In this note we address the exact solutions of a time-dependent Hamiltonian composed by an oscillator-like interaction with both a frequency and a mass term that depend on time. The latter is achieved by constructing the appropriate point transformation such that it deforms the Schrödinger equation of a stationary oscillator into the one of the time-dependent model. Thus, the solutions of the latter can be seen as deformations of the well known solutions of the stationary oscillator, and thus an orthogonal set of solutions can be determined in a straightforward way. The latter is possible since the inner product structure is preserved by the point transformation. Also, any invariant operator of the stationary oscillator is transformed into an invariant of the time-dependent model. This property leads to a straightforward way to determine constants of motion without requiring to use ansatz.
The most general form of Hamiltonian that preserves fermionic coherent states stable in time is found in the form of nonstationary fermion oscillator. Invariant creation and annihilation operators and related Fock states and coherent states are built up for the more general system of nonstationary forced fermion oscillator.

The new perturbation theory for the problem of nonstationary anharmonic oscillator with polynomial nonstationary perturbation is proposed. As a zero order approximation the exact wave function of harmonic oscillator with variable frequency in external field is used. Based on some intrinsic properties of unperturbed wave function the variational-iterational method is proposed, that make it possible to correct both the amplitude and the phase of wave function. As an application the first order correction are proposed both for wave function and S-matrix elements for asymmetric perturbation potent…
We consider the relations between nonstationary quantum oscillators and their stationary counterpart in view of their applicability to study particles in electromagnetic traps. We develop a consistent model of quantum oscillators with time-dependent frequencies that are subjected to the action of a time-dependent driving force, and have a time-dependent zero point energy. Our approach uses the method of point transformations to construct the physical solutions of the parametric oscillator as mere deformations of the well known solutions of the stationary oscillator. In this form, the determina…
Three linearly independent Hermitian invariants for the nonstationary generalized singular oscillator (SO) are constructed and their complex linear combination is diagonalized. The constructed family of eigenstates contains as subsets all previously obtained solutions for the SO and includes all Robertson and Schrödinger intelligent states for the three invariants. It is shown that the constructed analogues of the SU(1,1) group-related coherent states for the SO minimize the Robertson and Schrödinger relations for the three invariants and for every pair of them simultaneously. The squeezing pr…
New families of time-dependent potentials related with the stationary singular oscillator are introduced. This is achieved after noticing that a non stationary quantum invariant can be constructed for the singular oscillator. Such invariant depends on coefficients that are related to solutions of an Ermakov equation, the latter becomes essential since it guarantees the regularity of the solutions at each time. In this form, after applying the factorization method to the quantum invariant, rather than the Hamiltonian, one manages to introduce the time parameter into the transformation, leading …
We have established that the most general form of Hamiltonian that preserves fermionic coherent states stable in time, is that of the nonstationary free fermionic oscillator. This is to be compared with the earlier result of boson coherence Hamiltonian, which is of the more general form of the nonstationary forced bosonic oscillator. If however one admits Grassmann variables as Hamiltonian parameters then the coherence Hamiltonian takes again the form of (Grassmannian fermionic) forced oscillator.
The quantum optical problem of the propagation of electromagnetic waves in a nonlinear waveguide is related to the solutions of the classical nonstationary harmonic oscillator using the method of linear integrals of motion [ Malkin et.al., Phys Rev. 2D (1970) p.1371 ]. An explicit solution of the classical oscillator with a varying frequency, corresponding to the light propagation in an anisotropic waveguide is obtained using the expressions for the quantum field fluctuations. Substitutions have been found which allow to establish connections of the linear and quadratic invariants of Malkin et…
We study the stationary and nonstationary measurement of a classical force driving a mechanical oscillator coupled to an electromagnetic cavity under two-tone driving. For this purpose, we develop a theoretical framework based on the signal-to-noise ratio to quantify the sensitivity of linear spectral measurements. Then, we consider stationary force sensing and study the necessary conditions to minimise the added force noise. We find that imprecision noise and back-action noise can be arbitrarily suppressed by manipulating the amplitudes of the input coherent fields, however, the force noise p…
The Darboux method is commonly used in the coordinate variable to produce new exactly solvable (stationary) potentials in quantum mechanics. In this work we follow a variation introduced by Bagrov, Samsonov, and Shekoyan (BSS) to include the time-variable as a parameter of the transformation. The new potentials are nonstationary and define Hamiltonians which are not integrals of motion for the system under study. We take the stationary oscillator of constant frequency to produce nonstationary oscillators, and also provide an invariant that serves to define uniquely the state of the system. In …
We show that the origin of the nonequivalence of Hamiltonians in different representations is a change of the form of the time-derivative operator at a time-dependent unitary transformation. This nonequivalence does not lead to an ambiguity of the energy expectation values of a particle in nonstationary fields but assigns the basic representation. It has been explicitly or implicitly supposed in previous investigations that this representation is the Dirac one. We prove the alternative assertion about the basic role of the Foldy-Wouthuysen representation. We also derive the general equation fo…
We study the nonstationary solutions of Fokker-Planck equations associated to either stationary or nonstationary quantum states. In particular we discuss the stationary states of quantum systems with singular velocity fields. We introduce a technique that allows to realize arbitrary evolutions ruled by these equations, to account for controlled quantum transitions. The method is illustrated by presenting the detailed treatment of the transition probabilities and of the controlling time-dependent potentials associated to the transitions between the stationary, the coherent, and the squeezed sta…
We consider an analog of particle production in a quartic $O(N)$ quantum oscillator with time-dependent frequency, which is a toy model of particle production in the dynamical Casimir effect and de Sitter space. We calculate exact quantum averages, Keldysh propagator, and particle number using two different methods. First, we employ a kind of rotating wave approximation to estimate these quantities for small deviations from stationarity. Second, we extend these results to arbitrarily large deviations using the Schwinger-Keldysh diagrammatic technique. We show that in strongly nonstationary sit…
The Schrödinger equation and ladder operators for the harmonic oscillator are shown to simplify through the use of an isometric conformal transformation. These results are discussed in relation to the Bargmann representation. It is further demonstrated that harmonic interactions can be introduced into quantum mechanics as an imaginary component of time equivalent to adding the oscillator potential into the hamiltonian for the confined particle.
The stationary Schroedinger equation of the harmonic oscillator is deformed by a Darboux transformation to construct time-dependent potentials with the oscillator profile. The Darboux (supersymmetric or factorization) method is usually developed in the spatial variables of the Schroedinger equation. Here we follow a variation introduced by Bagrov, Samsonov and Shekoyan to include the time-variable as a parameter of the transformation.
In this paper we analyze a recent application of perturbation theory by the moment method to a family of two-dimensional anharmonic oscillators. By means of straightforward unitary transformations we show that two of the models studied by the authors are separable. Other is unbounded from below and therefore cannot be successfully treated by perturbation theory unless a complex harmonic frequency is introduced in the renormalization process. We calculate the lowest resonance by means of complex-coordinate rotation and compare its real part with the eigenvalue estimated by the authors. A pair o…
A system of two coupled quantum harmonic oscillators with the Hamiltonian ${\hat H}=\frac{1}{2}\left(\frac{1}{m_1}{\hat p}^{2}_1 + \frac{1}{m_2}{\hat p}^{2}_2+A x^2_1+B x^2_2+ C x_1 x_2\right)$ can be found in many applications of quantum and nonlinear physics, molecular chemistry, and biophysics. The stationary wave function of such a system is known, but its use for the analysis of quantum entanglement is complicated because of the complexity of computing the Schmidt modes. Moreover, there is no exact analytical solution to the nonstationary Schrodinger equation ${\hat H}Ψ=i\hbar\frac{\parti…
We find a one-parameter Gaussian state for an anharmonic oscillator with quadratic and quartic terms, which depends on the energy expectation value. For the weak coupling constant, the Gaussian state is a squeezed state of the vacuum state. However, for the strong coupling constant, the Gaussian state represents a different kind of condensation of bosonic particles through a nonlinear Bogoliubov transformation of the vacuum state.
We notice that PT symmetric non-Hermitian one dimensional simple Harmonic Oscillator under simultaneous transformation of co-ordinate and momentum with proper choice of positive oscillating frequency can reflect negative spectrum with well behaved wave function in real space. We also present a suitable comuter programme to realise the negative spectrum directly. PACS(2008) : 03.65.Db
Darboux transformation of both Barut-Girardello and Perelomov coherent states for the time-dependent singular oscillator is studied. In both cases the measure that realizes the resolution of the identity operator in terms of coherent states is found and corresponding holomorphic representation is constructed. For the particular case of a free particle moving with a fixed value of the angular momentum equal to two it is shown that Barut-Giriardello coherent states are more localized at the initial time moment while the Perelomov coherent states are more stable with respect to time evolution. It…
The Darbroux transformation is generalized for time-dependent Hamiltonian systems which include a term linear in momentum and a time-dependent mass. The formalism for the $N$-fold application of the transformation is also established, and these formalisms are applied for a general quadratic system (a generalized harmonic oscillator) and a quadratic system with an inverse-square interaction up to N=2. Among the new features found, it is shown, for the general quadratic system, that the shape of potential difference between the original system and the transformed system could oscillate according…
The present paper engages in a particular attempt to acquire exact analytical eigensolutions of the position-dependent effective mass (PDEM) Schrödinger equation for a variety of squared style trigonometric potentials. The algebraic process entitled as the point canonical transformation (PCT) approach is implemented in the course of study. Certain spatially varying effective mass configurations have been utilized in establishing of the target system. Then, performing the systematic computational procedures enables us to determine not only the possible explicit forms of both discrete energy spe…
For a harmonic oscillator with time-dependent (positive) mass and frequency, an unitary operator is shown to transform the quantum states of the system to those of a harmonic oscillator system of unit mass and time-dependent frequency, as well as operators. For a driven harmonic oscillator, it is also shown that, there are unitary transformations which give the driven system from the system of same mass and frequency without driving force. The transformation for a driven oscillator depends on the solution of classical equation of motion of the driven system. These transformations, thus, give a…
The Levi-Civita transformation is applied in the two-dimensional (2D) Dirac and Klein-Gordon (KG) equations with equal external scalar and vector potentials. The Coulomb and harmonic oscillator problems are connected via the Levi-Civita transformation. These connections lead to an approach to solve the Coulomb problems using the results of the harmonic oscillator potential in the above-mentioned relativistic systems.
We study the most general continuous transformation on the generators of bilinear master equations of a quantum oscillator. We find that transformation operators that preserve the hermiticity of density operators and conserve the probability of reduced dynamics should be adjoint-symmetric, and they are not limited to the pure product of unitary operators in the bra and ket space but could be a mixture of them. We need to include the more general transformation operators to explore the full symmetry of generic reduced dynamics. We discuss how the operators are related to those considered in pre…
A variety of dynamics in nature and society can be approximately treated as a driven and damped parametric oscillator. An intensive investigation of this time-dependent model from an algebraic point of view provides a consistent method to resolve the classical dynamics and the quantum evolution in order to understand the time-dependent phenomena that occur not only in the macroscopic classical scale for the synchronized behaviors but also in the microscopic quantum scale for a coherent state evolution. By using a Floquet U-transformation on a general time-dependent quadratic Hamiltonian, we ex…
The systems with multimode nonstationary Hamiltonians quadratic in position and momentum operators are reviewed. The tomographic probability distributions (tomograms) for the Fock states and Gaussian states of the quadratic systems are discussed. The tomograms for the Fock states are expressed in terms of multivariable Hermite polynomials. Using the obvious physical relations some new formulas for multivariable Hermite polynomials are found. Examples of oscillator and charge moving in electromagnetic field are presented.
The dynamics of time-dependent coupled oscillator model for the charged particle motion subjected to a time-dependent external magnetic field is investigated. We used canonical transformation approach for the classical treatment of the system, whereas unitary transformation approach is used when managing the system in the framework of quantum mechanics. For both approaches, the original system is transformed to a much more simple system that is the sum of two independent harmonic oscillators which have time-dependent frequencies. We therefore easily identified the wave functions in the transfo…
The time evolution of occupation number is studied for fermionic or bosonic oscillator linearly fully coupled to several fermionic and bosonic heat baths. The influence of characteristics of thermal reservoirs of different statistics on the non-stationary population probability is analyzed at large times. Applications of the absence of equilibrium in such systems for creating a dynamic (nonstationary) memory storage are discussed.
In this paper we introduce an alternative approach to studying the evolution of a quantum harmonic oscillator subject to an arbitrary time dependent force. With the purpose of finding the evolution operator, certain unitary transformations are applied successively to Schrödinger's equation reducing it to its simplest form. Therefore, instead of solving the original Schrödinger's partial differential equation in time and space the problem is replaced by a system of ordinary differential equations. From the obtained evolution operator we workout the propagator. Even though we illustrate the use …
A time-dependent unitary (canonical) transformation is found which maps the Hamiltonian for a harmonic oscillator with time-dependent real mass and real frequency to that of a generalized harmonic oscillator with time-dependent real mass and imaginary frequency. The latter may be reduced to an ordinary harmonic oscillator by means of another unitary (canonical) transformation. A simple analysis of the resulting system leads to the identification of a previously unknown class of exactly solvable time-dependent oscillators. Furthermore, it is shown how one can apply these results to establish a …
A general treatment of the quantal time-dependent coupled oscillators in presence of the variable magnetic field is presented. The treatment is based on the use of an alternative canonical transformations, time-dependent unitary transformations and the invariant methods. Exact wave functions for Schrödinger equations of this system are constructed. We applied our theory to a particular case and, co,sequently, showed that our results recovers to the perviously known one.
A general dynamical invariant operator for three coupled time-dependent oscillators is derived. Although the obtained invariant operator satisfies the Liouville-von Neumann equation, its mathematical formula is somewhat complicated due to arbitrariness of time variations of parameters. The parametric conditions required for formulating this invariant are definitely specified. By using the unitary transformation method, the invariant operator is transformed to the one that corresponds to three independent simple harmonic oscillators. Inverse transformation of the well-known quantum solutions as…
The Feynman path integral for the generalized harmonic oscillator is reviewed, and it is shown that the path integral can be used to find a complete set of wave functions for the oscillator. Harmonic oscillators with different (time-dependent) parameters can be related through unitary transformations. The existence of generalized coherent states for a simple harmonic oscillator can then be interpreted as the result of a (formal) {\em invariance} under a unitary transformation which relates the same harmonic oscillator. In the path integral formalism, the invariance is reflected in that the ker…
Unique set of coherent states for the anharmonic oscillator is obtained by requiring i. under the quantum mechanical time evolution a coherent state evolves into another, governed by trajectory in the classical phase space (of a related hamiltonian); ii. the resolution of identity involves exactly the classical phase space measure. The rules are invariant under unitary transformations of the quantum theory and canonical transformations of the classical theory. The states are almost, but not quite, minimal uncertainty wave packets. The construction can be generalized to quantum versions of integ…
In a previous work the concept of quantum potential is generalized into extended phase space (EPS) for a particle in linear and harmonic potentials. It was shown there that in contrast to the Schrödinger quantum mechanics by an appropriate extended canonical transformation one can obtain the Wigner representation of phase space quantum mechanics in which the quantum potential is removed from dynamical equation. In other words, one still has the form invariance of the ordinary Hamilton-Jacobi equation in this representation. The situation, mathematically, is similar to the disappearance of the …
In a recent paper, it has been shown the Schrödinger equation for the three-dimensional harmonic oscillator can be simplified through the use of an isometric conformal transformation. Here, it is demonstrated that the same transformation technique is also applicable to the Schrödinger equation for the hydrogen atom. This approach has two interesting features. Firstly, it eliminates potential fields from the Schrödinger equation. The Coulomb and harmonic binding terms are instead represented as imaginary parts of complex time. Secondly, the method leads to a general relationship between potenti…
Quantum canonical transformations corresponding to the action of the unitary operator $e^{iε(t)\sqrt{f(x)}p\sqrt{f(x)}}$ is studied. It is shown that for $f(x)=x$, the effect of this transformation is to rescale the position and momentum operators by $e^{ε(t)}$ and $e^{-ε(t)}$, respectively. This transformation is shown to lead to the identification of a previously unknown class of exactly solvable time-dependent harmonic oscillators. It turns out that the Caldirola-Kanai oscillator whose mass is given by $m=m_0 e^{γt}$, belongs to this class. It is also shown that for arbitrary $f(x)$, this c…
The study of diatomic molecules plays a central role in the understanding of the chemical bond. For their simplicity, they serve as a model for the study of more complex molecular systems. In this article, we solve the rovibrational Schrödinger equation for diatomic molecules using the Kratzer oscillator, by means of so(2,1) Lie algebra. The energies and bound states for this simple model are obtained through a canonical transformation of the molecular Hamiltonian. The main contribution of the Lie-algebraic approach is that this allows us to reduce the degree of Schrödinger equation, obtaining…
We analyze the quantization of the Pais-Uhlenbeck fourth order oscillator within the framework of deformation quantization. Our approach exploit the Noether symmetries of the system by proposing integrals of motion as the variables to obtain a solution to the -genvalue equation, namely the Wigner function. We also obtain, by means of a quantum canonical transformation the wave function associated to the Schrödinger equation of the system. We show that unitary evolution of the system is guaranteed by means of the quantum canonical transformation and via the properties of the constructed Wigner …
It is shown that the Hurwitz transformation connects the eight-dimensional repulsive oscillator problem with the five-dimensional Coulomb problem for continuous spectrum. The hyperspherical and parabolic bases for this system are calculated. The quantum mechanical scattering problem of charged particles in the 5-dimensional Coulomb field is solved.
We study the unitary time evolution of a simple quantum Hamiltonian describing two harmonic oscillators coupled via a three-level system. The latter acts as an engine transferring energy from one oscillator to the other and is driven in a cyclic manner by time-dependent external fields. The S-matrix of the cycle is obtained in analytic form. The total number of quanta contained in the system is a conserved quantity. As a consequence the spectrum of the S-matrix is purely discrete and the evolution of the system is quasi-periodic.
The well-known supersymmetric constructions such as Witten's supersymmetric quantum mechanics, Spiridonov-Rubakov parasupersymmetric quantum mechanics, and higher-derivative SUSY of Andrianov et al. are extended to the nonstationary Schrödinger equation. All these constructions are based on the time-dependent Darboux transformation. The superalgebra over the conventional Lie algebra is constructed. Examples of time-dependent exactly solvable potentials are given.
The ESR model proposes a new theoretical perspective which incorporates the mathematical formalism of standard (Hilbert space) quantum mechanics (QM) in a noncontextual framework, reinterpreting quantum probabilities as conditional on detection instead of absolute. We have provided in some previous papers mathematical representations of the physical entities introduced by the ESR model, namely observables, properties, pure states, proper and improper mixtures, together with rules for calculating conditional and overall probabilities, and for describing transformations of states induced by meas…
Continuing our inquiry into the conditions when fluctuation-dissipation relations (FDR) may appear in the context of nonequilibrium dynamics of open quantum systems (over and beyond the conventional FDR from linear response theory) we turn to nonGaussian systems and consider this issue for an anharmonic oscillator interacting with a scalar quantum field bath. We present the general {nonperturbative} expressions for the rate of energy (power) exchange between the anharmonic oscillator and the thermal bath. For the cases that a stable final equilibrium state exists, and the nonstationary compone…
We present a version of q-deformed calculus based on deformed counterparts of Darboux intertwining operators. The case in which the deformed transformation function is of the vacuum type is detailed, but the extension to counterparts of excited states used as Darboux transformation functions is also formally discussed. The method leads to second-order Fokker-Planck-like deformed operators which may be considered as supersymmetric partners, though for a sort of q-deformed open systems, i.e., those possessing q nonlocal drift terms, potential part, as well as q-spreaded vacuum fluctuations. The …
It is shown that the generalized MIC-Kepler system and four-dimensional singular oscillator are dual to each other and the duality transformation is the generalized version of the Kustaanheimo-Stiefel transformation.
We construct a Darboux transformation for a class of two-dimensional Dirac systems at zero energy. Our starting equation features a position-dependent mass, a matrix potential, and an additional degree of freedom that can be interpreted either as a magnetic field perpendicular to the plane or a generalized Dirac oscillator interaction. We obtain a number of Darbouxtransformed Dirac equations for which the zero energy solutions are exactly known.
We propose a novel symmetrization procedure to beat decoherence for oscillator-assisted quantum gate operations. The enacted symmetry is related to the global geometric features of qubits transformation based on ancillary oscillator modes, e.g. phonons in an ion-trap system. It is shown that the devised multi-circuit symmetrized evolution endows the system with a two-fold resilience against decoherence: insensitivity to thermal fluctuations and quantum dissipation.
We comment on several incorrect results given in a recent paper by Lo and Wong. In particular, it is pointed out that their evaluation of the propagator for two coupled general driven time-dependent oscillators is not satisfactory. The correct expression can be obtained by applying an appropriate time-dependent canonical transformation.
In this work the supersymmetric technique is applied to the truncated oscillator to generate Hamiltonians ruled by second and third-order polynomial Heisenberg algebras, which are connected to the Painlevé IV and Painlevé V equations respectively. The aforementioned connection is exploited to produce particular solutions to both non-linear differential equations and the Bäcklund transformations relating them.
The dissipative harmonic oscillator has two representations. In the first representation the central oscillator couples with its position to an oscillator bath. In the second one it couples with its momentum to the bath. Both representations are related by a unitary transformation. If the central oscillator couples with its position and momentum to two independent baths, no such unitary transformation exists. We discuss two possible models of this type and their physical relevance.
We study how to understand the complex coordinates involved in the non-Hermitian but PT-symmetric systems. We explore a PT-symmetric oscillator model to show that the entire information on the complex position is attainable. Its real part is from the observation while its imaginary part is from the non-Hermiticity parameter. We also propose a new complex extension of P-transformation and T-transformation (the `parity' and `time reflection' respectively). Particularly, the P-transformation realizes the left-right reflection in the complex plane.
We construct Lewis-Riesenfeld invariants from two dimensional point transformations for two oscillators that are coupled to each other in space in a PT-symmetrical and time-dependent fashion. The non-Hermitian Hamiltonian of the model is conveniently expressed in terms of generators of the symplectic $sp(4)$ Lie algebra. This allows for an alternative systematic approach to find Lewis-Riesenfeld invariants leading to a set of coupled differential equations that we solve by using time-ordered exponentials. We also demonstrate that point transformations may be utilized to directly construct time…
Quantum canonical transformations corresponding to time-dependent diffeomorphisms of the configuration space are studied. A special class of these transformations which correspond to time-dependent dilatations is used to identify a previously unknown class of exactly solvable time-dependent harmonic oscillators. The Caldirola-Kanai oscillator belongs to this class. For a general time-dependent harmonic oscillator, it is shown that choosing the dilatation parameter to satisfy the classical equation of motion, one obtains the solution of the Schrödinger equation. A simple generalization of this …
Valtancoli in his paper entitled [P. Valtancoli, Canonical transformations, and minimal length J. Math. Phys. 56, 122107 (2015)] has shown how the deformation of the canonical transformations can be made compatible with the deformed Poisson brackets. Based on this work and through an appropriate canonical transformation, we solve the problem of one dimensional (1D) damped harmonic oscillator at the classical limit of the Snyder-de Sitter (SdS) space. We show that the equations of the motion can be described by trigonometric functions with frequency and period depending on the deformed and the …
In this work we address the problem of the quantization of a simple harmonic oscillator that is perturbed by a time dependent force. The approach consists of removing the perturbation by a canonical change of coordinates. Since the quantization procedure uses the classical Hamiltonian formalism as staring point, the change of variables is carried out using canonical transformations, and to transform between the quantized systems the canonical transformation is implemented as a unitary transformation mapping the states of the perturbed and unperturbed system onto each other.
