We present a modified Schwarzschild metric to introduce a weak breakdown of asymptotic flatness. The kinematics of the metric captures a wide range of galaxy rotation curves. We show baryonic Tully-Fisher relation on the basis of this modified Schwarzschild metric. On the basis of the kinematics of this modified metric we also show some connections between the size and ordinary matter content of the observable universe and the rotation curves of spiral galaxies.
The linearized Kerr metric is considered and put in some Gauss coordinates which are further {\em intrinsic} ones. The linear and angular 4-momenta of this metric are calculated in these coordinates and the resulting value is just zero. Thus, the global vanishing previously found for the Schwarzschild metric remains linearly stable under slow rotational perturbations of this metric.
We study acoustic geometry in fluids with external pressure. In particular, we examine the conditions under which the acoustic metric mimics a Schwarzschild-like metric. We demonstrate that it is possible to mimic a Schwarzschild-like geometry in a consistent way only in the framework of relativistic acoustic geometry.
Weak field approximate solutions in the Lambda-->0 limit of a model of de Sitter gravity have been presented in the static and spherically symmetric case. Although the model looks different from general relativity, among those solutions, there still exist the weak Schwarzschild fields with the smooth connection to regular internal solutions obeying the Newtonian gravitational law. The existence of such solutions would determine the value of the coupling constant, which is different from that of the previous literature. Moreover, there also exist solutions that could deduce the galactic rotatio…
In Ref. [1], exact (not only conformally related) analogue models for the Schwarzschild and Reissner-Nordström spacetimes were found. The background non-relativistic fluid flow was sustained by an external body force which is not affected by the linearised fluctuations. Following a different route, by modelling the external force as the gradient of an external pressure, it was shown in~\cite{bilic} that the speed of sound is significantly modified. This effective speed of sound turns out to be inconsistent with the continuity equation. In this comment we analyse these two contradictory conclus…
The first order perturbations of the energy levels of a stationary hydrogen atom in static external gravitational field, with Schwarzschild metric, are investigated. The energy shifts are calculated for the relativistic 1S, 2S, 2P, 3S, 3P, 3D, 4S, 4P, 4D and 4F levels. The results show that the energy-level shifts of the states with total angular momentum quantum number 1/2 are all zero, and the ratio of absolute energy shifts with total angular momentum quantum number 5/2 is 1:4:5. This feature can be used to help us to distinguish the gravitational effect from other effect.
The Wigner rotation angle for a particle in a circular motion in the Schwarzschild spacetime is obtained via the Fermi-Walker transport of spinors. Then, by applying the WKB approximation, a possible application of the Fermi-Walker transport of spinors in relativistic EPR correlations is discussed, where it is shown that the spins of the correlated particle undergo a precession in an analogous way to that obtained by Terashima and Ueda [H. Terashima and M. Ueda, Phys. Rev. A {\bf69}, 032113 (2004)] via the application of successive infinitesimal Lorentz transformations. Moreover, from the WKB …
The metrics of gravitational shock waves for a Schwarzschild black hole in ordinary coordinates and for a Kerr black hole in Boyer-Lindquist coordinates are derived. The Kerr metric is discussed for two cases: the case of a Kerr black hole moving parallel to the rotational axis, and moving perpendicular to the rotational axis. Then, two properties from the derived metrics are investigated: the shift of a null coordinate and the refraction angle crossing the gravitational shock wave. Astrophysical applications for these metrics are discussed in short.
For conformally invariant gravity theories defined on Riemannian spacetime and having the Schwarzschild--de-Sitter (SdS) metric as a solution in the Einstein gauge, we consider whether one may conformally rescale this solution to obtain flat rotation curves, such as those observed in galaxies, without the need for dark matter. Contrary to recent claims in the literature, we show that if one works in terms of quantities that can be physically measured, then in any conformal frame the trajectories followed by `ordinary' matter particles are merely the timelike geodesics of the SdS metric, as one…
We present the manifestly covariant Lagrangian of a massless polarized particle, that implies all dynamic and algebraic equations as the conditions of extreme of this variational problem. The model allows for minimal interaction with a gravitational field, leading to the equations, coinciding with Maxwell equations in the geometrical optics approximation. The model allows also a wide class of non minimal interactions, which suggests an alternative way to study the electromagnetic radiation beyond the leading order of geometrical optics. As a specific example, we construct a curvature-dependent…
A small deformation controlled by four free parameters to the Schwarzschild metric could be referred to a nonspinning black hole solution in alternative theories of gravity. Because such a non-Schwarzschild metric can be changed into a Kerr-like black hole metric via a complex coordinate transformation, the recently proposed time-transformed explicit symplectic integrators for the Kerr type spacetimes are suitable for a Hamiltonian system describing the motion of charged particles around the non-Schwarzschild black hole surrounded with an external magnetic field. The obtained explicit symplect…
We prove that the thermodynamic properties of a Schwarzschild black hole are unaffected by an external magnetic field passing through it. Apart from the background substraction prescription, this result is obtained also by using a counterterm method.
In this paper we study AdS-Schwarzschild black holes in four and five dimensions in dRGT minimally coupled to a cloud of strings and investigate the effects of this string cloud on the thermodynamics of the black holes. It is observed that the entropy of the string cloud and massive terms does not affect the black hole entropy. The observations about four dimensions indicate that the massive term in the presence of external string cloud can not exhibit Van der Waals like behavior for AdS-Schwarzschild black holes and therefore there is only the Hawking-Page phase transition. In contrast, in fi…
In this article we analyze the predictions of the Einstein gravitation theory (EGT) on black holes in the framework of the Schwarzschild geometry that is defined in the vacuum around a spherically symmetric mass distribution, without charge, not in rotation. The Eddington and Kruskal metrics have been also taken unto account and the topological connections named wormholes have been analyzed. This article was written to graduate and postgraduate students of Physics.
In the present paper, we have investigated the motion of charged particles together with magnetic dipoles to determine how well the spacetime deviation parameter $ε$ and external uniform magnetic field can mimic the spin of a rotating Kerr black hole. Investigation of charged particle motion has shown that the deviation parameter $ε$ in the absence of external magnetic fields can mimic the rotation parameter of Kerr spacetime up to $a/M \approx0.5$. The combination of external magnetic field and deviation parameter can do even a better job mimicking the rotation parameter up to $a/M\simeq0.93$…

In this paper, geodesic motion of the charged particles in the vicinity of event horizon of Schwarzschild anti-de-Sitter black hole (BH) with topological defects has been investigated. Weakly magnetized environment is considered in the surrounding of BH which only effects the motion of the particles and doesn't effect the geometry of the BH. Hence, particles are under the influence of gravity and electromagnetic forces. We have explored the effect of magnetic field on the trajectories of the particles and more importantly on the position of the innermost stable circular orbit. It is observed t…
It is discussed that the Ernst--Schwarzschild metric describing a nonrotating black hole in the external magnetic field admits the solutions of the Dirac monopole types for the corresponding Maxwell equations. The given solutions are obtained in explicit form and a possible influence of the conforming Dirac monopoles on Hawking radiation is also outlined.
It has recently been suggested that vacuum black holes of General Relativity (GR) can become spontaneously scalarised when appropriate non-minimal couplings to curvature invariants are considered. These models circumvent the standard black hole no scalar hair theorems of GR, allowing both the standard GR solutions and new scalarised ($a.k.a.$ hairy) solutions, which in some cases are thermodynamically preferred. Up to now, however, only (static and spherically symmetric) scalarised Schwarzschild solutions have been considered. It would be desirable to take into account the effect of rotation; …
As is well known, some aspects of General Relativity and Cosmology can be reproduced without even using Einstein's equation. As an illustration, the 0 - 0 component of the Schwarzschild space can be obtained by the requirement that the geodesic of slowly mov- ing particles match the Newtonian equation. Given this result, we shall show here that the remaining component (grr) can be obtained by requiring that the inside of a Newtonian ball of dust matched at a free falling radius with the external space of unspecified type. This matching determines the external space to be of Schwarzschild type.…

Given this result, we show here that the remaining components can be obtained by requiring that the inside of a Newtonian ball of dust matched at a free falling radius with the external space determines that space to be Schwarzschild, if no pathologies exist. Also we are able to determine that the constant of integration that appears in the Newtonian Cosmology coincides with the spacial curvature of the FLRW metric.
This paper studies the deflection of charged particles in a dipole magnetic field in Schwarzschild spacetime background in the weak field approximation. To calculate the deflection angle, we use Jacobi metric and Gauss-Bonnet theorem. Since the corresponding Jacobi metric is a Finsler metric of Randers type, we use both the osculating Riemannian metric method and generalized Jacobi metric method. The deflection angle up to fourth order is obtained and the effect of the magnetic field is discussed. It is found that the magnetic dipole will increase (or decrease) the deflection angle of a positi…
In the present work the rotation of polarization vector due to the gravitational field of a rotating body has been derived, from the general expression of Maxwell's equation in the curved space-time. Considering the far field approximation (i.e impact parameter is greater than the Schwarzschild radius and rotation parameter), the amount of rotation of polarization vector as a function of impact parameter has been obtained for a rotating body (considering Kerr geometry). Present work shows that, the rotation of polarization vector can not be observed in case of Schwarzschild geometry. This work…
The Modified Newtonian Dynamics (MOND) paradigm generically predicts that the external gravitational field in which a system is embedded can produce effects on its internal dynamics. In this communication, we first show that this External Field Effect can significantly improve some galactic rotation curves fits by decreasing the predicted velocities of the external part of the rotation curves. In modified gravity versions of MOND, this External Field Effect also appears in the Solar System and leads to a very good way to constrain the transition function of the theory. A combined analysis of t…
We show quantitatively that an exact solution of Einstein's conformal gravity can explain very well the galactic rotation curves for a sample of 104 galaxies without need for dark matter or other exotic modification of gravity. The metric is an overall rescaling of the Schwarzschild-de Sitter spacetime as required by Weyl conformal invariance, which has to be spontaneously broken, and the velocity of the stars depends only on two universal parameters determined on the base of the observational data.
The strong equivalence principle is violated by gravity theories of Milgromian dynamics (MOND) through the action of the external field effect. We test two different Lagrangian theories AQUAL and QUMOND based on their numerical solutions of the external field effect, by comparing two independent estimates of the mean external field strength of the nearby universe: a theory-deduced value from fitting the outer rotation curves of 114 galaxies and an empirical value from the large-scale distribution of cosmic baryons. The AQUAL-deduced external field strength from rotation curves agrees with that…
Weyl's conformal theory of gravity is an extension of Einstein's theory of general relativity which associates metrics with 1-forms . In the case of locally integrable (closed non-exact) 1-forms the spacetime manifolds are no more simply connected. The Weil connections yield curvature tensors which satisfy the basic properties of Riemann curvature tensors. The Ricci tensors are symmetric, conformally invariant, and the Einstein tensors computed with the Weyl connections implicate a cosmological term replacing the cosmological constant by a function of spacetime, and a shear stress tensor. A to…
In this work we derive a generalized Newtonian gravitational force and show that it can account for the anomalous galactic rotation curves. We derive the entropy-area relationship applying the Feynman-Hibbs procedure to the supersymmetric Wheeler-DeWitt equation of the Schwarzschild black hole. We obtain the modifications to the Newtonian gravitational force from the entropic formulation of gravity.
We investigate the ultrarelativistic boost of a Schwarzschild black hole immersed in an external electromagnetic field, described by an exact solution of the Einstein-Maxwell equations found by Ernst (the ``Schwarzschild-Melvin'' metric). Following the classical method of Aichelburg and Sexl, the gravitational field generated by a black hole moving ``with the speed of light'' and the transformed electromagnetic field are determined. The corresponding exact solution describes an impulsive gravitational wave propagating in the static, cylindrically symmetric, electrovac universe of Melvin, and f…

We consider a Schwarzschild type solution in the discrete Regge calculus formulation of general relativity quantized within the path integral approach. Earlier, we found a mechanism of a loose fixation of the background scale of Regge lengths. This elementary length scale is defined by the Planck scale and some free parameter of such a quantum extension of the theory. Besides, Regge action was reduced to an expansion over metric variations between the tetrahedra and, in the main approximation, is a finite-difference form of the Hilbert-Einstein action. Using for the Schwarzschild problem a pri…
In this manuscript, we show that the external Schwarzschild metric can be a good approximation of exact black hole solutions of entangled relativity. Since entangled relativity cannot be defined from vacuum, the demonstrations need to rely on the definition of matter fields. The electromagnetic field being the easiest (and perhaps the only) existing matter field with infinite range to consider, we study the case of a charged black hole -- for which the solution of entangled relativity and a dilaton theory agree -- as well as the case of a pure radiation -- for which the solution of entangled r…
We investigate the effects of vacuum polarization on vacuum static spherically-symmetric spacetimes. We start from the Polyakov approximation to the renormalized stress-energy tensor (RSET) of a minimally coupled massless scalar field. This RSET is not regular at $r=0$, so we define a regularized version of the Polyakov RSET. Using this Regularized RSET, and under the previous symmetry assumptions, we find all the solutions to the semiclassical field equations in vacuum. The resulting counterpart to the Schwarzschild classical geometry substitutes the presence of an event horizon by a wormhole…
In the present work, the Brans-Dicke (BD) theory of gravity is taken as a possible theory of k-essence. Then starting with the (already known) Brans-Dicke-Schwarzschild solution which can represent the gravitationally bound static configurations of the BD scalar k-essence, issues like whether these configurations can reproduce the observed properties of galactic dark matter haloes have been addressed. It has been realized that indeed the BD scalar k-essence can cluster into dark matter halo-like objects with flattened rotation curves while exhibiting a dark energy-like negative pressure on lar…
In this article, we look into geodesics in the Schwarzschild-Anti-de Sitter metric in (3+1) spacetime dimensions. We investigate the class of marginally bound geodesics (timelike and null), while comparing their behavior with the normal Schwarzschild metric. Using $\textit{Mathematica}$, we calculate the shear and rotation tensors, along with other components of the Raychaudhuri equation in this metric and we argue that marginally bound timelike geodesics, in the equatorial plane, always have a turning point, while their null analogues have at least one family of geodesics that are unbound. We…
Gravitational redshift is being generally calculated without considering the rotation of a body. Neglecting the rotation, the geometry of space time can be described by using the spherically symmetric Schwarzschild geometry. Rotation has great effect on general relativity, which gives new challenges on gravitational redshift. When rotation is taken into consideration spherical symmetry is lost and off diagonal terms appear in the metric. The geometry of space time can be then described by using the solutions of Kerr family. In the present paper we will discuss the gravitational redshift for ro…
Theories of modified gravity generically violate the strong equivalence principle, so that the internal dynamics of a self-gravitating system in free fall depends on the strength of the external gravitational field (the external field effect). We fit rotation curves (RCs) from the SPARC database with a model inspired by Milgromian dynamics (MOND), which relates the outer shape of a RC to the external Newtonian field from the large-scale baryonic matter distribution through a dimensionless parameter $e_{\rm N}$. We obtain a $>4σ$ statistical detection of the external field effect (i.e. $e_{\rm …
Based on the scalar-tensor-vector modified gravitational theory, a modified gravity Schwarzschild black hole solution has been given in the existing literature. Such a black hole spacetime is obtained through the inclusion of a modified gravity coupling parameter, which corresponds to the modified gravitational constant and the black hole charge. In this sense, the modified gravity parameter acts as not only an enhanced gravitational effect but also a gravitational repulsive force contribution to a test particle moving around the black hole. Because the modified Schwarzschild spacetime is stat…
