The original proof of the Ferguson--Lacey theorem contains a serious error. Although my paper describes how to circumvent the use of the Ferguson--Lacey result, the associated revisions to make this a proper and correct paper are beyond my current schedule. Until I've had time to make a proper revision, I will withdraw the paper
This note contains two simple observations. First, by the weak factorization of product $H^1$ (Ferguson--Lacey, Lacey--Terwilleger), we obtain a multi-parameter analogue of Hardy's inequality. Second, as a dual statement, the Fourier transform of an essentially bounded function belongs to a certain product $\mathrm{BMO}$-Sobolev space.
We prove a fractional version of the Hardy--Sobolev--Maz'ya inequality for arbitrary domains and $L^p$ norms with $p\geq 2$. This inequality combines the fractional Sobolev and the fractional Hardy inequality into a single inequality, while keeping the sharp constant in the Hardy inequality.
In this paper we study various forms of the Hardy inequality for Dunkl operators, including the classical inequality, $L^p$ inequalities, an improved Hardy inequality, as well as the Rellich inequality and a special case of the Caffarelli-Kohn-Nirenberg inequality. As a consequence, one-dimensional many-particle Hardy inequalities for generalised root systems are proved, which in the particular case of root systems $A_{N-1}$ improve some well-known results.
We give a direct proof of fractional Hardy inequality by means of Littlewood-Paley decomposition and properties of singular homogeneous kernels of degree -$d$. A refinement when $q>2$ is proved.
Using elementary techniques, we prove sharp anisotropic Hardy-Littlewood inequalities for positive multilinear forms. In particular, we recover an inequality proved by F. Bayart in 2018.
We revisit Hardy's inequality in the scope of regular Dirichlet forms following an analytical method. We shall give an alternative necessary and sufficient condition for the occurrence of Hardy's inequality. A special emphasis will be given for the case where the Dirichlet form under consideration is strongly local, extending therefore some known results in the Euclidean case.
The Hardy-Littlewood-Pólya inequality of majorization is extended to the framework of ordered Banach spaces. Several applications illustrating our main results are also included.
In this paper, we study the asymptotic behaviour of the sharp constant in discrete Hardy and Rellich inequality on the lattice $\mathbb{Z}^d$ as $d \rightarrow \infty$. In the process, we proved some Hardy-type inequalities for the operators $Δ^m$ and $\nabla(Δ^m)$ for non-negative integers $m$ on a $d$ dimensional torus. It turns out that the sharp constant in discrete Hardy and Rellich inequality grows as $d$ and $d^2$ respectively as $ d \rightarrow \infty$.
The Hardy--Littlewood inequality for $m$-homogeneous polynomials on $\ell_{p}$ spaces is valid for $p>m.$ In this note, among other results, we present an optimal version of this inequality for the case $p=m.$ We also show that the optimal constant, when restricted to the case of $2$-homogeneous polynomials on $\ell_{2}(\mathbb{R}^{2})$ is precisely $2$. In an Appendix we justify why, curiously, the optimal exponents of the Hardy--Littlewood inequality do not behave smoothly.
In this note we present a version of Hardy's inequality on a measure space $(X,μ)$ endowed with a measurable function $N\colon X\to \mathbb R$ which replaces the absolute value on $\mathbb R$ or $\mathbb R^n$, and, more generally, the distance function from a given point when $X$ is a metric space.
In this paper, using blow-up analysis, we prove a singular Hardy-Morser-Trudinger inequality, and find its extremal functions. Our results extend those of Wang-Ye (Adv. Math. 2012), Yang-Zhu ( Ann. Glob. Anal. Geom. 2016), Csató- Roy (Calc. Var. 2015), and Yang-Zhu (J. Funct. Anal. 2017).
\begin{abstract} For the Hardy space $H^p(\mathbb{R}^{d})$, $ 0<p\leq 1,$ we shall improve a Hardy's type inequality associated with Dunkl transform respect to the measures $dμ_{k}$ homogeneous of degree $γ,$ on the strip $(2γ+d)(2-p)\leqσ<2γ+d+p(N+1),$ where $N =[(2γ+d)(1/p-1)]$ is the greatest integer not exceeding $(2γ+d)(1/ p -1).$ \end{abstract}
We extend ideas of Garling to consider the so called Hardy martingales in a more general setting of H^p theory of compact abelian groups with ordered dual. As a consequence, we obtain a new proof of a result of Helson and Lowdenslager which generalizes Jensen's Inequality for H^1 functions.
We derive a number of equivalent criterions for the variable exponent Hardy type inequality |\frac{1}{x}\int_{0}^{x}f(t)dt|_{L^{p(.)}(0,1)}\leq C|f|_{L^{p(.)}(0,1)}; f\geq 0. to hold, whenever the exponent $p:(0,1)\to (1,\infty)$ is increasing or decreasing near small neighborhood of the origin.
In this paper, we prove several new Hardy type inequalities (such as the weighted Hardy inequality, weighted Rellich inequality, critical Hardy inequality and critical Rellich inequality) for radial derivations (i.e., the derivation along the geodesic curve) on Cartan--Hadamard manifolds. By Gauss lemma, our new Hardy inequality are stronger than the classical one. We also established the improvements of these inequalities in terms of sectional curvature of underlying manifolds which illustrate the effect of curvature to these inequalities. Furthermore, we obtain some improvements of Hardy and…
We present an easy proof that $p$--Hardy's inequality implies uniform $p$--fatness of the boundary when $p=n$. The proof works also in metric space setting and demonstrates the self--improving phenomenon of the $p$--fatness. We also explore the relationship between $p$-fatness, $p$-Hardy inequality, and the uniform perfectness for all $p\ge 1$, and demonstrate that in the Ahlfors $Q$-regular metric measure space setting with $p=Q$, these three properties are equivalent.
In this paper we focus our attention on an embedding result for a weighted Sobolev space that involves as weight the distance function from the boundary taken with respect to a general smooth gauge function $F$. Starting from this type of inequalities we prove some refined Hardy-type inequalities.
In this short note we obtain new lower bounds for the constants of the real Hardy--Littlewood inequality for $m$-linear forms on $\ell_{p}^{2}$ spaces when $p=2m$ and for certain values of $m$. The real and complex cases for the general case $\ell_{p}^{n}$ were recently investigated by G. Araujo et al. When $n=2$ our results improve the best known estimates for these constants.
In this paper, a new two-dimensional Hardy type inequality is given in terms of pseudo-analysis dealing with set-valued functions. The first one is given for a pseudo-integral of set-valued function where pseudo-addition and pseudo-multiplication are constructed by a monotone continuous function $g:[0, \infty ]\to[0, \infty]$. Another is given by the semiring $([0, 1], \max, \odot)$ where pseudo-multiplication is generated by an increasing continuous function.
We prove a sharp integral inequality that generalizes the well known Hardy type integral inequality for negative exponents. We also give sharp applications in two directions for Muckenhoupt weights on R. This work refines the results that appear in [9].
The best known upper estimates for the constants of the Hardy--Littlewood inequality for $m$-linear forms on $\ell_{p}$ spaces are of the form $\left(\sqrt{2}\right) ^{m-1}.$ We present better estimates which depend on $p$ and $m$. An interesting consequence is that if $p\geq m^{2}$ then the constants have a subpolynomial growth as $m$ tends to infinity.
We prove a sharp integral inequality valid for non-negative functions defined on $[0,1]$, with given $L^1$ norm. This is in fact a generalization of the well known integral Hardy inequality. We prove it as a consequence of the respective weighted discrete analogue inequality which proof is presented in this paper. As an application we find the exact best possible range of $p>q$ such that any non-increasing $f$ which satisfies a reverse Hölder inequality with exponent $q$ and constant $c$ upon the subintervals of $[0,1]$, should additionally satisfy a reverse Hölder inequality with exponent $p$…
In this paper we describe the Euler semigroup $\{e^{-t\mathbb{E}^{*}\mathbb{E}}\}_{t>0}$ on homogeneous Lie groups, which allows us to obtain various types of the Hardy-Sobolev and Gagliardo-Nirenberg type inequalities for the Euler operator $\mathbb{E}$. Moreover, the sharp remainder terms of the Sobolev type inequality, maximal Hardy inequality and $|\cdot|$-radial weighted Hardy-Sobolev type inequality are established.
In this paper we study an extension problem for the Laplace-Beltrami operator on Riemannian symmetric spaces of noncompact type and use the solution to prove Hardy-type inequalities for fractional powers of the Laplace-Beltrami operator. Next, we study the mapping properties of the extension operator. In the last part we prove Poincaré-Sobolev inequalities on these spaces.
We investigate connections between Hardy's inequality in the whole space $\mathbb{R}^n$ and embedding inequalities for Sobolev-Lorentz spaces. In particular, we complete previous results due to [A. Alvino, Sulla diseguaglianza di Sobolev in spazi di Lorentz, (1977)] and [G. Talenti, An inequality between $u^*$ and $|{\rm{grad}} u^*|$, (1992)] by establishing optimal embedding inequalities for the Sobolev-Lorentz quasinorm $\|\nabla\,\cdot\,\|_{p,q}$ also in the range $p < q<\infty$, which remained essentially open since the work of Alvino. Attainability of the best embedding constants is also …
We use different approaches to study a generalization of a result of Levin and Stečkin concerning an inequality analogous to Hardy's inequality. Our results lead naturally to the study of weighted remainder form of Hardy-type inequalities.
In this note besides two abstract versions of the Vitali Covering Lemma an abstract Hardy-Littlewood Maximal Inequality, generalizing weak type (1,1) maximal function inequality, associated to any outer measure and a family of subsets on a set is introduced. The inequality is (effectively) satisfied if and only if a special numerical constant called Hardy-Littelwood maximal constant is finite. Two general sufficient conditions for the finiteness of this constant are given and upper bounds for this constant associated to the family of (centered) balls in homogeneous spaces, family of dyadic cub…
We prove a generalization of a Hardy type inequality for negative exponents valid for non-negative functions defined on $(0,1]$. As an application we find the exact best possible range of $p$ such that $1<p\le q$ such that any non-decreasing $ϕ$ which satisfies the Muckenhoupt $A_q$ condition with constant $c$ upon all open subintervals of $(0,1]$ should additionally satisfy the $A_p$ condition for another possibly real constant $c'$. The result have been treated in \cite{9} based on \cite{1}, but we give in this paper an alternative proof which relies on the above mentioned inequality.
In this paper, we estimate an operator norm of dilation operators on block spaces ($\mathfrak{B}_{r,α}(\mathbb{Q}_p)$) over $p$-adic field. With this estimate, we establish the boundedness of $p$-adic Hardy-Hilbert type integral operator on $\mathfrak{B}_{r,α}(\mathbb{Q}_p)$. Moreover as application to our result, we obtain the $p$-adic Hilbert inequality, $p$-adic Hardy inequality and $p$-adic Hardy-Littlewood-Pólya inequality on $\mathfrak{B}_{r,α}(\mathbb{Q}_p)$.
In this paper, we study the best constant of the following discrete Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality, \begin{equation} \sum_{i,j,i\neq j}\frac{f_{i}g_{j}}{\mid i-j\mid^{n-α}}\leq C_{r,s,α} |f|_{l^r} |g|_{l^s}, \end{equation}where $i,j\in \mathbb Z^n$, $r,s>1$, $0<α<n$, and $\frac 1r+\frac 1s+\frac {n-α}n\geq 2$. Indeed, we can prove that the best constant is attainable in the supercritical case $\frac 1r+\frac 1s+\frac {n-α}n> 2$.
We prove a critical Hardy inequality on the half-space by using the harmonic transplantation. Also we give an improvement of the subcritical Hardy inequality on the half-space, which converges to the critical Hardy inequality. Sobolev type inequalities are also discussed.
In this article, we give a short proof of Hardy's inequality for Hermite expansions of functions in the classical Hardy spaces $H^p({\mathbb R^n})$, by using an atomic decomposition of the Hardy spaces associated with the Hermite operators. When the space dimension is $1$, we obtain a new estimate of Hardy's inequality for Hermite expansions in $H^p({\mathbb R})$ for the range $0<p<1.$
The Hardy-Littlewood-Polya inequality of majorization is extended for the ω-m-star-convex functions to the framework of ordered Banach spaces. Several open problems which seem of interest for further extensions of the Hardy-Littlewood-Polya inequality are also included.
The Hardy-Rellich inequality given here generalizes a Hardy inequality of Davies (1984), from the case of the Dirichlet Laplacian of a region $Ω\subseteq\real^N$ to that of the higher order polyharmonic operators with Dirichlet boundary conditions. The inequality yields some immediate spectral information for the polyharmonic operators and also bounds on the trace of the associated semigroups and resolvents.
A method of proving Hardy's type inequality for orthogonal expansions is presented in a rather general setting. Then sharp multi-dimensional Hardy's inequality associated with the Laguerre functions of convolution type is proved for type index $\al\in[-1/2,\infty)^d$. The case of the standard Laguerre functions is also investigated. Moreover, the sharp analogues of Hardy's type inequality involving $L^1$ norms in place of $H^1$ norms are obtained in both settings.
We give improvements and generalizations of both the classical Hardy inequality and the geometric Hardy inequality based on the divergence theorem. Especially, our improved Hardy type inequality derives both two Hardy type inequalities with best constants. Besides, we improve two Rellich type inequalities by using the improved Hardy type inequality.
We present the best constant and the existence of extremal functions for an Improved Hardy-Sobolev inequality. We prove that, under a proper transformation, this inequality is equivalent to the Sobolev inequality in $\mathbb{R}^N$. We also discuss the connection of the related functional spaces and as a result we obtain some Caffarelli - Kohn - Nirenberg inequalities. Our starting point is the existence of a minimizer for the Bliss' inequality and the indirect dependence of the Hardy inequality at the origin.
We prove fractional Hardy--Sobolev--Maz'ya inequality for balls and a half-space, partially answering the open problem posed by Frank and Seiringer [arXiv:0906.1561v1 [math.FA], 2009] We note that for half-spaces this inequality has been recently obtained by Sloane [arXiv:1004.4828v1 [math.FA], 2010].
We obtain new variants of weighted Gagliardo-Nirenberg interpolation inequalities in Orlicz spaces, as a consequence of weighted Hardy-type inequalities. The weights we consider need not be doubling.
In this article, we derive the existence of positive solutions of a semi-linear, non-local elliptic PDE, involving a singular perturbation of the fractional laplacian, coming from the fractional Hardy-Sobolev-Maz'ya inequality, derived in this paper. We also derive symmetry properties and a precise asymptotic behaviour of solutions.
In this paper, the classical Dellacherie's theorem about stochastic process is extended to variable exponent Lebesgue spaces. As its applications, we obtain variable exponent analogues of several famous inequalities in classical martingale theory, including convexity lemma, Burkholder-Gundy-Davis' inequality and Chevalier's inequality. Moreover, we investigate some other equivalent relations between variable exponent martingale Hardy spaces.
The main aim of this paper to provide several scales of equivalent conditions for the bilinear Hardy inequalities in the case $1< q, p_1, p_2<\infty$ with $q \geq \max(p_1,p_2)$.
We prove a characterization of Hardy's inequality in Sobolev-Slobodecki\uı spaces in terms of positive local weak supersolutions of the relevant Euler-Lagrange equation. This extends previous results by Ancona and Kinnunen & Korte for standard Sobolev spaces. The proof is based on variational methods.
For the fractional Laplacian we give Hardy inequality which is optimal in $L^p$ for $1<p<\infty$. As an application, we explicitly characterize the contractivity of the corresponding Feynman-Kac semigroups on $L^p$.
The classical Hardy inequality holds in Sobolev spaces $W_0^{1,p}$ when $1\le p< N$. In the limiting case where $p=N$, it is known that by adding a logarithmic function to the Hardy potential, some inequality which is called the critical Hardy inequality holds in $W_0^{1,N}$. In this note, in order to give an explanation of appearance of the logarithmic function at the potential, we derive the logarithmic function from the classical Hardy inequality with the best constant via some limiting procedure as $p \nearrow N$. And we show that our limiting procedure is also available for the classical …
We show that the sharp constant in the Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality can be derived using the method that we employed earlier for a similar inequality on the Heisenberg group. The merit of this proof is that it does not rely on rearrangement inequalities; it is the first one to do so for the whole parameter range.
Hardy's inequality on $H^p$ spaces, $p\in(0,1]$, in the context of orthogonal expansions is investigated for general basis on a subset of $\mathbb{R}^d$ with Lebesgue measure. The obtained result is applied to various Hermite, Laguerre, and Jacobi expansions. For that purpose some delicate estimates of the higher order derivatives for the underlying functions and of the associated heat kernels are proved. Moreover, sharpness of studied Hardy's inequalities is justified by a construction of an explicit counterexample, which is adjusted to all considered settings.
We prove a one-dimensional Hardy inequality on the halfline with sharp constant, which improves the classical form of this inequality. As a consequence of this new inequality we can rederive known doubly weighted Hardy inequalities. Our motivation comes from the theory of Schrödinger operators and we explain the use of Hardy inequalities in that context.
We obtain the sharp constant for the Hardy-Sobolev inequality involving the distance to the origin. This inequality is equivalent to a limiting Caffarelli-Kohn-Nirenberg inequality. In three dimensions, in certain cases the sharp constant coincides with the best Sobolev constant.
