Schwarzschild black holes in a de Sitter background were studied in terms of their thermodynamics based on the Rényi statistics. This led to thermodynamically stable black hole configurations for some certain range of black hole radii; namely within this range the corresponding black holes have positive heat capacity. Moreover, for a certain background temperature there can exist at most three configurations of black hole; one among which is thermodynamically stable. These configurations were investigated in terms of their free energies, resulting in the moderate-sized stable black hole configuration being the most preferred configuration. Furthermore, a specific condition on the Rényi non-extensive parameter is required if a given hot spacetime were to evolve thermally into the moderate-sized stable black hole.
The conformal field equations are used to discuss the local existence of spherically symmetric solutions to the Einstein-Yang-Mills system which behave asymptotically like the anti-de Sitter spacetime. By using a gauge based on conformally privileged curves we obtain a formulation of the problem in terms of an initial boundary value problem on which a general class of maximally dissipative boundary conditions can be discussed. The relation between these boundary conditions and the notion of mass on asymptotically anti-de Sitter spacetimes is analysed.
In this study we obtain the solution of the spherically symmetric de Sitter solution of black holes using a general form of distribution functions which include Gaussian, Rayleigh, and Maxwell-Boltzmann distribution as a special case. We investigate the properties of thermodynamics variables such as the Hawking temperature, the entropy, the mass and the heat capacity of black holes. Moreover, we show that the strong energy condition which includes the null energy condition is satisfied. Finally, we show the regularity of the solution by calculating the scalar curvature and invariant curvature …
The requirements are formulated which lead to the existence of the class of globally regular solutions to the minimally coupled GR equations which are asymptotically de Sitter at the center. The brief review of the resulting geometry is presented. The source term, invariant under radial boots, is classified as spherically symmetric vacuum with variable density and pressure, associated with an r-dependent cosmological term, whose asymptotic in the origin, dictated by the weak energy condition, is the Einstein cosmological term. For this class of metrics the ADM mass is related to both de Sitter…
An analysis of conformal geodesics in the Schwarzschild-de Sitter and Schwarzschild-anti de Sitter families of spacetimes is given. For both families of spacetimes we show that initial data on a spacelike hypersurface can be given such that the congruence of conformal geodesics arising from this data cover the whole maximal extension of canonical conformal representations of the spacetimes without forming caustic points. For the Schwarzschild-de Sitter family, the resulting congruence can be used to obtain global conformal Gaussian systems of coordinates of the conformal representation. In the…
We investigate the dynamical behavior of a scalar field non-minimally coupled to Einstein's tensor and Ricci scalar in geometries of asymptotically de Sitter spacetimes. We show that the quasinormal modes remain unaffected if the scalar field is massless and the black hole is electrically chargeless. In the massive case, the coupling of both parameters produces a region of instability in the spacetime determined by the geometry and field parameters. In the Schwarzschild case, every solution for the equations of motion with $\ell>0$ has a range of values of the coupling constant that produces u…
We study the greybody factors of the scalar fields in spherically symmetric Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet-de Sitter black holes in higher dimensions. We derive the greybody factors analytically for both minimally and non-minimally coupled scalar fields. Moreover, we discuss the dependence of the greybody factor on various parameters including the angular momentum number, the non-minimally coupling constant, the spacetime dimension, the cosmological constant and the Gauss-Bonnet coefficient in detail. We find that the non-minimal coupling may suppress the Hawking radiation, while the Gauss-Bonnet coupl…
We consider an Einstein-Yang-Mills Lagrangian in a five dimensional space-time including a cosmological constant. Assuming all fields to be independent of the extra coordinate, a dimensional reduction leads to an effective (3+1)-dimensional Einstein-Yang-Mills-Higgs-dilaton model where the cosmological constant induces a Liouville potential in the dilaton field. We construct spherically symmetric solutions analytically in specific limits and study the generic solutions for vanishing dilaton coupling numerically. We find that in this latter case the solutions bifurcate with the branch of (Anti-…
Birkhoff's theorem is a classic result that characterizes locally spherically symmetric solutions of the Einstein equations. In this paper, we illustrate the consequences of its local nature for the cases of vacuum and positive cosmological constant. We construct several examples of initial data for spherically symmetric spacetimes on Cauchy surfaces of different topology than that of the maximal analytic extension of Schwarzschild and Schwarzschild-de Sitter spacetimes. The spacetimes formed from the evolution of these initial data sets also have very different physical properties; in particu…
A short review on spherically symmetric static regular black holes and spherically symmetric non singular cosmological space-time is presented. Several models of regular black holes, including new ones, are considered. First, a large class of regular black holes having an inner de Sitter core with the related issue of Cauchy horizon is investigated. Then, black bounce space-times, where the Cauchy horizon and therefore the related instabilities are absent, are discussed as valid alternatives of regular black holes with inner de Sitter core. Friedman-Lemaitre-Robertson-Walker space-times admitt…
We show that it is possible to embed the 1+1 dimensional reduction of certain spherically symmetric black hole spacetimes into 2+1 Minkowski space. The spacetimes of interest (Schwarzschild de-Sitter, Schwarzschild anti de-Sitter, and Reissner-Nordstrom near the outer horizon) represent a class of metrics whose geometries allow for such embeddings. The embedding diagrams have a dynamic character which allows one to represent the motion of test particles. We also analyze various features of the embedding construction, deriving the general conditions under which our procedure provides a smooth e…
We present a technique for obtaining spherically symmetric, asymptotically (anti)-de Sitter, black hole solutions of dilaton gravity with generic coupling to a Maxwell field, starting from exact asymptotically flat solutions and adding a suitable dilaton potential to the action.
We outline the class of globally regular spherically symmetric solutions to the minimally coupled GR equations asymptotically de Sitter in the origin and asymptotically Schwarzschild at infinity. A source term connects smoothly de Sitter vacuum at the regular center with Minkowski vacuum at infinity and corresponds to anisotropic spherically symmetric vacuum defined macroscopically by the algebraic structure of its stress-energy tensor invariant under boosts in the radial direction. De Sitter-Schwarzschild geometry describes a vacuum nonsingular black hole which evolves, in the course of Hawki…
We present new soliton and hairy black hole solutions of Einstein-non-Abelian-Proca theory in asymptotically anti-de Sitter space-time with gauge group ${\mathfrak {su}}(2)$. For static, spherically symmetric configurations, we show that the gauge field must be purely magnetic, and solve the resulting field equations numerically. The equilibrium gauge field is described by a single function $ω(r)$, which must have at least one zero. The solitons and hairy black holes share many properties with the corresponding solutions in asymptotically flat space-time. In particular, all the solutions we st…
In this paper we study the Hawking evaporation of masses of variable-charged Reissner-Nordstrom and Kerr-Newman, black holes embedded into the de Sitter universe by considering the charge to be function of radial coordinate of the spherically symmetric metric.
In a recent paper Cañate (CQG, {\bf 35}, 025018 (2018)) proved a no hair theorem to static and spherically symmetric or stationary axisymmetric black holes in general $f(R)$ gravity. The theorem applies for isolated asymptotically flat or asymptotically de Sitter black holes and also in the case when vacuum is replaced by a minimally coupled source having a traceless energy momentum tensor. This theorem excludes the case of pure quadratic gravity, $f(R) = R^2$. In this paper we use the scalar tensor representation of general $f(R)$ theory to show that there are no hairy black hole in pure $R^2…
Static coordinates can be convenient to solve the vacuum Einstein's equations in presence of spherical symmetry, but for cosmological applications comoving coordinates are more suitable to describe an expanding Universe, especially in the framework of cosmological perturbation theory (CPT). Using CPT we develop a method to transform static spherically symmetric (SSS) modifications of the de Sitter solution from static coordinates to the Newton gauge. We test the method with the Schwarzschild de Sitter (SDS) metric and then derive general expressions for the Bardeen's potentials for a class of …
We study the quantum theory of the Einstein-Maxwell action with a cosmological term in the spherically symmetric space-time, and explored quantum black hole solutions in Reissner-Nordstrom-de Sitter geometry. We succeeded to obtain analytic solutions to satisfy both the energy and momentum constraints.
We present a new hybrid Cauchy-characteristic evolution method that is particularly suited for the study of gravitational collapse in spherically-symmetric asymptotically (global) Anti-de Sitter (AdS) spacetimes. The Cauchy evolution allows us to track the scalar field through the different bounces off the AdS boundary while the characteristic method can bring us very close to the point of formation of an apparent horizon. Here, we describe all the details of the method, including the transition between the two evolution schemes and the details of the numerical implementation for the case of m…
We investigate the occurrence of naked singularities in the spherically symmetric, plane symmetric and cylindrically symmetric collapse of charged null fluid in an anti-de Sitter background. The naked singularities are found to be strong in Tipler's sense and thus violate the cosmic censorship conjecture, but not hoop conjecture.
In this work we investigate analytic static and spherically symmetric solutions of a generalized theory of gravity in the Einstein-Cartan formalism. The main goal consists in analyzing the behavior of the solutions under the influence of a quadratic curvature term in the presence of cosmological constant and no torsion. In the first incursion we found an exact de Sitter-like solution. This solution is obtained by imposing vanishing torsion in the field equations. On the other hand, by imposing vanishing torsion directly in the action, we are able to find a perturbative solution around the Schw…
In the paper, the temperature associated with a dynamical spherically symmetric black hole or with a cosmological horizon is investigated from the point of view of a point-like detector. First, we briefly review the Hamilton-Jacobi tunneling method for a generic dynamical spherically symmetric space-time, and present two applications of the tunneling method. Then, we apply a well-known relativistic quantum theoretical technique, namely the Unruh-DeWitt detector formalism for a conformally coupled scalar field in a generic FRW space-time. As an application, for the generic static black hole cas…
We derive the global properties of static spherically symmetric solutions to the Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton system in the presence of an arbitrary exponential dilaton potential. We show that -- with the exception of a pure cosmological constant `potential' -- no asymptotically flat, asymptotically de Sitter or asymptotically anti-de Sitter solutions exist in these models.
For a general spherically four--dimensional metric the notion of "circularity" of a family of equatorial geodesic trajectories is defined in geometrical terms. The main object turns out to be the angular--momentum function $J$ obeying a consistency condition involving the mean extrinsic curvature of the submanifold containing the geodesics. The ana\-ly\-sis of linear stability is reduced to a simple dynamical system formally describing a damped harmonic oscillator. For static metrics the existence of such geodesics is given when $J^2 > 0$, and $(J^2)' > 0$ for stability. The formalism is then …
We investigate static and spherically symmetric solutions in the Minimal Theory of Bigravity (MTBG). First, we show that a pair of Schwarzschild-de Sitter spacetimes with different cosmological constants and black hole masses written in the spatially-flat Gullstrand-Painlevé (GP) coordinates is a solution in the self-accelerating branch of MTBG, while it cannot be a solution in the normal branch. We then illustrate how Schwarzschild-de Sitter solutions can become compatible with the normal branch when using different coordinates. We also confirm that the self-accelerating branch of MTBG admits…
We study the dynamics of a spherically symmetric dust shell separating two spacetime domains, the 'interior' one being a part of the de Sitter spacetime and the exterior one having the 'extremal' Reissner-Nordstroem geometry. Extending the ideas of previous works on the subject, we show that the it is possible to determine the (metastable) WKB quantum states of this gravitational system.
We discuss spherically symmetric, static solutions to the SU(2) sigma model on a de Sitter background. Despite of its simplicity this model reflects many of the features exhibited by systems of non-linear matter coupled to gravity e.g. there exists a countable set of regular solutions with finite energy; all of the solutions show linear instability with the number of unstable modes increasing with energy.
We find the most general spherically symmetric non singular black hole solution in a special class of teleparallel theory of gravitation. If $r$ is large enough, the general solution coincides with the Schwarzschild solution. Whereas, if $r$ is small, the general solution behaves in a manner similar to that of de Sitter solution. Otherwise it describes a spherically symmetric black hole singularity free everywhere. Moreover, the energy associated with the general solution is calculated using the superpotential given by Møller 1978.
Numerical arguments are presented for the existence of spherically symmetric regular and black hole solutions of the EYMH equations with a negative cosmological constant. These solutions approach asymptotically the anti-de Sitter spacetime. The main properties of the solutions and the differences with respect to the asymptotically flat case are discussed. The instability of the gravitating sphaleron solutions is also proven.
We investigate the existence of black hole and soliton solutions to four dimensional, anti-de Sitter (adS), Einstein-Yang-Mills theories with general semisimple connected and simply connected gauge groups, concentrating on the so-called "regular" case. We here generalise results for the asymptotically flat case, and compare our system with similar results from the well-researched adS $\mathfrak{su}(N)$ system. We find the analysis differs from the asymptotically flat case in some important ways: the biggest difference is that for $Λ<0$, solutions are much less constrained as $r\rightarrow\inft…
We consider a quantum field which is in a Hartle-Hawking state propagating in a spherically symmetric black hole space-time. We calculate the components of the stress tensor, renormalized using the Hadamard form of the Green's function, in the exterior region of this space-time. We then specialize these results to the case of the `lukewarm' Riessner-Nordstrom-de Sitter black hole.
While Hod's conjecture is demonstrably restrictive, the link he observed between black hole (BH) area quantisation and the large overtone ($n$) limit of quasinormal frequencies (QNFs) motivated intense scrutiny of the regime, from which an improved understanding of asymptotic quasinormal frequencies (aQNFs) emerged. A further outcome was the development of the "monodromy technique", which exploits an anti-Stokes line analysis to extract physical solutions from the complex plane. Here, we use the monodromy technique to validate extant aQNF expressions for perturbations of integer spin, and prov…
General relativity can be formulated equivalently with a non-Riemannian geometry that associates with an affine connection of nonzero nonmetricity $Q$ but vanishing curvature $R$ and torsion $T$. Modification based on this description of gravity generates the $f(Q)$ gravity. In this work we explore the application of $f(Q)$ gravity to the spherically symmetric configurations. We discuss the gauge fixing and connections in this setting. We demonstrate the effects of $f(Q)$ by considering the external and internal solutions of compact stars. The external background solutions for any regular form…
We investigate the motion of a test particle in a d-dimensional, spherically symmetric and static space-time supported by a mass $M$ plus a $Λ$-term. The motion is strongly dependent on the sign of $Λ$. In Schwarzschild-de Sitter (SdS) space-time ($Λ> 0$), besides the physical singularity at $r=0$ there are cases with two horizons and two turning points, one horizon and one turning point and the complete absence of horizon and turning points. For Schwarzschild-Anti de Sitter (SAdS) space-time ($Λ< 0$) the horizon coordinate is associated to a unique turning point.
We present new spherically symmetric, dyonic soliton and black hole solutions of the ${\mathfrak {su}}(N)$ Einstein-Yang-Mills equations in four-dimensional asymptotically anti-de Sitter space-time. The gauge field has nontrivial electric and magnetic components and is described by $N-1$ magnetic gauge field functions and $N-1$ electric gauge field functions. We explore the phase space of solutions in detail for ${\mathfrak {su}}(2)$ and ${\mathfrak {su}}(3)$ gauge groups. Combinations of the electric gauge field functions are monotonic and have no zeros; in general the magnetic gauge field fu…
We study the dynamics of charged, spherically symmetric dust shells in the presence of a positive cosmological constant. We find generalizations of the well-known solutions in asymptotically flat spacetime, in particular orbits into "parallel universes", but also new solutions corresponding to a "bounce" of the shell before an event horizon has formed. We also discuss "bubble" solutions, in which a charged shell and an oppositely charged singularity are spontaneously created and annihilated.
Previous works on black hole shadows have been primarily focused on studying shadows in asymptotically flat and anti-de Sitter space times. In the present work, we find general expressions for asymptotically de Sitter black hole shadow as seen by static and comoving observers, for any spherically symmetric black hole solution, in any space time dimension in generic theories of gravity. As test cases, we use the derived general expressions to study the shadow of three different black hole solutions: the four dimensional Reissner-Nordström de Sitter black hole, the recently proposed four dimensi…
Einstein's field equations with cosmological constant are analysed for a static, spherically symmetric perfect fluid having constant density. Five new global solutions are described. One of these solutions has the Nariai solution joined on as an exterior field. Another solution describes a decreasing pressure model with exterior Schwarzschild-de Sitter spacetime having decreasing group orbits at the boundary. Two further types generalise the Einstein static universe. The other new solution is unphysical, it is an increasing pressure model with a geometric singularity.
Recently, Bañados, Teitelboim and Zanelli obtained spherically symmetric black hole solutions in a particular class of Einstein--Lovelock gravity. We derive the propagator in an exact form for a conformal scalar field in the asymptotically anti-de Sitter black hole spacetime so as to study the quantum effects of the scalar fields. We treat the cases in odd dimensions in this paper. We calculate the vacuum expectation value of $\langleφ^2\rangle$ and show its dependence on the radial coordinate for the five-dimensional case as an example.
The Einstein-conformally coupled scalar field system is studied in the presence of a cosmological constant. We consider a massless or massive scalar field with no additional self-interaction, and spherically symmetric black hole geometries. When the cosmological constant is positive, no scalar hair can exist and the only solution is the Schwarzschild-de Sitter black hole. When the cosmological constant is negative, stable scalar field hair exists provided the mass of the scalar field is not too large.
We find simple expressions for velocity of massless particles in dependence of the distance $r$ in Schwarzschild coordinates. For massive particles these expressions put an upper bound for the velocity. Our results apply to static spherically symmetric metrics. We use these results to calculate the velocity for different cases: Schwarzschild, Schwarzschild-de Sitter and Reissner-Nordström with and without the cosmological constant. We emphasize the differences between the behavior of the velocity in the different metrics and find that in cases with naked singularity there exists always a regio…
The complete analytical solutions of the geodesic equation of massive test particles in higher dimensional Schwarzschild, Schwarzschild-(anti)de Sitter, Reissner-Nordstroem and Reissner-Nordstroem-(anti)de Sitter space--times are presented. Using the Jacobi inversion problem restricted to the theta divisor the explicit solution is given in terms of Kleinian sigma functions. The derived orbits depend on the structure of the roots of the characteristic polynomials which depend on the particle's energy and angular momentum, on the mass and the charge of the gravitational source, and the cosmologi…
It is shown that, for spherically symmetric static backgrounds, a simple reduced Dirac equation can be obtained by using the Cartesian tetrad gauge in Cartesian holonomic coordinates. This equation is manifestly covariant under rotations so that the spherical coordinates can be separated in terms of angular spinors like in special relativity, obtaining a pair of radial equations and a specific form of the radial scalar product. As an example, we analytically solve the anti-de Sitter oscillator giving the formula of the energy levels and the form of the corresponding eigenspinors.
A contribution linear in r to the gravitational potential can be created by a suitable conformal duality transformation: the conformal factor is 1/(1+r)^2 and r will be replaced by r/(1+r), where r is the Schwarzschild radial coordinate. Thus, every spherically symmetric solution of conformal Weyl gravity is conformally related to an Einstein space. This result finally resolves a long controversy about this topic. As a byproduct, we present an example of a spherically symmetric Einstein space which is a limit of a sequence of Schwarzschild-de Sitter space-times but which fails to be expressabl…
We consider a quantum field which is in a Hartle-Hawking state propagating in a general spherically symmetric black hole space-time. We make use of uniform approximations to the radial equation to calculate the components of the stress tensor, renormalized using the Hadamard form of the Green's function, on the horizons of this space-time. We then specialize these results to the case of the `lukewarm' Reissner-Nordstrom-de Sitter black hole and derive some conditions on the stress tensor for the regularity of the Hartle-Hawking state.
We prove some theorems characterizing the global properties of static, spherically symmetric configurations of a self-gravitating real scalar field in general relativity (GR) in various dimensions, with an arbitrary potential $V$, not necessarily positive-definite. The results are extended to sigma models, scalar-tensor and curvature-nonlinear theories of gravity. We show that the list of all possible types of space-time causal structure in the models under study is the same as for a constant scalar field, namely, Minkowski (or AdS), Schwarzschild, de Sitter and Schwarzschild - de Sitter, and …
Interior solutions of Einstein's equations with a non-zero cosmological constant are given for static and spherically symmetric configurations of uniform density. The metric tensor and pressure are determined for both positive and negative values of the cosmological constant. Limits on the outer radius of the interior solutions are established. It is shown that, contrary to the cases of the limits on the interior Schwarzschild and Reissner--Nordström solutions with a zero cosmological constant, these limits do not fully coincide with the conditions of embeddability of the optical reference geo…
We investigate the static and spherically black hole solutions in the quadratic-order extended vector-tensor theories without suffering from the Ostrogradsky instabilities, which include the quartic-order (beyond-)generalized Proca theories as the subclass. We start from the most general action of the vector-tensor theories constructed with up to the quadratic-order terms of the first-order covariant derivatives of the vector field, and derive the Euler-Lagrange equations for the metric and vector field variables in the static and spherically symmetric backgrounds. We then substitute the space…
In this paper I study stationary, spherically symmetric accretion of fluids onto a charged black hole in the presence of the cosmological constant. For some isothermal equations of state it is possible to obtain analytic solutions. In the case of a radiation fluid I point out a connection between locations of the horizons and the sonic (critical) points. In specific cases the solutions form closed, binoculars-like trajectories in a phase diagram of the velocity vs. radius.
New spherically symmetric gravastar solutions, stable to radial perturbations, are found by utilising the construction of Visser and Wiltshire. The solutions possess an anti--de Sitter or de Sitter interior and a Schwarzschild--(anti)--de Sitter or Reissner--Nordström exterior. We find a wide range of parameters which allow stable gravastar solutions, and present the different qualitative behaviours of the equation of state for these parameters.
We here investigate static, spherically symmetric solutions to $\mathfrak{su}(\infty)$ Einstein-Yang-Mills theory with a negative cosmological constant $Λ$ in the case of dyonic solutions, which possess a non-trivial electric sector of the gauge field. We are able to find non-trivial solutions to this system, and show that some may be uniquely characterised by a countably infinite set of global charges, which may have implications for Bizon's modified `No Hair' theorem.
We examine potential deformations of inner black hole and cosmological horizons in Reissner-Nordström de-Sitter spacetimes. While the rigidity of the outer black hole horizon is guaranteed by theorem, that theorem applies to neither the inner black hole nor past cosmological horizon. Further for pure deSitter spacetime it is clear that the cosmological horizon can be deformed (by translation). For specific parameter choices, it is shown that both inner black hole and cosmological horizons can be infinitesimally deformed. However these do not extend to finite deformations. The corresponding res…
