For a positive integer $k$, a $k$-rainbow dominating function ($k$RDF) on a digraph $D$ is a function $f$ from the vertex set $V(D)$ to the set of all subsets of $\{1,2,\ldots,k\}$ such that for any vertex $v$ with $f(v)=\emptyset$, $\bigcup_{u\in N^-(v)}f(u)=\{1,2,\ldots,k\}$, where $N^-(v)$ is the set of in-neighbors of $v$. The weight of a $k$RDF $f$ is defined as $\sum_{v\in V(D)}|f(v)|$. A $k$RDF $f$ on $D$ with no isolated vertex is called a total $k$-rainbow dominating function if the subdigraph of $D$ induced by the set $\{v\in V(D):f(v)\ne\emptyset\}$ has no isolated vertex. The total $k$-rainbow domination number is the minimum weight of a total $k$-rainbow dominating function on $D$. In this paper, we establish some bounds for the total $k$-rainbow domination number and we give the total $k$-rainbow domination number of some digraphs.
Recently the notion of $k$-rainbow total domination was introduced for a graph $G$, motivated by a desire to reduce the problem of computing the total domination number of the generalized prism $G \Box K_k$ to an integer labeling problem on $G$. In this paper we further demonstrate usefulness of the labeling approach, presenting bounds on the rainbow total domination number in terms of the total domination number, the rainbow domination number and the rainbow total domination number, as well as the usual domination number, where the latter presents a generalization of a result by Goddard and H…
An edge-coloured path is \emph{rainbow} if its edges have distinct colours. An edge-coloured connected graph is said to be \emph{rainbow connected} if any two vertices are connected by a rainbow path, and \emph{strongly rainbow connected} if any two vertices are connected by a rainbow geodesic. The (\emph{strong}) \emph{rainbow connection number} of a connected graph is the minimum number of colours needed to make the graph (strongly) rainbow connected. These two graph parameters were introduced by Chartrand, Johns, McKeon and Zhang in 2008. As an extension, Krivelevich and Yuster proposed the…
The $k$-rainbow domination problem is studied for regular graphs. We prove that the $k$-rainbow domination number $γ_{rk}(G)$ of a $d$-regular graph for $d\leq k\leq 2d$ is bounded below by $\displaystyle{\left\lceil kn/2d\right\rceil}$, where $n$ is the order of a graph. We determine necessary conditions for regular graphs to attain this bound and find several examples. As an application, we determine exact $k$-rainbow domination numbers for all cubic Cayley graphs over abelian groups.
An edge-coloured path is rainbow if its edges have distinct colours. For a connected graph $G$, the rainbow connection number (resp. strong rainbow connection number) of $G$ is the minimum number of colours required to colour the edges of $G$ so that, any two vertices of $G$ are connected by a rainbow path (resp. rainbow geodesic). These two graph parameters were introduced by Chartrand, Johns, McKeon and Zhang in 2008. Krivelevich and Yuster generalised this concept to the vertex-coloured setting. Similarly, Liu, Mestre and Sousa introduced the version which involves total-colourings. Dorbec,…
In 2018, Bai, Fujita and Zhang (\emph{Discrete Math.} 2018, 341(6): 1523-1533) introduced the concept of a kernel by rainbow paths (for short, RP-kernel) of an arc-coloured digraph $D$, which is a subset $S$ of vertices of $D$ such that ($a$) there exists no rainbow path for any pair of distinct vertices of $S$, and ($b$) every vertex outside $S$ can reach $S$ by a rainbow path in $D$. They showed that it is NP-hard to recognize wether an arc-coloured digraph has a RP-kernel and it is NP-complete to decided wether an arc-coloured tournament has a RP-kernel. In this paper, we give the sufficien…
For a graph $G$, let $γ_{r2}(G)$ and $γ_R(G)$ denote the $2$-rainbow domination number and the Roman domination number, respectively. Fujita and Furuya (Difference between 2-rainbow domination and Roman domination in graphs, Discrete Applied Mathematics 161 (2013) 806-812) proved $γ_{r2}(G)+γ_R(G)\leq \frac{6}{4}n(G)$ for a connected graph $G$ of order $n(G)$ at least $3$. Furthermore, they conjectured $γ_{r2}(G)+γ_R(G)\leq \frac{4}{3}n(G)$ for a connected graph $G$ of minimum degree at least $2$ that is distinct from $C_5$. We characterize all extremal graphs for their inequality and prove th…
Addressing a problem posed by Chellali, Haynes, and Hedetniemi (Discrete Appl. Math. 178 (2014) 27-32) we prove $γ_{r2}(G)\leq 2γ_r(G)$ for every graph $G$, where $γ_{r2}(G)$ and $γ_r(G)$ denote the $2$-rainbow domination number and the weak Roman domination number of $G$, respectively. We characterize the extremal graphs for this inequality that are $\{ K_4,K_4-e\}$-free, and show that the recognition of the $K_5$-free extremal graphs is NP-hard.
A digraph $D$ is an efficient closed domination digraph if there exists a subset $S$ of $V(D)$ for which the closed out-neighborhoods centered in vertices of $S$ form a partition of $V(D)$. In this work we deal with efficient closed domination digraphs among several product of digraphs. We completely describe the efficient closed domination digraphs among lexicographic and strong products of digraphs. We characterize those direct products of digraphs that are efficient closed domination digraphs, where factors are either two cycles or two paths. Among Cartesian product of digraphs, we describe…
In this paper, we investigate the relation between the (fractional) domination number of a digraph $G$ and the independence number of its underlying graph, denoted by $α(G)$. More precisely, we prove that every digraph $G$ has fractional domination number at most $2α(G)$, and every directed triangle-free digraph $G$ has domination number at most $α(G)\cdot α(G)!$. The first bound is sharp.
An edge-coloured graph $G$ is {\it rainbow connected} if any two vertices are connected by a path whose edges have distinct colours. This concept was introduced by Chartrand et al. in \cite{ch01}, and it was extended to oriented graphs by Dorbec et al. in \cite{DI}. In this paper we present some results regarding this extention, mostly for the case of circulant digraphs.
Let k be a positive integer and let f be a map from V(G) to the set of all subsets of {1,2,3,...,k}. The function f is called a k-rainbow dominating function of G provided that whenever u is a vertex of G such that f(u) is the empty set, then for each integer r in {1,2,3,...,k} there is a neighbor x of u such that f(x) contains r. The k-rainbow domination number of G is the minimum sum (over all the vertices of G) of the cardinalities of the subsets assigned by a k-rainbow dominating function of G. The k-rainbow domination number of G is the ordinary domination number of the Cartesian product …
In this paper, we define a new domination invariant on a graph $G$, which coincides with the ordinary independent domination number of the generalized prism $G \Box K_k$, called the $k$-rainbow independent domination number and denoted by $γ_{{\rm ri}k}(G)$. Some bounds and exact values concerning this domination concept are determined. As a main result, we prove a Nordhaus-Gaddum-type theorem on the sum for $2$-rainbow independent domination number, and show if G is a graph of order $n \geq 3$, then $5\leq γ_{{\rm ri}2}(G)+γ_{{\rm ri}2}(\overline{G})\leq n+3$, with both bounds being sharp.
For a function $f : V(G ) \rightarrow \{0, 1, 2\}$ we denote by $V_i$ the set of vertices to which the value $i$ is assigned by $f$, i.e. $V_i = \{ x \in V (G ) : f(x ) = i \}$. If a function $f: V(G) \rightarrow \{0,1,2\}$ satisfying the condition that $V_i$ is independent for $i \in \{1,2\}$ and every vertex $u$ for which $f(u) = 0$ is adjacent to at least one vertex $v$ for which $f(v) = i$ for each $i \in \{1,2\}$, then $f$ is called a 2-rainbow independent dominating function (2RiDF). The weight $w(f)$ of a 2RiDF $f$ is the value $w(f) = |V_1|+|V_2|$. The minimum weight of a 2RiDF on a gr…
A {\it 2-rainbow domination function} of a graph $G$ is a function $f$ that assigns to each vertex a set of colors chosen from the set $\{1,2\}$, such that for any $v\in V(G)$, $f(v)=\emptyset$ implies $\bigcup_{u\in N(v)}f(u)=\{1,2\}$. The {\it 2-rainbow domination number $γ_{r2}(G)$} of a graph $G$ is the minimum $w(f)=Σ_{v\in V}|f(v)|$ over all such functions $f$. Let $G$ be a connected graph of order $|V(G)|=n\geq 3$. We prove that $γ_{r2}(G)\leq 3n/4$ and we characterize the graphs achieving equality. We also prove a lower bound for 2-rainbow domination number of a tree using its dominati…
Let $D$ be an arc-colored digraph. The arc number $a(D)$ of $D$ is defined as the number of arcs of $D$. The color number $c(D)$ of $D$ is defined as the number of colors assigned to the arcs of $D$. A rainbow triangle in $D$ is a directed triangle in which every pair of arcs have distinct colors. Let $f(D)$ be the smallest integer such that if $c(D)\geq f(D)$, then $D$ contains a rainbow triangle. In this paper we obtain $f(\overleftrightarrow{K}_{n})$ and $f(T_n)$, where $\overleftrightarrow{K}_{n}$ is a complete digraph of order $n$ and $T_n$ is a strongly connected tournament of order $n$.…
A subset $S$ of vertices of a digraph $D$ is a double dominating set (total $2$-dominating set) if every vertex not in $S$ is adjacent from at least two vertices in $S$, and every vertex in $S$ is adjacent from at least one vertex in $S$ (the subdigraph induced by $S$ has no isolated vertices). The double domination number (total $2$-domination number) of a digraph $D$ is the minimum cardinality of a double dominating set (total $2$-dominating set) in $D$. In this work, we investigate these concepts which can be considered as two extensions of double domination in graphs to digraphs, along wit…
For a graph $G$, let $γ_R(G)$ and $γ_{r2}(G)$ denote the Roman domination number of $G$ and the $2$-rainbow domination number of $G$, respectively. It is known that $γ_{r2}(G)\leq γ_R(G)\leq \frac{3}{2}γ_{r2}(G)$. Fujita and Furuya (Difference between 2-rainbow domination and Roman domination in graphs, Discrete Applied Mathematics 161 (2013) 806-812) present some kind of characterization of the graphs $G$ for which $γ_R(G)-γ_{r2}(G)=k$ for some integer $k$. Unfortunately, their result does not lead to an algorithm that allows to recognize these graphs efficiently. We show that for every fixed…
An integer distance digraph is the Cayley graph $Γ(\mathbb{Z},S)$ of the additive group $\mathbb{Z}$ of all integers with respect to some finite subset $S \subseteq \mathbb{Z}$. The domination ratio of $Γ(\mathbb{Z},S)$ is the minimum density of a dominating set in $Γ(\mathbb{Z},S)$. We establish some basic results on the domination ratio of $Γ(\mathbb{Z},S)$ and precisely determine it when $S=\{s,t\}$ with $s$ dividing $t$.
We study a new kind of proximity graphs called proportional-edge proximity catch digraphs (PCDs)in a randomized setting. PCDs are a special kind of random catch digraphs that have been developed recently and have applications in statistical pattern classification and spatial point pattern analysis. PCDs are also a special type of intersection digraphs; and for one-dimensional data, the proportional-edge PCD family is also a family of random interval catch digraphs. We present the exact (and asymptotic) distribution of the domination number of this PCD family for uniform (and non-uniform) data …
An arc colored eulerian multidigraph with $l$ colors is rainbow eulerian if there is an eulerian circuit in which a sequence of $l$ colors repeats. The digraph product that refers the title was introduced by Figueroa-Centeno et al. as follows: let $D$ be a digraph and let $Γ$ be a family of digraphs such that $V(F)=V$ for every $F\in Γ$. Consider any function $h:E(D)\longrightarrowΓ$. Then the product $D\otimes_{h} Γ$ is the digraph with vertex set $V(D)\times V$ and $((a,x),(b,y))\in E(D\otimes_{h}Γ)$ if and only if $ (a,b)\in E(D)$ and $ (x,y)\in E(h (a,b))$. In this paper we use rainbow eul…
The $k$-rainbow independent domination number of a graph $G$, denoted $γ_{\rm rik}(G)$, is the cardinality of a smallest set consisting of two vertex-disjoint independent sets $V_1$ and $V_2$ for which every vertex in $V(G)\setminus (V_1\cup V_2)$ has neighbors in both $V_1$ and $V_2$. This domination invariant was proposed by {Š}umenjak, Rall and Tepeh in (Applied Mathematics and Computation 333(15), 2018: 353-361), which allows to reduce the problem of computing the independent domination number of the generalized prism $G {\Box} K_k$ to an integer labeling problem on $G$. They proved a Nord…
Let $G$ be a finite simple graph with vertex set $V(G)$ and edge set $E(G)$. A function $f : V(G) \rightarrow \mathcal{P}(\{1, 2, \dotsc, k\})$ is a \textit{$k$-rainbow dominating function} on $G$ if for each vertex $v \in V(G)$ for which $f(v)= \emptyset$, it holds that $\bigcup_{u \in N(v)}f(u) = \{1, 2, \dotsc, k\}$. The weight of a $k$-rainbow dominating function is the value $\sum_{v \in V(G)}|f(v)|$. The \textit{$k$-rainbow domination number} $γ_{rk}(G)$ is the minimum weight of a $k$-rainbow dominating function on $G$. In this paper, we initiate the study of $k$-rainbow domination numbe…
Given a graph G = (V,E), a subset S of V is dominating if for every v in V - S there exists u in S such that uv is in E. A dominating subset S of V is secure if for every v in V - S there exists u in S such that (S - {u}) U {v} is dominating. In this work we extend the concept of secure dominating set to digraphs in four different ways, all of them with interesting applications, and prove some results regarding each of them.
Zero forcing is a propagation process on a graph, or digraph, defined in linear algebra to provide a bound for the minimum rank problem. Independently, zero forcing was introduced in physics, computer science and network science, areas where line digraphs are frequently used as models. Zero forcing is also related to power domination, a propagation process that models the monitoring of electrical power networks. In this paper we study zero forcing in iterated line digraphs and provide a relationship between zero forcing and power domination in line digraphs. In particular, for regular iterated…
An integer distance digraph is the Cayley graph $Γ(\mathbb{Z},S)$ of the additive group $\mathbb{Z}$ of all integers with respect to a finite subset $S\subseteq\mathbb{Z}$. The domination ratio of $Γ(\mathbb{Z},S)$, defined as the minimum density of its dominating sets, is related to some number theory problems, such as tiling the integers and finding the maximum density of a set of integers with missing differences. We precisely determine the domination ratio of the integer distance graph $Γ(\mathbb{Z},\{1,2,\ldots,d-2,s\})$ for any integers $d$ and $s$ satisfying $d\ge2$ and $s\notin[0,d-2]$…
Given a digraph $D=(V,A)$, a set $B\subset V$ is a packing set in $D$ if there are no arcs joining vertices of $B$ and for any two vertices $x,y\in B$ the sets of in-neighbors of $x$ and $y$ are disjoint. The set $S$ is a dominating set (an open dominating set) in $D$ if every vertex not in $S$ (in $V$) has an in-neighbor in $S$. Moreover, a dominating set $S$ is called a total dominating set if the subgraph induced by $S$ has no isolated vertices. The packing sets of maximum cardinality and the (total, open) dominating sets of minimum cardinality in digraphs are studied in this article. We pr…
A dominating (respectively, total dominating) set $S$ of a digraph $D$ is a set of vertices in $D$ such that the union of the closed (respectively, open) out-neighborhoods of vertices in $S$ equals the vertex set of $D$. The minimum size of a dominating (respectively, total dominating) set of $D$ is the domination (respectively, total domination) number of $D$, denoted $γ(D)$ (respectively,$γ_t(D)$). The maximum number of pairwise disjoint closed (respectively, open) in-neighborhoods of $D$ is denoted by $ρ(D)$ (respectively,$ρ^{\rm o}(D)$). We prove that in digraphs whose underlying graphs hav…
Let $G=(V,A)$ be a digraph and $k\ge 1$ an integer. For $u,v\in V$, we say that the vertex $u$ distance $k$-dominate $v$ if the distance from $u$ to $v$ at most $k$. A set $D$ of vertices in $G$ is a distance $k$-dominating set if for each vertex of $V\setminus D$ is distance $k$-dominated by some vertex of $D$. The {\em distance $k$-domination number} of $G$, denoted by $γ_{k}(G)$, is the minimum cardinality of a distance $k$-dominating set of $G$. Generalized de Bruijn digraphs $G_B(n,d)$ and generalized Kautz digraphs $G_K(n,d)$ are good candidates for interconnection networks. Tian and Xu …
Assume that D is a digraph without cyclic triangles and its vertices are partitioned into classes A_1,...,A_t of independent vertices. A set $U=\cup_{i\in S} A_i$ is called a dominating set of size |S| if for any vertex $v\in \cup_{i\notin S} A_i$ there is a w in U such that (w,v) is in E(D). Let beta(D) be the cardinality of the largest independent set of D whose vertices are from different partite classes of D. Our main result says that there exists a h=h(beta(D)) such that D has a dominating set of size at most h. This result is applied to settle a problem related to generalized Gallai colo…
An arc-coloured digraph $D$ is said to be \emph{rainbow connected} if for every two vertices $u$ and $v$ there is an $uv$-path all whose arcs have different colours. The minimun number of colours required to make the digraph rainbow connected is called the \emph{rainbow connection number} of $D$, denoted $\stackrel{\rightarrow}{rc}(D)$. In \cite{Dorbec} it was showed that if $T$ is a strong tournament with $n\geq 5$ vertices, then $2\leq \stackrel{\rightarrow}{rc}(T)\leq n-1$; and that for every $n$ and $k$ such that $3\leq k\leq n-1$, there exists a tournament $T$ on $n$ vertices such that $\…
We consider the Erdős-Rényi random directed graph process, which is a stochastic process that starts with $n$ vertices and no edges, and at each step adds one new directed edge chosen uniformly at random from the set of missing edges. Let $\mathcal{D}(n,m)$ be a graph with $m$ edges obtained after $m$ steps of this process. Each edge $e_i$ ($i=1,2,\ldots, m$) of $\mathcal{D}(n,m)$ independently chooses a colour, taken uniformly at random from a given set of $n(1 + O( \log \log n / \log n)) = n (1+o(1))$ colours. We stop the process prematurely at time $M$ when the following two events hold: $\…
The concept of majority domination in graphs has been defined in at least two different ways: As a function and as a set. In this work we extend the latter concept to digraphs, while the former was extended in another paper. Given a digraph $D=(V,A),$ a set $S\subseteq V$ is a \textit{majority out-dominating set} (MODS) of $D$ if $|N^+[S]|\geq \frac {n}{2}.$ The minimum cardinality of a MODS in $D$ is the {\it set majority out-domination number} $γ^+_{m}(D)$ of $D.$ In this work we introduce these concepts and prove some results about them, among which the characterization of minimal MODSs.
A dominating set $D$ in a digraph is a set of vertices such that every vertex is either in $D$ or has an in-neighbour in $D$. A dominating set $D$ of a digraph is locating-dominating if every vertex not in $D$ has a unique set of in-neighbours within $D$. The location-domination number $γ_L(G)$ of a digraph $G$ is the smallest size of a locating-dominating set of $G$. We investigate upper bounds on $γ_L(G)$ in terms of the order of $G$. We characterize those digraphs with location-domination number equal to the order or the order minus one. Such digraphs always have many twins: vertices with t…
For a digraph $G$ and $v \in V(G)$, let $δ^+(v)$ be the number of out-neighbors of $v$ in $G$. The Caccetta-Häggkvist conjecture states that for all $k \ge 1$, if $G$ is a digraph with $n = |V(G)|$ such that $δ^+(v) \ge k$ for all $v \in V(G)$, then G contains a directed cycle of length at most $\lceil n/k \rceil$. In [2], Aharoni proposes a generalization of this conjecture, that a simple edge-colored graph on $n$ vertices with $n$ color classes, each of size $k$, has a rainbow cycle of length at most $\lceil n/k \rceil$. In this paper, we prove this conjecture if each color class has size $Ω…
We derive the asymptotic distribution of the domination number of a new family of random digraph called proximity catch digraph (PCD), which has application to statistical testing of spatial point patterns and to pattern recognition. The PCD we use is a parametrized digraph based on two sets of points on the plane, where sample size and locations of the elements of one is held fixed, while the sample size of the other whose elements are randomly distributed over a region of interest goes to infinity. PCDs are constructed based on the relative allocation of the random set of points with respect…
At least two different notions have been published under the name "majority domination in graphs": Majority dominating functions and majority dominating sets. In this work we extend the former concept to digraphs. Given a digraph $D=(V,A),$ a function $f : V \rightarrow \{-1,1\}$ such that $f(N^+[v])\geq1$ for at least half of the vertices $v$ in $V$ is a majority out-dominating function (MODF) of $D.$ The weight of a MODF $f$ is $w(f)=\sum\limits_{v\in V}f(v),$ and the minimum weight of a MODF in $D$ is the majority out-domination number of $D,$ denoted $γ^+_{maj}(D).$ In this work we introdu…
Let $G=(V,A)$ be a directed graph without parallel arcs, and let $S\subseteq V$ be a set of vertices. Let the sequence $S=S_0\subseteq S_1\subseteq S_2\subseteq\cdots$ be defined as follows: $S_1$ is obtained from $S_0$ by adding all out-neighbors of vertices in $S_0$. For $k\geqslant 2$, $S_k$ is obtained from $S_{k-1}$ by adding all vertices $w$ such that for some vertex $v\in S_{k-1}$, $w$ is the unique out-neighbor of $v$ in $V\setminus S_{k-1}$. We set $M(S)=S_0\cup S_1\cup\cdots$, and call $S$ a \emph{power dominating set} for $G$ if $M(S)=V(G)$. The minimum cardinality of such a set is …
For an arc-colored digraph $D$, define its {\em kernel by rainbow paths} to be a set $S$ of vertices such that (i) no two vertices of $S$ are connected by a rainbow path in $D$, and (ii) every vertex outside $S$ can reach $S$ by a rainbow path in $D$. In this paper, we show that it is NP-complete to decide whether an arc-colored tournament has a kernel by rainbow paths, where a {\em tournament} is an orientation of a complete graph. In addition, we show that every arc-colored $n$-vertex tournament with all its strongly connected $k$-vertex subtournaments, $3\leq k\leq n$, colored with at least…
In this paper we initialize the study of independent domination in directed graphs. We show that an independent dominating set of an orientation of a graph is also an independent dominating set of the underlying graph, but that the converse is not true in general. We then prove existence and uniqueness theorems for several classes of digraphs including orientations of complete graphs, paths, trees, DAGs, cycles, and bipartite graphs. We also provide the idomatic number for special cases of some of these families of digraphs.
A vertex u of a graph t-dominates a vertex v if there are at most t vertices different from u,v that are adjacent to v and not to u; and a graph is t-dominating if for every pair of distinct vertices, one of them t-dominates the other. Our main result says that if a graph is t-dominating, then it is close (in an appropriate sense) to being 0-dominating. We also show that an analogous statement for digraphs is false; and discuss some connections with the Erdos-Hajnal conjecture.
Let $T_{n}$ be an arc-colored tournament of order $n$. The maximum monochromatic indegree $Δ^{-mon}(T_{n})$ (resp. outdegree $Δ^{+mon}(T_{n})$) of $T_{n}$ is the maximum number of in-arcs (resp. out-arcs) of a same color incident to a vertex of $T_{n}$. The irregularity $i(T_{n})$ of $T_{n}$ is the maximum difference between the indegree and outdegree of a vertex of $T_{n}$. A subdigraph $H$ of an arc-colored digraph $D$ is called rainbow if each pair of arcs in $H$ have distinct colors. In this paper, we show that each vertex $v$ in an arc-colored tournament $T_{n}$ with $Δ^{-mon}(T_n)\leqΔ^{…
Let $D=(V,A)$ be a digraph. A subset $S$ of $V$ is called a twin dominating set of $D$ if for every vertex $v\in V-S$, there exists vertices $u_1,u_2 \in S$ such that $(v,u_1)$ and $(u_2,v)$ are arcs in $D$. The minimum cardinality of a twin dominating set in $D$ is called the twin domination number of $D$ and is denoted by $γ^{*}(D)$. The upper orientable twin domination number of a graph $G$ is $DOM^{*}(G)=\max\{ γ^{*}(D)|D \ \text{is an orientation of G} \}.$ It has been conjectured that for the complete graph $K_n$ with $n\geq 8$, $DOM^{*}(K_n)=\left\lceil \frac{n+1}{2}\right\rceil$. In th…
An Italian dominating function on a digraph $D$ with vertex set $V(D)$ is defined as a function $f : V(D) \rightarrow \{0, 1, 2\}$ such that every vertex $v \in V(D)$ with $f(v) = 0$ has at least two in-neighbors assigned $1$ under $f$ or one in-neighbor $w$ with $f(w) = 2$. In this paper, we determine the exact values of the Italian domination numbers of some products of directed cycles.
We study the eternal dominating number and the m-eternal dominating number on digraphs. We generalize known results on graphs to digraphs. We also consider the problem "oriented (m-)eternal domination", consisting in finding an orientation of a graph that minimizes its eternal dominating number. We prove that computing the oriented eternal dominating number is NP-hard and characterize the graphs for which the oriented m-eternal dominating number is 2. We also study these two parameters on trees, cycles, complete graphs, complete bipartite graphs, trivially perfect graphs and different kinds of…
An \textit{Italian dominating function} on a digraph $D$ with vertex set $V(D)$ is defined as a function $f : V(D) \rightarrow \{0, 1, 2\}$ such that every vertex $v \in V(D)$ with $f(v) = 0$ has at least two in-neighbors assigned $1$ under $f$ or one in-neighbor $w$ with $f(w) = 2$. The \textit{weight} of an Italian dominating function $f$ is the value $ω(f) = f(V(D)) = \sum_{u \in V(D)} f(u)$. The \textit{Italian domination number} of a digraph $D$, denoted by $γ_I(D)$, is the minimum taken over the weights of all Italian dominating functions on $D$. The \textit{Italian bondage number} of a …
