For each partition p of an integer N \geq 2, consisting of r parts, an integrable hierarchy of Lax type Hamiltonian PDE has been constructed recently by some of us. In the present paper we show that any tau-function of the p-reduced r-component KP hierarchy produces a solution of this integrable hierarchy. Along the way we provide an algorithm for the explicit construction of the generators of the corresponding classical W-algebra W(gl_N,p), and write down explicit formulas for evolution of these generators along the Hamiltonian flows.
In this paper, we construct the multicomponent modified KP hierarchy and its additional symmetries. The additional symmetries constitute an interesting multi-folds quantum torus type Lie algebra. By a reduction, we also construct the constrained multicomponent modified KP hierarchy and its Virasoro type additional symmetries.
The factorization problem of the multi-component 2D Toda hierarchy is used to analyze the dispersionless limit of this hierarchy. A dispersive version of the Whitham hierarchy defined in terms of scalar Lax and Orlov--Schulman operators is introduced and the corresponding additional symmetries and string equations are discussed. Then, it is shown how KP and Toda pictures of the dispersionless Whitham hierarchy emerge in the dispersionless limit. Moreover, the additional symmetries and string equations for the dispersive Whitham hierarchy are studied in this limit.
The multicomponent 2D Toda hierarchy is analyzed through a factorization problem associated to an infinite-dimensional group. A new set of discrete flows is considered and the corresponding Lax and Zakharov--Shabat equations are characterized. Reductions of block Toeplitz and Hankel bi-infinite matrix types are proposed and studied. Orlov--Schulman operators, string equations and additional symmetries (discrete and continuous) are considered. The continuous-discrete Lax equations are shown to be equivalent to a factorization problem as well as to a set of string equations. A congruence method …
In this article, we will construct the additional perturbative quantum torus symmetry of the dispersionless BKP hierarchy basing on the $W_{\infty}$ infinite dimensional Lie symmetry. These results show that the complete quantum torus symmetry is broken from the BKP hierarchy to its dispersionless hierarchy. Further a series of additional flows of the multicomponent BKP hierarchy will be defined and these flows constitute an $N$-folds direct product of the positive half of the quantum torus symmetries.
In this article, we show that four sets of differential Fay identities of an $N$-component KP hierarchy derived from the bilinear relation satisfied by the tau function of the hierarchy are sufficient to derive the auxiliary linear equations for the wave functions. From this, we derive the Lax representation for the $N$-component KP hierarchy, which are equations satisfied by some pseudodifferential operators with matrix coefficients. Besides the Lax equations with respect to the time variables proposed in \cite{2}, we also obtain a set of equations relating different charge sectors, which can…
Using the bilinear formalism, we consider multicomponent and matrix modified KP hierarchies. The main tool is the bilinear identity for the tau-function which is realized as an expectation value of a Clifford group element composed from multicomponent fermionic operators. We also construct the Baker-Akhiezer functions and derive auxiliary linear equations satisfied by them.
In the present paper we propose a reduced temperature non-equilibrium model for simulating multicomponent flows with inter-phase heat transfer, diffusion processes (including the viscosity and the heat conduction) and external energy sources. We derive three equivalent formulations for the proposed model. All the three formulations assume velocity and pressure equilibrium across the material interface. These equivalent forms provide different physical perspectives and numerical conveniences. Temperature equilibration and continuity across the material interfaces are achieved with the instantan…
In this paper, we construct the Sato theory including the Hirota bilinear equations and tau function of a new $q$-deformed Toda hierarchy(QTH). Meanwhile the Block type additional symmetry and bi-Hamiltonian structure of this hierarchy are given. From Hamiltonian tau symmetry, we give another definition of tau function of this hierarchy. Afterwards, we extend the $q$-Toda hierarchy to an extended $q$-Toda hierarchy(EQTH) which satisfy a generalized Hirota quadratic equation in terms of generalized vertex operators. The Hirota quadratic equation might have further application in Gromov-Witten t…
We derive a particular solution of the extended $r$-reduced KP hierarchy, which is specified by a generalized string equation. The work is a generalization to arbitrary $r\geq 2$ of Buryak's recent results of a solution to the extended open KdV hierarchy which corresponds to $r=2$.
A space discretization of an integrable long wave-short wave interaction model, called the Yajima-Oikawa system, was proposed in the recent paper arXiv:1509.06996 using the Hirota bilinear method (see also https://link.aps.org/doi/10.1103/PhysRevE.91.062902). In this paper, we propose a Lax-pair representation for the discrete Yajima-Oikawa system as well as its multicomponent generalization also considered in arXiv:1509.06996 and prove that it has an infinite number of conservation laws. We also derive the next higher flow of the discrete Yajima-Oikawa hierarchy, which generalizes a modified …
The total descendent potential of a simple singularity satisfies the Kac-Wakimoto principal hierarchy. Bakalov and Milanov showed recently that it is also a highest weight vector for the corresponding W-algebra. This was used by Liu, Yang and Zhang to prove its uniqueness. We construct this principal hierarchy of type D in a different way, viz. as a reduction of some DKP hierarchy. This gives a Lax type and a Grassmannian formulation of this hierarchy. We show in particular that the string equation induces a large part of the W constraints of Bakalov and Milanov. These constraints are not only…
We construct a certain reduction of the 2D Toda hierarchy and obtain a tau-symmetric Hamiltonian integrable hierarchy. This reduced integrable hierarchy controls the linear Hodge integrals in the way that one part of its flows yields the intermediate long wave hierarchy, and the remaining flows coincide with a certain limit of the flows of the fractional Volterra hierarchy which controls the special cubic Hodge integrals.
In the present paper, we propose a two-component generalization of the reduced Ostrovsky equation, whose differential form can be viewed as the short-wave limit of a two-component Degasperis-Procesi (DP) equation. They are integrable due to the existence of Lax pairs. Moreover, we have shown that two-component reduced Ostrovsky equation can be reduced from an extended BKP hierarchy with negative flow through a pseudo 3-reduction and a hodograph (reciprocal) transform. As a by-product, its bilinear form and $N$-soliton solution in terms of pfaffians are presented. One- and two-soliton solutions…
This paper gives a recursion operator for a 1-constrained CKP hierarchy, and by the recursion operator it proves that the 1-constrained CKP hierarchy can be reduced to the mKdV hierarchy under condition $q=r$.
This paper is focused on geometric aspects of two particular types of finite-variable reductions in the dispersionless Toda hierarchy. The reductions are formulated in terms of "Landau-Ginzburg potentials" that play the role of reduced Lax functions. One of them is a generalization of Dubrovin and Zhang's trigonometric polynomial. The other is a transcendental function, the logarithm of which resembles the waterbag models of the dispersionless KP hierarchy. They both satisfy a radial version of the Löwner equations. Consistency of these Löwner equations yields a radial version of the Gibbons-T…
Finite-dimensional reductions of the 2D dispersionless Toda hierarchy, constrained by the ``string equation'' are studied. These include solutions determined by polynomial, rational or logarithmic functions, which are of interest in relation to the ``Laplacian growth'' problem governing interface dynamics. The consistency of such reductions is proved, and the Hamiltonian structure of the reduced dynamics is derived. The Poisson structure of the rationally reduced dispersionless Toda hierarchies is also derived
A Palm hierarchy for determinantal point processes with the confluent hypergeometric kernel, the decomposing measures in the problem of harmonic analysis on the infinite-dimensional unitary group
We first exhibit two compatible Poisson structures on the cotangent bundle of the unitary group $\mathrm{U}(n)$ in such a way that the invariant functions of the $\mathfrak{u}(n)^*$-valued momenta generate a bi-Hamiltonian hierarchy. One of the Poisson structures is the canonical one and the other one arises from embedding the Heisenberg double of the Poisson-Lie group $\mathrm{U}(n)$ into $T^*\mathrm{U}(n)$, and subsequently extending the embedded Poisson structure to the full cotangent bundle. We then apply Poisson reduction to the bi-Hamiltonian hierarchy on $T^*\mathrm{U}(n)$ using the con…

We demonstrate that SDYM equations for the Lie algebra of one-dimensional vector fields represent a natural reduction in the framework of general linearly degenerate dispersionless hierarchy. We define the reduction in terms of wave functions, introduce generating relation, Lax-Sato equations and the dressing scheme for the reduced hierarchy. Multidimensional case is also discussed.
A fast and efficient numerical-analytical approach is proposed for modeling complex behaviour in the BBGKY hierarchy of kinetic equations. We construct the multiscale representation for hierarchy of reduced distribution functions in the variational approach and multiresolution decomposition in polynomial tensor algebras of high-localized states. Numerical modeling shows the creation of various internal structures from localized modes, which are related to localized or chaotic type of behaviour and the corresponding patterns (waveletons) formation. The localized pattern is a model for energy co…
