In the previous paper [PRE 101,032210(2020)], localization and delocalization phenomena in the polychromatically perturbed Anderson map (AM) were elucidated mainly from the viewpoint of localization-delocalization transition (LDT) on the increase of the perturbation strength $ε$. In this paper, we mainly investigate the dependency of the phenomena on the disorder strength $W$ ($W-$dependence) in the AM with a characteristic disorder strength $W^*$. In the completely localized region the $W-$dependence and $ε-$dependence of the localization length show characteristic behavior similar to those reported in monochromatically perturbed case [PRE 97,012210(2018)]. Furthermore, the obtained results show that even for the increase of the $W$, the critical phenomena and critical exponent are found to be similar to those in the LDT caused by the increase of $ε$. We also investigate the diffusive properties of the delocalized states induced by the parameters.
Using a quantum map version of one-dimensional Anderson model, the localization-delocalization transition of quantum diffusion induced by coherent dynamical perturbation is investigated in comparison with quantum standard map. Existence of critical phenomena, which depends on the number of frequency component $M$, is demonstrated. Diffusion exponents agree with theoretical prediction for the transition, but the critical exponent of the localization length deviates from it with increase in the $M$. The critical power $ε_c$ of the normalized perturbation at the transition point remarkably decrea…
We study two-dimensional tensorial elastic wave transport in densely fractured media and document transitions from propagation to diffusion and to localization/delocalization. For large fracture stiffness, waves are propagative at the scale of the system. For small stiffness, multiple scattering prevails, such that waves are diffusive in disconnected fracture networks, and localized in connected ones with a strong multifractality of the intensity field. A reentrant delocalization is found in well-connected networks due to energy leakage via evanescent waves and cascades of mode conversion.
We study Anderson localization of massless Dirac electrons in two dimensions in one-dimensional random scalar and vector potentials theoretically for two different cases, in which the scalar and vector potentials are either uncorrelated or correlated. From the Dirac equation, we deduce the effective wave impedance, using which we derive the condition for total transmission and those for delocalization in our random models analytically. Based on the invariant imbedding theory, we also develop a numerical method to calculate the localization length exactly for arbitrary strengths of disorder. In…
A new type of delocalization induced by coherent harmonic perturbations in one-dimensional Anderson-localized disordered systems is investigated. With only a few $M$ frequencies a normal diffusion is realized, but the transition to localized state always occurs as the perturbation strength is weakened below a critical value. The nature of the transition qualitatively follows the Anderson transition (AT) if the number of degrees of freedom $M+1$ is regarded as the spatial dimension $d$, but the critical dimension is not $d=M+1-2$ of the ordinary AT but $d=3$.
We propose a realization of the one-dimensional random dimer model and certain N-leg generalizations using cold atoms in an optical lattice. We show that these models exhibit multiple delocalization energies that depend strongly on the symmetry properties of the corresponding Hamiltonian and we provide analytical and numerical results for the localization length as a function of energy. We demonstrate that the N-leg systems possess similarities with their 1D ancestors but are demonstrably distinct. The existence of critical delocalization energies leads to dips in the momentum distribution whi…
We study the suppression of electron localization due to the screening of disorder in a Hubbard-Anderson model. We focus on the change of the electron localization length at the Fermi level within a static picture, where interactions are absorbed into the redefinition of the random on-site energies. Two different approximations are presented, either one yielding a nonmonotonic dependence of the localization length on the interaction strength, with a pronounced maximum at an intermediate interaction strength. In spite of its simplicity, our approach is in good agreement with recent numerical re…
Following the paper exploring the Anderson localization of monochromatically perturbed kicked quantum maps [Phys.Rev. E{\bf 97},012210], the delocalization-localization transition phenomena in polychromatically perturbed quantum maps (QM) is investigated focusing particularly on the dependency of critical phenomena upon the number $M$ of the harmonic perturbations, where $M+1=d$ corresponds to the spatial dimension of the ordinary disordered lattice. The standard map and the Anderson map are treated and compared. As the basis of analysis, we apply the self-consistent theory (SCT) of the locali…
We investigate Anderson localization of two particles moving in a two-dimensional (2D) disordered lattice and coupled by contact interactions. Based on transmission-amplitude calculations for relatively large strip-shaped grids, we find that all pair states are localized in lattices of infinite size. In particular, we show that previous claims of an interaction-induced mobility edge are biased by severe finite-size effects. The localization length of a pair with zero total energy exhibits a nonmonotonic behavior as a function of the interaction strength, characterized by an exponential enhance…
Uncorrelated disorder potential in one-dimensional lattice definitely induces Anderson localization, while quasiperiodic potential can lead to both localized and extended phases, depending on the potential strength. We investigate the Anderson localization in one-dimensional lattice with nonHermitian complex disorder and quasiperiodic potential. We present a non-Hermitian SSH chain to demonstrate that a nonzero imaginary disorder on-site potential can induce the standard Anderson localization. We also show that the non-Hermitian Aubry-Andre (AA) model exhibits a transition in parameter space, …
This study is concerned with destruction of Anderson localization by a nonlinearity of the power-law type. We suggest using a nonlinear Schrödinger model with random potential on a lattice that quadratic nonlinearity plays a dynamically very distinguished role in that it is the only type of power nonlinearity permitting an abrupt localization-delocalization transition with unlimited spreading already at the delocalization border. For super-quadratic nonlinearity the borderline spreading corresponds to diffusion processes on finite clusters. We have proposed an analytical method to predict and …
Using the density matrix renormalization group algorithm, we investigate the lattice model for spinless fermions in one dimension in the presence of a strong interaction and disorder. The phase sensitivity of the ground state energy is determined with high accuracy for systems up to a size of 60 lattice constants. This quantity is found to be log-normally distributed. The fluctuations grow algebraically with system size with a universal exponent of ~2/3 in the localized region of the phase diagram. Surprizingly, we find, for an attractive interaction, a delocalized phase of finite extension. T…
Localization and delocalization of quantum diffusion in time-continuous one-dimensional Anderson model perturbed by the quasi-periodic harmonic oscillations of $M$ colors is investigated systematically, which has been partly reported by the preliminary letter [PRE {\bf 103}, L040202(2021)]. We investigate in detail the localization-delocalization characteristics of the model with respect to three parameters: the disorder strength $W$, the perturbation strength $ε$ and the number of the colors $M$ which plays the similar role of spatial dimension. In particular, attentions are focused on the pr…
We consider a continuous one dimensional model of two charged interacting particles in a random potential. The electric repulsion is strictly one dimensional and it inhibits Anderson localization. In fact, the spectrum is continuous. The case of electrical atraction is briefly studied and it shows bounded states. So, the dynamics is sign dependent for this model. We support our analytical results with numerical simulations where the effect of repulsion breaking localization is clearly observed.
We investigate the presence of percolating states in disordered two-dimensional topological insulators. In particular, we uncover a close connection between these states and the so-called topological Anderson insulator (TAI), which is a topologically non-trivial phase induced by the presence of disorder. The decay of this phase could previously be connected to a delocalization of bulk states with increasing disorder strength. In this work we identify this delocalization to be the result of a percolation transition of states that circumnavigate the hills of the bulk disorder potential.
Earlier we reported an observation at low temperatures of activation conductivity with small activation energies in strongly doped uncompensated layers of p-GaAs/AlGaAs quantum wells. We attributed it to Anderson delocalization of electronic states in the vicinity of the maximum of the narrow impurity band. A possibility of such delocalization at relatively small impurity concentration is related to the small width of the impurity band characterized by weak disorder. In this case the carriers were activated from the "bandtail" while its presence was related to weak background compensation. Her…
We present a theory of Anderson localization on a one-dimensional lattice with translation-invariant hopping. We find by analytical calculation, the localization length for arbitrary finite-range hopping in the single propagating channel regime. Then by examining the convergence of the localization length, in the limit of infinite hopping range, we revisit the problem of localization criteria in this model and investigate the conditions under which it can be violated. Our results reveal possibilities of having delocalized states by tuning the long-range hopping.
We consider d dimensional systems which are localized in the absence of interactions, but whose single particle (SP) localization length diverges near a discrete set of (single-particle) energies, with critical exponent ν. This class includes disordered systems with intrinsic- or symmetry-protected- topological bands, such as disordered integer quantum Hall insulators. In the absence of interactions, such marginally localized systems exhibit anomalous properties intermediate between localized and extended including: vanishing DC conductivity but sub-diffusive dynamics, and fractal entanglement…
We consider the spatiotemporal evolution of a wave packet in disordered nonlinear Schrödinger and anharmonic oscillator chains. In the absence of nonlinearity all eigenstates are spatially localized with an upper bound on the localization length (Anderson localization). Nonlinear terms in the equations of motion destroy Anderson localization due to nonintegrability and deterministic chaos. At least a finite part of an initially localized wave packet will subdiffusively spread without limits. We analyze the details of this spreading process. We compare the evolution of single site, single mode …
Based on the random dimer model, we study correlated disorder in a one dimensional system driven by a strong AC field. As the correlations in a random system may generate extended states and enhance transport in DC fields, we explore the role that AC fields have on these properties. We find that similar to ordered structures, AC fields renormalize the effective hopping constant to a smaller value, and thus help to localize a state. We find that AC fields control then a localization-delocalization transition in a given one dimensional systems with correlated disorder. The competition between ba…
We study numerically the disorder-induced localization-delocalization phase transitions that occur for mass and spring constant disorder in a three-dimensional cubic lattice with harmonic couplings. We show that, while the phase diagrams exhibit regions of stable and unstable waves, the universality of the transitions is the same for mass and spring constant disorder throughout all the phase boundaries. The combined value for the critical exponent of the localization lengths of $ν= 1.550^{+0.020}_{-0.017}$ confirms the agreement with the universality class of the standard electronic Anderson m…
The localization behavior of the one-dimensional Anderson model with correlated and uncorrelated purely off-diagonal disorder is studied. Using the transfer matrix method, we derive an analytical expression for the localization length at the band center in terms of the pair correlation function. It is proved that for long-range correlated hopping disorder, a localization-delocalization transition occurs at the critical Hurst exponent H_c= 1/2 when the variance of the logarithm of hopping "σ_{\ln(t)}" is kept fixed with the system size N. Based on numerical calculations, finite size scaling rel…
We observe a singularity in the electronic properties of the Anderson Model of Localization with bounded diagonal disorder, which is clearly distinct from the well-established mobility edge (localization-delocalization transition) that occurs in dimensions $d>2$. We present results of numerical calculations for Anderson's original (box) distribution of onsite disorder in dimensions $d$ = 1, 2 and 3. To establish this hitherto unreported behavior, and to understand its evolution with disorder, we contrast the behavior of two different measures of the localization length of the electronic wavefu…
We consider the localization properties of a lattice of coupled masses and springs with random mass and spring constant values. We establish the full phase diagrams of the system for pure mass and pure spring disorder. The phase diagrams exhibit regions of stable as well as unstable wave modes. The latter are of interest for the instantaneous-normal-mode spectra of liquids and the nascent field of acoustic metamaterials. We show the existence of delocalization-localization transitions throughout the phase diagram and establish, by high-precision numerical studies, that the universality of thes…
Continuous One-dimensional models supporting extended states are studied. These delocalized statesoccur at well defined values of the energy and are consequences of simple statistical correlation rules. We explicitly study alloys of delta-barrier potentials as well as alloys and liquids of quantum well as.The divergence of the localization length is studied and a critical exponent 2/3 is found for the delta-barrier case, whereas for the quantum wells we find an exponent of 2 or 2/3 depending on the well's parameters. These results support the idea that correlations between random scattering se…
Localization-delocalization transition in a discrete Anderson nonlinear Schrödinger equation with disorder is shown to be a critical phenomenon $-$ similar to a percolation transition on a disordered lattice, with the nonlinearity parameter thought as the control parameter. In vicinity of the critical point the spreading of the wave field is subdiffusive in the limit $t\rightarrow+\infty$. The second moment grows with time as a powerlaw $\propto t^α$, with $α$ exactly 1/3. This critical spreading finds its significance in some connection with the general problem of transport along separatrices…
We use multifractal finite-size scaling to perform a high-precision numerical study of the critical properties of the Anderson localization-delocalization transition in the unitary symmetry class, considering the Anderson model including a random magnetic flux. We demonstrate the scale invariance of the distribution of wavefunction intensities at the critical point and study its behavior across the transition. Our analysis, involving more than $4\times10^6$ independently generated wavefunctions of system sizes up to $L^3=150^3$, yields accurate estimates for the critical exponent of the locali…
The exact probability distributions of the resistance, the conductance and the transmission are calculated for the one-dimensional Anderson model with long-range correlated off-diagonal disorder at E=0. It is proved that despite of the Anderson transition in 3D, the functional form of the resistance (and its related variables) distribution function does not change when there exists a Metal-Insulator transition induced by correlation between disorders. Furthermore, we derive analytically all statistical moments of the resistance, the transmission and the Lyapunov Exponent. The growth rate of th…
We study the critical behavior of the Anderson localization-delocalization transition in corner-sharing tetrahedral lattices. We compare our results obtained by three different numerical methods namely the multifractal analysis, the Green resolvent method, and the energy-level statistics which yield the singularity strength, the decay length of the wave functions, and the (integrated) energy-level distribution, respectively. From these measures a finite-size scaling approach allows us to determine the critical parameters simultaneously. With particular emphasis we calculate the propagation of …
In the one-dimensional Anderson model the eigenstates are localized for arbitrarily small amounts of disorder. In contrast, the Harper model with its quasiperiodic potential shows a transition from extended to localized states. The difference between the two models becomes particularly apparent in phase space where Heisenberg's uncertainty relation imposes a finite resolution. Our analysis points to the relevance of the coupling between momentum eigenstates at weak potential strength for the delocalization of a quantum particle.

We study the Anderson model on the Bethe lattice by working directly with propagators at real energies $E$. We introduce a novel criterion for the localization-delocalization transition based on the stability of the population of the propagators, and show that it is consistent with the one obtained through the study of the imaginary part of the self-energy. We present an accurate numerical estimate of the transition point, as well as a concise proof of the asymptotic formula for the critical disorder on lattices of large connectivity, as given in [P.W. Anderson 1958]. We discuss how the forwar…
The possibility of having a delocalization transition in the 1D de Moura-Lyra class of models (having a power-spectrum $\propto q^{-α})$ has been the object of a long standing discussion in the literature, filled with ambiguities. In this letter, we report the first numerical evidences that such a transition happens at $α=1$, where the localization length (measured from the scaling of the conductance) is shown to diverge as $(1-α)^{-1}$. The persistent finite-size scaling of the data is shown to be caused by a very slow convergence of the nearest-neighbor correlator to its infinite-size limit,…
We review the state of the art on the delocalized non-ergodic regime of the Anderson model on Bethe lattices. We also present new results using Belief Propagation, which consists in solving the self-consistent recursion relations for the Green's functions directly on a given sample. This allows us to numerically study very large system sizes and to directly access observables related to the eigenfunctions and energy level statistics. In agreement with recent works, we establish the existence of a delocalized non-ergodic phase on Cayley trees. On random regular graphs instead our results indica…
The quantum kicked rotor is well-known for displaying dynamical (Anderson) localization. It has recently been shown that a periodically kicked Tonks gas will always localize and converge to a finite energy steady-state. This steady-state has been described as being effectively thermal with an effective temperature that depends on the parameters of the kick. Here we study a generalization to a quasi-periodic driving with three frequencies which, without interactions, has a metal-insulator Anderson transition. We show that a quasi-periodically kicked Tonks gas goes through a dynamical many-body …
We investigate the effect of spatially correlated disorder on the Anderson transition of phonons in three dimensions using a Greens function based approach, namely, the typical medium dynamical cluster approximation (TMDCA), in mass-disordered systems. We numerically demonstrate that correlated disorder with pairwise correlations mitigates the localization of the vibrational modes. A correlation driven localization-delocalization transition can emerge in a three-dimensional disordered system with an increase in the strength of correlations.
We study theoretically the competition between directional asymmetric coupling and disorder in a one-dimensional array of quantum emitters chirally coupled through a waveguide mode. Our calculation reveals highly nontrivial phase diagram for the eigenstates spatial profile, nonmonotonously depending on the disorder and directionality strength. The increase of the coupling asymmetry drives the transition from Anderson localization in the bulk through delocalized states to chirality-induced localization at the array edge. Counterintuitively, this transition is not smeared by strong disorder but …
We study two coupled 3D lattices, one of them featuring uncorrelated on-site disorder and the other one being fully ordered, and analyze how the interlattice hopping affects the localization-delocalization transition of the former and how the latter responds to it. We find that moderate hopping pushes down the critical disorder strength for the disordered channel throughout the entire spectrum compared to the usual phase diagram for the 3D Anderson model. In that case, the ordered channel begins to feature an effective disorder also leading to the emergence of mobility edges but with higher as…
We study the Loschmidt echo and the dynamical free energy of the Anderson model after a quench of the disorder strength. If the initial state is extended and the eigenstates of the post-quench Hamiltonian are strongly localized, we argue that the Loschmidt echo exhibits zeros periodically with the period $2π/D$ where $D$ is the width of spectra. At these zeros, the dynamical free energy diverges in a logarithmic way. We present numerical evidence of our argument in one- and three-dimensional Anderson models. Our findings connect the dynamical quantum phase transitions to the localization-deloc…
Characterizing the delocalization transition in closed quantum systems with a many-body localized phase is a key open question in the field of nonequilibrium physics. We exploit that localization of particles as realized in Anderson and standard many-body localization (MBL) implies Fock-space localization in single-particle basis sets characterized by a real-space index. Using a recently introduced quantitative measure for Fock-space localization computed from the density distributions, the occupation distance, we systematically study its scaling behavior across delocalozation transitions and …
We consider the model of the directed polymer in a random medium of dimension 1+3, and investigate its multifractal properties at the localization/delocalization transition. In close analogy with models of the quantum Anderson localization transition, where the multifractality of critical wavefunctions is well established, we analyse the statistics of the position weights $w_L(\vec r)$ of the end-point of the polymer of length $L$ via the moments $Y_q(L) = \sum_{\vec r} [w_L(\vec r)]^q$. We measure the generalized exponents $τ(q)$ and $\tilde τ(q)$ governing the decay of the typical values $Y^…
We present a self-consistent theory of Anderson localization that yields a simple algorithm to obtain \emph{typical local density of states} as an order parameter, thereby reproducing the essential features of a phase-diagram of localization-delocalization quantum phase transition in the standard lattice models of disordered electron problem. Due to the local character of our theory, it can easily be combined with dynamical mean-field approaches to strongly correlated electrons, thus opening an attractive avenue for a genuine {\em non-perturbative} treatment of the interplay of strong interact…
A new paradigm of Anderson localization caused by correlations in the long-range hopping along with uncorrelated on-site disorder is considered which requires a more precise formulation of the basic localization-delocalization principles. A new class of random Hamiltonians with translation-invariant hopping integrals is suggested and the localization properties of such models are established both in the coordinate and in the momentum spaces alongside with the corresponding level statistics. Duality of translation-invariant models in the momentum and coordinate space is uncovered and exploited …
The effect of Anderson diagonal disorder on the topological surface (``drumhead'') states of a Weyl nodal loop semimetal is addressed. Since diagonal disorder breaks chiral symmetry, a winding number cannot be defined. Seen as a perturbation, the weak random potential mixes the clean exponentially localized drumhead states of the semimetal, thereby producing two effects: (i) the algebraic decay of the surface states into the bulk; (ii) a broadening of the low energy density of surface states of the open system due to degeneracy lifting. This behavior persists with increasing disorder, up to th…

Non-Hermiticity can destroy Anderson localization and lead to delocalization even in one dimension. However, the unified understanding of the non-Hermitian delocalization has yet to be established. Here, we develop a scaling theory of localization in non-Hermitian systems. We reveal that non-Hermiticity introduces a new scale and breaks down the one-parameter scaling, which is the central assumption of the conventional scaling theory of localization. Instead, we identify the origin of the unconventional non-Hermitian delocalization as the two-parameter scaling. Furthermore, we establish the th…
We consider the propagation of light beams through disordered lattices of coupled waveguides searching for Anderson localization and investigating the evolution of nonclassical properties of injected quantum states. We assume that the beam is initially in a variety of states, such as the complementary coherent state, the reciprocal binomial state, and the polynomial state. The statistical properties of the evolved states were analyzed numerically as functions of the localization/delocalization parameters averaged over many realizations of disorder. We also numerically reconstruct the Wigner fu…
This comment is dedicated to the investigation of many-body localization in a quantum Ising model with long-range power law interactions, $r^{-α}$, relevant for a variety of systems ranging from electrons in Anderson insulators to spin excitations in chains of cold atoms. It has been earlier argued [1, 2] that this model obeys the dimensional constraint suggesting the delocalization of all finite temperature states in thermodynamic limit for $α\leq 2d$ in a $d$-dimensional system. This expectation conflicts with the recent numerical studies of the specific interacting spin model in Ref. [3]. T…
The Anderson delocalization-localization transition is studied in multilayered systems with randomly placed interlayer bonds of density $p$ and strength $t$. In the absence of diagonal disorder (W=0), following an appropriate perturbation expansion, we estimate the mean free paths in the main directions and verify by scaling of the conductance that the states remain extended for any finite $p$, despite the interlayer disorder. In the presence of additional diagonal disorder ($W > 0$) we obtain an Anderson transition with critical disorder $W_c$ and localization length exponent $ν$ independentl…
We report the existence of a localization-delocalization transition in the classical plasma modes of a one dimensional Wigner Crystal with a white noise potential environment at T=0. Finite size scaling analysis reveals a divergence of the localization length at a critical eigenfrequency. Further scaling analysis indicates power law behavior of the critical frequency in terms of the relative interaction strength of the charges. A heuristic argument for this scaling behavior is consistent with the numerical results. Additionally, we explore a particular realization of random-bond disorder in a …
