.
We extend results related to maximal subalgebras and ideals from Lie to Leibniz algebras. In particular, we classify minimal non-elementary Leibniz algebras and Leibniz algebras with a unique maximal ideal. In both cases, there are types of these algebras with no Lie algebra analogue. We also give a classification of E-Leibniz algebras which is very similiar to its Lie algebra counterpart.
Ideals that share properties with the Frattini ideal of a Leibniz algebra are studied. Similar investigations have been considered in group theory. However most of the results are new for Lie algebras. Many of the results involve nilpotency of these algebras.
The present article is a part of the study of solvable Leibniz algebras with a given nilradical. In this paper solvable Leibniz algebras, whose nilradicals is naturally graded quasi-filiform algebra and the complemented space to the nilradical has maximal dimension, are described up to isomorphism.
The present article is a part of the study of solvable Leibniz algebras with a given nilradical. In this paper solvable Leibniz algebras, whose nilradicals is naturally graded quasi-filiform algebra and the complemented space to the nilradical has one dimension, are described up to isomorphism.
For a sequence of the naturally graded quasi-filiform Leibniz algebra of second type $\mathcal{L}^4$ introduced by Camacho, Gómez, González and Omirov, all the possible right solvable indecomposable extensions over the field $\Bbb C$ are constructed.
In this paper solvable Leibniz algebras whose nilradical is quasi-filiform Lie algebra of maximum length, are classified. The rigidity of such Leibniz algebras with two-dimensional complemented space to nilradical is proved.
The $n$-dimensional $p$-filiform Leibniz algebras of maximum length have already been studied with $0\leq p\leq 2$. For Lie algebras whose nilindex is equal to $n-2$ there is only one characteristic sequence, $(n-2,1,1)$, while in Leibniz theory we obtain two possibilities: $(n-2,1,1)$ and $(n-2,2)$. The first case (the 2-filiform case) is already known. The present paper deals with the second case, i.e., quasi-filiform non Lie Leibniz algebras of maximum length. Therefore this work completes the study of maximum length of Leibniz algebras with nilindex $n-p$ with $0 \leq p \leq 2$.
From the theory of finite dimensional Lie algebras it is known that every finite dimensional Lie algebra is decomposed into a semidirect sum of semisimple subalgebra and solvable radical. Moreover, due to work of Mal'cev the study of solvable Lie algebras is reduced to the study of nilpotent ones. For the finite dimensional Leibniz algebras the analogues of the mentioned results are not proved yet. In order to get some idea how to establish the results we examine the Leibniz algebra for which the quotient algebra with respect to the ideal generated by squares elements of the algebra (denoted b…
In this paper we investigate Leibniz algebras whose quotient Lie algebra is a naturally graded filiform Lie algebra $n_{n,1}.$ We introduce a Fock module for the algebra $n_{n,1}$ and provide classification of Leibniz algebras $L$ whose corresponding Lie algebra $L/I$ is the algebra $n_{n,1}$ with condition that the ideal $I$ is a Fock $n_{n,1}$-module, where $I$ is the ideal generated by squares of elements from $L$.
We introduce the notion of c-nilpotent Schur Lie-multiplier of Leibniz algebras. We obtain exact sequences and formulas of the dimensions of the underlying vector spaces relating the c-nilpotent Schur Lie-multiplier of a Leibniz algebra Q and its quotient by a two-sided ideal. These tools are used to characterize Lie-nilpotency and c-Lie-stem covers of Leibniz algebras. We prove the existence of c-Lie-stem covers for finite dimensional Leibniz algebras and the non existence of c-covering on certain Lie-nilpotent Leibniz algebras with non trivial c-nilpotent Schur Lie-multiplier, and we provide…
For a sequence of the naturally graded quasi-filiform Leibniz algebra of second type $\mathcal{L}^2$ introduced by Camacho, Gómez, González and Omirov, all possible right and left solvable indecomposable extensions over the field $\Bbb R$ are constructed so that the algebra serves as the nilradical of the corresponding solvable Leibniz algebras we find in the paper.
From the Levi's Theorem it is known that every finite dimensional Lie algebra over a field of characteristic zero is decomposed into semidirect sum of solvable radical and semisimple subalgebra. Moreover, semisimple part is the direct sum of simple ideals. In \cite{Bar} the Levi's theorem is extended to the case of Leibniz algebras. In the present paper we investigate the semisimple Leibniz algebras and we show that the splitting theorem for semisimple Leibniz algebras is not true. Moreover, we consider some special classes of the semisimple Leibniz algebras and find a condition under which th…
In the paper the class of all solvable extensions of a filiform Leibniz algebra in the infinite-dimensional case is classified. The filiform Leibniz algebra is taken as a maximal pro-nilpotent ideal of residually solvable Leibniz algebra. It is proven that the second cohomology group of the extension is trivial.
Moens proved that a finite-dimensional Lie algebra over field of characteristic zero is nilpotent if and only if it has an invertible Leibniz-derivation. In this article we prove the analogous results for finite-dimensional Malcev, Jordan, (-1,1)-, quasiassociative, quasialternative, right alternative and Malcev-admissible noncommutative Jordan algebras over the field of characteristic zero. Also, we describe all Leibniz-derivations of semisimple Jordan, right alternative and Malcev algebras.
In this paper, we elaborate Gröbner-Shirshov bases method for Leibniz (super)algebras. We show that there is a unique reduced Gröbner-Shirshov basis for every (graded) ideal of a free Leibniz (super)algebra. As applications, we construct linear bases of free metabelian Leibniz superalgebras and new linear bases of free metabelian Lie algebras. We present a complete characterization of extensions of a Leibniz (super)algebra by another Leibniz (super)algebra, where the former is presented by generators and relations.
The first aim of this paper is to introduce and study symmetric (Bi)Hom-Leibniz algebras, which are left and right Leibniz algebras. We discuss $α^kβ^l$-generalized derivations, $α^kβ^l$ -quasi-derivations and $α^kβ^l$-quasi-centroid of (Bi)Hom-Leibniz algebras and colour BiHom-Leibniz algebras. The second aim is to define a new type of BiHom-Lie algebras satisfies the following hierarchy \begin{equation*} \displaystyle \{ \text{ BiHom-Lie type $B_1$} \}\supseteq_{β=id} \{ \text{ Hom-Lie} \}\supseteq_{α=id} \{ \text{ Lie} \}. \end{equation*} Moreover, define representations and a cohomology of…
In this work we study Leibniz algebras whose second-maximal subalgebras are ideals. We provide a classification based on solvability, nilpotency, and the size of the derived algebra. We give specific descriptions of those Leibniz algebras whose derived algebra has codimension zero or one. This includes several algebras which are only possible over certain fields.
In this paper we describe solvable Leibniz algebras whose quotient algebra by one-dimensional ideal is a Lie algebra with rank equal to the length of the characteristic sequence of its nilpotent radical. We prove that such Leibniz algebra is unique and centerless. Also it is proved that the first and the second cohomology groups of the algebra with coefficients in itself is trivial.
Zassenhaus has proved that if U is a subnormal subalgebra of a finite-dimensional Lie algebra L and V is a finite-dimensional irreducible L-module, then all U-module composition factors of V are isomorphic. Schenkman has proved that if U is a subnormal subalgebra of a finite-dimensional Lie algebra L, then the nilpotent residual of U is an ideal of L. These useful results generalise to Leibniz algebras.
In this paper we describe some Leibniz algebras whose corresponding Lie algebra is four-dimensional Diamond Lie algebra $\mathfrak{D}$ and the ideal generated by the squares of elements (further denoted by $I$) is a right $\mathfrak{D}$-module. Using description \cite{Cas} of representations of algebra $\mathfrak{D}$ in $\mathfrak{sl}(3,{\mathbb{C}})$ and $\mathfrak{sp}(4,{\mathbb{F}})$ where ${\mathbb{F}}={\mathbb{R}}$ or ${\mathbb{C}}$ we obtain the classification of above mentioned Leibniz algebras. Moreover, Fock representation of Heisenberg Lie algebra was extended to the case of the alge…
The "coquecigrue" problem for Leibniz algebras is that of finding an appropriate generalization of Lie's third theorem, that is, of finding a generalization of the notion of group such that Leibniz algebras are the corresponding tangent algebra structures. The difficulty is determining exactly what properties this generalization should have. Here we show that \emph{Lie racks}, smooth left distributive structures, have Leibniz algebra structures on their tangent spaces at certain distinguished points. One way of producing racks is by conjugation in \emph{digroups}, a generalization of group whi…
We introduce the class of split regular Hom-Leibniz algebras as the natural generalization of split Leibniz algebras and split regular Hom-Lie algebras. By developing techniques of connections of roots for this kind of algebras, we show that such a split regular Hom-Leibniz algebra $L$ is of the form $L = U + \sum\limits_{[j] \in Λ/\sim}I_{[j]}$ with $U$ a subspace of the abelian subalgebra $H$ and any $I_{[j]}$, a well described ideal of $L$, satisfying $[I_{[j]}, I_{[k]}] = 0$ if $[j]\neq [k]$. Under certain conditions, in the case of $L$ being of maximal length, the simplicity of the algebr…
We introduce and provide a classification theorem for the class of Heisenberg-Fock Leibniz algebras. This category of algebras is formed by those Leibniz algebras $L$ whose corresponding Lie algebras are Heisenberg algebras $H_n$ and whose ${H_n}$-modules $I$, where $I$ denotes the ideal generated by the squares of elements of $L$, are isomorphic to Fock modules. We also consider the three-dimensional Heisenberg algebra $H_3$ and study three classes of Leibniz algebras with $H_3$ as corresponding Lie algebra, by taking certain generalizations of the Fock module. Moreover, we describe the class…
In the present paper we describe Leibniz algebras with three-dimensional Euclidean Lie algebra $\mathfrak{e}(2)$ as its liezation. Moreover, it is assumed that the ideal generated by the squares of elements of an algebra (denoted by $I$) as a right $\mathfrak{e}(2)$-module is associated to representations of $\mathfrak{e}(2)$ in $\mathfrak{sl}_2({\mathbb{C}})\oplus \mathfrak{sl}_2({\mathbb{C}}), \mathfrak{sl}_3({\mathbb{C}})$ and $\mathfrak{sp}_4(\mathbb{C})$. Furthermore, we present the classification of Leibniz algebras with general Euclidean Lie algebra ${\mathfrak{e(n)}}$ as its liezation …
This paper is primarily concerned with studying finite-dimensional anti-commutative nonassociative algebras in which every centralizer is an ideal. These are shown to be anti-associative and are classified over a general field $F$; in particular, they are nilpotent of class at most $3$ and metabelian. These results are then applied to show that a Leibniz algebra over a field of charactersitic zero in which all centralizers are ideals is solvable.
We introduce and describe the class of split regular $Hom$-Leibniz color $3$-algebras as the natural extension of the class of split Lie algebras, split Leibniz algebras, split Lie $3$-algebras, split Lie triple systems, split Leibniz $3$-algebras, and some other algebras. More precisely, we show that any of such split regular $Hom$-Leibniz color $3$-algebras $T$ is of the form ${T}={\mathcal U} +\sum\limits_{j}I_{j}$, with $\mathcal U$ a subspace of the $0$-root space ${T}_0$, and $I_{j}$ an ideal of $T$ satisfying {for} $j\neq k:$ \[[{ T},I_j,I_k]+[I_j,{ T},I_k]+[I_j,I_k,T]=0.\] Moreover, if…
In this paper we identify the structure of complex finite-dimensional Leibniz algebras with associated Lie algebras $sl_2^1\oplus sl_2^2\oplus \dots \oplus sl_2^s\oplus R,$ where $R$ is a solvable radical. The classifications of such Leibniz algebras in the cases $dim R=2, 3$ and $dim I\neq 3$ have been obtained. Moreover, we classify Leibniz algebras with $L/I\cong sl_2^1\oplus sl_2^2$ and some conditions on ideal $I=id<[x,x] \ | \ x\in L>.$
In this paper we construct a minimal faithful representation of the $(2m+2)$-dimensional complex general Diamond Lie algebra, $\mathfrak{D}_m(\mathbb{C})$, which is isomorphic to a subalgebra of the special linear Lie algebra $\mathfrak{sl}(m+2,\mathbb{C})$. We also construct a faithful representation of the general Diamond Lie algebra $\mathfrak{D}_m$ which is isomorphic to a subalgebra of the special symplectic Lie algebra $\mathfrak{sp}(2m+2,\mathbb{R})$. Furthermore, we describe Leibniz algebras with corresponding $(2m+2)$-dimensional general Diamond Lie algebra $\mathfrak{D}_m$ and ideal …
Given a symmetric Leibniz algebra $(\mathcal{L},.)$, the product is Lie-admissible and defines a Lie algebra bracket $[\;,\;]$ on $\mathcal{L}$. Let $G$ be the connected and simply-connected Lie group associated to $(\mathcal{L},[\;,\;])$. We endow $G$ with a Lie rack structure such that the right Leibniz algebra induced on $T_eG$ is exactly $(\mathcal{L},.)$. The obtained Lie rack is said to be associated to the symmetric Leibniz algebra $(\mathcal{L},.)$. We classify symmetric Leibniz algebras in dimension 3 and 4 and we determine all the associated Lie racks. Some of such Lie racks give ris…
In this paper, we introduce the notion of the Hom-Leibniz-Rinehart algebra as an algebraic analogue of Hom-Leibniz algebroid, and prove that such an arbitrary split regular Hom-Leibniz-Rinehart algebra $L$ is of the form $L=U+\sum_γI_γ$ with $U$ a subspace of a maximal abelian subalgebra $H$ and any $I_γ$, a well described ideal of $L$, satisfying $[I_γ, I_δ]= 0$ if $[γ]\neq [δ]$. In the sequel, we develop techniques of connections of roots and weights for split Hom-Leibniz-Rinehart algebras respectively. Finally, we study the structures of tight split regular Hom-Leibniz-Rinehart algebras.
We study the structure of a $3-$Leibniz algebra $T$ graded by an arbitrary abelian group $G,$ which is considered of arbitrary dimension and over an arbitrary base field $\bbbf.$ We show that $T$ is of the form $T=\uu\oplus\sum_jI_j,$ with $\uu$ a linear subspace of $T_1,$ the homogeneous component associated to the unit element $1$ in $G,$ and any $I_j$ a well described graded ideal of $T,$ satisfying $$ [I_j, T, I_k] = [I_j, I_k, T] = [T, I_j, I_k] = 0, $$ if $j\neq k.$ In the case of $T$ being of maximal length, we characterize the gr-simplicity of the algebra in terms of connections in the…
For a free presentation $0 \to R \to F \to G \to 0$ of a Leibniz algebra $G$, the Baer invariant ${\cal M}^{\sf Lie}(G) = \frac{R \cap [F, F]_{Lie}}{[F, R]_{Lie}}$ is called the Schur multiplier of $G$ relative to the Liezation functor or Schur Lie-multiplier. For a two-sided ideal $N$ of a Leibniz algebra $G$, we construct a four-term exact sequence relating the Schur Lie-multiplier of $G$ and $G/N$, which is applied to study and characterize Lie-nilpotency, Lie-stem covers and Lie-capability of Leibniz algebras.
The goal of this paper is to study the structure of split regular BiHom-Leiniz superalgebras, which is a natural generalization of split regular Hom-Leiniz algebras and split regular BiHom-Lie superalgebras. By developing techniques of connections of roots for this kind of algebras, we show that such a split regular BiHom-Leiniz superalgebras $\mathfrak{L}$ is of the form $\mathfrak{L}=U+\sum_{\a}I_\a$ with $U$ a subspace of a maximal abelian subalgebra $H$ and any $I_{\a}$, a well described ideal of $\mathfrak{L}$, satisfying $[I_\a, I_\b]= 0$ if $[\a]\neq [\b]$. In the case of $\mathfrak{L}$…
Let $L_n$ be the free metabelian Leibniz algebra generated by the set $X_n=\{x_1,\ldots,x_n\}$ over a field $K$ of characteristic zero. This is the free algebra of rank $n$ in the variety of solvable of class $2$ Leibniz algebras. We call an element $s(X_n)\in L_n$ symmetric if $s(x_{σ(1)},\ldots,x_{σ(n)})=s(x_1,\ldots,x_n)$ for each permutation $σ$ of $\{1,\ldots,n\}$. The set $L_n^{S_n}$ of symmetric polynomials of $L_n$ is the algebra of invariants of the symmetric group $S_n$. Let $K[X_n]$ be the usual polynomial algebra with indeterminates from $X_n$. The description of the algebra $K[X_n…
