In this paper, we study the transcendental meromorphic solutions for the nonlinear differential equations: $f^{n}+P(f)=R(z)e^{α(z)}$ and $f^{n}+P_{*}(f)=p_{1}(z)e^{α_{1}(z)}+p_{2}(z)e^{α_{2}(z)}$ in the complex plane, where $P(f)$ and $P_{*}(f)$ are differential polynomials in $f$ of degree $n-1$ with coefficients being small functions and rational functions respectively, $R$ is a non-vanishing small function of $f$, $α$ is a nonconstant entire function, $p_{1}, p_{2}$ are non-vanishing rational functions, and $α_{1}, α_{2}$ are nonconstant polynomials. Particularly, we consider the solutions of the second equation when $p_{1}, p_{2}$ are nonzero constants, and $°α_{1}=°α_{2}=1$. Our results are improvements and complements of Liao (Complex Var. Elliptic Equ. 2015, 60(6): 748--756), and Rong-Xu (Mathematics 2019, 7, 539), etc., which partially answer a question proposed by Li (J. Math. Anal. Appl. 2011, 375: 310--319).
In this note it is shown that two key results on transcendental singularities for meromorphic functions of finite lower order have refinements which hold under the weaker hypothesis that the logarithmic derivative has finite lower order.
A special class of autonomous algebraic differential equations is studied. No equations in the class have any entire transcendental solutions. In a sense, for almost all equations in the class, transcendental meromorphic solutions can also be excluded. With substantially fewer exceptional equations, transcendental solutions are either elliptic or of the form f(z) = g(exp(cz)) with g rational and c constant.
This paper studies exact meromorphic solutions of the autonomous Schwarzian differential equations. All transcendental meromorphic solutions of five canonical types (among six) of the autonomous Schwarzian differential equations are constructed explicitly. In particular, the solutions of four types are shown to be elliptic functions. Also, all transcendental meromorphic solutions that are locally injective or possess a Picard exceptional value are characterized for the remaining canonical type.
This text provides an overview of the (geometric) thermodynamic formalism for transcendental meromorphic and entire functions with particular emphasis on geometric/fractal aspects such as Bowen's Formula expressing the hyperbolic dimension as a unique zero of a pressure function and the behavior of the latter when the transcendental functions vary in an analytic family.
In this paper, for a transcendental meromorphic function $f$ and $a\in \mathbb{C}$, we have exhaustively studied the nature and form of solutions of a new type of non-linear differential equation of the following form which has never been investigated earlier: \beas f^n+af^{n-2}f'+ P_d(z,f) = \sum_{i=1}^{k}p_i(z)e^{α_i(z)},\eeas where $P_d(z,f)$ is differential polynomial of $f$, $p_i$'s and $α_{i}$'s are non-vanishing rational functions and non-constant polynomials respectively. When $a=0$, we have pointed out a major lacuna in a recent result of Xue [Math. Slovaca, 70(1)(2020), 87-94] and re…
This paper is devoted to establish sufficient conditions under which a transcendental meromorphic function has no unbounded Fatou components and to extend some results for entire functions to meromorphic functions. Actually, we shall mainly discuss non-existence of unbounded wandering domains of a meromorphic function. The case for a composition of finitely many meromorphic function with at least one of them being transcendental can be also investigated in the argument of this paper.
We construct some explicit formulas of rational maps and transcendental meromorphic functions having Herman rings of period strictly larger than one. This gives an answer to a question raised by Shishikura in the 1980s. Moreover, the formulas of some rational maps with nested Herman rings are also found. To obtain the formulas of transcendental meromorphic functions having periodic Herman rings, a crucial step is to find an explicit family of transcendental entire functions having bounded Siegel disks of all possible periods and rotation numbers. This is based on proving the existence of a Man…
We consider transcendental meromorphic functions for which the zeros, 1-points and poles are distributed on three distinct rays. We show that such functions exist if and only if the rays are equally spaced. We also obtain a normal family analogue of this result.
Let f be a function transcendental and meromorphic in the plane, and define g(z) by g(z) = f(z+1) - f(z). A number of results are proved concerning the existence of zeros of g(z) or g(z)/f(z), in terms of the growth and the poles of f.
In this paper, we investigate the value distribution for linear q-difference polynomials of transcendental meromorphic functions of zero order which improves the results of Xu, Liu and Cao (\cite{Xu & Liu & Cao & 2015}). We also investigate the uniqueness of zero order meromorphic function with its q-difference operator sharing two sets with finite weight. Some examples have been exhibited which are relevant to the content of the paper.
This paper attempts to describe some of the results obtained in the iteration theory of transcendental meromorphic functions, not excluding the case of entire functions. The reader is not expected to be familiar with the iteration theory of rational functions. On the other hand, some aspects where the transcendental case is analogous to the rational case are treated rather briefly here. For example, we introduce the different types of components of the Fatou set that occur in the iteration of rational functions but omit a detailed description of these types. Instead, we concentrate on the type…
We show that for a real transcendental meromorphic function f, the differential polynomial f'+f^m with m > 4 has infinitely many non-real zeros. Similar results are obtained for differential polynomials f'f^m-1. We specially investigate the case of meromorphic functions with finitely many poles. We show by examples the precision of our results. One of our main tools is the Fatou theorem from complex dynamics.
In this paper we aim to establish some results depending on the comparative growth properties of composite transcendental entire or meromorphic functions and some special type of differential polynomials generated by one of the factors on the basis of (p,q)-th order and (p,q)-th lower order where p,q are positive integers with p greater than or equal to q.
The characterization and properties of Julia sets of one parameter family of transcendental meromorphic functions $ζ_λ(z)=λ\frac{z}{z+1} e^{-z}$, $λ>0$, $z\in \mathbb{C}$ is investigated in the present paper. It is found that bifurcations in the dynamics of $ζ_λ(x)$, $x\in {\mathbb{R}}\setminus \{-1\}$, occur at several parameter values and the dynamics of the family becomes chaotic when the parameter $λ$ crosses certain values. The Lyapunov exponent of $ζ_λ(x)$ for certain values of the parameter $λ$ is computed for quantifying the chaos in its dynamics. The characterization of the Julia set …
Suppose that a transcendental meromorphic function in the plane has finitely many critical values, while its multiple points have bounded multiplicities, and its inverse function has finitely many transcendental singularities. Using the Wiman-Valiron method it is shown that the Schwarzian derivative does not have a direct transcendental singularity over infinity, and does not have infinity as a Borel exceptional value.
We describe conditions under which a multiply connected wandering domain of a transcendental meromorphic function with a finite number of poles must be a Baker wandering domain, and we discuss the possible eventual connectivity of Fatou components of transcendental meromorphic functions. We also show that if $f$ is meromorphic, $U$ is a bounded component of $F(f)$ and $V$ is the component of $F(f)$ such that $f(U)\subset V$, then $f$ maps each component of $\partial U$ onto a component of the boundary of $V$ in $\hat{\C}$. We give examples which show that our results are sharp; for example, we…
We study the class $\mathcal{M}$ of functions meromorphic outside a countable closed set of essential singularities. We show that if a function in $\mathcal{M}$, with at least one essential singularity, permutes with a non-constant rational map $g$, then $g$ is a Möbius map that is not conjugate to an irrational rotation. For a given function $ f \in\mathcal{M}$ which is not a Möbius map, we show that the set of functions in $\mathcal{M}$ that permute with $ f $ is countably infinite. Finally, we show that there exist transcendental meromorphic functions $f: \mathbb{C} \to \mathbb{C}$ such tha…
We survey the definition of the radial Julia set of a meromorphic function (in fact, more generally, any "Ahlfors islands map"), and give a simple proof that the Hausdorff dimension of the reduced Julia set always coincides with the hyperbolic dimension.
Let $f$ be a transcendental meromorphic function defined in the complex plane $\mathbb{C}$. We consider the value distribution of the differential polynomial $f^{q_{0}}(f^{(k)})^{q_{k}}$, where $q_{0}(\geq 2), q_{k}(\geq 1)$ are $k(\geq1)$ non-negative integers. We obtain a quantitative estimation of the characteristic function $T(r, f)$ in terms of $\overline{N}\left(r,\frac{1}{f^{q_{_{0}}}(f^{(k)})^{q_{k}}-1}\right)$.\par Our result generalizes the results obtained by Xu et al. (Math. Inequal. Appl., 14, 93-100, 2011) and Karmakar and Sahoo (Results Math., 73, 2018) for a particular class of…
It is shown that the difference equation \begin{equation}\label{abseq} (Δf(z))^2=A(z)(f(z)f(z+1)-B(z)), \qquad\qquad (1) \end{equation} where $A(z)$ and $B(z)$ are meromorphic functions, possesses a continuous limit to the differential equation \begin{equation}\label{abseq2} (w')^2=A(z)(w^2-1),\qquad\qquad (2) \end{equation} which extends to solutions in certain cases. In addition, if (1) possesses two distinct transcendental meromorphic solutions, it is shown that these solutions satisfy an algebraic relation, and that their growth behaviors are almost same in the sense of Nevanlinna under so…
In this paper, we study the large scaled geometric structure of Julia sets of entire and meromorphic functions. Roughly speaking, the structure gives us some asymptotic information about the Julia set near the essential singularity. We will show that part of this structure are determined by the transcendental directions coming from function theoretic point of view.
The Fatou-Julia theory for rational functions has been extended both to transcendental meromorphic functions and more recently to several different types of quasiregular mappings in higher dimensions. We extend the iterative theory to quasimeromorphic mappings with an essential singularity at infinity and at least one pole, constructing the Julia set for these maps. We show that this Julia set shares many properties with those for transcendental meromorphic functions and for quasiregular mappings of punctured space.
The escaping set I(f) of a transcendental meromorphic function f consists of all points which tend to infinity under iteration. The Eremenko-Lyubich class B consists of all transcendental meromorphic functions for which the set of finite critical and asymptotic values of f is bounded. It is shown that if f is in B and of finite order of growth, if infinity is not an asymptotic value of f and if the multiplicities of the poles of f are uniformly bounded, then the Hausdorff dimension of I(f) is strictly smaller than 2. In fact, we give a sharp bound for the Hausdorff dimension of I(f) in terms o…
The uniqueness problems on transcendental meromorphic or entire functions sharing at least two values with their derivatives or linear differential polynomials have been studied and many results have been obtained. In this paper, we study a transcendental entire function f that shares a non-zero polynomial a with f', together with its linear differential polynomials of the form with rational function coefficients.
In this paper we consider the topological class, denoted by AV2, of universal covering maps from the plane to the sphere with two removed points. We prove that an element f in AV2 with finite post-singular set is combinatorially equivalent to a meromorphic transcendental map g with constant Schwarzian derivative if any only if f satisfies a Bounded Geometry condition.
Thirty research questions on meromorphic functions and complex differential equations are listed and discussed. The main purpose of this paper is to make this collection of problems available to everyone.
We show that any dynamics on any discrete planar sequence $S$ can be realized by the postsingular dynamics of some transcendental meromorphic function, provided we allow for small perturbations of $S$. This work was influenced by an analogous result of DeMarco, Koch and McMullen for finite $S$ in the rational setting. The proof contains a method for constructing meromorphic functions with good control over both the postsingular set of $f$ and the geometry of $f$, using the Folding Theorem of Bishop and a classical fixpoint theorem of Tychonoff.
In this paper, we consider the behaviour, when $q$ goes to $1$, of the set of a convenient basis of meromorphic solutions of a family of linear $q$-difference equations. In particular, we show that, under convenient assumptions, such basis of meromorphic solutions converges, when $q$ goes to $1$, to a basis of meromorphic solutions of a linear differential equation. We also explain that given a linear differential equation of order at least two, which has a Newton polygon that has only slopes of multiplicities one, and a basis of meromorphic solutions, we may build a family of linear $q$-diffe…
It is shown that if It is shown that if \begin{equation}\label{abstract_eq} f(z+1)^n=R(z,f),\tag† \end{equation} where $R(z,f)$ is rational in $f$ with meromorphic coefficients and $°_f(R(z,f))=n$, has an admissible meromorphic solution, then either $f$ satisfies a difference linear or Riccati equation with meromorphic coefficients, or \eqref{abstract_eq} can be transformed into one in a list of ten equations with certain meromorphic or algebroid coefficients. In particular, if \eqref{abstract_eq}, where the assumption $°_f(R(z,f))=n$ has been discarded, has rational coefficients and a transce…
The paper determines all meromorphic functions with finitely many zeros in the plane having the property that a linear differential polynomial in the function, of order at least 3 and with rational functions as coefficients, also has finitely many zeros.
In this paper, we mainly investigate on the finite order transcendental entire solutions of two Fermat types delay-differential and one Fermat type c-shift equations, as these types were not considered earlier. Our results improve those of [13] in some sense. In addition, we also extend some recent results obtained in [18]. A handful number of examples have been provided by us to justify our certain assertion as and when required.
In this paper we introduce and study two new subclasses Σ_{λμ mp}(α,β)$ and $Σ^{+}_{λμmp}(α,β)$ of meromorphically multivalent functions which are defined by means of a new differential operator. Some results connected to subordination properties, coefficient estimates, convolution properties, integral representation, distortion theorems are obtained. We also extend the familiar concept of $% (n,δ)-$neighborhoods of analytic functions to these subclasses of meromorphically multivalent functions.
This paper is devoted to the uniqueness problem of the power of a meromorphic function with its differential polynomial sharing a set. Our result will extend a number of results obtained in the theory of normal families. Some questions are posed for future research.
n this article we consider functions meromorphic in the unit disk. We give an elementary proof for a condition that is sufficient for the univalence of such functions which also contains some known results. We include few open problems for further research.
We give an alternative and simpler method for getting pointwise estimate of meromorphic solutions of homogeneous linear differential equations with coefficients meromorphic in a finite disk or in the open plane originally obtained by Hayman and the author. In particular, our estimates generally give better upper bounds for higher order derivatives of the meromorphic solutions under consideration, are valid, however, outside an exceptional set of finite logarithmic density. The estimates again show that the growth of meromorphic solutions with a positive deficiency at infinity can be estimated …
In this paper, we study the uniqueness of the differential-difference of meromorphic functions. We prove the following result: Let $f$ be a nonconstant meromorphic function of $ρ_{2}(f)<1$, let $η$ be a non-zero complex number, $n\geq1, k\geq0$ two integers and let $a\not\equiv0,\infty$ be a small function of $f$. If $f$ and $(Δ_η^{n}f)^{(k)}$ share $0,\infty$ CM and share $a$ IM, then $f\equiv(Δ_η^{n}f)^{(k)}$, which use a completely different method to improve some results due to Chen-Xu [1].
We study how the orbits of the singularities of the inverse of a meromorphic function prescribe the dynamics on its Julia set, at least up to a set of (Lebesgue) measure zero. We concentrate on a family of entire transcendental functions with only finitely many singularities of the inverse, counting multiplicity, all of which either escape exponentially fast or are pre-periodic. For these functions we are able to decide, whether the function is recurrent of not. In the case that the Julia set is not the entire plane we also obtain estimates for the measure of the Julia set.
In this paper, we will consider normality and uniqueness property of a family $\mathcal{F}$ of meromorphic functions when $[Q(f)]^{(k)}$ and $[Q(g)]^{(k)}$ share $α$ ignoring multiplicities, for any $f,g\in \mathcal{F}$, where $Q$ is a polynomial and $α$ is a small function. Our results do not need all of zeros of $Q$ have large order as other authors's results.
In this paper, we give a new proof of a result due to Bezivin that a D-finite Mahler function is necessarily rational. This also gives a new proof of the rational-transcendental dichotomy of Mahler functions due to Nishioka. Using our method of proof, we also provide a new proof of a Polya-Carlson type result for Mahler functions due to Rande; that is, a Mahler function which is meromorphic in the unit disk is either rational or has the unit circle as a natural boundary.
In this article, we study the growth of meromorphic solutions of linear delay-differential equation of the form \begin{equation*} \sum_{i=0}^{n}\sum_{j=0}^{m}A_{ij}(z)f^{(j)}(z+c_{i})=F(z), \end{equation*}% where $A_{ij}(z)$ $(i=0,1,\ldots ,n,j=0,1,\ldots ,m,n,m\in \mathbb{N})$ and $% F(z)$ are meromorphic of finite logarithmic order, $c_{i}(i=0,\ldots ,n)$ are distinct non-zero complex constants. We extend those results obtained recently by Chen and Zheng, Bellaama and Bela\"ıdi to the logarithmic lower order.
In this paper, taking the question of Zhang and Lü into the background, we present one theorem which will improve and extend some recent results related to the Brück Conjecture.
In this paper, we prove some uniqueness results which improve and generalize several earlier works. Also, we prove a value distribution result concerning $f^{(k)}$ which provides a partial answer to a question of Fang and Wang [A note on the conjectures of Hayman, Mues and Gol'dberg, Comp. Methods, Funct. Theory (2013)13, 533-543].
In this paper, we study the transcendental entire solutions for the nonlinear differential-difference equations of the forms: $f^{2}(z)+\widetildeω f(z)f'(z)+q(z)e^{Q(z)}f(z+c)=u(z)e^{v(z)}$, and $f^{n}(z)+ωf^{n-1}(z)f'(z)+q(z)e^{Q(z)}f(z+c)=p_{1}e^{λ_{1} z}+p_{2}e^{λ_{2} z}, \quad n\geq 3,$ where $ω$ is a constant, $\widetildeω, c, λ_{1}, λ_{2}, p_{1}, p_{2}$ are non-zero constants, $q, Q, u, v$ are polynomials such that $Q,v$ are not constants and $q,u\not\equiv0$. Our results are improvements and complements of some previous results.
If the function $f$ is transcendental and meromorphic in the plane, and either $f$ has finitely many poles or its inverse function has a logarithmic singularity over infinity, then the equation $\dot z = f(z)$ has infinitely many trajectories tending to infinity in finite increasing time
In this article, we deal with the order of growth of solutions of non-homogeneous linear differential-difference equation \begin{equation*} \sum_{i=0}^{n}\sum_{j=0}^{m}A_{ij}f^{(j)}(z+c_{i})=F(z), \end{equation*} where $A_{ij},$ $F\left( z\right) $ are entire or meromorphic functions and $c_{i}$ $\left( 0,1,...,n\right) $ are non-zero distinct complex numbers. Under the sufficient condition that there exists one coefficient having the maximal lower order or having the maximal lower type strictly greater than the order or the type of other coefficients, we obtain estimates of the lower bound of…
We utilise recent results about the transcendental solutions to Riccati differential equations to provide a comprehensive description of the nature of the transcendental solutions to algebraic first order differential equations of genus zero.
The purpose of this paper is to obtain some sufficient conditions to determine the relation between a meromorphic function and an L-function when certain differential polynomial generated by them sharing a one degree polynomial. The main theorem of the paper extends and improves all the results in {W. J. Hao and J. F. Chen, Uniqueness of L-functions concerning certain differential polynomials, Discrete Dyn. Nat. Soc., 2018, DOI. 10.1155/2018/4673165}, {F. Liu, X. M. Li and H. X. Yi, Value distribution of L-functions concerning shared values and certain differential polynomials, Proc. Japan. Ac…
The paper is devoted to study the uniqueness problem of linear delay-differential operator of a meromorphic function sharing two sets or small function together with values with its $c$-shift and $q$-shift operator. Results of this paper drastically improve two recent results of Meng-Liu [J. Appl. Math. Inform. 37(1-2)(2019), 133-148] and Qi-Li-Yang [Comput. Methods Funct. Theo., 18(2018), 567-582]. In addition to this, one of our result improve and extend that of Qi-Yang [Comput. Methods Funct. Theo., 20(2020), 159-178].
We establish pointwise growth estimates for the spherical derivative of solutions of the first order algebraic differential equations. A generalization of this result to higher order equations is also given. We discuss the related question of when for a given class $X$ of meromorphic functions in the unit disc, defined by means of the spherical derivative, and $m \in \mathbb{N} \setminus \{1\}$, $f^m\in X$ implies $f\in X$. An affirmative answer to this is given for example in the case of $\mathord{\rm UBC}$, the $α$-normal functions with $α\ge1$ and certain (sufficiently large) Dirichlet type…
