Pauli spin blockade (PSB) has long been an important tool for spin read-out in double quantum dot (DQD) systems with interdot tunneling $t$. In this paper we show that the blockade is lifted if the two dots experience distinct effective magnetic fields caused by site-dependent g-tensors $g_L$ and $g_R$ for the left and right dot, and that this effect can be more pronounced than the leakage current due to the spin-orbit interaction (SOI) via spin-flip tunneling and the hyperfine interaction (HFI) of the electron spin with the host nuclear spins. Using analytical results obtained in special parameter regimes, we show that information about both the out-of-plane and in-plane g-factors of the dots can be inferred from characteristic features of the magneto-transport curve. For a symmetric DQD, we predict a pronounced maximum in the leakage current at the characteristic out-of-plane magnetic field $B^* = t/ μ_B \sqrt{g_z^L g_z^R}$ which we term the g-tensor resonance of the system. Moreover, we extend the results to contain the effects of strong SOI and argue that in this more general case the leakage current carries information about the g-tensor components and SOI of the system.

We study coherent oscillations in double quantum dots tunnel-coupled to metallic leads by means of full counting statistics of electron transport. If two such systems are coupled by Coulomb interaction, there are in total six (instead of only two) oscillation modes of the entangled system with interaction-dependent oscillation frequencies. By tuning the bias voltage, one can engineer decoherence such that only one of the six modes, in which the charge oscillations in both double quantum dots become synchronized in antiphase, is singled out. We suggest to use waiting-time distributions and the …
We theoretically investigate transport signatures of quantum interference in highly symmetric double quantum dots in a parallel geometry and demonstrate that extremely weak symmetry-breaking effects can have a dramatic influence on the current. Our calculations are based on a master equation where quantum interference enters as non-diagonal elements of the density matrix of the double quantum dots. We also show that many results have a physically intuitive meaning when recasting our equations as Bloch-like equations for a pseudo spin associated with the dot occupation. In the perfectly symmetr…
We characterized stacked double-pyramidal quantum dots which showed biexciton binding energies close to zero by means of photoluminescence and cross-correlation measurements. It was possible to obtain a sequence of two photons with (nearly) the same energy from the biexciton-exciton-ground state cascade, as corroborated by a basic rate-equation model. This type of two-photon emission is both of relevance for fundamental quantum information theory studies as well as for more exotic applicative fields such as quantum biology.
Cadmium selenide nanocrystal quantum dots (NC-QDs) are site-selectively synthesized by sequential ion beam implantation of selenium and cadmium ions in a SiO2 matrix through sub-micron apertures followed by a rapid thermal annealing step. The size, areal density and optical emission energy of the NC-QDs are controlled by the ion fluence during implantation and the diameter of implantation aperture. For low fluences and small apertures the emission of these optically active emitters is blue-shifted compared to that of the bulk material by $>100\,{\rm meV}$ due to quantum confinement. The emissi…
We study the sub-gap spectrum and the transport properties of a double quantum dot coupled to metallic and superconducting leads. The coupling of both quantum dots to the superconducting lead induces a non-local pairing in both quantum dots by the Andreev reflection processes. Additionally, we obtain two channels of Cooper pair tunneling into a superconducting lead. In such a system, the direct tunneling process (by one of two dots) or the crossed tunneling process (by both quantum dots at the same time) is possible. We consider the dependence of the Andreev transmittance on an inter-dot tunne…
