In this paper, we study the global regularity estimates in Lorentz spaces for gradients of solutions to quasilinear elliptic equations with measure data of the form \begin{eqnarray*} \left\{ \begin{array}{rcl} -{\rm div}(\mathcal{A}(x, \nabla u))&=& μ\quad \text{in} ~Ω, u&=&0 \quad \text{on}~ \partial Ω, \end{array}\right. \end{eqnarray*} where $μ$ is a finite signed Radon measure in $Ω$, $Ω\subset \mathbb{R}^n$ is a bounded domain such that its complement $\mathbb{R}^n\backslashΩ$ is uniformly $p$-thick and $\mathcal{A}$ is a Carathéodory vector valued function satisfying growth and monotonicity conditions for the strongly singular case $1<p\leq \frac{3n-2}{2n-1}$. Our result extends the earlier results \cite{55Ph0,Tran19} to the strongly singular case $1<p\leq \frac{3n-2}{2n-1}$ and a recent result \cite{HP} by considering rough conditions on the domain $Ω$ and the nonlinearity $\mathcal{A}$.
We consider the two-dimensional quasilinear wave equations with standard null-form type quadratic nonlinearities. We prove global wellposedness without using the Lorentz boost vector fields.
Lorentz and Lorentz-Morrey estimates are obtained for gradients of very weak solutions to quasilinear equations of the form $$\text{div}\,\mathcal{A}(x, \nabla u)=\text{div}\, |{\bf f}|^{p-2}{\bf f},$$ where $\text{div}\,\mathcal{A}(x, \nabla u)$ is modelled after the $p$-Laplacian, $p>1$. The estimates are global over bounded domains that satisfy a mild exterior uniform thickness condition that involves the $p$-capacity. The vector field datum ${\bf f}$ is allowed to have low degrees of integrability and thus solutions may not have finite $L^p$ energy. A higher integrability result at the bou…
In historical mathematics and physics, the Kardar-Parisi-Zhang equation or a quasilinear stationary version of a time-dependent viscous Hamilton-Jacobi equation in growing interface and universality classes, is also known by the different name as the quasilinear Riccati type equation. The existence of solutions to this type of equation under some assumptions and requirements, still remains an interesting open problem at the moment. In our previous studies \cite{MP2018, MPT2019}, we obtained the global bounds and gradient estimates for quasilinear elliptic equations with measure data. There hav…
This paper continues the development of regularity results for quasilinear measure data problems \begin{align*} \begin{cases} -\mathrm{div}(A(x,\nabla u)) &= μ\quad \text{in} \ \ Ω, \\ \quad \quad \qquad u &=0 \quad \text{on} \ \ \partial Ω, \end{cases} \end{align*} in Lorentz and Lorentz-Morrey spaces, where $Ω\subset \mathbb{R}^n$ ($n \ge 2$), $μ$ is a finite Radon measure on $Ω$, and $A$ is a monotone Carathéodory vector valued operator acting between $W^{1,p}_0(Ω)$ and its dual $W^{-1,p'}(Ω)$. It emphasizes that this paper studies the `very singular' case $1<p \le \frac{3n-2}{2n-1}$ and th…
We obtain existence and global regularity estimates for gradients of solutions to quasilinear elliptic equations with measure data whose prototypes are of the form $-{\rm div} (|\nabla u|^{p-2} \nabla u)= δ\, |\nabla u|^q +μ$ in a bounded main $\Om\subset\RR^n$ potentially with non-smooth boundary. Here either $δ=0$ or $δ=1$, $μ$ is a finite signed Radon measure in $Ω$, and $q$ is of linear or super-linear growth, i.e., $q\geq 1$. Our main concern is to extend earlier results to the strongly singular case $1<p\leq \frac{3n-2}{2n-1}$. In particular, in the case $δ=1$ which corresponds to a Ricc…
The aim of this paper is to present the global estimate for gradient of renormalized solutions to the following quasilinear elliptic problem: \begin{align*} \begin{cases} -div(A(x,\nabla u)) &= μ\quad \text{in} \ \ Ω, \\ u &=0 \quad \text{on} \ \ \partial Ω, \end{cases} \end{align*} in Lorentz-Morrey spaces, where $Ω\subset \mathbb{R}^n$ ($n \ge 2$), $μ$ is a finite Radon measure, $A$ is a monotone Carathéodory vector valued function defined on $W^{1,p}_0(Ω)$ and the $p$-capacity uniform thickness condition is imposed on the complement of our domain $Ω$. It is remarkable that the local gradien…
We obtain local boundedness of weak solutions of double phase quasilinear parabolic equations of the form \[u_t-\text{div} \left(|\nabla u|^{p-2}\nabla u+a(x,t)|\nabla u|^{q-2}\nabla u\right)=0,\] where, we have imposed the restrictions $\frac{2N}{N+2}<p<\infty$, $0\leq a(x,t)\leq M$ is measurable and $q < p\frac{N+1}{N-1}$.
In this paper, we prove global weighted Lorentz and Lorentz-Morrey estimates for gradients of solutions to the quasilinear parabolic equations: $$u_t-\operatorname{div}(A(x,t,\nabla u))=\operatorname{div}(F),$$ in a bounded domain $Ω\times (0,T)\subset\mathbb{R}^{N+1}$, under minimal regularity assumptions on the boundary of domain and on nonlinearity $A$. Then results yields existence of a solution to the Riccati type parabolic equations: $$u_t-\operatorname{div}(A(x,t,\nabla u))=|\nabla u|^q+\operatorname{div}(F)+μ,$$ where $q>1$ and $μ$ is a bounded Radon measure.
In this paper we consider the following Dirichlet problem for the $p$-Laplacian in the positive parameters $λ$ and $β$: [{{array} [c]{rcll}% -Δ_{p}u & = & λh(x,u)+βf(x,u,\nabla u) & \text{in}Ωu & = & 0 & \text{on}\partialΩ, {array}. \hfill] where $h,f$ are continuous nonlinearities satisfying $0\leqω_{1}(x)u^{q-1}\leq h(x,u)\leqω_{2}(x)u^{q-1}$ with $1<q<p$ and $0\leq f(x,u,v)\leqω_{3}(x)u^{a}|v|^{b}$, with $a,b>0$, and $Ω$ is a bounded domain of $\mathbb{R}^{N},$ $N\geq3.$ The functions $ω_{i}$, $1\leq i\leq3$, are nonnegative, continuous weights in $\barΩ$. We prove that there exists a regio…
A weighted norm inequality involving $A_1$ weights is obtained at the natural exponent for gradients of solutions to quasilinear elliptic equations in Reifenberg flat domains. Certain gradient estimates in Lorentz-Morrey spaces below the natural exponent are also obtained as a consequence of our analysis.
Let (M^n,g) be a n-dimensional complete, non-compact and connected Riemannian manifold, with Ricci tensor Ricc_g and sectional curvature Sec_g. Assume Ricc_g\geq (1-n)B^2, and either p>2 and Sec_g(x)=o(dist^2(x,a)) when dist^2(x,a)\to\infty for a\in M, or 1<p<2 and Sec_g(x)\leq 0. If q>p-1> 0, any C^1 solution of (E) -\Gd_pu+\abs{\nabla u}^q=0 on M satisfies \abs{\nabla u(x)}\leq c_{n,p,q}B^{\frac{1}{q+1-p}} for some constant c_{n,p,q}>0. As a consequence there exists c_{n,p}>0 such that any positive p-harmonic function v on M satisfies v(a)e^{-c_{n,p}B\dist (x,a)}\leq v(x)\leq v(a)e^{c_{n,p}B…
We study positive radial solutions of quasilinear elliptic systems with a gradient term in the form $$ \left\{ \begin{aligned} Δ_{p} u&=v^{m}|\nabla u|^α&&\quad\mbox{ in }Ω,\\ Δ_{p} v&=v^β|\nabla u|^{q} &&\quad\mbox{ in }Ω, \end{aligned} \right. $$ where $Ω\subset\R^N$ $(N\geq 2)$ is either a ball or the whole space, $1<p<\infty$, $m, q>0$, $α\geq 0$, $0\leq β\leq m$ and $(p-1-α)(p-1-β)-qm\neq 0$. We first classify all the positive radial solutions in case $Ω$ is a ball, according to their behavior at the boundary. Then we obtain that the system has non-constant global solutions if and only if…
We prove boundary higher integrability for the (spatial) gradient of \emph{very weak} solutions of quasilinear parabolic equations of the form $$ \left\{ \begin{array}{ll} u_t - div \mathcal{A}(x,t,\nabla u) = 0 &\quad \text{on} \ Ω\times (-T,T), \\ u = 0 &\quad \text{on} \ \partial Ω\times (-T,T), \end{array} \right. $$ where the non-linear structure $\mathcal{A}(x, t,\nabla u)$ is modelled after the variable exponent $p(x,t)$-Laplace operator given by $|\nabla u|^{p(x,t)-2} \nabla u$. To this end, we prove that the gradients satisfy a reverse Hölder inequality near the boundary by constructi…
We deal with a global Calderón-Zygmund type estimate for elliptic obstacle problems of $p$-Laplacian type with measure data. For this paper, we focus on the singular case of growth exponent, i.e. $1<p \le 2-\frac{1}{n}$. In addition, the emphasis of this paper is in obtaining the Lorentz bounds for the gradient of solutions with the use of fractional maximal operators.
This work deals with the existence of at least two positive solutions for the class of quasilinear elliptic equations with cylindrical singularities and multiple critical nonlinearities that can be written in the form \begin{align*} -\operatorname{div}\left[\frac{|\nabla u|^{p-2}}{|y|^{ap}}\nabla u\right] -μ\,\frac{u^{p-1}}{|y|^{p(a+1)}} = h\,\frac{u^{p^*(a,b)-1}}{|y|^{bp^*(a,b)}} +λg\,\frac{u^{q-1}}{|y|^{cp^*(a,c)}}, \qquad (x,y) \in \mathbb{R}^{N-k}\times\mathbb{R}^k. \end{align*} We consider $N \geqslant 3$, $λ>0$, $p < k \leqslant N$, $1<p<N$, $0 \leqslant μ<\barμ \equiv \left\{[k-p(a+1)]/…
We consider the problem of small data global existence for quasilinear wave equations with null condition on a class of Lorentzian manifolds $(\mathbb{R}^{3+1}, g)$ with \textbf{time dependent} inhomogeneous metric. We show that sufficiently small data give rise to a unique global solution for metric which is merely $C^1$ close to the Minkowski metric inside some large cylinder $\{\left.(t, x)\right||x|\leq R\}$ and approaches the Minkowski metric weakly as $|x|\rightarrow \infty$. Based on this result, we give weak but sufficient conditions on a given large solution of quasilinear wave equati…
Optimal estimates on the asymptotic behaviors of weak solutions both at the origin and at the infinity are obtained to the following quasilinear elliptic equations \[-Δ_{p}u-\fracμ{|x|^{p}}|u|^{p-2}u=Q(x)|u|^{\frac{Np}{N-p}-2}u,\quad\,x\in \mathbb{R}^{N},\] where $1<p<N, 0\leqμ<\left({(N-p)}/{p}\right)^{p}$ and $Q\in L^{\infty}(\mathbb{R}^{N})$.
Optimal estimates on asymptotic behaviors of weak solutions both at the origin and at the infinity are obtained to the following quasilinear elliptic equations \begin{eqnarray*} -Δ_{p}u-\fracμ{|x|^{p}}|u|^{p-2}u+m|u|^{p-2}u=f(u), & & x\in\R^{N}, \end{eqnarray*} where $1<p<N$, $0\leqμ<\left((N-p)/p\right)^{p}$, $m>0$ and $f$ is a continuous function.
Local and global pointwise gradient estimates are obtained for solutions to the quasilinear elliptic equation with measure data $-\operatorname{div}(A(x,\nabla u))=μ$ in a bounded and possibly nonsmooth domain $Ω$ in $\mathbb{R}^n$. Here $\operatorname{div}(A(x,\nabla u))$ is modeled after the $p$-Laplacian. Our results extend earlier known results to the singular case in which $\frac{3n-2}{2n-1}<p\leq 2-\frac{1}{n}$.
We prove the continuity of bounded solutions for a wide class of parabolic equations with $(p,q)$-growth $$ u_{t}-{\rm div}\left(g(x,t,|\nabla u|)\,\frac{\nabla u}{|\nabla u|}\right)=0, $$ under the generalized non-logarithmic Zhikov's condition $$ g(x,t,{\rm v}/r)\leqslant c(K)\,g(y,τ,{\rm v}/r), \quad (x,t), (y,τ)\in Q_{r,r}(x_{0},t_{0}), \quad 0<{\rm v}\leqslant Kλ(r), $$ $$ \quad \lim\limits_{r\rightarrow0}λ(r)=0, \quad \lim\limits_{r\rightarrow0} \frac{λ(r)}{r}=+\infty, \quad \int_{0} λ(r)\,\frac{dr}{r}=+\infty. $$ In particular, our results cover new cases of double-phase parabolic equat…
We study positive solutions of equation (E) $-Δu + u^p|\nabla u|^q= 0$ ($0<p$, $0\leq q\leq 2$, $p+q>1$) and other related equations in a smooth bounded domain $Ω\subset {\mathbb R}^N$. We show that if $N(p+q-1)<p+1$ then, for every positive, finite Borel measure $μ$ on $\partial Ω$, there exists a solution of (E) such that $u=μ$ on $\partial Ω$. Furthermore, if $N(p+q-1)\geq p+1$ then an isolated point singularity on $\partial Ω$ is removable. In particular there is no solution with boundary data $δ_y$ (=Dirac measure at a point $y\in \partial Ω$). Finally we obtain a classification of positi…
This note is a continuation of the work \cite{CaoXiangYan2014}. We study the following quasilinear elliptic equations \[ -Δ_{p}u-\fracμ{|x|^{p}}|u|^{p-2}u=Q(x)|u|^{\frac{Np}{N-p}-2}u,\quad\, x\in\mathbb{R}^{N}, \] where $1<p<N,0\leqμ<\left((N-p)/p\right)^{p}$ and $Q\in L^{\infty}(\R^{N})$. Optimal asymptotic estimates on the gradient of solutions are obtained both at the origin and at the infinity.
Optimal estimates on asymptotic behaviors of weak solutions both at the origin and at the infinity are obtained to the following quasilinear elliptic equations \begin{eqnarray*} -Δ_{p}u-\fracμ{|x|^{p}}|u|^{p-2}u+m|u|^{p-2}u=f(u), & & x\in\R^{N}, \end{eqnarray*} where $1<p<N,0\leqμ<\left((N-p)/p\right)^{p}$, $m>0$ and $f$ is a nonlinear function.
This paper deals with the Neumann boundary value problem for the system $$u_t=\nabla\cdot\left(D(u)\nabla u\right)-\nabla\cdot\left(S(u)\nabla v\right)+f(u) ,\quad x\inΩ,\ t>0$$ $$v_t=Δv-v+u,\quad x\inΩ,\ t>0$$ in a smooth bounded domain $Ω\subset\mathbb{R}^n$ $(n\geq1)$, where the functions $D(u)$ and $S(u)$ are supposed to be smooth satisfying $D(u)\geq Mu^{-α}$ and $S(u)\leq Mu^β$ with $M>0$, $α\in\mathbb{R}$ and $β\in\mathbb{R}$ for all $u\geq1$, and the logistic source $f(u)$ is smooth fulfilling $f(0)\geq0$ as well as $f(u)\leq a-μu^γ$ with $a\geq0$, $μ>0$ and $γ\geq1$ for all $u\geq0$. …
We investigate the nonexistence and existence of nontrivial positive solutions to $Δ_m u+u^p|\nabla u|^q\leq0$ on noncompact geodesically complete Riemannian manifolds, where $m>1$, and $(p,q)\in \mathbb{R}^2$. According to classification of $(p, q)$, we establish different volume growth conditions to obtain Liouville's theorems for the above quasilinear differential inequalities, and we also show these volume growth conditions are sharp in most cases. Moreover, the results are completely new for $(p, q)$ of negative pair, even in the Euclidean space.
This paper deals with the quasilinear degenerate chemotaxis system with flux limitation \begin{align*} \begin{cases} u_t = \nabla\cdot\left(\dfrac{u^p \nabla u}{\sqrt{u^2 + |\nabla u|^2}} \right) -χ\nabla\cdot\left( \dfrac{u^q\nabla v}{\sqrt{1 + |\nabla v|^2}}\right), &x\in Ω,\ t>0, \\[1mm] 0 = Δv - μ+ u, &x\in Ω,\ t>0, \end{cases} \end{align*} where $Ω:= B_R(0) \subset \mathbb{R}^n$ ($n \in \mathbb{N}$) is a ball with some $R>0$, and $χ>0$, $p,q\geq1$, $μ:= \frac 1{|Ω|} \int_Ωu_0$ and $u_0$ is an initial data of an unknown function $u$. In this paper, we deal with the following quasilinear elliptic system involving gradient terms in the form: \begin{center} $\begin{cases} Δ_p u= v^m| \nabla u |^α& \text{in}\quad Ω\\ Δ_p v= v^β| \nabla u |^q & \text{in}\quad Ω, \end{cases}$ \end{center} where $Ω\subset\mathbb{R}^N(N\geq 2)$ is either equal to $ \mathbb{R}^N $ or equal to a ball $B_R$ centered at the origin and having radius $R>0$, $1<p<\infty$, $m,q>0$, $α\geq 0$, $0\leq β\leq m$ and $δ:=(p-1-α)(p-1-β)-qm \neq 0$. Our aim is to establish the asymptotics of the blowing-up radial solutions to the above system. Precisely, we prov…
We study the existence of solutions to the equation $-\Gd_pu+g(x,u)=μ$ when $g(x,.)$ is a nondecreasing function and $\gm$ a measure. We characterize the good measures, i.e. the ones for which the problem as a renormalized solution. We study particularly the cases where $g(x,u)=\abs x^β\abs u^{q-1}u$ and $g(x,u)=\abs x^τ\rm{sgn}(u)(e^{τ\abs u^λ}-1)$. The results state that a measure is good if it is absolutely continuous with respect to an appropriate Lorentz-Bessel capacities.
In this paper, we are concerned with the quasilinear PDE with weight $$ -div A(x,\nabla u)=|x|^a u^q(x), \quad u>0 \quad \textrm{in} \quad R^n, $$ where $n \geq 3$, $q>p-1$ with $p \in (1,2]$ and $a \in (-n,0]$. The positive weak solution $u$ of the quasilinear PDE is $\mathcal{A}$-superharmonic and satisfies $\inf_{R^n}u=0$. We can introduce an integral equation involving the wolff potential $$ u(x)=R(x) W_{β,p}(|y|^au^q(y))(x), \quad u>0 \quad \textrm{in} \quad R^n, $$ which the positive solution $u$ of the quasilinear PDE satisfies. Here $p \in (1,2]$, $q>p-1$, $β>0$ and $0 \leq -a<pβ<n$. W…
We prove the existence of solitary wave solutions to the quasilinear Benney system $$iu_{t}+u_{xx}=a|u|^pu+uv,\quad v_t+f(v)_x=(|u|^2)_x$$ where $f(v)=-γv^3$, $-1<p<+\infty$ and $a,γ>0$. We establish, in particular, the existence of travelling waves with speed arbitrary large if $p<0$ and arbitrary close to $0$ if $p>\frac 23$. We also show the existence of standing waves in the case $-1<p\leq \frac 23$, with compact support if $-1<p<0$.\\ Finally, we obtain, under certain conditions, the linearized stability of such solutions.
The aim of this paper is to develop the regularity theory for a weak solution to a class of quasilinear nonhomogeneous elliptic equations, whose prototype is the following mixed Dirichlet $p$-Laplace equation of type \begin{align*} \begin{cases} \mathrm{div}(|\nabla u|^{p-2}\nabla u) &= f+ \ \mathrm{div}(|\mathbf{F}|^{p-2}\mathbf{F}) \qquad \text{in} \ \ Ω, \\ \hspace{1.2cm} u &=\ g \hspace{3.1cm} \text{on} \ \ \partial Ω, \end{cases} \end{align*} in Lorentz space, with given data $\mathbf{F} \in L^p(Ω;\mathbb{R}^n)$, $f \in L^{\frac{p}{p-1}}(Ω)$, $g \in W^{1,p}(Ω)$ for $p>1$ and $Ω\subset \ma…
We construct an efficient approach to deal with the global regularity estimates for a class of elliptic double-obstacle problems in Lorentz and Orlicz spaces. The motivation of this paper comes from the study on an abstract result in the viewpoint of the fractional maximal distributions and this work also extends some regularity results proved in \cite{PN_dist} by using the weighted fractional maximal distributions (WFMDs). We further investigate a pointwise estimates of the gradient of weak solutions via fractional maximal operators and Riesz potential of data. Moreover, in the setting of the…
In this paper we consider the problem u in H^1_0 (Omega), - div (A(x) Du) = H(x, u, Du) + f(x) + a_0 (x) u in D'(Omega), where Omega is an open bounded set of R^N, N \geq 3, A(x) is a coercive matrix with coefficients in L^\infty(Omega), H(x, s, xi) is a Carathéodory function which satisfies for some gamma > 0 -c_0 A(x) xi xi \leq H(x, s, xi) sign (s) \leq gamma A(x) xi xi a.e. x in Omega, forall s in R, forall xi in R^N, f belongs to L^{N/2} (Omega), and a_0 \geq 0 to L^q (Omega ), q > N/2. For f and a_0 sufficiently small, we prove the existence of at least one solution u of this problem whi…
In this paper, we study the existence and regularity of the quasilinear parabolic equations: $$u_t-\operatorname{div}(A(x,t,\nabla u))=B(u,\nabla u)+μ,$$ in either $\mathbb{R}^{N+1}$ or $\mathbb{R}^N\times(0,\infty)$ or on a bounded domain $Ω\times (0,T)\subset\mathbb{R}^{N+1}$ where $N\geq 2$. In this paper, we shall assume that the nonlinearity $A$ fulfills standard growth conditions, the function $B$ is a continuous and $μ$ is a radon measure. Our first task is to establish the existence results with $B(u,\nabla u)=\pm|u|^{q-1}u$, for $q>1$. We next obtain global weighted-Lorentz, Lorentz-M…
We announce some new results for proving Hölder continuity of weak solutions to quasilinear parabolic equations whose prototype takes the form $$u_t - div (|\nabla u|^{p-2}\nabla u)= 0 \qquad \text{or} \qquad u_t - div (|u_{x_1}|^{p_1-2}u_{x_1},|u_{x_2}|^{p_2-2}u_{x_2},\ldots |u_{x_N}|^{p_N-2}u_{x_N})=0$$ and $1<\{p_1,p_2,\ldots,p_N\}<\infty$. We develop a new technique which is independent of the "method of intrinsic scaling" developed by E.DiBenedetto in the degenerate case ($p\geq 2$) and E.DiBenedetto and Y.Z.Chen in the singular case ($p\leq 2$) and instead uses a new and elementary linea…
In this paper, we obtain $C^{1,α}$ estimates for weak solutions of certain quasilinear parabolic equations satisfying nonstandard growth conditions, the prototype examples being $$u_t - \text{div} (|\nabla u|^{p-2} \nabla u + a(t)|\nabla u|^{q-2} \nabla u) = 0,$$ $$u_t - \text{div} (|\nabla u|^{p(t)-2} \nabla u) = 0.$$ under the assumption that the solutions a priori have bounded gradient. We build on the recently developed scaling and covering argument which allows us to consider the singular and degenerate cases in a uniform manner and with minimal regularity requirements on the phase switch…
In this paper, we study the following quasilinear Schrödinger equation of Choquard type $$ -\triangle u+V(x)u-\triangle (u^{2})u=(I_α*|u|^p)|u|^{p-2}u, \ \ x \in \mathbb{R}^{N}, $$ where $N\geq 3$,\ $0<α<N$, $\frac{2(N+α)}{N}\leq p<\frac{2(N+α)}{N-2}$ and $I_α$ is a Riesz potential. Under appropriate assumptions on $V(x)$, we establish the existence of positive solutions.
The existence of positive solutions is considered for the Dirichlet problem \[ \left\{ \begin{array} [c]{rcll}% -Δ_{p}u & = & λω_{1}(x)\left\vert u\right\vert ^{q-2}% u+βω_{2}(x)\left\vert u\right\vert ^{a-1}u|\nabla u|^{b} & \text{in }Ω\\ u & = & 0 & \text{on }\partialΩ, \end{array} \right. \] where $λ$ and $β$ are positive parameters, $a$ and $b$ are positive constants satisfying $a+b\leq p-1$, $ω_{1}(x)$ and $ω_{2}(x)$ are nonnegative weights and $1<q\leq p$. The homogeneous case $q=p$ is handled by making $q\rightarrow p^{-}$ in the sublinear case $1<q<p,$ which is based on the sub- and su…
We consider the large time behavior of solutions to the following nonlinear wave equation: $\partial_{t}^2 u = c(u)^{2}\partial^2_x u + λc(u)c'(u)(\partial_x u)^2$ with the parameter $λ\in [0,2]$. If $c(u(0,x))$ is bounded away from a positive constant, we can construct a local solution for smooth initial data. However, if $c(\cdot )$ has a zero point, then $c(u(t,x))$ can be going to zero in finite time. When $c(u(t,x))$ is going to 0, the equation degenerates. We give a sufficient condition that the equation with $0\leq λ< 2$ degenerates in finite time.
In this paper we study the Hausdorff dimension of a elliptic measure $μ_{f}$ in space associated to a positive weak solution to a certain quasilinear elliptic PDE in an open subset and vanishing on a portion of the boundary of that open set. We show that this measure is concentrated on a set of $σ-$finite $n-1$ dimensional Hausdorff measure for $p>n$ and the same result holds for $p=n$ with an assumption on the boundary. We also construct an example of a domain in space for which the corresponding measure has Hausdorff dimension $\leq n-1-δ$ for $p\geq n$ for some $δ$ which depends on various …
In this article, we study a one-dimensional nonlocal quasilinear problem of the form $u_t=a(\Vert u_x\Vert^2)u_{xx}+νf(u)$, with Dirichlet boundary conditions on the interval $[0,π]$, where $0<m\leq a(s)\leq M$ for all $s\in \mathbb{R}^+$ and $f$ satisfies suitable conditions. We give a complete characterization of the bifurcations and of the hyperbolicity of the corresponding equilibria. With respect to the bifurcations we extend the existing result when the function $a(\cdot)$ is non-decreasing to the case of general smooth nonlocal diffusion functions showing that bifurcations may be pitchf…
We study the boundary behaviour of the solutions of (E) $-Δ_p u+|\nabla u|^q=0$ in a domain $Ω\subset \mathbb{R}^N$, when $N\geq p > q >p-1$. We show the existence of a critical exponent $q_* < p$ such that if $p-1 < q < q_*$ there exist positive solutions of (E) with an isolated singularity on $\partialΩ$ and that these solutions belong to two different classes of singular solutions. If $q_*\leq q < p$ no such solution exists and actually any boundary isolated singularity of a positive solution of (E) is removable. We prove that all the singular positive solutions are classified according the…
We prove existence results concerning equations of the type $-Δ_pu=P(u)+μ$ for $p>1$ and $F_k[-u]=P(u)+μ$ with $1\leq k<\frac{N}{2}$ in a bounded domain $Ω$ or the whole $\mathbb{R}^N$, where $μ$ is a positive Radon measure and $P(u)\sim e^{au^β}$ with $a>0$ and $β\geq 1$. Sufficient conditions for existence are expressed in terms of the fractional maximal potential of $μ$. Two-sided estimates on the solutions are obtained in terms of some precise Wolff potentials of $μ$. Necessary conditions are obtained in terms of Orlicz capacities. We also establish existence results for a general Wolff po…
This paper studies a new gradient regularity in Lorentz spaces for solutions to a class of quasilinear divergence form elliptic equations with nonhomogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions: \begin{align*} \begin{cases} div(A(x,\nabla u)) &= \ div(|F|^{p-2}F) \quad \text{in} \ \ Ω, \\ \hspace{1.2cm} u &=\ σ\qquad \qquad \qquad \text{on} \ \ \partial Ω. \end{cases} \end{align*} where $Ω\subset \mathbb{R}^n$ ($n \ge 2$), the nonlinearity $A$ is a monotone Carathéodory vector valued function defined on $W^{1,p}_0(Ω)$ for $p>1$ and the $p$-capacity uniform thickness condition is imposed on the compl…
Weighted good-$λ$ type inequalities and Muckenhoupt-Wheeden type bounds are obtained for gradients of solutions to a class of quasilinear elliptic equations with measure data. Such results are obtained globally over sufficiently flat domains in $\mathbb{R}^n$ in the sense of Reifenberg. The principal operator here is modeled after the $p$-Laplacian, where for the first time singular case $\frac{3n-2}{2n-1}<p\leq 2-\frac{1}{n}$ is considered. Those bounds lead to useful compactness criteria for solution sets of quasilinear elliptic equations with measure data. As an application, sharp existence…
In three spatial dimensions, we study the Cauchy problem for the model wave equation $- \partial_t^2 Ψ+ (1 + Ψ)^P ΔΨ= 0$ for $P \in \lbrace 1,2 \rbrace$. We exhibit a stable form of finite-time Tricomi-type degeneracy formation that has not previously been studied for quasilinear wave equations. Specifically, using only energy methods and ODE-type techniques, we exhibit an open (in an appropriate Sobolev topology) set of data such that $Ψ$ is initially near $0$ while $1 + Ψ$ vanishes in finite time. In fact, generic data profiles, when appropriately rescaled, lead to the vanishing of $1 + Ψ$ i…
In this paper, we study the regularity criterion of weak solutions to the three-dimensional (3D) MHD equations. It is proved that the solution $(u,b)$ becomes regular provided that one velocity and one current density component of the solution satisfy% \begin{equation} u_{3}\in L^{\frac{30α}{7α-45}}\left( 0,T;L^{α,\infty }\left( \mathbb{R}^{3}\right) \right) \text{ \ \ \ with \ \ }\frac{45}{7}% \leq α\leq \infty , \label{eq01} \end{equation}% and \begin{equation} j_{3}\in L^{\frac{2β}{2β-3}}\left( 0,T;L^{β,\infty }\left( \mathbb{R}^{3}\right) \right) \text{ \ \ \ with \ \ }\frac{3}{2}\leq β\le…
