In this paper, we give a description of holomorphic multi-vector fields on smooth compact toric varieties, which generalizes Demazure's result of holomorphic vector fields on toric varieties. Based on the result, we compute the Poisson cohomology groups of holomorphic toric Poisson manifolds, i.e., toric varieties endowed with $T$-invariant holomorphic Poisson structures.
A holomorphic toric Poisson manifold is a nonsingular toric variety equipped with a holomorphic Poisson structure, which is invariant under the torus action. In this paper, we computed the Poisson cohomology groups for all holomorphic toric Poisson structures on $CP^n$, with the stand Poisson structure on $CP^n$ as a special case. We also computed the algebraic and the formal Poisson cohomology groups of holomorphic toric Poisson structures on $C^n$.
We prove that the equivariant big quantum cohomology QH^*_T(E) of the total space of a toric bundle E \to B converges provided that the big quantum cohomology QH^*(B) converges. The proof is based on Brown's mirror theorem for toric bundles. It has been observed by Coates, Givental and Tseng that the quantum connection of E splits into copies of that of B. Under the assumption that QH^*(B) is convergent, we construct a decomposition of the quantum D-module of E into a direct sum of that of B, which is analytic with respect to parameters of QH^*_T(E). In particular, we obtain an analytic decomp…
In this paper, we give an explicit description of holomorphic polyvector fields on smooth compact toric varieties, which generalizes Demazure's result of holomorphic vector fields on toric varieties.
For an affine toric variety $\mathrm{Spec}(A)$, we give a convex geometric description of the Hodge decomposition of its Hochschild cohomology. Under certain assumptions we compute the dimensions of the Hodge summands $T^1_{(i)}(A)$, generalizing the existing results about the Andre-Quillen cohomology group $T^1_{(1)}(A)$. We prove that every Poisson structure on a possibly singular affine toric variety can be quantized in the sense of deformation quantization.
We describe the quantum cohomology ring of a toric Fano variety $X$ in terms of the usual topological cohomology ring for an auxiliary infinite-dimensional scheme. This scheme is a part of an algebro-geometric model for the universal cover of the space of free loops with values in $X$.
The vector space of holomorphic polyvector fields on any complex manifold has a natural Gerstenhaber algebra structure. In this paper, we study BV operators of the Gerstenhaber algebras of holomorphic polyvector fields on smooth compact toric varieties. We give a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of BV operators of the Gerstenhaber algebra of holomorphic polyvector fields on any smooth compact toric variety.
We define the notion of a holomorphic bundle on the noncommutative toric orbifold $T_θ/G$ associated with an action of a finite cyclic group $G$ on an irrational rotation algebra. We prove that the category of such holomorphic bundles is abelian and its derived category is equivalent to the derived category of modules over a finite-dimensional algebras $Λ$. As an application we finish the computation of $K_0$-groups of the crossed product algebras describing the above orbifolds initiated by Kumjian, Walters and Buck. Also, we describe a torsion pair in the category of $Λ$-modules, such that th…
In this paper we construct a spectral sequence computing a modified version of morphic cohomology of a toric variety (even when it is singular) in terms of combinatorial data coming from the fan of the toric variety.
We identify a certain universal Landau-Ginzburg model as a mirror of the big equivariant quantum cohomology of a (not necessarily compact or semipositive) toric manifold. The mirror map and the primitive form are constructed via Seidel elements and shift operators for equivariant quantum cohomology. Primitive forms in non-equivariant theory are identified up to automorphisms of the mirror.
We study the Fulton-Macpherson Chow cohomology of affine toric varieties. In particular, we prove that the Chow cohomology vanishes in positive degree. We prove an analogous result for the operational $K$-theory defined by Anderson and Payne.
We explain a method for calculating the cohomology of line bundles on a toric variety in terms of the cohomology of certain constructible sheaves on the polytope. We show its effective use by means of some examples.
We compute the cohomology rings of smooth real toric varieties and of real toric spaces, which are quotients of real moment-angle complexes by freely acting subgroups of the ambient 2-torus. The differential graded algebra we present is in fact an equivariant dga model, valid for arbitrary coefficients. We deduce from our description that smooth toric varieties are M-varieties.
We explicitly describe cohomology of the sheaf of differential forms with poles along a semiample divisor on a complete simplicial toric variety. As an application, we obtain a new vanishing theorem which is an analogue of the Bott-Steenbrink-Danilov vanishing theorem.
We describe the weight filtration in the cohomology of toric varieties. We present a role of the Frobenius automorphism in an elementary way. We prove that equivariant intersection homology of an arbitrary toric variety is pure. We obtain results concerning Koszul duality: nonequivariant intersection cohomology is equal to the cohomology of the Koszul complex $IH_T^*(X)\otimes H^*(T)$. We also describe the weight filtration in $IH^*(X)$.
Using the homogeneous coordinate ring construction of a toric variety IP defined by a complete simplicial fan and the methods of local cohomology theory we develop a framework for the calculation of cohomology groups H^{*}(IP, O(p)) of twisting sheaves O(p) on IP.
Let $\mathcal{O}(D)$ be an equivariant line bundle which is big and nef on a complex projective nonsingular toric variety $X$. Given a continuous toric metric $\|\cdot\|$ on $\mathcal{O}(D)$, we define the energy at equilibrium of $(X,ϕ_{\bar{D}})$ where $ϕ_{\bar{D}}$ is the weight of the metrized toric divisor $\bar{D}=(D,\|\cdot\|)$. We show that this energy describes the asymptotic behaviour as $k\rightarrow \infty$ of the volume of the $L^2$-norm unit ball induced by $(X,kϕ_{\bar{D}})$ on the space of global holomorphic sections $H^0(X,\mathcal{O}(kD))$.
We show that the equivariant Chow cohomology ring of a toric variety is naturally isomorphic to the ring of integral piecewise polynomial functions on the associated fan. This gives a large class of singular spaces for which localization holds in equivariant Chow cohomology with integer coefficients. We also compute the equivariant Chow cohomology of toric prevarieties and general complex hypertoric varieties in terms of piecewise polynomial functions.
The mirror of a projective toric manifold $X_Σ$ is given by a Landau-Ginzburg model $(Y,W)$. We introduce a class of Lagrangian submanifolds in $(Y,W)$ and show that, under the SYZ mirror transformation, they can be transformed to torus-invariant hermitian metrics on holomorphic line bundles over $X_Σ$. Through this geometric correspondence, we also identify the mirrors of Hermitian-Einstein metrics, which are given by distinguished Lagrangian sections whose potentials satisfy certain Laplace-type equations.
We compare the cohomology ring of the flag variety $FL_n$ and the Chow cohomology ring of the Gelfand-Zetlin toric variety $X_{GZ}$. We show that $H^*(FL_n, \mathbb{Q})$ is the Gorenstein quotient of the subalgebra $L$ of $A^*(X_{GZ}, \mathbb{Q})$ generated by degree $1$ elements. We compute these algebras for $n=3$ to see that, in general, the subalgebra $L$ does not have Poincare duality.
In this paper, we define two numbers. One comes from counting tropical curves with a stop and the other is the number of holomorphic discs in toric varieties with Lagrangian boundary condition. Both of these curves should satisfy some matching conditions. We show that these numbers coincide. These numbers can be considered as Gromov-Witten type invariants for holomorphic discs, and they have both similarities and differences to the counting numbers of closed holomorphic curves. We study several aspects of them.
We introduce extended toric Deligne-Mumford stacks. We use an extended toric Deligne-Mumford stack to get the toric stack bundle and compute its orbifold Chow ring. Finally we generalize one result of Borisov, Chen and Smith so that the orbifold Chow ring of the toric stack bundle and the Chow ring of its crepant resolution are fibres of a flat family.
We study Givental's Lagrangian cone for the quantum orbifold cohomology of toric stack bundles and prove that the I-function gives points in the Lagrangian cone, namely we construct an explicit slice of the Lagrangian cone defined by the genus $0$ Gromov-Witten theory of a toric stack bundle.
In this article we study the equivariant elliptic cohomology of complex toric varieties. We prove a partial reconstruction theorem showing that equivariant elliptic cohomology encodes considerable non-trivial information on the equivariant 1-skeleton of a toric variety X (although it stops short of being a complete invariant of its GKM graphs). Elliptic cohomology is supposed to encode higher categorical geometric data, and proposals have been made linking elliptic cocycles to categorified bundles. In particular, contrary to ordinary cohomology and K-theory, elliptic cohomology is expected not…
We study the local cohomology modules H^i_B(R) for a reduced monomial ideal B in a polynomial ring R=k[X_1,...,X_n]. We consider a grading on R which is coarser than the Z^n-grading such that each component of H^i_B(R) is finite dimensional and we give an effective way to compute these components. Using Cox's description for sheaves on toric varieties, we apply these results to compute the cohomology of coherent sheaves on toric varieties. We give algorithms for this computation which have been implemented in the Macaulay 2 system. We obtain also a topological description for the cohomology of…

We reproduce the quantum cohomology of toric varieties (and of some hypersurfaces in projective spaces) as the cohomology of certain vertex algebras with differential. The deformation technique allows us to compute the cohomology of the chiral de Rham complex over the projective space.
Let S be a toric algebra over a field K of characteristic 0 and let I be a monomial ideal of S. We show that the local cohomology modules H^i_I(S) are of finite length over the ring of differential operators D(S;K), generalizing the classical case of a polynomial algebra S. As an application, we compute the characteristic cycles of some local cohomology modules.
We compute the quantum cohomology ring $H^*_φ({\bf P}, {\bf C})$ of an arbitrary $d$-dimensional smooth projective toric manifold ${\bf P}_Σ$ associated with a fan $Σ$. The multiplicative structure of $H^*_φ({\bf P}_Σ, {\bf C})$ depends on the choice of an element $avarphi$ in the ordinary cohomology group $H^2({\bf P}_Σ, {\bf C})$. There are many properties of the quantum cohomology rings $H^*_φ({\bf P}_Σ, {\bf C})$ which are supposed to be valid for quantum cohomology rings of Kähler manifolds
We describe explicitly the cohomology of the total complex of certain diagrams of invertible sheaves on normal toric varieties. These diagrams, called wheels, arise in the study of toric singularities associated to dimer models. Our main tool describes the generators in a family of syzygy modules associated to the wheel in terms of walks in a family of graphs.
Let X be a smooth simplicial toric variety. Let Z be the set of T-fixed points of X. We construct a filtration for A(Z), the ring of complex-valued functions on Z, such that Gr A(Z) is isomorphic to the cohomology algebra of X. This is the explanation of the general results of Carrell and Liebermann on the cohomology of T-varities, in the case of toric varieties. We give an explicit isomorphism between Gr A(Z) and Brion's description of the polytope algebra.
We introduce the notion of a \emph{conic sequence} of a convex polytope. It is a way of building up a polytope starting from a vertex and attaching faces one by one with certain regulations. We apply this to a toric variety to obtain an iterated cofibration structure on it. This allows us to prove several vanishing results in the rational cohomology of a toric variety and to calculate Poincaré polynomials for a large class of singular toric varieties.
We compute the cohomology of the complement of toric arrangements associated to root systems as representations of the corresponding Weyl groups. Specifically, we develop an algorithm for computing the cohomology of the complement of toric arrangements associated to general root systems and we carry out this computation for the exceptional root systems $G_2$, $F_4$, $E_6$ and $E_7$. We also compute the total cohomology of the complement of the toric arrangement associated to $A_n$ as a representation of the Weyl group and give a formula for its Poincaré polynomial.
We prove that the cohomology of the moduli space of morphisms of a fixed finite degree from a smooth projective curve $C$ of genus $g$ to a complete simplicial toric variety $\mathbb{P}(Σ)$, denoted by the rational polyhedral fan $Σ$, stabilizes. As an arithmetic consequence we obtain a resolution of the Batyrev-Manin conjecture for toric varieties over global function fields in all but finitely many characteristics.
Topologically, compact toric varieties can be constructed as identification spaces: they are quotients of the product of a compact torus and the order complex of the fan. We give a detailed proof of this fact, extend it to the non-compact case and draw several, mostly cohomological conclusions. In particular, we show that the equivariant integral cohomology of a toric variety can be described in terms of piecewise polynomials on the fan if the ordinary integral cohomology is concentrated in even degrees. This generalizes a result of Bahri-Franz-Ray to the non-compact case. We also investigate …
Some projective wonderful models for the complement of a toric arrangement in a n-dimensional algebraic torus T were constructed in [3]. In this paper we describe their integer cohomology rings by generators and relations.
In this paper, we will outline computations of quantum sheaf cohomology for deformations of tangent bundles of toric varieties, for those deformations describable as deformations of toric Euler sequences. Quantum sheaf cohomology is a heterotic analogue of quantum cohomology, a quantum deformation of the classical product on sheaf cohomology groups, that computes nonperturbative corrections to analogues of (27*)^3 couplings in heterotic string computations. Previous computations have relied on either physics-based GLSM techniques or computation-intensive brute-force Cech cohomology techniques.…
There is a standard method to calculate the cohomology of torus-invariant sheaves $L$ on a toric variety via the simplicial cohomology of associated subsets $V(L)$ of the space $N_{\mathbb R}$ of 1-parameter subgroups of the torus. For a line bundle $L$ represented by a formal difference $Δ^+-Δ^-$ of polyhedra in the character space $M_{\mathbb R}$, [ABKW18] contains a simpler formula for the cohomology of $L$, replacing $V(L)$ by the set-theoretic difference $Δ^- \setminus Δ^+$. Here, we provide a short and direct proof of this formula.
We give a rigorous mathematical proof for the validity of the toric sheaf cohomology algorithm conjectured in the recent paper by R. Blumenhagen, B. Jurke, T. Rahn, and H. Roschy (arXiv:1003.5217). We actually prove not only the original algorithm but also a speed-up version of it. Our proof is independent from (in fact appeared earlier on the arXiv than) the proof by H. Roschy and T. Rahn (arXiv:1006.2392), and has several advantages such as being shorter and cleaner and can also settle the additional conjecture on "Serre duality for Betti numbers" which was raised but unresolved in arXiv:100…
We compute the total cohomology of the complement of the toric arrangement associated to the root system $A_n$ as a representation of the corresponding Weyl group via fixed point theory of a "twisted" action of the group. We also provide several proofs of an explicit formula for the Poincaré polynomial of the complement of the toric arrangement associated with $A_n$.
We give a short new computation of the quantum cohomology of an arbitrary smooth toric variety $X$, by showing directly that the Kodaira-Spencer map of Fukaya-Oh-Ohta-Ono defines an isomorphism onto a suitable Jacobian ring. The proof is based on the purely algebraic fact that a class of generalised Jacobian rings associated to $X$ are free as modules over the Novikov ring. In contrast to previous results of this kind, $X$ need not be compact. When $X$ is monotone the presentation we obtain is completely explicit, using only well-known computations with the standard complex structure.
This work discusses combinatorial and arithmetic aspects of cohomology vanishing for divisorial sheaves on toric varieties. We obtain a refined variant of the Kawamata-Viehweg theorem which is slightly stronger. Moreover, we prove a new vanishing theorem related to divisors whose inverse is nef and has small Kodaira dimension. Finally, we give a new criterion for divisorial sheaves for being maximal Cohen-Macaulay.
The celebrated BKK Theorem expresses the number of roots of a system of generic Laurent polynomials in terms of the mixed volume of the corresponding system of Newton polytopes.Pukhlikov and the second author noticed that the cohomology ring of smooth projective toric varieties over $\mathbb{C}$ can be computed via the BKK Theorem. This complemented the known descriptions of the cohomology ring of toric varieties, like the one in terms of Stanley-Reisner algebras. Sankaran and Uma generalized the "Stanley-Reisner description" to the case of toric bundles, i.e. equivariant compactifications of …
The toric variety corresponding to the Coxeter fan of type A can also be described as a De Concini-Procesi wonderful model. Using a general result of Rains which relates cohomology of real De Concini-Procesi models to poset homology, we give formulas for the Betti numbers of the real toric variety, and the symmetric group representations on the rational cohomologies. We also show that the rational cohomology ring is not generated in degree 1.
We study toric varieties over a field k that split in a Galois extension K/k using Galois cohomology with coefficients in the toric automorphism group. Part of this Galois cohomology fits into an exact sequence induced by the presentation of the class group of the toric variety. This perspective helps to compute the Galois cohomology, particularly for cyclic Galois groups. We use Galois cohomology to classify k-forms of projective spaces when K/k is cyclic, and we also study k-forms of surfaces.
We study real and integral structures in the space of solutions to the quantum differential equations. First we show that, under mild conditions, any real structure in orbifold quantum cohomology yields a pure and polarized tt^*-geometry near the large radius limit. Secondly, we use mirror symmetry to calculate the "most natural" integral structure in quantum cohomology of toric orbifolds. We show that the integral structure pulled back from the singularity B-model is described only in terms of topological data in the A-model; K-group and a characteristic class. Using integral structures, we g…
In this review, novel non-standard techniques for the computation of cohomology classes on toric varieties are summarized. After an introduction of the basic definitions and properties of toric geometry, we discuss a specific computational algorithm for the determination of the dimension of line-bundle valued cohomology groups on toric varieties. Applications to the computation of chiral massless matter spectra in string compactifications are discussed and, using the software package cohomCalg, its utility is highlighted on a new target space dual pair of (0,2) heterotic string models.
Let $X_Σ$ be a smooth, not necessarily compact toric variety. We show that a certain complex, defined in terms of the fan $Σ$, computes the integral cohomology of $X_Σ$, including the module structure over the homology of the torus. In some cases we can also give the product. As a corollary we obtain that the cycle map from Chow groups to integral Borel-Moore homology is split injective for smooth toric varieties. Another result is that the differential algebra of singular cochains on the Borel construction of $X_Σ$ is formal.
We describe the singular cohomology ring, the K-ring of complex vector bundles, the Chow ring, and the Grothendieck ring of coherent sheaves of the total space of the fibre bundle with base space an irreducible nonsingular complete Noetherian scheme and fibre a nonsingular projective T-toric variety associated to a prinicipal T-bundle over the field of complex numbers.
On a symplectic manifold $M$, the quantum product defines a complex, one parameter family of flat connections called the A-model or Dubrovin connections. Let $\hbar$ denote the parameter. Associated to them is the quantum $\mathcal{D}$ - module ${\mathcal{D}}/I$ over the Heisenberg algebra of first order differential operators on a complex torus. An element of $I$ gives a relation in the quantum cohomology of $M$ by taking the limit as $\hbar\to 0$. Givental (HomGeom), discovered that there should be a structure of a $\mathcal{D}$ - module on the (as yet not rigorously defined) ${S^1}$ equivar…
