It takes as a reference the version 2.8.2 released in October 2019, and also takes into account the development until version 2.8.3 to be released in February 2020.
We review the current status of the WHIZARD event generator. We discuss, in particular, recent improvements and features that are relevant for simulating the physics program at a future Linear Collider.
This is a status report of the WHIZARD Monte Carlo multi-purpose event generator given at the LCFORUM 2012 at DESY. I review here the development of the WHIZARD generator version 2 with a special emphasis on linear collider physics. In case you use the program, please do cite the official reference(s).
We briefly describe how the Monte Carlo generator WHIZARD 2.2 can be employed to study large QCD effects enhancing the top-antitop production threshold at a next-generation lepton collider. While present state-of-the-art predictions at NNLL order are confined to inclusive total cross sections, our tool can be used to simulate differential distributions including NLL threshold resummation in the production, and with off-shell decaying tops. The new model will be shipped with WHIZARD from version 2.2.3 onwards, to be released along with this article.
I describe the optimizing matrix element generator O'Mega and Wolfgang Kilian's event generator generator WHIZARD. These tools cooperate in the automated production of efficient unweighted event generators for linear collider physics.
In this talk we summarize the top physics setup in the event generator WHIZARD with a main focus on lepton colliders. This includes full six-, eight- and ten-fermion processes, factorized processes and spin correlations. For lepton colliders, QCD NLO processes for top quark physics are available and will be discussed. A special focus is on the top-quark pair threshold, where a special implementation combines a non-relativistic effective field theory calculation augmented by a next-to-leading threshold logarithm resummation with a continuum relativistic fixed-order QCD NLO simulation.
We describe recent additions to the WHIZARD 2 Monte-Carlo event generator which improve the physics description of lepton-collider event samples and speed up the calculation time required for cross sections and event generation.
This article summarizes the talk given at the LCWS 2021 conference on the status and news of the WHIZARD Monte Carlo event generator. We presented its features relevant for the physics program of future lepton and especially linear colliders as well as recent developments towards including NLO perturbative corrections and a UFO interface to study models beyond the Standard Model. It takes as reference the version 3.0.0$β$ released in August 2020 and additionally discusses the developments that will be included in the next major version 3.0.0 to be released in April 2021.
We describe the multi-purpose Monte-Carlo event generator WHIZARD for the simulation of high-energy particle physics experiments. Besides the presentation of the general features of the program like SM physics, BSM physics, and QCD effects, special emphasis will be given to the support of the most accurate simulation of the collider environments at hadron colliders and especially at future linear lepton colliders. On the more technical side, the very recent code refactoring towards a completely object-oriented software package to improve maintainability, flexibility and code development will b…
We briefly discuss the current status of NLO QCD automation in the Monte Carlo event generator WHIZARD. The functionality is presented for the explicit study of off-shell top quark production with associated backgrounds at a lepton collider.
We describe a new parallel approach to the evaluation of phase space for Monte-Carlo event generation, implemented within the framework of the WHIZARD package. The program realizes a twofold self-adaptive multi-channel parameterization of phase space and makes use of the standard OpenMP and MPI protocols for parallelization. The modern MPI3 feature of asynchronous communication is an essential ingredient of the computing model. Parallel numerical evaluation applies both to phase-space integration and to event generation, thus covering the most computing-intensive parts of physics simulation fo…
The aim of this thesis is the completion of the NLO automated framework of the MC program WHIZARD, accounting for NLO corrections in the full SM for cross sections and distributions of processes at hadron and lepton colliders. Specifically, it builds on the implemented FKS subtraction scheme for NLO QCD calculations, and extends it to automated NLO EW and QCD-EW mixed corrections. To that end, the implemented FKS scheme is generalised to systematically subtract QED and QCD infrared (IR) divergences in mixed coupling expansions. The automated computation of NLO contributions is validated for a …
We present predictions for $t \bar t$ and $t \bar t H$ production and decay at future lepton colliders including non-resonant and interference contributions up to next-to-leading order (NLO) in perturbative QCD. The obtained precision predictions are necessary for a future precise determination of the top-quark Yukawa coupling, and allow for top-quark phenomenology in the continuum at an unprecedented level of accuracy. Simulations are performed with the automated NLO Monte-Carlo framework WHIZARD interfaced to the OpenLoops matrix element generator.
Neutrinos are among the most mysterious particles in nature. Their mass hierarchy and oscillations, as well as their antiparticle properties, are being intensively studied in experiments around the world. Moreover, in many models of physics beyond the Standard Model, the baryon asymmetry or the dark matter density in the Universe are explained by introducing new species of neutrinos. Among others, heavy neutrinos of Dirac or Majorana nature were proposed to solve open questions in High Energy Physics. Such neutrinos with masses above the EW scale could be produced at future linear e$^+$e$^-$ c…
Experiments at particle colliders have reached center of mass energies well above 100 GeV, equivalent to temperatures which existed shortly after the big bang. These experiments, testing the initial conditions of the universe have, with great precision, established the Standard Model of Particle Physics. In contrast, the existence of the Higgs boson and perhaps Supersymmetry remain speculative, as todays searches have failed to find signs of their existence. However, the next generation of high energy collider experiments and especially CERN's 14 TeV LHC, expected to start operation in the yea…
The standard model of particle physics is an extremely successful theory of fundamental interactions, but it has many known limitations. It is therefore widely believed to be an effective field theory that describes interactions near the TeV scale. A plethora of strategies exist to extend the standard model, many of which contain predictions of new particles or dynamics that could manifest in proton-proton collisions at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). As of now, none have been observed, and much of the available phase space for natural solutions to outstanding problems is excluded. If new phy…
This paper presents the latest development at CERN, concentrating on the status of the LHC and the strategy for future linear colliders. The immediate plans include the exploitation of the LHC at its design luminosity and energy as well as upgrades to the LHC (luminosity and energy) and to its injectors. This may be complemented by a linear electron-positron collider, based on the technology being developed by the Compact Linear Collider and by the International Linear Collider and/or by a high-energy electron-proton collider. This contribution describes the various future directions, all of w…

The document is prepared for the LCWS2016 conference proceedings. The expected status of Higgs physics at the end of Run-3 is presented. The current Run-2 status is briefly reviewed, and the expected Higgs reach after the HL-LHC period is also summarized for some channels.
During the 1990s an international collaboration has been studying the possibility of constructing and operating a high-energy high-luminosity $μ^+μ^-$ collider. Such a machine could be the approach of choice to extend our discovery reach beyond that of the LHC. More recently, a growing collaboration is exploring the potential of a stored-muon-beam "neutrino factory" to elucidate neutrino oscillations. A neutrino factory could be an attractive stepping-stone to a muon collider. Its construction, possibly feasible within the coming decade, could have substantial impact on neutrino physics.
This report on Photon Colliders briefly reviews three main issues: physics motivation, possible parameters and technical feasibility, plans of works and international cooperation. New scheme of laser optics at the interaction region is described which can drastically (at least by one order) reduce the cost of the laser system.

For the envisioned precision measurement of the W-boson mass at present and future lepton and hadron colliders it is crucial that the theoretical predictions for the underlying production processes are well under control. We briefly describe the status of the predictions for the W-pair-production processes at e+ e- colliders, e+ e- -> W+ W- -> 4f, and for W- and Z-boson production at pp and p anti-p colliders, pp, p anti-p -> W -> l nu_l and pp, p anti-p -> Z,gamma -> l+ l- (l=e,mu). We also discuss the theoretical improvements needed to meet the experimental accuracies one hopes to achieve in…
I review the present status of the automatic NLO tools MadLoop and aMC@NLO by presenting, as an example of their use, phenomenological studies of hadron collider processes. Perspectives on applications to linear collider Physics are also discussed
The status of the Standard Model (SM) is reviewed. We emphazize the fact that in spite of the success of the SM for the descrition of the fermionic sector, the status of the bosonic sector (gauge and scalar) suffers from many theoretical deficiencies and from the lack of empirical support. This situation, which leaves room for several types of extensions or alternatives to SM, strongly motivates the pursue of intense efforts for finding hints of New Physics (NP) effects. We present a phenomenological description valid for energies lying below the NP scale. We discuss the indirect constraints e…
We discuss the current status and future prospects of heavy neutrino searches at the energy frontier, which might play an important role in vindicating the simplest seesaw paradigm as the new physics responsible for neutrino mass generation. After summarizing the current search limits and potential improvements at hadron colliders, we highlight the unparalleled sensitivities achievable in the clean environment of future lepton colliders.
The experimental measurements on flavour physics, in tension with Standard Model predictions, exhibit large sources of Lepton Flavour Universality violation. This note summarises an analysis of the effects of the global fits to the Wilson coefficients assuming a model independent effective Hamiltonian approach, by including a proposal of different scenarios to include the New Physics contributions. Additionally, we include an overview of the impact of the future generation of colliders in the field of B-meson anomalies.
I review the status of today's theoretical description of Standard Model processes relevant for Tevatron and LHC analyses, and of the tools that are used in phenomenological studies. I will also discuss a few recent ideas to further refine our abilities to perform technically challenging calculations.

The document discusses the theoretical status, including state-of-the-art predictions for di-Higgs cross sections, developments on the effective field theory approach, and studies on specific new physics scenarios that can show up in the di-Higgs final state. The status of di-Higgs searches and the direct and indirect constraints on the Higgs s…

The present paper considers the photon collider at the ILC: possible parameters, technical problems and present status.
We review the status of searches for Supersymmetry at the Tevatron Collider. After discussing the theoretical aspects relevant to the production and decay of supersymmetric particles at the Tevatron, we present the current results for Runs Ia and Ib as of the summer of 1997. To appear in the book "Perspectives in Supersymmetry", edited by G.L. Kane, World Scientific.
We present an update of the theoretical predictions for the cross section of top-quark pair production at Tevatron and LHC. In particular we employ improvements due to soft gluon resummation at next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy. We expand the resummed results and derive analytical finite-order cross sections through next-to-next-to-leading order which are exact in all logarithmically enhanced terms near threshold. These results are the best present estimates for the top-quark pair production cross section. We investigate the scale dependence as well as the sensitivity on the parton …
After a five year upgrade period, the CDF detector located at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider is back in operation taking high quality data with all subsystems functional. We report on the status of the CDF experiment in Run II and discuss the start-up of the Tevatron accelerator. First physics results from CDF are presented. We also discuss the prospects for B physics in Run II, in particular the measurements of Bs flavour oscillations and CP violation in B decays.
We present an overview of the present status and prospects for progress in electroweak measurements at future collider experiments leading to precision tests of the Standard Model of Electroweak Interactions. Special attention is paid to the measurement of the W mass, the effective weak mixing angle, and the determination of the top quark mass. Their constraints on the Higgs boson mass are discussed.
This brief review covers recent results on searches for dark matter in collider experiments, as well as from direct and indirect detection observatories. It focuses on generic searches for dark matter signatures at the LHC, e.g. mono-X, dijets, etc. Recently observed astrophysical signals that may provide hints of dark matter are also discussed.
Insight into the electroweak (EW) and Higgs sectors can be achieved through measurements of vector boson scattering (VBS) processes. The scattering of EW bosons are rare processes that are precisely predicted in the Standard Model (SM) and are closely related to the Higgs mechanism. Modifications to VBS processes are also predicted in models of physics beyond the SM (BSM), for example through changes to the Higgs boson couplings to gauge bosons and the resonant production of new particles. In this review, experimental results and theoretical developments of VBS at the Large Hadron Collider, it…
We provide an updated scan of the allowed parameter space of the two-loop Zee-Babu model for neutrino mass. Taking into account most recent experimental data on $μ\to eγ$ as well as the mixing angle $θ_{13}$ we obtain lower bounds on the masses of the singly and doubly charged scalars of between 1 to 2 TeV, with some dependence on perturbativity and fine-tuning requirements. This makes the scalars difficult to observe at LHC with 14 TeV even with optimistic assumptions on the luminosity, and would require a multi-TeV linear collider to see the scalar resonances. We point out, however, that a s…
The theoretical predictions in the MSSM for Higgs-boson production at a future e^+e^- Linear Collider and Higgs-boson decay processes are discussed focusing in particular on recent diagrammatic two-loop results in the MSSM Higgs sector. The present status of the theoretical predictions is briefly summarized, and it is emphasized that considerable improvements will be necessary in order to match the high experimental accuracy achievable at a future Linear Collider.
We give an outline of the anticipated physics program for a future electron ion collider. The status and prospects for construction of such a device are discussed.

In this article, we briefly review the recent progress related to extracting the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) specific shear viscosity from the flow data measured at Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider (RHIC) and the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).
We study limits from dilepton searches on leptoquark completions to the Standard Model in the parameter space motivated by anomalies in the $b \rightarrow s$ sector. After a full Run-2 analysis by LHCb, the disparity in lepton flavour violation has disappeared. However, the mismatch in angular distributions as well as in $B_s \rightarrow μ^+ μ^-$ partial width is still unresolved and still implies a possible new physics contribution. We probe three models of leptoquarks -- scalar models $S_3$ and $R_2$ as well as vector leptoquark model $U_1$ using non-resonant dilepton searches to place limit…
