A few paradigmatic one-dimensional lattice-statistical spin models have recently attracted a vigorous scientific interest owing to their peculiar thermodynamic behavior, which is highly reminiscent of a temperature-driven phase transition. The pseudotransitions of one-dimensional lattice-statistical spin models differ from actual phase transitions in several important aspects: the first-order derivatives of the Gibbs free energy such as entropy or magnetization exhibit near a pseudo-transition an abrupt continuous change instead of a true discontinuity, whereas the second-order derivatives of the Gibbs free energy such as specific heat or susceptibility display near a pseudo-transition a vigorous finite peak instead of an actual power-law divergence. In the present chapter we will comprehensively examine a pseudo-critical behavior of the spin-1/2 Ising diamond and tetrahedral chains by a detailed examination of basic magnetothermodynamic quantities such as the entropy, specific heat and susceptibility. It will be demonstrated that density plots of these magnetothermodynamic quantities provide a useful tool for establishing a finite-temperature diagram, which clearly delimits boundaries between individual quasi-phases in spite of a lack of true spontaneous long-range order at any nonzero temperature. It is suggested that a substantial difference between the degeneracies of two ground states of the spin-1/2 Ising diamond and tetrahedral chains is an essential prerequisite for observation of a relevant pseudo-critical behavior in a close vicinity of their ground-state phase boundary.
The asymmetric tetrahedron is composed by all edges of tetrahedron represented by Ising interaction except one, which has a Heisenberg type interaction. This asymmetric tetrahedron is arranged connecting a vertex which edges are only Ising type interaction to another vertex with same structure of another tetrahedron. The process is replicated and this kind of lattice we call the asymmetric Ising-Heisenberg chain. We have studied the ground state phase diagram for this kind of models. Particularly we consider two situations in the Heisenberg-type interaction, (i) The asymmetric tetrahedral spin…
The frustrated spin-1/2 Ising-Heisenberg ladder with Heisenberg intra-rung and Ising inter-rung interactions is exactly solved in a longitudinal magnetic field by taking advantage of the local conservation of the total spin on each rung and the transfer-matrix method. We have rigorously calculated the ground-state phase diagram, magnetization process, magnetocaloric effect and basic thermodynamic quantities for the model, which can be alternatively viewed as an Ising-Heisenberg tetrahedral chain. It is demonstrated that a stepwise magnetization curve with an intermediate plateau at a half of t…
The pairwise entanglement is exactly examined in the spin-1/2 Ising-Heisenberg double-tetrahedral chain with different Landé g-factors of the Ising and Heisenberg spins at zero and finite temperatures. It is shown that the phenomenon present in quantum non-chiral ground states is twice as strong as in quantum chiral ground states and that it gradually diminishes with increasing temperature until it completely vanishes at a certain threshold temperature. It is also demonstrated that the strong magnetic field maintains a weak thermal entanglement quite far from the saturation field, although the…
The ground-state degeneracy and magnetocaloric effect in the spin-$1/2$ Ising-Heisenberg double-tetrahedral chain are exactly investigated. It is demonstrated that the zero-temperature phase diagram involves two classical and two quantum chiral phases with distinct degrees of the macroscopic degeneracy. Different macroscopic degeneracies observed in the latter phases and at individual ground-state phase transitions are confirmed by multiple-peak dependencies of the specific heat and entropy on the magnetic field. The cooling capability of the model is well illustrated by the magnetic-field var…
Magnetocaloric effect in a double-tetrahedral chain, in which nodal lattice sites occupied by the localized Ising spins regularly alternate with three equivalent lattice sites available for mobile electrons, is exactly investigated by considering the one-third electron filling and the ferromagnetic Ising exchange interaction between the mobile electrons and their nearest Ising neighbours. The entropy and the magnetic Gruneisen parameter, which closely relate to the magnetocaloric effect, are exactly calculated in order to investigate the relation between the ground-state degeneracy and the coo…
A hybrid spin-electron system defined on one-dimensional double-tetrahedral chain, in which the localized Ising spin regularly alternates with two mobile electrons delocalized over a triangular plaquette, is exactly solved with the help of generalized decoration-iteration transformation. It is shown that a macroscopic degeneracy of ferromagnetic and ferrimagnetic ground states arising from chiral degrees of freedom of the mobile electrons cannot be lifted by a magnetic field in contrast to a macroscopic degeneracy of the frustrated ground state, which appears owing to a kinetically-driven frus…
The spin-1/2 Ising-Heisenberg tetrahedral chain is exactly solved using its local gauge symmetry, which enables one to establish a rigorous mapping with the corresponding chain of composite Ising spins tractable within the transfer-matrix approach. Exact results derived for spin-spin correlation functions are employed to obtain the frustration temperature, at which a product of correlation functions along an elementary triangular plaquette becomes negative and the relevant spins experience a spin frustration. In addition, we have exactly calculated a concurrence quantifying thermal entanglemen…
Ground-state and magnetocaloric properties of a double-tetrahedral chain, in which nodal lattice sites occupied by the localized Ising spins regularly alternate with triangular clusters half filled with mobile electrons, are exactly investigated by using the transfer-matrix method in combination with the construction of the $N$th tensor power of the discrete Fourier transformation. It is shown that the ground state of the model is formed by two non-chiral phases with the zero residual entropy and two chiral phases with the finite residual entropy $S = Nk_{\rm B}\ln 2$. Depending on the charact…
The mixed spin-1/2 and spin-1 Ising-Heisenberg ferromagnet on the decorated triangular lattice consisting of inter-connected diamonds is investigated within the framework of an exact decoration-iteration mapping transformation. It is shown that the diamond-like decoration by a couple of the Heisenberg spins gives rise to a diverse critical behaviour including reentrant phase transitions with two consecutive critical points.
Phase transitions of the mixed spin-1/2 and spin-1 Ising-Heisenberg model on several decorated planar lattices consisting of interconnected diamonds are investigated within the framework of the generalized decoration-iteration transformation. The main attention is paid to the systematic study of the finite-temperature phase diagrams in dependence on the lattice topology. The critical behaviour of the hybrid quantum-classical Ising-Heisenberg model is compared with the relevant behaviour of its semi-classical Ising analogue. It is shown that both models on diamond-like decorated planar lattices…
The ground state and the thermodynamics of a spin-1/2 asymmetric diamond Ising--Heisenberg chain are considered. For the $XYZ$ anisotropic Heisenberg interaction, the exact calculations of the free energy, entropy, heat capacity, magnetization, and magnetic susceptibility are performed using the method of decoration-iteration transformation. In the case of antiferromagnetic interactions (Ising and $XXZ$ anisotropic Heisenberg ones), the ground state, magnetization process, temperature dependence of the magnetization, magnetic susceptibility, and heat capacity are investigated. The influence of…
The symmetric spin-1/2 Ising-Heisenberg diamond chain with different Landé g-factors of Ising and Heisenberg spins is exactly solved by combining the generalized decoration-iteration transformation and transfer-matrix method. The ground state of the system and magnetocaloric effect during the adiabatic (de)magnetization are particularly examined. It is evidenced that the considered mixed-spin diamond chain exhibits an enhanced magnetocaloric effect during the adiabatic (de)magnetization in the vicinity of field-induced phase transitions as well as in the zero-field limit if the frustrated phas…
The spin-1 Ising-Heisenberg diamond chain in a magnetic field is exactly solved by a rigorous treatment based on the transfer-matrix method. An exact ground-state phase diagram includes in total three unconventional quantum ground states with a quantum entanglement of the decorating spin-1 Heisenberg dimers apart from two ground states with a classical spin arrangement. It is evidenced that all three values of the magnetization allowed for the spin-1 diamond chain without translationally broken symmetry by the Oshikawa-Yamanaka-Affleck criterion can become evident in an outstanding stepwise ma…
Magnetizations of ferro- and antiferromagnetic Ising models with frustration on diamond hierarchical lattices are exactly obtained at zero temperature. For the zero-field classical spin-liquid phase found in [Kobayashi {\it et al}, J. Phys. Soc. Jpn. 78, 074004 (2009) ], for which frustrating interactions play an important role, an infinitely small applied magnetic field can induce an infinitely small magnetization, despite classical Ising models that have discrete energy levels. In antiferromagnetic systems, the magnetization cannot saturate under finite magnetic fields owing to the competiti…
The mixed spin-(1,1/2) Ising-Heisenberg model on a distorted diamond chain with the spin-1 nodal atoms and the spin-1/2 interstitial atoms is exactly solved by the transfer-matrix method. An influence of the geometric spin frustration and the parallelogram distortion on the ground state, magnetization, susceptibility and specific heat of the mixed-spin Ising-Heisenberg distorted diamond chain are investigated in detail. It is demonstrated that the zero-temperature magnetization curve may involve intermediate plateaus just at zero and one-half of the saturation magnetization. The temperature de…
The spin-1/2 Ising diamond chain in a magnetic field displays a remarkable pseudo-transition whenever it is driven sufficiently close to a ground-state phase boundary between a classical ferrimagnetic phase and a highly degenerate frustrated phase. The pseudo-transition of the spin-1/2 Ising diamond chain relates to intense thermal excitations from a nondegenerate ferrimagnetic ground state to a highly degenerate manifold of excited states with a frustrated character, which are responsible for an anomalous behavior of thermodynamic quantities. Temperature dependences of entropy and specific he…
A frustrated Ising model on a diamond hierarchical lattice is studied. We obtain the exact partition function of this model and calculate the transition temperature, specific heat, entropy, magnetization, and ferromagnetic correlation function. Depending on the magnitude of a parameter giving the frustration, there exist three types of ground states: ferromagnetic, classical spin-liquid with highly developed short-range order, and paramagnetic. The dependence of the zero-temperature entropy on the frustration parameter has an infinite number of steps. The temperature dependence of the specific…
Magnetization process of the mixed spin-1/2 and spin-3/2 Ising-Heisenberg diamond chain is examined by combining three exact analytical techniques: Kambe projection method, decoration-iteration transformation and transfer-matrix method. Multiple frustration-induced plateaus in a magnetization process of this geometrically frustrated system are found provided that a relative ratio between the antiferromagnetic Heisenberg- and Ising-type interactions exceeds some particular value. By contrast, there is just a single magnetization plateau if the frustrating Heisenberg interaction is sufficiently …
The ground state and thermodynamics of a generalized spin-1/2 Ising-Heisenberg diamond chain with the second-neighbor interaction between nodal spins are calculated exactly using the mapping method based on the decoration-iteration transformation. Rigorous results for the magnetization, susceptibility, and heat capacity are investigated in dependence on temperature and magnetic field for the frustrated diamond spin chain with the antiferromagnetic Ising and Heisenberg interactions. It is demonstrated that the second-neighbor interaction between nodal spins gives rise to a greater diversity of …
Ground-state and finite-temperature behaviour of the mixed spin-1/2 and spin-1 Ising-Heisenberg model on decorated planar lattices consisting of inter-connected diamonds is investigated by means of the generalised decoration-iteration mapping transformation. The obtained exact results clearly point out that this model has a rather complex ground state composed of two unusual quantum phases, which is valid regardless of the lattice topology as well as the spatial dimensionality of the investigated system. It is shown that the diamond-like decorated planar lattices with a sufficiently high coord…
Recently, it has been rigorously verified that several one-dimensional (1D) spin models may exhibit a peculiar pseudo-transition accompanied with anomalous response of thermodynamic quantities in a close vicinity of pseudo-critical temperature. In the present work we will introduce and exactly solve a mixed spin-(1/2,1) Ising-Heisenberg double-tetrahedral chain in an external magnetic field as another particular example of 1D lattice-statistical model with short-range interactions that displays a pseudo-transition of this type. The investigated model exhibits at zero temperature three ferrimag…
The exactly solvable spin-1/2 Ising-Heisenberg model on diamond chain has been considered. We have found the exact results for the magnetization by using recursion relation method. The existence of the magnetization plateau has been observed at one third of the saturation magnetization in the antiferromagnetic case. Some ground-state properties of the model are examined. At low temperatures, the system has two ferrimagnetic (FRI1 and FRI2) phases and one paramagnetic (PRM) phase. Lyapunov exponents for the various values of the exchange parameters and temperatures have been analyzed. It have a…
We consider the diamond chain with S=1/2 XYZ vertical dimers which interact with the intermediate sites via the interaction of the Ising type. We also suppose all four spins form the diamond-shaped plaquette to have different g-factors. The non-uniform g-factors within the quantum spin dimer as well as the XY-anisotropy of the exchange interaction lead to the non-conserving magnetization for the chain. We analyze the effects of non-conserving magnetization as well as the effects of the appearance of negative g-factors among the spins from the unit cell. A number of unusual frustrated states fo…
We obtain monatomic glass formers in simulations by modifying the tetrahedral character in a silicon potential to explore a triple point zone between potentials favoring diamond (dc) and bcc crystals. dc crystallization is always preceded by a polyamorphic transformation of the liquid, and is frustrated when the Kauzmann temperature of the high temperature liquid intersects the liquid-liquid coexistence line. The glass forming liquids are extraordinarily fragile. Our results suggest that Si and Ge liquids may be vitrified at a pressure close to the diamond-beta-tin-liquid triple point.
The spin-1 Ising-Heisenberg diamond chain with the second-neighbor interaction between the nodal spins is rigorously solved using the transfer-matrix method. Exact results for the ground state, magnetization process and specific heat are presented and discussed in particular. It is shown that the further-neighbor interaction between the nodal spins gives rise to three novel ground states with a translationally broken symmetry, but at the same time, it does not increases the total number of intermediate plateaus in a zero-temperature magnetization curve compared with the simplified model withou…
An exactly solvable spin-electron tetrahedral chain, where the Ising spins localized at nodal lattice sites regularly alternate with three equivalent lattice sites available for one mobile electron is considered. The system with ferromagnetic interaction between the Ising spins and electrons exhibits an enhanced magnetocaloric effect (MCE) in the limit $H/|J|\to 0$ when the entropy is very small, whereas the system with antiferromagnetic interaction between the Ising spins and electrons exhibits an enhanced MCE around the field $H/J=1$ when the entropy is sufficiently close to the value $S/2N …
We discuss the origin of an enigmatic low-temperature behavior of one-dimensional decorated spin systems which was coined the pseudo-transition. Tracing out the decorated parts results in the standard Ising-chain model with temperature-dependent parameters and the unexpected low-temperature behavior of thermodynamic quantities and correlations of the decorated spin chains can be tracked down to the critical point of the standard Ising-chain model at ${\sf H}=0$ and ${\sf T}=0$. We illustrate this perspective using as examples the spin-1/2 Ising-XYZ diamond chain, the coupled spin-electron doub…
The ground state and magnetization process of the mixed spin-(1,1/2) Ising diamond chain is exactly solved by employing the generalized decoration-iteration mapping transformation and the transfer-matrix method. The decoration-iteration transformation is first used in order to establish a rigorous mapping equivalence with the corresponding spin-1 Blume-Emery-Griffiths chain in a non-zero magnetic field, which is subsequently exactly treated within the framework of the transfer-matrix technique. It is shown that the ground-state phase diagram includes just four different ground states and the l…
The ground state and thermodynamic properties of an asymmetric diamond Ising--Hubbard chain with the on-site electron-electron attraction has been considered. The problem can be solved exactly using the decoration-iteration transformation. In the case of the antiferromagnetic Ising interaction, the influence of this attraction on the ground state and the temperature dependences of the magnetization, magnetic susceptibility, and specific heat has been studied.
We study magnetoelastic properties of a spin-1/2 Ising-Heisenberg diamond chain, whose elementary unit cell consists of two decorating Heisenberg spins and one nodal Ising spin. It is assumed that each couple of the decorating atoms including the Heisenberg spins harmonically vibrates perpendicularly to the chain axis, while the nodal atoms involving the Ising spins are placed at rigid positions when ignoring their lattice vibrations. An effect of the magnetoelastic coupling on a ground state and finite-temperature properties is particularly investigated close to a triple coexistence point dep…
The magnetocaloric effect in the symmetric spin-1/2 Ising-Heisenberg diamond chain with the Ising four-spin interaction is investigated using the generalized decoration-iteration mapping transformation and the transfer-matrix technique. The entropy and the Gruneisen parameter, which closely relate to the magnetocaloric effect, are exactly calculated to compare the capability of the system to cool in the vicinity of different field-induced ground-state phase transitions during the adiabatic demagnetization.
Exact results of a mixed spin-1/2 and spin-1 Ising-Heisenberg diamond chain are obtained applying a generalized decoration-iteration transformation. Depending on the values of external field, exchange parameters and anisotropy, there exist six different phases in the ground state of the system. The magnetic order of these phases is briefly described in this work.
The spin-1/2 Ising-Heisenberg model on diamond-like decorated Bethe lattices is exactly solved with the help of decoration-iteration transformation and exact recursion relations. It is shown that the model under investigation exhibits reentrant phase transitions whenever a sufficiently high coordination number of the underlying Bethe lattice is considered.
Magnetization processes of Ising models with frustration on diamond hierarchical lattices, which contain vertices with high coordination numbers, are exactly obtained at zero temperature. In antiferromagnetic systems, the magnetization cannot saturate under finite magnetic fields owing to the competition between the antiferromagnetic and Zeeman interactions and the intrinsic long-range nature of hierarchical lattices. For the zero-field classical spin-liquid phase found in [Kobayashi et al., J. Phys. Soc. Jpn. 78, 074004 (2009)], an infinitely small applied magnetic field can induce an infinit…
Thermal first-order phase transitions, Ising critical points, and reentrance in the Ising-Heisenberg model on the diamond-decorated square lattice in a magnetic field
A symmetric spin-1/2 Ising-Heisenberg diamond chain with the Ising four-spin interaction is exactly solved by means of the generalized decoration-iteration mapping transformation. The ground state, the magnetization process and thermodynamics are particularly examined for the case of antiferromagnetic pair interactions (Ising and isotropic Heisenberg ones). It is shown that an interplay between pair interactions, the four-spin interaction and the external magnetic field gives rise to several quantum ground states with entangled spin states in addition to some semi-classically ordered ones. Bes…
Quantum entanglement is one of the most fascinating types of correlation that can be shared only among quantum systems. The Heisenberg chain is one of the simplest quantum chains which exhibits a reach entanglement feature, due to the Heisenberg interaction is quantum coupling in the spin system. The two particles were coupled trough XYZ coupling or simply called as two-qubit XYZ spin, which are the responsible for the emergence of thermal entanglement. These two-qubit operators are bonded to two nodal Ising spins, and this process is repeated infinitely resulting in a diamond chain structure.…
A coupled spin-electron diamond chain with localized Ising spins placed on its nodal sites and mobile electrons delocalized over interstitial sites is explored in a magnetic field taking into account the difference between Landé g-factors of the localized spins and mobile electrons. The ground-state phase diagram is constituted by two classical ferrimagnetic phases, the quantum unsaturated paramagnetic phase and the saturated paramagnetic phase. Both classical ferrimagnetic phases as well as the unsaturated paramagnetic phase are reflected in a low-temperature magnetization curve as intermedia…
Quantum spin-1/2 antiferromagnetic Heisenberg trimerized chain with strong intradimer and weak monomer-dimer coupling constants is studied using the novel many-body perturbation expansion, which is developed from the exactly solved spin-1/2 Ising-Heisenberg diamond chain preserving correlations between all interacting spins of the trimerized chain unlike the standard perturbation scheme developed on the grounds of noninteracting spin monomers and dimers. The Heisenberg trimerized chain shows the intermediate one-third plateau, which was also observed in the magnetization curve of the polymeric…
We examine thermal quantum correlations characterized by Measurement-Induced Nonlocality (MIN) in an infinite spin-1/2 Ising-Heisenberg spin chain with Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) interaction. We evaluate MIN analytically in the thermodynamic limit using the transfer matrix approach and show that the MIN and its first-order derivative may spotlight the quantum criticality and quantum phase transition (QPT). We observe that the DM interaction reduces the role of anisotropy parameter in initiating QPT. Further, the DM interaction also induces the nonlocality in the system if the spins are unentan…
Ground-state and finite-temperature properties of the mixed spin-1/2 and spin-S Ising-Heisenberg diamond chains are examined within an exact analytical approach based on the generalized decoration-iteration map. A particular emphasis is laid on the investigation of the effect of geometric frustration, which is generated by the competition between Heisenberg- and Ising-type exchange interactions. It is found that an interplay between the geometric frustration and quantum effects gives rise to several quantum ground states with entangled spin states in addition to some semi-classically ordered o…
One-dimensional systems with short-range interactions cannot exhibit a long-range order at nonzero temperature. However, there are some particular one-dimensional models, such as the Ising-Heisenberg spin models with a variety of lattice geometries, which exhibit unexpected behavior similar to the discontinuous or continuous temperature-driven phase transition. Although these pseudo-transitions are not true temperature-driven transitions showing only abrupt changes or sharp peaks in thermodynamic quantities, they may be confused while interpreting experimental data. Here we consider the spin-$…
The geometric frustration in a class of the mixed spin-1/2 and spin-S Ising-Heisenberg diamond chains is investigated by combining three exact analytical techniques: Kambe projection method, decoration-iteration transformation and transfer-matrix method. The ground state, the magnetization process and the specific heat as a function of the external magnetic field are particularly examined for different strengths of the geometric frustration. It is shown that the increase of the Heisenberg spin value S raises the number of intermediate magnetization plateaux, which emerge in magnetization curve…
An exactly solvable variant of mixed spin-(1/2,1) Ising-Heisenberg diamond chain is considered. Vertical spin-1 dimers are taken as quantum ones with Heisenberg bilinear and biquadratic interactions and with single-ion anisotropy, while all interactions between spin-1 and spin-1/2 residing on the intermediate sites are taken in the Ising form. The detailed analysis of the $T=0$ ground state phase diagram is presented. The phase diagrams have shown to be rather rich, demonstrating large variety of ground states: saturated one, three ferrimagnetic with magnetization equal to 3/5 and another four…
Recently has been observed for some one-dimensional models that exhibit unexpected pseudo-transitions and quasi-phases. This pseudo-transition resembles a first- and second-order phase transition simultaneously. One of those models is the spin-1/2 Ising-XYZ diamond chain, composed of Ising spin particles at the nodal sites and the Heisenberg spin particles at the interstitial sites. Where we assume Ising-type interaction between the nodal and interstitial sites, the Heisenberg-type interaction between interstitial sites, and with an external magnetic field applied along the z-axis. This model …
We write exact renormalization-group recursion relations for a ferromagnetic Ising model on the diamond hierarchical lattice with an aperiodic distribution of exchange interactions according to a class of generalized two-letter Fibonacci sequences. For small geometric fluctuations, the critical behavior is unchanged with respect to the uniform case. For large fluctuations, the uniform fixed point in the parameter space becomes fully unstable. We analyze some limiting cases, and propose a heuristic criterion to check the relevance of the fluctuations.
We consider the Ising spin system, which stems out from the corresponding Multiple-spin exchange (MSE) Hamiltonian, on the special one--dimensional lattice, diamond-plaquette chain. Using the technique e of transfer-matrix we obtain the exact expression for system free energy with the aid of which we obtain the magnetization function. Analyzing magnetization curves for varies values of temperature and couplin constants we found the magnetization plateaux at 1/3 and 2/3 of the full moment. The corresponding microscopic spin configurations are unknown by virtue of high frustration.
We discuss the anisotropies of the Hamiltonian and the wave-function in an $S=1/2$ distorted diamond chain. The ground-state phase diagram of this model is investigated using the degenerate perturbation theory up to the first order and the level spectroscopy analysis of the numerical diagonalization data. In some regions of the obtained phase diagram, the anisotropy of the Hamiltonian and that of the wave-function are inverted, which we call inversion phenomenon; the Néel phase appears for the XY-like anisotropy and the spin-fluid phase appears for the Ising-like anisotropy. Three key words ar…
We investigate the ground-sate phase diagram of the XXZ version of the S=1/2 distorted diamond chain by use of the degenerate perturbation theory near the truncation point. In case of the XY-like interaction anisotropy, the phase diagram consists of the Neel phase and the spin-fluid phase. For the Ising-like interaction anisotropy case, it consists of three phases: the ferrimagnetic phase, the Neel phase and the spin-fluid phase. The magnetization in the ferrimagnetic phase is 1/3 of the saturation magnetization. The remarkable nature of the phase diagram is the existence of the Neel phase, al…
The spin-1/2 Ising-Heisenberg model on diamond-like decorated Bethe lattices is exactly solved in the presence of the longitudinal magnetic field by combining the decoration-iteration mapping transformation with the method of exact recursion relations. In particular, the ground state and low-temperature magnetization process of the ferrimagnetic version of the considered model is investigated in detail. Three different magnetization scenarios with up to two consecutive fractional magnetization plateaus were found, whereas the intermediate magnetization plateau may either correspond to the clas…
A general technique of exact calculation of any correlation functions for the special class of one-dimensional spin models containing small clusters of quantum spins assembled to a chain by alternating with the single Ising spins is proposed. The technique is a natural generalization of that in the models solved by a classical transfer matrix. The general expressions for corresponding matrix operators which are the key components of the technique are obtained. As it is clear from the general principles, the decay of the correlation functions of various types is explicitly shown to be governed …
In this paper, the phase diagrams and the critical behavior of the spin-1/2 anisotropic XXZ ferromagnetic model (the anisotropic parameter Δ\in(-\infty,1]) on two kinds of diamond-type hierarchical (DH) lattices with fractal dimensions d_{f}=2.58 and 3, respectively, are studied via the real-space renormalization group method. It is found that in the isotropic Heisenberg limit (Δ=0), there exist finite temperature phase transitions for the two kinds of DH lattices above. The systems are also investigated in the range of -\infty<Δ<0 and it is found that they exhibit XY-like fixed points. Meanwh…
The spin-1/2 Ising-Heisenberg two-leg ladder accounting for alternating Ising and Heisenberg inter-leg couplings in addition to the Ising intra-leg coupling is rigorously mapped onto to a mixed spin-(3/2,1/2) Ising-Heisenberg diamond chain with the nodal Ising spins $S=3/2$ and the interstitial spin-1/2 Heisenberg dimers. The latter effective model with higher-order interactions between the nodal and interstitial spins is subsequently exactly solved within the transfer-matrix method. The model under investigation exhibits five different ground states: ferromagnetic, antiferromagnetic, superant…
Quasicritical exponents of one-dimensional models displaying a quasitransition at finite temperatures are examined in detail. The quasitransition is characterized by intense sharp peaks in physical quantities such as specific heat and magnetic susceptibility, which are reminiscent of divergences accompanying a continuous (second-order) phase transition. The question whether these robust finite peaks follow some power law around the quasicritical temperature is addressed. Although there is no actual divergence of these quantities at a quasicritical temperature, a power-law behavior fits precise…
