Using the transfer matrix method, spin- and valley-dependent electron transport properties modulated by the velocity barrier were studied in the normal/ferromagnetic/normal monolayer MoS$_{2}$ quantum structure. Based on Snell's Law in optics, we define the velocity barrier as $ξ=v_{2}/v_{1}$ by changing the Fermi velocity of the intermediate ferromagnetic region to obtain a deflection condition during the electron transport process in the structure. The results show that both the magnitude and the direction of spin- and valley-dependent electron polarization can be regulated by the velocity barrier. $-100\%$ polarization of spin- and valley-dependent electron can be achieved for $ξ>1$, while $100\%$ polarization can be obtained for $ξ<1$. Furthermore, it is determined that perfect spin and valley transport always occur at a large incident angle. In addition, the spin- and valley-dependent electron transport considerably depends on the length $k_{F}L$ and the gate voltage $U(x)$ of the intermediate ferromagnetic region. These findings provide an effective method for designing novel spin and valley electronic devices.
We investigate the Goos-Hänchen-like shifts for Dirac fermions in transmission through a monolayer graphene barrier. The lateral shifts, as the functions of the barrier's width and the incidence angle, can be negative and positive in Klein tunneling and classical motion, respectively. Due to their relations to the transmission gap, the lateral shifts can be enhanced by the transmission resonances when the incidence angle is less than the critical angle for total reflection, while their magnitudes become only the order of Fermi wavelength when the incidence angle is larger than the critical ang…
It is shown that potential barriers in bilayer graphene (BLG) and monolayer transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) can split a valley unpolarized incident current into reflected and transmitted currents with opposite valley polarization. Valley asymmetric transmission inevitably occurs because of the low symmetry of the total Hamiltonian and when total external reflection occurs the transmission is 100% valley polarized in BLG and 100% spin and valley polarized in TMDs, except for exponentially small corrections. By adjusting the potential, 100% polarization can be obtained regardless of the …
We have studied spin-depend electron tunnelling through the Rashba barrier in a monolayer graphene lattice. The transfer matrix method, have been employed to obtain the spin dependent transport properties of the chiral particles. It is shown that graphene sheets in presence of Rashba spin-orbit barrier will act as an electron spin- inverter.
This paper demonstrates the high-quality tunnel barrier characteristics and layer number controlled tunnel resistance of a transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) measuring just a few monolayers in thickness. Investigation of vertical transport in WS2 and MoS2 TMDs in graphene/TMD/metal heterostructures revealed that WS2 exhibits tunnel barrier characteristics when its thickness is between 2 to 5 monolayers, whereas MoS2 experiences a transition from tunneling to thermionic emission transport with increasing thickness within the same range. Tunnel resistance in a graphene/WS2/metal heterostructu…
We study transport properties of a phosphorene monolayer in the presence of single and multiple potential barriers of height $U_0$ and width $d$, using both continuum and microscopic lattice models, and show that the nature of electron transport along its armchair edge ($x$ direction) is qualitatively different from its counterpart in both conventional two-dimensional electron gas with Schrödinger-like quasiparticles and graphene or surfaces of topological insulators hosting massless Dirac quasiparticles. We show that the transport, mediated by massive Dirac electrons, allows one to achieve co…
We show that ordered monolayers of organic molecules stabilized by hydrogen bonding on the surface of exfoliated few-layer hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) flakes may be incorporated into van der Waals heterostructures with integral few-layer graphene contacts forming a molecular/2D hybrid tunneling diode. Electrons can tunnel from through the hBN/molecular barrier under an applied voltage VSD and we observe molecular electroluminescence from an excited singlet state with an emitted photon energy > eVSD, indicating up-conversion by energies up to ~ 1 eV. We show that tunnelling electrons excite e…
We have investigated the transmission in monolayer graphene barrier at nonzero angle of incidence. Taking the influence of parallel wave vector into account, the transmission as the function of incidence energy has a gap due to the evanescent waves in two cases of Klein tunneling and classical motion. The modulation of the transmission gap by the incidence angle, the height, and width of potential barrier may lead to potential applications in graphene-based electronic devices.
In this review article we discuss the recent progress in studying ballistic transport for charge carriers in graphene through highly inhomogenous magnetic field known as magnetic barrier in combination with gate voltage induced electrostatic potential. Starting with cases for a single or double magnetic barrier we also review the progress in understanding electron transport through the superlattices created out of such electromagnetic potential barriers and discuss the possibility of experimental realization of such systems. The emphasis is particularly on the analogy of such transport with pr…
The transition metal dichalcogenide ($MX_{2}$, where $M$=Mo, W and $X$=S, Se, Te) monolayers are of high interest for semiconducting applications at the nanoscale level; this interest is due to both their direct band gaps and high charge mobilities. In this regard, an in-depth understating of the related Schottky barrier heights, associated with the incorporation of $MX_{2}$ sheets into novel low-dimensional metal-semiconductor junctions, is of crucial importance. Herein, we generate and provide analysis of the Schottky barrier heights behavior to account for the metal-induced gap states conce…
The performance of electronic and spintronic devices based on two-dimensional semiconductors (2D SC) is largely dependent on the quality and resistance of the metal/SC electrical contacts, as well as preservation of the intrinsic properties of the SC channel. Direct Metal/SC interaction results in highly resistive contacts due to formation of large Schottky barriers and considerably affects the properties of the 2D SC. In this work, we address these two important issues in monolayer $\mathrm{MoSe_2}$ Field-Effect transistors (FETs). We encapsulate the $\mathrm{MoSe_2}$ channel with hexagonal B…
In 2D-semiconductor-based field-effect transistors and optoelectronic devices, metal-semiconductor junctions are one of the crucial factors determining device performance. The Fermi-level (FL) pinning effect, which commonly caused by interfacial gap states, severely limits the tunability of junction characteristics, including barrier height and contact resistance. A tunneling contact scheme has been suggested to address the FL pinning issue in metal-2D-semiconductor junctions, whereas the experimental realization is still elusive. Here, we show that an oxidized-monolayer-enabled tunneling barr…
To explore the potential of field-effect transistors (FETs) based on monolayers of the two-dimensional semiconducting channel(SC) for spintronics, the two most important issues are to ensure the formation of variable low resistive tunnel ferromagnetic contacts(FC), and to preserve intrinsic properties of the SC during fabrication. Large Schottky barriers lead to the formation of high resistive contacts and methods adopted to control the barriers often alter the intrinsic properties of the SC. This work aims at addressing both issues in fully encapsulated monolayer WSe$_2$ FETs by using bi-laye…
Electron's tunneling through potential barrier in monolayer and bilayer graphene lattices is investigated by using full tight-binding model. Emphasis is placed on the resonance tunneling feature and inter-valley scattering probability. It is shown that normal incidence transmission probabilities for monolayer and bilayer graphene exhibit different properties. Our calculation indicates that valleytronics in graphene systems may be detected, generated and controlled by changing the structure parameters of the external electric potential.
Electron transport through Si-C bound alkyl chains, sandwiched between n-Si and Hg, is characterized by two distinct types of barriers, each dominating in a different voltage range. At low voltage, current depends strongly on temperature but not on molecular length, suggesting transport by thermionic emission over a barrier in the Si. At higher voltage, the current decreases exponentially with molecular length, suggesting tunneling through the molecules. The tunnel barrier is estimated, from transport and photoemission data, to be ~1.5 eV with a 0.25me effective mass.
The two-dimensional atomically thin insulator hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) constitutes a new paradigm in tunnel based devices. A large band gap along with its atomically flat nature without dangling bonds or interface trap states makes it an ideal candidate for tunnel spin transport in spintronic devices. Here, we demonstrate the tunneling of spin-polarized electrons through large area monolayer h-BN prepared by chemical vapor deposition in magnetic tunnel junctions. In ferromagnet/h-BN/ferromagnet heterostructures fabricated over a chip scale, we show tunnel magneto resistance at room tempe…
We report in this letter experimental results that confirm the two-dimensional nature of the electron systems in monolayer InN quantum wells embedded in GaN barriers. The electron density and mobility of the two-dimensional electron system (2DES) in these InN quantum wells are 5x10^{15} cm^{-2} and 420 cm^2/Vs, respectively. Moreover, the diagonal resistance of the 2DES shows virtually no temperature dependence in a wide temperature range, indicating the topological nature of the 2DES.
We study the transport properties of monolayer MX2 (M = Mo, W; X = S, Se, Te) n- and p- channel metal-oxide-semiconductor field effect transistors (MOSFETs) using full-band ballistic non-equilibrium Green's function simulations with an atomistic tight-binding Hamiltonian with hopping potentials obtained from density functional theory. We discuss the subthreshold slope, drain-induced barrier lowering (DIBL), as well as gate-induced drain leakage (GIDL) for different monolayer MX2 MOSFETs. We also report the possibility of negative differential resistance behavior in the output characteristics o…
We demonstrate electrical spin injection from a ferromagnet to a bilayer graphene (BLG) through a monolayer (ML) of single-crystal hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN). A Ni81Fe19/ML h-BN/BLG/h-BN structure is fabricated using a micromechanical cleavage and dry transfer technique. The transport properties across the ML h-BN layer exhibit tunnel barrier characteristics. Spin injection into BLG has been detected through non local magnetoresistance measurements.
We examine a graphene quantum dot formed by combining an electric and a uniform magnetic field. The electric field creates a smooth quantum well potential while the magnetic field induces an exponential tail to the dot states. The states peak in the well and the electrostatic barrier region as a result of the Klein tunneling effect. Coupling between dot states which peak in different regions can be achieved with the electric and magnetic fields. The tunability of this dot with moderate external fields could be used for designing quantum devices in monolayer graphene.
We investigate the propagation of electrons in a circular quantum dot of monolayer Molybdenium disulfide MoS_2, subjected to an electric potential. Using the continuum model, we present analytical expressions for the eigenstates, scattering coefficients, scattering efficiency, and radial component of the reflected current and electron density. We identify two scattering regimes as a function of physical parameters such as incident electronic energy, potential barrier, and quantum dot radius. For the incident electron low energy, we show that there is an appearance of scattering resonances. Als…
We have fabricated graphene spin-valve devices utilizing scalable materials made from chemical vapor deposition (CVD). Both the spin-transporting graphene and the tunnel barrier material are CVD-grown. The tunnel barrier is realized by h-BN, used either as a monolayer or bilayer and placed over the graphene. Spin transport experiments were performed using ferromagnetic contacts deposited onto the barrier. We find that spin injection is still greatly suppressed in devices with a monolayer tunneling barrier due to resistance mismatch. This is, however, not the case for devices with bilayer barri…
We performed density functional theory calculations with self-consistent van der Waals corrected exchange-correlation (XC) functionals to capture the structure of black phosphorus and twelve monochalcogenide monolayers and find the following results: (a) The in-plane unit cell changes its area in going from the bulk to a monolayer. The change of in-plane distances implies that bonds weaker than covalent or ionic ones are at work within the monolayers themselves. This observation is relevant for the prediction of the critical temperature $T_c$. (b) There is a hierarchy of independent parameters…
We study the transport properties of deeply scaled monolayer MoS2 n-channel metal-oxide-semiconductor field effect transistors (MOSFETs) using full-band ballistic quantum transport simulations with an atomistic tight-binding Hamiltonian obtained from density functional theory. Our simulations suggest that monolayer MoS2 MOSFETs can provide near-ideal subthreshold slope, and suppression of drain-induced barrier lowering (DIBL) and gate-induced drain leakage (GIDL). However, these full-band simulations also exhibit limited transconductance. These ballistic simulations also exhibit negative diffe…
We study the Dirac electron scattering problem on a potential barrier in a circular quantum dot of Monolayer Molybdenum Disulfide quantum dot MoS2 subjected to magnetic flux. By solving Dirac's equation, we formulate analytical expressions for the eigenstates, scattering coefficients, scattering efficiency, and the reflected current's radial component. We show that the scattering coefficients, the scattering efficiency, and the radial component of the reflected current depend explicitly on the magnetic flux. The magnetic flux may cause a slight shift in the oscillation position of the scatteri…
We study the spin-resolved transport through magnetic nanostructures in monolayer and bilayer graphene. We take into account both the orbital effect of the inhomogeneous perpendicular magnetic field as well as the in-plane spin splitting due to the Zeeman interaction and to the exchange coupling possibly induced by the proximity of a ferromagnetic insulator. We find that a single barrier exhibits a wavevector-dependent spin filtering effect at energies close to the transmission threshold. This effect is significantly enhanced in a resonant double barrier configuration, where the spin polarizat…
We exploit scanning probe controlled domain patterning in a ferroelectric top layer to induce nonvolatile modulation of the conduction characteristic of monolayer MoS$_2$ between a transistor and a junction state. In the presence of a domain wall, MoS$_2$ exhibits rectified I-V that is well described by the thermionic emission model. The induced Schottky barrier height varies from 0.38 eV to 0.57 eV and is tunabe by a SiO$_2$ global back-gate, while the tuning range of depends sensitively on the conduction band tail trapping states. Our work points to a new route to achieving programmable func…
In this paper, we study a theoretical method to calculate the conductance across a square barrier potential in monolayer graphene. We have obtained an analytical expression for the transmission coefficient across a potential barrier for monolayer graphene. Using the transmission coefficient obtained we have an analytical expression for the conductance. This expression will be used to calculate the conductance in the case in which there is a potential barrier, which in our case will modelise the behaviour of a top gate voltage of a field effect transistor. Once this analysis has been performed …
Electronic and thermoelectric properties of a two-dimensional MoS2 monolayer containing atomic defects are investigated using density functional theory. All the atomic defects have been found to exhibit endothermic nature. Electronic structure of MoS2 shows tuneability of band gap with the atomic defects. The MoS2 vacancy in pristine monolayer makes it magnetic and narrow band gap semiconductor. The spin-polarized character of the monolayer with defects is clearly captured by the tunneling current calculated in the STM-like setup. A relatively low thermal conductivity has been observed in mono…
We report experimental evidences on selective occupation of the degenerate valleys in MoS2 monolayers by circularly polarized optical pumping. Over 30% valley polarization has been observed at K and K' valley via the polarization resolved luminescence spectra on pristine MoS2 monolayers. It demonstrates one viable way to generate and detect valley polarization towards the conceptual valleytronics applications with information carried by the valley index.
We demonstrate electrical tunnel spin injection from a ferromagnet to graphene through a high-quality Al2O3 grown by atomic layer deposition (ALD). The graphene surface is functionalized with a self-assembled monolayer of 3,4,9,10-perylene tetracarboxylic acid (PTCA) to promote adhesion and growth of Al2O3 with a smooth surface. Using this composite tunnel barrier of ALD-Al2O3 and PTCA, a spin injection signal of 30 ohm has been observed from non-local magnetoresistance measurements at 45 K, revealing potentially high performance of ALD-Al2O3/PTCA tunnel barrier for spin injection into graphen…
MoS2 is a layered two-dimensional material with strong spin-orbit coupling and long spin lifetime, which is promising for electronic and spintronic applications. However, because of its large band gap and small electron affinity, a considerable Schottky barrier exists between MoS2 and contact metal, hindering the further study of spin transport and spin injection in MoS2. Although substantial progress has been made in improving device performance, the existence of metal-semiconductor Schottky barrier has not yet been fully understood. Here, we investigate permalloy (Py) contacts to both multil…
The phenomenon of resonant tunneling transport through polar double-barrier heterostructures is systematically investigated using a combined experimental and theoretical approach. On the experimental side, GaN/AlN RTDs are grown by MBE. In-situ electron diffraction is employed to monitor the number of monolayers incorporated into each tunneling barrier. Using this precise epitaxial control at the monolayer level, we demonstrate exponential modulation of the resonant tunneling current as a function of barrier thickness. Both the peak voltage and characteristic threshold bias exhibit a dependenc…
Based on a Dirac-like Hamiltonian and coherent scattering formalism, we study spin-valley transport and Goos-Hänchen like (GHL) effect of transmitted and reflected electrons in a gated monolayer WS$_2$. Our results show that the lateral shift of spin-polarized electrons is strongly dependent on the width of the gated region and can be positive or negative in both Klein tunneling and classical motion regimes. The absolute values of the lateral displacements at resonance positions can be considerably enhanced when the incident angle of electrons is close to the critical angle. In contrast to the…
The predicted formation of moire superlattices leading to confined excitonic states in heterostructures formed by stacking two lattice mismatched transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) monolayers was recently experimentally confirmed. Such periodic potential in TMD heterostructure functions as a diffusion barrier that affects the energy transport and dynamics of interlayer excitons (electron and hole spatially concentrated in different monolayers). Understanding the transport of excitons under such condition is essential to establish the material system as a next generation device platform. In …
We present a single barrier system to generate pure valley-polarized current in monolayer graphene. A uniaxial strain is applied within the barrier region, which is delineated by localized magnetic field created by ferromagnetic stripes at the regions boundaries. We show that under the condition of matching magnetic field strength, strain potential, and Fermi energy, the transmitted current is composed of only one valley contribution. The desired valley current can transmit with zero reflection while the electrons from the other valley are totally reflected. Thus, the system generates pure val…
Two-dimensional (2D) semiconductors are promising material candidates for next-generation nanoelectronics. However, there are fundamental challenges related to their metal-semiconductor (MS) contacts which limit the performance potential for practical device applications. In this work, we exploit 2D monolayer hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) as an ultrathin decorating layer to form a metal-insulator-semiconductor (MIS) contact, and demonstrate a novel diode-like selective enhancement of the carrier transport through it. Compared to the conventional MS contact, the MIS contact dominated by both t…
We explore the electronic structure, orbital character and topological aspect of a monolayer MoS$_2$ nanoribbon using tight-binding (TB) and low-energy (${\bm k}\cdot{\bm p} $) models. We obtain a mid-gap edge mode in the zigzag ribbon of monolayer MoS$_2$, which can be traced back to the topological properties of the bulk band structure. Monolayer MoS$_2$ can be considered as a valley Hall insulator. The boundary conditions at armchair edges mix the valleys on the edges, and a gap is induced in the edge modes. The spin-orbit coupling in the valence band reduces the hybridization of the bulk s…
We directly measure the electronic structure of twisted graphene/MoS2 van der Waals heterostructures, in which both graphene and MoS2 are monolayers. We use cathode lens microscopy and microprobe angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy measurements to image the surface, determine twist angle, and map the electronic structure of these artificial heterostructures. For monolayer graphene on monolayer MoS2, the resulting band structure reveals the absence of hybridization between the graphene and MoS2 electronic states. Further, the graphene-derived electronic structure in the heterostructures r…
We present the micro-photoluminescence ($μ$PL) and micro-reflectance contrast spectroscopy studies on thin films of MoSe2 with layer thicknesses ranging from a monolayer (1L) up to 5L. The thickness dependent evolution of the ground and excited state excitonic transitions taking place at various points of the Brillouin zone is determined. Temperature activated energy shifts and linewidth broadenings of the excitonic resonances in 1L, 2L and 3L flakes are accounted for by using standard formalisms previously developed for semiconductors. A peculiar shape of the optical response of the ground st…
Ideal monolayers of common semiconducting transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) such as MoS$_2$, WS$_2$, MoSe$_2$, and WSe$_2$ possess many similar electronic properties. As it is the case for all semiconductors, however, the physical response of these systems is strongly determined by defects in a way specific to each individual compound. Here we investigate the ability of exfoliated monolayers of these TMDCs to support high-quality, well-balanced ambipolar conduction, which has been demonstrated for WS$_2$, MoSe$_2$, and WSe$_2$, but not for MoS$_2$. Using ionic-liquid gated transistors w…
The coupling of charge carrier motion and pseudospin via chirality for massless Dirac fermions in monolayer graphene has generated dramatic consequences, such as the unusual quantum Hall effect and Klein tunneling. In bilayer graphene, charge carriers are massive Dirac fermions with a finite density of states at zero energy. Because of their non-relativistic nature, massive Dirac fermions can provide an even better test bed with which to clarify the importance of chirality in transport measurement than massless Dirac fermions in monolayer graphene. Here, we report an electronic cloaking effect…
Circular photocurrents (CPC), namely circular photogalvanic (CPGE) and photon drag effects, have recently been reported both in monolayer and multilayer transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) phototransistors. However, the underlying physics for the emergence of these effects are not yet fully understood. In particular, the emergence of CPGE is not compatible with the D3h crystal symmetry of two-dimensional TMDs, and should only be possible if the symmetry of the electronic states is reduced by influences such as an external electric field or mechanical strain. Schottky contacts, nearly ubiquit…
Thermal spin-transfer torque describes the manipulation of the magnetization by the application of a heat flow. The effect has been calculated theoretically by Jia et al. in 2011. It is found to require large temperature gradients in the order of Kelvins across an ultra thin MgO barrier. In this paper, we present results on the fabrication and the characterization of magnetic tunnel junctions with 3 monolayer thin MgO barriers. The quality of the interfaces at different growth conditions is studied quantitatively via high-resolution transmission electron microscopy imaging. We demonstrate tunn…
Single layers of transition metal dichalcogenides such as MoS$_2$ are direct bandgap semiconductors with optical and electronic properties distinct from multilayers due to strong vertical confinement. Despite the fundamental monolayer limit of thickness, the electronic structure of isolated layers can be further tailored with lateral degrees of freedom in nanostructures such as quantum dots or nanoribbons. Although one-dimensionally confined monolayer semiconductors are predicted to have interesting size- and edge-dependent properties useful for spintronics applications, experiments on the opt…
We propose an accurate tight-binding parametrization for the band structure of MoS$_2$ monolayers near the main energy gap. We introduce a generic and straightforward derivation for the band energies equations that could be employed for other monolayer dichalcogenides. A parametrization that includes spin-orbit coupling is also provided. The proposed set of model parameters reproduce both the correct orbital compositions and location of valence and conductance band in comparison with ab initio calculations. The model gives a suitable starting point for realistic large-scale atomistic electroni…
Monolayers of transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) exhibit excellent electronic and optical properties. However, the performance of these two-dimensional (2D) devices are often limited by the large resistance offered by the metal contact interface. Till date, the carrier injection mechanism from metal to 2D TMDC layers remains unclear, with widely varying reports of Schottky barrier height (SBH) and contact resistance (Rc), particularly in the monolayer limit. In this work, we use a combination of theory and experiments in Au and Ni contacted monolayer MoS2 device to conclude the following…
We study the thermoelectric properties of monolayers of MoS$_{2}$ and other group-VI dichalcogenides under circularly polarized off-resonant light. Analytical expressions are derived for the Berry phase mediated magnetic moment, orbital magnetization, as well as thermal and Nernst conductivities. Tuning of the band gap by {\it off-resonant} light enhances the spin splitting in both the valence and conduction bands and, thus, leads to a dramatic improvement of the spin and valley thermoelectric properties.
I report that thermal single-barrier (TSB) and thermal double-barrier (TDB) structures (formed, for example, by inserting one or two regions of a few Ge monolayers in Si) provide both a suppression of the phonon transport as well as a resonant-thermal-transport effect. I show that high-frequency phonons can experience a traditional double-barrier resonant tunneling in the TDB structures while the formation of Fabry-Perot resonances (at lower frequencies) causes quantum oscillations in the temperature variation of both the TSB and TDB thermal conductances $σ_{\text{TSB}}$ and $σ_{\text{TDB}}$.
We propose a theoretical model for describing the operation of a transistor with a MoS2 monolayer channel, which allows to obtain an analytical approximation of the potential in the channel. This potential depends on the drain and gate voltages. On this basis we make estimates for the minimum channel lengths due to the fundamental restriction of quantum tunneling through the barrier. It is shown that the relatively large effective mass of electrons in the MoS2 monolayer allows to predict the creation of devices with channels of a significantly shorter (2.5 - 3 nm) length than in traditional si…
Massless Dirac fermions in graphene provide unprecedented opportunities to realize the Klein paradox, which is one of the most exotic and striking properties of relativistic particles. In the seminal theoretical work [Katsnelson et al., Nat. Phys. 2 620 (2006)], it was predicted that the massless Dirac fermions can pass through one-dimensional (1D) potential barriers unimpededly at normal incidence. Such a result seems to preclude confinement of the massless Dirac fermions in graphene by using 1D potential barriers. Here, we demonstrate, both experimentally and theoretically, that massless Dir…
This work deals with the electron beam irradiation of the Schottky metal contacts in monolayer molybdenum disulfide (MoS$_2$) field-effect transistors (FETs). We show that the exposure of the Ti/Au source/drain leads to an electron beam improves the transistor conductance. We simulate the path of the electrons in the device and show that most of the beam energy is absorbed in the metal contacts. Hence, we propose that the transistor current enhancement is due to thermally induced interfacial reactions that lower the contact Schottky barriers. We also show that the electron beam conditioning of…
The light absorption and transmission of monolayer MoS$_{2}$ in a one-dimensional defective photonic crystal (d-1DPC) is theoretically investigated. The study shows that the strong interference effect decreases photon density in particular areas of the microcavity. The d-1DPC can reduce light absorption of monolayer MoS$_{2}$ and enhance light transmission. The impact of monolayer MoS$_{2}$ light absorption on the localization effect of photon is investigated when monolayer MoS$_{2}$ and the organic light-emitting diode are located in the same microcavity. However, monolayer MoS$_{2}$ does not…
