A plane symmetric Bianchi I model is considered with constant deceleration parameter, $q=α-1$, where $α\geq0$. The model with $α=0$ violates the NEC throughout the evolution, and hence provides a physically unrealistic scenario. The model with $α\neq0$ obeys the NEC and WEC at late times, which shows that the models in this case can render a physical realistic cosmological scenario, though for a restricted period of time. It is also shown that the physical and kinematical behaviour of both models remain similar to an LRS Bianchi I model.
We studied plane symmetric cosmological model in the presence of quark and strange quark matter with the help of f(R,T) theory. To decipher solutions of Plane symmetric space-time, we used power law relation between scale factor and deceleration parameter. We considered the special law of variation of Hubble's parameter proposed by Berman (Nuovo Cimento B 74, 182, 1983) which yields constant deceleration parameter. We also discussed the physical behavior of the solutions by using some physical parameters.
In this article, we investigate the modified symmetric teleparallel gravity or $f(Q)$ gravity, where $Q$ is the non-metricity, to study the evolutionary history of the universe by considering the functional form of $f(Q)=αQ^n$, where $α$ and $n$ are constants. Here, we consider the parametrization form of the deceleration parameter as $q=q_0+\frac{q_1\,z}{(1+z)^2}$ which provides the desired property for sign flip from a decelerating to an accelerating phase. We get the solution of the Hubble parameter by examining the mentioned parametric form of $q$, and then we impose the solution in Friedm…
Locally rotationally symmetric (LRS) Bianchi Type I cosmological models are examined in the presence of dynamically anisotropic dark energy and perfect fluid. We assume that the dark energy (DE) is minimally interacting, has dynamical energy density, anisotropic equation of state parameter (EoS). The conservation of the energy-momentum tensor of the DE is assumed to consist of two separately additive conserved parts. A special law is assumed for the deviation from isotropic EoS, which is consistent with the assumption on the conservation of the energy-momentum tensor of the DE. Exact solutions…
We investigate the late time acceleration with a Chaplygin type of gas in spherically symmetric inhomogeneous model. At the early phase we get Einstien-deSitter type of solution generalised to inhomogeneous spacetime. But at late stage of the evolution our solutions admit the accelerating nature of the universe. For a large scale factor our model behaves like a ?CDM model. We calculate the deceleration parameter for this anisotropic model, which, unlike its homogeneous counterpart, shows that the flip is not syn- chronous occurring early at the outer shells. This is in line with other physical…
In this paper, we have studied homogeneous and anisotropic, locally rotationally symmetric (LRS) Bianchi type-I universe model with magnetized strange quark matter (MSQM) distribution and cosmological constant $Λ$ in $f(R,T)$ gravity. The exact solutions of the field equations are obtained under bilinear and special form of time varying deceleration parameter (DP). Firstly we have considered two specific form of bilinear DP with a single parameter of the form: $q=\frac{α(1-t)}{1+t}$ and $q=-\frac{αt}{1+t}$, which leads to a function with constant or linear nature with respect to the choice of …
We study the periodic cosmic transit behavior of accelerated universe in the framework of symmetric teleparallelism. The exact solution of field equations is obtained by employing a well known deceleration parameter (DP) called periodic varying deceleration parameter (PVDP), $q = m cos kt-1$. The viability and physical reliability of the DP are studied by using the observational constraint. The dynamics of periodicity and singularity are addressed in details with respect to time and redshift parameter. Several ECs are discussed in this setting.
We study an extension of symmetric teleparallel gravity i.e. Weyl-type $f(Q,T)$ gravity and the divergence-free parametrization of the deceleration parameter $q(z) = q_{0}+q_{1}\frac{z(1+z)}{1+z^2}$ ($q_{0}$ and $q_{1}$ are free constants) to explore the evolution of the universe. By considering the above parametric form of $q$, we derive the Hubble solution and further impose it in the Friedmann equations of Weyl-type $f(Q, T)$ gravity. To see whether this model can challenge the $Λ$CDM limits, we computed the constraints on the model parameters using the Bayesian analysis for the Observation…
The illustration of cosmic acceleration under two interacting dark energy models (pilgrim dark energy with Granda and Oliveros cutoff and its generalized ghost version) in DGP braneworld framework is presented. In the current scenario, the equation of state parameter, deceleration parameter, $ω_{D}-ω'_{D}$ plane and statefinder diagnosis are investigated. The equation state parameter behave-like phantom era of the universe. The deceleration parameter depicts the accelerated expansion of the universe in both models. The cosmological planes like $ω_{D}-ω'_{D}$ and statefinder corresponds to $Λ$C…
The paper presents Barrow holographic dark energy (infrared cut-off is the Hubble horizon) suggested by Barrow recently (Physics Letters B 808 (2020): 135643) in an anisotropic Bianchi type-I Universe within the framework of $% f\left( Q\right) $ symmetric teleparallel gravity, where the non-metricity scalar $Q$ is responsible for the gravitational interaction. We consider two cases: Interacting and non-interacting models of pressureless dark matter and Barrow holographic dark energy by solving $f\left( Q\right) $ symmetric teleparallel field equations. To find the exact solutions of the field…
In this paper, we have examined the recently proposed modified symmetric teleparallel gravity, in which gravitational Lagrangian is given by an arbitrary function of non-metricity scalar $Q$. We have considered a constant jerk parameter to express the Hubble rate. Moreover, we have used 31 points of OHD datasets and 1701 points of Pantheon+ datasets to constraint our model parameters by means of the Markov Chain Monte Carlo analysis. The mean values and the best fit obtained give a consistent Hubble rate and deceleration parameter compared to the observation values. In order to study the curre…
In this paper, we have analyzed the significance of bulk viscosity in an axially symmetric Bianchi type-I model to study the accelerated expansion of the universe. We have considered four bulk viscosity parameterizations for the matter-dominated cosmological model. The function of the two significant Hubble $H(z)$ and deceleration parameters are discussed in detail. The energy parameters of the universe are computed using the most recent observational Hubble data (57 data points) in the redshift range $0.07 \leq z \leq 2.36)$. In this model, we obtained all feasible solutions with the viscous …
This paper is devoted to investigate the anisotropic locally rotationally symmetric (LRS) Bianchi type-I space-time in the context of the recently proposed $f(Q)$ gravity in which $Q$ is the non-metricity scalar. For this purpose, we consider a linear form of $f\left( Q\right) $ gravity model, specifically, $f\left( Q\right) =αQ+β$, where $α$ and $% β$ are free parameters and we analyzed the exact solutions of LRS Bianchi type-I space-time. The modified Friedmann equations are solved by presuming an expansion scalar $θ\left( t\right) $ is proportional to the shear scalar $σ\left( t\right) $ wh…
The aim of this paper is to analyze the cosmological evolution of holographic dark energy in $f(\mathcal{G},T)$ gravity ($\mathcal{G}$ and $T$ represent the Gauss-Bonnet invariant and trace of the energy-momentum tensor, respectively). We reconstruct $f(\mathcal{G},T)$ model through correspondence scheme using power-law form of the scale factor. The qualitative analysis of the derived model is investigated with the help of evolutionary trajectories of equation of state, deceleration as well as state-finder diagnostic parameters and $ω_{_{\mathcal{G}T}}-ω'_{_{\mathcal{G}T}}$ cosmological phase …
In this study, we have demonstrated the expansion history of an axially symmetric Bianchi type-I model of the universe. Our model as of now presents an accelerating universe, which had been in the decelerating phase in the past. Roles of the two crucial Hubble~$H(z)$ and deceleration~$q(z)$ parameters are examined. The energy parameters of the universe are estimated with the help of the latest observational Hubble data (46-data points) and Pantheon data (the latest compilation of SNIa with 40 binned in the redshift range $0.014 \leq z \leq 1.62)$. We also discuss the stability analysis of the …
A plane symmetric Bianchi-I model is explored in $f(R,T)$ gravity, where $R$ is the Ricci scalar and $T$ is the trace of energy-momentum tensor. The solutions are obtained with the consideration of a specific Hubble parameter which yields a constant deceleration parameter. The various evolutionary phases are identified under the constraints obtained for physically viable cosmological scenarios. Although a single (primary) matter source is taken, due to the coupling between matter and $f(R,T)$ gravity, an additional matter source appears, which mimics a perfect fluid or exotic matter. The solut…
Using Lie symmetry methods for differential equations we have investigated the symmetries of a Lagrangian for a plane symmetric static spacetime. Perturbing this Lagrangian we explore its approximate symmetries. It has a non-trivial first-order approximate symmetry.
In this paper, we derive the general formulation by considering two arbitrary plane symmetric spacetimes using Israel's method. As an example, we apply this formulation to known plane symmetric spacetimes. We take the Taub's static metric in the interior region whereas Kasner's non-static metric in the exterior region. It is shown that the plane collapses in some cases whereas it expands in some other cases.
We present a new exact solution in Brans-Dicke theory. The solution describes inhomogeneous plane-symmetric perfect fluid cosmological model with an equation of state $p=γρ$. Some main properties of the solution are discussed.
This paper is devoted to classify the most general plane symmetric spacetimes according to kinematic self-similar perfect fluid and dust solutions. We provide a classification of the kinematic self-similarity of the first, second, zeroth and infinite kinds with different equations of state, where the self-similar vector is not only tilted but also orthogonal and parallel to the fluid flow. This scheme of classification yields twenty four plane symmetric kinematic self-similar solutions. Some of these solutions turn out to be vacuum. These solutions can be matched with the already classified pl…
In this article on the basis of a new definition of spacetime symmetry, which is in accordance with the symmetry of the curvature invariants, we investigate exact vacuum solutions of Einstein field equations corresponding to both static and stationary plane symmetric spacetimes using the concepts of the (1+3)-decomposition or threading formalism. Demanding the presence of a plane symmetric gravitomagnetic field we find a family of two parameter (m and l) solutions, every member of which being the plane symmetric analogue of NUT space.
We define the concept of a Maximally symmetric osculating space-time at any event of any given Robertson-Walker model. We use this definition in two circumstances: i) to approximate any given cosmological model by a simpler one sharing the same observational parameters, i.e, the speed of light, the Hubble constant and the deceleration parameter at the time of tangency, and ii) to shed some light on the problem of considering an eventual influence of the overall behaviour of the Universe on localized systems at smaller scales, or viceversa.
We investigate the new Tsallis agegraphic dark energy (NTADE) scenario in the framework of Horava-Lifshitz cosmology. Considering interacting and non-interacting scenarios of NTADE with dark matter in a spatially non-flat universe, we investigate the cosmological implications of this model in detail. We obtain the differential equation of the evolution of the density parameter, the equation of state parameter and the classical stability of model. Also, we study the behavior of the deceleration parameter and investigate the nature of the statefinder diagnostics and $ω_D-{ω_D}^{\prime}$ plane. W…
In this paper, we investigate the existence of bulk viscous FLRW cosmological models in a recently proposed extended symmetric teleparallel gravity or $f\left( Q,T\right) $ gravity in which $Q$ is the non-metricity and $T$ is the trace of the energy-momentum tensor. We consider a simple coupling between matter and non-metricity, specifically, $f\left( Q,T\right) =αQ^{m+1}+λT$ and $f\left( Q,T\right) =αQ+λT$ where $α$, $λ$ and $m$ are free model parameters. The exact cosmological solutions are found by assuming the scale factor in the form of the hybrid expansion law. This type of relation gene…

This is a generalization of the idea discussed by I. Hussain and A. Noether symmetries from geodetic Lagrangian for time-conformal plane symmetric spacetime are presented. Here, time conformal factor is used to find the approximate Noether symmetries. This is a generalization of the idea discussed by I. Hussain and A. Statefinder diagnostic is a convenient method that can differentiate between the various dark energy models. In this article, we analyze the statefinder parameters in symmetric teleparallel cosmology. The $f(Q)$ gravity theory is an alternative theory to GR, where gravitational interactions attribute to the non-metricity scalar $Q$. In the present work, we consider two $f(Q)$ models which contains a linear and a non-linear form of non-metricity scalar, specifically, $f(Q)=αQ + \fracβ{Q}$ and $f(Q)=αQ + βQ^2$, where $α$ and $β$ are free parameters and then statefinder parameters $(r,s)$ are eva…
We prove the existence of a class of plane symmetric perfect-fluid cosmologies with a (-1/3, 2/3, 2/3) Kasner-like singularity. These solutions of the Einstein equations depend on two smooth functions of one space coordinate. They are constructed by solving a symmetric hyperbolic system of Fuchsian equations.
The $f(R)$ theory is considered for static cylindrically symmetric and plane-symmetric spacetimes. In order to find solutions to the field equations of these models, the Noether symmetry method is used. First, we examine the GR case for cylindrically symmetrical space-time with the $w=-1$ dark energy state. Then, with the assumption of $f(R) = f_0R^n$, cases with matter and non-matter are examined and general solutions are determined for both space-times. Thus, it is shown that inclusive new solutions are obtained, considering the Noether symmetric conditions. In addition, the GR limit for eac…
The modified theories of gravity, especially the f(R) theory, have attracted much attention in recent years. In this context, we explore static plane symmetric vacuum solutions using the metric approach of this theory. The field equations are solved using the assumption of constant scalar curvature which may be zero or non-zero. We have found a total of three plane symmetric solutions. The correspondence of these solutions with the well-known solutions in General Relativity is given.
We investigate matter collineations of plane symmetric spacetimes when the energy-momentum tensor is degenerate. There exists three interesting cases where the group of matter collineations is finite-dimensional. The matter collineations in these cases are either four, six or ten in which four are isometries and the rest are proper.
A general formula for the metric as an explicit function of the generic energy-momentum tensor is given which satisfies static plane symmetric Einstein's equations with cosmological constant. In order to illustrate it, the solutions for the vacuum with cosmological constant, the perfect fluid with a linear equation of state and the electrically charged plane are derived and compared with known results. The general solution with a linear relation among the energy-momentum tensor components is also obtained.
In this work, we have discussed a spatially homogeneous and anisotropic Bianchi type-I space-time in the presence of Barrow holographic dark energy (infrared cut-off is the Hubble's horizon) proposed by Barrow recently (Physics Letters B 808 (2020): 135643) and matter in the framework of $f(Q)$ gravity where the non-metricity $Q$ is responsible for the gravitational interaction for the specific choice of $f(Q)=λQ^{2}$ (where $λ<0$ is a constant). To find the exact solutions to the field equations we consider the deceleration parameter $q$ is a function of the Hubble's parameter $H$ i.e. $q=b-\…
The Klein-Gordon equations were recently solved in general relativity for the case of a plane-symmetric static massless scalar field with cosmological constant. By analytic continuation, time-dependent solutions can be obtained that correspond to cosmologies. These spacetimes are studied here, and include among them a solution exhibiting both early inflation and later continued rapid expansion that matches well with the Concordance Model.
In this paper, the exact vacuum solution of a general plane symmetric spacetime is investigated in metric f(R) gravity with the assumption of constant Ricci scalar. For this solution, we have studied the generalized Landau-Lifshitz energy-momentum complex in this theory to determine the energy distribution expressions for some specific f(R) models. Also, we show that these models satisfy the constant curvature condition.
For any configuration of a static plane-symmetric distribution of matter along space-time, there are coordinates where the metric can be put explicitly as a functional of the energy density and pressures. It satisfies Einstein equations as far as we require the conservation of the energy-momentum tensor, which is the single ODE for self-gravitating hydrostatic equilibrium. As a direct application, a general solution is given when the pressures are linearly related to the energy density, recovering, as special cases, most of known solutions of static plane-symmetric Einstein equations.
A plane-symmetric non-static cosmological model representing a bulk viscous fluid distribution has been obtained which is inhomogeneous and anisotropic and a particular case of which is gravitationally radiative. Without assuming any {\it adhoc} law, we obtain a cosmological constant as a decreasing function of time. The physical and geometric features of the models are also discussed.
The modified theories of gravity, especially the $f(R)$ gravity, have attracted much attention in the last decade. This paper is devoted to exploring plane symmetric solutions in the context of metric $f(R)$ gravity. We extend the work on static plane symmetric vacuum solutions in $f(R)$ gravity already available in literature [1, 2]. The modified field equations are solved using the assumption of both constant and non-constant scalar curvature. Some well known solutions have been recovered with power law and logarithmic forms of $f(R)$ models.
The Einstein equations with a positive cosmological constant are coupled to the pressureless perfect fluid matter in plane symmetry. Under suitable restrictions on the initial data, the resulting Einstein-dust system is proved to have a global classical solution in the future time direction. Some late time asymptotic properties are obtained as well.
In this paper, we study dynamics of the charged plane symmetric gravitational collapse. For this purpose, we discuss non-adiabatic flow of a viscous fluid and deduce the results for adiabatic case. The Einstein and Maxwell field equations are formulated for general plane symmetric spacetime in the interior. Junction conditions between the interior and exterior regions are derived. For the non-adiabatic case, the exterior is taken as plane symmetric charged Vaidya spacetime while for the adiabatic case, it is described by plane Reissner-Nordstr$\ddot{o}$m spacetime. Using Misner and Sharp forma…
In this paper we investigate a class of solutions of Einstein equations for the plane-symmetric perfect fluid case with shear and vanishing acceleration. If these solutions have shear, they must necessarily be non-static. We examine the integrable cases of the field equations systematically. Among the cases with shear we find three classes of solutions.
New exact vacuum solutions with various singularities in the plane-symmetric spacetime are shown, and they are applied to the analysis of inhomogeneous cosmological models and colliding gravitational waves. One of the singularities can be true null singularities, whose existence was locally clarified by Ori. These solutions may be interesting from the viewpoint of the variety of cosmological singularities and the instability problem of Cauchy horizons inside black holes.
The present study deals with the inhomogeneous plane symmetric models in scalar - tensor theory of gravitation. We used symmetry group analysis method to solve the field equations analytically. A new class of similarity solutions have been obtained by considering the inhomogeneous nature of metric potential. The physical behavior and geometrical aspects of the derived models are also discussed.
We formulate a theory combining the principles of a scalar-tensor gravity and Rastall's proposal of a violation of the usual conservation laws. We obtain a scalar-tensor theory with two parameters $ω$ and $λ$, the latter quantifying the violation of the usual conservation laws. The only exact spherically symmetric solution is that of Robinson-Bertotti besides Schwarzschild solution. A PPN analysis reveals that General Relativity results are reproduced when $λ= 0$. The cosmological case displays a possibility of deceleration/acceleration or acceleration/deceleration transitions during the matte…
In our recent paper, we classified plane symmetric kinematic self-similar perfect fluid and dust solutions of the second, zeroth and infinite kinds. However, we have missed some solutions during the process. In this short communication, we add up those missing solutions. We have found a total of seven solutions, out of which five turn out to be independent and cannot be found in the earlier paper
The Einstein equations for a plane-symmetric gravitational field coupled to an arbitrary nonlinear sigma model (NSM) are shown to be represented in the form of dynamical equations of a {\it generalized effective NSM}. The gravitational equations are studied in this case by the methods of analyzing NSM equations. In the case of a two-component diagonal NSM exact solutions are found by the functional parameter method.
We present the effective field equations obtained from a generalized gravity action with Euler-Poincare term and a cosmological constant in a $D$ dimensional bulk space-time. A class of plane-symmetric solutions that describe a 3-brane world embedded in a D=5 dimensional bulk space-time are given.
An effective chiral model of a plane-symmetric gravitational field is considered. Isometries of the target space of the model are described and exact solutions corresponding to the isometric ansatz method are obtained. New exact solutions are found using the method of functional parameters. The solutions obtained are Bäcklund transforms of solutions of the d'Alembert equation to those of the Einstein equations.
We construct a new class of plane-symmetric solutions possessing a curvature singularity which is null and weak, like the spacetime singularity at the Cauchy horizon of spinning (or charged) black holes. We then analyse the stability of this singularity using a rigorous non-perturbative method. We find that within the framework of (linearly-polarized) plane-symmetric spacetimes this type of null weak singularity is locally stable. Generically, the singularity is also scalar-curvature. These observations support the new picture of the null weak singularity inside spinning (or charged) black hol…
We present a detailed analysis of the general exact solution of Einstein's equation corresponding to a static and plane symmetric distribution of matter with density proportional to pressure. We study the geodesics in it and we show that this simple spacetime exhibits very curious properties. In particular, it has a free of matter repelling singular boundary and all geodesics bounce off it.
The behavior of magnetic field in plane symmetric inhomogeneous cosmological models for bulk viscous distribution is investigated. The coefficient of bulk viscosity is assumed to be a power function of mass density $(ξ=ξ_{0}ρ^{n})$. The values of cosmological constant for these models are found to be small and positive which are supported by the results from recent supernovae Ia observations. Some physical and geometric aspects of the models are also discussed.
The nature of the initial singularity in spatially compact plane symmetric scalar field cosmologies is investigated. It is shown that this singularity is crushing and velocity dominated and that the Kretschmann scalar diverges uniformly as it is approached. The last fact means in particular that a maximal globally hyperbolic spacetime in this class cannot be extended towards the past through a Cauchy horizon. A subclass of these spacetimes is identified for which the singularity is isotropic.
In this paper general solutions are found for domain walls in Lyra geometry in the plane symmetric spacetime metric given by Taub. Expressions for the energy density and pressure of domain walls are derived in both cases of uniform and time varying displacement field $β$. It is also shown that the results obtained by Rahaman et al [IJMPD, {\bf 10}, 735 (2001)] are particular case of our solutions. Finally, the geodesic equations and acceleration of the test particle are discussed.
This paper is devoted to the study of matter collineations of plane symmetric spacetimes (for a particular class of spacetimes) when the energy-momentum tensor is non-degenerate. There exists many interesting cases where we obtain proper matter collineations. The matter collineations in these cases are {\it four}, \emph{five}, {\it six}, \emph{seven} and {\it ten} with some constraints on the energy-momentum tensor. We have solved some of these constraints to obtain solutions of the Einstein field equations.
We study the final outcome of gravitational collapse resulting from the plane symmetric charged Vaidya spacetime. Using the field equations, we show that the weak energy condition is always satisfied by collapsing fluid. It is found that the singularity formed is naked. The strength of singularity is also investigated by using Nolan's method. This turns out to be a strong curvature singularity in Tipler's sense and hence provides a counter example to the cosmic censorship hypothesis.
Some bulk viscous general solutions are found for domain walls in Lyra geometry in the plane symmetric inhomogeneous spacetime. Expressions for the energy density and pressure of domain walls are derived in both cases of uniform and time varying displacement field $β$. The viscosity coefficient of bulk viscous fluid is assumed to be a power function of mass density. Some physical consequences of the models are also given. Finally, the geodesic equations and acceleration of the test particle are discussed.
Gravitational radiation in plane-symmetric space-times can be encoded in a complex potential, satisfying a non-linear wave equation. An effective energy tensor for the radiation is given, taking a scalar-field form in terms of the potential, entering the field equations in the same way as the matter energy tensor. It reduces to the Isaacson energy tensor in the linearized, high-frequency approximation. An energy conservation equation is derived for a quasi-local energy, essentially the Hawking energy. A transverse pressure exerted by interacting low-frequency gravitational radiation is predict…
A plane-symmetric inhomogeneous cosmological model of perfect fluid distribution with electro-magnetic field is obtained. The source of the magnetic field is due to an electric current produced along the z-axis. $F_{12}$ is the non-vanishing component of electromagnetic field tensor. To get a deterministic solution, we assume the free gravitational field is Petrov type-II non-degenerate. The behaviour of the electro-magnetic field tensor together with some physical aspects of the model are also discussed.
