We study the approximate and mean approximate controllability properties of fractional partial differential equations associated with the so-called Hilfer type time-fractional derivative and a non-negative selfadjoint operator $A_B$ with a compact resolvent on $L^2(Ω)$, where $Ω\subset\mathbb{R}^N$ ($N\ge 1$) is a bounded open set. More precisely, we show that if $0\leν\le 1$, $0<μ\le 1$ and $Ω\subset\mathbb R^N$ is a bounded open set, then the system $$\mathbb D_t^{μ,ν} u+A_Bu=f|_ω\;\; \mbox{ in }\; Ω\times (0,T),\,\, (\mathbb I_t^{(1-ν)(1-μ)}u)(\cdot,0)=u_0 \mbox{ in }\;Ω,$$ is approximately controllable for any $T>0$, $u_0\in L^2(Ω)$ and any non-empty open set $ω\subsetΩ$. In addition, if the operator $A_B$ has the unique continuation property, then the system is also mean approximately controllable. The operator $A_B$ can be the realization in $L^2(Ω)$ of a symmetric, non-negative uniformly elliptic second order operator with Dirichlet or Robin boundary conditions, or the realization in $L^2(Ω)$ of the fractional Laplace operator $(-Δ)^s$ ($0<s<1$) with the Dirichlet exterior condition, $u=0$ in $\mathbb R^N\setminusΩ$, or the nonlocal Robin exterior condition, $\mathcal N^su+βu=0$ in $\mathbb R^N\setminus\overlineΩ$.
In this paper we study the approximate controllability of fractional partial differential equations associated with the so-called Hilfer type time fractional derivative and a non-negative selfadjoint operator $A$ with a compact resolvent on $L^2(Ω)$, where $Ω\subset\RR^N$ ($N\geq 1$) is an open set. More precisely, we show that if $0\leν\le 1$, $1<μ\le 2$ and $Ω\subset\RR^N$ is an open set, then the system \begin{equation*} \begin{cases} \D^{μ,ν}_tu+Au=fχ_ω\;\;&\mbox{ in }\;Ω\times(0,T),\\ (I_t^{(1-ν)(2-μ)}u)(\cdot,0)=u_0 &\mbox{ in }\;Ω,\\ (\partial_tI_t^{(1-ν)(2-μ)}u)(\cdot,0)=u_1 &\mbox{ in…

To study the existence and uniqueness of solutions to Cauchy-type problems for fractional q-difference equations with the bi-ordinal Hilfer fractional q-derivative which is an extension of the Hilfer fractional q-derivative. An approach is based on the equivalence of the nonlinear Cauchy-type problem with a nonlinear Volterra q-integral equation of the second kind. Applying an analog of Banach fixed point theorem we prove the uniqueness and the existence of the solution. Moreover, we present an explicit solution to the q-analog of the Cauchy problem for the linear case.
In this paper we investigate fractional differential equations with Hilfer fractional derivative of order $1<γ<2$ and type $δ\in [0,1]$ in a Banach space. We introduce a family of general fractional cosine operator functions of order $1<γ<2$ and type $δ\in [0,1]$ and discuss their properties to give a suitable definition of mild solution of a semilinear evolution equation. In last section an example is presented.
This article contains a new discussion for the generalized fractional Cauchy-type problem involving Hilfer-Katugampola-type fractional derivative. We study an existence and continuation of its solution. Firstly, we establish a new theorems of local existence. Then, we deduce a continuation theorems for a general fractional differential equations. By applying continuation theorems deduced in this article, we present several global existence results. Moreover, the examples are given to illustrate our main results.
In this paper, we consider the Cauchy-type problem (1.1) involving Hilfer-Hadamard-type fractional derivative for a nonlinear fractional differential equation. We prove an equivalence between the Cauchy-type problem (1.1) and Volterra integral equation(VIE), existence, and uniqueness. We present a slight generalization for the Gronwall inequality which was used in studying the continuous dependence of a solution for the Cauchy-type problem (1.2).
For the following semilinear equation with Hilfer- Hadamard fractional derivative \begin{equation*} \mathcal{D}^{α_1,β}_{a^+} u-Δ\mathcal{D}^{α_2,β}_{a^+} u-Δu =\vert u\vert^p, \qquad t>a>0, \qquad x\inΩ, \end{equation*} where $Ω\subset \mathbb{R}^N$ $(N\geqslant 1)$, $p>1$, $0<α_{2}<α_{1}<1$ and $0<β<1$. $\mathcal{D}^{α_i,β}_{a^+}$ $(i=1,2)$ is the Hilfer- Hadamard fractional derivative of order $α_i$ and of type $β$, we establish the necessary conditions for the existence of global solutions.
In this paper, we used some theorems of fixed point for studying the results of Existence and Uniqueness For Hilfer-Hadamard-Type Fractional Differential Equations, \[_{H}D^{α,β}x(t)+f(t,x(t))=0, ~~~~~~ on~~the~~ interval~~ J:=(1,e]\] with Boundary Value Problems \[x(1+ε)=0,~~~~~~~~~~_{H}D^{1,1}x(e)=ν~_{H}D^{1,1}x(ζ)\]
This paper is committed to establishing the assumptions essential for the existence and uniqueness results of a fractional functional integrodifferential equation (FFIDE) having a derivative of generalized Hilfer type. Using the Picard operator method, and Banach fixed point theorem, we obtain the existence and uniqueness solution to the proposed problem. Along with this, the Ulam-Hyers Mittag-Leffler (UHML) stability is discussed via Pachpatte's inequality. For supporting our results, an illustrative example will be introduced.
This paper deals with the existence and uniqueness of solutions for a nonlinear boundary value problem involving a sequential $ψ$-Hilfer fractional integro-differential equations with nonlocal boundary conditions. The existence and uniqueness of solutions are established for the considered problem by using the Banach contraction principle, Sadovski's fixed point theorem, and Krasnoselskii-Schaefer fixed point theorem due to Burton and Kirk. In addition, the Ulam-Hyers stability of solutions is discussed. Finally, the obtained results are illustrated by examples.
In this paper, we used some theorems of fixed point for studying the results of existence and uniqueness for Hilfer-Hadamard-Type fractional differential equations, \[_{H}D^{α,β}x(t)+f(t,x(t))=0, \hbox{ on the interval } J:=(1,e]\] with nonlinear boundary value problems \[x(1+ε)=\sum_{i=1}^{n-2}ν_{i}x(ζ_{i}), \quad\quad\quad~_{H}D^{1,1}x(e) = \sum_{i=1}^{n-2} σ_i~_{H} D^{1,1}x(ζ_{i})\]
This paper deals with the existence and uniqueness of solution for a coupled system of Hilfer fractional Langevin equation with non local integral boundary value conditions. The novelty of this work is that it is more general than the works based on the derivative of Caputo and Riemann-Liouville, because when $β=0$ we find the Riemann-Liouville fractional derivative and when $β=1$ we find the Caputo fractional derivative. Initially, we give some definitions and notions that will be used throughout the work, after that we will establish the existence and uniqueness results by employing the fixe…
In this paper, we consider the nonlinear $Ψ$-Hilfer impulsive fractional differential equation. Our main objective is to derive the formula for the solution and examine the existence and uniqueness of results. The acquired results are extended to the nonlocal $Ψ$-Hilfer impulsive fractional differential equation. We gave an applications to the outcomes we procured. Further, examples are provided in support of the results we got.
This paper is concerned with the existence and uniqueness, and Ulam--Hyers stabilities of solutions of nonlinear impulsive $φ$--Hilfer fractional differential equations. Further, we investigate the dependence of the solution on the initial conditions, order of derivative and the functions involved in the equations. The outcomes are acquired in the space of weighted piecewise continuous functions by means of fixed point theorems and the generalized version of Gronwall inequality.
In this paper we consider space-time fractional telegraph equations, where the time derivatives are intended in the sense of Hilfer and Hadamard while the space fractional derivatives are meant in the sense of Riesz-Feller. We provide the Fourier transforms of the solutions of some Cauchy problems for these fractional equations. Probabilistic interpretations of some specific cases are also provided.
In this paper, we investigate the existence and uniqueness of solutions and derive the Ulam--Hyers--Mittag--Leffler stability results for impulsive implicit $Ψ$--Hilfer fractional differential equations with time delay. It is demonstrated that the Ulam--Hyers and generalized Ulam--Hyers stability are the specific cases of Ulam--Hyers--Mittag--Leffler stability. Extended version of Gronwall inequality, abstract Gronwall lemma and Picard operator theory are the primary devices in our investigation. We give an example to illustrate the obtained results.
In the current paper, we derive the comparison results for the homogeneous and non-homogeneous linear initial value problem (IVP) for $Ψ$-Hilfer fractional differential equations. In the presence of upper and lower solutions, the obtained comparison results and the location of roots theorem utilized to prove the existence and uniqueness of the solution for the linear $Ψ$-Hilfer boundary value problem (BVP) through the linear non-homogeneous $Ψ$-Hilfer IVP. Assuming the existence of lower solution $w_0 $ and upper solution $z_0 $, we establish the existence of minimal and maximal solutions for …
In a rectangular domain, a boundary-value problem is considered for a mixed-type equation with a regularized Caputo-like counterpart of hyper-Bessel differential operator and the bi-ordinal Hilfer's fractional derivative. Using the method of separation of variables, Laplace transform, a unique solvability of the considered problem has been established. Moreover, we have found the explicit solution of initial problems for a differential equation with the bi-ordinal Hilfer's derivative and regularized Caputo-like counterpart of the hyper-Bessel differential operator with the non-zero starting po…
In this paper, we investigate the existence and uniqueness of mild and strong solutions of fractional semilinear evolution equations in the Hilfer sense, by means of Banach fixed point theorem and the Gronwall inequality.
In the article, a general solution of an equation with a generalized Hilfer derivative, which has a degeneration, is constructed. Particular solutions are presented through the Kilbas-Saigo function. A representation of the solution of the initial problem of the type of the Cauchy problem is obtained.
Fractional Dzherbashian-Nersesian operator is considered and three famous fractional order derivatives namely Riemann-Liouville, Caputo and Hilfer derivatives are shown to be special cases of the earlier one. The expression for Laplace transform of fractional Dzherbashian-Nersesian operator is constructed. Inverse problems of recovering space dependent and time dependent source terms of a time fractional diffusion equation with involution and involving fractional Dzherbashian-Nersesian operator are considered. The results on existence and uniqueness for the solutions of inverse problems are es…
We provide necessary and sufficient geometric conditions for the exact controllability of the one-dimensional fractional free and fractional harmonic Schrödinger equations. The necessary and sufficient condition for the exact controllability of fractional free Schrödinger equations is derived from the Logvinenko-Sereda theorem and its quantitative version established by Kovrijkine, whereas the one for the exact controllability of fractional harmonic Schrödinger equations is deduced from an infinite dimensional version of the Hautus test for Hermite functions and the Plancherel-Rotach formula.
Our purpose is to adapt the Hilbert Uniqueness Method by J.-L. Lions in the case of fractional diffusion-wave equations. The main difficulty is to determine the right shape for the adjoint system, suitable for the procedure of HUM.
We study fractional hypoelliptic Ornstein-Uhlenbeck operators acting on $L^2(\mathbb{R}^n)$ satisfying the Kalman rank condition. We prove that the semigroups generated by these operators enjoy Gevrey regularizing effects. Two byproducts are derived from this smoothing property. On the one hand, we prove the null-controllability in any positive time from thick control subsets of the associated parabolic equations posed on the whole space. On the other hand, by using interpolation theory, we get global $L^2$ subelliptic estimates for the these operators.
In this paper, we analyze the controllability properties under positivity constraints on the control or the state of a one-dimensional heat equation involving the fractional Laplacian $(-Δ)^s$ ($0<s<1$) on the interval $(-1,1)$. We prove the existence of a minimal (strictly positive) time $T_{\rm min}$ such that the fractional heat dynamics can be controlled from any initial datum in $L^2(-1,1)$ to a positive trajectory through the action of a positive control, when $s>1/2$. Moreover, we show that in this minimal time constrained controllability is achieved by means of a control that belongs t…
This paper is devoted to the analysis of propagation properties for the solutions of a one-dimensional non-local Schrödinger equation involving the fractional Laplace operator $(-d_x^2)^s$, $s\in(0,1)$. We adopt a classical WKB approach and we provide a systematic procedure for building a suitable ansatz for the solutions to the problem. In this way, we can obtain quasi-solutions which are localized along the rays of geometric optics, whose group velocity can be computed explicitly in terms of the parameter $s$. Our results are then confirmed by numerical simulations, based on a finite element…
We consider the anisotropic Shubin operators $(-Δ)^m + \vert x\vert^{2k}$ acting on the space $L^2(\mathbb R^n)$, with $k, m \geq1$ some positive integers. We provide sharp quantitative estimates in Gelfand-Shilov spaces for the eigenfunctions of these selfadjoint differential operators, that is, exponential decay estimates both for these functions and their Fourier transforms in $L^2(\mathbb R^n)$. The strategy implemented is based on the classical approach to obtain Agmon estimates in spectral theory. By using a Weyl law for the eigenvalues of the anisotropic Shubin operators, we also descri…
We study the null-controllability properties of a one-dimensional wave equation with memory associated with the fractional Laplace operator. The goal is not only to drive the displacement and the velocity to rest at some time-instant but also to require the memory term to vanish at the same time, ensuring that the whole process reaches the equilibrium. The problem being equivalent to a coupled nonlocal PDE-ODE system, in which the ODE component has zero velocity of propagation, we are required to use a moving control strategy. Assuming that the control is acting on an open subset $ω(t)$ which …
In this paper, we consider a class of fractional integro-differential inclusions in Hilbert spaces. This paper deals with the approximate controllability for a class of fractional integro-differential control systems. First, we establishes a set of sufficient conditions for the approximate controllability for a class of fractional semilinear integro-differential inclusions in Hilbert spaces. We use Bohnenblust-Karlin's fixed point theorem to prove our main results. Further, we extend the result to study the approximate controllability concept with nonlocal conditions. An example is also given …
We prove the exact controllability of linear KP-I equation if the control input is added on a vertical domain. More generally, we have obtained the least dispersion needed to insure observability for fractional linear KP I equation.
The goal of this work is to prove global controllability and stabilization properties for the fractional Schrödinger equation on $d$-dimensional compact Riemannian manifolds without boundary $(M,g)$. To prove our main results we use techniques of pseudo-differential calculus on manifolds. More precisely, by using microlocal analysis, we are able to prove propagation of regularity which together with the so-called Geometric Control Condition and Unique Continuation Property help us to prove global control results for the system under consideration. As a main novelty this manuscript presents the…
We consider the equation $(\partial_t + ρ(\sqrt{-Δ}))f(t,x) = \mathbf 1_ωu(t,x)$, $x\in \mathbb R$ or $\mathbb T$. We prove it is not null-controllable if $ρ$ is analytic on a conic neighborhood of $\mathbb R_+$ and $ρ(ξ) = o(|ξ|)$. The proof relies essentially on geometric optics, i.e.\ estimates for the evolution of semiclassical coherent states. The method also applies to other equations. The most interesting example might be the Kolmogorov-type equation $(\partial_t -\partial_v^2 + v^2\partial_x)f(t,x,v) = \mathbf 1_ωu(t,x,v)$ for $(x,v)\in Ω_x\times Ω_v$ with $Ω_x = \mathbb R$ or $\mathbb…
We analyze the interior controllability problem for a nonlocal Schrödinger equation involving the fractional Laplace operator $(-Δ)^s$, $s\in(0,1)$, on a bounded $C^{1,1}$ domain $Ω\subset\mathbb{R}^n$. The controllability from a neighborhood of the boundary of the domain is obtained for exponents $s$ in the interval $[1/2,1)$, while for $s<1/2$ the equation is shown to be not controllable. The results follow applying the multiplier method, joint with a Pohozaev-type identity for the fractional Laplacian, and from an explicit computation of the spectrum of the operator in the one-dimensional c…
We investigate exact enlarged controllability for time fractional diffusion systems of Riemann-Liouville type. The Hilbert uniqueness method is used to prove exact enlarged controllability for both cases of zone and pointwise actuators. A penalization method is given and the minimum energy control is characterized.
The three concepts of exact, null and approximate controllabilities are analyzed from the exterior of the Moore--Gibson--Thompson equation associated with the fractional Laplace operator subject to the nonhomogeneous Dirichlet type exterior condition.
Existence and uniqueness of mild solutions and evolution operators for a class of non-autonomous conformable fractional semi-linear systems and Their Exact Null Controllability
We investigate the exact enlarged controllability and optimal control of a fractional diffusion equation in Caputo sense. This is done through a new definition of enlarged controllability that allows us to extend available contributions. Moreover, the problem is studied using two approaches: a reverse Hilbert uniqueness method, generalizing the approach introduced by Lions in 1988, and a penalization method, which allow us to characterize the minimum energy control.
We consider the null controllability problem from the exterior for the one dimensional heat equation on the interval $(0,1)$ associated with the fractional Laplace operator $(-\partial_x^2)^s$, where $0<s<1$. We show that there is a control function which is localized in a non-empty open set $\mathcal{O}\subset \left(\mathbb{R}\setminus(0,1)\right)$, that is, at the exterior of the interval $(0,1)$, such that the system is null controllable at any time $T>0$ if and only if $\frac 12<s<1$.
We study the controllability to trajectories, under positivity constraints on the control or the state, of a one-dimensional heat equation involving the fractional Laplace operator $ (-\partial_x^2)^s$ (with $0<s<1$) on the interval $(-1,1)$. Our control function is localized in an open set $\mathcal O$ in the exterior of $(-1,1)$, that is, $\mathcal O\subset (\mathbb{R} \setminus (-1,1))$. We show that there exists a minimal (strictly positive) time $T_{\rm min}$ such that the fractional heat dynamics can be controlled from any initial datum in $L^2(-1,1)$ to a positive trajectory through the…
This paper deals with the investigation of the computational solutions of an unified fractional reaction-diffusion equation, which is obtained from the standard diffusion equation by replacing the time derivative of first order by the generalized fractional time-derivative defined by Hilfer (2000), the space derivative of second order by the Riesz-Feller fractional derivative and adding the function phi(x,t) which is a nonlinear function overning reaction. The solution is derived by the application of the Laplace and Fourier transforms in a compact and closed form in terms of the H-function. T…
We present a finite element (FE) scheme for the numerical approximation of the solution to a non-local Poisson equation involving the one-dimensional fractional Laplacian $(-d_x^2)^s$ on the interval $(-L,L)$. In particular, we include the complete computations for obtaining the stiffness matrix, starting from the variational formulation of the problem. The problem being one-dimensional, the values of the matrix can be explicitly calculated, without need of any numerical integration, thus obtaining an algorithm which is very efficient in terms of the computational cost. As an application, we a…
We prove that the approximate null-controllability with uniform cost of the hypoelliptic Ornstein-Uhlenbeck equations posed on $\mathbb R^n$ is characterized by an integral thickness geometric condition on the control supports. We also provide associated quantitative weak observability estimates. This result for the hypoelliptic Ornstein-Uhlenbeck equations is deduced from the same study for a large class of non-autonomous elliptic equations from moving control supports. We generalize in particular results known for parabolic equations posed on $\mathbb R^n$, for which the approximate null-con…
We prove that the thickness property is a necessary and sufficient geometric condition that ensures the (rapid) stabilization or the approximate null-controllability with uniform cost of a large class of evolution equations posed on the whole space $\mathbb R^n$. These equations are associated with operators of the form $F(\vert D_x\vert)$, the function $F:[0,+\infty)\rightarrow\mathbb R$ being continuous and bounded from below. We also provide explicit feedbacks and constants associated with these stabilization properties. The notion of thickness is known to be a necessary and sufficient cond…
In this note we analyse \emph{quantitative} approximation properties of a certain class of \emph{nonlocal} equations: Viewing the fractional heat equation as a model problem, which involves both \emph{local} and \emph{nonlocal} pseudodifferential operators, we study quantitative approximation properties of solutions to it. First, relying on Runge type arguments, we give an alternative proof of certain \emph{qualitative} approximation results from \cite{DSV16}. Using propagation of smallness arguments, we then provide bounds on the \emph{cost} of approximate controllability and thus quantify th…
We make a complete analysis of the controllability properties from the exterior of the (possible) strong damping wave equation with the fractional Laplace operator subject to the nonhomogeneous Dirichlet type exterior condition. In the first part, we show that if $0<s<1$, $Ω\subset\RR^N$ ($N\ge 1$) is a bounded Lipschitz domain and the parameter $δ> 0$, then there is no control function $g$ such that the following system \begin{equation*} \begin{cases} u_{tt} + (-Δ)^{s} u + δ(-Δ)^{s} u_{t}=0 & \mbox{ in }\; Ω\times(0,T),\\ u=gχ_{\mathcal O\times (0,T)} &\mbox{ in }\; (\Omc)\times (0,T) ,\\ u(\…
The aim of this paper is to answer the question: Do the controls of a vanishing viscosity approximation of the one dimensional linear wave equation converge to a control of the conservative limit equation? Our viscous term contains the fractional power of the Dirichlet Laplace operator and it is multiplied by a small parameter devoted to tend to zero. Our analysis, based on moment problems and biorthogonal sequences, enables us to evaluate the magnitude of the controls needed for each eigenmode and to show their uniform boundedness with respect to the vanishing parameter.
This work is devoted to the study of uncertainty principles for finite combinations of Hermite functions. We establish some spectral inequalities for control subsets that are thick with respect to some unbounded densities growing almost linearly at infinity, and provide quantitative estimates, with respect to the energy level of the Hermite functions seen as eigenfunctions of the harmonic oscillator, for the constants appearing in these spectral estimates. These spectral inequalities allow to derive the null-controllability in any positive time for evolution equations enjoying specific regular…
Let $\Om\subset\RR^N$ a bounded domain with a Lipschitz continuous boundary. We study the controllability of the space-time fractional diffusion equation \begin{equation*} \begin{cases} \mathbb D_t^αu+(-Δ)^su=0\;\;&\mbox{ in }\;(0,T)\timesΩ\\ u=g &\mbox{ in }\;(0,T)\times(\RR^N\setminusΩ)\\ u(0,\cdot)=u_0&\mbox{ in }\;Ω, \end{cases} \end{equation*} where $u=u(t,x)$ is the state to be controlled and $g=g(t,x)$ is the control function which is localized in a subset $\mathcal O$ of $\Omc$. Here, $0<α\le 1$, $0<s<1$ and $T>0$ be real numbers. After giving an explicit representation of solutions, w…
We consider scalar-input control systems in the vicinity of an equilibrium, at which the linearized systems are not controllable. For finite dimensional control systems, the authors recently classified the possible quadratic behaviors. Quadratic terms introduce coercive drifts in the dynamics, quantified by integer negative Sobolev norms, which are linked to Lie brackets and which prevent smooth small-time local controllability for the full nonlinear system. In the context of nonlinear parabolic equations, we prove that the same obstructions persist. More importantly, we prove that two new beh…
